Welcome to a Locked on Titans postcast.
The Titans lost their fifth straight game.
It looks like they are a broken team right now.
Let's talk about what happened in this loss on a Week 16 Locked on Titans postcast.
Let's get it.
You are Lock locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked On Podcast
Network, your team every day. Titans fans, we got one step closer to the left tackle of the future.
Say it with me.
Left tackle of the future.
Left tackle of the future.
All jokes aside, guys, the Titans lost their fifth straight
game in a row. They have completely fallen apart. They're a broken football team. I would venture
to say the Tennessee Titans are the worst football team in the entire NFL right now.
The Titans are the worst football team in the NFL as they currently stand right now. It's pretty crazy.
I see, Jorge, I'm with you, embarrassing, infuriating, heartbreaking.
How much do we have to endure?
Two more weeks.
Two more weeks.
Because as of today, the Tennessee Titans have given the division lead away
to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And I don't know about you guys, but I have a hard time believing that the Titans will
beat the Jaguars in the last week of the season.
A hard time believing that that would happen.
So we're getting closer.
We're getting closer here.
Let's dive into this game a little bit.
Just talk about some of the things that stood out to me here.
Before we do, I want to thank you guys again for making the Locked on Titans podcast your
first to listen every day, Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content for free
all year round.
And it's going to be a crazy off season.
So I'm going to have Monday through Friday content for you for free on Locked on Titans
throughout the entire off season.
Make sure you subscribe on whatever platform you do stream.
But yeah, number one, the reality of the situation here is
the Titans have maybe the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL.
You add that to the worst offensive line in the NFL.
You add that to Malik Willis simply not being ready to be an NFL
quarterback. I mean, it's tough for the Titans to win. They even had a shot here. The Titans were
driving and these are the kinds of things that just kill you. You're driving. You got a chance
to go up. You're winning 14 to 10. You got an opportunity to go down and put the game away.
And your best player fumbles the ball.
I mean, the coaching is hard to overcome.
The offensive line is hard to overcome.
The unready rookie quarterback is hard to overcome.
But you're not going to overcome your best player dropping the ball on the ground.
What is it?
Five straight weeks in a row now,
Henry's had a fumble. He's fumbled six times. Three of them he's lost. I'm not going to sit here and say Derrick Henry's fumbles are the worst problem. I'm just saying when all the other issues
you have are in front of you, it's nearly impossible to do it when Derrick Henry is also
fumbling the ball. Like, you know, I just want to say,
guys, what can Malik Willis do right now?
Malik Willis can use his legs.
He can complete short passes that are schemed up for him.
Someone tell me why the Titans ran one RPO,
which Malik completed.
The Titans ran, what, Two, three read options.
The Titans ran two times a play action fake to
Derrick Henry where Malik Willis was able to get on the move and get out of the pocket
and dump it off into the flat to a tight end. The Titans
are trying to use Malik Willis like he's Ryan Tannehill.
Even if Malik Willis was fully prepared to be an NFL quarterback,
you would never want to use him like you would use Ryan Tannehill.
You would never have the same offense with Ryan Tannehill
as you would with Malik Willis.
So why does the coaching staff continue to do this to Malik Willis?
Malik Willis didn't play great, okay, but this offensive
line is terrible. Malik got sacked four times. Ryan Tannehill would have died behind this offensive
line. The Titans were better off with Malik in this game, even with Ryan Tannehill being a
significantly better player right now, because Tannehill couldn't have operated behind the
offensive line. Malik was running for his life all day. So we have a terrible offensive line, which is, let's do this. The first problem,
the biggest problem is Todd Downing is not an NFL offensive coordinator. Todd Downing is not an NFL
offensive coordinator. That's the biggest problem the Titans offense has is Todd Downing. Number two,
it's the offensive line, which gave
up four sacks and consistent pressure
all day long. Malik was running for his life.
Number three,
they have a rookie quarterback who
is not quite ready to be an NFL
quarterback. And that's why Malik Willis needed
a red shirt year.
And then you add four, Derek Henry
dropping the ball all over the ground all the time.
It's just impossible.
It's impossible.
And the defense wasn't even that terrible today.
The Texans have been playing good football recently.
And the Titans defense held them to 19.
And it would have been 16 if not for the fumble
where Derrick Henry gave them three points.
So, once again, for me,
a lot of the season comes down to injuries on defense
and Todd Downing on defense, or on offense.
