And my partner, Jake Arthur, is our credentialed boots on the ground for the site.
Today we are recapping, what, the second to last training camp practice, right, Jake?
The last one is Thursday?
Yeah, so day 13, the second to last training camp practice.
We're bringing you all the news, the lowdown, quarterbacks, offense, defense.
You guys know the drill at this point in the offseason.
We're going to talk about it all here and just enjoy the fact that training camp is coming to an end
and we're one step closer to the regular season here.
Before we get into the quarterback battle today, some notable injuries because half this roster is injured at this point.
DJ Montgomery, Alec Pierce, Nick Cross, Kenny Moore the second,
Khalil Herbert, I will say Justin Herbert, Cleo Herbert,
Ju-Ju Brents, Jalen Jones, Seth McCune, Sean McCune, I'm changing his name here.
Quitty Pay, Jalen Carlis, Danny Pinter, and is it Desmond Little?
I believe it is his name, Desmond.
I know Desmond Little, but I can't get Cleo Herbert,
but those are all the players that miss practiced today with injuries.
Some of those are more major than others, but we don't really know
because the Colts don't tell us exactly how long these guys are going to be out.
We did get good news on the Alec Pierce injury from Jeremy Fowler earlier today.
They said that Alec Pierce is day-to-day with a groin injury.
Kenny Moore, it appears that he avoided a serious injury with his knee,
according to Stephen Holder of ESPN.
So hopefully these guys are not out into the regular season at all.
They have to miss this upcoming game against the Packers, so be it.
But as long as they're good to go come regular season.
season will be good.
But Jake, let's get into this quarterback battle because it has been a roller coaster ride
this offseason with claims of this show being pro Daniel Jones, the show being pro
Anthony Richardson, this show being anti both guys.
Like, you know, we, since we have been doing these daily episodes covering the quarterback
battle on a daily basis on what's going on in camp, you know, what we are saying can waver
from day to day.
But today it sounds like it was a positive day.
so we can be a little bit of optimism when it comes to this quarterback battle,
at least for one day on this show.
Yeah, everybody wins this one except for, you know,
the Riley Leonard stands will come out of the woodwork.
Although I'll go ahead and throw you guys your bone immediately.
He threw a touchdown to Jolani Woods today.
Boom, let's talk about the two competitors.
Get that out of here.
He had a touchdown today.
No, so I love these kind of days because for the second time,
it was basically all scrimaging.
It was a longer practice, just under two hours.
and it was pretty much chock full of 11-on-11s, you know, like legitimate ball movement,
not just like situational stuff.
So you got a lot out of that.
You also get like the most pass attempts in these ones, even beyond preseason games.
Like these days are really, I think, fruitful to watch.
So Daniel Jones, 21 or 28 today, 75% I believe.
I don't do math well.
It could have been 73 and I miss type.
We're not going to worry about it.
plus over 70%.
Anthony Richardson 18 and 23,
which is 78.3%.
So a real efficient day from both guys.
And it wasn't a dinkdunk fest either.
These guys do it, you know,
all over the field.
Now, you know,
the issues for both of them kind of cropped up
where occasionally they're late on one
or they throw behind somebody
and it's just an ugly pass
or they just make a bad read.
But overall, it was a really productive day.
Something I really like that the Colts do is when they end practice with like a late game or two-minute drill and give each guy an opportunity to do it.
Both guys led their offenses down for touchdowns in that one.
So it was really good to see.
Both guys pushing the ball down the field, you know, we know Anthony can do that even though his deep ball hasn't always been clicking the summer.
But Jones, you know, he'll push back on it, but the guy doesn't push the ball down the field a whole lot.
lot. But they both did it successfully today. There was several big plays to be had in the
intermediate and deep game. You know, Pierce, or not Pierce, he was out today, but, you know,
Mitchell getting involved, Gould getting involved in those ones. So really, really positive takeaway.
One problem, though, this keeps cropping up. That right side of the line, that's a, that's a leaky,
it's a leaky pipe there. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it doesn't shock me because you have McEnsovus,
So we'll talk about more in the second segment.
