Starting point is 00:00:01 Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator, Lou Ann Rumo, had some odd comments to say the least today when talking with media. Let's get to it. You are Locked-on Colts, your daily Indianapolis Colts podcast. Part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day. Welcome to Locked-on Colts. I'm Zach Hicks.
Starting point is 00:00:29 That's Jake Arthur, and today's episode is brought to you by GameTime. Download the GameTime app, Crane account, and use code Locked-on for $20. of your first purchase. On today's show, we have an action-packed episode for you. We're going to be talking all about Lou Anarumo's press conference availability today. We usually don't really devote entire segments to this, but Lou had to answer for so much that went wrong in the first game against the Baltimore Ravens that I do think there were some noteworthy things that he talked about, some that I agree with him on, some that I really don't agree with him on. We will discuss that in the first segment.
Starting point is 00:01:02 then we're going to dive into some potential changes that we could see for week two. Maybe this is not something that's in the cards for the Colts, but it's something that Jake and I would like to see personally. I'm sure you guys know exactly one of the ones I'm going to bring up in the second segment. And then to close it all out, the Kansas City Chiefs played last night, and they look like the Kansas City Chiefs again. Maybe not like, you know, the first year of Pat Mulhomes, Kansas City Chiefs, but they look pretty darn good.
Starting point is 00:01:28 So we're going to preview that matchup with the Chiefs a little bit in the final segment, and just kind of reacting to what the Chiefs did to the Denver Broncos last year's, what, like, top two seed in the AFC that went to the AFC championship game made them look like they were nothing. So we're going to talk about that to close out today's show. But Jake, where should we start here with Lou Anuromo's quotes? I think the one that probably irked you the most, and it didn't really get on me too much, but the tempo of the game got the best of them. You know, Lou Anirmo did mention how they did do a lot of things to kind of prep for tempo going into the week. but the speed of the game made miscommunications more prevalent, made some issues there. What was kind of your takeaway with that quote?
Starting point is 00:02:08 Overall, like I thought it was kind of more of a coach speak thing, but what did you really get out of that one? Yeah, to me, it just sounded like they weren't truly ready for the game. Like, they put in their game plan and like they executed what they wanted to throughout the week of practice. But for Lou to speculate that maybe the speed of the game was a problem for them or whatever, I was like, okay, so like should you guys have played more of your starters in the preseason? Like to me, that just literally made it sound like we were not ready for the season to start because like did Ikeem Davis Gather need to set out the preseason? Did Arden Key need to set out the preseason?
Starting point is 00:02:43 Like A.J. Halsey only played in one game as well. So it's like I don't know if their approach was really proper to the preseason and then being fresh for the regular season. And then just like the amount of miscommunications and like not lining up properly, just all of the mental errors for a defense that was together all summer. They dealt with very few like injuries among the players that were actually out there on Sunday. Like they said they weren't even lined up properly on that first like 50 yard play that Zay Flowers had. So like right off the bat, it just felt like they were not. prepared for this game.
