It's temp check time as Jake and I check in with the Indianapolis Colts fan base to see who they want in round two of the 2026 NFL draft.
Let's get to it.
You are Locked on Colts, your daily Indianapolis Colts podcast.
Part of the Locked on podcast network, your team every day.
Welcome to Locked on Colts.
I'm Zach Hicks.
That's Jake Arthur, and we have a fun show in store for you guys today.
We're going to close out today's show by talking about the Colts top 30 visits, not just their top 30 visits, but all their visits in pre-draft meetings and talk about what really stands out to us about those meetings and visits that have been reported at this point. But to start off today's show, we're going to have a little bit of fun. I asked the question on my Twitter account at Zach Hicks 2 and also in the Colts Reddit forum, the Colts like subreddit at like R slash Colts on there. I asked what everyone's favorite pick would be at Pick 4.5.
I tried to keep it as realistic as possible.
But some of these picks were a little bit not realistic.
But of the, I want to say like 90 something people that responded,
I would say about 70 or so of them gave me an actual answer.
And they loaded their answers with multiple people, multiple players.
So what I did, and this is not the best for data mining,
but it's just for the fun of this exercise,
if a player was mentioned in the tweet or the response to me,
I put them on the list as a player that was mentioned.
So again, we took like 70 people's answers on here,
threw them together in the spreadsheet.
And we're going to play some like family feud with Jake essentially
because he has not seen the final numbers.
You know, there are seven players that got 10 or more votes.
So if Jake correctly guesses one of those seven players,
I will give him the ding, ding, ding,
and I'll say how many people voted for that player.
If he doesn't get a player right,
then we'll probably talk about them in segment two,
where we go over some of the players getting fewer.
votes and just the intrigue that some of those guys bring. So Jake, you're on the board right now,
on the clock essentially. Who do you think are these top seven players that got 10 or more people
voting for them in this unofficial poll, I guess, temp check with the Colts fan base?
Sure, sure, sure. We want to play, Steve. All right, let me get my rankings pulled up here.
So obviously, Jacob Rodriguez is probably number one.
Okay, okay. Let's lock that one in as your first guest. Jacob Rodriguez, right?
Again, I want to say it was like 71 people that I took here.
33 people voted for Jacob Rodriguez.
A number one answer.
Okay.
Number one answer with 33 by far and away over 15 more votes than second place.
Jacob Rodriguez, Texas Tech linebacker, won an award for being the best linebacker in college football last year.
He is everybody's dream pick for the Indianapolis Colts.
So you got that first one right there, Jake, easily Jacob Rodriguez.
is the number one guy on this list.
All right. Zion Young has to be probably next or second or like third.
Okay.
Okay. Zion Young third with 13 votes on here.
So he was third on here.
Zion Young, the defensive end out of Missouri, big bulky player.
I was actually shocked by how many votes trickled in for Zion Young because I thought people
would go with a little bit more upside.
But Colts fans are kind of buying the Zion Young love a little bit recently.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you got to shove that at Drusher's in here.
So obviously Malachi Lawrence has to be on the list.
Maybe number two or four.
Malachi Lawrence comes in just at number seven with 11 votes.
Just over there.
So number seven on here out of seven players, 11 votes,
defensive end Malachi Lawrence out of UCF.
I think part of this was because a lot of people think he might go in round one at this point
because of the athletic traits.
If it was just more so like overall everyone's favorite players,
I think he could have gotten more than just the 11.
But yeah, 11 of the, again, 71 people put Malachi Lawrence in there.
Okay.
Jake Golda.
Jake Golda, broken with number 12.
He got broken with 12, so he was number 5 on the list.
So one of two players that got 12 tally.
So you've got four of the seven players.
You are still missing number two, number six, and number four on this list, Jake.
So what do you got?
Ooh, okay.
Is Anthony Hill on the list?
Anthony Hill, number two, with,
18 votes on here.
The Texas linebacker, who on paper is obviously the perfect fit for what the Indianapolis
Colts are looking for with the height, weight, speed, with the green dot.
It makes a lot of sense that Colts fans are high on Anthony Hill Jr. out of Texas.
Gabe Accus.
Ooh, there you go.
Man, Jake, you were on fire right here.
Gabe Accus.
I know this fan base.
