Locked On Penguins - Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Penguins - Arturs Silovs STRUGGLES in Penguins 2nd preseason game

Episode Date: September 23, 2026

The Penguins dropped their second preseason game 7-4 to the Detroit Red Wings, and the play in net was not encouraging. Hunter and Patrick begin the Wednesday edition by talking about goaltender Artur...s Silovs’s forgettable night. (1:10) While it is preseason and he didn’t have a full NHL defense in front of him, some of his issues are the same ones he’s been struggling with for a while. So, is it time to worry, or was he just knocking off the rust? Then, despite the loss on Tuesday night, there were plenty of positives to take away from the game. (14:00) The Ruck Twins were solid in their debut, two of the Penguins’ new defensemen had big nights, and much more. Finally, camp is already winding down; they look at the remaining schedule and when they think some cuts will happen. Starting point is 00:01:09 A bit later on in the show, Pat and I are going to discuss what's left of camp in the preseason. Just catch you all up on the schedule for the rest of the week going into next week, which of course the regular season starts a week from today in Philadelphia against the flyers. But Pat, we have to start here recapping the 7 to 4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, excuse me. We will get to the positives because there were some solid positives to come from this game. but we got to start with the negative. And Artie Shilovs, my man, that was not a good effort to say the least.
Starting point is 00:01:40 And I understand the defense was not very good, especially in front of the net. And granted, the bottom two pairs, you know, they're going to look a lot different. Let's just say that when the regular season starts next Wednesday. So Pat and I are going to come on here and overreact or anything. TVR didn't play. Chris LaTang didn't play. Eric Carlson didn't play either. Hasn't played.
Starting point is 00:02:02 the entirety of the preseason, though that's probably going to change either on Thursday or Saturday. But even with the bad defensive play, did not like Artie Shilov's game whatsoever. Two pedestrian, seven goals on 23 shots. And there were a couple where I was like, okay, maybe he couldn't have done much there. But for the majority of them, Pat, they really weren't grade A chances in my book. And he just flat out whiffed and his rebound control was really bad. And it's only preseason. I get that.
Starting point is 00:02:31 but not a good start from him in the slightest. Right. I was saying it to you before we hit record. The last two goals that the Red Wings scored, I can't put on his shoulders. The seventh goal deflected off of like eight different things on its way to the net. He tried to guess where the deflection was going. Didn't guess that happens.
Starting point is 00:02:53 That's what happens on deflection goals. The sixth goal, Igor Chinochinov just decided that nothing on the ice mattered, except wherever the puck was. He said, he said, I'm done. I'm done with this game. Yeah. And he just completely lost a man, which led to that goal. But you hit on a couple of things there that I do think have to be discussed about
Starting point is 00:03:16 She-Lovs tonight or last night, depending upon when you're listening to this, is that the rebound control is still an issue. There were a lot of very juicy rebounds for Detroit shooters. There were a couple of goals that were direct results of poor rebound control. And two things can be true at once, like you said. Yes, the net front defense was not that great. And we will talk about it in the second segment. I do think there were a lot of positives from the penguin's defense overall.
Starting point is 00:03:51 But one of them in this game was not the net front defense. It was pretty bad, all things considered. They lost a lot of people in front. They didn't cover guys correctly, and that led to a tough night for Arter Shilovs. But then there's the other other side of that. You are allowed to make a save. And granted, again, it is preseason. I'm not going to overreact to it.
Starting point is 00:04:18 But these are some of the issues that have cropped up with Archer Shilovs throughout his career. His inconsistencies, his inability to control rebounds, So it's a little bit worrisome, but we also do have to keep in mind that this defense in front of him in a week from tonight is going to be vastly different. Right. I already said TVR is going to be in the lineup. Crystal Tang is going to be there. Eric Carlson, we all know, is going to be there. He just hasn't played in the preseason yet.
