Starting point is 00:00:00 Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson returned to practice after suffering a dislocated pinky against the Baltimore Ravens. But was his return good enough? Let's get to it. You are Locked-on Colts, your daily Indianapolis Colts podcast. Part of the Locked-on Podcast Network,
Starting point is 00:00:25 your team every day. Thank you all for tuning in and making us your first listen of the day. It's your daily podcast covering your Indianapolis Colts, part of the Locked-on podcast network, your team every single day. Hello, everyone. My name is Zach Hickshaw, resident Philner,
Starting point is 00:00:40 to PorscheU-Huddle.com, and my partner, Jake Arthur, is our credentialed boots on the ground for the site. We're turning to the ground today, Jake, after driving all day yesterday, getting back to it at Colts facility for another Colts training camp practice. Day 11, first practice following the preseason loss
Starting point is 00:00:57 to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. And we're going to bring to you guys our normal scheduling here on the show. We're going to talk about news and notes. We're going to talk about the quarterbacks. We're going to talk about the offense and the defense. So first up, injuries, guys who missed practice today. Nick Cross, Jalen Jones, Juju Brent, Jalen Carlis, Danny Pinter, DJ Montgomery. Is it Seth McKeon?
Starting point is 00:01:19 Seth McKeon, Seth McKeon, I think. Seth McKeon. McKeon is how he said, okay, cool. We get pronunciation right on this show. And Solomon DeShields, the linebacker was all out. We're all out today. Jones and Juju and Carlize, we've had some clarity on in the past. We'll have to see how serious the other injuries are next time, Jake,
Starting point is 00:01:37 and the other beat guys get to talking to Shane Steichen. But, yeah, I mean, not too many crazy injuries. I mean, I feel like half the team's already heard anyway, so you can't have more anyway, right? Knock on wood, but we'll see going forward with this Colts team. It says here in the notes, too, that the Colts did dodge some bullets with Anthony Richardson and JT. 2 and Malowow. They were both back on the practice field today, and then Charverius Ward was also back out there. Did he get a full workload today, Jake, or was it more like the 50-50 stuff? Honestly, I stopped looking after I noticed he was there. His workload
Starting point is 00:02:13 probably was held back a little bit if I had to guess, but I'll keep track tomorrow. Cool. Yeah, I mean, he's been getting that 50-50 workload. Charverius Ward, along with DeForest Buckner, the two guys where, like, if they just took one snap in teens and called it a day, I'd be fine with that because these are star players. I don't care if they're out there in the training camp. I don't want them getting hurt anyway. But let's get to the quarterback conversation. Anthony Richardson was back on the field after suffering a dislocated pinky on his
Starting point is 00:02:40 throwing hand by all reports from Jake and from other beatwriters. It looked like the velocity was still there with him, like he was still able to get some heat on the ball, but not the most accurate day from the young quarterback. Jake, what did you see from Richardson today? and did it really change how you view this quarterback battle? I mean, I guess in line with what happened Thursday as well? Not really. I think if Daniel Jones would have had like a knockout day on Thursday,
Starting point is 00:03:07 then maybe we would think about it differently. It does suck to tack this on as yet another thing, injury-wise for Anthony. And I get it. If it was a regular season game, he probably would have gone back in and he was back the next time at practice. But at the same time, it's just another thing. you know i mean it's it's yet another tally on the board um so i think that will always have to be
Starting point is 00:03:29 in the back of their head it already was going into this uh but as far as performance wise goes i don't think there's been enough separation yet to definitively say give it to one guy um now a problem i'm going to have with this is if anthony barely gets to play only gets to have like that half of a quarter that Jones was initially supposed to have back on Thursday, and Daniel Jones gets to spend like most of his time with starters, because that's not 50-50. That is not giving these guys the same opportunity. Now, I know Anthony didn't, he got hurt and he didn't get to experience the entirety of the workload he was supposed to in week one, but at the same time, the only starting offensive linemen he had were the only guys that needed reps, Gonzalez and
Starting point is 00:04:19 Portolini. The three guys who we all know about already, Ryman, Braden Smith, and Quentin Nelson weren't out there. There weren't starting players out there with them at skill positions other than Tyler Warren, really. So I won't really consider a fair 50-50 opportunity if that's going to be the case. We'll talk to Shane probably tomorrow, I think, and get a little more clarity on it. But it's just very tough. I think everything you've seen from Jones so far, summer has been fine, steady, solid, but unspectacular, which to me, your offense would have to be very, very heavily based on the run game and just like kind of the short, rhythmic, quick passing game, which is fine if you think he's going to occasionally test things