Came in number four, the Illinois defensive end with 12 votes.
He's been a bit of a riser in recent weeks.
the draft draft industry.
But Gabe Ocas came in pretty high for Colts fans on this with 12 votes.
Okay.
What do I still need?
You need one more.
He tied with Gold Day for or tied with Malachi Lawrence with 11 votes.
So six or seventh, however you want to put that in there.
Tide for the last spot on here.
There's a couple good ones.
But seeing as this, oh, man, dang it.
Okay.
This is your social we're talking about.
So I'm going to say it's Josiah Trotter.
It is not Josiah Trotter.
Josiah Trotter unfortunately did not break in there.
I wish I had more influence in there, Jake.
It's your X here.
So you get two more X before we throw it over to nobody to steal from you.
We're not playing a real family if you would hear.
But Josiah Trotter, your first missed so far, you're 6'7.
One more.
And if I had to give you a hint, you were right when you were like, oh, it's Zach's Twitter.
but think of the fan base as well.
I really want to say DeAngelo Pons.
Ding, ding, ding, that is the final one.
DeAngelo Ponds came in with 11 votes as well.
So just to sum, but up, the seven players at Colts fans,
again, this is me polling Colts fans on my personal Twitter,
and also in the Colts subreddit,
the seven players that Colts fans said the most in these responses.
Number one, linebacker, Jacob Rodriguez, by a wide margin.
Number two, Anthony Hill Jr.
linebacker from Texas by a pretty good margin as well.
Vin Zion Young, defensive end from Missouri.
Gabe Ocas, defensive end from Illinois.
Jake Golda, linebacker from Cincinnati,
DeAngelo Pons, Corner from Indiana,
and Malachi Lawrence, defensive end from UCF.
I think that sums up the Coles fan base,
what they're looking for here, Jake.
I don't think there's any surprise with those seven names there.
No, I mean, I think the big thing is,
there are guys missing from this who I'm assuming fans think are going to be gone before them.
Like Emmanuel McNeil Warren, like if you look at mock drafts, I personally think there's a real potential for him to be there, but he's usually gone by the end of the first round.
You can look at some interior guys, Kristen Miller, Lee Hunter, Caleb Banks, guys like that.
Josiah Trotter, I was a little surprised.
Kyle Lewis.
I think the temperature has cooled a little bit since the senior bowl there.
think realistic expectations are more a third round, which blows my mind.
But yeah, and I was going to ask you this real quick.
Like, I know this is the second round, and it's much harder to, like, nail a late top 50 pick.
But a lot of times when it comes to the Colts and, like, the picks they should make, they wind up doing it.
Like, it's too much of a layup.
It's too easy to see.
Do we think Rodriguez is like the odds on favorite?
Like, it seems too easy at this point.
He fills such a need.
He has special playmaking.
ability. Like, I just, I think even they won't outthink themselves on that.
Yeah, I think to me, I probably put Anthony Hill Jr. as the favorite. And then Rodriguez is the
second favorite, only because with Rodriguez, right, Rodriguez fits so much in terms of the playmaking,
in terms of the speed, the athleticism, the green dot that they're looking for. But some of the
measurables, I think, are a little concerning with the short arms, the short wingspan, shorter,
like not as compact as some linebackers.
And when we look at Anarumo and Ballard's history,
they typically like a little bit more length.
And like, well, I mean,
I know Ballard's taken some skinny linebackers,
but at least they've had the length to outweigh that.
Whereas they haven't really taken many like short armed,
like shorter frame linebackers before.
So that's where my one pause comes with Rodriguez.
Where Anthony Hill Jr., even though I don't think he's nearly as good as Rodriguez
on film, he just has every,
He has the frame.
He has the length.
He has the athleticism.
He has the green dot experience.
He's still only 21 years old where Rodriguez is 24 years old.
I think Hill,
I would slightly lean,
I think in terms of betting where they would take if they were going a linebacker.
But Rodriguez,
I do think checks a lot of boxes.
And he feels like a type of guy that could be an exception to the rule for them.
So while I don't know if I would go as high as Colts fans have,
where it's like everyone is saying Rodriguez is the favorite,
I think it,
like,
if I had to put like a top four or five on where I think they go,
I think Colts fans got it generally right here.