Starting point is 00:04:53 I would have, it would have been cool to see him with Declan Carlisle. Maybe he would have had Declan Carlisle keep his cool a little bit later on. the game from the opening puck drop pad he was just ready to go with literally anyone and i tweeted this as well after he got in the scuffle with cuddled we can just spend a couple minutes on this before we're getting back to she loves you know i think he's going to become a fan favorite pretty quickly if he keeps doing this throughout the season i did appreciate him stepping in there like that and saying to that young kid hey you don't mess with one of the greatest players of all time for sure I said it to you in a text.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I think the whole code thing is mostly outdated, very caveman brain. But there are parts of it that are still extremely valid, and that's one of them. I get its preseason. I get that this 22-year-old Johanson is trying to make a name for himself, especially with how tumultuous things have been in Detroit. You want to look like you can be part of the solution with everything that's been going on with them. but there's 15 or 16 other players wearing penguins jerseys that you can start taking pokes at and start trying to rile up.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Sidney Crosby isn't one of them. So I do appreciate the fact that Carlisle jumped right in there and basically put the message out to Johansson. And as he was getting escorted back to his bench, the rest of the Red Wings bench, basically saying any of you touch Sid, I'm coming after you. And we know Sid doesn't need protection. We know Sid is not a shrinking violent. He will step up.
Starting point is 00:06:30 He will defend himself. He will play physical. But it is always nice to know that for the group, for the unit, that there are players who are going to step in and kind of push 87 to the side and say, hey, hey, you don't need to do this. We can do it. Right. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:06:50 And even like after that whole first situation, Sid was just feisty. game. You wouldn't know it was a preseason game by the way he was acting. He was really fired up about a whole bunch of plays that happened later on in the game. A couple of them happened to him, but for other Penguins teammates as well. For example, that neon knee play with Raquel and that Red Wings player. I do not like that type of hit at all. I just, I don't care that's preseason man. I cringe every time I see it just, ugh. I get your point and I agree with it that anytime I see a knee to knee, it's, it's cringe-inducing just because of how dangerous it is.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Yeah. If there is one thing I will say about this game as a whole and it applies to both the penguins and the red wings, this is a sloppy hockey game. And seeing that need to knee with Raquel, much like the stuff with Carlisle and Johansson, I appreciate the fact that a bunch of guys were willing to step up and make a guy answer for that. But I also looked at a lot of this game and I looked at that hit and went, it's just a game where these guys are not in sync.
Starting point is 00:07:55 They're not at their best. And that didn't feel like a vicious or ill-intent kind of knee-to-kney. It wasn't a player throwing a cheap shot. It was a guy who tried to line up a hit, didn't line it up right, kind of got walked, and just stuck his knee out instinctively rather than with the intent to injure. Because that was the other thing that I was going to say when you brought up this stuff with Sid. This was a weirdly sloppy and weirdly aggressive game for all involved.
Starting point is 00:08:29 And as a hockey fan enjoyed that for preseason because usually preseason is like watching paint dry. But this was a game where both of these teams for some reason were fired the hell up. And you know what? For preseason game number two in a shortened preseason, it seems like mostly everybody got out of this one healthy. I'll take that. Honestly, like,
Starting point is 00:08:54 low-key reminded me, have you seen, like, some of those, like, past Panthers Lightning preseason games where they just, like, all take runs at one another. They just rack up the penalties
Starting point is 00:09:02 just because they hate each other. It almost felt like a very, very low-key version of that at times where players were just, like, taking runs at each other, and they were just not carrying. I kind of get it from both teams' perspectives. I mean,
Starting point is 00:09:16 the guys at the top of the lineup for the penguins and the same for the Red Wings, there were probably six, seven, maybe eight players on both sides that you know for sure are going to be on the opening night roster for both teams. But it was a lot of guys on both sides for the most part that are fringe players. So they were out there trying to make a name for themselves. And when you're only playing four preseason games, we've been saying it all week. The time to make a name for yourself and the time to make an impression is right now.
Starting point is 00:09:49 and there is not much time to do it. So you have to figure a lot of these fringe roster players all across the NHL this preseason are fired up and they're going to do a lot more than you would usually see in a preseason game. Yeah. And I think the roster for Thursday's game, you're going to see a lot more of those fringe players for the penguins in that game. We've talked a lot about how Saturday we think is going to be the dress rehearsal. You'll probably see some of the fringe players there kind of a bit too. But Thursday, I think you're definitely going to see.
Starting point is 00:10:19 that. And just real quick again on Gilles, before we get to the second segment and talk more about the defenseman that we thought played well, so like Cating Corsack, for example. Again, very much preseason, but did not like the rebound control. I don't think he was tracking the puck very well, either. And again, the poor defense does not help, but I feel like he could have saved a lot of those changes. It didn't look like the player that I saw in the Stanley Cup playoffs, especially in game six. And I understand he had a very up and down regular season. season played some of the games of his life in the playoffs. You and I talked a lot about how we want him to be more consistent.
