You are lockeded On Colts, your daily Indianapolis Colts podcast.
Part of the Locked On Podcast Network, your team every day.
Welcome back to Locked On Colts, ladies and gentlemen. I am your host, Matt Dainley.
And what we just witnessed Monday night was a complete and total whooping of the Jets by our Indianapolis Colts.
That was priceless almost to see.
Nice to see the Colts come out hot, stay hot, and just completely pound an absolutely awful Jets team.
You know, a lot of people can say, well, it was the Jets and they're pretty bad.
You're right. But this is also the Colts and the Colts have a real problem with cutting the throat
of bad teams even. So the Colts did it, completely plastered them 41 to 10. And there just really
isn't much more to say about this game, but we will go through it from front to back, and we'll talk about this
most definitely because this was a fantastic showing by the Colts, and it's something that
we don't get the opportunity to do very often, especially a 31-point win. So first, I mean,
we got to talk about Dwayne Allen. Great game from Dwayne Allen. And as you've heard me talk about it in the past, most importantly,
they didn't force him into the game plan.
Although I think his third touchdown was a bit of a forced pass.
It was a fantastic catch, fantastic tracking the ball by him,
kind of a lucky pass, so to speak.
I mean, perfect pass over the shoulder and over the head of the defender,
but just one of those that, you know, three, four inches in one direction or the other,
and it's batted down. But all in all, they didn't force Allen into the game plan,
and he had a fantastic game. Had four catches for 72 yards, had three touchdowns already. I mean,
and he had two of them in the first two drives for the Colts, and that Jets secondary looked absolutely pathetic. You know, I was thinking about it as the
second touchdown was thrown to Allen, and I thought, you know, and I, in fact, I even tweeted
this because it just rang so true to me that the Colts, if they looked anything like the Jets did
on those first two drives, even though it was only 14-0, every single Colts fan would have said that Pagano had lost the Colts locker room.
I'm kind of surprised I didn't hear any mumblings about that on the broadcast.
I'm not on Jets Twitter or anything like that, but I would assume that a lot of Jets fans would probably say something like
that. Although Todd Bowles is a fantastic coach. Man, these guys, this Jets team was awful and
looked terrible and looked like they did not care at all. I mean, with their record, maybe they
don't care very much, but that, I mean, big money guys on that front seven and they just all looked
very ordinary and in fact bad. I mean, they looked very Browns-like, very Jaguars-like,
you know, just awful. So it was nice to see that Andrew Luck was just absolutely carving up a
defense that he should have carved up.
There was some pressure there at times, like on the Colts' third drive and stuff like that.
But all in all, the offensive line did a pretty decent job of protecting Andrew Luck.
Colts' D looked pretty good early.
They looked pretty good throughout the game, I think.
But, I mean, it's hard to kind of tell whether they looked good or whether the Fitzpatrick and Petty are just that awful. Probably a combination of the two, and I'm okay with that. But one thing's for sure,
this game gave some momentum to both offense and defense. And like I said, we'll go through this
a little bit. We saw some good play from Hassan Ridgway, getting some good movement inside,
getting some pressure in the backfield. Edwin Jackson doing his thing.
He had six total tackles, had a tackle for loss on Matt Forte.
There was a play there where Muhort got a holding penalty.
There I think it was maybe the fourth drive for the Colts,
and it kind of looked like, oh, here we go.
He was a little lazy in his protection, didn't move his feet, got a holding call,
was hanging all over the defender.
And just that, and then there was a luck delay of game.
And then the Colts run on second and 32, and then again on third and 25, and choose to settle for playing field position.
And it was kind of surprising for me that they went that route and didn't even attempt to get a little bit closer and maybe attempt to kick a field goal.
But they certainly did not.
So, you know, on the first two drives for the Colts, they had a total of 120 yards on their first two drives in 11 plays and got 14 points.
Their next two drives were 13 plays, total combined 73 yards.
And you combine that with the pressure that they were
allowing very little room for gore to run penalties and they only got three points out of those those
two drives now let me drop in here real quick tell you guys about the best app on your phone if you

Trent Cole did okay today coming back.
You know, his first game back did pretty decent,
got some pressure and a quarterback hit on a third down play.
Gore ran pretty well.
Gore ended up with 20 carries for 79 yards.
I was kind of surprised that they didn't let him play any further.
You know, not a bad deal, though.
