Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Cam Ward 'DIVA ATTITUDE' is EXACTLY what Tennessee Titans Need & Titans MUST COMPETE as Season Ends
Episode Date: December 9, 2025Cam Ward was not pleased with his performance after the Tennessee Titans defeated the Cleveland Browns and now some are using it to say Ward's attitude was selfish or that of a diva, but Ward's pursui...t of greatness should not only be accepted, but encouraged as the Titans need someone like Ward to shake them out of their despair. Ward is also right to expect much better out of himself as the reality is he did not play well against the Browns and his expectations for the rest of the season should be higher. The team should have a higher standard the rest of the year as well as they have a chance to play spoiler in a major way. the number one sports podcast network
shout out to my everydayers out there
if you aren't an everydayer
you need to be one
but again
somehow some way
for a second week in a row
there's a conversation around this team
that I just think is absolute nonsense
and this week
it's Cam Ward's attitude
problem. Cam Ward was in a bad mood after the Titans went over the Browns and
Cam wasn't happy that they won and is this a problem? Is this should people be
concerned? Nonsense. Absolute nonsense. Not only is Cam Ward's quote unquote
attitude after the game not a bad thing it's a great thing. Cam Ward's attitude is
exactly what the Tennessee Titans need to turn this thing around.
So if you didn't see Cam Ward's quotes after the game, this is basically what he said.
And if you watch the press conference, he's clearly annoyed, he's frustrated, all of that
different stuff, but this is what Cam Ward had to say.
He said, it feels good to win.
But you know, winning still hides stuff.
There's a lot of flaws that we've got to continue to get over personally
and then just as a team, we've just got to come next week with the right mindset.
He said, quote, playing good enough football for three quarters
is what the Titans did.
He said, quote, we didn't play our best ball in the fourth quarter
and that's just something that as players,
we've got to hold ourselves to that standard.
We've got to not have a playoff here and there.
We've got to continue to communicate at a high.
high level in all three phases.
I love that message from Cam Ward.
Now, you got some people who are saying, oh, he needs to be happy.
And even his own teammates, story came out that
Arden Key is getting on the intercom on the team playing.
Telling the team, don't listen to Cam.
Be happy about the win.
No win is easy in the NFL.
Man, I gotta tell you.
tell you, do I want the future of the Tennessee Titans to follow Cam Ward's mentality or
follow Arden Key's mentality? It's not even close. It's not even close. And I talked about
this on the Titans Squad Show with Julian Minsonone and Brad Hopkins, the Titans Legend.
Think about two examples here. Number one, Mike Tomlin from the Pittsburgh Steelers. What's his
number one catchphrase? The standard is the standard.
And what does that mean?
That means that you don't use results to justify bad process.
The Tennessee Titans let go of the rope against the Cleveland Browns in the fourth quarter.
The defense fell apart, went into prevent mode,
and let Shador Sanders go up and down the field,
and if not for Quinshaw Judkins,
forgetting the play,
they would have got that two-point conversion and tied up the game,
and who knows what happens from there.
on offense, the last couple of drives for the Titans
after their final touch, after that field goal that they got after the fumble,
five straight runs, two straight punts, just, we're done.
We're not going to try anymore.
We're winning, it's 31, 16 or whatever.
We're not even going to try anymore.
And Cam is pissed about it.
And Cam didn't play that great and he knows it.
That is the attitude I want because the standard is the standard.
Just because we won a BS game
doesn't mean that we should celebrate like we did something incredible.
We did not play well enough.
We need to play better.
And personally for me,
as someone whose idol is Kobe Bryant,
Cam Ward's idol is Kobe Bryant.
To me, when I hear that from Cam Ward,
I hear the Mamba mentality.
Jobs not finish.
What am I supposed to be happy about?
This is only our second win of the season.
You want me to throw a parade
because we beat a bad team
and we fell asleep at the end
and almost let him come back and beat us?
You want me to be up here
lighten cigars?
No, this is not good enough.
