Jalen Carlis and whoever starts a quarterback for the Colts this season are obviously the
biggest winners from the Colts 2025 draft class.

Hello, everyone, my name is Zach Hicks,
your resident film nerd over at horseshoehuddle.com.
I'm joined as always by our boots on the ground, Jake Arthur.
We are here diving into the winners and losers
of the Colts 2025 draft.
You know, winners and losers on the current roster, that is,
you know, just kind of basing it off of what the Colts did
and didn't do in the draft. And then we're also going to take a look at the Colts undrafted free agent
class, highlight a few guys that we think have a decent chance of making the team or, you know,
at least making some waves this offseason gets a little excited for a guy who likely won't make the
team. You know how undrafted free agents are. They're fun. It's a blast. We're going to dive
into that to close out today's show. But let's kick it off with the winners on the colts roster jake
Given what the colts did in the draft and I think before we get into you know, the macro stuff like oh
The offense is going to be better with tyler warren the defense be better with this guy
I think jalen carlye is not really getting any competition through the draft to be the colt starting linebacker alongside zayar franklin
Obviously makes him a huge winner. Now, again, we can complain all we want here, Jake, about the Colts not doing that
and kind of giving the spot to a former fifth round pick safety move to linebacker
who only played six games last year.
But if your car lies here, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Like day three picks do not get this opportunity very often.
He showed some good things last year
when he stepped on the field.
I think he's going to be a good fit for Luan Arumoz system,
but this is a fantastic opportunity for him.
Yeah, I like Jaylen Carlize, the player.
I just do think it was pretty brave of them
to entrust a guy who spent half the year injured as well.
Because, like, again, if you're telling me
Jalen Carlis, the player, what we saw in the field last year is your starter
going into this year as the will, I like that.
But again, there's no push that's been brought in for this at all.
Like Hunter Wohler, maybe that does it for you a little bit.
But I'm envisioning Willer more so being
their new Trevor Denbow, their new Grant Stewart.
You know, they need a core for a special teamer
because they lost a couple of those this off season.
And so Willer is a guy who I think they can plug into
a couple of different spots to provide depth,
but it's probably not really competition at will.
So unless they bring in a free agent or something,
because there's a couple small,
kind of small potatoes out there,
but I mean, they're rolling with Jalen Carlis
and just keeping their fingers crossed
that he stays healthy.
Now I do think he's a very good compliment
for Zaire Franklin.
Some of the things that Franklin lacks in coverage,
Carlis picks up.
Like if you look at their PFF grades, for example,
they very much marry up together
to make a good cohesive linebacker unit.
One of them ranked super low here
where it's a strength for the other guy and vice versa.
So I did say back before the draft,
I'm cool with Franklin and Carlis being the starters.
I just wish we would have saw a little more competition.
And really, Chris Ballard made no bones about it.
They missed out on, they probably wanted linebacker in this draft.
It didn't work out, but Jalen Carlis is their guy at will.
Yeah.
And even if they do go out there and bring in a veteran, say at like a one year close
to vet minimum contract,
you're still assuming that Carlis is going to get the inside track there.
So regardless, Carlis is the big winner here.
Like he's got like unless they took a linebacker on day two or day one in this class, Carlis was going to have that inside track.
The fact of the Colts just didn't even take one really at all outside of Bowler in round seven, who's a special teamer, means that he's a massive winner
in this draft class. So he's likely going to be the starter at Will next season.
And we'll see if he can stay healthy and be productive. Another set of winners I
had here, Jake, and this one might take a little bit more explaining, but Shane
Steichen and Lou Anarumo. Now, I know every team can kind of say this after the
draft class. You get more players and obviously the coaches are happy. But when we look at
Shane Steichen, obviously getting a threat like Tyler Warren, a guy who you can probably
add more context to this, but I promise you Shane Steichen was probably sweating on draft
day to get that kind of versatile talent in his offense and just getting a more like cohesive complementary player
there at tight end is so big for him. A guy who has used that tight end position so much in his
career finally has one capable of leading the charge as a pass catcher and a run blocker.