Starting point is 00:10:57 That's what we, we really, really want that when the regular season starts. And was part of this maybe him getting the rust off, maybe a little bit, but you still got to be better. Even if it's just preseason, we're not here overreacting. We just, we want to see better because I feel like a lot of those goals that he gave up were goals that I think he could have had, to be honest. I want to see what he does. when the regular season begins.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Yeah. Because I can absolutely hear the argument that he's shaking the rust off after the off season. And again, you look at the defense in front of them and a lot of the roster in front of them as well. A lot of guys who aren't going to be in the NHL this year. So I'm not going to overreact to it. I'll give him a pass. But there are some things to be concerned about, I will say. But he's got plenty of time to write that ship.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Yeah, things to be a little concerned about keep tabs on, I think is a good way to say it as well. So we'll see at the end of the day. I want to see, you know, how he does when the regular season starts. I've gotten some tweets from people saying, like, oh, you've got to waive him. He's not going to make the team. Guys, it's not ever react here. He's going to be on the team. And I do think he is going to start opening night unless they want to give that to one of
Starting point is 00:12:14 Sargaymer Rushav Ryu-U ablmquist. But as of still right now, I think they are going to give him the start against Philly next Wednesday, and he is going to play quite a few games for the Penguins this year. But that's going to do it for our first segment. Coming up in the second segment, Pat and I are going to discuss some of the defensemen that we thought played well during the game as well as the Ruck Twins because they played pretty well as well. That's coming up right after this.
Starting point is 00:12:41 But before we get to that, we have to tell you all about one of our sponsors, which is Odu. Running a business should not feel like you're trying to connect a bunch of systems that were never designed to work together. One app for accounting, another for inventory. another for sales, and somehow none of them talk to each other. That's where Odu comes in. Odu is an all-in-one business management software that brings every part of your business together in one powerful platform from sales and accounting to inventory and marketing.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Everything works in one place. Odu is one platform to manage, grow, and skill your business. The best organizations know that success is not just about talent. It's about having everyone work towards that same goal, and that's true in sports, just like it is in business. We can talk about the E. Gorsenikov trade all everyone was working towards the same goal. Same thing with the Nick Robertson trade this past off season in early July.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Everyone in the Penguins front office coaching staff, scouting staff, analytic staff working towards that same goal with these players. Great organizations win because operations matter. And that's why you should get Odu. Odo is one platform to manage, grow, and scale your business. Try for free today at Odo.com slash locked on. That's OD-O-O-O-com slash locked-on. All right, we're back here on the Wednesday edition of the Locked-on Penguins podcast.
Starting point is 00:13:59 I'm one of your host, Hunter Hodes, joined by my host, Patrick Damp, and the defenseman tonight, I thought Caden Corsack played a really, really sound game. That goal that he scored, what a rocket of a shot, by the way. We all know how good he is defensively, and that's been pretty apparent during his time in Vegas. You watch the games, you look at the underlying numbers, very good defensively. He's got a bit of a cannon. I want to see him use that a little bit more during the regular season. and I thought he played well.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Sam Gerard, a little bit up and down at times during the game, but the play that he made on Ricard, Raquel's goal, excuse me, pat that pass, thing of beauty. So I wanted to shout out those two,
Starting point is 00:14:37 at least to start. That play, especially by Gerard, was really nice. I liked both their games quite a bit, and I said it in the first segment. I do think outside of the net front defense, this was not a bad game at all for the Penguins' defense.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Now, not having good net front defense is, kind of a pretty big black mark because that's the most important place to play defense. But yeah, the the Gerard pass to the past shot, I guess you could say to Raquel was really nice through a lot of traffic, had his head up the whole way, put a lot on it, really set Raquel up for success on that one. Corsack, I liked his overall game. I thought the goal was a nice little cherry on top, but he was physical.
