Starting point is 00:00:41 Football season is around the corner. Visit the Fanduel app today and start planning your future bets now. Hello, everyone. My name is Zach Hickshaw, resident film nerd of horseshoe huddle.com. And my partner, Jake Arthur, is our credentialed boots on the ground for the site. We are previewing the Colts and Packers joint practices for the, this week, along with this upcoming preseason game, exactly what we want to see from these quarterbacks, what we want to see from the offense, and what we want to see from the defense,
Starting point is 00:01:08 and really how we want them to come out of this week here. So, Jake, before I kick it to you with the quarterback battle, I just want to put this at the very top of the show. My most important thing is come out healthy. It's the most important thing for this entire week. We've had too many injuries lately with this cult team, especially at the cornerback position. We're starting to see other position groups get hit number one thing getting a good week of practice but don't get hurt that's the number one thing for me honestly they can look terrible as long as they do it healthy that's totally right we'll we'll address the rest of the issues after that but i'm i'm right there with you like i do not think they can afford any more critical losses and kenny more almost
Starting point is 00:01:50 scaring us to death last night did you see that the cryptic tweet from kenny more that's the most Kenny Moore thing. Yeah, and then it was like, oh, my bad. I was talking about life, not big, or whatever. I was like, okay. Yeah, that is what we get with this cold steam. But, Jake, let's talk about this quarterback battle here because we haven't really had a ton of separation from these two quarterbacks all season.
Starting point is 00:02:12 When it looked like Anthony Richardson was going to pull away in the battle, that Thursday came against the Baltimore Ravens happened. It feels like it got it a little bit closer. So where are we really sitting with this quarterback battle? And what do you really want to see from these two guys when you will be live watching these practice this practice this week. Well, let's go ahead and talk about the health game like you mentioned because Anthony did not come out unscathed back against the Ravens.
Starting point is 00:02:35 But now, obviously we want to see him throughout the duration of what is supposed to be his time with the ones and on the field in general on Saturday. But, you know, I want to see a continuation of a lot of the good things we've already seen, you know, the willingness to take the short stuff, doing it accurately while he's maintaining you know, his footwork and his mechanics that he works on all the time, do that stuff, which will be like a sign of, you know, a sign of positivity, I think. But obviously last Thursday really shined a light on the fact that this guy is also still
Starting point is 00:03:09 kind of green and with, you know, pre-snap, breeds, and just all of the minutia that goes into playing quarterback. A lot of people don't really consider all the time because so much of the discourse about Anthony is he's inaccurate or you know he's a super athlete he's got a great arm like the pluses and minuses for him are always a physical thing but the best quarterbacks have every like almost everything it takes you know behind or between the ears to really keep things moving and identify you know familiarity with what you're looking at and the ability to divert the stresses that that is going to cause is such a big part of playing quarterback and you know some of us were talking about
Starting point is 00:03:57 that in the media room the other day is you know not unfortunately but one of the frustrating parts about what is likely to lead to the quarterback decision is stuff none of us are going to know about it's going to be stuff only the coaches can tell because is the quarterback whoever it is are they executing what the plan is supposed to be on each play like are they going to what the reeds are supposed to be are they identifying what they are being asked to identify like and the obvious thing with anthony is like hey there's an unblocked blitzer coming right here are you seeing that kind of stuff um i'm curious you know our guy ben solek from ESPN was at uh practice the other day and him i him and i were talking and he was like has anyone asked you know like how much
Starting point is 00:04:41 freedom like tander borderlini and anthony richardson have to like slide protections and like manipulate things before the snap and because technically both of those spots have been a competition for most of the summer i really don't know that they're being asked to do a lot of that i mean bordolini has they've commented and complimented the grasp of things that he's got mentally now that he didn't have last year so he's probably a little bit you know ahead of the curve there but that is a good question like how much freedom let's just say either daniel or anthony how much freedom do they have to change things at the line if they're recognizing something that's going to be an issue?
