Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Jeffery Simmons DISRESPECTED in NFL Ranking Showing Tennessee Titans Turnaround Desperately Needed
Episode Date: July 2, 2026Jeffery Simmons is the second-best defensive player in the NFL so disrespect is the only thing you can take from his ranking of 83rd in this year's NFL Top 100. Yes the system is flawed and rankings d...on't ultimately matter, but it's a frustratingly insane ranking and further illustrates how the Titans get taxed in any public setting. That is why it is so important they turn things around starting this season. It has been unbearable as a fan for the team to not only be lacking in on-field success, but to also deal with a lack of respect for the players who actually deserve it. Titans fans everywhere need this to change immediately. Finally, one of the big things that has Titans fans excited for this year are the new uniforms, but there is still more to come with Nike dropping their rivalry sets later this summer. We may have gotten a sneak peek though in the form of some shoes. If close in design, the new rivalry uniforms are certain to be a hit. I am absolutely furious at the disrespectful ranking that the NFL gave Jeffrey Simmons
in their top 100 player list.
I'll tell you why I'm so sick and tired of on today's edition of Locked on Titan.
You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked On Podcast Network,
your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans.
Today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast
is brought to you by Fandall.
The biggest stage in world soccer is here.
Let there be goals on Fandle.
Visit fandle.com to get started on today's show.
We're going to talk about a recent leak
that might have tipped us off
to what the Titans alternate uniforms
that they're going to get later in the summer might look like.
I'm going to talk about why I am desperate
for the Tennessee Titans to improve this year.
talk about part of the reason of that.
And it's Jeffrey Simmons
disrespectful ranking
by the NFL in their
top 100 list.
Jeffrey Simmons came in
at number 83.
83!
I'm not kidding you guys.
I am a highly
emotional podcaster.
When I get on here, when I do my content,
I let the emotions flow.
You guys,
know exactly how I'm feeling.
I don't know that I can express to you.
How absolutely angry this makes me.
And I got to tell you, these lists, power rankings, stuff like that,
it doesn't, like, I get annoyed by it,
but it doesn't really make me mad.
Like, I'm like the Hulk.
I'm always angry.
So, like, when I'm actually furious,
that's a, I get to a different level.
When I'm mad about something, I'll yell, rant, and rave.
When I'm actually furious, I actually get a little bit quiet.
Now, I can't do that, but I may not be able to convey how angry.
83 makes me.
Jeffrey Simmons, first team all pro,
the best interior defensive lineman in the NFL,
led the NFL's interior defensive lineman in Sachs last year with 11,
a certified dominant game changer.
83?
You couldn't simulate a Madden fantasy draft a hundred times
and have Jeffrey Simmons go 83rd.
I don't care about positional value,
quarterbacks, wide receivers, offensive tackles,
edge rushers, sure, count them, count them.
You can't get 82 people
that are better than Jeffrey Simmons in the NFL.
As a matter of fact,
I would say that Jeffrey Simmons is top 25
Top 30 and that's being conservative
He's probably top 20
I said it in a little video reaction I made right after
Jeffrey Simmons is closer to number one
than he is 83
period
And it's you know it's not just me being a titans
Homer being biased
go online right now
Anybody who knows football
football. From a national perspective, any blogger, any, you know, the Nate Tice's, the Ben-S-O-Lax, the
but-but-p-p-p-p-p- Anybody's, oh, this ranking doesn't make sense.
It's, and I know, if you look into how they actually do this, they have, like, the players make
like a top-10 list, and then they, so the system is completely flawed, and we do this
every year. It's just when it affects the time. But this is egregious.
probably 50 spots too low.
And I know
what the first comment is going to be.
I know what people are, it's Titans tax.
It's Titans tax.
You know what I mean?
And I get it.
But like,
even with that, again,
even with positional value,
it's a detackle,
it's the Titans.
None of that excuses
it.
None of that excuses getting it this wrong.
