Starting point is 00:00:00 The tarps were off and the Cardinals walked it off with another win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This is Locked on Cardinals. You are locked on Cardinals. Your daily St. Louis Cardinals podcast, part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day. Hey there, Cardinals fans. I'm J.D. Hafford and on today's show, we've got some news about Mason Wynn's latest injury. Is our faith in Riley O'Brien starting to waver a little bit or not? But we begin with yet another entertaining night of baseball where the St. Louis Cardinals, once again, drove a stake into the hearts of the division rival Pittsburgh Pirates,
Starting point is 00:00:45 winning in 10 innings on a walk-off three-run bomb by Yvonne Herrera and gave you this scene. After the game with the, I got the dog in me, home run chain, getting bathed with the water baths, It's not Gatorade there, but his first home run in the month of May, first walk off home run in his career. Huge moment for him. He was so excited afterwards in the postgame interview on the field. It was really, really cool. And I'm running out of words to describe what we are seeing from this team that nobody thought was going to be any good.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Maybe you were like me. I thought they'd be better than, you know, some people were giving them credit. There was that 100 lost nonsense that some people brought up. 70 win bulk crap that people were shoveling because they didn't go spend money this offseason and instead got rid of a bunch of high-priced talent that they weren't winning with anyway. And if you're an everyday, you heard me talk about how talented but young and inexperienced this team was. And I kept mentioning, you know, the floor is very, very low because of all of the unknowns with young players. You just don't know how they're going to perform.
Starting point is 00:02:00 but it was also an unknown ceiling because you didn't know how good they were going to be either. And after Tuesday's win, the St. Louis Cardinals are now 2819, which has them tied for second place in the division with the Cubs who are spiraling at the moment, have lost four in a row. Both teams are a half game back of Milwaukee
Starting point is 00:02:21 who took over first place by beating Chicago on Monday and Tuesday in Chicago in dominating fashion, really. Those two teams battling for first place, that's not really a surprise. That's kind of what was supposed to happen. But for the Cardinals to be the other team in the mix right now, that is not what was supposed to happen this year. And it hasn't been easy by any means.
Starting point is 00:02:48 It's not like the Cardinals are just rolling over the competition. Tuesday night was a prime example of how things can go a little haywire for them. and the baby birds just continue to show resiliency and somehow continue to come out on top and the end of these games. You know, this was a sloppy game by the Cardinals. One of the sloppiest they played all season. He had a couple of defensive errors,
Starting point is 00:03:15 a couple of base running blunders, another late game meltdown by the bullpen. And when you add up all of those mistakes, normally, you're not going to win. That would lead to a loss. But the cardals continue to fight back, pick each other up when adversity strikes, and they did it again on Tuesday night. They took the lead early on on a two-run dinger by JJ Weatherholt in the third inning.
Starting point is 00:03:40 The pirates, they got to be fed up with JJ. They just got to be like, bro, quit picking on us. All right, we get it. You used to root for us. Now you don't. Why do you got to keep beating our brains in? He was one of the main cogs in the four-game sweep in Pittsburgh. And here he was once again getting things rolling.
Starting point is 00:03:58 with his ninth home run of the season, this time against the Pirates, second best starter behind Paul Skeens and Mitch Keller, who was very good last night. He was. You know, he gave up a couple of runs, but like Mitch Keller is a very good pitcher. Cardinals are able to tack on another run against him in the fourth inning after it was first and third, nobody out. Nolan Grounds into a double play.
Starting point is 00:04:22 But it gets the run in, you know, obviously you're looking for more than that if he can do it, but he puts the ball on play. doesn't strike out, which scores the run. That run will become very important later on when things go a little bonkers at the end of the game. And at this point, you know, Matthew Libertor is cruising at this point in the game. First four innings, he had his A game going striking out guys left and right, eight Ks in the first four innings. But as has often been the case, he runs into trouble in the middle innings.
Starting point is 00:04:53 When the lineup has turned over for the third time, for whatever reason, reason, it just hasn't worked out for Libby. What was a dominating performance turned sour quickly in the fifth inning after two lead off singles, then a walk, then a wild pitch. All of a sudden, Libby can't find the zone. Brian Reynolds hits a double. Another walk. And an O'Neill Cruz RBI single, just like that, the lead is gone.