And that's why this is exactly the mentality
that they need.
Do you remember on the Netflix show
or hard knocks or whatever it was about the quarterbacks?
Do you remember Joe Burrow after they beat the time?
Titans last year.
He was pissed on the bench.
They beat the Titans, what, 31 to 13 or 31, 16?
They stopped the Titans.
Will Levis was terrible in that game.
You guys all forget that, but Will Levis was awful.
And they had to bench Will Levis in that game
because he kept giving the ball away.
But Joe Burrow was on the bench in that game,
and Zach Taylor, his head coach, is trying to hype him up,
handshake, dap him.
and bro's pissed
he's like we effing suck
we're
that was terrible
that was a
and Jack Taylor was like
come on man we won
he's like no
that's not good enough
that's not good enough
he was angry
that is what I want
for my quarterback
that's what I want to see
from Cam Ward right now
this wasn't good enough
because being just good enough
to beat the Cleveland Browns
and almost let them come back
that's not the mentality
that's going to have the Titans
turning things around.
That's not
what's going to turn this thing around.
The Titans need a psychopathic
competitor, a relentless
perfectionist
who is going to say, yeah, we won, but that wasn't our standard.
Yeah, we won, but that wasn't good enough.
Yeah, we won, but I'm not satisfied
with the way that we played.
That's what I want to hear. That's what the Tennessee Titans organization
that's been drowning in its own misery for the last few years.
That is what they need to shake them out of this.
Not Arden Key on the intercom.
Yeah, baby, we beat the Browns. They almost came back.
You gotta celebrate the wins. You got to celebrate wins.
Be happy with the wins.
And I'm talking about players perspective right now, not the fans.
I'm not talking about us being happy with the win.
like we talked about a couple of days ago.
This is the players' perspective.
I'm not saying that players should not be happy when they win,
but when you're at this level
and when you're where the Tennessee Titans are as a team,
you can't just be happy with nonsense
just because it happened to go that way.
Like, the Titans are not playing good enough football.
And just because they won against another bad team
doesn't mean Cam Ward should light a cigar
and start the parade. Cam Ward knows where we need to go to turn this around,
who we need to be as a team to turn this thing around in the future.
This was not good enough.
So I'm not going to act like we played an incredible game out there
and lived up to the standard that Cam Ward has for himself.
And being that driven and being that much of a perfectionist,
I resonate with that and that is what I want from my quarterback
and what this team needs.
They need more Cam Ward's and less Arden Keys.
That's what I know.
So, I thought this conversation was a complete nothing burger,
but seeing people complain about Cam Ward's attitude,
it just has me absolutely angry because
that is what the Titans need.
The Titans organization needs a guy like Cam Ward
to not be satisfied with nonsense
and to know that so much more and so much better
is going to be required to turn this thing around.
Now, with that being said,
Cam Ward has to be better himself. And I'm going to tell you what I want to see from Cam Ward the rest of the season.

Let's continue today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
We talked about Cam Ward's quote-unquote bad attitude after the game
and why I think it's exactly the mentality
that the Titans need from their quarterback to turn these things around.
But now we need to talk about what we want to see from Cam Ward
the rest of the season
because there are four games left for the Titans.
They're not easy games
by any stretch of the imagination.
The Titans have to go on the road
and play the San Francisco 49ers this week.
Then they got to come back home
and play the Kansas City Chiefs
and I know the Chiefs are having a down year
but let's not kid ourselves.
The Chiefs can still absolutely roll
the Tennessee Titans.
And then not only that,
but they finish the season
with a game at Jacksonville
who's leading the division right now
now you do have the New Orleans Saints game
at home in week 17
but heck
the Saints just beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
so it's not like the Saints
are playing terrible football they might be playing
their best football of the season
by the time they come to Nashville
so the point of all of that is to say
it's not going to be easy for Cam Ward
This last month of the season is going to be very difficult.
Now, we'll talk about each individual team
and my expectations for the Titans as the team
during that schedule.