This guy was a first team
all a pro. At minimum. At minimum. That's close to 22. Now, I know that, you know,
only a couple of quarterbacks can make it and a lot of quarterbacks will be ahead. But that
almost makes me, that was like, I would take a lot of quarterbacks over Miles Garrett,
but Miles Garrett's probably going to be ranked number one. Miles Garrett's the only defensive
player in the NFL more impactful and better than Jeffrey Simmons right now. The only one.
And you're telling me there's going to be an 82 spot difference between Jeffrey Simmons and Miles Garrett.
Again, it makes me want to rip my hair out.
Like, now, I wouldn't do that.
Don't worry, folks.
Not a chance, baby.
Not a chance.
But it makes me want to, okay?
It gives me thoughts.
The internal intrusive thoughts try to win.
But like, how does that happen?
How does that even happen?
Now, what do you do to fix it?
You know, what do you do to fix?
Well, if you're big Jeff,
keep wreck and shop.
Now, I would say,
let's,
I get so mad.
Let's dream for a moment,
if we will.
If Jeffrey Simmons
were to get 15 sacks next year,
maybe
one defensive player of the year, maybe Miles Garrett,
you know,
Miles Garrett, when he's playing,
playing for the bummy Browns can just go after stats
and break the sack record and be celebrated for it
and everything like that, great.
But when he goes to Los Angeles,
he's already got the sack record,
there's no need to overwork you.
The rent could be up in a bunch of games
where they don't need Miles Garrett to be out there late in the fourth quarter,
so he's not taking full advantage of all the pass rush situations
that they may create as a team, all that.
If Miles Garrett has, you know, 17, 18 sacks,
just a good, you know, great year for most,
but a good year for Miles Garrett.
But Simmons has 15, 16 sacks.
It goes crazy in Robert Sala's defense.
And the Titans defense is awesome.
Maybe he'll get his due.
You know, the only thing that he can do is keep being great,
maybe be even greater and maybe in Robert Salas system,
maybe in Robert's solid system, he can go to that next level.
He may get less snaps, but if he's more efficient,
more stats on the board, more help around him to give him more opportunities.
The Titans defense is really good,
and it's clear that Jeffrey Simmons is leading one of the best units in the NFL.
You have to think that that would propel him up the list.
But it's still, like, it's hard to believe
that Jeffrey Simmons will ever get his proper respect and his proper credit.
listen, I'm just going to say this.
I know a lot of you
don't or say you don't.
I don't believe you.
But a lot of people out there say, oh, none of this matters.
I talk about this a lot, honestly.
All I care about is if they win the games,
win the games, win the games.
And I'm just like, I'm sorry, being a fan is more than just,
you know, the three hours on 18, 17 Sundays in the fall.
Like talking with your friends,
the conversation you see online,
your players getting attention,
the Titans being celebrated,
people showing them respect,
seeing people out at the grocery store,
go Titans, tighten up.
Oh, the Titans, yeah, they're doing good this year.
Oh, man, that Jeffrey Simmons, he's awesome.
But, but, like, all of that stuff is part of being a football fan, too.
You didn't be a football fan.
simply because you wanted to watch the games.
And if that were the case,
what are you doing, listening and reading and watching podcasts?
Clearly, just watching the game for three hours on Sunday,
ain't enough for you.
So already, I don't think you're being 100% honest.
It matters.
I don't want Jeffrey Simmons to be 83rd.
I don't want to have to sit here and talk about the disrespect.
I just want my players to be adequately respected.
And there's no way that you could tell me in the world that it's adequate respect for Jeffrey Simmons.
And I'm sorry, but there's no way in the world you could tell me that you don't care that he's this disrespected.
And there's no way in the world that you can tell me that this is okay.
And that it wouldn't be better.
If Jeffrey Simmons was a, you know, 35th, 30 seconds.
Like, come on.
So it matters to me.
And I'm not ashamed to admit that all of it matters to me.
all of it creates the experience of being a football fan,
which is what I signed up for.
Not just the games.
I like all of it.
And this is frustrating to me.