Starting point is 00:05:19 Yeah, no, there's so much that goes into playing quarterback, obviously, between the ears and just across the board. And so much of this battle, we're not going to see because it's happening behind the scenes in the meeting rooms in terms of their work ethic and stuff away from the team and with the team. So all that stuff is going to come into play here. But one question I really wanted to posit to you, Jake, and to all of our listeners, is with these guys, like neither guy, it seems, is, like, drastically.
Starting point is 00:05:44 improving upon their biggest weaknesses in terms of like turning into a strength for instance so what we thought about anthony richardson coming to the offseason is this quarterback who you know we've had durability questions and the short stuff and the fundamentals have been issues but he's a big play machine great athlete does a lot of good things where daniel jones is kind of the opposite where a lot of it's he can do a lot of the easy stuff he can get the ball out of his hands but you're not going to get many big plays you're not going to you know have that quarterback that's a difference maker i don't know if either these guys could have really changed that narrative in the preseason or in the off season.
Starting point is 00:06:18 So at some point, are we kind of just, like, I don't want to say this is all for not, you know, like, is all the preseason work here. But like, it seems like the guys that they were coming into camp, they kind of were leaving camp. So it's almost like whatever decision they were leaning before camp is the way they should go. Does that make sense to you, Jake? It does. And to me, that's why the preseason matters so much.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Because, like, you can manipulate positively or negatively, anything you're seeing. in camp at practice against your own team's defense to fit whatever narrative you want. But like when we're all watching them against a different team, there are only so many ways to spend something. You know what I mean? Like you're kind of seeing what is the closest representation of the truth against other teams. And so for me, like, I don't know if they'll play against Cincinnati.
Starting point is 00:07:06 I really hope they do because I think, I think this decision probably needs to go down to the wire and they need to get every in-game rep possible in order to make this decision. But yeah, I think they're obviously like preseason games schematically are not diverse or anything. But if you go back last year against the Bengals and Lou Anirumo and even last week against the Ravens, there's plenty of stuff out there for Anthony to be able to show that he is progressing in, you know, when it's pre-snap and all that stuff. So there are ways for like Anthony to.
Starting point is 00:07:41 show that he's grown again daniel is a second contract that essentially i don't i don't know how much more he can show um other than maybe not like staring down receivers and being more decisive and consistent with his passes more consistently but again that's he's a he's a veteran so i don't think there's a lot to your point that they can show to show that they are like changed guys but there are very small things with jones i think guys with somewhat capped arm strength can be successful throwing the ball down field based on timing. Like Philip Rivers when he was here, obviously his arm strength was not what it once was at all. But he got rid of the ball on downfield shots early, allowing the receiver to run under it.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Like that's the only way T.Y. Hilton and him are really able to work. So if he can kind of show that he has new ways of doing things to maybe make those weaknesses not so bad, then, you know, that's definitely a positive. And I've seen some signs of that from him. Like the arm strength isn't great, but in terms of the frequency of at which he is testing the ball downfield, he's gone to Anthony Gould and Alec Pierce several times, even going back to the spring.
Starting point is 00:08:58 So, like, there are positive things I think they could both do, but, like, it's not going to be sweeping changes. I think it's going to have to be a decision that the coaches make based on a lot of stuff that's going on behind the scenes, I think. Yeah, and I think just for me, as someone watching the games and watching what's going on, when it comes to this upcoming game and how each guy can separate. For Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, they're on different kind of grading points right now. For Richardson, stay healthy, get through your peas and cues, get the ball out of your hands,
Starting point is 00:09:29 and move the ball offense down the field. I don't care if it's 100 yards at a time or if it's two yards at a time. Like, let's just get the ball moving, lead an efficient, high success rate level offense, and show that you can do that. for Daniel Jones, I want to see some creativity. I want to see him going beyond the play call when the situation calls for it. Like, it's fine to hit the mesh play and get the guy on the move because that's what the call was. But when that stuff is bottled up, when you're in a true pass drop back and it's bottled up,
Starting point is 00:09:57 can you create with your legs? Can you create with your arm? I don't know if we've seen that from him. And again, for Richardson, I don't think we've seen him operationally in the short passing game yet this preseason. So in terms of what I want to see, because again, I can't speak for the coach. but what I want to see is improvement in those two areas for those two players on Saturday. Each guy will get their chance. Daniel Jones will start the game.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Richardson will finish out the first half, and we will be able to see if these guys can separate whatsoever in the quarterback battle. But getting away from quarterback talk, we're going to talk about the rest of this offense coming up in just a second, which guys need to stand out in the preseason game, which battles we're looking forward to, and what players this really means a lot for in the second preseason game and the joint practices against the Green Bay Packers.