I mean, when you come off of a game on a Thursday, your next game's on a Monday and you've got that
much time to kind of, you know, recoup a little bit, probably a smart play to get him out of the
game. You know, you want a guy like that who's going to be getting pounded a lot, especially
this next coming week up against Houston,
that you want him to have fresh legs as much as possible,
especially now in a short week.
Luck was fantastic.
I mean, Luck could not have probably had a better game.
22 of 28 for 278, four scores, almost 10 yards per pass,
and he was only sacked one time.
He got hit a few times,
but you know, one sack in the game. And, uh, I think that Colts fans are pretty happy with that.
He did have to scramble a few times. He ended up scrambling three times for 26 yards.
And we saw a touchdown from Robert Turbin and, you know, we, we saw a couple of runs from,
uh, Jordan Todman as well. He didn't do so hot even against this, uh, you know we we saw a couple runs from uh Jordan Todman as well he didn't do so hot even
against this uh you know a dejected Jets front almost at that point so I was kind of surprised
about that but you know uh Darius Butler had an interception Daryl Morris had an interception
Mike Adams had an interception I mean they had three total interceptions on the season
and doubled it tonight.
But then again, you've got Bryce Petty or Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing the ball,
and Fitzpatrick's been awful this season,
and Bryce Petty learns his defensive coverage is off a Madden.
So, I mean, it was nice to see,
but we've finally kind of slit the
throat, so to speak, of replacement level quarterbacks. So that was nice to see. Good to
see them, you know, kind of stand on their throat a little bit. And I know that sounds a little gory,
but it was nice to see for sure. Colts, you know, tried to go for the kill. Lux pass came out
wobbly. He under threw Dorsett got a
pass interference call there was another one where the Colts could have gone up big even further and
the pass to Doyle where he got all the way down to basically the one foot line dove for the pylon
lost the ball about a foot short of the end zone and end up being a touchback out of it and you
know that would have been if he had gotten touchdown, that would have been 31 points in the first half. So,
luck was fantastic. 15 of 18, 193 and three scores in the first half. And, you know,
Hilton was fantastic as well. I mean, he caught everything that was thrown his way.
He had 10 targets, nine catches for 146 yards. Didn't have
any touchdowns, but he was perfect. I mean, all game. It was nice to see very few drops today.
We had a couple on third down conversions, but I mean, by and large, the Colts were really good
in that respect. I mean, they were seven of 13, but you can take at least three of those out
because they were in that crap in the fourth quarter
where they just went ahead and ran the ball on third and whatever was there.
They were 7 of 10 at one point.
Even kicking back to after the Colts' first drive of the second half,
the Colts were 5 of 7 on third down at that point.
They ended up at one point later in the game after that TY drop on third down at that point. And they ended up at one point later in the game after
that TY drop on third down, the Colts were seven of 10 and the Jets were only one of seven at that
point. The Jets ended up three of 11. So that's really nice for this Colts defense. Like I said,
you can say all the things you want about how bad the Jets quarterbacks were,
but the good thing about it is that we saw the Colts defense getting
some momentum and getting a little bit of a push as they head in to the final four games of the
season. Now the Colts had 27 first downs. The Jets had 12. I mean, that's a complete disparity
right there. The Colts actually had 18 more plays than the Jets. The Colts ended up at
six yards per play. But that, like I said, that stuff in the fourth quarter, you know, really
brought a lot of their fantastic statistics down. I mean, the Colts at one time were at like almost
eight yards per play. So, I mean, you know, the Colts really did their deal tonight. They absolutely punched the Jets in the face, completely shot them down.
I mean, there was just so many good things that came out of this game.
You know, another, in fact, another play that could have gone for a score was a quick slant to Moncrief.
Rivas barely got his fingertips on it, just enough to knock the ball down.
That would have been an even more, you know, a bigger score. If we look at something that was kind of negative, I guess we could say that the Colts
didn't get a whole lot of pressure on the Jets, even though the Jets were so defeated for the
majority of this game. They only got one sack and just a couple of quarterback hits at most. So it really wasn't a great overall performance. If you look
defensively, when they really had opportunities to do something, they just really didn't come
through. But to the Jets' credit, they have a pretty solid offensive line. For the most part,
they did their job. The quarterbacks got the ball out early. They weren't very effective, but they did get the ball out early.
So the Colts just completely pound the Jets 41-10.
They've got four games left now.
They have a huge game this Sunday against the Texans where they're all three,
the Texans, Titans, and Colts are tied atop the AFC South with a 6-6.