And it's just too much to overcome.
But I'm going to give out my game ball
and we're going to talk about a Titans rookie
who had a pretty good day.
Dr. Gibby, Jack Gibbons at linebacker.
Probably one of the biggest bright spots out of this performance.
So we're going to talk a little bit of positivity here in just a moment.
Before we do, I do want to get a little serious with you guys for a moment.
Did you know that driving high is considered driving under the influence?
That's right.
Driving under the influence of marijuana is against the law in every state,
even in states where marijuana is legal.
That means driving high could get you a DUI.
And if you think law enforcement officers can't tell when you're driving high, you're wrong.
Your friends can tell. Your co-workers can tell.
Even your parents can tell. Everyone can tell.
So what makes you think that law enforcement officers don't know when you're driving high?
Driving under the influence of marijuana can slow your response time
and change how you perceive time and speed.
So even if you think you're fine to drive when you're high,
you're not because the bottom line is if you feel different,
you drive different, and driving high is driving under the influence.
So remember, drive high, get a DUI paid for by NHTSA.

Just kind of broke down all the issues on offense.
Again, four sacks on Malik Willis.
Tough out there.
Did an okay job in run blocking.
You got to give him credit there.
The Titans ran for 184 yards.
Unfortunately, they needed a little bit more.
I thought that Derrick Henry had a good chance to run for 150 yards.
The Titans needed to go over 200 rushing yards as a team.
If they would have done that,
they probably would have been in position to win the game at some point.
So, unfortunate there.
But I did want to at least take a moment.
Look, guys.
I know this sucks,
but I think it's actually for the best.
I think that, like I said at the beginning of the show,
the Titans got closer to the left tackle of the future.
Okay?
The Titans got closer to the left tackle of the future today.
It's in the best interest for the Titans to lose out at this point.
Tannehill's not coming back.
This team is not winning a playoff game,
even if they magically found a way to beat Jacksonville in Week 18.
We know that.
What is important right now is getting the best draft pick possible
for the Titans so they can get a left tackle or get alignment.
That's what's best right now.
And with the good offensive tackles that are going to be in this draft,
very important that the Titans lose these last few games.
That's what needs to happen now.
We know, I said a couple of weeks ago,
if the Titans can get healthy on, or in general, if the Titans can get healthy,
I think they could still win a game in the playoffs.
But they aren't.
Tannehill is out for the season.
NPF left the game today.
Zach Cunningham got brought back from IR.
He's gone.
He went out during the game too.
Bud Dupree.
Bud Dupree, baby.
Everybody's favorite player, Bud Dupree
out, left
the game questionable with a chest injury.
So this team isn't going to get healthy enough
to compete. They're going to have
no rhythm even if they got healthy.
This season is over. This season
is done.
Need to lose as many games as possible
so that the Titans can get a good
offensive lineman in the draft.
It's point blank period.
The last thing that I want to say is
I do want to hold up my end of the bargain.
Be positive here.
Jack Gibbons.
Dr. Gibby.
Eight tackles.
A pass deflection.
Had an interception.
He had a damn good game out there.
We'll talk more about him
when we talk tighten up and tighten down
on tonight's full recap.
But Dr. Gibby, you get my game ball.
It was tough to find somebody to give it to, but you get it.
Jack Gibbons, undrafted free agent linebacker.
Congratulations.
That's the high point.
That's the positive side of things is Jack Gibbons played okay.
I thought he was pretty terrible in run defense,
but he made some plays out there, so we got to find something.
But I'm going to be back with you guys later on tonight
to do my full 30-minute recap.
I'm going to post that show either later on this evening
or I might post it early tomorrow morning so you have it on Christmas.
Either way, guys, regardless of what the Titans are doing or not doing now,
I hope you guys have a happy holidays and a Merry Christmas.
You stay safe and warm out there.
Treacherous weather all over the country.
This team's broken, and we all need to look forward to an insane offseason
where hopefully Mike Vrabel cuts the cord and tears this thing down
and they try to build
it back up with a brand new core because this version
of the Titans is officially
dead. The window's closed
and hopefully they lose their last few games
so we can get even closer to
Broderick Jones or Paris
Johnson, Peter Skowronski,
one of the really good offensive tackles in the draft
because that's what needs to happen next. That's going to
do it for me today, though, guys.
Merry Christmas.
Stay safe out there.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland,