This is on the quarterbacks here.
But McInsolves is going to go through the rookie lumps this year.
And then Brayden Smith, there has been some regression in recent seasons.
So that will be one to watch.
I think they're going to be a really good run blocking tandem.
But past blocking certainly might need to get some more held,
maybe some six-man protections more so to that side of the field.
But getting back to these quarterbacks, Jake, you know,
I like that you mentioned that this wasn't all just a dink and dunk day for these players.
Because I do think when we look at training camp completion percentage,
you can be a little bit misconstrued in a way in terms of like people just look at those
raw numbers and say this quarterback completed more passes in camp therefore he's the better
quarterback when you have to contextualize these things a little bit so just to kind of further
expand upon your point you saw these quarterbacks really attacking down the field today or
was it still kind of mostly dink and dunk with a handful of downfield throws I would say
there was a generous amount of, you know, at least trying to get the ball to the sticks.
There were, I think there were probably more run-and-catch big plays today than normal.
Gould especially, I think Josh Downs and Pitt each had one, Ashton, so some of these bigger gains resulted in, you know, the past catcher extending it an extra 15, 20 yards, but they still were trying to get the ball at least to the sticks.
There was a fair, I mean, we'll get to these specific numbers later.
There was a fair amount of, you know, checking down to running backs and such.
But when you look at the guys who had the most catches combined between playing with both
quarterbacks throughout the day and 11 on 11s, it's pretty much mostly wide receivers.
You got one running back in there and one tight end as well.
But for the vast majority of it, it was wide receivers getting the ball and pushing it downfield.
you know, A.D. Mitchell had a big, you know, about 40 plus yard catch today. Of course he did.
Gould had a big one that was, you know, beyond 20, 30 yards.
Tyler Warren had one in that two-minute drill that was about 25 yards. I thought he got robbed of the touchdown.
Because in a real game, he's putting his shoulder down and he's getting in the end zone.
But they called him down to two. I digress. But yeah, there was plenty of downfield shots to be had.
And, I mean, again, they put a healthy amount of,
of short stuff in there, but I think both quarterbacks were deliberately trying to move the
ball a bit because that was the name of the game today. It was like live scrimmaging,
actually moving the offense and they weren't working on like specific things. Like, you know,
each day is often themed out and they have to work on certain things. They're just trying to
move the ball today and they actually were doing it pretty well. That's good to hear because for me,
when it comes down to like these completion percentages in camp, I'm not saying there's no value in
swinging it out to the running back or hitting a receiver in the flats, but those are kind of
feels like, feel like cheap completions in training camp because it's not live action.
You can kind of just get that ball down and call it a day.
So I want to see more pushing the middle of the field, pushing down the field a little bit.
So that's good to hear that these guys were able to complete a lot of passes while pushing
the ball down the field, even against a weekend secondary right now with so many guys out.
It's still good to hear those guys pushing the ball down the field.
just in the full transparency here though Jake I did hear of a couple low lights for these
quarterbacks today so we'll all bring up two of them and you can tell me what you saw in these two
plays so starting with Daniel Jones I know that he had the deep completion to ad Mitchell but
I heard on that deep completion it was very underthrown what did you see on that one yeah 80 had to
wait for like an entire cup of coffee for the ball to get there essentially so the defender
was right there it was it was almost like catching a punt i'm not going to lie to you uh but he made
an impressive play like he had to adjust so much to it like coming back to it that like he he almost
had to like squat down to get it and he like got his hands on it and he like bobbled it and then
brought it in again as he was falling down uh so yeah that wasn't great and then he had just
a blatantly bad one i think it was to it was to jolani i'm pretty sure where jolani was just like
kind of out in the flat and i don't know if he was just too late getting it
to him or whatever but he threw it right to him but he like he spun jolani around it was kind of
like the gardener thing where it's supposed to be on the outside shoulder but you know and jeline
was expecting it there but he threw him inside and jelani had to do a whole spin move in completion
real ugly throw and then anthony i think i described it on w t hr earlier as like he just
do a beach ball to charberra sport earlier yeah that's what i was going to bring up was the
interception i heard it was like they were showing like an eight-man blitz and they bailed out of it
yeah so on third downs in general i think lou did a really good job making things difficult for anthony
in particular like the the low lights for anthony today primarily were coming on third downs and i was
noticing lou getting pretty exotic with some of those things um there were there were instances
like false starts have been plaguing this team all summer but like there was like a third and
20 at one point and then they basically put out the prevent defense out there lew did
And, you know, there were times where there was like maybe one or two down linemen and they had guys standing up and like, I think he just confused Anthony a little bit today.