Starting point is 00:05:09 downfield. But with Anthony, I think I've seen enough growth where I don't feel like he's just like totally lost out there. You know, like last year they said they pulled him because he was drowning. He doesn't, it doesn't seem like such a chaotic mess like it did last year. And there were signs of that happening even last summer, I think, you know, going into the preseason games as well. So as long as that remains the case, like I think this is probably a battle that goes down to the wire. I'm curious if Anthony's injury lengthens the time frame of them naming a starter at all, because I think they're also probably going to have to adjust the blank.
Starting point is 00:05:49 time that they had initially allotted for the second preseason matchup, I don't think they're going to be able to do the quarter and a half versus half quarterfling. So I don't know, it's tough. You hate to see days like this from Anthony, though. I think just him being available today was a win in itself, but at the same time, they were in the red zone the entire day, and Daniel Jones looked really good, and Anthony did not. He was one of six today. Anthony was. his loan completion was like a five-yard slant to Pierce. Meanwhile, Jones had like several touchdowns between seven and sevens and eleven on 11s. Anthony did have some touchdowns when seven and sevens got involved as well,
Starting point is 00:06:30 but that's not what's going to be happening. I will say you're probably not going to ask Anthony to pass a ton in the red zone as is if you're in the regular season. But at the same time, you still have to pass that test and prove capable of doing it. So all that to say this is that I don't have a definitive way I'm leaning at this point. Honestly, I think Thursday probably made the waters a little more murkier for me. Yeah, I would say that leading up to that Thursday game from everything we had heard, everything we'd seen from Anthony Richardson, I would have said that he would have had the slight lead
Starting point is 00:07:07 because even if it was 50-50, you lean Richardson in that situation. And my big thing is with these preseason games, each of these quarterbacks were going to get a game to really put their best foot forward and showcase what they can do. And maybe that does change with Shane. Maybe Shane Seichen says Richardson's going to get more of the Packers game because Jones got more of the Ravens game. We will see. But the two biggest questions coming into this offseason for Anthony Richardson were the
Starting point is 00:07:31 fundamentals and staying healthy. Those were the two biggest things. And in his first live action audition in this quarterback battle, what were the two things that failed on the fourth play of the game? The fundamentals of knowing. where the slide protection was, knowing where the rush was coming, and being able to at least brace yourself for the hit and then suffering an injury. Like, he was lucky to get out of that with a very minor injury that was able to get back to practice the next day. But again, like,
Starting point is 00:07:59 in your first real audition of the offseason, an off season where you've been trending in the right direction, this felt like a major step back, where Jones comes in the game, and I'm not saying Daniel Jones lit it up. He was Daniel Jones. He was true and true Daniel Jones. The reference I put out there on social media that he's all filler, no killer, you know, the opposite of that some 41 album where you're not going to get any hits, but you're going to get just a lot of filler, a lot of perfectly fine stuff from him. He looks like a coach's son out there. He's going to operate the offense the way you want it run. If guys are open, they will have a completion. If guys are not open, they won't have a completion. That's basically how it's going to be with
Starting point is 00:08:35 Daniel Jones. And it's such a hard thing for a coaching staff to look at because on the one hand, yes, Richardson's been progressing. And yes, he has this sky. high upsides still at such a young age but again if you can't get the fundamentals and you can't stay healthy i have this perfectly fine all filler right next to me that can that can just get my offense done and especially if you believe in the past catchers and the playmakers and believe in the guys that you're putting out there in your system then i understand leaning that direction so again i'm with you i think the waters are a lot murkier right now i think it it is a lot closer about than what it was going into Thursday. We'll see how things changed because that was
Starting point is 00:09:16 just one data point and there's still more data points to be collected. But as of right now, just thinking in terms of the coaching staff, I would understand why they would lean Daniel Jones right now because again, your biggest concerns with Anthony Richardson got amplified on such a big scale on Thursday. And like, who knows, next time you give them another shot against the Packers, does it happen again? Because it's what his whole career has been up to this point. You know, So at some point, you know, you can have hope, you can have faith, and you kind of optimism with Anthony Richardson. But at some point, there needs to be production with that. And we just haven't seen it in any way, including this preseason game.
