This is Jake Arthur of HorseshoeHuddle.com, your resident credentialed media member for the site. And today is Zach's birthday. Giving him the day off. It's just me today. So instead of us doing our little back and forth dueling mock drafts, I'm just going to kind of take a mock draft roundup that I did for horseshoe huddle over the weekend and really dive into it and let you guys know what the experts are saying about what the culture do at 14. Drove into several of them that are multi-round mocks around one, two, three, four.
Starting point is 00:01:21 No seven rounders yet, but once that's stretched into day three, we'll look at those last. But first we're going to look at the defensive side of the ball and now the offensive side of the ball with some of these first round picks. Went over 10 mock drafts deep to get kind of a good gauge of what people are saying. And far and away there are two massive favorites. Everyone is either mocking Colston Loveland or Tyler Warren to the Colts, it's a layup there. But a very interesting name has kinda crept up that I've seen for
Starting point is 00:01:53 the first time mocked to the Colts this in the last week. And that is LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell. Now, Campbell is a good example of kind of a blue chip chip player who I think people are getting exhaustion over Campbell has essentially been the number one offensive lineman in this draft Going back to last year like this time last year when you're looking at the 2025 draft Campbell was the number one offensive lineman now So I think people are just getting a little exhaustion kind of picking too many holes So I think people are just getting a little exhaustion, kind of picking too many holes in a guy's game.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Plus, you know, you got like Armand Membo, who is a very intriguing prospect, super athletic, has great size. For a lot of people, he's becoming the top offensive lineman in this draft. A lot of people like Josh Simmons from Ohio State as well, the offensive tackle. But for my money, Will Campbell is still the top offensive lineman in the draft. In most mocks, I think you still see him in the top 10, but I have started to see him creep around the 12 mark. And now in this latest mock draft, it was Kyle Stackle from CBS Sports to
Starting point is 00:03:00 the Colts there at 14. If I'm the Colts, I say hell yeah to this. He is, I think he's perfect for them. Really good technician, has great fundamentals, has really good size and athleticism. The knock on him is he doesn't have the real long, you know, 33 plus inch arms that you want to see from an offensive tackle. A lot of people think he could kick inside to guard and play really well.
Starting point is 00:03:23 The Colts, I don't think they would have one problem whatsoever, making him the right tackle of the future. Now, if they drafted him, I think you park him at right guard for now. You know, you have one more year of Braden Smith. You know, at the end of that, you have Campbell waiting in the wings to be your new right tackle. And then Matt Gonzalez can be the right guard. So, you know, you look at it for 2025, you have a Bernard
Starting point is 00:03:49 Ryman, Quentin Nelson, Tanner, Bordellini at center. You would have Will Campbell at right guard and then Braden Smith at right tackle. So I really liked that one a lot. That is a guy who was without a doubt a top 10 player in this draft. In this instance, being available there at 14 just simply because there's no consensus on whether he's gonna be a tackle or a guard and teams don't like that arm length.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Like that's all we're looking at here. I know it seems stupid and it's pretty much because it is. But this is a bonafide star, offensive lineman. And I think Chris Ballard would be over the moon if he was there at 14. It's one of those guys where we've talked about the top 10 players ad nauseam everyone has throughout this draft cycle.
Starting point is 00:04:38 And Campbell is someone who's never really been in consideration for the Colts because he shouldn't be there after the top 10 picks. Uh, so kind of like Lahti Lahti last year, we did very little homework on him. You know, we watched him and put him in our rankings and such, but never really considered him for the Colts. That's cause he was never really supposed to get past the top 10 or like number eight to Atlanta. But you know, Atlanta was the,
Starting point is 00:05:03 the most obvious landing spot for him. They took a quarterback and then so boom, Latu was there for the Colts at 15. So maybe you see an instance like that with the Colts. There are a couple teams who need offensive tackles, offensive limonuc like Chicago and the Jets, but maybe they get like a Tyler Warren instead or another position, obviously Ashton Gentry
Starting point is 00:05:25 with the Raiders and Campbell becomes available to the Colts of 14. Again, I say absolutely do it if he is there for you. And then again, like I mentioned, the vast majority of drafts, the mock drafts that you're looking at right now still have Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland. I do think Warren is becoming more of a possibility now the first couple waves of free agency have passed.
