Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Cam Ward MVP SEASON COMING for Tennessee Titans & Carnell Tate DISAPPOINTS in SEASON PREDICTIONS
Episode Date: September 2, 2026The Tennessee Titans season is right around the corner and it is time for PREDICTIONS. It isn't much of a hot take to say Cam Ward will be the team's MVP, but predicting his stat line for the season i...s more difficult to project. Carnell Tate on the other hand will be considered a disappointment even though he can still have a solid season statistically. On defense, Jeffery Simmons should be able to have another double-digit sack season as the defense's MVP, but Kevin Winston stepping up among the young players and making multiple interceptions in the backend would help the cause. Finally, Tyler takes a shot at predicting the stat line for the Titans top weapons like Calvin Ridley, Wan'Dale Robinson and Tony Pollard. Cam Ward has not had a perfect preseason, but I still believe he'll be the Tennessee Titans
MVP this year. I'm doing my Titans Awards predictions on today's edition of Locked-on Titans.
You are Locked-on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked-on Podcast Network,
your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked On Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans.
Today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast is brought to you by Game Time.
Download the Game Time app, create an account, use the code locked on for $20 off,
your first purchase on today's show.
I'm going to be doing my Tennessee Titans awards and stat predictions.
We're going to look at how many catches, how many yards, how many touchdowns.
All of the Titans weapons get on offense.
We're going to talk about who's going to be the defensive MVP,
who's going to break out on defense, on offense where we're going to start.
I'm going to tell you why I think Cornell Tate's going to be the disappointed.
for the offense this year, but Cam Ward will be the team's MVP,
and that is exactly where we start.
Here's what it comes down to.
I need Cam Ward to be the Tennessee Titans MVP.
If Cam Ward is not the Tennessee Titans' most valuable player this year,
then the team probably didn't do very well, didn't hit the goals that we wanted,
didn't have a successful season.
The Titans need Cam Ward to play well and to lead this football team.
And look, Jeffrey Simmons could have an A-plus season.
Simmons could have 15 sacks next year, be absolutely incredible.
He could win defensive player of the year in the NFL.
And I would still rather have a Cam Ward B-plus season
because the quarterback position is so important
that what it would mean for the Tennessee Titans,
like if Cam Ward had an A-plus year
and Jeffrey Simmons had an A-plus year,
which one results in more wins for the Titans?
Because you could say Simmons had at least an A year.
maybe you could argue an A-plus year
last year for the Titans
All-Pro defensive tackle
the best interior defensive lineman in the NFL
and it resulted in three wins.
If Cam Ward makes the all-pro team this year,
the Titans probably are in the playoffs.
Do you see the difference in value
between even Jeffrey Simmons,
the best player on the team,
and then what Cam Ward can be?
So at the end of the day,
I need Cam Ward to be the MVP.
I'm going to believe in Cam Ward.
to be this team's MVP.
And he may not play as well this year individually.
Again, as a guy like Jeffrey Simmons
or a guy like Peter Skoronsky,
but in terms of the value it's going to bring to the football team,
if Cam Ward has a B-plus year this year,
it's going to be a massive, massive deal for the Titans.
So I'm going with Cam Ward as my MVP.
Now, what yards is he going to throw for?
What stats will Cam Ward put up?
And play along with me down below, folks.
I want to see your guys' picks for all of the kids.
these awards. I want to see your stat
predictions for Cam Ward and
crew, but I think this year
and you've got to remember
this. Passing overall
is down in the NFL compared
to five or six years ago.
Like when the Titans were last good at
football, the passing
numbers, we were seeing 5,000 yard
passers and stuff. That's not
happening anymore. So
with that in mind, and
we could get into a philosophical discussion
about why that is the case, too high safety,
teams playing more smaller personnel groupings to take away explosives in the passing game,
which has led to teams playing with more tight ends and blah, blah, blah, blah.
That's a conversation for a different day.
But with that being said, 3,800 passing yards, 22 passing touchdowns,
six rushing touchdowns.
I think that Cam Ward is not a runner, but like Ryan Tannahill,
Cam Ward can be effective as a runner in short yardage and goal line situations.