I think Shane Steichen's a big winner because he gets that kind of weapon at tight end for the
first time in three years with the Colts. And then we look at Lou Anarumo, you know, I just think this whole off season Anarumo has been a big winner with the
Colts because if you look at what he was walking into with this Colts defense coming this off
season, there was a lot of holes at corner at safety. You had players that didn't really fit
his type of system. And then you look at the signings of Traverrius Ward and Cam Bynum,
which I know don't necessarily apply to what we're doing here. But then you look at the signings of Traverius Ward and Cam Bynum, which I know
don't necessarily apply to what we're doing here. But then you look at the draft picks
that they made. JT Tumaloau at Edge is very much his type of edge rusher and Justin Wally
having the speed and the ball skills at corner. A couple other interesting players too. I
think those two coaches really made out well in this draft. And I think, you know, the
defense is ready to go right now. And I think the defense is ready to go right now.
And I think the offense is much closer to being ready to go
because they have a Tyler Warren.
I totally agree.
I think when it comes to the Stiken, there is,
this is only year three,
but it's really the most complete the offense
has appeared on paper so far.
There's just no excuse for him not to have,
to be able to do what he wants to
do at the offense.
If he wants it powered by the quarterback,
yeah, besides that, that comes with a caveat,
but it depends on what you're asking the quarterback to do.
But assuming that he wants to think of a power through the run.
Well, you've got some good run blockers out there.
I think you've got your starting five pretty much settled.
You might say you're gonna have some competition a little bit, but
we have a pretty good idea what the line is gonna look like.
You have three pretty decent running backs now and
I mean Taylor is still a star running back and the clue Herbert and
DJ Giddens I like that as depth quite a bit.
I think if Taylor misses a couple games,
I like what the Colts could still offer
with Herbert and Giddens.
And then obviously receiver to me
is one of the two deepest position groups
on the entire roster.
Next to corner, which goes to the point
with Lou and Aruma that you're talking about.
So a little bit of addition by subtraction out there
as well when it comes to free agency.
EJ Speed goes to the Texans,
so you automatically get a guy that's better in coverage with Jalen Carlis. You know, Julian
Blackman was not his best last year, so you don't know what version of him you're getting. For my
money, he's still a good player, and the shoulder was just the big outlier there. But Campinem is an ascending player that's pretty perfect for this defense.
So and then of course, Taven Bryan, Raekwon Davis,
you're kind of getting some upgrades there with what you've added.
So I think both sides of the ball look a lot cleaner
right now than they did going into last year.
And I know we always find like our rosy spots to get pretty psyched about, but
genuinely there are some holes here, but I think this roster looks better than
it did when the season ended.
Yeah.
This is probably the best I felt about a Colts roster since maybe 2021.
Now that comes to the caveat.
This is probably the worst I felt about the Colts quarterback room
since that year as well.
So we'll see what happens there, but I do feel good about this overall roster.
I think it's a pretty talented roster on paper right now.
And we'll see what can happen there.
We have a few other winners as well.
Matt Consolves basically winning a starting job,
going to right guard likely next season.
I think that makes you a winner
when you're going into your second year in the NFL
and you're essentially going to be a starter.
And also these quarterbacks,
whoever the quarterback is going to be
for the Colts this season, Anthony Richardson, Daniel Jones, you have to be just elated
to see the selection of Tyler Warren because it just makes the offense so much
better again, just getting that kind of unicorn player that kind of goes hand in
hand with the Shane Steichen comment where it's like, your life is so much
easier as a quarterback when you have a Tyler Warren, especially a guy where you
can dumb it to him in the flats and he can turn a one yard gain into a 10 yard game.
That just makes your life so much better as a quarterback. So honestly, you know, you know, it's funny in a way they're winners these quarterbacks, but also there's no excuse. Now you really don't get any excuse if like you have a good play caller who has mostly done some really good things in the NFL.
a good play caller who has mostly done some really good things in the NFL. You get a star running back and offensive line where like, yeah, there's a couple of questions that for the most part could
be pretty good, good wide receiver room. And now you have a good young tight end, whoever the starting
quarterback is for the goals this season, like it's where you're ready to go. You have a lot of
weapons at your disposal. So a little bit more pressure, but you're a winner because you actually
have some talent around you. Absolutely. And that's what we said they needed to do in order to get a good adequate
competition and to give these guys the best chance of actually stepping forward and earning the
spot. You had to support them as much as possible. So you maybe wanted to see a little more added to
the line, but like by adding Travis, it kind of moves some other things into place that you like.