Starting point is 00:05:52 A couple teams that needed tight ends either fulfilled that need or you know, you look at the team like the Broncos that were behind the Colts went and they resolved their need. They got Evan Ingram, that's now a team that won't necessarily jump ahead of the Colts to get a guy like Tyler Warren. So if the Colts really, really want Tyler Warren, then I think they should be willing
Starting point is 00:06:13 to trade up a little bit to give him. You gotta get up like a third round pick, who cares? A third round pick and like a future fifth or something. If it's to get a guy who you absolutely love, and it burnt you last year to lose out on Brock Bowers because you tried to trade up and couldn't and then you got sniper in front of you, then I think you go ahead and do it. So I had five mock drafts that my mocked Tyler Warren to the Colts. Daniel Jeremiah from NFL.com Deontay Lee of the Ringer, Mike Band of NFL.com, Chris Chirpaso CBS Sports, and Ryan Wilson also of CBS Sports. So Daniel Jeremiah is a very, very accurate mock drafter. He is very plugged in around the league, and he doesn't like to brand himself as an insider,
Starting point is 00:06:59 but he talks to people around the league, and he formulates his mocks based on what he's actually hearing and what he thinks he's going to say, especially the closer you get to the draft. Uh, cause he, he does say that he'll throw in some things occasionally that, you know, are just interesting scenarios that could happen. Um, but I truly think Tyler Warren is someone who's coveted by the Colts. So whether it's at 14 or whether they go up a little bit ahead of that to get them, I definitely think the Colts want them some Tyler Warren. Like Zach has said, you could just live in, in your personnel with your single title and never have to take them off the field.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I think that would definitely be a big feather in the cap for the Colts. And then obviously Colston Loveland, they I had four people mocking him, Mel Kuyper Jr., his latest one, Connor Rogers from NBC Sports, Chad Ryder from NFL.com and Josh Edwards of CBS Sports. This one is kind of obvious. Obviously, if you lose out on Tyler Warren, then your consolation prize is Colston Loveland. I don't think he's necessarily a consolation prize. I think he's definitely the second Titan after Warren. He's not as good of a prospect as Warren, not by a whole lot.
Starting point is 00:08:17 But I do think there are some teams who might even prefer Loveland over Warren just because I mean, I can prefer Loveland over Warren just because Loveland is so smooth and so fluid running, you know, before and after the catch. There's not a lot not to like there. And Warren isn't such a dominant blocker to where that's this big albatross and difference for them. Now, obviously, Loveland is going to be a bit more of a move tied into Joker tied in a little bit. We'll be able to block for you more than what that sounds like. But he's by no means a guy that you're just going to park on the line of scrimmage
Starting point is 00:08:52 and have a block all day. Whereas with Tyler Warren, there's probably going to be some games where you have to use him as a extra battering ram or some extra security. But yeah, I don't think there's you can't really go too wrong. I would be okay with the Colts getting Loveland at 14 and this is almost always in the instance of Warren being off the board. I'd be okay with the Colts going Loveland at 14. But if you could trade back to like 20 ish, grab an extra third round pick and you still get Colston Loveland, a guy who's like gonna no doubt be your top tight end.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I think that would be an absolutely slammed up move. So coming up, guys, we're going to look at the defensive side of the ball. Kind of slim pickings after what the Colts have done in free agency. Not a lot of people are mocking defense to the Colts, but we'll go over what they are mocking and then what I think some other possibilities probably are. Have you ever checked your bank account and wondered where did all of my money go? Between dining out, online shopping and entertainment, it's easy to lose track, but that's where Monarch Money comes in, your personal CFO giving you full visibility and control over
Starting point is 00:10:00 your finances. Monarch Money isn't just a budgeting app, it's a complete financial command center. You could track all your accounts, investments and spending in one place. So you stop your managing your money and start building wealth. They've got surprising insights. For example, when I started using Monarch, I realized just how much I was spending on food delivery. Now I budget a little smarter and I save more. They've got all in one convenience, which means instead of juggling multiple apps, you can use Monarch to kind of consolidate everything and check your finances, track spending and even plan long term goals. And then there's just easy collaboration, managing your money with your partner is smoother than ever. I know a lot of people stress about
Starting point is 00:10:40 money with their partners, but this makes it really easy. You could track shared and personal accounts, set goals and stay on the same page without the stress. So take control of your finances with Monarch money. Use code locked on NFL at Monarch money.com for 50% off of your first year. That's Monarch money.com code locked on NFL for half off of your first year. And March Madness is here and Fandel is giving you guys the chance to get in on all the action like never before.
Starting point is 00:11:12 You guys no doubt spent the last several days watching tournament action, but right now, new customers can get $200 in bonus bets when your first $5 bet wins. That's 200 extra bucks to use on everything from buzzer beaters, Cinderella stories and even who's cutting down the nets. I like to pick my favorites. I've got an eye on a few underdogs this year.