And I know a lot of you guys out there,
the majority of you, I believe,
feel like me too,
and you're frustrated by it.
But that is why I'm desperate.
I'm a desperate,
fragile man
that needs,
needs more than anything
in the world, like blood, like air in my lungs.
I need the Titans to be better this year.
Do you want to let you know that today's episode is brought to you by Fan Dual Sportsbook.

Titans fans, let's continue today's edition
of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Again, we talked about the disrespect for Jeffrey Simmons.
I am annoyed by it.
I'm so, so frustrated by the ranking,
but the reality is
The reason that Jeffrey Simmons is ranked 83
is because of, like I talked about the last, the Titans tax.
Not a very popular franchise.
Doesn't garner a lot of respect from outside fans.
Not a lot of people watching or paying attention to the Titans
to see their best players do things.
So that's always going to be part of the conversation.
It's always going to be there.
I don't want it to be.
I'm tired of it, Grandpa.
Like, it's time to be.
be better. It's time to improve. It's time to add some legitimacy to the franchise
with a run that people respect for multiple years. And look, if the Titans have a run that I think
deserves respect and they still don't get it, then we'll have that conversation then. But I want
to see that experiment. Let's see the Titans. And let's keep expectations low. Obviously
a Super Bowl championship, boom, legitimacy in a second.
that doesn't.
The Titans' tax will be gone
if they win a Super Bowl.
But a Super Bowl isn't guaranteed
and a lot of teams have great runs
that win in a Super Bowl.
Look at the San Francisco 49ers.
Do you think of the Titans
how to run like the 49ers
with multiple playoff appearances,
multiple Super Bowl appearances,
even if they didn't win
and they had a seven, eight-year run
of they were one of the clear
best teams in the NFL,
best teams in the AFC,
deep in the playoffs, win playoff games,
host playoff games, win divisions,
go to the Super Bowl, play tight in the Super Bowl,
play respectful football and not embarrass themselves.
If you think the Titans had the same exact run
that the 49ers have just had since
they're basically when they got Christian McCaffrey,
however long ago that was.
If the Titans had that kind of run
and didn't get rid of the Titans' tax afterwards,
then fine.
I'll eat crow.
But I want to see it.
I want to see it.
Let's have that moment.
Like, in my childhood,
nobody gave a crap
about the Patriots,
the Bengals.
Now the Patriots and Bengals are two of the most popular teams.
Bengals haven't even been that good the last few years.
They've been missing the playoffs.
But they still are respected
because they went to the Super Bowl.
They've had a good run.
They've beat some good teams.
They beat the Chiefs.
They've done it on the big...
Like, if the Titans do that,
their players are going to be respected.
And again,
I can't take it anymore.
Three wins.
And back-to-back seasons.
You know, we're brave soldiers.
Yes, you.
I'm looking at you.
I'm talking to you.
Right now, you're a brave soldier.
Keep trucking along.
Man, woman,
child dog, chicken hen, I don't care what you are.
If you're listening to this right now, you're a brave soldier and I'm proud of you.
Keep on, keeping on, brother.
But I'm tired of fighting God's greatest battles.
You know what I mean?
As the meme goes.
Like, I'm sick of it.
I can't do another bad season.
I can't do like four, five wins, a bad year.
I can't do it.
I can't. I mean, I will, and I'm going to.
That's how it is.
But seriously, I can't, I can't take it.
They've been too bad.
And it's not just the last two years, the collapse
that they had of 2022
into the season they had in 2023,
then the first year of Callahan,
you get Cam, you're excited, and then boom, terrible again.
Like, it's just been, it's been four years since the Titans
got the number one seed in the AFC.
It's just been four years of misery.
Quite frankly, almost as bad.
I don't think it's quite as bad.
I'll be honest with you.
But that early 2000 teens time period for the Titans,
the ending years of CJ 2K into the early years of Marcus,
13, 14, 15.
I don't know.
I'm way more tapped in now because I cover the team and everything.