Starting point is 00:05:18 And now the boys are trailing. You're like, whoa, where the hell did this come from? It was three to nothing. Everything was looking great. And then bam, pirate strike. But this year, when something like that happens, it doesn't feel like the end of the world. And I feel like in past years, when something like this would happen, the Cardinals just, they didn't feel like there was a whole lot of fight left in them.
Starting point is 00:05:44 And that, well, that's it. We're probably going to roll over. That's not the vibe this year. It's completely different. Now you expect this team to battle back. And that's exactly what they did, scoring two in the sixth inning on a two-run black. by Nolan Gorman, his sixth of the year against the lefty, no less. Pirates manager, Don Kelly, did the smart thing.
Starting point is 00:06:05 He pulls Keller to get the lefty, lefty matchup, which on paper makes a whole lot of sense because we know how Gorman struggles against lefties, but credit to Gorman. He burns him. Makes it five to four. Alec Brollison would then mash a solo shot in the eighth inning, his seventh of the season, which then, you know, sailed right at the tarps off throng that were, situated behind the Cardinals Bullpen. They moved them from that upper terrace area and had them closer behind the Cardinals
Starting point is 00:06:34 bullpen. They gave them rally towels. And yeah, it was, it was awesome to see all of those guys back there again for one last go. And that made it six to four. And like clockwork, because Ali's got, you know, this is the blueprint. This is how the Cardinals win games, right? You go to certain members of the bullpen.
Starting point is 00:06:54 He goes Stanik. And he goes, uh, Joe Joe Romero. and then it's Riley O'Brien time, right? Gordon Grecefo got in the game as well. He was excellent after Libby came out. And then it's Riley O'Brien time. He comes in to finish things off. And Tuesday, though, sadly, rough night, rough night for Riley, which has become a little more common than I think you'd like. So we'll talk about his appearance. We'll give you the three stars of the game and a whole lot more coming up on Lockstone Cardinals. The NBA playoffs are here and every possession matters if you're looking to get. even closer to the action.
Starting point is 00:07:34 How about you join my friends at Fandall. They got a great offer to get you started if you haven't already. Right now, new customers can bet $5 and get $150 in bonus bets if your first bet wins. That's right. You turn five bucks into $150 in bonus bets just for getting started. And I like using Fandall during the playoffs. It makes everything I need. It just puts it all together for me, really.
Starting point is 00:07:55 It makes it very simple to navigate through the app and get to the games I want to get to to place the bets that I think are going to make sense. You can check your stats, your trends, your matchups. It makes you feel just that much more informed about what it is you're getting ready to watch and what you're getting ready to bet on, whether you're looking at player props. Maybe you're just following your favorite stars. Victor Wimbunyama. That's the guy.
Starting point is 00:08:20 You key it on him and you roll. It adds another level of excitement to every game. And it's really easy to navigate, as I said, makes playoff basketball that much more engaging from start to finish. As far as the playoffs going right now, the Cavaliers blow a huge, what was it, 22 point lead against the next. They choke away game one in overtime. Game one on Monday in the Western Conference went to double overtime as the Spurs beat the Thunder. Game two is going to be tonight in Oklahoma City. Thunder still favored by by six and a half. I told you, in Victor we trust. In Victor, we trust when it comes to NBA playoff betting on Fandle.
Starting point is 00:08:57 he went off in game one, ride this man, as long as he's playing in the playoffs. Do it. Head to fandul.com to get started, Fanduel, play your game. Today's episode also brought to you by five-hour energy cotton candy. Now, if you got a sweet tooth like I do, especially in the summertime, when it starts to get hot, you kind of want something sweet. You know how tough it is to find that perfect treat that doesn't have a whole bunch of sugar in there. And that's why cotton candy, five-hour energy shot, it's one of my go-to, when it comes to any of the delicious flavors and five-hour energy.
Starting point is 00:09:33 It's got that classic cotton candy taste you remember, but with a tasty caffeine boost, zero sugar, which is awesome. It's quick, it's easy, and it satisfies that sweet craving that I have while keeping things simple and on the go. Now, you remember being a kid and eating cotton candy at the ballgame. You go to Bush Stadium. Parents get you cotton candy when you were young, but you can't be eating all those sweets anymore when you're an adult, and this is the perfect alternative.
Starting point is 00:09:59 I love how convenient it is. Small, portable shots. You can grab and go whenever you need a little pick-me-up before you're going to work. Maybe it's the gym. Maybe it's, you know, staying up late watching the Cardinals play in extra innings. You know, that's something too. It's become my go-to when I want something sweet without going overboard. Bring on the sweetness with cotton candy five-hour energy shots available online now at five-hour energy.