Brian Daible has already showed us that he likes to get the quarterback involved in the run game.
And Tony Pollard and Tage Spears, neither of them are power enough
to be able to be trusted in goal line carries.
So getting the quarterback involved, adding a 10th blocker,
because when the quarterback hands it off to the running back on a run play,
there's only nine blockers, and then the running back in the quarterback.
But when you get the quarterback involved in the run game,
you get an extra blocker because the quarterback is the ball carry,
which is why teams like to do that,
especially in the red zone when space is more reserved.
So I think Cam Ward has 28 total touchdowns.
I'm going to go with 12 interceptions and 15 total turnovers.
We'll go with three fumbles lost.
He's going to have strip sacks guys.
Every quarterback in the league gets sacked and get stripped
when they're not expecting it.
It's about situations where he does.
expect contact being able to hold on to the football and not those weird
wonky ones that fall out of his hand. Those will be critical to clean up. But he's not
just never going to fumble again. That can't be the expectation. So 3,800
passing yards, 28 total touchdowns, 22 passing, 12
interceptions, 15 total turnovers, 61% completion percentage. I still don't think
that cam, like a guy like Caleb Williams, for example, I don't think that
Cam is ever going to be a 70% completion guy.
I just don't.
I don't think that's the type of player that he is.
He's like, think about the way that we think about
Carnel Tate as a prospect coming out of college.
Like great on deep balls, really efficient.
There was some stuff underneath and everything like that
that you want to see cleaned up.
But deep ball efficiency and Cammore's the same way.
Yeah, you're not going to get the five-yard slant with consistency,
blah, blah, blah, but he's going to hit these big plays down the field that matter.
And speaking of Carnell Tate, when it comes to,
who is going to be a disappointment this year in the offense.
There were a couple of candidates.
Cam Ward, but I don't believe that.
He'll figure it out.
Cornell Tate, Gunner held,
and then J.C. Latham.
Those are the only guys who I think could even qualify
because my expectations for everybody else are so low
or like I know Wondell Robinson and Tony Pollard,
they're just going to do what they do.
I know Peters Karonsky's just going to do what he does.
But Schlotman, Carmona, Dan Moore, D.K., I. I.O., Spears.
Like, my expectations for them are so low
that I can't say that they disappoint if they don't have a great year.
So it comes down to, again, a couple of different people.
And I don't think that Carnell Tate is going to be bad.
I didn't pick Cornell Tate as my disappointment
on the offense because I think
Carnel Tate is going to play poorly this season.
I just think when you take a wide receiver
in the top five of the draft,
they should have a thousand yard season as a rookie.
Period.
I mean, Teteroa McMillan had a thousand yards last year
and he was the eighth pick.
Cornell Tate should be as good as Tetero and McMillan, right?
And Bryce Young was Tetero and McMillan's quarterback,
and we all think Cam Ward's better than Bryce Young, right?
So if Carnell Tate is better than Teteroa McMillan,
and he has a better quarterback than Teteroa McMillan,
why should Carnell Tate not be as productive as Tetero and McMillan as a rookie?
But I don't think that he's going to be.
I'm going to go with 720 receiving yards,
48 catches, and three touchdowns for Carnell Tate.
And I think that most of you would say that that would be disappointing.
That would be a disappointment for the season,
if his numbers were that low.
But quite honestly, that's where I think it's going to be.
I just don't think that Tate is the alpha-wide receiver from day one
that can come out and just win one-on-one matchups
and Cam can constantly go to him.
And I don't believe that he's going to be that from day one.
I believe he's going to be more than Cornell Tate
looking like the Titan star number one superstar receiver.
I think he's going to look like a good cog within the offense.
He's just going to be a good role player within the offense.
on those deep shots that he gets.
I don't think that he's going to be overly efficient
with his targets.
I know everybody's going to be mad about that,
but that's where I'm at.
I think Cam Ward's the MVP.
I think Carnell Tate will be the Titans disappointment.
As for the top weapon
is the award.
Who will be the top weapon
for the Tennessee Titans?