So the middle portion of practice was a little rocky for Anthony, but early on and late, he really, he really kind of thrived.
Good. That's good to hear.
That's good to hear.
Now coming up, guys, we're going to transition to the rest of the offense, talk about all these past catchers that we're able to haul in.
What do we got here?
39 receptions today.
We're going to talk about a handful of those
and which guys really stood out on the day in practice.

Zach and the everydayers we're talking day 13 of Indianapolis Colts training camp
the second to last one of the summer and the last one before the Colts welcomed the Packers
to Grand Park on Thursday so we just got done talking about the quarterbacks in this
heavy passing day they had to have guys to pass it to so there were some
a few guys here who had a heavy workload.
Ashton Doolin caught eight balls today.
And the highlight of his day, he caught, I think his was from Daniel Jones,
I think there at the end, from about 25 yards out.
It was during that late game drive there at the end of practice.
Jones kind of threw a rope to him over the middle of the field into the end zone.
And Doolin had to high point it and get it.
And he did, I think over one or nine.
two defenders. So really good play by Doolin, who's kind of like a practice star. Like
Doolin, practice is made for doing. He doesn't always get that much playing time during
the season, but the guy usually balls out makes big plays in practice. Anthony Gould continues
to be a prolific pass catcher. I think I had him with like two or three big plays. I think he
got a post play. Really, that was like 25 yards. I had some good catch and run today. So
So he's built on a pretty good summer, despite the rough showing that he had against the Ravens.
Pit business as usual, five catches between the two guys.
A.D. Mitchell had three.
So he had that big 40-yarder, I mentioned.
I think he had like a corner route from Jones.
That was about 20 yards as well.
Jones and Mitchell are like getting really, really connected.
Not so much from the game that we could see.
But in practice, Jones looks his way all the time.
Goodson, a few catches out of the back field. Tyler Warren, a few catches. He did, I think all of his
came with Anthony Richardson, and a couple of them, at least a few targets, were on that final drive.
I mentioned that one that was about 25 or so yards down to the two-yard line. Big day for Tyler
Warren. And yeah, there was a handful of other guys that had like a couple catches. But these guys
really carried the load today as far as the receiving game goes. I mean, you have to have reliable
pass catchers in order for these quarterbacks to be successful and those guys pretty much
stepped up today. So when it came to the quarterback rotation today, I know Daniel Jones got,
I believe, the beginning of practice with the starters. Did they rotate the quarterbacks between
the starters or was it Jones with the ones and Richardson with the twos? No, I think they continue
to give them each reps with the ones and twos. And sometimes it's kind of mixed personnel because
more than I can ever recall this year, they're giving like other guys opportunities to be with
With the ones, like even the O line, like you'll see Quentin Nelson and Matt Gonzalez
occasionally come off and give like Dalton Tucker.
And I think I've even seen Josh Sills out there occasionally.
They're trying to get a ton of guys as many opportunities as possible with the ones just for
the instance that they have to pop in there at some point during the regular season.
But yeah, it's largely they continue to rotate with the ones.
Cool, cool.
