You guys know me as your resident film nerd covering the Indianapolis Colts. Glad to be
here today. I'm glad you guys could all join me because we have covering the Indianapolis Colts. Glad to be here today.
I'm glad you guys could all join me because we have a fun show on deck here.
We're talking about Michael Pittman Jr., the star wide receiver for the Colts.
The Colts locked him up with a non-exclusive franchise tag today.
We're going to talk all about that. And then we're going to have some fun with our final segments.
We're going to talk about your guys' responses to me and Jake's mock draft battle on yesterday's show.
We're going to look through some of the YouTube comments and see some of the players you guys want to talk about,
some of the overall responses to our mock drafts.
We're just going to have a little bit of fun with that segment.
And then to close out the show,
we're going to talk about the free agent safety market
and how something I heard at the Combine from a couple agents is,
look, the Colts could be in play for a couple of these free agent safeties.
We're going to talk about that to close out today's show but to start off today's show it's all about
Michael Pittman Jr. Pittman Jr. the former second round pick of the Indianapolis Colts he's averaged
over a thousand yards a season each of the last three years with the Colts has done some really
really great things for this team I mean he's gotten better every single year we've seen the
production increase even with the quarterback play not being stellar here. So the Colts had to do the right thing here,
which is lock him up for this season at the very least, and still keep that long-term option
on the table. So they put the non-exclusive tag on him, which will pay him $21.816 million
guaranteed this season. I believe there is injury guarantee with the way the tag works.
So he will get that money regardless, but with the non-exclusive tag, you know, I've seen some
people respond to this by saying, okay, look, maybe the Colts want to lose him now. Maybe the
Colts are open to losing Michael Pittman Jr. for the right price and yada, yada, yada. Like when
teams put the non-exclusive tag on players, I mean, for one thing, it keeps it cheaper
because I believe the exclusive tag is a little bit heavier of a price tag.
But also the non-exclusive tag, it basically is the common franchise tag we see today.
Nobody's paying two first round picks for Michael Pittman Jr.
Just like with all these other free agents that got it, you know, Jalen Johnson with
the Bears, no one's paying two first round picks to acquire him from the Bears.
So the non-exclusive franchise tag basically is the exclusive franchise tag, if it makes sense.
It's just a cheaper version of it. We haven't seen a team take away another player for two
first round picks in 24 years with a non-exclusive franchise tag. So Pittman Jr. will be back with
the Colts this upcoming season, like Chris Ballard said in his combine availability.
But it just comes down to, will that be on on a long term deal? Will that be on this franchise tag?
That still remains to be seen. Now, I have a firm belief that the Colts are going to get this long
term deal done this offseason. I know they were talking about it today. Even there was multiple
sources from James Boyd, Destin Adams and multiple other people that were saying the Colts were
trying to take it down to the wire today just to, you know, get a proper feel for what his market
was and try to get that long-term deal done. But ultimately it didn't get done. Colts placed a tag
on Pittman Jr. It makes a lot of sense. And, you know, with this non-exclusive tag, him and his
agents can still talk to other teams. Again, it's very, very unlikely that any team is going to
fork over two first round picks and 20 something million dollars per year for Pittman. But what
this does do is it gets a good feel around the league for what teams would have paid him if you
were available. Now, again, these teams can exaggerate a little bit. They can say we would
have given you $30 million a year and he can take that back to Ballard and Ballard can laugh about
it because that's not realistic. But it does give him a, you know, this opportunity to feel what his price tag
would have been because he's still allowed to have those conversations with other teams while he's on
this non-exclusive tag. So it's just a bargaining chip. It's a way that, you know, these two sides
can come back together after free agency gets all sorted out. And the conversations are had with
other free agents for both these sides to get together and say, okay, here's what we want to get to. Here's the
number one to get to. Here's the years we want to get to, and let's get this thing done. So
look, I'd be really shocked if Pittman Jr. is not given a long-term extension at some point
this off season. It just doesn't make any sense to not get it done. I would expect it to be around
four years, probably close to $100
million with a good $40 million guaranteed. And I think that's a good deal for Pittman Jr.,
especially if it's basically a two-year $40-something million deal. It makes a lot of
sense for both teams. Pittman Jr. loves it here. He's a vital focal point of this entire offense.
