Starting point is 00:00:00 Titans fans, we now know what Traylon Burks' injury is and his timeline for a return. I'm going to break down all of the latest on a bonus edition of the Locked On Titans podcast. Let's get it. You are Locked On Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, Part of the Locked On Podcast Network, your team every day. Welcome to an emergency edition of the Locked on Titans podcast. I literally just dropped an episode one hour ago with the news of Traylon Burke's injury and him getting carted off at practice.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Had some other practice updates in there as well, like Malik Willis' big day, the offense's struggles, and the defense causing some turnovers. But right after I dropped the episode, as is common to happen to me, we got big news on Traylon Burks, an update, major update on his injury. So I'm going to dive into that. Before I do, thank you guys for making the Locked on Titans podcast your first to listen each and every day, Monday through Friday, and sometimes some bonus episodes with two on each day.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Tennessee Titans content on all apps all year long, always for free. Make sure you get subscribed, stay subscribed to the Locked on Titans podcast where it's your team every day. But according to Ian Rappaport from NFL Network, I would say the second biggest NFL insider in the entire world other than Adam Schefter. And I mean, hey, Rappaport has his days where he might be first either way. But according to Ian Rappaport, Titans wide receiver Traylon Burks suffered an LCL sprain during practice today.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Sources say after the MRI. This is good news. I repeat, this is good news. As Burks should only miss a few weeks, a scare, but a solid result considering. This is a miracle. Ladies and gentlemen. I mean, a miracle. Traylon Burks expected to be out only a few weeks. The quote says, as Burks should only miss a few weeks. Not only does it sound like an LCL sprain, but it sounds like a mild LCL sprain on top of that.
Starting point is 00:02:47 So not one of the more devastating ones. I think that would be grade 2, grade 3. So I don't have the exact grade of the LCL sprain at this time, but based on the timeline that's being provided, you would think it would be low level. So Traylon Burks, LCL sprain, should be back in a couple of weeks now. A few weeks. As we know, if we want to break into, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:13 the definitions of these words, a couple, normally two, a few, normally three. But I think the reality here is Burks could be out a month, five weeks. I do think that there is a good chance still that Traylon Burks misses a regular season game or two. But, but let's all just talk about the reality here for a second. The reason why we're all excited.
Starting point is 00:03:34 The reason why I see you guys hype in the chat. I see Tristan says, Woo! That is exactly how we should feel. If Traylon Burks had a torn ACL, a torn MCL, whatever. If Traylon Burks had a torn ACL, a torn MCL, whatever, if Traylon Burks had tore up his knee and was out for the season, I don't care
Starting point is 00:03:50 what you guys say. The Titans season was over. It was over. Making a run in the playoffs, winning the division, all of that was done without Traylon Burks. I explained it in the episode I just dropped a little bit ago. The Tennessee Titans must have two very good wide receivers
Starting point is 00:04:08 to operate their offense, period. Period. Most good teams in the NFL now have three good wide receivers. So the Titans need at least two to be able to be viable, to be able to keep our optimism high. In my opinion, the way that I felt about the team before the signing of DeAndre Hopkins is how I felt about the team
Starting point is 00:04:29 once we first heard this Traylon Burks injury news. Okay? That's how I felt. It was a waste. The season's over. All that. Hey, you guys can keep your optimism high if you wanted, but not me.
Starting point is 00:04:43 If Burks was out for the season, shut this thing down. But now, optimism. Now hope springs eternal. By the middle of September, by the end of September, Traylon Burks should be back, should be good to go. Here's one thing I will say, though. While we did dodge a bullet, while it's fair to go, woo, while it's fair to be excited
Starting point is 00:05:05 that it's not as bad as we thought, this is the type of injury that kind of lingers with a guy throughout the entire season. So let's keep that in mind when Traylon Burks does inevitably come back to the field, hopefully sooner rather than later. But just for a full recap here, one more time for anybody jumping in that's new.