I think Wondale Robinson
will have the most stats.
But I think Gunner Helm
will end up being the Titans
top weapon. I think Gunner Helm will have the most touchdowns of anybody on the weapon group,
not the running backs or cam, but everybody that catches passes for a living.
I'm going to go with 55 catches, 670 yards and 6 touchdowns for Gunner Helm.
I think he's going to make big plays. I think he's going to have a breakout year.
He's going to take a step forward. He's going to be a threat in the red zone against linebackers.
So Gunner Helm is my winner of top weapon.
Top offensive linemen for the Titans this year.
Again, play with me down below in the YouTube comments.
Hit me up on social media if you're in the Locked on Titans every day or club.
Get in the group chat.
Let me know your guys' predictions here.
But top offensive linemen, I think Peter Skoronsky
will be the Titans' best offensive linemen this year.
But I'm going to give my prediction to J.C. Latham.
I think Latham takes a big step forward this year.
think four sacks, 20 pressures.
He cuts last year, I think he had it was eight sacks and 39 pressures.
So cuts his pressures in sacks in half, takes a huge step forward in the run game as well.
Peter Skronsky will be the better player this year.
But I think J.C. Latham, again, because he's an offensive tackle, and that's more valuable,
I think Latham will be the top O-Lineman in performance this year for the Titans.
and that's exactly what they're hoping for.
My final award here on the offensive side of the ball
is the unsung hero of the offense.
And I'm going to give the award to Tony Pollard.
I thought about Austin Sloatman.
I thought about Wondale Robinson.
But ultimately, I think Tony Pollard
is about to have a very good year,
about 850 rushing yards
and 7 or 8 touchdowns for Tony Pollard.
I think he's going to have a solid season.
and he's only going to miss out on the thousand yards
because the Titans have Nick Singleton and Tage Spears
and there's more of a committee than we've seen in the past.
So I think Cam Ward's your offensive MVP
and the team MVP.
Gunner Helms the top weapon.
Latham will be the top O-Linman,
unsung hero on offenses Tony Pollard,
and Carnell Tate will be the offensive disappointment.
And now we move to the defensive side of the ball
where I'm going to tell you the defensive MVP
that you probably know
we're also going to talk about who's going to be the top
young guy for the Titans on Defense this year.

Let's continue today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, I'm doing my Tennessee Titans predictions on today's show.
I'm doing awards.
I'm doing stats.
We just did offense.
Now moving to defense at the end of the show,
I'm going to go deeper into the offensive side of the ball with my statistical predictions.
Calvin Ridley, Wondale Robinson, Tage Spears, Nick Singleton,
Ehrlich Iow Manor, I'm going to give you my stat predictions on all of those guys.
Again, encouraging everybody to play along with me no matter where you would like to communicate,
you can find me there.
But with that being said, the defensive MVP,
do I really need to, do I really need to Jeffrey Simmons?
It's going to be Jeffrey Simmons.
It needs to be Jeffrey Simmons.
How could it not be Jeffrey Simmons?
If it's not Jeffrey Simmons, things probably went very, very poorly
because it means big Jeff got hurt, wasn't available for multiple games,
had an absolutely terrible year, which would be a disaster, right?
With everything that we're expected from this defensive line,
the defensive line is the drum of the team.
Like, they want to be fast and violent, overly physical.
Like, they want to beat you up on the D line.
Mike Borganzi.
We talked yesterday about how Mike Borgonzi
tried to pour cold water on the Titan season
and keep expectations low.
The one thing he did say was,
we think our D-Line's going to be pretty good.
That's like the one thing that he knows
is that the D-Line group looks pretty good.
And Robert Sala creates good defensive line groups.
So, Jeffrey Simmons is going to be the team MVP,
okay, or the defensive MVP, all right, no doubt about it.
And I think Jeff, I think he gets a,
career high. 12 sacks this year for Jeffrey Simmons is what I think he's going to do.
Moving right along. The next award is
who is going to be the top young player on the Titans defense.
And for a young player, that's first two years.
So the rookies this year and then last year's rules.