Again, the running game, we like that.
The receiver group is already good.
And now you've completed the passing game with the pass catcher
portion of it with, with tight end.
And I think this especially sets up well for Anthony Richardson, because
again, there is no excuse now you're a quarterback who also can rely
heavily on your running.
So you have a good portion of your game that's not even based on passing.
So there's there's still hope for him to be considered the franchise quarterback.
If he can stay healthy and he stabilizes his game.
So, I mean, they both have a lot to lose because this is Jones last chance to be a starter in the NFL.
Yeah, Anthony Richardson still has a little bit longer over rope and can
still be considered a franchise guy. I think this sets up really well for
Anthony to be considered one of the big winners. But guys when you got winners
you got to talk about losers as well so that's what we'll get at here in a moment.
The NBA playoffs are here. The Pacers have taken care of the bucks and Fandol
is giving new customers an incredible way to get in on all of the action. Right now, when you join
Fandol and place your first $5 bet, you're going to get 250 back and bonus bets if that $5 bet wins.
I personally love how Fandol makes betting super easy, whether it's picking the pacers
to win their playoff matchups or diving into player props.
You can bet on three-pointer, steals, assists, whatever.
Fandle's got so many ways to bet on your favorite player props.
Plus, after the game tips off, you can even combine all of those live prop bets into a
same game parlay for a chance to win big.

All righty guys, we are back talking about
the biggest losers on this Colts roster
from the 2025 NFL Draft.
And I think we have to kick this off
starting at the cornerback position, Jake,
because I kind of been saying this a lot since we saw the Justin Wally pick. 2025 NFL draft and I think we have to kick this off starting at the cornerback position Jake because
I kind of been saying this a lot since we saw the Justin Wally pick.
Louie and Rumo's not tied to any of these corners that were currently on the roster. Like don't get me wrong, I think Kenny Moore is very much his type of guy. I don't think there's
any threat to Kenny Moore but aside from Kenny, when he walked into this team I'm not sure he was
looking at any of these corners on the roster saying like, these are my type of corners. Now, I certainly think
Jalen Jones has a good track record in the NFL and can certainly win a starting job.
And I think Sam Womack did some good things last year. But when you're looking at just
what those guys bring, I don't think any of them really screamed Lou Anarumo corner, but
they were relatively safe to compete for that second outside corner job because there wasn't any more outside
competition brought in.
So the second that Justin Wally was selected in round three, this playmaking, fast, explosive
corner that really, really fits Lou Anarumo, then I think it kind of got a little worrisome
for Jalen Jones, Sam Womack and Juju Brentz.
And, you know, Jones, I think, will certainly be on the team next year.
But the other two guys, I'm not too sure how much longer they're going to be in Indy unless they have great camps and for one of them stay healthy.
So I think obviously the biggest losers are the corners that were on the roster heading into the draft because the additions of Charvarius Ward, the addition of Justin Wally and then even to a lesser degree,
Ballentine to take some of those special teams snaps.
I'm not too sure how many of these, these three other guys make the team.
Like I think Jones will, but I'm not sure about the other two.
Yeah, I feel a lot better about Jones cause I,
I know he has no equity with Lou Anna Rummo,
but he has been the team's top outside corner
for the last two years.
So I think that speaks for something.
And regardless, I think Chris Ballard
doesn't necessarily have a say in the lineups,
but I think his voice would be pretty well respected
and when he said, well, let's give this guy a chance.
When you look at Womack,
I see Wally as a one-for-one replacement of Womack because he see Wally as a one for one replacement of Womack
because he's an upgrade in a lot of different areas that Womack provides. Now, don't get
me wrong, I think Womack is a great corner to have on your roster, but we're looking
at guys that have kind of been squeezed out of the room at this point because like you
mentioned Valentine, I think because of his special teams prowess feels safe. Like even
if he has a disastrous camp on defense,
that's not what they brought him in for anyways.
So you would love to see him be able to play there,
but I don't think they envision seeing him
take a single defensive snap this year.
So they got him in for special teams.
Wally versus Wilmack definitely feels more Wally.