But I don't know if it was.
quite as bad as those years. Those were real
dark ages there. But nonetheless,
two straight years
of three wins,
I've had it.
They have to get better.
I can't take Jeffrey Simmons being ranked 83rd anymore.
I can't take
being one of the worst teams in the league
on Locked on NFL, on Friday's show
of Locked on NFL.
Me and my co-host
who is the Locked on Patriots host,
cattle. We rank the worst
six teams in the NFL heading into the
season. Who do we think the worst
six teams aren't? Dolphins,
Browns,
Cardinals, Raiders,
jets.
All for certain. I was making my list
and I was like, okay, that's
the bottom five. Absolutely
the bottom five. Who's number six?
And I looked,
and I looked, and I looked.
And I had no choice.
I had to put the Titans.
Commanders, Giants,
chiefs, colts,
Steelers, maybe they fall off.
There's maybe, like, the Vikings,
could maybe put in the discussion there.
Maybe one of the other NFC North teams
have a fall off like the Packers.
But like, maybe, you know,
I said the commanders already.
I think cowboys maybe have a bad year.
They fall apart.
Like at that point, it is the Titans.
So basically what I'm saying is, I don't know if I could take,
I don't know if I can take them being bottom six again.
If the Titans are one of the worst six teams in the NFL again this year,
I mean, it's going to break a lot of people's spirits, not just me.
That's a lot of losing.
The Titans have won, what was it, 11 games in their last 58,
or they're 11 and 56
in their last
however many games that is, 60s or whatever.
It's something like that.
But like, man,
I think it's 11 wins in their last 58 games.
That's what it is.
But man,
that is tough sledding.
I can't take it anymore.
And it's not just the losing.
It's the way that they've lost.
They have just been a non-competitive team
in a lot of games.
getting smoked by better teams and being embarrassing.
So I am just pleading on my hands and knees to the universe.
Please, football gods, let the Titans win seven games.
I can't take it.
I need something to believe in out here.
It's tough.
But with that being said, if you want to get excited about something,
the Titans, new Nike shoes, I think they're real.
I don't know if they're real.
they're real. Give us a hint
at what their rivalry uniforms.
They're alternates are going to look like.
And my God, they are gorgeous.
Friends fans, let's cap off.
Today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, we talked about the disrespect for Jeffrey Simmons.
We talked about why I am desperate for the Titans to be better.
Now I want to talk about a recent, I don't even know if it's a leak.
I'm so confused by the situation.
But all I know is if the Titans rivalry uniforms look like these Nike shoes,
Oh my God.
They're going to be beautiful.
Now, before we dive into it,
I do want to thank you again for making Locked on Titans.
Your first listen each and every day.
Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round.
Always for free.
Make sure that you get subscribed, stay subscribed.
It's your team every day.
Speaking of every day,
shout out to my everydayers out there.
Tune in Monday through Friday.
Couldn't do it without you guys.
If you aren't an everydayer,
you need to be one next week is AFC South Week.
We're going to rank the position groups in the division on Monday
and Tuesday, and then we're going to have a deep dive into the Titans
division rivals to end off the week.
It's one of my favorite summer weeks of the year.
Every year, AFC South rival week coming next week.
But speaking of rivals,
or wait, join the Locked on Titans Every Day or Club.
Hit the link down below in the description.
Too many things to promote.
But these Titans Nike shoes,
I mean, they are beautiful.
They're beautiful.
So they're AirMax 90s.
I've shared this on all my social media
so if you haven't seen it,
you're not watching on YouTube,
you want to look at them,
just go to any of my social media
and you'll find them.
Google Titan shoes,
they'll probably come up.
But they're Air Max 90s,
which is my favorite Nike shoe of all time.
I love an Air Max 90.
I'm a 90s kid.
They're classic.
I absolutely love them.
Absolutely love an Air Max 90.
But they're mostly Titans Blue
with little
lines of the Titans
Navy blue.
And I know a lot of you Titans fans out there
didn't want the Navy blue to go away.
And this, I think, is a perfect meat in the middle.