Starting point is 00:03:28 And that's very concerning because this has been the one game you're supposed to be prepared for for months. So where do you go from here? Yeah, I mean, I will say when it comes to the first week, it probably is the hardest game to game prep for because you don't have any film on what to expect on that team. So I do understand from that degree. And then also to kind of talk about the preseason aspect, for anyone who thinks like, oh, maybe the Colts should have played more guys in the preseason, the Ravens, I think only
Starting point is 00:03:55 one of their starters in the game on Sunday played in the preseason. Lamar Jackson didn't take a preseason snap. Most of their defense didn't take a preseason snap, and they looked awesome. So I don't know if there's much of a correlation there with all that, but I do agree they just looked disjointed out there. To talk about that big Zay Flowers play, I was watching that play a couple times over earlier today, and it was just a mess from start to finish. The two safeties had no clue who was supposed to be in the box, who was supposed to be over top.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Mooney Ward traveled with a tight end in line, and he was basically fitting the run in, like, the B gap as a result, which that should have been either the nickel corner or one of the safeties. I have no clue why Mooney Ward traveled there. Mooney should have been sitting on Zayflowers instead of Wally on that play. And also it looked like Wally was playing inside leverage like he had a safety over the top, and he didn't have that help. So it was just a really weird play to start the season on. And you can certainly chalk that up to a lot of miscommunication and just issues across the board for the first. the Colts defense. I think another thing that was noteworthy that the winner will talk about was just that everything is being evaluated, which
Starting point is 00:04:58 duh, it should be after a game like that. Right. I mean, it was just a thorough butt kicking. So you deserve to have everything evaluated. I know some beat reporters were making, I don't want to say like a fuss about it, but they were really talking about like the Cameron Bynum communication and green dot aspect of that. When I kind of went through the quotes, it didn't seem like that was something that Lou was singling out. It was more so like what a question was being asked, but how did you kind of take that comment from Andoram. Yeah, I don't, I don't know if it's so much on Bynum because he, he's been the on-field
Starting point is 00:05:30 play caller pretty much all summer. I mean, what's that, like 14 training camp practices they had and everything. And then a couple weeks of buffer before the season. So that all should be worked out. Like Bynum, Bynum's been fine. I really don't know how much of a deal of that is. Maybe it's just these guys not playing together. I don't, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:52 But because, again, that doesn't quite make sense either because really that starting group has been out there a lot together throughout the entire summer. So for that amount of miscommunication and just like misalignment, I don't understand how that happens with this group already being together so much. Well, I have a theory. Let me throw this out there. I have a theory. I had a someone, I don't want to call them a source, but someone who's working in the league was telling me it's like the. Colts prepared for a Todd Monkin offense from a couple years ago. And so when we came out, when they came out in like this Chicago Bear style offense, it was foreign language to them. And
Starting point is 00:06:32 that's what led to a lot of issues. And I think that's kind of where a lot of issues came. Like if you're going into a game expecting a lot of pistol and read option and all the stuff that Monkin does in the run game and then they're coming out in 13 personnel under center play action boot stuff, your communication is not going to be on point. I'm not using that as an excuse. I'm saying, why the heck were you preparing for Todd Monkin? when Declan Doyle comes from Ben Johnson, and they were saying all offseason, they were going to run under center play action stuff.
Starting point is 00:06:59 So that's more of the issue, I think, in my opinion. But we'll see if the communication issues persist going forward. Because if they do, then you probably do have to look harder at the Cameron Bynum, green dot aspect. And you've got to get one of these linebackers ready. But, gosh, I don't know if any of these linebackers who played on Sunday should be out there, you know, or at least should be safe. I keep making the joke that we're like one more bad day away from Jermann Pratt
Starting point is 00:07:21 being back in the building and wearing that green dot. But we'll see what ultimately happens with that. Two Aniromo comments that I actually had no issue with, and I completely agreed with him on, and maybe the comments will disagree here. But when he was asked about Sauce Gardner, potentially shadowing Zayflowers, they mentioned that Zayflowers coming out of the slot, and being in these like speed motions would put sauce on a lot of disinventitious situations for the Colts, disadvantageous situations for the Colts. And I agree. Like you really like when it comes to shadowing receivers, you're mostly shadowing the outside receivers. You really do that slot guys. Because again, you'll motion these guys into the backfield and then you'll get Sauce Gardner fitting
Starting point is 00:08:01 a B gap and then they'll just run power right at Sauce Gardner. That's just not going to work for your team. So I actually agree with that. You can't really shadow a player like Zayflowers. Now you can bracket him and I think they should have bracketed him a couple times when they didn't. Or you could have a robber over the middle of the field to help out with leverage, but I do agree that you couldn't shadow Zayflowers because just the nature of the decision he plays. And then Annamo also just heightened his belief in Justin Wally, you know, after one bad game. And honestly, again, when you rewatch the film, he got beat a couple times, but he was given no help. He was put on an island against one of the best receivers in football. And he was getting beat, like running away from him routes across the
Starting point is 00:08:40 field rather than just being beat in the half field. So I don't even think it was that awful of a game from Justin Wally. I don't even think he was a bottom five defender in this game for me. He was just put in some really awful situations. And he didn't succeed in the situation. So certainly we want to see better from him. But there's no reason to talk about like benching Justin Wally after the game. There's five more players on defense I'd bench before him, which we'll probably talk in the next segment. So I don't really have a qualm with that.