Starting point is 00:11:31 My bracket is still respectively respectfully in place. I don't go out one this year, so I didn't want to put too many irons in the fire, but with tournament games happening pretty much every day. Now, there's always something exciting to bet on. The Fandle app is simple to use, and when I win, I get paid instantly. There is no waiting around because there's nothing more frustrating than winning money, but not being able to get your hands on it.
Starting point is 00:11:54 So visit Fandle.com and get in on the college hoops action all tournament long. All right, guys, so in the last couple of weeks and free agency, the Colts kind of transformed their secondary. They added Charvarius Ward, a bona fide top cornerback, they added Cambynum, a number one free safety for them. And, you know, people had been mocking some corners and safeties them obviously Malachi Starks, other than Tyler Warren, Malachi Starks was maybe the most popular other option. And now the Colts really don't need a starting level safety all that much.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Like if they drafted Malachi Starks, it wouldn't be the end of the world. But you have some linebacker, you have a little bit of cornerback. But yeah, in the about a dozen mocks that I looked at, Jihad Campbell was an option. One of them was from the Bleacher Report scouting department. And one of them was me. So Fan Nation did a publisher mock recently where a representative from each of the NFL on SI teams gave an option. Tyler Warren was off the board.
Starting point is 00:13:00 So I want Jihad Campbell. I think one reason we're seeing less defensive players mock to the Colts Obviously what they've done in free agency Defensive end isn't the greatest sweet spot for the Colts like there's some players you can mock They're right there at 14, but for the most part, they're either slightly ahead of the Colts or like more in the late first round And then when it comes to jihad Campbell, I think there would be even more people mocking him to the Colts are like more in the late first round. Uh, and then when it comes to Jahad Campbell, I think there would be even more people mocking him to the Colts, but he's got the labrum surgery that he just underwent. Uh,
Starting point is 00:13:31 so he may not even be ready in time for training camp. We'll have to see. Uh, so that may be shuffling himself down boards a little bit. Uh, if I'm the Colts, I still would be absolutely comfortable with them in the first, cause I mean, this is a 10-year move You're looking to make not just I mean you want him to be able to contribute right away But I mean this for the longevity of your defense. It's a really talented player And then Mikel Williams is the other one I found Charles McDonald from Yahoo Sports drafted mocked him there
Starting point is 00:14:00 So that's an interesting one. So Mikel Williams a lot of people had compared him to Trevon Walker, also from Georgia from a few years back, who went to the Jaguars. And Williams, you know, his 2024 season came in really highly heralded. I think it was the first game of the year suffered an ankle injury that caused him issues all year, looked like a shell of himself, but was healthy, was supposed to be healthy when it came around to like his pro day and everything. I don't think he worked out the combine at least not fully, uh, but he ran kind of a slower 40 time. Um, you know, a lot of people thought he was going to be like this big, high weight speed, super freak again, like Walker, uh, who went to the Jaguars,
Starting point is 00:14:43 but that's just not how it turned out. The more I think about it, and the more I look at what his athletic profile really is, he kind of seems to me a little bit more like a Daiwa Dango type. Again, big, violent, explosive, long. He's not got like the elite speed on tape, you can see him in closing in on guys, but he's not going to have like incredible long speed, but I mean, he's an edge rusher. Why would you really need him to be? You want that 10 yard split.
Starting point is 00:15:11 You want that explosion and the jumping scores. Uh, so yeah, he, he's, he could set an edge better than Dio can cause Dio is still more of a pass rusher than he is run defender. But I kind of liked that comp. The more I think about it, Michael Williams being kind of similar to Dio Dango and the Colts did happen to lose one Dio Dango this off season and free agency. So. Do with that what you will. I don't I don't know how I feel about that one.
Starting point is 00:15:38 I don't love that option there at 14. Personally, there's just other guys I like a little bit more. But I mean, you guys tell me, are you Michael Williams fans or not? So that was it, Campbell and Michael Williams. So it got me thinking what other defenders are gonna be options for the Colts. Obviously, they still wanna work on both sides of the ball. They've done good work really on both sides of the ball so far in free agency. Again they obviously got those two big starters they got their competition at quarterback. They did get Khalil Herbert at running back. They still need some help on the offensive and defensive
Starting point is 00:16:14 lines too I think. But overall I think there's a lot of options still out there for them on the defensive side of the ball in the draft. One of my favorite guys that I pretty much never see a mock to the Colts anymore and I've seen him mocked before around the spot they should be at and after all over the first round. Jaylen Walker from Georgia, somewhat similar player to Campbell, just probably not as refined and violent like Campbell. Campbell is an attacker and is very, very sure of himself. Walker is very athletic and gets to the ball as well and can affect. You know, can affect things in a lot of ways.