The Titans go to the better color palette,
the red, the white, the light blue.
That's unquestionably the best color palette
in the NFL, incredible.
but using the navy blue
as an accent color in the regular jerseys
and then making the navy blue a big part
of your alternate jerseys
is just chef's kiss.
Again, that's the perfect meat in the middle
for fans that still wanted navy blue to be involved.
So the colors, the white, the navy blue, the light blue,
the classic Titans combination of colors,
love that.
And if the jerseys,
Jersey is a combination of the light in the navy blue with white accents
and, you know, maybe just hints of red in there slightly baby hints of red.
That would be so beautiful.
One thing I love about these shoes too is the back, there's the three stars.
It's the dark blue on the outside and then the three Tennessee stars are in the light blue
and it just, it pops so hard.
the light blue stars popped so hard on the navy blue.
It's going to look sick on a jersey.
And then two other little details that I am just in love with.
The inside the tongue of the shoe, there's the number 26,
2006.
They're custom made for Marcus Harris.
But the font of the numbers is different than the font of the Titans jersey numbers.
and if the Titans
use the font
inside the tongue of these shoes
as the number font
and put it with the name font
of their current uniforms,
it is going to look incredible
because it looks like the number font
in my opinion
looks like the type of font
that the Titans' name plates are
on their jerseys.
So it would match perfectly
and the number looks so cool.
It's got an outside border
a thin outside border of navy blue.
The primary bulk of the color is the light blue.
And then there's one white line through the middle of the number,
like on the inside of the number.
It just, it's perfection.
It's perfection.
And then maybe my favorite thing on the front of the tongue,
not the back underneath of the tongue that touches your foot,
but the front of the tongue showing at the top of the shoe,
it says Music City.
The Music City Midnights?
And I hope that the Titans' alternate rivalry uniforms says Music City on the chest instead of Tennessee or Titans.
I think that would be sick.
And I just want this to serve as a reminder.
The Titans rebrand was brilliant.
The change in the colors, the uniform, the new logo, the branding.
it was a stroke of genius.
And it kind of all comes together, right?
Jeffrey Simmons gets disrespected in the rankings
because the Titans are disrespected as a franchise,
but a good way to start hacking away at that
and going out the other side.
It isn't just winning games, it's culturally.
And for the Titans to upgrade their uniforms in this way,
upgrade their logo,
make themselves look cooler
as a team and as a franchise.
Ad Cam Ward,
who's an exciting style of player,
who's a playmaker who makes great highlights.
Jeffrey Simmons, who's the best interior
defensive lineman in the league.
If Carnel Tate can be that deep ball,
big play, wide receiver to go with him,
the Titans start winning games
with a interesting public persona
head coach in Robert Sala.
He has a little bit of pop nationally.
Brian Dable is interesting.
Then they have a good year.
They go into the,
new stadium. Again, everything can change quickly for the Titans.
And then they have that competitive run for the next four, five, six years with
Cam Ward, seven, eight, if we're lucky.
And it totally changes the way that this franchise is viewed.
Part of that, again, it's not just the games. Part of that is rivalry uniforms,
cool shoes. Like, it's all together.
So, again, I'm tired of the disrespect.
I'm desperate for the Titans to improve.
My God, the jerseys, the colors, the rebrand.
A great first step to fix in all of this.
To this problem that is at the center of everything we talked about today.
But with that being said,
4th of July weekend,
go America.
The USA team won. What a game.
Everyone's been praise in America,
all the people visiting America over the
for the World Cup or praise in America.
So 250th anniversary.
USA team's good.
What a lovely time to be alive.
So enjoy your guys this weekend.
Happy holidays.
Be safe, though.
This is one of the more dangerous holidays, in my opinion.
Be safe out there.
Make sure that you keep your ears on
so that you can,
and your eyes intact.
So you can watch and listen
to more locked on Titans
and Titans content that I'm pumping out
in general wherever you need to find it.
But with that being said,
that's going to do it for me today.
folks, as always. I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