Starting point is 00:05:24 According to Ian Rappaport from NFL Network, quote, Titans wide receiver Traylon Burke suffered an LCL sprain during practice today. Sources say after the MRI, this is good news as Burke should only miss a few
Starting point is 00:05:39 weeks, a scare but a solid result considering. So, a scare, but a solid result considering. So, and no, I'm seeing misinformation in the chat. It is not an LCL tear. It is an LCL sprain according to Ian Rappaport, and certainly those are major differences. So, just want to make sure we're all on the same page here, but what next for the Titans now?
Starting point is 00:06:06 They're not going to have Traylon Burks for a couple of weeks. What do the Titans do? Do they need to make a move? Anything like that. I'm going to get into that in just a moment before I do though. Want to let you guys know that today's bonus episode of the Locked on Titans is brought to you by Nutrafol. We're going to cap off this little bonus edition of the Locked on Titans podcast. I just dropped my episode for tonight a little bit ago.
Starting point is 00:08:15 We didn't have the information about Traylon Burks' injury. Now we do have an update, so I wanted to hop on here, go live, and make sure that we all have the most up-to-date information possible. We'll be right back. at anywhere else. So throw a thumbs up, subscribe. Like half of the people who watch my show every single day aren't subscribed. So help a brother out here, man. Subscribe to the show. Show's free. That's all I ask for in return. But anyways, just to kind of cap off things here for us, Burks has an LCL sprain. He's expected to be back in a few weeks. I would set your expectations at a month if I were you just to be safe I like to do that personally that's just how my brain is wired I'd like to play it safe and be conservative so I would expect a month for Traylon Burks he might miss a couple regular season games but it's not
Starting point is 00:09:16 going to be a season ending injury not going to be anything where he's out the whole year so that is obviously a major bullet dodged for the Titans. They need Burks to hit their ceiling this year. But going forward, what's next for the Titans? I wouldn't make any moves if I were the Titans. I don't think there's any use in bringing in a wide receiver. If it was going to be a much longer injury, then yeah, sure. The reality is Traylon Burks wasn't going to play in these preseason games that the Titans have to end the preseason anyway. He wasn't going to play in these preseason games that the Titans have to end the preseason anyway.
Starting point is 00:09:45 He wasn't going to play on Saturday against Minnesota. Very unlikely that he would play against the Patriots next week. So it's not like the Titans need a wide receiver in place of Traylon Burks for preseason games. That's simply not the case. And once we get to the regular season, it's going to be one week, maybe two weeks at most before Traylon Burks is back in the lineup.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Just doesn't make a lot of sense to go out there and add another wide receiver unless it's somebody that you think is going to make the roster long term, even when Burks is back. You know, the Titans are trying to figure out right now who of their depth wide receivers is worth keeping. Reggie Robertson, Treshawn Harrison, Gavin Holmes, Rayce McMath, Mason Kinsey, Colton Dow, all those guys. Use this opportunity with Burks out of the lineup to see if any of them step up. Again, if it was a longer-term injury for Traylon Burks, then I would say, yeah, go ahead and make an addition.
Starting point is 00:10:37 And I think the Titans in general should still be looking at guys who may get cut from other teams to improve the depth overall, but they should have been doing that before the Burks injury anyway. So overall, I don't think you have to make additions because of the Burks-LCL sprain. I think it would be better to use the opportunity to kind of scout your guys that are on the roster right now and give them additional opportunities. But either way, overall, before I cap this thing off, more importantly than anything else, Traylon Burks' season is not over. The Titans' season is not over for that matter. Again, an LCL sprain for Traylon Burks. According to Ian Rappaport, he's expected to miss a few weeks. I would say a month to keep your expectations low on this one. But again,
Starting point is 00:11:23 my other episode just dropped about an hour ago. Wanted to make sure that I came back here and updated you guys as quick as possible with all the most relevant information. But that is going to do it for me. And that is going to do it for this bonus episode of the Locked on Titans podcast. I'll be back with you guys tomorrow to break down Thursday's joint practices with much less heavier hearts. But as always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland,
Starting point is 00:11:46 and this was Locked on Titans.