And then Brents to no
fault of anybody's he can't stay on the on the field. So for him it feels very
much like a Jelani Woods thing for me where it's like you can't move forward
with him as one of your primary options being in the plans. He's just there and
whatever he can give you is great but you cannot count on him to play like a significant role
because if you do that, then you're going to be screwed
when something inevitably happens.
So when it comes to Wally, I see him being like no worse
than like the fourth corner really,
because I do think Jones could still be a starter.
Obviously Ward is, I think Kenny Moore is going to be
on the field a lot too.
Cause people tend to also forget,
like Kenny's the slot corner,
but he's also the starting outside corner in base defense.
So Kenny's a thousand snap guy.
So it's most of it gonna be Charvarius Ward and Kenny.
So yeah.
Sorry, not to interrupt you there,
but they won't play much base this next season.
Lou doesn't play much base.
It'll maybe be like 10 to 15 percent of the snaps.
But to your credit, 10 to 15 is still a couple hundred snaps.
So like, yeah, you know, we will see Kenny out there a lot.
Yeah, I mean, we definitely know who the top two corners and snaps will be.
But right. Yeah.
So it definitely feels like Brince Brinson, Womack primarily
would be the biggest stock down guys on this.
I would also point at long term at defensive end, Quidipay and Taekwond Lewis.
Right.
As more of the strong side defensive ends, that's what JT Tua Malauau is.
Samson Abukom, I mean, they all kind of played somewhat similar roles, but like Samson Abukom
was your weak side guy before where Quiddie was your
strong side. And then that's what Taekwon's supposed to be as well. Laatu Laatu's role isn't
going to diminish. It's only going to keep getting greater. So with those guys only having one year
left on their contracts anyways, their replacement's kind of already on the roster. Yeah. My weird take
with Quiddie Pay though, is that like in a way he's a winner and a
loser but probably more of a loser because like this does hurt his chances of being an
indie long term.
But I do think having JT to a Maloa on the team takes some of the pressure off Quiddy
as a run defender and might open him up more a little bit as a pass rusher, especially
say maybe on passing downs you put JT inside at like three tech to rush from the three tech spot.
Quiddy can be more of a speed rusher on the outside. Can you have JT cleaning it up from the interior?
So maybe Quiddy can have more energy reserved for passing downs this season,
but it certainly hurts his chances of getting a long-term contract from the Colts when you have a player who more so fits Louis
and Arumo coming in here and and heck he might take some more the base down snaps this season because I think JT Tumalo is a fantastic run defender.
So I do think it hurts him a little bit. Taekwon Lewis I do think falls a lot out of the rotation
and it might be tough for him to make this team when you're looking at you know there's
four guys ahead of him and then if it comes down to a fifth rusher do you keep him or
do you keep this Isaiah land project that you've been working on for a couple years? I'm not sure if Tyquan Lewis makes it. Like I know
Chris Ballard loves him, but again, Luan Arumo is the guy making the calls now. So if Anna
Arumo doesn't love him, then who knows? So we'll see there. The other big loser that
I highlighted though, and we kind of anticipated this regardless of who they added, but especially
with a fourth round pick being added, Blake Freeland as the rotational tackle.
Now if he comes into camp and looks bigger, stronger, and has worked out some of his anchoring
issues, he can certainly make this team.
The Colts are not going to turn down good offensive linemen, but it's really now or never for
him.
Like he needs to have a very strong camp at backup left tackle, right tackle, whatever
it's going to be,
because Travis, in my opinion, is way more ready to go than he is.
Travis is so much stronger and just more powerful in his game.
And they're not going to wait forever for this for this project.
I mean, I think Freeland's like 26 already.
It's not like he's, you know, 22 and still figuring out he came out as like a 24 year old.
So I think he's like 26 now.
So it's really now or never for Blake Freeland.
I still think there's a chance he's got the traits,
he's got the goods in terms of his athleticism.
But when you look at it, I'm more optimistic about Travis long term
as a younger, more powerful player who put out better film
last year than Freeland did at all in college.
So I'm more optimistic about Travis,
but you know, Freeland's really on his last legs right now with the Colts.
Yeah, for sure. And I mean, it would be, it's going into year three with the same offensive line coach,
the same offensive line coach who has done wonders for other guys.
So that puts a big question mark on your chest of like, okay, well, everyone else is kind of progressing and moving forward.