But San Francisco's defense has had struggles
but it's still led by Robert Sala
who's going to have an excellent plan for Cam Ward.
We know that Kansas City's defense is very good
and Steve Spacknola,
one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL.
New Orleans has Brandon Staley
who has had his ups and downs.
No doubt about it.
But they got some talent.
on the defensive side of the ball
that can make it hard for the Titans
if, you know, not as good as the two previous teams.
And then Jacksonville, we just saw Jacksonville
absolutely stop the Tennessee Titans
and hold them to three points.
So it's not like Cam Ward has easy games ahead here,
but I will say this.
He has to be better.
He has to be better.
I even said on the squad show,
you could talk about offensive lines,
weapons, offensive coaching,
the defense around him, playing at home.
You can talk about all the different circumstantial things
between Cam Ward and Shador Sanders in that game.
But the truth is, even adjusting for the circumstances,
Shador Sanders outplayed Cam Ward in that game.
With all your circumstances, all your, all the...
even weighing it on a curve, grading on a curve,
for all of the situation
Shador Sanders still made better throws
and made throws that KAM Ward didn't make in the game.
So I need KAM Ward to play better.
He is capable of better
and I think that's part of the reason he was so mad.
It wasn't just that the team
didn't play up to their standard
and it's Cam Ward didn't play up to his standard
and he knows he did not have a great game.
He knows it.
So I need to see from Cam Ward going forward
more accuracy.
He's just got to be more accurate with the ball
and I know he's not going to have clean pockets all the time
and it's harder to throw under pressure
but listen I've seen some of you guys argue
especially on the miss throw to Chim DK
oh there's pressure in his face
all right well when you're an NFL quarterback
and a good NFL quarterback
you have to hit passes with pressure in your face
Cam Ward should have completed that pass
the pressure in his face on that play
is not an excuse for Cam Ward did not complete that
pass. And his downfield accuracy, he had another ball down the sideline to Chim Dekay
where he was open on a streak route that he sailed four or five yards out of bounds.
It wasn't even close. And I talked about his deep accuracy being a problem
when he was coming out of college. And down the sidelines deep, it remains a problem.
He's got to be more accurate. Even on some of these little passes, some of these small ones,
there was a bootleg to Gunner Helm where Gunner Helm, not the one where he'd
avoids the sack and throws the brown sky off of him.
But there was another where he did a play action bootleg
and there is pressure on him
but Gunner Helm is open in the flat
and he sails it over top of him.
I just want to see him hit that.
There are some guys in this game against man coverage
that he just missed.
He either goes through his progressions too quick
and doesn't see the guy, doesn't get through him quick enough.
I just need to see better accuracy and more
poise.
Just more calm.
Over the last couple of weeks and you guys are going to say
oh it's the titan's fault for
him getting sacked so many times
and him having so much pressure on him.
Okay, that's fair
but at the end of the day the cream rises to the crop
and I have seen a couple of weeks here in a row
where Cam Ward has dropped his eyes
because he's scared of the pressure
or he thinks the pressure is going to be there
and he's actually in a clean pocket.
It happened last week,
against Jacksonville on a 3rd and 5 over the middle where Alec Ayo Manor was available.
We saw it a couple times in this game where he's too worried about the pressure
when the pressure isn't actually there.
You've got to be more poised. You've got to be more calm.
You can't do that.
So I want to see that get better throughout the end of the season.
I want to see more accuracy on the easy stuff for Cam Ward.
And we got to get back to using the legs.
Man coverage is what the Brown's specialty is.
and man coverage should in theory
make it easier for a quarterback to use his legs
because when you're in zone
the entire defense is looking at the quarterback
when you're in man
no one's looking at the quarterback
well no one with a man assignment
maybe you're deep you know
deep field safety
your intermediate hook defender
they have eyes on the quarterback but the point is
it's easier to scramble against man
and we didn't see any of that from Cam Ward against the Browns
now I talked about the paired down game plan
and how they had a very heavily orchestrated, heavily schemed game plan
that only had 11 classic drop back.