Starting point is 00:09:05 But real quick, one quam I do have was when he said C.J. Allen was set back about a month with his injuries. But A.J. Halsey was only set back a week because Halsey was still able to do some like light workout stuff. I don't like I don't care of Alan set back a month. It was still better than the, it's probably better than the linebackers we saw out there on Sunday. It couldn't get much worse. But I also think that's just weird because Halsey did miss weeks of practice.
Starting point is 00:09:28 And again, even going in perfectly healthy, I don't think he was the right safety to start in that game. So I did, I did have a bit more qualms with that comment from, from Lu and Rumo. Yeah, my only read on that is Halsey made it pretty much all the way through training camp at least where they were installing everything. and the only time he missed was when they were specifically game planning for like this game,
Starting point is 00:09:50 whereas Alan missed the first two practices of camp and then like a week and change of camp, like I think five or six practices with that hamstring. So he missed some of the install stuff. I still don't think it all adds up. Like we've seen guys miss, even rookies, miss practice a lot. And they're, they almost made it sound like he's still injured. if that's if that makes sense like yeah i don't understand it he should have probably just been inactive because it sounds like they did not have any intentions of playing him unless it was going
Starting point is 00:10:25 be like an emergency uh it was an emergency it was i don't understand i mean lou said that jalen carly's had some good run fits in that game no he didn't i disagree right i just don't understand how how this guy is apparently so behind i don't understand like i'm sure there's unspoken things that he's just not going to like throw him under the bus or anything like maybe he's really not as far along as they thought he would be and that's the answer and they just don't want to say that because they don't want to you know throw him under the bus or insult him or anything but that's probably what it is because the reasons they're throwing out just don't really make sense like yeah we have data from years and years and years about other situations with other players
Starting point is 00:11:10 that are comparable and they you know it it doesn't it does just doesn't all out of. Yeah, so maybe you get Tosh Chambers out there then, because if he's ready to roll, I mean, I'm ready to see somebody else, then the couple guys they threw at Will a linebacker. But we're going to talk about some potential changes going forward that even if the Colts aren't super interested in it, Jake and I are probably a little bit more interested in some of these changes.
Starting point is 00:11:33 The NFL is full of games that you plan for all year, but sometimes the best memories come from the games that you almost missed. Game time makes it easy to find tickets to NFL matchups that you want to see with prices that include fees. that you know your total cost up front. You can browse games, see a panoramic view from your seat before you buy, and you can get tickets in just a couple taps. Plus, zone deals let you choose the section and lets GameTime choose the seats for you,
Starting point is 00:12:00 which helps you save even more. Whether it's a rivalry game, a matchup featuring a player that you've just got to see in person or an underdog that's ready to make some noise, game makes getting tickets to that game simple. Think about the game on the schedule that you absolutely don't want to miss. There's certain games we're watching on TV. It's just not the same. A rivalry game with everything on the line, a packed stadium, that atmosphere.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Those are the games worth finding a way to be there. Game time makes it easy to find those tickets. The Colts are in a perfect, this is the perfect example this weekend. I've not been to Arrowhead, but I've heard experiencing games that Arrowhead is just otherworldly, and it's almost like football Nirvana. And I was on GameTime earlier today. There are plenty of seats at very reasonable prices. So if you just want to be in that atmosphere and you're still holding out hope for the Colts in this matchup,
Starting point is 00:12:51 then go on game time today and go visit Arrowhead. It is a classic NFL stadium. Get your friends together, get your tickets, and tell them it's game time. A new football season brings some big questions. Who makes the playoffs?