The offense runs through Pittman Jr. We saw that Atlanta game when he didn't play this year, just how abysmal this offense could look without him. So we know how important he is to this offense.
The next step now is bringing back Pittman, bringing back all these other weapons,
getting a healthy Anthony Richardson out there, and maybe adding another player or two,
maybe a Brian Thomas Jr. in round one, maybe an A.D. Mitchell in round one, maybe a Brock Bowers
in round one, whoever that's going to be. It's about adding to the offense and not subtracting it. So
ultimately, the Colts could not afford to lose Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason,
and they're not going to. They're going to get him back for this upcoming season,
and the Colts offense should hopefully be able to just take off from where they were last year.
But yeah, to all you people that were
a little concerned, a little concerned that the Colts might not bring back Michael Pittman Jr.
or for other fan bases that were excited about the potential of signing Pittman Jr. this offseason,
it's officially done. That dream for other teams is dead. The hopelessness for our guys is dead.
He is back. Michael Pittman Jr. is back with the Colts. He will be a Colt no
matter what this next season. And I'd be very shocked if he's not a Colt for the next three,
four, five, whatever amount of years. I mean, the Colts want to get this done. A long-term deal will
get done at some point this off season. I feel very, very confident predicting that. But coming
up, guys, we're going to have some fun. We're going to talk about the mock draft show from
yesterday and talk about some of your guys' responses and other players
that you wanted to see mentioned there.
I mean, look, we're going to the YouTube comments.
You guys know how that can be, but we're going to go to the YouTube comments
and have some fun with it.

Already locked on listeners and my beautiful everydayers.
Now I have decided to journey where no man should ever go. And that is to the YouTube comment section
to find some comments on yesterday's show
that me and Jake did.
So if you guys follow the show,
if you guys watch it every day,
like I just mentioned the beautiful everydayers,
we did a mock draft Monday episode
where me and Jake did dueling three round mocks
with each other.
And I asked you guys to comment
what you thought about these players
and what you thought about some other players in the draft. So I'm going right
to the comment section. We're going to talk about some of the other players that me and Jake
omitted from our mock draft. You guys want to see the mock draft, go to yesterday's show and watch
that. I highly recommend it. We're going to talk about some of these other players here.
So Hustleman Jones commented on the YouTube channel. He said, round one, go Quinion Mitchell,
round two, go to Vondre Sweat, and round one, go Quinion Mitchell. Round two, go
Tavondre Sweat. In round three, go Ricky Pearsall. So if you guys don't know who those players are,
Quinion Mitchell, cornerback from Toledo, Tavondre Sweat, defensive tackle from Texas,
and Ricky Pearsall, wide receiver from Florida. Now to start off, Hustle Man, I love Quinion
Mitchell in round one. I love Quinion Mitchell in general. He came in a little short on Chris
Ballard's typical arm length measurements that he's cool with, but Quinion Mitchell, super athlete, super competitive,
really fun player, has that alpha personality that you like in a cornerback. So Quinion Mitchell,
he's my cornerback two in this class. I would absolutely be pumped to get him at pick 15 in
this class. So A plus on that first one there. Tavondre Sweat in round two is very interesting.
A very productive player from Texas last year.
Part of one of the best defensive tackle duos
in all of college football alongside Byron Murphy.
My big concern with Tavondre Sweat is
we haven't really seen players
at his size work out recently in the NFL.
Tavondre Sweat came in at the combine at 360 pounds.
And he had to work down to get to 360 pounds coming into the combine.
We're even seeing players like Jordan Davis,
who was at 340 coming into the league at defensive tackle.