What's going on with you? Are you just not gonna get there? So, I mean, Travis was definitely brought in to, you know,
to keep in mind for a swing tackle replacement
for Braden Smith, you know, to free Matt Gonzalez up
from those swing tackle duties to perhaps play right guard.
So all those things in consideration,
it was in spite of having Blake Freeland.
So, I mean, that that I think that speaks volumes
that Jalen Travis coming in before like a right guard was
brought in. I think the writing is kind of on the wall there.
Yeah. And one last note about Freeland is last year, like I
know, looking back on it's hard to think this way. But like
Consolvus was a higher draft selection than Freeland was,
but Gonsalves had the unfortunate struggle
of coming off a major injury in college,
going straight into his rookie season
and competing for a key spot on this Colts team,
that swing tackle.
And we know that rookie offensive tackle struggle.
And there wasn't even a debate from the Colts
on who was the swing tackle for most of last season.
It was Gonsalves all year.
So Gonsalves as a rookie coming off a major injury was a lot further ahead than
Freeland was in year two.
I think Travis is going to be ahead of Freeland as well.
But again, I'm not closing the book on a guy.
That's what training camp is for.
Hopefully he can get out there and perform.
But that's all for our winners and losers are basically our stock up stock down with
the Colts following the 2025 NFL draft.
Now let's devote a segment to the undrafted free agents.
Let's tell you guys which of these these lower end guys from small schools are worth getting
excited about and do any of these guys actually have a chance to make the opening day roster
coming next season?
Do you ever check your bank account and wonder where did all of my money go?
Between dining out, online shopping and entertainment, it's easy to lose track.
The cost of being alive is just truly exhausting.
But that's where Monarch Money comes in.
It's your personal CFO giving you full visibility and control over your finances.
Monarch Money isn't just a budgeting app either.
It's a complete financial command center.
You can track all your accounts, investments,
and spending all in one place
so that you can stop just managing your money
and actually start building wealth.
When I started using Monarch,
I realized just how much I was spending on food delivery.
Now I budget smarter and save more.
I've now cut back on things like gas for my car
and paying my mortgage all so that I can eat as much Chipotle as I want. But you
know, instead of juggling multiple apps you can also use Monarch to check your
finances, track spending, and even plan long-term goals. Take control of your
finances with Monarch Money. Use code LOCKDOWNNFL at MonarchMoney.com for 50% off of your first year.
That's MonarchMoney.com, code LOCKDOWNNFL
for half off of your first year.
All righty, Locked On Colts every day
as we are back talking about this Colts
undrafted free agent class.
And much to my chagrin, we have to start with the guy
with the most likely chance of making this team. So I'm going to let Jake introduce you guys to Maddox Trujillo,
the temple kicker that the cult sign. Look, as much as I hate kickers and trust me, I
do hate them so much, I do think spending an undrafted free agent contract is the best
way to acquire them. I personally love undrafted free agent contracts to kickers
because that's all they're worth in my eyes.
So having Spencer Schrader coming back
after being on one last year
and then getting Maddox Trujillo,
much better for me than a Matt Gay contract.
But Jay, tell us all about Maddox Trujillo
from your little bit of research on him.
No, I think it's a,
I don't want to say it's a 50-50 competition with him and
Spencer Schrader, but I'm not going to completely discount that he has a chance. So he was one of
the higher rated kickers out there and there was a mini run on kickers that happened there at the
end of the draft. He had a round six, round seven grade. He wasn't just slapped with the priority
for agent designation. So this guy does have a big leg.
He is known as a guy who's able to convert from beyond 60 yards.
He's done it multiple times before.
So while I do believe the Colts that Matt Gay was let go because of their
confidence in Spencer Schrader, that they're not just gonna hand a guy who was
just last year, a rookie free agent, a job scott free.
They're gonna have a little bit of competition,
give Schrader a little bit of discomfort.
But yeah, Trujillo, I don't expect him to be the guy.
They're gonna try and keep two kickers around a lot,
so he's probably just gonna be a practice squad,
but something to keep an eye on nonetheless.
And with that, we don't have to talk
about kickers anymore for you.
Thank you.
I very much appreciate it there.