Starting point is 00:13:14 Who wins their division? and who takes home the title Kalshi. America's number one prediction market platform lets you trade on those predictions in a live market. Will the Colts be the chiefs this week? Well, right now, India is currently trading at 28%, meaning $100 trade would pay out over $350 if they are somehow victorious. On Kalshi, you're trading against peers in a live market,
Starting point is 00:13:35 meaning there's no house, and as probability changes, you can buy in and out of your position. Trade the draft pick, the game, and more on Kalshi. Starting point is 00:14:05 slash regulatory already locked on Koltz-Everde-A-Rs we are back talking about some potential changes we'd like to see to the Colts lineup but before we do that Don't forget to check out the Everydayer Club for ad-free episodes and access to a group chat with other listeners of the show, me and Jake. tap the link in the show notes or go to lockdown Colts.com.com to join. All right, Jack, I'm going to throw it to you first. What are some notable changes you would like to see to the line? I guess it doesn't have to be a very big change or anything, but what is something that you would like to see going into this next week? I am always big on making sure the Colts make adjustments and acknowledging problems.
Starting point is 00:14:45 So one of the very first things I thought of, and as long as it doesn't drastically change what they want to do on offense, well, we're seeing a lot of 12 and 13 personnel across the league, obviously. If they're not going to be able to pick up blitzes and pressure is going to be a consistent problem, then you're just going to have to camp Moe L.A. Cox and Drew Ogletree on the line of scrimage. And you're going to have to have them help, and you're going to have to just figure it out because your offense, with all the potential that it has,
Starting point is 00:15:14 it will not succeed. You won't be able to run. You won't be able to pass if you're just letting blitzes come through freely. If you're, I mean, the line has been pretty good man to man. But when they're throwing anyone extra out there, the peripheral blockers just really haven't been doing their job. And I make it sound like it's an extended problem, even though it's only been week one, because that has been a problem going back to the back half of last season. So if you need to do it, put Mo Alley Cox and Drew a little tree, just camp them on the line more often to help out because you have to have a functional offense with the threat of both the run and the pass. Like you can't just keep getting back because for those of you, I mean, we'll talk about it more here in a minute, but like if you watch the Chiefs game last night, the Chiefs brought it against Denver. And Denver's offensive line is pretty comparable to the Colts.
Starting point is 00:16:07 so like the chiefs are going to be able to get pressure if they don't handle it right. Yeah, I mean, I think the biggest thing, honestly, is just maybe they should have done their work to get a running back who could pass block. Maybe, you know. A big part, you know, like maybe that should have been what they prioritized in a depth running back. But who am I? That's only been an issue for multiple years. And I haven't even got to gripe about the DJ Giddens of it all with him being inactive. But that'll be for a difference.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Yeah, he's just a stash player in year two at this point. But anyway, one of the big changes I'd like to see, especially when you consider, again, we're going to talk about it in the final segment, but how much the Chiefs ran all over the Denver Broncos, maybe Hunter Wooller should play a defensive snap in this next game. One of your better tacklers, one of your better run fitters in the secondary, a guy who I thought he had a great preseason, looked like Nick Cross. And look, A.J. Halsey, I think he's got a bright future. I think he's going to be an impactful player for them. but when you're playing against the teens that want to run the football out of heavy personnel, maybe Hunter Woller should be in the game over Halsey, who he's a chaotic wrecking ball. He really is. Like he was like this in college, right, where, like, he makes some big plays.
Starting point is 00:17:16 But sometimes in the run game, he'd be a little overzealous and he'd overrun things, and the fits wouldn't be right. Get a player in there like Hunter Woller, who is a nice, secure tackler, who can get his nose where it needs to be, and he can fit against the run and be, again, like another knit cross in your defense. I just think getting Hunter Waller on the field on defense this week and needs to be a priority for the Indianapolis Colts. And again, I'm still a little bit salty. He was not in the game plan at all for last week.