Starting point is 00:15:23 he was in the right places at the right time, seemed to own the puck. Love that for him. And we already talked about Carlisle. I liked his aggression. Yeah. I liked his physicality. And we know that the way the NHL is trending,
Starting point is 00:15:40 you're going to need that. You're going to need some guy who's not afraid to get into the muck, a guy who's not afraid to play a hard-nosed kind of game, especially on the back end. So if they can get that from him this season, and I think you're dead on, Hunter, that he's going to be a fan favorite right from the jump. And for the sickos like us who watched this game tonight, this was his first shot to really show people. This guy wants to be here and this guy is going to play with a lot of pride.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Yeah, and I felt later on in the game, when they gave them the two and the extra two and the misconduct, I'm fine with the first four. Don't really see the need for a misconduct there, Pat. I felt that was a little too. I understand he was fired up. He went after that player pretty aggressively. But I don't think what he did warranted attend there. I just felt the ref went a little too far with that.
Starting point is 00:16:34 I think that was more the officials just kind of saying, hey, man, you've been in this stuff all night. Like, just go cool off for a bit. Like, I get that people think it was excessive, but I think that was more. The refs looked at it and said, he's going to need a little bit more than a four minute timeout. He's been hot all night. So, yeah, it's a bit excessive, but I also kind of get it. Yeah, I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:17:01 I just felt like, I was like, did you really need to add on the 10 there? I think the four is good. I don't think he really warranted 14 penalty minutes there. But again, I digress. Outside of those three, Tommy Galvis tonight, bit rougher in the net front. But again, I'm not surprised. And nobody really should be surprised. Did he light of the prospect tournament?
Starting point is 00:17:23 Yes. and that's all fine and dandy. But he's been quiet at camp, had a very quiet night tonight. These are the growing pains you expect from someone who is 20 years old when undrafted a couple times. You got him in the second round.
Starting point is 00:17:36 He definitely has a good amount of talent and we've seen him do it in games, but it's very obvious he's on itch already. He's going to go back to Chekia. He'll work on his game there. He'll come back to Wilkesbury at the end of the year, and I think he'll show up a bigger and a better player. So there's nothing really wrong with that overall.
Starting point is 00:17:57 So just my thoughts on Tommy Galvis tonight. Yeah, it was a little rough for him. I think he was kind of the one defenseman tonight that probably wasn't. If you rank him one to six, he was probably easily sixth out of all the defensemen that played against Detroit. And he, you could kind of see that he was adjusting to the way the game has played. in North America, especially on one of the goals where he tied up the guy kind of from his waist and didn't get his stick. And at a level like the NHL, you're, you got to go for the stick in that, in that instance off the rebound because shooters at this level, shooters at this level of
Starting point is 00:18:45 strength, they're going to be able to get their stick down. They're going to be able to pop in that rebound and that'll come with time that'll come with experience so you said you know he he lit up the prospect tournament he should as a 20 year old that has played professionally in check you for a couple of years that should be a place where he feasts and he did now you go to the next level you play in the nchl preseason you get that idea you get that taste of what you got to work on you get that firsthand experience of what you're good at what you struggle with And this is a player who has a lot of talent. He has really good foot speed.
Starting point is 00:19:26 He's got really good vision. You give him another year of pro hockey and check you bring him over at the end of the year to play with the baby penguins. And you got something here. Yeah. And I think that's probably, he's probably going to get sent back to Chechkeya. If I had to guess by the start of the weekend, maybe by the end. But I just think based on what he did three days of camp.
Starting point is 00:19:49 based on tonight. I think you can get him over there a little bit early, get him more reacclimated with his teammates over there. He's not ready, and that's fine. I think there is going to come a point when he is ready. It's just not right now, and that's that on that. Outside of him, want to shout out Nick Robertson for his goal tonight, Pat just blistering speed, short-handed, by the way.
Starting point is 00:20:12 This is a player who literally played only seven minutes on the PK last year. He does not have many minutes on the penalty kill. He hasn't even played 15. combined minutes on the PK during his fear. Dan U. said, the hell of that, I'm going to use him a little bit on the PK tonight. Looked like a pretty decent fit,
Starting point is 00:20:27 at least towards the end of it, and had a really nice goal there. Goes right around the Red Wings Defender. Beautiful goal past John Gibson. He's been electric during camp. Carry that over into tonight. Really nice job, and then real quickly, before we head to the final segment,
Starting point is 00:20:40 and I'll get your thoughts on this too. Thought the Ruck twins were really good tonight, too. Liam Ruck, a couple of assists. I liked the McGrody goal at the end. Gordy felt he was a bit pedestrian tonight. Really needed that goal at the end, though. And yeah, I know. People will say it's garbage time, it's garbage time.