The other guy that really stood out to me
when we're talking about like real football players,
when it comes to the sport that we're covering here,
demons have tackled Joe Evans from UTSA.
Now this is on the complete other side of the spectrum here.
Kickers usually weigh less than I do.
Joe Evans, 337 pounds.
I'd have to really commit to get up to that weight
right there, Jake.
Joe Evans, man, I watched a little bit of his film.
First off, I love the single digit on a 337 pound guy.
That is the greatest thing I've ever seen.
I think he wore different single digits in college, too.
I saw like zero in the past.
I think it was like, was it like seven or five?
I think it was five this past year.
I wonder if UTSA has the thing where they have like
a number that like they give to like
their biggest leader or something.
Yeah, the temple tough stuff.
I know what you're talking about there.
But yeah, man, Joe Evans, he's fun.
Like he can move a little bit, he's big.
He just eats up space.
And again, we've been calling this for years with the Colts.
We just need bigger dudes on the interior.
Taven Bryan playing one tech, Eric Johnson at like 295 pounds playing one tech.
I mean, Rayquan Davis was huge, but he couldn't stay in the middle.
So look, if Joe Evans can just eat up some space, do a little bit of two gapping work
and allow these linebackers to get around him, I think he can certainly be a practice
squad guy or maybe someone who gets a roster spot if there's some injuries.
So I'm intrigued by Joe Evans. I'm not going to call him a roster lock by any chance, but
I'm very much intrigued. And I also think from the reported numbers I've seen so far,
he was the biggest guarantee they've given to an undrafted free agent this year. Now
that's only like 30K. So it's all like the lower end for like biggest across the league. But I do think that is the biggest one that you've given out most of the other ones
I've seen have been like 10 to 15 K and guarantees
So, you know the cult should shell out a little bit more for Joe Evans
So maybe that that's usually like a decent indicator of like how much they value getting that guy in here
So Evans might be like their biggest named or like biggest overall guide they brought in
Yeah, I like this just from the competition aspect.
They now have like an even number of depth pieces they're having to compete behind Buckner
and Stewart.
I mean, behind Buckner, you have Gallimore and Tommy and then behind Stewart, you have
Tim Smith and now Joe Evans.
So I like that a lot again, 63 37 dude is a unit.
If he serves no other purpose than just making the
third team defense look a little better and you can evaluate the linebackers a little
better because of the space he is allowing. I'm all for it. I don't really, I mean, some
of these guys are going to make it because the Colts entered the draft with just 69 rostered
players added eight more. So like there's definitely room to add, you know,
some of these guys may make it. We'll see a couple of defensive backs make a lot of sense as well.
So you've got cornerback Jonathan Edwards from Tulane and safety Trey Washington from Ole Miss.
Tulane is not a small school by any stretch. It's a pretty reputable school. They're going to put
guys in the league most years. So these are two guys I think are worth watching.
Now Edwards, it's tricky.
It depends how much the Colts want to overturn their cornerback room, because
obviously it, it seems stacked right now.
Like there's just not much room, but you never know.
This could be a Dallas flowers type of situation where we did not expect
Dallas flowers to make it as a rookie.
And he did.
Uh, so you're looking at that there, Trey Washington, five 10, two Oh five, you know,
just by proxy of there really being no other strong safety on the roster other than knit
cross.
If he shows out this summer, then he makes a lot of sense.
It makes more sense than Daniel Scott, Marcel Dabo, even Rodney Thomas.
I mean, you gotta have something else there
in that safety room.
And if this guy looks good this summer,
then why the heck not?
I don't know, Jake, we kind of like Daniel Scott here.
Don't sleep on him.
Don't sleep on Daniel Scott this off season.
I just, I mean, if we could get him to training camp,
that'd be sick.
I mean, it's nobody's fault.