So we're up to the ninth inning and Riley O'Brien comes on and they drop the lights and the phones and the lighters come out.
Starting point is 00:10:56 I don't think there's really lighters anymore, but the phones come out. They light up Bush Stadium, which is going to look really cool with. And that place is packed, but it's Tuesday night and weather wasn't always the greatest. And so you got to, yeah, it is what it is as far as the attendance goes. But it's going to look neat. It's going to look neat. I promise you that. And right away, though, the, the ish hits the fan.
Starting point is 00:11:17 He allows a lead off single. Lead off guy gets on in the 19th. It's usually trouble. Then he hits the next two batters to load the bases with nobody out. There was a little controversy there, though. The first batter he hit stud rookie Connor Griffin. great ball player. I can't wait to see him grow as a player in Major League Baseball. And I'm not trying to be biased here, but I'm going to be a little bit. But it sure didn't
Starting point is 00:11:42 didn't look like it hit him. It looked like it hit the knob of the bat, not his hands. And he didn't act like it hit his hand either. If Riley O'Brien, who throws 98, 99 consistently hits you in the hands, hits you in the fingers, you're going to react like, ah, you're going to be shaking your hands. You're going to, there's going to be a reaction. There was nothing. There was nothing. Is Connor Griffin's fingers like the Terminator? And that scene in Terminator, too, where he pulls his skin off and it's just the robotics.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Like, how would you have no reaction to that? So no shaking of the hand afterwards. And he even looked like, when he went to first base, he kind of looked like, yeah, you know, it didn't really hit me. It looked like he expected them to overturn the call because the Cardinals challenged this, as they should have. And the review booth lets it stand. They're like, we don't see enough to overturn this, which put two on, nobody out. Ali was not happy with that whatsoever. Biggie said, effing terrible was the exact quote that I saw if I do my best,
Starting point is 00:12:46 John Boy Media lip reading. But it was. I don't know how that wasn't overturned, but whatever. So that puts two on, nobody out. Then he hits Reynolds when he overcooks a sweeper. Now we're in deepish. now next hitter, Marcelo Zuna, who's a shell of his former self, grounds into a 6,4, 3 double play, run scores.
Starting point is 00:13:05 They can see the run, makes it 6 to 5. You still got a runner on third base, though, so we're not out of the woods by any means. And your next hitter is the dangerous, but strikeout prone, O'Neill Cruz. And Riley gets ahead of him, a 02, feels like this is going to be boom, bump, and we're out of here. And then he throws four straight sweepers that aren't even close, not in competitive pitches, in the dirt. and walks him. No trust whatsoever on his sinker for whatever reason in that situation. Four straight sweepers in the dirt.
Starting point is 00:13:37 And this is not something that we're really used to seeing from Riley O'Brien. His control and ability to not put free runners on base is a big part of the reason why he's been so effective at Tuesday night, just not his night. Pirates end up going to the bench. They pinch it with Spencer Horowitz and he singles first pitch off a sinker, mind you, to tie the game. And Raleigh's able to get Brandon Lauer to fly out to end it, but the damage was done.
Starting point is 00:14:03 The Cardinals failed to score in the ninth. So off to extras we go. Now, that's the fourth blown saved by Raleigh O'Brien this season. It's nine now for the Cardinals as a team. And his numbers in May, they're not very good. Eight appearances, ERA is over seven right now. 7.04. Six runs on nine hits in seven and two-thirds innings,
Starting point is 00:14:23 three hit batters, two walks, eight strikeouts. opponents are hitting 310 against him in the month of May. And all I can say about this is not that Riley O'Brien has gotten worse. It's that I imagine batters have made adjustments. Now they're seeing him more and teams are making adjustments against him. So we'll see how O'Brien combats that. We're not removing him from the closer roll. I'm not saying anything like that.
Starting point is 00:14:48 But it's something to keep an eye on. Certainly something to watch because things have not been great so far this month, at least not compared to what he was like earlier in the season. But, you know, just like batters go through slums, so do pitchers and closer. So it'll happen. It'll happen. So I would imagine the trust in Radley O'Brien is still very, very strong among his peers. And among manager, Ali Marble, I'm sure everything is fine, but just something to keep an eye on.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Tenth inning, they go to George Soriano, who gets the bucks one, two, three on a strikeout, flyout, ground out. He was awesome. Strands the runner at second base. the free runner they get. So awesome job by Soriano. Then in the bottom half, Cardinals waste no time whatsoever. JJ rips a single that just cleared the second baseman's gloves.