He's very much a rotational player with the Eagles.
And he's much more athletic and just juiced up than a guy like Tavondre Sweat is.
So when you're taking Sweat that high, you're hoping that he can cut the weight down
and be like a legit 60% snap player.
And I just don't know if he's going to be that in the NFL.
I think he's going to be like a 20% snap player.
And I think that's a little too high there in the second round.
So I love Devondre Sweat's film.
I think he was great in college football.
I'm just concerned about that fit in the NFL,
but you guys can let me know what you think there.
And then Ricky Pearsall in round three is so fascinating because,
you know, I think if you were to ask any Colts fan this question last year,
like, okay, who were the weapons that Anthony Richland was throwing to in college?
We'd all say, oh, he was throwing to nobodies.
He was throwing to non-NFL guys.
And now a year later, we're all saying, okay, Ricky Pearsall in round one
or Ricky Pearsall round two, Ricky Pearsall round three, whatever it's going to be.
I like Ricky Pearsall.
I think round three is perfectly reasonable for him.
He's got the athletic traits.
He's got the hands.
He's got the route running on film.
I think this is where I'm the highest.
I would take him though.
Round three.
I'm good with round two is too much for me.
But for all you guys saying that you want Ricky Pearsall in Indy, I think round three
is fine. I wouldn't go too much higher. Round three is good for me. But for all you guys saying that you want Ricky Pearsall in Indy, I think round three is fine. I wouldn't go too much higher. Round three is good for me. I personally have a
fourth round grade on him, but again, I'll take him there in round three. Zine Edwards, 5213.
He commented saying, not sure if Worthy will work due to him. You know, it's being a little too high
taking him at pick 15 and I don't see Ballard trading up from round two to get him so maybe you can move back and get him or something like that but I kind of agree kind
of disagree a little bit with Xavier Worthing now when we're talking hyper juiced up speed receivers
and record-breaking speed teams are going to take that pretty early we've seen players of his caliber
or players with his archetype go in the teens of the first round. So if there is this massive run on
wide receivers, if there's this big run where Brian Thomas is off the board, maybe also AD
Mitchell. I don't know if the Colts would have Mitchell or Worthy higher. And Worthy is your
best receiver on the board and you just really want to go wide receiver. I could see taking him
at 15. Look again, Xavier Worthy was an 18 year old freshman at Texas who put up nearly a thousand
yards.
He was the focal point of that offense for three straight season led, led Texas and receiving
three years in a row, hyper juiced up great speed, really, really good players.
So look, if you take that at 15, me personally, I'm not upset by that.
I know I've been very high on, on Xavier Worthy this entire draft process, but if you're taking
him at 15, I'm cool with it. If you're trading back and getting him, I'm even better with it.
If you're trading up from round two and getting him, I'm cool with it too. Any way that you can
get Xavier Worthy, I'm pretty happy because I'm that high on him as a prospect. I think he's a
really, really good player and I would love to have him in this offense. Now I have other guys
ahead of him, like a Brian Thomas Jr.,
who I took in my mock draft Monday,
but Xavier Worthy I would not complain about whatsoever at 15.
If the Colts took him at 15,
even over some of these other guys that we talk about,
I won't complain.
I really legit see Xavier Worthy as the next Deshaun Jackson,
so if the Colts took him at 15, I'd be pumped.
I think the film is good.
I think the metrics are good. I think the
metrics are good. I think obviously the combine was great with him. He does some things that it's
just rare and you always want to add rare players to your offense. So yeah, I'm all for Xavier
Worthy. I really do think at 15 or in a trade back, I'd be all for taking him in round one,
but great question there. I do think it's an interesting thing to look at there. We have another comment here about Xavier, another Xavier, uh, Cazell three, two, six, six.