Now, I did touch on the tiebreakers and stuff on yesterday's show,
and basically the Texans have a win against the Colts right now. So the Colts obviously have
beaten the Titans twice. The Colts would be up on the Titans. So it still technically is Texans,
Colts, Titans. I'm not real sure who's won the games
with the Titans and Texans between them but at the moment that's the way I figure it whether
that's absolutely correct or not but they are tied at six and six the Colts have not the easiest
schedule the Texans technically do but the Texans are a terrible team you know they're not beating
anybody they're not scaring anybody and the Colts are coming off team. You know, they're not beating anybody. They're not scaring anybody.
And the Colts are coming off their best game of the year by far and their best performance.
They're just clean performance, putting points on the board,
getting takeaways, keeping their running game to a minimum.
You know, and granted, the Jets threw the ball like crazy in the second half,
but they had to. So, I mean, even if you look at it realistically, the Jets running game ran for a
total of 36 yards on 14 carries. So that was, I mean, amazing for the Colts right there. And they
didn't run very much. Forte only had nine carries, but you look at that, even that late touchdown to Robbie Anderson,
this could have been a 41-3 final score. I was excited because watching the Colts just
decimate the Jets like this, I thought 31-13 might be a little big, a little presumptive when I had my prediction on yesterday's show.
But then, you know, as it went on, I just kind of thought, well, they may get that,
and then they'll have some garbage time scores or something like that and close the gap.
But the Colts were on their P's and Q's on Monday Night Football.
Nice to see them do that in primetime.
Nice to see the Colts really get a big win under their belt when they need it. Andrew Luck looked fantastic. It's a big win without Clayton Gethers, Robert Mathis,
and so the Colts now have an opportunity to get those guys back and hopefully get them healthy,
and then the Colts can come out and hopefully have even a better game next week or this Sunday.
If they can get that done, the Colts will have a
huge opportunity to really take the stranglehold on the division. And this year, that's quite a
feat considering where they've come from and where they started. So, you know, outside of touching on
Dwayne Allen having a good game, it was really nice to see that the Colts utilized their tight ends the way they did.
They had 10 catches amongst their tight ends and only on 11 targets.
So, I mean, that's a great group of tight ends right there,
getting some much-needed momentum as well.
And, you know, we're continuing to see the Colts' offense evolve a little bit
and see the inner workings of Chudzinski inside of his head.
And it's very interesting to see the packages that he puts together, who he's got in motion,
who's in the backfield, especially with these tight ends.
Moncrief had a good game tonight as well.
I think he did a really good job of moving everybody around.
I think that was something that was needed.
You know, you can't be so predictable where you line up,
what personnel you've got on the field.
And not only that, but, I mean, just T.Y. Hilton just used and abused
and toyed with Buster's screen tonight, and basically anybody, including Revis.
Man, I tell you, if anybody here thinks that the Colts fan base is touchy,
then if you watch this game on Monday night,
then you guys were thinking the same thing about the Jets fan base
and probably twice as bad.
I mean, if you listen to the announcers,
they were talking how half the
stadium was empty at halftime. People didn't come back. I just can't understand that,
spending money on a game, even if it's that bad. At least go get good seats, you know what I mean?
And watch a little bit closer, at least. I mean, you've already made plans to go to the game. You
might as well stay, if nothing else. So Colts absolutely destroy the Jets. Nice to see that.
41-10. Big game. Big, big game for the Colts. They're going to have another game where I think
they could have a similar fortune. You know, they were blowing out the Texans in their first
go-round, and then the Texans came back. It all started with that
Lamar Miller shake and bake where he ran through about nine Colts defenders over a 10-yard span
just to get into the end zone, and then the downhill slope started there. The Colts definitely
have a similar team. They have a far better offense than the Texans know their defense obviously isn't quite as good as the texans is but the
texans defense is not uh as good versus andrew luck as the colts defense could be versus brock
osweiler that makes sense if you take the two and you compare the two against uh skill sets i think
that the colts have the advantage defensively in that regard so So we will have to see, but this is a good feeling,
Colts fans. I hope you guys liked it. I hope you guys enjoyed watching it. I know I did,
sitting out in the front room, watching it, having the Christmas tree lights shine in,
drinking a cup of coffee, watching my Colts just tear into the New York Jets and watching their
team just fall apart at the seams.
We don't get that opportunity very often, and it was nice to see that on Monday night.