Starting point is 00:15:36 So Victor, who was on second, which is awesome to have the fastest dude on your team on second base. He had to make sure it got over the glove first, so he's only able to make it to third base. So smart base running, as much as you want him to be aggressive and try to. Smart base running, because there's so many different ways
Starting point is 00:15:51 that Victor can score from third base with nobody out. So very, very smart. So now you got first and third. Nobody out that set up Yvonne Herrera falls behind O2, but then he just unleashes the fury on the hanging, breaking ball, and puts it over the wall in left center, nine, six, final walkoff. 14 comeback victory, seven extra inning wins. Now they're seven and one in extras.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Five walkoff wins this season. Just amazing and fun to watch. But you got a question a little bit. I'm not trying to be, you know, the Debbie Downer, of the group here. But you know, you just got to question how sustainable all of this is over a whole season. Like, can you keep doing this over and over and over and over? Odds are not in your favor when it comes to that.
Starting point is 00:16:37 But enjoy the madness while at last. Enjoy it because it has been awesome, awesome to watch. Speaking of awesome, shout out to the Tarps off crew back in attendance for one last night at Bush Stadium. Stephen F. Austin, the baseball club. They were there one last time. They actually had to leave in the middle of the game to catch their bus to get back to Texas. So safe travels to them. I know they were online tweeting and stuff with us last night.
Starting point is 00:17:07 So hopefully this trend that is sweeping all of Major League Baseball now, you're starting to see it in ballparks all over America, Detroit, Seattle. We saw it in Florida. We saw it in L.A. It's happening everywhere. Hopefully that will continue not only just for Major League Baseball, but also continue at Bush Stadium now that the team had to go to go back home. I hope that, you know, other people are there to carry the torch,
Starting point is 00:17:32 but it's been a PR dream. It's been an awesome story. Tarps off, baby. It's so good. And I love how the media has gotten involved with it, too. Like the boys over at 101 ESPN, BK and Ferraro, they ended up taking their shirts off for Monday's show. You saw a chip and Brad Thompson and Jim Hayes,
Starting point is 00:17:56 and they have the Charleston. Even Sweeney got into it in the post game where they have the, you know, like shave chest, muscle shirts on. It's, it's been a lot of fun. And that's something that I, you know, I've said this before. The Cardinals have really missed having fun over the last few years, you know, even when the team was winning, it just wasn't the same. And now it just looks like, it's like a party, man.
Starting point is 00:18:19 It's just such a great vibe around the ballpark. So great stuff. Your three stars of the game, Alec Berluson is your number one star. We'll go on with Burley. Huge game for Alec. Ends up going two for three in the game, home run, three runs scored. Also had a huge game defensively. Multiple scoops at first base, had that tag play in the eighth inning where he took a spike to the dome diving for the runner.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Burley's got his batting average back up to 283, which is tied for fourth among all first baseman. he's got seven dingers. His 34 RBI is tied for third most among all first baseman in baseball. He is by far one of the most underrated players in the game right now. Second start of the game, of course, is going to go to Yvonne Herrera, the big man who hadn't done anything during the game. But when the lights were the brightest, he came through with that game-winning home run that just so happening over the fence, dramatic three-run dinger,
Starting point is 00:19:13 slow start to the season. Yvonne is hitting 296 now over his last 30 games. four home run, 16 Ribby. He's got an OBP of 401. He continues to be the perfect guy to bat second in this lineup. Third start of the game, it's a tie. It's going to be a tie between J.J. Weatherholt and Nolan Gorman. Both of them hit huge two-run bombs in key situations. JJ continues to torment the pirates. He's now eight for 20 against them with three of his nine home runs going against Pittsburgh as well. Gorman bopped his off of a left-hander, which was a sight for sore eyes. First home run against to the lefty this season. Got this stat courtesy of Rob Raines over at STL SportsPage.com.
Starting point is 00:19:54 After hitting 41 home runs in their first 31 games before the end of the April, before the end of April, the Cardinals only had 10 home runs in the first 15 games in May prior to Tuesday night. This was the second game this season with four or more home runs. The other was a five homer game against the Mariners back on April 25th, the same day as Herrera's last home run. He hadn't hit one. since April 25th.