It says, I think Xavier Leggett from South Carolina is a steal at wide receiver. He ran a
four, three. Now I think this comment actually leaves out how impressive Xavier, Xavier Leggett's
40 time was because Leggett ran a four-3 but he came in at like 220 pounds
now he's very much built like an A.J. Brown type of receiver I'm not making this comparison I'm
not saying he is A.J. Brown but he's built in a similar way where it's that shorter squattier
wide receiver who's 220 plus pounds but also runs like the wind that's what Xavier Leggett is that's
kind of where the comparison ends though because when you look at Leguette on film, he did some good things this year. A lot of
his big plays came on taking slants to the house, you know, a little bit of run after catch type
stuff. He's got some juice to get vertical. I think my big concern with him is you see the
lack of fluidity on film. You see the lack of refinement on film. And also it took him so long
to break out in college.
I mean, it took him until his fifth season, sixth season, whatever.
I think it was his fifth season to finally have like any production at the college level.
Now, when he got that production, it was outstanding.
It was over a thousand yards this past year.
He was the focal point of that offense, which you love to see.
But it took him so long to get to that point to where he was, you know, what a 22, 23 year old man who was dominating 1920 year olds, you know, and I mean,
in the SEC. So again, I don't want to downplay it too much. But I'm always wary of players who are
very late breakouts in college, and they don't break out until they're essentially grown men
playing with college kids. And that's my fear with Xavier Leguette. And then also, again,
the lack of refinement for being a fifth year senior, the lack of the route running prowess. And I know a lot of people will look at
him and they'll say, okay, cool. This is another AJ Brown type. I'm feeling good about that.
But also you can look at it on the same hand and say, this looks like a Jonathan Mingo type. This
looks like a Traylon Burks type. You know, again, we've seen this type miss quite a bit as much as
we've seen hit or maybe even more than we've seen it hit. So, you know, Xavier Leggett, I get it. And I
think if you take him, you have to have a very specific yards after catch like underneath type
role for him. But I do understand the hype there. If you take him on day two, I think you can have
a really good role player in your offense. You just can't ask him to be your every down, like
number one wide receiver, because I just don't think that's who he is. Uh, but yeah, I love the traits,
love the upside, love that he finally broke out this year. It's great to see a player who just
kind of stuck with it his entire career and finally broke out. And I love seeing him run
that four, three. So I'm not, I'm not like out on Xavier like yet. I just, you know, I'm a little
more cautious with him than I am over, you you know with some of these other wide receivers in this draft class uh final comment we got here is from terry davis 6336 he says i don't
know i don't get why you guys are sleeping on wiggins now i'm assuming he's talking about
the cornerback from clemson wiggins who's supposed to go in the first round super super good athlete
i mean i think you ran the four th threes. We knew this whole draft process.
He was going to test like one of the best corners in this entire class. And he certainly showed it
at the combine. I think my big concern with him is, you know, maybe I'm just like broken by Chris
Ballard. I really could just be broken by Chris Ballard to the point where when I'm watching
draft prospects, I'm only watching them from the Chris Ballard point of view. And when I look at a player like Wiggins, I don't see a Chris Ballard player in the
slightest.
Would I take Wiggins in round one?
Sure.
Absolutely.
I love the traits.
I love the film.
I think he does a lot of great things with the ball in the air.
And he has some really good flashes.
But I don't think Chris Ballard does because the shorter arms, because he's kind of more
like slimmer, like a
narrow type player, and he's not a good tackler. He doesn't come up. He doesn't make hits. He
doesn't tackle guys. A lot of whiffs in the run department. And then again, the skinnier frame,
the shorter arms, it's very anti-Chris Ballard. I mean, when you look at all the corners he's taken,
Rakia Sin, the former wrestler, you get Juju Brents, a really big bulky corner, Darius Rush,
Jalen Jones,
even going all the way back to Nate Harrison and Quincy Wilson. I'm not saying it's the right path
to take. I'm not saying Chris Ballard's always right at cornerback, but we obviously have a
type that he takes at the cornerback position, and that's really not what Wiggins is. I just
don't really see it when I'm watching Wiggins film. So if we exclude him from conversations of first
round corner, if we exclude him from mock drafts, when it comes to the Colts, it's because we just
don't see him as a fit with the Colts. And I think that, I mean, I think that makes a lot of sense.