Starting point is 00:09:54 So he needs to step up when the bullets are flying. And so far, he hasn't done that. And again, Jones wasn't spectacular, but he was just Daniel Jones. He was what you signed. You know, he was kind of what you expected. So I understand if the coaching staff were to lean that way after Thursday's game. one thing I'm pretty curious about is let's say you're not ready to start Anthony this you know for week one have a feeling it's not a thing where well we don't want to see him all
Starting point is 00:10:22 a year and you can't predict that Daniel is going to get hurt at a certain point even though he's not really out of clean bill of health in his career but like there are things to iron out with Anthony that I think you could absolutely get him on the field and playable like this year so do you just ride with those bumps until you say he should be clear by you know we think these big issues are going to be done by like mid season or something because that's that's kind of my thing is if you if you name a starter you obviously have the intentions of wanting that guy to be the starter all year and it it i think anthony is so close that if you if you name daniel the starter it's like well, I don't want to not see Anthony at all this year because I do feel like you're missing out on a big chunk of like your offense could get elevated so much more.
Starting point is 00:11:19 So I think that's such a tricky thing. And I think honestly, I don't know how much like Chris Ballard and ownership are going to factor into as well. But I think this is going to be like, I think this is going to be a decision where a lot of conversations are had together. Ultimately, it'll be Shane's call. but like there's going to be a lot of strong opinions in the background on this one because again it's not just about week one it's kind of a commitment for the year and we know better around here multiple guys are going to wind up playing throughout the season like there's not even a non-zero chance that Riley Leonard gets on the field but like you start someone with the intention of it
Starting point is 00:11:58 riding the whole way out and so god there's just there's so much to consider when they when they get down to this and I initially thought they might make the call after the Packers game and I don't know man like it's probably going to go you know beyond training camp which ends this week but like it could go you know closer to cut time at this morning now I will say one thing I'll say before we move to the next segment I don't think Carly's going to be involved with any decision because I think she's just going to sit back this year not officially yeah see what they are doing and then make her decision after the year based on what they did this year so I think Chris Ballard's going to have a huge impact here. I think Shane Steichen's going to have a big impact and these
Starting point is 00:12:36 quarterbacks are. I think Carly's fine. We're just sitting back and watching and seeing what's going to happen here. But that's just speculation on my point there. We will definitely see as the season progresses. But coming up, guys, we're going to talk about the rest of the offense and how our practice superstar returned to form after an up and down game on Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. Starting point is 00:15:22 Welcome back every dayers. We are talking day 11 of Indianapolis Colts training camp. on the heels of a joint practice and preseason loss last Thursday against the Ravens. They got back on the field today. Dodge some bullets injury-wise, but some others, maybe not so much. And I wanted to kind of catch you guys up real quick on some of the roster moves that were made, because lots to do here on the offensive side of the ball. So I know Justin Wally tearing his ACL, he lands on IR.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Salvin Ahmed did as well. Liam Anderson, waved injured. So basically those three guys, you know, Kaputzki for the year. The Colts brought in former Giants offensive tackle Marcellus Johnson, cornerback BJ Mays, who I was actually pretty high on before the draft. And it totally flew over my head. That's who they signed. And a couple running backs, Nate Noel and the guy's name is cut off.