I don't know about Golda just because I don't know if there's much there,
like outside of him attacking and playing more like a sandbacker role.
And I just don't love that fit with the Colts.
But the other top four guys, Young, August, Hill, and Rodriguez, I think are very much
going to be alive for that 47th overall pick for the Colts.
I do think there's like real potential for Golda to bloom in like a really
well-rounded three-down guy. He played in coverage a lot. He got used in the slot a lot.
And early in his college career, he was mostly an edge. Now he's kind of a one-speed,
one-trick pony as a pass rusher, but I mean, there's tools there. Like, you know, I'm still very
curious if, like, NFL teams are going to really hike him up like they did Schwessinger last year.
But I do see an avenue for Golda to be like, that stud guy. He was one of my first linebackers I
really liked. Yeah, no, absolutely. I think the traits are there. It's just a bit of
projection and I don't know how the Colts would value that. But coming up though, guys,
we're going to talk about some of the other names because we only talked about seven.
I think I got 34 different names. Yeah, I believe it was 34 different names. So we'll talk about
some of the lesser voted on names in this unofficial poll I put out there among Colts fans.
A few new names as well. You know, Jake and I like to keep it fresh in this draft season.
So we'll talk about some of the newer names and just rest of the names that filled out this
unofficial poll I put out among the Colts fan base.

All right. Locked on Colts,
Everdayers, we are back continuing this fun conversation with our
unofficial poll among Colts fans and seeing where the temperature check is for
where they want to go with that second round selection in the 2026 NFL draft.
But before we get back to it, don't forget to check out the Everdayer Club for

supercast.com.
All right, Jake, so let's go to some of these lesser-known guys.
And the one misspick you had in your guessing was Josiah Trotter.
And right after Trade Down, he was the next choice in here.
Right after Pass.
Right after we got to move back.
Josiah Trotter had five votes in here.
Trade Down had six.
A couple other players got three votes.
R. Mason Thomas, the defensive end out of Oklahoma.
And Cassius Howell, the defensive end out of Texas A&M,
I think Howell probably would have got a few more, but he's getting some first round buzz.
And, you know, Colts fans probably didn't want to pick a guy who's getting some first round buzz.
A couple guys with two that we've talked about quite a bit on our show.
Jeremy Bernard, the wide receiver out of Alabama.
Chris Brasel, the wide receiver out of Tennessee.
A.J. Halsey snuck in with two.
Look at your impact on the fan base there, Jake.
We got Elijah Surat with two as well.
And then T.J. Parker, the defensive end.
It's a rotten round two, huh?
Yeah, Indiana fans, baby.
Yeah, okay.
One guy said Aden Fisher, and I was like, I don't know if I can count this as a real one in here.
And then T.J. Parker, the defensive end out of Clemson.
Anything surprised you about those guys?
I mean, maybe that some of these guys only got two or three votes, Jake.
But I think we've heard most of those names mentioned as like a potential top 50 or if the Colts tradeback being like an option in round two still.
Yeah, I think if you told people that it's.
more likely that T.J. Parker and Cassius Howell would be available.
They'd be more on board. I just think it's the fact they don't think they'll be
outside of the top 40 probably.
Now, both guys, I don't think Parker especially is not a lock in the first round,
but Howell has been like a first round mock like the entire process.
Now with that being said, you know, Malachi Lawrence is someone who's also kind of forced
his way in, so teams are going to make choices.
So I do think Howell, even though he's got the real short arms, he's an explosive bendy guy.
And then Parker, I think, would be perfect for the Colts.
It's just, you know, less likely he's available.
McNeil Warren, solid player who I know they just signed Nazeer Adderley, but that's,
I don't think it prevents you from drafting someone, especially, you know,
McNeil Warren's more of a strong safety.
You know, the bully type, he's going to knock you up and take your lunch money because he also has a really good
ball skills. So yeah, I think those guys, if available are, I would put them up the
Colts draft board. Yeah, no, for sure. And you kind of led us into the next one here.
McNeil Warren actually only got one vote in this. One guy on Twitter mentioned him.