Because my question after that was going to be like, how did the receiver rotation work today
with like pierce out was ad mitchell like exclusively with the ones did they rotate dueling in there
gould in there was it kind of just a heavy rotation across the board yeah it's ad is never just
with one team like from drive to drive he's going to be with the ones and two is like i haven't really
nailed down what his his specific workload is and i don't it may change from day to day honestly
um i feel like he works most often with daniel jones regardless of where he goes
but yeah, AD especially with like Alec Pierce out,
he definitely bounces back and forth between the ones and twos.
Doolin is usually the guy that gets the most increased workload.
And then occasionally Downs kind of seeds some snaps to Anthony Gould as well.
Cool. Awesome.
And then I want to kind of test your memory here, Jake.
So listeners, I know, listeners beware.
Jake might have to stutter a little bit here and really think on it.
But on those two minute drills, you mentioned a couple of the past catchers.
But just kind of who were the guys who stood out in those two-minute drill situations as past catchers?
I know you said Warren.
I know you mentioned Ashton Doolin with Jones.
Was there anybody else that really made a big play or came away with a touchdown catch, for instance, in those final two-minute drills?
So I think Gould had a couple big plays for Jones in that.
And then, you know, after Anthony Richardson got his touchdown, they both sides went for two-point conversions.
Richardson got his pass out in the end zone to Downs.
Downs had to lay out for it, but he came down with it.
So Downs, oddly enough, probably the smallest catch radius in terms of wingspan and everything.
But I don't know if anyone in the NFL can leap for a catch as well as Josh Downs can.
Oh, yeah.
That dude's crazy.
Just a little guy, but like his catch radius is crazy because of how much he's willing to leap.
But again, no, Warren.
Good, although Hunter Whaler kind of spoiled the party on that.
We'll get to that in the next segment.
Will Mallory, I don't know if he had one in 11s.
Maybe he had one, but Will Mallory had a really big day today as well.
I feel like he got one of his better corner routes today during 11s,
and it might have been in that late session.
But Will Mallory keeps bawling out, man.
We keep saying it's maybe a battle between Mallory and Jolani Woods.
Every time Jolani Woods makes a big play,
Will Mallory has just as many that day,
but Will Mallory does it with the more.
valuable quarterbacks.
So with that battle, I think Mallory probably has a pretty firm grasp on that.
Yeah, I completely agree.
I think Will Mallory is really pulling away in that battle, and we'll see what ultimately
happens with Jalani Woods going forward.
Before we transition to the defense, though, you do have some mentions when it comes to
the running game.
I want to preface this, especially because you talked about the offensive line at
beginning of the day with the past catchers and with the quarterbacks, I really think
this offensive line is going to thrive in the run game this year because I think
McSawvis, Braden Smith, though, once.
side is just fantastic in the run game. Quentin Nelson and Ryman on the other and then
Bordellini with his athleticism on the interior. I think this can be a fantastic run blocking
offensive line alongside Jonathan Taylor back there. So how do these guys look today? I know
Khalil Herbert was out, but Giddens, Goodson, JT, and Ulysses Bentley. I saw you talking high about
him today too. Yes, well, let's talk about Bentley real quick. That'll be the shortest part of it.
like this guy has just some sort of outside agility that is like it can be devastating to
defenses like i've seen him a couple times now get runs on the outside where he hits i don't know
where you want to call it like this just that hard jump cut to the outside like setting up a guy
for a hard juke and it has worked so well both times like both times you hear the offensive
sidelines just screaming because like when when someone gets like absolutely
owned on the field like it's going to rile up like the pro side of it you know oh yeah and bentley
has received such fanfare a couple times now on these cuts and they resulted on like big 20 30 yard
runs for him so um everything in between these plays you know it's whatever but you know
bentley can catch the ball a little bit and then if you get him on the outside he can definitely
make a guy miss uh but overall i thought this was a good day for the running backs maybe not so much
and short yarded stuff.
There were several run stuff.
But like Jonathan Taylor today, I had what I felt from what I've seen from
Jonathan Taylor probably would have legitimately been like an 80 yard touchdown today.
So there, you know, the traffic was kind of piled up a little bit, but there was,
you could see a lane, but it was just such clustered outside that lane.
