Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Locked On Titans podcast. I'm your host, Tyler Rowland. Titans fans, coming to you late on a Tuesday night. I want to explain why the podcast was not uploaded early this morning for your morning commute as it typically is. And if you follow me on Twitter, at TicTacTitans, you would know that I've been experiencing some pretty crazy dental issues for the past six months. I've mentioned them at times on the podcast as well. I had some more extensive dental work done on Monday, including having a tooth pulled. So
Starting point is 00:00:29 quite frankly, I've just been in some significant pain, especially when talking for extended lengths. It's been difficult. It is difficult. But the pain that I've been experiencing here in the last few days pales into comparison to what took place in Nashville on Monday night with the tragedy of the tornado strike in Nashville in the middle Tennessee area. So what I wanted to do for tonight's podcast, some of you will listen to it on Tuesday night. Some of you will get this on Wednesday morning. I'll have another regular Locked On Titans podcast breaking down all the latest Titans
Starting point is 00:01:04 news for you on Wednesday morning as well. But I wanted to focus today's episode, it's going to be a short one, just on what you can do and what options there are to assist with the relief efforts in Nashville and not just Nashville, but the entire Middle Tennessee area. Tornado can rip a community apart, As we've seen in Nashville, multiple lives are lost. We're at a count now above 20. It's something I'm very familiar with, tornado damage and loss due to tornadoes from my area. So it's something that is near and dear to my heart. And
Starting point is 00:01:39 what I wanted to do was take this opportunity. And I always told myself that if I ever had any kind of platform whatsoever, that I would do everything I can to help those in need. And that's what I want to do today. So instead of our typical Titans-related podcast and talking about football and having a good time, sometimes life is bigger than that. So I want to read to you guys the options that you have to donate,
Starting point is 00:02:06 to volunteer, to buy a t-shirt with the proceeds helping the victims. Just give you guys an updated list of those who are in the market and maybe some of you who are out of the market who just love the city of Nashville and the joy that the Tennessee Titans have brought you and give you an opportunity to help out in any way possible. I think whether or not we are from Nashville, whether or not you're from Tennessee personally, these are fellow human beings who are struck with tragedy and could use our assistance nonetheless. So I don't get too deep. I don't get too political. I don't focus on things outside of football very much, but I did want to take a few moments here to tell you guys how you can help out with the relief efforts so first things first you can find all of this
Starting point is 00:02:50 information at onthe4check.com it is the website for the SB Nation blog for the Predators they are compiling a list of all the ways that that you can help out So I just want to give you guys all of the ways off of that list as well. You can go to NashvilleTNStore.com and pick up one of their I Believe in Nashville shirts and 100% of the proceeds will be going to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Kentucky is helping out as well. Shop local Kentucky. Their site TheKYShop.com is selling Nashville Forever t-shirts, and 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:03:32 The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has also activated an emergency response fund. Feel free to go donate there to their website as well. Looking at the American Red Cross of Tennessee, they are actually not accepting financial donations at this time, but they are asking for members of the community to donate blood if they can. It'll be important at this moment in time. The Community Resource Center will be accepting donations. They're also looking for things like hygiene items, cleaning supplies, bleach, trash bags, gloves, box cutters, any items like that that could assist
Starting point is 00:04:06 the victims of this terrible tragedy. There's been an impromptu bottled water drive at the Centennial Sportsplex. It's an emergency shelter that's currently open on 222 2nd Avenue North. Volunteers, if you're looking to volunteer the hands-on nashville website has a registration page for anyone looking to volunteer their time to help with recovery efforts the website has been slow on this tuesday guys due to everybody trying to help out but that's a good problem to have if you are in need of any assistance or shelter yourself you can find that in middle tenn, anywhere at these locations. The one I mentioned before, Centennial Sportsplex at 222 2nd Avenue North. Also, East Magnet High
Starting point is 00:04:53 School near Five Points. That's 110 Gallatin Avenue. The Victory Baptist Church in Mount Juliet. That's at 1777 Tate Lane. And also at 11 a.m. this morning, the Nashville Predators opened Bridgestone Arena to anybody who was displaced by last night's storm. So you love to see that. Also, Nissan Stadium is being considered to be opened for the relief efforts. The Nashville Humane Society has pet supplies, crates, foods, blankets, leashes, anything like that if you are an animal owner or you see any animals that are in need. I wanted to wrap things up with a quote from the controlling owner of the Tennessee Titans, Amy Adams Strunk. Quote, we extend our deepest sympathies to those families who lost loved ones in the tornadoes last night and are heartbroken to see the damage across Nashville and Tennessee. Ultimately, this is a very difficult time for everyone involved. Even if you aren't directly from the area, you may have family, friends, co-workers, anyone there.
Starting point is 00:06:06 A tornado destroys the infrastructure of a city. It takes lives. It takes years and years of time and effort to rebuild things the way they were, and often things never truly go back to the way they were. So at this moment in time, the last thing that I want to say to you guys is just love the people around you. Be courteous, a smile, a hug, a handshake, a helping hand. Anything like that when people are at their lowest can mean a lot more than we realize. So whether or not you were affected personally, whether or not you're from the area, please
Starting point is 00:06:38 consider donating. Please consider trying to help in any way that you can. And if you are someone who was impacted by the tornadoes, if you are on the ground there in Middle Tennessee, our thoughts and our well wishes are with you guys. And obviously, any positive thoughts that you have, please send them that way. So sorry to bring you guys such a sullen version of the podcast, but I felt it was very important guys such a sullen version of the podcast, but I felt it was very important to take this time and let people know what they can do to help as we need all hands on deck to help repair the damage done to Middle Tennessee. So I hope all of you guys are safe and I'm hoping for the best for
Starting point is 00:07:15 everyone. Please consider donating. Please consider volunteering if you have the ability. That is going to do it for my conversation with you guys today. Like I said, I will have another Locked on Titans podcast up for you on Wednesday morning along with this one so we can get back into the swing of talking football and taking our mind off of some of the issues that we do have in real life. So thank you guys for joining me and I will talk to you shortly.