Starting point is 00:20:20 It's been a bit. But again, he gets on base a lot and he doesn't have to hit home runs as much as he used to. So Libby strikes out a career high nine batters and just four and two thirds innings still struggling to figure out how to pitch deep into games consistently. I'm sure it's frustrating for him as well. They'll get it figured out.
Starting point is 00:20:39 I got faith in that, but he was awesome for those first four innings. Like he was, Pittsburgh didn't stand a chance. And then just, you know, the control just went away. So it's kind of similar to the last game that he pitched where he was doing just fine. And then he has kind of a meltdown inning. And sadly, people are expecting that now.
Starting point is 00:21:00 So hopefully he can change the narrative on that. The errors on Walker and Grisepho, although they're not great, you kind of errors happen. You can kind of look past them. But the one mistake on the base pass that really just like is Thomas and Jacey. being on third base, one out and getting picked off by the catcher. He slipped. I get it.
Starting point is 00:21:22 But that was brutal. That was brutal. Just ruined the entire inning. It's not been a good year for C.C. A bit of a rough ghost and jump street for him. So I don't know what it's going to take. I like the idea of sending him down to Memphis, but then injuries happened. And they couldn't do that.
Starting point is 00:21:39 They kept him up. Instead, they brought him right back. I don't know, man. He needs a confidence boost soon. you need something good to go his way. And you definitely noticed that Mason Wynn was missing from the, from the lineup yesterday, not only offensively but defensively with the lack of range of both
Starting point is 00:21:56 Cesar Prieto and C.C. filling in it shortstop. But we did get some good news about Mason and his knee. So we'll talk about that next coming up on Lockdown Cardinals. Baseball is full of routines and superstitions. You got rally caps. You got lucky jerseys. You got people taking off their jerseys, all of it. And honestly, it can be the.
Starting point is 00:22:20 the same when it comes to products for hair thinning too. A lot of hype, but not always a lot of confidence behind it. That's why there's NutraFold, the number one dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement brand and the official hair growth partner of Major League Baseball. Here's what has stood out to me about NutraFold. It takes a more personalized approach with the formulas that are designed for different stages and different needs. It's physician formulated, clinically tested, NSF certified for sport. So you got all the important people. people backing up what NutraFol is doing. And it's really simple.
Starting point is 00:22:54 Just four capsules daily with a meal. Makes NutraFle one of those small adjustments, the small routines, but something that can really help your confidence moving forward. Starting point is 00:23:19 Once again, $10 off, your first month subscription, free shipping when you visit neutrafol.com and enter promo code Lockdown MLB. Thanks again for making Lockdown. Cardinals, your first listen of the day. Thank you for making Lockdown on the number one sports podcast network. Lower body injuries and Mason win. They're starting to go together like peanut butter and jelly, man. It's happening a lot. But the Cardinals, thank God, they're very smart about these things and are usually quite cautious about the injuries.
Starting point is 00:23:54 to Mason when and really any injuries, to be honest, it's one of the reasons why they've been able to stay so healthy the last few years. When something happens, they don't push it. They're not like, well, let's see if you can get through the, no, they immediately take you out, give you some time off. They take care of it. They do whatever they need to do to check things out. And knowing that pushing Mason win right now could lead to more damage later on was smart,
Starting point is 00:24:22 was smart what they did. And we were told after Sunday's game, if you remember, he had to leave early. Cramping sensation is what we were told in the calf area. That ended up leading to some soreness and lingered into Tuesday. And it was worrisome enough that the Cardinals were like, well, let's, let's just look at it. We'll get an MRI done. Check out your knee. Check out everything.
Starting point is 00:24:47 See, make sure everything we're dealing with here so we don't take any chances. So very, very smart. And good news is that imaging came back clean. And Ali said the team is hopeful that Wynn can return to the lineup on Wednesday, but he's considered day to day. He said that he was slightly better, slightly better, but still sore. We wanted to make sure if we were going to test it out, let's get some imaging first, and then we'll start testing it.