So it's not like Cam Ward had a ton of time to drop back and then scramble.
But going forward the rest of the season,
I do want to see Cam Ward be more like the guy we saw against Houston
and the guy we saw against Seattle
and see him use his legs more often.
That's got to be part of the game.
Look at what Justin Herbert was doing on Monday night football against the Eagles.
10 carries for 60 yards.
they didn't have anybody open downfield
but Justin Herbert got through the pocket
and made plays and Herbert is a better athlete
than Cam Ward and a better runner
than Cam Ward but Cam Ward could still do that
and Justin Herbert had a broken left hand
Cam Ward's gonna have to
be more accurate, be more poised
use his legs more and the final thing is
take care of the ball
that's really what I want to see from Cam Ward
down the stretch. He went
six straight games without an interception
and then he has the interception against the Browns.
All right.
I get it.
But
down the stretch here, the fumbles.
Cam Ward right now tied for the NFL lead in fumbles
and he's tied with Daniel Jones
and Daniel Jones is out the rest of the season.
Cam Ward has to clean up the fumble problem
and he has to find a way to keep that consistency
going with not throwing interceptions.
Period. Period. Taking care of the football is the number one thing that Cam Ward can do.
So I need Cam Ward to be more accurate, not only on his deep passes, but on the easy ones.
I'm more concerned about the easy ones.
I need him to be more poised and not be overly affected by pressure that isn't really there
and the offensive line can help him with that by continuing to improve.
Get back to using your legs a little bit and take care of the football.
That's all I want to see from Cam Ward.
It's not about stats.
It's not about wins and loss.
It's not about any of that.
It's those things.
More accurate, more poise.
Use your legs more and take care of the football.
Those are the four things that I want to see from Cam Ward
going forward the rest of the year.
Let me know what you want to see from Cam Ward going forward the rest of the year.
Now I want to talk about the Tennessee Titans as a whole
and I think there's a chance.
They can play spoiler.

Titans fans, let's cap off today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
We talked about Cam Ward's attitude problem.
We talked about what Cam Ward's expectation should be the rest of the season.
Now I want to talk about the Tennessee Titans as a whole.
Before we do, thanks again for making the Locked-on Titans your first listen
and thanks again for making the Locked-on podcast network,
the number one sports podcast network.
But so we know that the Tennessee Titans start
with the San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco
and I got to tell you guys
I think that this is a tough, tough matchup
for the Tennessee Titans as you probably agree with
and probably already know
I think San Francisco incredibly well coach
Kyle Shanahan is maybe my favorite coach
in the entire NFL
the talent that they have on the offensive side of the ball
they're 9 and 4 for a reason
this is a good football team
but let me say this
and it's up my guy Zach Lyons
pointed out on Twitter this week.
But San Francisco's pass rush has been absolutely terrible.
They have no Joey Bosa,
Mikel Williams, their first round pick.
They've had a ton of injuries up front.
They've had a ton of injuries on defense in general.
Like, you know, Fred Warner is out.
Nick Bosa is out.
Like, it's tough for him.
And that could be a major advantage to the Titans.
I think the numbers here are,
the 49ers have the least amount of stuff.
sacks in the NFL at 16, their pressure rate is one of the worst in the NFL.
They just do not get pressure on quarterbacks consistently without sending
blitzes. And Robert Sala isn't a guy who likes to blitz.
He wants to rush with his front four and keep his back seven intact.
So it makes it tough for San Francisco to adjust,
and I think that gives the Titans a real opportunity to go in and be competitive.
But again, it's going to require Cam Ward to play better.
If the Titans can run the football
the way that they did against the Browns
and Cam Ward has a game like he played
against the Texans or against the Seahawks
they are going to beat the 49ers
they're going to win
but if that doesn't happen
which I don't think it necessarily will entirely
it's going to be tough for the Titans to win
but there is at least an avenue there against San Francisco
where I want to see the offensive line play well
Look, the game playing against the Browns was super unique, super different
because they had to deal with Miles Garrett.