You guys can let me know in the comment section and how you respond to this video, but yeah,
I like Wiggins a lot. I just, I just don't see him being on the Colts draft board, or if he is
on the Colts draft board, I don't see him being on the Colts draft board. Or if he is on the Colts draft board,
I don't see him being higher than guys like Teron Arnold or Cooper DeGene or Quinion Mitchell. So I
just don't think he's going to be that high for the Indianapolis Colts. But you guys let me know
in the comments section what you think. I think those are all some good players, really great
comments there. And we're going to keep having fun with all those things there. So make sure you keep
leaving comments on our mock drafts give your input and give some
players that you absolutely love in this upcoming draft but coming up we're going to talk about free
agency now free agency is a week away we know which players got tagged and which players didn't
and i really do think there is one position the colts are going to be targeting when it comes to
free agency but first get buckets with your first bet on FanDuel, America's number one sportsbook,

All righty, everydayers. We are back with our final segment on today's show, Fandle, official sportsbook partner of the NBA.
Alrighty, everydayers, we are back with our final segment on today's show.
And we're talking about safeties in free agency.
Now, I'm sure you guys have heard there's been a lot of safety movement on the open market.
And a lot of it has been pointing towards there being an abundance of good safeties out there in free agency this year.
Now, Kyle Duggar from the New England Patriots was tagged.
So he will not be available. But pretty much everyone else is going to be out there in free agency this year. Now, Kyle Duggar from the New England Patriots was tagged, so he will not be available,
but pretty much everyone else is going to be out there.
Safeties Cam Curl and Xavier McKinney were not tagged by their respective teams.
And then Rayshawn Jenkins, Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs,
all of them got released today as well.
So it's just going to be a loaded, loaded free agency when it comes to safety.
And I think this bodes really well for the Indianapolis Colts. Now, look, I'm not a newsbreaker. I'm not a reporter. So don't take this as some official like super insider report. But I did talk to a few agents and a few
NFL people when I was out there at the NFL Combine. And a couple of them did relate to me like, look,
the Colts have been sniffing around the safety market. It seems like the Colts are going to be
interested in some of these safeties.
Now, I know this isn't, again, a game-breaking report or anything.
It makes a lot of sense that the Colts are going to be interested in safeties
with Julian Blackman potentially walking this offseason
and with the big need at safety alongside Nick Cross.
So I do think that there is going to be some movement on the safety market,
and at least one or two of these guys will end up in Indy.
I have heard there is mutual interest between a couple players and the safety market. And at least one or two of these guys will end up in Indy. I have heard there is mutual interest between a couple of players and the Colts. I'm not going
to say which guys it is because again, that's just not how you keep relationships with guys
and with agents and stuff like that. But I've heard there is some mutual interest between a
couple of these players with the Colts. So we'll see what happens there. My hunch when I'm looking
at the safety market and when I'm looking at this Colts roster is that the Colts. So we'll see what happens there. My hunch when I'm looking at the safety market and
when I'm looking at this Colts roster is that the Colts want to keep Nick Cross at free safety.
Now that obviously comes with some risk because Nick Cross was very hit or miss in his couple
snaps out there last year, had a fantastic pick against the Pittsburgh Steelers, had a couple
really bad whiffs and missed tackles against the Atlanta Falcons and against the Raiders to close the season.
But I do think there is some potential there.
So I understand the Colts wanting to keep him at free safety, keep that development, and kind of go into the offseason with the plan of starting him.
And then having a backup plan for Rodney Thomas or maybe some other players that they could sign on free agency.