Starting point is 00:25:10 And perhaps what we take or what we get, I should say, what we get from Mason Wynn. Maybe we take that for granted a little bit because you could definitely tell in the game on Tuesday night, that that was not Mason win playing shortstop. It looks very, very different when Mason win is not out there. When someone other than a goal Glover is playing shortstop, it's quite noticeable. Multiple ground balls got past both Prieto and Sejacy. Balls that I think Mason Winn would get to would have probably scooped up and gotten outs on,
Starting point is 00:25:46 which led to bigger innings for the pirates and bigger problems for the Cardinals pitching staff. And I'm not trying to knock Prieto and C. They're just not Mason Wynn. Mason Wynn is elite where those guys are just infielders. They're just dudes. And they didn't do anything wrong. They didn't screw anything up. They didn't make any errors.
Starting point is 00:26:05 They did their job. But their range to their left and the right. It is not even in the same vicinity as Mason Wend. And it was noticeable for sure. And you notice his absence in the batting order too, where the bottom third of the order, there just was no real punch there. when it's Prieto, Jayce, Pahez, and Victor, I mean, that's not so good.
Starting point is 00:26:28 And you could feel that in the ninth inning after the pirates had tied it. And those were the three guys, and J.C. Pahez, and Victor coming up. And they went down without much of a fight whatsoever. So taking game one was huge, obviously, in a series. You always want to do that. But taking game one despite the sloppy play, you know, despite the mistakes on the base pass in the field, having the issues, you know,
Starting point is 00:26:56 as far as the pitching goes, a blown save, the walks, the ninth blown save of the season by the bullpen, not having Mason win in your lineup and still being able to pull off of victory, it says something about this team and how gritty they really are. Now, as far as the rest of the NL Central goes, already mentioned the Brewers, top the Cubs, again, five to two to take over sole possession of first place in the division, a half game over both the Cardinals and the Cubs. Cubs have now lost four in a row and are just two and eight in their last 10. So tough goes for the Cubs. I know we feel real, real bad about that. Meanwhile, the Brewers, they're getting healthier. They got Christian Yellich back in their lineup.
Starting point is 00:27:34 They got Jackson Churio back when they face the Cardinals at Bush. Here they come. Winners have made in their last 10. They got a plus 70 run differential right now. The Brewers who didn't have Churio and have been without Yelley. have a plus 70 run differential. They traded Freddie Peralto away. And still, this is what they do, man. Just to put it in perspective, they're at plus 70. Cardinals are at plus six and have the record they have.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Just tells you how good Milwaukee has been. The Reds were four to one winners over the Phillies. Their prize rookie pitcher, Chase Burns, carved up Philly, punched out nine. He moves the six and one on the season, an ERA of 1.83, that kid is an absolute stud. Number two overall pick, not that long ago, a couple of years ago, absolute stud.
Starting point is 00:28:26 And if the Reds stay on their normal schedule with the rotation, the Cardinals should miss him this weekend because they have an off day. The Cardinals are traveling to Cincinnati this weekend. They'll be in town Friday, Saturday, Sunday, at Great American Ballpark, the first time the season they've been there. and unless the Reds push their guys up, which they might, but they got a day off on Thursday.
Starting point is 00:28:54 And if it's set up the way it is, the only person they've got listed right now is Chris Paddock pitching on Friday. They don't have Saturday and Sunday mentioned yet. But they could push him up considering it's a division game because they play the Mets next. So they might want to have Chase Burns throwing against the Cardinals on Sunday. So it'd be nice if you could miss him because he's tough, man. He's very tough. standings wise, brewers at the top, followed by the Cardinals,
Starting point is 00:29:23 who are percentage points ahead of the Cubs right now in the division. Chicago's in third, reds in fourth at 25 and 24. And then you got the Pirates, losers of four in a row now, seven of their last 10. They're now at 24 and 24 and threatening to fall under the 500 mark. So we'll see what happens tonight. Matchup for Cardinals Pirates. You got our most consistent starter so far this season,
Starting point is 00:29:45 Michael McGreevy, set to face, Carmen Magensky, for the Pirates. Now, the Cardinals didn't have to face him in that series in Pittsburgh, but in his career against them, he's given the Cardinals a lot of trouble. He's made 10 appearances. Three of them are starts. He's 2-0, 2.180RA, over 20 and two-thirds innings. He's been good. So hopefully the Cardinals and Bram Brown got a plan and they can do something to break this up. We'll see if they can figure him out tonight. Also, Lars Newport, promoted to Memphis as he continues his rehab. He goes over three with a strikeout in his first game with them. But no setbacks, as far as I know. Thanks for making a locked on Cardinals.