Starting point is 00:10:40 August 26th is officially Famedual Futures Day. It's a brand new holiday for football fans who live for bold predictions and preseason hunches. Fandul, play your game. Welcome back to Locked on Colts every dayers. We are talking about what we want to see mostly this. week in the joint practice tomorrow against the Green Bay Packers in the preseason game on Saturday, but really just the remainder of the preseason in general. Training camp ends this week, but then the preseason ends next Saturday against the Bengals. So, like, there's still
Starting point is 00:11:54 plenty to be able for these guys to show. And I think the Packers, I like that this is the opponent because we have seen these two sides battle recently. 16 to 10 loss early last year, one of the uglier performances we have seen, you know, defensively and offensively that, you know, they gave up 200 yards rushing in that game. Anthony Richardson had like two or three, like truly just atrocious, awful performances last year, and this was one of them.
Starting point is 00:12:23 So I think there's a lot that these both sides of the ball for the Colts can show that they have changed because there's a lot of similarities for the Packers of last year to now, even down to quarterback. Jordan Love was injured for that matchup. he's injured for this one as well, so it's going to be Malik Willis again. So, like, just in very general terms, I want to see the Colts as a team show up a lot better. But, Zach, what are some, like, specific things from guys you want to see, just whether it's to have retribution from last year or just in general going into week one for the season?
Starting point is 00:12:56 Yeah, I don't know if I can really go too much into the retribution for a week two loss to an NFC team from last season. Not revenge, not revenge per se. I just want to see them not lay the biggest egg possible again, you know? Right, right. I get what you're saying there. I think just have a fighting chance this week, like exchange punches with a good Packers team. I don't know how many Packers starters are going to play too much during this week or even on the weekend. They're dealing with quite a few injuries as well.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Jaden Reed and Jordan Love are two of the bigger ones that they've been dealing with. So we'll see how much we see their starters this week. But in terms of what I'm really looking for on the Colts offense, I think the two guys I really need a circle in high. later, Tannen Bordolini and Mac and Salves. Now, Mac and Salves, I have a little project coming up with that. I'll keep you guys in the know with that one, a little project. But overall, I think his first preseason game showed a lot of good and a lot of bad at the same time. You could see an avenue for success this season, especially as a pass blocker, but it's going to take some time. It's going to be kind of like a 2022 Will Fries type season from him where he's an average to maybe
Starting point is 00:14:03 below average level starter in year one while he finds his rhythm. I want to see him find some, some just aspects that work for him, lean into the things that work for him and use his size, use his power as a pass blocker, and protect that right side for whichever quarterback's in the game. And then Tanner Bordellini, I thought there were some really good moments, but also some really, really bad moments as well. Like, I mean, there was a 350-pound rookie for the Ravens that just absolutely killed him on a rep that got a hit on Daniel Jones.
Starting point is 00:14:32 and that's stuff you want to see him really iron out here in the preseason. So the biggest thing I'm really looking for are those two guys. Can they bounce back from, you know, again, up and down debuts against the Baltimore Ravens? Can they look a little bit better here in week two against the Green Bay Packers front that's just as good as that Ravens front, especially if you're seeing the starters. So they got to be on their A game. And I think both these guys are very capable of getting to that level. I saw the flashes last week. It's just about finding the consistency and finding things that work for both.