Starting point is 00:16:19 So we're not going to worry about it. But they brought in two new running backs. on right that's it they uh their website had the name cut off so yeah two new running backs coming in uh so yeah if you're like me and you were up to different stuff yesterday you missed about 19 roster moves that they went through uh but the action on the field today uh stop me if you've heard this ad mitchell had a dominant performance why was that on thursday ad come on let's let's let's bring it to the games i'm not saying he was bad on thursday right we'll talk about in a second but go into the practice like I just need to get that out of my system real quick work in progress
Starting point is 00:16:57 work in progress it's you know you got to get the comfort and the confidence down there and then the rest will come he is at least a guy where I don't like last year at a certain point I was I was uh kind of doubtful whether his issues were fixable because I was like if it feels like you're scared of contact and you're not on the same page ever I just don't know if those are things that will click at a certain point and I I've seen real growth and there's like everybody around the team acknowledges it you know last year they acknowledged that the times were tough but he was really good around runner and and things like that I think guys are seeing real actual development from him and yeah so they were in the red zone all day today four touchdowns
Starting point is 00:17:45 between seven on sevens and 11 on 11s uh from both anthony and daniel jones And, you know, that's good because, I mean, if you can find a guy who is really excelling in the red zone, then that's great. I'm still skeptical about his 50-50 prowess. You know it's there, but will he be aggressive enough to do it? The good thing is, though, when you're in those tight quarters in the red zone, especially when you're literally in the end zone, a guy who could separate like he can as a huge asset. And that's where most of these come. They're not like big, you know, fade routes or anything. It's him dragging across the end zone and getting wide open and leaving his defender in the dust,
Starting point is 00:18:26 which he does as good as anyone in the league. So he's finding ways to get himself open in the red zone. Don't know how much that's going to present itself in the regular season. Just personnel-wise, I don't know how well that fits. But he could do it, at least on the practice field. Yeah, A.D. Mitchell, I don't think he was bad on Thursday. I think on true dropbacks and true passing plays, he was actually. pretty good had a couple really nice routes and came away with some good receptions but we're
Starting point is 00:18:55 still lacking the little things from him the little things when when the bullets are flying like we say with anthony richardson and daniel jones like that just separate good from bad and separate great from awful you know when it comes to players uh there were several plays where there were loaths out there from him i think in particular on pretty much every rPO it looked like he was treating them like designated run plays and then he just wasn't doing his assignment well rather whether it was bad releases off the line, improper releases, blocking, and then the one where Jones tried to hit him on a slant route, and he just didn't run the route. And it made it look like Jones threw it right to the defender, but it really was just Dadey Mitchell just not running his route. Those things
Starting point is 00:19:34 just need to be cleaned up. I know he's a young player. I know he's a young player. The route running is awesome. I think overall, as a pass catch, you look better in this past game. But this is the separation. This is why Alec Pierce is going to outsnap him by 500, 600 snaps this year. Because Alec Pierce is so good at these little things, at blocking, at getting the right release on RPO's, at getting to the right landmark in RPO's, those are so essential to playing wide receivers. So A.D. Mitchell, we're seeing good steps. We're seeing really good steps.
Starting point is 00:20:02 Just clean up this stuff. You know, every play matters, not just passing plays. Let's get the running plays and the RPO's also matter as well, and we'll be good. So I think he's on the right track, but I just want to see a little bit more of this dominance carry forward to the games and also just the little things. He just needs to get those little things correct so he can be a starter in this league. Now, this next one, this comes from a guy who was on your standouts, you know, on your film rewatch. And I like seeing some live action accountability taken at times.