And again, I think he probably gets more votes if you're not thinking that he's going
around one, because I love his fit. I think if he's there at 47, I would be really hard
tempted not to take him. But I just don't know if he's going to be there at 47. A couple other
potential first round guys that got vote. Blake Miller, the offensive tackle from Clemson,
got a vote from somebody. That's probably my influence coming in through there. Omar Cooper
Jr. got a vote because Indiana, we love our Indiana guys. That's another one I'll put along with
the edge rushers. Like if you said Omar Cooper Jr. was getting out of the first round,
I think everyone would be like, yeah, absolutely, they need him. Right. And then linebacker,
CJ Allen from Georgia. Linebacker, we haven't talked about a ton this offseason. I'm a huge fan
of his game.
Like I think he's a top five linebacker in this draft.
I've seen buzz of him going in like that 25 to 35 range, super athletic, super fun
linebacker.
If he's there at 47, I'm taking him for sure over, probably over some of these other
linebackers that we've been hyping up because I think the potential is really high with him.
So he's another guy where I just don't know if he's going to be there at 47, but I really
do like CJ Allen from Georgia quite a bit.
Now, I haven't watched a ton of him, but he was the first one I watched.
And I was just a little underwhelmed.
He flies, man.
He's so fast.
Well, yeah.
Is he more of a sideline to sideline guy?
Because I was looking for him to like attack the backfield.
And it just, he didn't do that for me.
And it took watching, watching Anthony Hill to kind of bring me back into the linebacker class.
But I'm willing to be open-minded on Alan.
I just haven't fallen in love yet.
Yeah, it might have been just whatever game you watched is very up and down in his film.
So, because he's, I think he was still a pretty young starter last year.
So it is a bit up and down.
He got a lot better late in the season.
So maybe it was just kind of the game you were watching.
But I like his film quite a bit.
He's a fun player.
We do have a couple other mentions here that I thought were,
I don't want to call them unhinged because the NFL draft and anything can happen.
The draft is unhinged.
Right, right.
It's very unhinged in general.
But a couple of very different ones that I really wanted to go through here.
Kron Crawford, the edge rusher out of Auburn, got one vote.
Crawford is continually mocked in like round four or five.
big time speed rusher but not very productive, I think, at the college level.
I could honestly see a world where he goes round two because of the traits,
but that's a new name I have not heard from Colts fans.
Jennings Dunker as an interior offensive alignment out of Iowa,
Jennings Dunker, who I graded as an offensive tackle on the Indy draft guide,
and have him as our 200th player in the draft guide.
I'm not a fan.
Not a fan of Jennings Dunker at all.
So that says all I think of that potential pick.
Two running backs here, Mike Washington Jr. out of Arkansas and Judarian Price out of Notre Dame.
I believe the Judarian Price mentioned was more so like it doesn't make sense, but I would like it type of mention.
So it wasn't necessarily the guy picking it.
And then a cornerback, cornerback Brandon Cese out of South Carolina.
So some new names on there, some players I like, some players I don't like in Jennings Dunger.
But I think of those guys, you know, Cese or Judarian Price I'd be very intrigued by.
I would be blown away if they took one of those guys,
but I'd be very intrigued because I do kind of like the potential that C-Saysay has
and Price would be a very good compliment to Jonathan Taylor.
Yeah, C-Say is interesting because, again, teams are just going to have to choose.
Like, they might have, like, Colton Hood and Chris Johnson and C-Say kind of in those same buckets.
And then maybe they wish D'Angelo Pons was bigger, but, you know, to heck with it,
they fall in love.
Like, I could kind of see an avenue where C-Say becomes available
around that range. And I mean, he would fit the Colts perfectly fine. The running backs are real
interesting. There's been very little smoke about running back, but I know the Colts want a better
compliment to Jonathan Taylor. And he's entering the final year of his deal. Now, do they want to
pick someone so early that it almost threatens Jonathan Taylor? I don't think so. But those are so
interesting. But like Washington in the third round or something, that starts to pick up steam. Price, I don't
I think we'll make it to the third round.
But that one's, I'm here for it.
Now, the edge ones, I kind of like that a little bit because you could notice these
traitsy edge guys get pushed up the board.
Nadame Tucker, George Gumbs, Kieran Crawford.
I see that.
Like, they have, they're slotted there in the middle rounds, but pass rushers with traits.
I mean, there's no saying those guys don't go early.
Yeah, like, look, I think Zion Young goes above Kieran Crawford in the draft, but
If a team took him over Zayon Young, I wouldn't be super shocked, right?