Starting point is 00:20:58 But he still needed it, especially since I don't think he was one of like the top positive players from this game. But it was nice to see him get it. Liam Ruck to Marcus, to Rucker, really nice pass. Which is nice passing play by all three there. And they're able to get on the score sheet a bit later. So those are my main thoughts on Marcus and Liam. I'm excited to see what they can do. in Medicine Hat this year
Starting point is 00:21:21 and then Nick Robertson doing Nick Roberts and things. Pat, I give it to you. McGority. McGority needed the confidence boost. He didn't have the greatest the games, but he has been having a solid camp. So getting on the board, I think, is a net positive for him. I know, pretty obvious statement.
Starting point is 00:21:38 But it's one of those moments and one of those things that can keep the wind in his sales, so to speak, through the rest of camp. for the Ruck Twins, listen, they're not breaking camp. They're going back to junior. Then they're going to go to college the year after that. But I will say this much. In an NHL preseason game against a roster that much like the Penguins was a solid mix of
Starting point is 00:22:04 NHL regulars, prospects, and fringe players, they did not look out of place. They did not look like they don't belong. But they're still going to need a lot of development and a lot of of seasoning, but as far as this game against the Red Wings go, they were pretty darn good, and I'm really excited for their future. As for Robertson, I mean, we wanted to see that this line that has been working in camp together of Crosby, Raquel, and Robertson was able to do it in a game setting. I would go as far as to say they did. Yes, Robertson's goal was short-handed, so it wasn't the full line. But a lot of the time when that line was on the ice, they were they were putting up
Starting point is 00:22:51 pressure on the red wings. They were getting chances. And Robertson, I don't feel uncomfortable saying this. He was one of the best players on the ice for the majority of the game. And if he wants to continue to be on the penguin's top line with Sidney Crosby, this is the kind of stuff that he needs to do. And I thought he was genuinely one of the better players on both teams all night long. And that is a really, really encouraging sign for him. Yeah. And, you know, the more that I watched him tonight, the more than I watched that line, the more, you know, my confidence increased a bit that this is going to be the top line when the season starts next Wednesday. A whole bunch can change over the next week. But my confidence continues to increase that that is going to be the penguin's top line in
Starting point is 00:23:39 Philly and at least to maybe start the season, you know, against Montreal and the home opener and maybe a little bit further into the season as well. But Pat, unless you have anything else to add about this game, I think that's going to do it for the second segment. Coming up to end the show, we're going to discuss what's left at training camp and the preseason. Kind of just do like a refresher of the schedule going forward for the rest of the week and all that, and that's coming up right after this. But before we get to that, we have to talk to you all about our next sponsor, which is Kalshi. The buck is about to drop on our new. win each all season, who makes the playoffs, who wins their division, and who has what it takes
Starting point is 00:24:17 to win the Stanley Cup. On Calci, America's number one prediction market platform, you can trade those predictions in a live market. For example, the Colorado Avalanche, they are trading at 12% to win the Stanley Cup, meaning a $100 payout to, excuse me, a $100 trade pays out to a $784.99 if they win the Stanley Cup. Now, if you want to think about the Eastern Conference Final for the Ford Panthers, they are trading at 20%, meaning a $100 trade, pays out $437.45 if they win the Eastern Conference on
Starting point is 00:24:51 Kalshi. You're trading against peers in a live market, meaning there's no house. And as the probability changes, you can buy in and out of your position, download the Kalshi app and use code locked on to get $25 when you trade $25. That's Kalshi, trade what's next? 18 plus only. Kalshi products are not available in all jurisdictions, prices, values, and available markets may differ from those mentioned. For more information, see calshy.com slash regulatory. All right, we're back here to close out the Wednesday edition of the Locked-on Penguins podcast. I'm one of your host, Hunter Hodes, joined by my co-s, Patchdamp, and Pat, I will say,
Starting point is 00:25:34 we do expect cuts to happen at some point today, at least the first round of cuts. You're now halfway through your preseason games. The first regular season game is literally a week from today. I would assume that some of the prospects that really haven't played in preseason games yet, or maybe even some of the top prospects that have that, but we know they're not going to make the team, I think could get sent back to H.L. Training Camp or their junior teams, it would just make sense since there's only two more preseason games left,
Starting point is 00:26:03 one on Thursday against Columbus, and then Saturday in Buffalo. That is a 3 o'clock start time on Saturday. The Thursday game is 7 o'clock in Columbus final two preseason games. Wednesday in general is an off day for the penguin, So I think that, again, that makes it, I think, even more likely that we do get at least the first round of cuts. The final round is probably not going to be until Sunday or Monday, something like that. Because after Wednesday, Thursday, we have the third preseason game.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Friday, it's a legitimate initial practice. Saturday is the 3 o'clock preseason game in Buffalo. Sunday, they practice again, and then they practice next week as well, and then they head to Philadelphia. So, again, not much time here. As I said, this is going to be over in the blink of an eye. Just kind of reading the tea leaves by looking at the schedule that's remaining. With them being off today, we're recording this Tuesday night, but it's going to premiere on Wednesday. You figure that's a day where your fringe players, your junior eligible players, are going to get sent back, whether it's to the HL or to their junior teams.