So Kevin Winston, Marcus Harris, Femiola Dejo,
Anthony Hill, Keldrick Falk.
For me, I got to go with Kevin Winston.
I believe. I believe.
You know, maybe I'm proven wrong,
and he is a boomer bust prospect
because his bad plays are disasters,
but his good plays are incredible.
But I just think that Kevin Winston in the back end of the defense,
with the range and the speed and the length
and the physicality that he plays with,
he is going to make big time hits to break up.
passes. He is going to make
interceptions in the back end on balls to get
floated up and stuff. He's going to have the range
to get under them. I just think Kevin
Winston is going to have some bad plays
but his impact plays
are going to make a real
impact. That was bad plays
could have a real impact as well. I'm not trying to
act like they won't. But I
just have faith that Kevin Winston
will make more impactful
plays this year than any
of the other young guys that we
just mentioned in that group. I have Kevin
Winston, three interceptions this year, two sacks, and two force fumbles.
I think he's going to fill up the box score.
He's, with his physical attributes, his fierce style of play, and now in this game, it's just,
I believe, I believe in Kevin Winston.
That's all that I know.
Now, another category that I like here is, who is going to be the Titans' top free
agent signing.
So you have Jacob Martin.
I'm adding Jermaine Johnson in there.
We'll say veteran acquisition.
Will that be a better catch-all phrase than free agent signing?
The Titans top defensive veteran acquisition is what we'll call the category.
So Jermaine Johnson, John Franklin Myers, Cordell Flott, Alante Taylor, Tony Adams.
I guess you could throw Solomon Thomas and Jordan Elliott, you know, sure, throw those guys in there if you want to.
Let's just get real.
I got to go with John Franklin Myers.
Again, it comes down to the defensive line.
And with Jeffrey Simmons getting the attention that he's getting,
Zach Allen for the Broncos got a lot of attention on the interior
last year, which allowed John Franklin Myers to get one-on-one matchups
to be able to dominate.
And that's exactly what he's going to get here.
So we know who John Franklin Myers is going to be.
I'm going to go with eight sacks for John Franklin Myers.
So that's 20 sacks between the Titans 2 starting defensive tackles.
That's the type of impact that the Tennessee Titans are hoping for.
That's what they need from those guys.
So I'm going to go with John Franklin Myers.
Now, I will tell you, I have more faith in Alante Taylor
than I think other people do because collectively,
everyone is down on the secondary right now, right?
So the secondary includes Alante Taylor, got to be down on him.
I'm not down on Alante Taylor.
And the secondary's best moments this preseason,
the finish against the Seattle Seahawks,
the finish against the Bears.
You know, Alante Taylor is a guy who is making those plays,
especially against Seattle.
He had a bunch of big-time plays.
So for me, Alante Taylor was in the discussion
more than maybe some people would think.
Jermaine Johnson, he was in more of a discussion
with another category that we'll get into soon.
But for me, it was John Franklin Myers or Alante Taylor,
but I will go with J.FM on the D-Line.
Now, who I think will be a disappointment this year for the Titans defense.
And again, Jermaine Johnson was in the conversation.
I don't think people, I know he's had a really good camp,
and maybe he's fully 100% back to speed,
and his veteran intelligence and technique improvement,
which you have seen on tape even last year,
maybe if he's back to his 2023 physical shape,
With his 2026 mind as a veteran,
Germaine Johnson will go to a new level this year,
be a 12 to 15 sack guy,
turn into a great number one solid edge,
and we're good.
And we re-sign him for $30 million.
The Jalen Phillips deal,
three years, $30 million a year,
and we have Keldrick and we have Femi
and we have Johnson,
and we're good at edge for a little while.
Maybe that happened.
but I think that
Jermaine Johnson is much more likely to be at like
six sacks
this year
five sacks
something like that
where I think Titans fans are thinking
8 to 10, 11, 12, 8 to 12
somewhere in that range
for your number one edge rusher
and Jermaine Johnson and how excited
you know everybody was when they got him
and everything I just feel like
and I even said that when he was signed.
I was excited.
it was a good, or when he was traded for.