Starting point is 00:16:54 If you think of Walker as so they're both players who can play offball linebacker and do some stuff on the edge. Campbell is more home at linebacker, and then you could put him at edge on passing downs. If you had to do that with Walker, he'd probably be more of an edge, and then you could put him off ball and do some stuff and pass protection. So there are a little bit of the inverse and what their specialty is,
Starting point is 00:17:21 but there are still similar players, if that makes sense. Still, I like both of them quite a bit. And then one guy who I have seen him mocked to the Colts several times, but Colts fans, I don't think are super on board just because he's not he's not prototypical for the Colts. Jada Baron, the defensive back from Texas. Now, when I think Lou Anna Rummo and I think multiple defenses and guys with versatility,
Starting point is 00:17:47 that's Jode Baron right there. You did go out and you got can buy them at free safety, which is great because that's a guy who can fill multiple spots. Free safety. He could play in the slot. He could play out wide if you need him to.
Starting point is 00:17:59 That's what he used to play back in college a bit. So Jode Baron, that's the same thing. He's an outside corner. He could play the slot. He could play safety. He could play in the box a little bit. He can do really whatever you want.
Starting point is 00:18:13 And he does it at a high level. I think if we were talking about a guy that was six foot, six foot one, 200 pounds, he'd be an easy top dozen pick for everybody. But everyone's in love with his game and his tape, but there's apprehension because he's one of those guys that's about 510 ish and under 200 pounds so he gets kind of the knock there. But I've seen a lot of comps to like Brian Branch from the Lions.
Starting point is 00:18:42 I think that's a really good comp. I see a lot of Kenny Moore in his game as well. Just a super smart, instinctive player with natural playmaking abilities. And they're undersized, but they don't play like it. You know, they're willing to get physical. Again, they don't back down from anything. You do see a lot of smaller guys kind of shy away
Starting point is 00:18:59 from contact, things like that. Baron is not one of those guys. Next up, Will Johnson, the corner from Michigan. He is still going to have like a private workout for teams, like a personal pro day basically coming up. There were some injury concerns. There are some long speed concerns. But he's a big physical shut down corner.
Starting point is 00:19:20 He's got some ball skills as well. He didn't have his best tape in 2024. So I think that's got, I think he's kind of up in the air for some people. He's kind of the cornerback version of Malachi Starks when it comes to, there's undeniable elite tape out there on him, but it's not coming off his best year. And has made more plays earlier in their career than they just most recently did. But it just takes one team.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Johnson could go in the top 10 or he could go in the 20s. No idea, but I do think the Colts would be a good fit for him. And then you're looking at a couple safeties. I don't think Malachi Stark should be totally taken off the board because you got Malachi Stark and Kam B buy them. That's too somewhat similar guys. Very versatile, can wear different hats. They've got good ball skills and playmaking ability. You know, Malachi starts is maybe a little better in the open field when it comes to bringing guys down. But I think they have very similar strengths and weaknesses, but they're versatile. You can move them around. This is a defense with Lou Anna Rumo that wants to have as many
Starting point is 00:20:27 chess pieces as possible. And sure, you're not going to have both of those guys probably play a thousand snaps for you, but whatever roles you can find for them. And there's always injuries in the NFL cornerback, free safety, strong safety, nickel, like whatever, there's always going to be injuries. You can't have too many of those guys on your team. Like I'm I'm I'm big on that. We're running out of time in this segment, but some other guys, obviously,
Starting point is 00:20:51 Nick and then worry kind of same story. What do you want to do with them? Linebacker safety. Shamar Stewart, very little college production, but is a super freak athletically. Kenneth Grant and Walter Nolan on the interior. You need more guys other than just Neville Gallimore and Otatomi Adabuari backing up Buckner and Grover Stewart. And then Donovan Azaraku is a very, very interesting one. Very Chris Ballard type edge defender. And we're not talking about him at 14, but I don't think it's out of the realm. It should be considered a possibility. I would never rule out a draft pick like that when it's out of the realm. It should be considered a possibility
Starting point is 00:21:25 I would never rule out a draft pick like that when it comes to Chris Ballard. So coming up guys, we talked offense We've talked defense. I'm gonna dive into some of these multi-round mocks now, you know, we've got several round two three four picks What are people saying? All right, so I'll give you guys a couple I I'll give you three round two picks, three round three picks actually. Yep, can't count three round three picks and then one round four picks. I want the extra distance and went four rounds. So these mocks are from Chris Tripaso of CBS Sports, Chad Rider of NFL.com, Connor Rogers of NBC Sports, and then Chad Rider is the one that went the extra round with with four so
Starting point is 00:22:08 Offensively in round two. We've got offensive lineman Jonah Savannah from Arizona Probably gonna be an offensive tackle if I had to guess Don't love his game personally. I I Don't love him there at 45 for the Colts. I'll say that I'd be more comfortable with him is more like a third round guy. He's fine. Just doesn't do it for me as opposed to some other guys who are probably going to be on the board. Next up is another one I'm not an enormous fan of, especially at 45.