Starting point is 00:15:02 both of them. Yeah, absolutely. So those guys specifically or two I really wanted to see because I feel like I've been getting asked a lot about them lately. And again, when it comes the offensive line, there's only so much you can take away from practices. So like the end game reps, I think are real valuable. And then in these joint practices, though, obviously much different from, you know, inter squad or intra squad practices where there's actually game planning and like things you're trying to accomplish involved in this. So I think these guys can show a lot. The interesting thing about like Bordolini, for example, though, Tony Sperano has mentioned that, and this is, again, to your point of like doing what works for you. Borderlini is like flexibility in the way he is able to do things that don't look right or don't look normal, but they're very effective.
Starting point is 00:15:51 That's an example of something that works for him. So all of these guys, you know, what is your superpower, so to speak, in an attempt to become. come, like, a really good regular starter. I don't want Bordolini to lose that kind of, like, unique aspect to his game, if that makes sense. Gonzalves obviously has some things to work on. There's just in general going to take more reps, as it will for both of them. I'm going to, I'm going to switch to a couple more guys who play sexier positions.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Now, let's talk about A.D. Mitchell and Tyler Warren against Green Bay secondary. So obviously, Green Bay did a number on the Colts last year, you know, Xavier, McKinney. He added the Colts to his victim list of like the million interceptions he had last year. The 80 Mitchell, in terms of practice, has passed so many tests. Like he dominated Baltimore a couple weeks ago. You know, had some decent moments in the game. But in practice, just in general these last couple weeks has been on fire. Does he keep it up against a better secondary in Green Bay? I'm really looking forward to seeing if he's able to kind of parlay that because I think we're all just waiting to see is this legit is this fools gold with him or is this him really turning the
Starting point is 00:17:07 page and then tyler warren i think he's just he's such a an x-factor in terms of like whatever a defense is throwing at you his presence can help them beat that whether it's his abilities to block and like do the quick blocks and where he falls off and then goes into a route like there are so many ways you can use a guy like tyler warren to counter what a defense is throwing at you. So those are two guys I really want to look forward to seeing both in the game and the practice. Yeah, E.D. Mitchell is really intriguing for me because I think when he is the main target and when he's involved in the passing play, he's shown some really good growth this off season in terms of the joint practice I saw and also in the game I saw against the Baltimore
Starting point is 00:17:47 Ravens. But the area that he still needs to grow in is when he's away from the action, when he's not getting the ball in his hand, when he has to be a blocker, when he has to be running the rub her out when he has to just giving a full effort to clear out guys in front of him. Those are very important aspects of playing wide receiver, and that's what makes or a break a player of being a starter or a backup in the NFL. So for me, he needs to get better away from the ball when he's not getting the ball in his hands, and then this breakout can really happen for him as a young player. And then Tyler Warren, awesome player, had a really great preseason debut.
Starting point is 00:18:20 I think he's going to be one of the most vital players for this Colts team this season, extremely excited to watch even more of him. The more he gets on the field, the more excited I get. Just to mention more Colt starters, though, just to see them in action for the first time at a long time. Healthy Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs back on the field. We don't know if Alec Pierce will be back out there this week. We'll have to see the updates on his injury.