It was a good trade.
Like, I would take Jermaine Johnson over to Vandre Sweat,
even with the contracts.
But let's not confuse ourselves on who Jermaine Johnson is as a player.
You know, we didn't just trade for an elite alpha edge rusher
or anything like that.
We traded for a solid starting edge rusher,
which the Titans needed.
But anyways, my point here is I consider Jermaine Johnson,
but I ultimately went with Cordell Flop.
and I'm a Titans fan.
So I know that the Titans aren't gonna
Yotsie all their free agent signings and all their moves and everything.
Like, it's not all going to work out.
There are going to be moves in there that do not work.
I think the Cordell Flot one will be one that does not work.
And as some are doing already,
we'll be going into next year saying,
man, the Titans could really use a cornerback high in the draft.
and Leonard Moore, Notre Dame,
might be a guy who could be potentially available.
So keep that in mind throughout the year.
All right, this is a great draft, folks.
I'm telling you.
I know it sounds crazy to talk about draft this early
before the season even starts,
but this draft nasty.
I'm already fantasizing about Dylan Stewart,
Colin Simmons, Trevor Gooseby,
Jordan Seaton, Leonard Moore, Cam Coleman,
you know, I hope the Titans aren't bad enough
to get Jeremiah Smith.
But if they are, they get Jeremiah Smith.
You know, so it's like,
you know, it gets you excited.
But we'll put a pen in that and get back to it after the year, hopefully,
or much later in the year than we have been in the last couple of years.
But my last category on defense, unsung hero,
and I went deep in the back for this one.
I think it's going to be Tony Adams.
Tony Adams has had a good camp.
He's made plays.
He had the interception against the bears at the end of practice
to win the practice for the tight team.
so to speak. Tony Adams is fast.
He knows solid system, really, really smart,
gets people lined up, good traffic cop.
I like him better next to Kevin Winston because he can teach Kevin Winston a little bit better.
Amoni Hooker has fallen off a cliff, folks.
So I think that Tony Adams is going to play big nickel for this defense.
I think he might play over Amani Hooker at some point during the season.
I think Tony Adams is going to hold it down in the back end.
And he's not a guy who people are paying a lot of attention to right now,
but I think he's going to play a lot for the Titans.
So unsung hero for the defense, Tony Adams.
But with that being said, I got more stat predictions for you guys,
how many yards, catches, touchdowns, Calvin Ridley, Wondale Robinson,
Elic, Ionaner.
So much to discuss.
I'm going to do some stats on defense again as well.
Fun episode.

But with that being said, again, more stat predictions. Had to have a little bit of a big
promo there. I don't do that a lot these days. Cut out the promo at the beginning of the show.
But, you know, I want to let you guys know what's coming down the pipe.
But Wondale Robinson.
I think Robinson has the most catches on the team and the most yards.
So I think Wondale Robinson gets 82 catches.
I think he's right around 700 to 750 yards.
I think Cornell Tate and Wondell Robinson are both going to be around that 700-yard range.
But Wondell Robinson is going to have it on like 80 catches,
and Cornell Tate's going to have it on like 50-55 catches.
You know what I mean?
somewhere in there.
That's what I'm expecting because
Cardinal Tate's going to catch
more deep passes than Wondale
Robinson is going to do.
I don't think that Wondale Robinson is a big target
in the red zone. I'm going to have him with three
touchdowns on the year. I don't think
they're going to be looking for Wondale all that
often because he's small
contested contested catches
and things like he can get it open quick, but there's
just not a lot of space so people converge on you
pretty quickly. How about Calvin Ridley?
I think Calvin is just going to be a role
player in the offense. 400 yards, 38 catches.
One touchdown. Two touchdowns. I'll say two. I'll give them two.
400 yards, 38 catches, two touchdowns for Calvin Ridley. I just,
I think that we're going to see a lot of Elic Iyo Manor. We're going to get
Chim D.K. mixed in there as well. We're going to see a lot of two wide receiver
sets where Ehrlich and Tate are on the field because they're big body wide receivers who are way
better blockers than Calvin Ridley is. I think Calvin Ridley is going to be used in some special
ways. I think Calvin Ridley might be where we have like a third down running back. You've heard of
the third down running back. I think Calvin Ridley might be the third down wide receiver.