Starting point is 00:20:33 So Dalton Tucker was out there at right guard with the second team. And I think Quentin shouted something at him on one play. And then, because I mean, Quentin is always like live coaching guys all the time. and then the next play Dalton Tucker fall started and then they just yonked them right out of the lineup and threw Matt Gonzalez and they were like no you're you're done you're gonna go sit for a minute so I like I just like seeing stuff like that it's a tiny it's a tiny little note but I like you say you want these guys to like show accountability and stuff like that and I mean that's something small but like they they did it you like exposing one of my favorite players for a bad mistake in practice Jake that's what you like you see i do you sick anything else stand out to you about the offense today jake i mean probably nothing else from the quarterbacks but like anything from other skill position players yeah so i mean you know lequan treadwell had a nice day a couple a couple tuds in there he remains like dominant against you know the third team but the guy delivering him the ball riley winner did have a big performance
Starting point is 00:21:38 so give flowers let's give flowers where they're due it seemed quiet but we're in the media room and I was like, did Leonard throw four touchdowns today? And he did. Between 11 on 11s and seven on sevens, he had two to Laquan Treadwell, one to Jalani Woods, big ups to Jalani. If we're going day by day, Jolani versus Will Mallory, he won the day. Just as you could probably say, he won Thursday. And then Coleman Owen as well, like the only literal backup punt returner they've got right now that they at least give reps to yeah i kind of like colman o one i kind of liked what he did on thursday like he's got let's let's just throw it all out there he's got the the little white guy slot receiver thing out there like he's the new eithen fernia he fits he fits that stereotype and he
Starting point is 00:22:32 like he's made plays throughout camp so i mean the colts got them another one and he's he's enjoyable to watch yeah no i kind of liked him on thursday i liked him a couple of couple punt returns that you know he didn't muff anything which is always the biggest thing with punt returners and then did some nice things out of the slot so good for him glad that raleigh leonarder could bounce back from a really rough Thursday i thought it started pretty well and then the last like quarter and a half for him was just very brutal in that Thursday game the interception was just uh hilarious fun uh in that one there um and then yeah lequan treadwell it's like when your dad comes out to play with the neighborhood kids when you're playing like backyard football and
Starting point is 00:23:09 he's just mossing everybody because he's six five and the tallest of next tallest kid's like five, six. So, yeah, that's Laquan Treadwell playing against these guys. It's me playing against my nieces and nephews on Thanksgiving every day. Right, right. Rewind the clocks, baby. Right, right. But always good to hear from the offense.
Starting point is 00:23:24 At least they were able to find some success in the red zone today. But coming up, guys, we're going to talk about the defense, some lineup shifts with the guys out with injuries and a couple of players that stood out in today's practice. It is time to fuel up and turn it up with five-hour energy transfusion. It brings the best. bold grape, ginger, and lime flavor of your favorite golf drink minus the alcohol into a quick energizing shot. All right, guys, let's talk about defense as we discuss day 11 of Indianapolis Colts Training Camp. Welcome back every dayers. So there's some entries, to put it lightly.
Starting point is 00:25:08 If any of you are willing and able to play cornerback, I think, open. and tryouts are being held the next couple days at camp. But no, so our young king, Justin Wally, on IR, we hardly knew ye. We'd never got to see it in a game, not even a preseason game, which is a significant bummer. So, yeah, Justin Wally was out, Charverius Ward, in and out. Kenny Moore is there. But Jalen Jones, Juju Brandt's still hanging out on the side with hamstring injuries. So we've seen a few different guys get reps with the first.