Starting point is 00:18:43 And then just seeing, you know, again, future Hall of Famer Quentin Nelson out there on the field again. I always love seeing Quentin Nelson, Jonathan Taylor, and both the joint and hopefully this preseason game for a couple. couple snaps. I'm excited just to see these starters get some run out there, even if it's not for very long, just to see them get their legs under them and see, you know, just how good this Colts team can be because we can watch the second and third stringers have success and not success against teams in the preseason. But, you know, just seeing your real players in the field will tell you how good your team can be. You know, if Daniel Jones with this starting
Starting point is 00:19:16 offense looks below average and the offense is really struggling, then that can be an indication. Remember, that's what it was with the Matt Ryan season in 2022. We saw a little bit of that preseason with Matt Ryan. We're like, well, the arm doesn't look very good. And then it ended up kind of being a disaster. But I'm just excited to see these starters on the field, especially on the defense, which we're going to talk about in a second. But on offense, too, just seeing these veterans come back out there and seeing what they could do against this Packers defense. You know, again, it's not retribution for early last season, Jake, but it is certainly like a chance to show that there's been some growth with this team.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Yeah, like, I don't care about revenge or retribution or anything, just looking better than you did at that point, because it's, you know, somewhat similar circumstances for both sides. But a small one I would like to see as well is do we get any separation and Tyler Goodson and DJ Giddens would love to see that? Because Goodson's been on fire lately, and Giddens has had some really nice moments as a runner as well in camp. So I want to see a couple things there.
Starting point is 00:20:16 So we're going to talk about the defensive side of the ball coming up, guys. It's obviously the one with the biggest amount of change. How is Lews squad going to look against the prolific Malik Willis led Packers' offense? This episode is presented by Yahoo! Fantasy. It is the best time of the year. NFL kickoff is almost here, and that means that fantasy football season is back in full swing. And this year, Yahoo Fantasy has turned things up with a fantasy football experience like never before. This year, as always, Zach and I are going to be playing some Yahoo Fantasy,
Starting point is 00:20:49 and you should, too, whether you're a first time or dipping your toe into it, whether you're dipping your toe into fantasy football in general for the first time, or this is the millionth league you've been a part of. I've been part of Yahoo Leagues for years. I really like their interface. I think it is the most user-friendly one. To kick it off and celebrate 28 years of fantasy football greatness, Yahoo! Fantasy is dropping, again, 28 big new features over 28 days throughout August.
Starting point is 00:21:15 So they just dropped the Yahoo Fantasy guillotine leagues. It's a killer new way to play fantasy on Yahoo, where the lowest scoring team each week gets eliminated until there's only one team left standing. You know, if you have one bad week, you know, you got that week where he's scoring in the 60s or 70s, even if you got Josh Allen, tough, you're out. So with the season around the corner now is the time to get your league together and give this new mo to try. If you're more into the classics, you can still play in head-to-head private leagues or join a public league. So stay tuned for more killer announcements and start playing Yahoo Fantasy football now at Yahoo! Fantasy.com slash locked on NFL. All right, Zach.
Starting point is 00:21:57 So I don't know how much of this is about the Packers in general for you or if it's just stuff you want to see Colts players in general standing on business with. But no Jordan Love, it's Malik Willis in there. Matt LaFleur is a killer play caller. There is still Josh Jacobs. He exists. You know, the Packers have Matthew Goldenham. I think you said Jaden Reed was banged up,
Starting point is 00:22:19 but they got some guys over there, so to speak. So what are you looking for from the defensive side of the ball this week? Yeah, I think the two biggest things for me, especially with the Colts cornerback room being dinged up, it's hard for me to really like take anything away big from the cornerback room. So my focus is going to move to that front seven. It's going to be the most important thing for me. One is how does this pass rush look?
Starting point is 00:22:41 Because this pass rush will be make or break for the Colts team this year. especially again with the cornerback injuries are going to need this pass rush to be great and everything that you guys have reported is Laotu Latu is having a fantastic summer we are seeing him take that next step to Forrest Buckner has been dominant as usual I liked what I saw in preseason game one
Starting point is 00:23:01 from guys like Atatamiwa Atabore and Isaiah Land we know what Quaid can bring like I think that there are some good things in this pass rush room but I want to see how it looks with the bullets flying you know with these starters out there with them going against a real good team that knows how to scheme up and protect the quarterback. How do these guys look in that action there?