Zion Young doesn't really have huge traits for the NFL where Karon Crawford,
super athletic, super explosive, super bendy.
So I could see a team reaching there.
I wouldn't do it at all.
I don't see it, but I could see a team doing it because that's just how teams operate.
But that is all we have for this fun exercise on today's show.
We still have one more segment, though.
We're going to dive into some of these top 30 visits or just unofficial visits that
the Colts have had with prospects.
Texas all season that have been reported and just react to a couple of the names and react to
a couple of the trends that we see with this list of players.

Here's Jake and I are back, stumbling through our words, trying to get through the last part of this show.
It's been a long draft season, my friends.
We are getting through it.
But we are going to go through some of these.
official visits that we have seen the Colts that we've seen reported for the Colts.
Obviously, this is not the complete list.
And also some of these players are kind of like, like I see on here that we see a couple of
Indiana players.
We see Luke Altmeyer on here.
I'm assuming a lot of those meetings and visits came at the local pro day or around
the local pro day.
I can add context to some of them because I only put ones on here that I think are genuine.
And because I could have put 80 guys on there for the local pro day.
But these are all ones.
I think there's something to them.
Okay, okay. So Jake, being our boots on the ground, we give us a little bit more insight on some of them.
But there are some intriguing names on here. And honestly, the first couple of guys I'll mention before I kick it over to you, Jake, are a couple of the players that we saw on our list that we had in the first two segments. Malachi Lawrence, the edge rusher from UCF, has met with the Indianapolis Colts.
I believe there was another Chris Brasel, the wide receiver from Tennessee, also met with the Colts.
Romello Haid is not really an option for round two for the Colts, but I know that he's a play.
that if I would have asked the same question for round three,
probably would have been in the top five for Colts fans there.
So a couple of notable names breaking the list.
But I think what's really interesting for quarterbacks with reported meetings here.
Now, that might just be because the quarterback position is highly reported on compared to others.
But Garrett Nussmeier, Cole Payton, Luke Altmeier, and Barron Morton,
you know, four pretty prominent names at the quarterback position,
especially Nussmeier and Peyton,
who might go in that round three to five range.
range. I'm not saying they're going to draft one of those guys, but it is kind of interesting
that they're looking at that quarterback class. Yeah, this could be something where I know the Colts
meet with a lot of quarterbacks year to year. And I think it's because if your current quarterback
situation goes down and you need background information on guys a couple years down the road,
they do that a lot. So these moves could be as much for 20, 28 or something, you know, because
I mean, you drafted Garrett Nussmeyer, Cole, Peyton.
They're threatening Riley Leonard right away.
And I don't think the Colts are super interested in that.
Everything I've heard is that they fully intend on giving Leonard the keys to the car
until Daniel Jones gets back, you know?
That's not to say they won't make another move.
I just don't think they're super eager to do it.
Now, like a Luke Altmyre or Baron Morton, that could directly replace Seth Henigan,
which I think is perfectly fine.
because, I mean, you're at least going to need another guy on there once you trade Richardson.
Right. Yeah, no, I totally agree.
And I totally agree with your point about how the Colts usually just meet with a lot of quarterbacks in general.
Even when they've had a quarterback, we see them meet with a good amount of quarterbacks.
So I'm not saying it's an absolute bit of nothing that we've seen these quarterback reporting.
But I'm not as keen on those.
What I am kind of keen on, though, is they have met with a lot of receivers, a lot of, like, prominent receivers.
I mean, the ones that you have in here are Chris Brazel from Tennessee, Chris Bell from Louisville,
which I know that kind of coincided with his combine recheck.
So that's part of why they had him here.
But also Ted Hurst from Georgia State.
So I think that there's a little bit of buzz there with wide receiver.
I think there have been in a couple other wide receiver meetings that haven't been reported on as well.
So I do think they're doing a lot of homework on the wide receiver class.
And I do buy the fact that they're doing their due diligence on that position.
Yeah, there's no hiding this one.
I think they absolutely want to try and get a receiver on day two.
I'd be interested to see who Reggie Wayne has fallen in love with so far if he's gone to any pro days.
Right.
Because, I mean, he went to Texas's pro day and got 80 Mitchell.