It's the total opposite against San Francisco.
They don't have anybody in the pass rush who's going to make you fearful.
So, the offensive line for the Titan should absolutely dominate this matchup.
They should have a major advantage in this matchup the entire time
and that should make Cam Ward be able to feel more comfortable
and more poised and throw with more accuracy.
that should make the Titans offense do better in the passing game,
have more balance.
That's what we should see in this matchup.
So I think that while this is a very difficult team to go against for the Titans
because of their offensive talent,
I think the defensive problems for the 49ers
give the Titans a chance to go out there and play well even if they lose.
But here's the thing.
The NFC wild card race is super, super tight right now
and San Francisco is currently the number 6 seed,
but if the Titans go in there and beat San Francisco,
They could ruin their season and then you talk about Kansas City the next week
Kansas City coming into Nashville to play the Titans I mentioned this stretch of the
season before the season ever started when we did our schedule reaction video
I said that this last month of the season this last five weeks of the season
starting with the Browns which was a winnable game before we even knew how bad the
Titans were gonna be
Then the 49ers, the Chiefs, the Saints, which we knew would be a winnable game even before the season
and it will be a winnable game for the Titans.
And then if you finished with Jacksonville,
we knew that this stretch of the season could be a stretch where
the Titans started to improve towards 2026.
Brutal start to the season, brutal schedule, we knew that was there.
Tough after the buy with some good teams.
but this last five weeks of the season, the Titans could,
and I keep comparing it to the Panthers.
I think the Panthers are a good comparison for the Titans.
Last year, the Panthers finished the season strong.
Bryce Young showed some good things.
They played the Eagles tight.
They played the Chiefs tight.
And it was a moment like, okay, we didn't win those games,
but this team is improving.
And that's what the Titans can do here
with this last stretch of the season.
No, the Titans probably won't beat San Francisco.
No, they probably won't beat Kansas City.
But if they're competitive, they play hard, they show well in those games.
It can be the momentum that the Tennessee Titans need to move forward into 2026
and become a much better football team and they can prove it to themselves
by being competitive against good football teams.
And no, the Chiefs may not make the playoffs this year.
But wouldn't it be cool to say that the Titans officially mathematically eliminated the Kansas City Chiefs?
The Titans could play big-time spoiler
to San Francisco, to Kansas City, to Jacksonville at the end of the season.
Imagine if the Titans beat Jackson...
And look, Jacksonville is leading the AFC South right now.
All right now, they're leading.
But they're 9 and 4.
And Jacksonville could absolutely, could...
absolutely crater to lose the division.
And I think it would be the Texans who are hot, won five games in a row.
I think it could be the Texans who take it away from them.
But Jacksonville has to play at Denver, two weeks, at the Colts.
Home for the Titans the last three weeks of the season.
They play the Jets this week.
They're going to win that game for sure and go to 10 and 4.
But if they drop to 10 and 7 and lose their last three games and the Titans play sports,
Spoiler, and the Texans, who, again, five straight wins right now, Jacksonville has four straight wins, of course.
They're hot too, no doubt.
But Houston gets to play Arizona.
Then they play the Raiders.
Then they play the Chargers with their banged up offensive line.
And then they finish with the Colts.
The Texans could absolutely win out when all of their games go to 12 and 5.
and the Titans could beat Jacksonville
in the final week of the season
to make them 11 and 6
and give the division to the Texans
like that is the type of thing
that I know a lot of you guys are like no
no no no no no they can't do that
they'll ruin the picks
but if you're the Titans and you're the players
in that locker room that's exactly what you want to do
and doing something like that
absolutely builds momentum
towards the next season
and we just saw that happen with the Carolina Panthers
So that's what I'm looking for from the Titans
is to just be competitive
and maybe play a little spoiler
for some of these teams to set up momentum
going into next season.
But with that being said,