Starting point is 00:23:20 And then just the front seven when it comes to run defense and run fits, I know that their run defense is probably going to be worse than their past defense this year just because they're going to be a nickel, they're going to be in dime so often that it's going to be tough to be this dominant run defending team unless Grover Stewart just does Grover Stewart things all the time, which, you know, he'll do that a good bit, but not the whole year. So run defense is going to be tough,
Starting point is 00:23:41 but I want to see how much better these guys can be in their run fits following a pretty disastrous game against the Baltimore Ravens in terms of run defense, especially when like the second string guys are really getting run over in that Ravens game. It actually cleaned up a little bit when the third and fourth string guys came in there later. So those second string guys, I mean, we were seeing a good chunk of guys are going to play real games and Quitty Pay was out there as well. Like these were legit players for the Colts out there getting run all over them by that Baltimore Ravens offense last week.
Starting point is 00:24:11 So Green Bay's rushing offense almost as good. you know, in just terms of like yards per carry and stuff last year. Really good rushing offense. So can this Colts defense adjust and find some rhythm and run defense? I know it's going to be a struggle this year just in general, but can they at least get it to more average than just God awful like it was last week? Yeah, I am a million percent with you on that one because, again, the run defense, I am slightly concerned.
Starting point is 00:24:37 The personnel in general, like you mentioned, they're just going to have less big guys on the field. So that inherently is something worth mentioning. but you know what linebacker as well like zyre franklin i'm kind of willing to give him a pass a little bit for some of the issues last year because in general he has been at very worst like an average starting linebacker he's a guy that most teams would gladly accept on their team but the rest of the guys around him i think they've all proven that they look pretty decent in past coverage but someone is going to have to show that they're decent against the run as well as much as we love
Starting point is 00:25:12 Joe Batchy, and this summer's podcast has been, you know, presented by Joe Bachi in many instances. I would love to see a little bit better run defense from him. Same with Cam McGrone as well. These guys, I just think, have some things to prove. The defensive line, you know, if you just sub out J.T. Tuamolo for Daewa, Dangbo, like, I think that's a good little boost in run defense. How do you Taekwon Lewis, look in that department.
Starting point is 00:25:42 is Samson-Ebicom look in that department. And I want to throw this out here real quick. I'm kind of starting to develop a lukewarm take because JT, Tuamolo had a really, really good performance against Baltimore before he left with a knee injury. He was able to come back, you know, the very next practice. So I think he's all fine to go there. But if, I mean, QWERTY pays out right now with a groin injury.
Starting point is 00:26:05 Let's just say it's the regular season. Quitty goes out or anything. I think I would put Tua Molo out there. uh next to next to latu rather than you know tyquan or samson i think the colts would go with sams or tycoon especially since lou especially is such a veteran heavy guy but don't you think a guy like to him a low out if you give him more and more reps like with his skill set like he he's perhaps the future of of that strong side end spot anyways like wouldn't wouldn't you be down to see him out there yeah jake and honestly you're egging me on to go even more scorching hot takes
Starting point is 00:26:40 with how I feel about Taekwon Lewis and Samson-Ebucom going into this season. Let's be kind, yeah. But I do think part of that plays into just the questions we have with those two players, where Taekwon-Lewis, I think he's a solid run defender, perfectly fine run defender, but maybe he doesn't have the same juice as a pass rusher anymore, and it's certainly going downhill a little bit. And Samson-Ebukam, we've been very vocal all-off season about our concerns with bringing him back a 31-year-old edge rusher with coming off an Achilles injury.