And he just like kind of bounced through the lane and there was no one there around
him to get him.
And then here he goes, just flying down the sideline.
And the closest person to him is Cam Bynum, like 25 yards away.
It looked a lot like that Patriots end of game touchdown from 2021.
It gave me very much vibes from that.
Tyler Goodson had a good, a good touchdown run from about 10 yards out,
took a shotgun snap and bounced it out the right side.
I thought that would have been a legitimate one.
I don't always highlight a lot of run plays unless I feel like they would have legitimately been productive in an actual game.
So Goodson had one, but that wasn't even the best part of it for me.
I thought Goodson really stood out in Pass Pro today.
He had a couple blitz pickups that really helped the quarterback get the ball into a big play.
There was one where Rodney Thomas came on a safety blitz, and Goodson, you know,
affected him just enough to allow Anthony to slide up in the pocket, and he hit a big play
to Will Mallory on that one.
I think it was like a 30-yard play at least hit Mallory.
right along the right sideline and he was able to turn it up a little bit and get
extra yardage. That wouldn't have happened if Goodson wouldn't have stepped up and stopped
Thomas. And he did that a couple times today. So Goodson is like quietly having a really
effective camp and he's our like he's unofficially RB2 on the depth chart. We'll see, you know,
with DJ Giddens, how that actually shakes out. But if he proves to be their best running back
in past pro this year like that is going to earn him a ton of playing time. Yeah, no for sure.
I think Tyler Goodson has solidified his spot in camp in more ways than one here.
So I think he's certainly going to make this team coming up, though, guys,
we're going to talk about the defense and also dive into a special teams battle
that might be all but decided heading into the last week of training camp here.
All right, we've all been there, logging on early and waiting forever for concert tickets to go on sale,

All right, welcome back, y'all.
We're talking day 13 of Indianapolis Colts training camp.
Talked about a big day for the quarterbacks.
Talked about the guys they got the ball to.
Now let's talk about the defense because, Zach, as odd as this is,
the quarterbacks, you know, either or sometimes both have had some really good days.
I don't know that there's been a lot of bad days overall for the defense.
Like even when the offense has a good day, like I, there's maybe been one day where I was like,
the defense got killed.
But there's always some positives to take away from it.
Like, I think it's just very encouraging that there's never been any, like,
embarrassing performances by the defense, which they should be prone to from time to time.
But, yeah, one of the first things I noticed, their high-price free agents continue to look
apart.
Charverry's word finally got his first interception in camp today.
And I think the only reason he doesn't usually get more of him is because he hardly
gets thrown at.
But Anthony just, I don't know if it was a miscommunication with where he thought
Pittman was supposed to be or what the issue was.
But it looked like Pittman ran a comeback.
And then Anthony just, whoop, do it right to Ward, probably the easiest pick
Ward's ever had in training camp.
But Bynum, like something Bynum does almost every day is he flies in from his free safety
spot and makes like a diving pass breakup on a comeback route about 10 yards downfield.
and it's like this guy is always watching the ball and his range is like endless it seems
and so it just feels like you're going to see a lot of that like i think a lot of us expect to
see these like downfield interceptions or like picking off errant balls but it's like the guy is
like aggressively going towards anything in front of him that he can get to uh so i'm luckily again
knock on all the wood around me but luckily these two have remained healthy while everything else in
the secondary is kind of falling apart yeah no and i'm excited to see them if like to see how much
they play obviously going into this upcoming preseason game they said the star is going to play for a
whole quarter we'll see how long that actually ends up being for guys like bind them and ward
but i'm excited just to see them out there in a colts uniform you know for the first time
before the regular season kicks off so just seeing those guys out there um seeing this front seven
you have a couple notes about the front seven as well but from everything i've heard this
whole offseason jake this front sevens looked really good for
for the Colts. I mean, linebackers, again, up and down at linebacker, but the defensive
line has looked really solid, especially Laotou-Latu to Force Buckner. I think that those guys
are going to make or break this Colts defense this year, because with the secondary already
so banged up, and I mean, pressure is important regardless, but when you were already down
three corners, it's even more important to get that quick pressure. So Laotu-Latu to DeForce Buckner
is a lot on those guys to produce this year. And according to your notes that I've been
reading all offseason, they have both been fantastic in training camp.