Where we don't see Calvin Ridley too often on early downs. He comes out there on passing downs
and helps as, you know, an underneath speed target or someone who can do a cross or across the field
to open up things for underneath stuff. I just don't think that Calvin Ridley is going
to be one of the primary target getters for this team.
I think Tate, Helm, Robinson are going to be much more targeted,
even Elyke-I-O-Manner, I think.
Which is where we go next, Elyke-O-Manner.
I'm going to go with 42 catches, 40 catches right there,
500 yards.
500 yards for Eilke-Ir Manor, but five touchdowns.
I think I-O is going to have the second-most touch-y-y-y-y-ynolds.
I think I.O. is going to have the second most touchdowns, receiving touchdowns on the team
behind Gunner Helm. I just think that Iow Manor right now is more physical than Tate,
stronger than Tate, thicker build than Tate, which makes him a better option in the red zone.
And I think Gunner Helm, obviously, is an even bigger version of that,
which is why I like him to have the most receiving touchdowns on the team with six.
but I'm going to go 42 catches, 500 receiving yards, and five touchdowns for Elyke.
I'm aner.
Now we get into the run game.
Again, I told you earlier, I think that Tony Pollard will have 850 rushing yards and go over a thousand yards total.
I think Tosier Spears is going to do the same thing.
I think Tosier Spears is going to end up with 600, 700 rushing yards and two to 300 to 400 to 400 receiving yards.
I think they're going to get Tajay so much more involved in the receiving game this year.
And they should. They should.
He's a jitterbug out in space, one of the hardest guys to tackle.
I forget who it was on the, it was somebody on Seattle, maybe.
It might have been San Francisco.
I forget. It could have been Chicago, actually.
I totally forget now.
But it was one of the preseason games.
One of the guys came up to Tajay and was like,
dude, you're one of the hardest guys to tackle in the NFL.
You know what I mean?
And he is.
He is, man.
he's quick, he's small, he's stronger than most people his size,
so he'll like rip through your tackle.
I think Taj, if he's healthy,
can go over a thousand total yards this year,
all-purpose yards,
and I think you can put up six total touchdowns
with four coming in the receiving game.
Nick Singleton,
I'm going to go with 350 to 400 rushing yards.
I think he's going to get more work at the end of the year.
I think he is the Titans best power back as well,
so he'll get opportunities just because of that.
but I don't think that he ultimately gets the ball enough to score a bunch of touchdowns.
I'm going to go with two touchdowns for Nick Singleton, 400 yards,
and an exciting finish to the year that has us excited about who he can be for the Titans next season.
Now we go back to defense.
Let's finish things off quickly here.
Cedric Gray, I'm going to go with 120 tackles this year, so a little less than last year,
and three sacks.
I think Cedric Gray is used as a pass rusher quite a bit,
blitzing and stuff like that gets downhill and hits some quarterbacks.
Caldric Falk, three and a half sacks.
I think it's going to come along a little slowly in the sack department,
but Falk can be very helpful as a run defender early on.
Femmy, I'm going to go with two saps.
I just don't think he's going to be advanced enough as a pass rusher
this year to get too many.
And then Alante Taylor, who I talked about before,
two interceptions.
He's going to be physical with guys.
He's going to have ball production,
but I don't think a lot of people are going to test him
when they can test Cordell Flott
or go at a Monty Hooker or one of the linebackers
or something like that. So Alante Taylor,
I'm going to go with two interceptions for him.
But again, excited to see what you guys have put
for your awards,
for your stat predictions.
Those are mine for the year.
Tomorrow, our final mailbag
before the end of the season.
And then starting off next week,
it's game week, and I'm going to have my final
Tennessee Titans record prediction.
So much content coming your way,
make sure that you don't miss out.
That's going to do it.
For me today, though, folks, as always,
I am your host, Tyler Rowland,
and this was Locked on Titans.