Starting point is 00:27:07 They'll make some cut downs. Then you figure Thursday's game against Columbus will be, to use one of my many cliches that I'm I use here on Locked on. That'll be the last chance saloon for a couple of these fringe players to make an impact and try to make their mark to make the team. And then you figure Friday, you'll probably do another round of cuts a little bit just to get everything down. Then Saturday against Buffalo, that is probably your dress rehearsal game where you're
Starting point is 00:27:37 going to see most of the NHL roster with maybe a couple of other fringe players still sprinkled in that they want to get one last look at. and then probably by Monday or Tuesday, you're going to have your final opening night roster that you're ready to go for when they head to Philadelphia. So I do think that this being a shortened preseason, this being a shortened training camp, there have been some players making their mark. There have been some players that they haven't really done a whole lot to state their case. I do think after the preseason game,
Starting point is 00:28:16 I think this will sound kind of silly. This is more maybe wishcasting than it is reality. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ruck Twins hanging around for another day or two. Just because they played well enough. And I think that I don't want to say that they don't have anything left to prove at the junior level because they do. They need to go there and dominate again. but I do think if you're Kyle Dubus, if you're Dan Mews, you can look at the two of them and go, hang around for another couple days.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Get an idea of what late training camp is. We're still going to send you back. You're still going to have to develop. But they did a lot of positive for themselves against the Red Wings. And then on the other end of it, I wouldn't be shocked. And you kind of hinted at it in the last segment that maybe on Wednesday, that's when they shake Tommy Galvis's hand and say, hey, we'll see you in a few months when you come to Wokes Bear for their stretch running their
Starting point is 00:29:15 playoff. But I would not be shocked at all if we see the first round of cuts starting today. Yeah. And I don't think it's going to be like a massive, massive amount. I just think it's going to be like first round, trims the roster a bit. And then you might get a second round before the final preseason game. And then by early next week, I think you'll kind of be around, you know, that 27, 28 market. and then they'll make their final round and get it down to 23. If I had a guess right now, they might go 14, 7, and 2 going into the season, even with, you know, injuries.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Well, someone like Blake Lazade is still week to week, they might even put him on IR to start the season if he's not going to be back for at least a little bit to start. But, you know, your point about the Rock Twins was interesting, Pat. Do you think they can maybe get another preseason game on Thursday just for the hell of it? Like, that would be interesting, I guess, but I feel like they've already shown what they could so far. far, but I guess it couldn't hurt if you want to give them one more game.
Starting point is 00:30:13 I think you brought up a point there that I also think kind of works in their favor. You've got three injuries now. That kind of, even though they're all day to day, I do think it's three players who, while two of them are still jockeying to make the team in Coyvenin and in Briseau, and we obviously know Ben Kindle is going to be on the team. And then I also forgot Blake Lazzat as well, so that's four injuries. but you have you have two you have two players who you know we're going to be on the NHL roster too are still fighting for a spot i think that can also work in their favor to the
Starting point is 00:30:53 point where the the team can just go you know what let's give them a little bit more of professional experience before sending them back the injuries open that door for them and it's you're not going to go into it with any expectation you don't go into it saying they need to go out in this third preseason game and dominate. They need to be great. It's just go out there, play your best, do what you can do. Let's see what you got. And then we send you back. Yeah. So we'll see if they get into that game on Thursday. We'll see if they survive the first round of cuts. If we do get some on Wednesday, which we expect. But hey, sometimes the penguins are weird about this stuff. But that will do it for the Wednesday edition of the locked on penguins podcast. Thank you all so