Starting point is 00:27:07 So with those questions, yeah, I'd probably. probably rather have the young guy out there with insane length, with insane explosiveness and inability to rush the passer, probably a little bit more juice than those other two guys at this point. I would certainly rather him be on the field. But like you said, Luanarum was a little tough with young pass rushers. I think they would go with Ebukob. But I'm kind of with you. That'd probably be a mistake. I want to, you know what? Let's continue this talk about the defense and what we want to see. I want to see Samson W.com play in this preseason game. I don't care how much it is. I just want to see a couple snaps from him because I haven't seen much
Starting point is 00:27:42 of him this all season. I know with training camp, it's hard to really get a good grasp on defensive ends, but I have so many question marks on how he's going to look coming off that Achilles injury. I just need to see at least a couple like live action snaps from him to know if I'm going to feel okay or not okay about his play this year. Because again, coming back from Achilles, this is usually a two-year recovery. And he's back after a year here. I don't think it's going to be very good. But I want to be proven wrong. I want to see him out there in live action and be proven wrong. I want to see him look like Sansonetbicom again because he was so, so good in 2023. I just want to see what he has left in the tank because I'm not super
Starting point is 00:28:21 optimistic right now, but I want a reason to be optimistic, Jake. Yeah. And again, we just have to see what it looks like. He luckily was not a guy who was like super reliant on his agility. So like power and effort, I think, are things that could still allow him to, you know, set an edge and play the run pretty well. But yeah, I don't really see him getting, you know, eight and a half, nine, nine and a half sacks again like you did a couple years ago. Well, and the thing too with him, he's so predicated on power because what he would do is he would use his explosiveness and go speed to power. And that's how he would generate a lot of sacks, which is really great for him. But a lot of your power is derived from your lower half driving off those legs. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:05 And that's where the Achilles is. That's what makes these rushers so hard to come back from the Achilles injury. So, again, it's such a tough thing for him to come back. Like, the only guys we've ever really seen come back from this and be pretty solid still are like Hall of Fame Caliper guys like Brandon Graham and Khalil Mack. I love Sancton, but he's not that. So I really need to see him in live action. I need him in Saturday.
Starting point is 00:29:28 I need you to only watch him in joint practice, Jake. Don't watch these quarterbacks. I don't care about the quarterbacks. What do we get from that? Just watch Samson, Evocom. That'll get us all the clicks and all the reads that we need. And that'll be perfect. But all joking aside, like, I really need to see him in a live action setting again
Starting point is 00:29:45 before I can fully jump on with the hot take of JTT over him. But, like, to him a low-wow, man, I'm impressed by him. I think he's a good young player. And I'm a little more intrigued by him right now than Ebukom. Yeah, this really for you is Isaiah Land propaganda wrapped in a JT2, a low-ow cloak. It kind of is. Yeah. that's true so a couple more areas i want to see and again this doesn't have anything to do with green
Starting point is 00:30:10 bay it's it's we need to see these guys just continue to battle against themselves defensive tackle especially like nose tackle i i maybe they'll do one-on-ones and i'll be able to see a little something but like tim smith uh tupo and eric johnson like i got i got to see something like as far you don't expect them to flash because they're not pass rushers so like to their benefit like they could be doing really good things on tape and practice and we're just not noticing because that stuff doesn't stick out but I would like to see it probably in the game get some run stuff like be released out clog up some lanes influence the running back a little bit so I want to see some separation there because right now I think backup nose tackle is maybe
Starting point is 00:30:56 for you too the position that's most up in the air for me I have no idea at all there and then you know the continuation of Alex Johnson and Jonathan Edwards and while these guys are getting their chance to get reps because everybody else is hurt, what are you going to do with those reps? I mean, Malik Willis isn't a prolific passer, so you have a real opportunity here to make some plays in the passing game. Yeah, you know, it's funny. I was going to end this show by saying, will the legend of Hunter Woller and Alex Johnson continue in this offseason? Hunter Woller, who comes from the University of Wisconsin, is facing the Wisconsin-based pro football team. So he's going to go psycho. I'm sure he will.
Starting point is 00:31:34 I'm sure. Yeah, I want to see the young, like, under the radar players kind of make a play. I don't know Hunter Waller even counts as under the radar anymore at this point. But he's going to get probably starting reps this week with Nick Cross out with the hit flexor. So another chance for Hunter Waller to prove that he belongs in the NFL. But that's all we have for today, guys. We're excited for joint practices. What time to joint practice kick off tomorrow, Jake?