He fell in love with Josh Downs at the Combine that year.
Like there is a track record of Reggie's interest in them drafting a guy in the top 100.
So you get a guy like Brazel or Bell or Hearst in the top 100.
So I would be very interested to see if one of those three guys goes because they all make sense.
Now, Chris Bell is coming back from an ACL, which that's the Chris Ballard special right there,
a guy coming back from a season-ending injury.
So Bell needs to recover a little bit longer.
He obviously hasn't done any pre-draft workouts.
We've talked about Hearst and Brousel quite a bit throughout the entire process.
Yeah, no, I think they would be really intriguing fits, big, long, athletic players.
Maybe not the perfect fits, what I'm looking for, but very Chris Ballard.
and what those guys bring.
Some other notable names here.
I mean, when we look at the defensive backs that they've had in here,
Devin Moore from Florida, Charles Demings from S.F. Austin,
Devin Marshall from NC State at corner, all big.
I mean, Marshall is not the best athlete,
but big, long man cover corners.
Marshall for not being a great athlete,
had a really good man coverage score last year at NC State.
Then we look at safety, and it's a really intriguing mix, right?
because Kilgore, more of your nickel, like, playmaker,
Lewis Moore, the guy who you just wish was a better athlete,
because he does a lot of good stuff on film.
And then I hope I'm saying the name right here.
Kepenna, Gushikin, or Gushkin, from Ole Miss,
absolute freak athlete that can play nickel and play special teams,
but not the most developed project in the world.
So some really intriguing names in the secondary,
like Gushikin, I think, would be more of like a late round flyer
to compete in camp, but more.
Moore, Kill Gore, both Moore is actually Lewis Moore and Devin Moore and Kilgore, I think, would be like fringe top 100 picks.
So maybe they're looking at some defensive backs in those top 100 picks as well.
Yeah, I mean, we've kind of wondered with Kenny Moore being on the trade block and then Justin Walley moving into that nickel spot.
They probably need depth in both spots now in the nickel and the boundary.
And like Devon Moore and Charles Demings both make a lot of sense in that like round four-ish range.
So, you know, the big, long corners with good traits.
Someone I did want to mention was Jackson Kulach from Miami of Ohio,
linebacker, but kind of a do-it-all guy.
I've seen him listed as an edge as well.
He's pretty interesting.
You know, you set him at Will linebacker and kind of let him cook do a few different things with him.
I don't know that he's a guy that's going to be drafted if he is, maybe seventh round or so.
But, you know, we could see them double up at linebacker.
and certainly a guy like this is, I think, worth catching a flyer on round seven.
And then a couple, like, tiny school or just, like, workout warrior type guys.
Kyle Dixon, receiver that Stephen Holder mentioned the other day from Culver Stockton,
big-time workout numbers.
I think he's got decent size as well, if I recall.
UR. Bernard from Nigeria, the guy that blew up the HBACU showcase.
We've talked about him a little bit.
And then like you mentioned,
Gushkin just makes all the sense of the world
as just a super athletic special teamer.
Like that's right at the Colts Alley.
Yeah, and one more I wanted to ask you about.
So you said that you were a little picky about how you added on here,
but you have Kalin Black,
the running back from Indiana on here.
Where did you kind of see his other,
like did you see like another visit besides just the local pro day?
Because I think Black is exactly what I would want in that running back room,
tough, physical, hard-nosed player to kind of combat what they have.
So I hope there's genuine interest in Kalin Black because I'm not trying to be Indiana bias here.
But I think of the Indiana players, like he'd be up there among my favorites to add to the Colts.
Yeah, I believe they've had a visit with him prior to the Pro Day.
It might have been a virtual or something, but I feel like I heard the first interest about him before the Pro Day was even announced.
So guys like him like Luke Altmeier was at the Pro Day, but he had a separate visit with him as well.
again, I think that one might have been virtual.
But Altmeyer, you know, that would be a push Seth Hennigan type move.
And I think it's noteworthy that they met with him multiple times.
You know, he was at the local pro day.
Because again, the local pro day, a million guys are there.
So you have to take that with a grain of salt.
But like guys they actually met with like Surat, Pons, Cooper.
Like they not only had those guys there, but they had meetings with them as well.
So it's pretty interesting.
Yeah.
So we will see that.