I mean, we have trumpeted him for two years now, but I mean, he is definitely's fault. I mean, I know we have trumpeted him for two years now
But I mean, he is definitely in the Jelani woods and Juju Brintz
Category of if they're there and camp and when the season starts, that's great
But you can't move forward with him in the plans really right right and one thing I will say about the
Undrafted free agents that you just mentioned Edwards if I were Edwards
The first thing I would do when I get into campus, say, like,
let me play nickel corner, because that's your that's your route to making the team
is playing nickel corner. He's got the size six, one, two hundred, four, three, nine,
40 yard dash explosive player. Like, I'm not saying I watched every snap of his college career,
so I'm not too sure about his overall play on the field. But the path to making this team
say like, look, I want to play some nickel corner
Let me get some nickel corner reps if you know if he has that kind of voice in the room obviously to get that chance
But that's his route to making the team. I like the size
I like the physicality that he can bring with that size and you know that again that that's how you can make the roster
So I hope I hope for his sake that's kind of where he's going there
We have a lot of wide receivers at the Colts sign that's how you can make the roster. So I hope for his sake, that's kind of where he's going there.
We have a lot of wide receivers at the Colts sign.
And I think they just obviously need reps
for their third or fourth string quarterbacks.
We got Blaine Taylor from Abilene Christian, 6'3", 2'12".
I think he ran like four fours or like high four three.
He is your prototypical height, weight, speed guy
that has trouble catching the ball.
He's Martavis Bryant.
Perfect.
Hey, I'll take Martavius Bryant any day of the week.
Well, as long as he's on the field.
And then I think the Troy receiver was Landon Parker,
I believe was his name.
It's like six foot three, 212,
height, weight, speed, super high RAS guy.
And then Tyler Common, I think,
came in, Common, from Emporia State,
who Jake told me is Cooper Cup.
Like, I can't believe the Colts got this guy
in undrafted free agency.
Like, I don't know why he was hiding in Emporia State.
No, he profiles as a Cooper Cup guy,
but mostly from the slot.
I mean, six foot, 207.
He's well built, respectable speed,
but is much more a savvy guy
who just knows where the defenses and coverage and can get open that way.
He's not he's not an athletic freak show by any means.
Plus, when you have two white receivers, you have to kind of combine them into one.
So that's why it's Cooper Cup.
That's true.
That's true.
So you got to correct me if I'm wrong here, Jake.
I just can't because I know we had for the longest time that undrafted for agent streak
with the Colts. It was like 20 something years like 20 years. I think it got to 21
Yeah, and then there was a year none of them made it and it's been maybe two years since and okay
Then two years in a row. I think at least one year in a row
Yeah, that someone's made it look at our connection there
Jake you knew where I was going with that that long-winded question
Because Denbo was one that made it and there were there's been
there have been guys since that streak, but I don't think there was one last year.
Denbo might have.
I think Denbo restarted it the year before him was the first one without.
Yeah. So I think it was like a two year stretch.
And then last year they didn't have one.
So it starts over again.
So we'll see if any of these guys can can, you know, start a new streak.
My money again
would be on Matic's Trujillo as the best chance just because kickers so like Schrader can just
forget how to kick tomorrow and then Trujillo has the inside track to win the job like that's how
kicker works. So there's a decent chance for that to happen actually. And then maybe Trey Washington
would be my second favorite just because there's no safeties on the roster besides the starters
So I need to go watch some Trey Washington film actually when I last time I looked at the undrafted for agent list
I didn't see him. So he must have been like a later edition for those. Yeah, he was like the day after I think okay, okay
So that's a new name. I really need to watch because safety they don't have any on the roster
Yeah So that's a new name I really need to watch because safety. They don't have any on the roster. Yeah.
Now, if this guy and you could say that about Edwards as well, if they just say, Hey, put
me a gun or put me on all the special teams do that because they're, they're not going
to make the roster by what they do in the defensive team drills.
They're going to catch Brian Mason's eye first.
That's how they're going to have to make it.
And then whatever they've done on defense, they just have to show enough on
defense that they're going to keep getting better.
But by doing their absolute best on special teams, that's how they're going to make it.
So Trujillo in Washington, obviously I think they have the inside track just
because their positions are the weakest.
Edwards is very intriguing.
He's the most aesthetically pleasing and swaggiest of the group.
And then you might have one or two of the linebackers as well.
They are very highly rated coming in.
But I think the Colts would be fine with
turning Cameron McGrone or Liam Anderson or Austin Ajiaki.
Like one of the one of the under-acted linebackers
might be able to knock
one of those guys off.
Yeah, look at Edward.
Edwards is going to be our heartbreak this offseason.
He is going to be the one we fall in love with and it's going to end poorly.
The one I make it to.