Starting point is 00:22:37 That's edge defender Jack Sawyer from Ohio State. I just think there's going to be probably better guys on the board and you don't have to take an edge defender there at 45 either. Sawyer is more of an edge setter and run defending, uh, defensive end than he is like a top end pass rusher and the Colts try to get pass rush out of all their defensive ends. Now, obviously duh, yes, but with some edge defenders, their specialty is setting the edge and run defense.
Starting point is 00:23:09 That's kind of Jack Sawyer. That's, this is very Sam Hubbardish of a pick for me. He just didn't really do it as a pass rusher. He's a fine run defender. You have to have those on the roster. It wouldn't be the end of the world if they did that, but I don't love that pick at 45. Donovan Jackson though from Ohio state offensive lineman.
Starting point is 00:23:29 This one's super interesting that I could be picked within the first 20 picks. But you know, there at 45, I think is a possibility as well. He's got some really good tape and you know, most of his career was on the interior. But when Josh Simmons got banged up for Ohio state earlier this year, he had to kick in the left tackle and he looked really good tape and you know most of his career was on the interior. But when Josh Simmons got banged up for Ohio State earlier this year, he had to kick in the left tackle and he looked really good. So that's a guy, Donovan Jackson. Do you want him at guard?
Starting point is 00:23:53 Do you want him at tackle? I have heard most often interior at guard, which obviously the Colts need if you want to plug him in at right guard. That's a great pick to me. I think the Colts are going to get one, maybe two offensive linemen in this draft. And one of them probably gets picked within the first few rounds. Donovan Jackson, especially at 45. I think that would be a steal.
Starting point is 00:24:15 And then we're going to continue with the Georgia and Ohio state theme that you're going to see throughout here. Uh, moving on to the third round, Jared Wilson of Georgia and Tate Ratledge of Georgia. Also a couple round three picks. Wilson, when your starter at center, more athletic than he is tough and physical yet. Um, if you're going zone and you want the guy getting out on the move and getting to the second level, that'd be a great pick. Um, you obviously don't need him to play right away. I think between borderline and and Matt Gonzalez, you've got that covered. I think I'm more on
Starting point is 00:24:52 board with drafting guys who are going to be guards and tackles rather than a center, just because we haven't explored that a lot. But I'm more okay with borderline. You just go going there being the center. You've already got Braden Smith back for a year. So I don't know. You kind of have to tinker with things, but I would rather than go out and get a guard tackle rather than a guy who's mainly a center. And that's Wilson Tate Rattlage, though, guard.
Starting point is 00:25:23 That's a right guard prospect for them. We talked about him a lot on this show Just nasty guy physical kind of a brawler has that wrestling mentality and it clearly shows when he's locking up guys There's been some injury issues there, but third round that's that's kind of worth the gamble I think and then the last guy on the list. This was the lone round for pick Barrett Carter linebacker from Clemson This is a guy who checks a lot of boxes for the Colts. He's you know, he's got that good size You know the six one plus two thirty ish long arms fast mobile guy I've heard some I've heard
Starting point is 00:26:03 conflicting things about personality and character issues that makes me wonder if that's why he's projected to go here, like in the middle of it. I can't say anything definitively. It feels like kind of an A.D. Mitchell thing where there were reports of him being like difficult to be around or difficult to work with, but I don't know how valid that is. Cuz I've seen plenty of positive things about him as well. So I don't know, what's the reason he's there in the middle rounds? You know, your guess is as good as mine cuz I get I don't know how valid
Starting point is 00:26:40 the issues of character concerns are. Again with Eddie Mitchell, there was some stuff there and he admittedly after the season said he had some growing up to do, but it wasn't like a locker room cancer.