Starting point is 00:25:42 first team at cornerback. You know, Samuel Womack is the most logical. He started there all last year. Jonathan Edwards, Alex Johnson, who had that really nice interception on the first drive on Thursday. Today was Jonathan Edwards. I'm, Jonathan Edwards has been fine. He's made some plays. He's given up a lot, too. Alex Johnson is not like a six, seven year year vet where you already know what you got, though. Like, I think he was a rookie undrafted. last year right so he's essentially just as young as jonathan edwards is um you know spent time on practice squad uh cardinals maybe last year uh so johnson has has been around a little bit and his mates in plays so between these two guys you're probably going to see at least one of them
Starting point is 00:26:32 make the roster and play some sort of role at least on special teams if i had to guess at this point i who knows when when jones and brents will be back but like let's say Brent is back first because Jones's hamstring was categorized as being a little worse, you're kind of waiting for Brent's to be on the sideline again. You know what I mean? So you're going to have to have carry a million cornerbacks into the season. So real quick, I want to ask you what you've thought of Alex Johnson and Jonathan Edwards so far, because I know you wrote about Alex Johnson earlier, you know, I think you've written a couple times over the last couple days. And then is it time to pull someone in off the street, you know, a proven veteran
Starting point is 00:27:16 to bring in and give a little relief? Yeah. So when you're looking at this cornerback room, I understand the appeal with Jonathan Edwards. He hits the size threshold, the weight threshold, and he really fits the speed threshold, really fast player. So I get just from the height, weight speed aspect, they like him at outside corner. I think the reason why we're not seeing Alex Johnson outside more is they probably view him more as a slot corner, which was evident in the game that we saw where the starting lineup with Chavaris Ward out with Wally and Jones and Brents all out, it was him in the slot, which I didn't even know he was playing slot much this off season because I didn't even see that in the joint practice. I didn't see him playing much
Starting point is 00:27:52 slot. But I'm guessing, especially with Wally being out, where Wally was going to be their backup slot corner on the season, I'm guessing they're now trying to get him more slot snaps just so he can maybe be the backup slot this season. So that might be an avenue for him to make the team, but maybe not get a bunch of snaps early on because Kenny Moore is entrenched in that spot where outside corner is kind of like an open competition right now. So I think we could see Edwards and Johnson both make this team because of we just don't know the severity of the injuries
Starting point is 00:28:21 to Jalen Jones and Jujou Brent's. And even if, say, Jones is out until a halfway point of the year, so you put them on IR and then bring him back, even if Juju Brent is coming back in week one, how long does that last? Is that going to be a one week thing? Is that going to be a three-week thing? like juju brentz right now has the durability of paris campbell so it's hard to really bank on a whole
Starting point is 00:28:41 season there so you just need to keep racking up more bodies in that cornerback room which leads me to your question where it's it time to get a veteran i think it kind of is unless you have good clear diagnosis on jalen jones that he'll be back by like week three like if you think jones is going to be back within the first month of the season sure i can understand not wanting to bring in a veteran and disrupting what you have in that room. But if Jones is going to be out for a while, like say it's like a torn hamstring or something like that, which it might be,
Starting point is 00:29:10 we're not getting any clearer answers on that. If it is something like that, just go get a Kendall Fuller, go get a Razuel Douglas, or just go get another young guy that can turn and run on the outside. Maybe BJ Mays is that guy for them. I like BJ Mays in this draft. So maybe that can be that for them.
Starting point is 00:29:26 But I do think, again, depending on what info they have behind the scenes on Jalen Jones, it probably is time to get a veteran in here. Yeah, and I think you could probably fill Lamonts in there as like an emergency fallback is the backup nickel as well. They've shown over the last couple years that they like him. So he might factor in as well, but I think I'm with you. I think with the definity, you know, the definition of it that Justin Wally is not going
Starting point is 00:29:55 to be back this year, we know that. That's a guy who's probably going to be a starter. And then one of the guys you're relying on to maybe step up is someone who's never been healthy in their two years. So I think you kind of have to get a veteran at this point. A lot of people throw around Stefan Gilmore. I just don't. I mean, I don't know. I think he probably wants to be paid adequately.