Yeah, I was writing up my notes after practice today, and I was like, I legitimately think
LATU has more practices this summer with multiple sacks than he has practices without a sack
at all.
Like, he has been so productive all summer.
And, you know, when the Colts drafted him, I think they envisioned this DeForest Buckner
Lai, Altu, Latu, Tandum of inside, outside pressure.
And, God, you see it a lot.
And again, I think that probably is, you know, one of the impressions of the right side of the line being kind of weak is they do have to go against these two guys pretty much every single play.
But it's going really well.
Like they converge together on a sack today against Daniel Jones.
And it's like these two healthy, because it felt like we never quite got to see them together healthy at the same time last year.
Latu wasn't playing a ton because, you know, it was quiddy starting.
It was they just had other guys out there, Dio, Taekwant.
but like now they start together lined up side by side so i think we're going to see some
really really good things out of that um i love the fact that it seems like latu is all but
locked into a starting spot he's been that first team you know weak side edge the entire summer so
i definitely like to see that um but those are kind of guys you almost hope and expect to see good
things from i'm going to take this with a big grain of salt but you know the
The secondary is totally depleted right now.
So you're seeing a bunch of, not to be rude, but no-name guys showing up and having to play significant snaps.
And a lot of these guys are making plays.
You know, you shouted out like Duke Shelley for his performance in the preseason game.
He had two pass breakups today against Jones and Richardson.
So against the first and second team quarterbacks, Daniel Scott had a nice pass breakup today like near the defense's goal line.
I think it was against Jones was about to throw a ball
and Scott just jumped right up in front of him
and knocked it down, which probably would have saved a touchdown.
Alex Johnson had a good pass breakup today.
I think he caught in front of maybe Mitchell, I think, A.D. Mitchell today.
So these guys are making plays against the top quarterbacks
and the top receivers, which is really encouraging to see
because a lot of these guys are probably going to have to play at some point.
Yeah, I think where I'm at with the Colts cornerback room,
with all the injuries they currently are dealing with.
I think I want to keep one of Duke Shelley, Alex Johnson, and Chris Lamonts on the roster
and the other two on the practice squad, just to have them around, have them in the building,
had them ready to go just in case another injury were to pop up.
But I liked what I saw from Duke Shelley in that first preseason game.
Chris Lamonds, I've always thought he's a pretty solid player, like certainly a bobbed
of the roster caliber guy, but a guy can get out there and play some snaps.
And Alex Johnson's had a fantastic camp.
I've really liked everything I've seen from him.
that preseason game was just fantastic from him.
So it's good to see these guys stepping up and hopefully earning maybe not a spot on the team,
but practice squad.
Practice squad is so vital and those guys get call-ups all the time.
But before we get out of the defense and into special teams, Jake, we have to talk about Hunter Woller.
Are we allowed to go a day without talking Hunter Woller?
I mean, we haven't talked Joe Batchie either.
So Bachi and Woller are the two we have to talk about.
So maybe not Bachi, so you have to supplant it with just all Hunter Woller talk today.
Yeah, so both Hunter Wooler and Trey Washington had nice run stuff today from the safety position, which I thought was good.
And I definitely wanted to throw the Washington one in there because anytime he's going to make a play unrelated to the Savon Ahmed thing, I want to throw that in there because I don't want him to solely be known for that.
So he had a nice run stuff today that he was pretty spirited about after he made it.
But yeah, this was in that like late game end of practice stuff.
they start out with a run and he stuffed it like right away.
I think it was DJ Giddens with the ball.
And then later in that, Anthony targeted Tyler Warren about 25 yards down the right
sideline and Wooler was running with him stride for stride and leaped up and
knocked the ball away at the catch point.