Starting point is 00:17:42 I just don't understand how they went into the game with that. But I think that's a big one for me. I don't really have too many other huge ones. Is there another, I mean, Cam Taylor, Brett will be back this week. So probably getting him on the field a little bit more instead of Kenneth Harris. Maybe Justin Wallet can play a little bit more of outside reps on those dime situations instead of being stuck in those two. two-way goes with the nickel. You can get a more experienced player and Taylor Britt in there. But, you know, I don't really have any other, like, big sweeping changes because some of them,
Starting point is 00:18:10 like linebacker, for instance, like one, C.J. Allen's move is not going to happen this week. But two, I don't really know if there is a solution to that linebacker right now that is like this big upgrade. Maybe get Taj Chambers out there because he's a psycho. But besides that, like, I don't know if there's any other like sweeping giant changes that I would make. I've seen multiple people call for Jermaine Pratt. I just don't think. that's i don't think they're bringing in anyone new i've done it jokingly okay that was me oh i didn't see you do it i've just seen it multiple times elsewhere i'm mostly doing the oh he's talking to the green goblet mask whatever being like okay do it let's bring him in here but besides that i haven't done it
Starting point is 00:18:45 seriously you did have a good one on here though that i liked quite a bit so dion burke's getting some snaps on offense just to have the threat of stretching the field a little bit more adding some speed out there because keenan allen josh downs and i mean i Alec Pierce is still probably a little bit limited at this point. Dionne Berks, it's a burner. That's what he does. Like, he's not just a vertical guy. He can create after the catch.
Starting point is 00:19:10 But you put him out there that kind of adds a vertical element to your offense. Ashton Doolin as well can stretch defenses. So just try and incorporate something downfield beyond just Alec Pierce. I mean, Pierce looks like he could still do it. I mean, he had a couple good deep reps. Didn't ultimately come down with him last week, but, I mean, he can't be your only one that you're doing that way. Yeah, even if Pierce was limited in this last game, he was their best receiver by far in this past game. And he's going to be a big part of what they can do against Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:19:45 So I like having his speed out there. But yeah, more dueling, more burks, maybe a little bit less treadwell on offense, I think could be well, could work well for them in the passing game to add some speed out there. It's a good story, but it's not going to get them wins. Like, I love treadwell on special teams. Well, I'm fine with him out there occasionally alongside a Pierce, right? Where it's like, okay, you have your underneath guy who's a good blocker, and then you have your burner. But when he's out there alongside Keenan Allen and Josh Downs, we're kind of having a bunch of guys run into each other. Like there were happening a couple plays out there.
Starting point is 00:20:17 So, yeah, I would like to see some more speed on the field, I think, there. And I think they have some guys that they can get out there. And then one more final one, like Jerry Tillerie, man, let's see the inactive list. Please, please, Colts. I don't know how long you need to see this, but. I don't know. Dude, he was, I forget which play. I think it was the Derek Henry 30-yard touchdown run.
Starting point is 00:20:40 But within, like, within a second or second and a half into that play, Tilleri is doing the Tebow one-kney prayer thing. Like, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Oh, he's in the backfield. He's in the backfield on his knees, like with his head and his hands. And I'm like, oh, my God, here we go. Yeah, he's just not a good run defender. And we keep putting him out there in run defending situations.
Starting point is 00:21:04 But I digress. I don't want to make every show about him. Tim Smith, time. Yeah, hopefully next week's better for him. Coming up, we're going to talk about the Kansas City Chiefs. And if you thought coming into the year, the Chiefs were just going to be some awful team, well, they look to be at least back in some degree this year. So we'll talk about the Kansas City Chiefs here in just a moment.