So I do think it's a good start to have Cross at free safety, but where I think they're really going to attack the strong safety position
is in free agency. I think they're going to go find a veteran strong safety to run alongside
Nick Cross. That way he can take some of those responsibilities away from Cross. You have a good
run defender in the box and a player who has good ball skills also around the linebackers and,
and kind of doing those box things that we see in this cover three scheme. So I do think, you know, if you were looking at like free agent safety is,
and you're looking at the types that the Colts are going to go after, I think you want to look for,
you know, to, to, for lack of better words, you want to look for the cam chancellor and not for
the Earl Thomas in free agency. I think you're looking at guys like J Ron curse. You're looking
at guys like Jeremy chin, Kyle Duggar, if he were to hit cam curl, Xavier McKinney, I know he can kind of
do a little bit of both, but like Xavier McKinney, uh, Jordan Whitehead, you know, you're looking at
these types of guys, Ray Sean Jenkins. These are the types of guys you want to look at when you're
looking at free and seeing you're really putting together what the Colts could do in the open
market this year, rather than looking at the Geno stones and looking at
the Anton Winfields of he worked to have hit and stuff like that. Like, I don't think they're going
for a free safety. I think it's going to be the strong safety type that can play in the box.
And I'm not saying that Julian Blackman won't be back next year. I'm just saying the Colts are very,
you know, they're, they're approaching this with a really realistic thought in their mind where
look, Blackman has been really good when he's played and this season was
his best career season but at the end of the day he has not been healthy for any season with the
Colts he's he's missed time every single year and a lot of these have been pretty big injuries
so when you're looking at you know bringing him back and you're looking at this whole open market
sure you want to work back to him and maybe get a deal done and bring him back into camp at least
and and get him back on this team but you can't really commit too many years to a player like
that because you never know when the next injury is going to be and maybe maybe he'll go the rest
of his career like Malik Cougar did like the second he leaves the Colts all of a sudden he's
super healthy never misses a game and becomes a really good safety that's fine but again you have
to look at it with the information in front of you.
And the information in front of you says Julian Blackman has not finished a season fully healthy like ever.
So you have to kind of approach it that way.
I think Julian Blackman is a really good safety.
And I don't think it's off the table for him to come back.
It's just they have to do their due diligence and look at all these other safeties that
are going to be out there.
But, you know, we'll see if this is the position that Chris Ballard wants to spend big.
He typically doesn't. And I don't think that's a secret. He doesn't
really spend, you know, the A money on B players, like he likes to say. But there are options out
there. Again, I mentioned a couple of players, but like if they wanted to go big, Xavier McKinney
is going to hit the open market. And he's a player that would make this defense infinitely better
from day one. Pure ball hawk, a guy who has great tackling ability, can play inside and out,
does a lot of great things at safety.
And Chris Ballard has tried to spend at safety before he tried to give Landon Collins a big
contract years ago.
So maybe this is a giant safety that he's able to lure to Indy.
But I think there are a ton of options is what I'm trying to say here.
And it could be an older veteran like a Kajay Diggs or like a Jamal Adams,
where you're just getting, you know, that veteran type player alongside Nick Cross.
So that way your whole defense has better communication.
Or maybe it is just a young ascending player like a Jordan Whitehead or Jeremy Chin or,
you know, a Cam Curl, like a guy who just brings some more juice and some playmaking
to this defense.
But the Colts are going to do their due diligence.
There's a lot of good safety talent out there.
And I'd be very shocked if the Colts came out of free agency
without a new veteran starting safety.
I really do think that that's the way they're going to go with this.
And they're going to have a new strong safety alongside Nick Cross
going into this offseason.
But we'll see how it plays out.
Again, I'm not much of a reporter, so we'll see how all that plays out.
But again, I feel very confident predicting that for the Colts. They're going to get a safety. out again i'm not much of a reporter so we'll see how much how all that plays out but again i feel
very confident predicting that for the colts they're going to get a safety they're going to
take a hard look at the strong safety class they're going to bring in a veteran that fits
the scheme and fits playing alongside nick cross it's gonna be really cool to see uh before we get