So again, Wooler is a guy that's doing this against the best competition you could face
and against that and that goes for quarterback and past catchers.
I feel like I've seen him knock the ball away from Warren a couple times throughout the entire offseason.
He's just one of those guys.
He rises to the moment and is not scared of what's in front of him.
I mean, you saw him in Baltimore.
He intercepted Lamar Jackson.
I think that one was from the linebacker spot.
And then on the next drive, intercepted the Ravens again from the safety position.
The guy just makes plays every day.
And it's somewhat surprising from him being a seventh rounder,
but I'm almost surprised that he made it to the seventh round.
Because as soon as the Colts drafted him, I was like, all right, well, he's making the team.
They have a very specific vision for him.
But, I mean, he, I guess, has surpassed expectations considering he's a seventh round pick.
But the guy's, the guy's been a baller.
Like, he's beyond a lock for the roster, I would think.
I think he will be competing for, he's going to be a guy where they're like,
we have got to find more ways to get him on the field.
Yeah, I think there are some limitations in his game and some stiffness.
and we'll see like i think it translated really well in that last thursday game but i want to see
just more tackling from him to see how it translates to the regular season like is he a mistackle
guy who delivers some big hits or can he be a consistent tackling guy but like you said jay he's just
a ball ball hawk he's a guy who gets after it uh brings that intensity you're looking for and
sometimes that's good enough to be an NFL player and to be a quality NFL player so hunter
Waller, uh, hats off to him. I was certainly a guy that I didn't talk very high about after the
draft. I liked a lot of other other picks more, but Hunter Woller had a great, has had a great camp and I really
enjoyed watching his development this off season. Uh, but before we get out of here, Jake, we have to
talk about this kicker battle. And I know I usually tap out of this, but I guess I will tap into this one
because Brian Mason gave a long spiel. And when I say long spiel, very long spiel, to the Colts
media guys, where he, do you talk about everything from, uh, the, the, this,
disaster of the Ravens games, talking about guys averages in practice and statistics and practice,
like just a beautiful mind version of everything that's going on in practice.
But at the very end, he did mention that Spencer Schrader has a leg up on Maddox Trujillo,
and that Schrader will get every kick against the Packers in the next preseason game.
So he said that it's a leg up on Trujillo, but us reading between the lines, Jake, I think,
unless Schrader misses like five kicks on Saturday.
I think Schraders got this job locked up to be the cold starting kicker this season.
Yeah, when I take his comments in totality, I don't want to put words in his mouth,
but like you said, us reading between the lines and deciphering this,
Schrader's got the job because he, you know, he told us recently,
I think last time we spoke to him last week, he's like,
when there's a guy who's starting to separate himself,
you're going to start seeing him with more opportunities.
Well, Schrader today got four field opportunities and Trujillo got two.
And then there's almost like a 10% difference in field bowl percentage between them throughout training camp right now that Mason told us when he rattled off like these stats off the top of his head.
But, you know, he did say Schrader has a leg up.
He's going to get all the work against the Packers.
I then followed up and I was like, well, his Maddox can get all the kicks against the Bengals.
And he didn't make it sound like he was going to get all of them.
But he was going to get an opportunity to kick in that game likely.
but what he also said was he's going to get an opportunity to put some good tape out there
which means for other teams yeah so he the Colts already have tape on him so that's not taped
for the Colts to see um so yeah I he all but said Schrader's the guy but like you said I think
there's that little bit of wiggle room where unless Schrader totally implodes you know that's
the only real opportunity I think for Trujillo to get the job still um but yeah I my flabbers
would be gasted if Schrader wasn't the kicker come week one.
Yep, yep.
And with Spencer Schrader likely being the Colts kicker,
let's just hope he doesn't implode.
That's all I can ever say about any kicker.
This could be Adam Venetary all the way down to Rodrigo Blankenship.
Just don't implode and we'll be happy when it comes to kicking.
That's all we have for today, guys.