Starting point is 00:21:25 There are certain flavors that instantly feel like summer. And summer is still very much hanging on. If you're here in Indy, it was, I think, 90 today. So it's still here. And for a lot of people, those classic red, white, and blue freezer pops are right at the top of that summer list. Sweet cherry, lime, blue raspberry. It's one of those nostalgic summer flavors that everybody recognizes. Now, five-hour energy is bringing that flavor combination into the new firework freeze five-hour energy shot,

Starting point is 00:22:22 And welcome to your most rewarding NFL season ever only on Fan Duel. How rewarding are we talking? More rewarding than a touchdown with time. expiring, more rewarding than an 18-point comeback and maybe even more rewarding than an offensive lineman catching a touchdown. This season, Fandul is making the excitement go beyond what happens on the field with all new Fandul Rewards Club featuring exclusive offer, surprises, and much more. Every week, check the Fandul app and see what's waiting for you. Last night, we talked about minus 110 odds for a Kenneth Walker anytime touchdown on Monday night
Starting point is 00:22:52 football. Well, it was closer to a Kenneth Walker every time touchdown in that game because every time he touched the ball, he was a threat to score. A touch. A toucher, With time expiring is tough to be. An 18-point comeback, even better. And if an offensive lineman catches that touchdown, I mean, that's pretty much the ultimate football reward. Starting point is 00:23:16 Alrighty, locked on Colts, everydayers. We are back talking about the Kansas City Chiefs and kind of briefly here before we focus on them a little bit more later in the week. And I know that there are some, I don't want to say, old takes exposed on squad shows that happened. in the last couple of days where it was like, yeah, the Chief's roster is not that great and stuff like that. And then they came out there and laid the beating down on Denver. I still think this Chief's roster is one of the weaker ones in the league, but they have maximized it to a degree
Starting point is 00:23:46 with a defense that plays fast and hard, which you could see last night. I mean, that defensive back core looked much better than anticipated, I think. And then they mitigated the loss of their left tackle by just running the ball under center like 40 times in that game. So I think, the things that really popped out to me, Jake. We'll start with the Chief's offense because I think our bigger concern right now is the Colts defense. So we'll talk about the Chief's offense a little bit. The Chiefs averaged 6.6 yards per carry in that game and 165 yards rushing on under-sender run calls in that. For proper context, the Colts allowed 5.3 and 143 yards respectively to the Ravens on such calls. And also, on top of that, the Chiefs were second and
Starting point is 00:24:28 most yards run after contact in week one with 190, the Ravens ranked third with 137 in their game against the Colts. So two things that were major issues for the Colts in week one, the Chiefs were even better against the Denver Broncos in both of those areas. So I think when you're talking about the biggest concerns for playing against the Kansas City Chiefs, aside from Pat Mahomes, I think that aspect with Kenneth Walker is the biggest concern. No, it was so evident that this is like this could be a really successful chiefs team but for completely different reasons than what we're used to uh they've never run the ball like this uh when pacheco was at his best anything good they've gotten out of Clyde Edwards all they're like they have not run the ball like
Starting point is 00:25:13 this with Patrick Mahomes the run blocking was good but Kenneth Walker is a horse to take down and he created a bunch of his own yards uh just a physical but elusive runner uh he's got the speed he had that really long touchdown as well like this is pretty worrisome i would i would dare say he's probably a bigger threat than derrick henry was last week uh walker is fresher and more explosive he is also physical and will run through arm tackles as well uh so i have great concern about the colt's ability to defend the run in this one um good thing louisnerumo said basically everything is on the table for them to reevaluate because because if they're taking a real genuine look in the mirror,
Starting point is 00:26:00 there are personnel they've got out there on the field that are not, they're not defending the run well. And they, even if like there are guys who are lesser football players behind them, but are if they're better run defenders, they're going to need to play in this game. Yeah. No, I mean,
Starting point is 00:26:17 I think that two guys I'm really circling are like, hey, Bryce Betcher and AJ Halsey, we love you guys. I think there's a bright future with you guys. We can't have the miss tackle. in this game. And if you can't get that under control going into this one, let's get some other guy. Tosh Chambers won't miss a tackle. He'll throw his helmet at a guy probably, but he won't miss a tackle. Hunter Woller won't miss those tackles. So maybe get those guys involved a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Because this is more of a briefer segment, let's go to the defense a little bit here, Jake, because the Chief's defense was an issue for the Colts last year with how they brought a lot of pressure against Daniel Jones. And last night, they had a lot of success against the Denver Broncos, but they actually didn't blitz that much. Only a 27% blitz rate, which is actually much lower than what the Ravens had against the Colts, and even much lower than what the Colts had against the Ravens, where both those teams were hovering around 40%.