Starting point is 00:30:17 I think he wants to be, he probably, like, he's probably going to go only somewhere where he can win a Super Bowl at this point. I don't, I don't think he hated the Colts franchise. I think he probably hated 2022 and everything that it was. That's fair. They're in, I think, organizationally, probably a less toxic place now. But at the same time, what does that benefit him to get out there? Unless there is nothing else out there for him. Yeah, I do think that the scheme transition from the Viking scheme last year to the
Starting point is 00:30:48 cult scheme this year is pretty close just in terms of how they perform on the back end. So he could see that as like, oh, cool, like Louana Rumbo is from a, tree that I like playing in now. But aside from that, I think you make a good point about, I mean, look, this guy requested out because he didn't see the Colts going anywhere in the near future, and he wanted to go to Dallas. And then he picked Minnesota, who wasn't up and up really good team. So, yeah, I think you make a great point there, Jake, where it's like, you'll probably
Starting point is 00:31:14 want to go to a team that has more success upcoming, and he'll wait for, like, a Bill's corner to go down and he'll just sign up the bills or something like that. Full circle for him. Right. Just to wrap up the last things that happen on the field today defensively. So Zyre Franklin was out for the joint practice, obviously did not play in the game either. He got his first action in 11 on 11s today. He got a sack.
Starting point is 00:31:37 He had a hard hit on, I think, DJ Giddens as well. So he's a guy who's out there getting a little more comfortable. They'll start ramping up his involvement a little more. And I don't know, maybe we see him against the Packers on Saturday. I think we'll at least see him in the joint practice. So definitely good for Franklin to be getting back and like getting the meaningful 11 on 11 reps before camp wrapped up yeah no for sure that's really great to see him out there i wouldn't push him against the packers but we'll see what the colts do um i think franklin we
Starting point is 00:32:07 we kind of know what he is at this point to where we don't really need to get him out there but again we'll certainly see with what the colts say um i don't did you mention it jake when we were before we talked to corvette about jo bachi getting those will snaps today i think so uh so the the guys who filled in today joe botchie was the will now he i don't know that he's really filling in like that just might be his job to win now, him or Cam McGrown, because Jalen Carlize has been out with an ankle, but before he went out with the ankle, he was running with the second team.
Starting point is 00:32:37 So I think that's probably still an open competition. We know Isaiah's going to be the Mike, but the Will is either going to be Carlyze, Botchy, or McGrone, probably. With Nick Cross out today, we saw Hunter Woller at Strong Safety, didn't look out of place, as we can all expect. And then obviously I mentioned Jonathan Edwards was there at cornerback opposite of Charbrayas, Warden, Kenney Moore. So some interesting little lineup tweaks today with guys obviously injured.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Yeah, one thing I wanted to mention before we get out of here, though, Bachi at the Will with Franklin at the mic, I think could be a pretty good past coverage duo. Like, I've come around on Joe Bacchie as a past coverage guy. I don't hate it. I'm not really there as a run stuffer yet, especially with Franklin's propensity to, you know, fill the wrong gap sometimes and mistackled. I'm a little concerned with that duo being like the main duo out there on nickel. I know Grover Stewart will cover up a lot of mistakes because he's just the animal on the interior there,
Starting point is 00:33:34 Grover the guard butcher, whatever you want to call him there. But I am a little nervous that linebacker could have been run defense, but it's a passing league. You've got to be good against the past. I think Botchy's interception the other day was freaking awesome. Like I was pumping fist watching film on that one. It was just a great play. And some of his other past coverage reps are really good as well. So I feel good about this, this back ending coverage.
Starting point is 00:33:56 As long as that cornerback two spot can, like Jalen Jones can be back soon, then I feel pretty good about this team in coverage. Run defense a little iffy, but we'll see going forward. But that is all we have for today, guys. We do want to thank you guys for making Lockdown Culture first listen today and every day.