Starting point is 00:27:06 But despite that, the Chiefs ranked top three in pressure rate against Denver's very, very good offensive line. 48.5% pressure rate in that game. Now, part of that was Bo Nix was running around with a chicken, like a chicken with his head cut off. For the majority of the game, he looked terrified for his life, all game long, so I think that was part of it. But Spaggs really had that offense confused. And kind of like what you mentioned here is like even if they're not bringing a blitz, so to speak,
Starting point is 00:27:34 like they're not bringing five or more rushers on some of them, they get creative where they bring a corner off the edge and they drop the backside defender. They bring four guys, but it's different four guys than what you expect. So these sim pressures can can really have the same impact as a blitz. So Spagnola is going to give a lot of different looks to the Colts this week. They're going to test them with blitzing. They're going to put pressure on the running back and past protection. And I think that's another one of those terrifying aspect of this matchup for the Colts. Yeah, like right off the bat, they had Noel Williams Blitz and he got home to Bo Nix. Like right away, I was like, oh, my God, this is exactly what the Colts need to not have happened
Starting point is 00:28:10 to them. So, yeah, it's, they did just fine with their four-man rush, but when they sent pressure, like, Bo Nix did not look good in this game. He looked very sure. shaken. I think the Broncos overall looked just, it wasn't what the chiefs forced them into. I just didn't think this was a good game from Denver in general. But I do think Bo Nix was forced into a bad game by what the chiefs were doing, both in coverage and the pressure they were constantly sending at him. So, yeah, that's, other than the run game, I think just the Colts issues with picking up blitzes and not being able to contain free rushers has been a problem and it will be a problem in this one too if they don't have a decent game plan ready for it
Starting point is 00:28:59 because it's it's just weird because they don't have like george carloftus isn't a star chris jones isn't in his prime anymore like our mason thomas i thought had a decent game but like he's he's a rookie like they don't have star pass rushers right now but just what spagnollo is dialing up is working um and i mean this is another night game for them they get up for those like it's definitely something worth worrying about. Yeah, I mean, to end this on a positive note, though, comparing like the Chiefs to the Ravens, I thought the Chief's ability to marry the pass and the run game
Starting point is 00:29:35 was a lot more disjointed, what the Ravens did against the Colts, where the Ravens were able to do under-center stuff, pistol stuff, shotgun stuff, and they were able to run out of those same exact looks to a lot of success, where the Chiefs, it was basically under-center, run well, shotgun. That's the only way we can really throw the ball. And they were exotic with it early because they did some pistol and shotgun stuff too. And then after that, when they realized it was working, it was just hammer the under center.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Right. But they couldn't really throw from under center at all. All their passing was from shotgun and it just wasn't very effective. They had a lot of incomplete passes. And then defensively, I guess the only positive I can say is, hey, there's no Kyle Hamilton this week. I think that's a great thing for the Colts. So regardless of how well Noel Williams played and Noel Williams looked awesome, was one of my favorite draft players in that draft.
Starting point is 00:30:24 I think he was one of my like gems of the draft or something in the draft guide. Loved him. You know, he's good, but he's no Kyle Hamilton. So I think those are the positive you can look at for the manseur Delane is going to be out a little while too. He hurt his shoulder on that interception. Yep, yep. So that is what we have.
Starting point is 00:30:41 We'll talk more about this Chiefs matchup going forward, but lots of talk about, obviously, this rest of the week.
