Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Robert Saleh FAST & VIOLENT Tennessee Titans Plan, Daboll's Staff is Complete & This Ain't Callahan

Episode Date: January 29, 2026

Robert Saleh finally spoke at his opening press conference as Tennessee Titans head coach and "FAST & VIOLENT' was the theme of the day. Saleh spoke about Cam Ward, Jeffery Simmons and Brian Daboll in... the process. While it was all nice to hear, the reality is Saleh's crew has to prove it on the field or all the words mean nothing. Brian Daboll's offensive coaching staff is essentially complete after we got the news that Shea Tierney, Carmen Bricillo and Greg Lewis will be joining Luke Stocker and Randy Jordan. While it is fair to be skeptical, this does look like a fantastic group that can get the best out of Cam Ward and crew. It also shifts the attention to the defensive side of the ball where Robert Saleh has yet to confirm his full group. Finally, some in the fan bases and fans of other teams seem to be using excitement about Brian Callahan as a reason to tell Titans fans not to be excited about Saleh, but a quick look at the differences in the experience level of the two staffs dispels that critique and should keep the excitement level just as high as it should be. Starting point is 00:00:00 Fast and violent. That's Robert Salas' plan for the Tennessee Titans, and that's exactly what Titans fans should want to hear. You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked On Podcast network, your team every day. Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast. If you're a new customer bet just $5 and you'll get $200 in bonus bets if you win on today's show. We are going to break down all of the awesome stuff that Robert Sala had to say in his opening press conference and I hope that you guys don't have a lot of walls around you
Starting point is 00:00:58 because you're about to run through them. Also, we got big time news. on Brian Dable's offensive coaching staff. It is essentially complete, and I'll tell you who on that coaching staff, I think, is Brian Dable's successor. Also, I'm going to tell you why this ain't Brian Callahan's coaching staff and why you shouldn't let the haters knock down your excitement.
Starting point is 00:01:20 Before we get into all of it, I do want to thank you for making Locked-on Titans. Your first listen each and every day. Remember, Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round, always for free. You're not going to beat that anywhere else. sure that you get subscribed, stay subscribed. It's your team every day. Speaking of every day, shout out to my everydayers out there. Tuning in Monday through Friday, couldn't do it without you guys.
Starting point is 00:01:43 If you aren't an everydayer, you got to be when nobody is bringing the heat with the Titans content like I do, whether it's here on Locked on Titans, the film channel TikTok Titans all day, every day, I got you covered again. Make sure you stay locked in with the Locked on Titans podcast. But with that being said, again, Robert Sala has. me ready to run through a wall from the very jump of his press conference. I mean, this is exactly, exactly what Tennessee Titans fans should be wanting to hear. And they asked Robert Sulla what he wants the Tennessee Titans to be known for. And my God, did he knock it out of the park with the answer?
Starting point is 00:02:22 He said this, quote, fast and violent. Play in, play out. We are going to play with speed. We are going to play with confidence and we're going to play with some swag. Talk a little crap. I want to show who they are. Play in and play out. The one thing you'll notice is the speed at which we play and the violence in which we do it.
Starting point is 00:02:49 They're going to pop off the tape. You're going to feel like you're on the field with the energy, the juice, the speed, the violence sitting on your couch. you should be able to feel this football team. And my God, I felt that, Robert Sala. I felt that. I mean, I told myself, I'm not going to get too hype. It's just a press conference. Coaches can't win or lose football games with the press conference.
Starting point is 00:03:17 But, man, I couldn't hear that from Robert Sala and not get absolutely fired up. And the best thing about it was, it wasn't just us watching the press conference. It wasn't just the media asking the questions. The players. were so many Tennessee Titans players who came to the press conference. And look, I can't remember two years ago how many players came to
Starting point is 00:03:39 Brian Callahan's press conference or anything like that. But here's a quick list of the players and coaches who were at Robert Salas press conference. Cam Ward, Elyke-Iomanner, Jackson Slater, Kevin Winston, Jeffrey Simmons, Morgan Cox, Kelle Mullings, Julius Chestnut, J.C. Latham. Jalen Harold, Tage Spears, Femi, Ola, Dejo and Tony Oden and Randy Jordan were present as well. Listen. This team is so ready. These guys are so ready to be led. They are so ready to have a great head coach who they can believe in, who believes in them. This team, this organization, this fan base wants nothing more to have a guy that they can believe in. And look, again, you can't win or lose games with the press conference.
Starting point is 00:04:30 That's not how it looks, works. But just looking at Robert Sala, seeing the way he interacted with people, the way that he speaks, the type of words that he says, it's just so obvious how much of a magnetic leader this guy is. And it's not like we're just making it up out of thin air. Every single former player that has ever spoke about Robert Sala has said the exact same things, whether it be his players in the New York Jets, whether it be Pete Warner and the San Francisco 49ers, Niners unanimously across the board. The feeling that you get when you watch Robert Sala speak is the feeling that these other people who have actually been around him have described. So it's not like I'm just making it up from watching a press conference on YouTube. People who have actually been coached by this man say the exact same things that we are all feeling right now when watching him speak. I mean absolutely had me fired up and again one of the players in attendance was Cam Ward and I thought what Robert Sondon Cala had to say about Cam Ward was awesome.
Starting point is 00:05:30 He said, quote, Cam from everything I've gathered, all the discussion I've had throughout the building and the league comes with an elite work ethic, elite character, elite person. When you look at his body of work as a rookie, a lot of these rookies come in in the middle of OTAs. The biggest thing we are going to work with Cam is going all the way back to the beginning,
Starting point is 00:05:51 both on the field and off the field. That process. What it looks like not only to be a professional with regard to preparation in his body. But professionalism in regards to a game planning standpoint, just work. I talked with Dave's, Brian Daible, over the last few weeks, he is the perfect man to match up with Cam to maximize who he is. We are pumped to work with Cam and get him to where we know he can be.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Now, there's a little comment in there about professionalism with preparation in your body that I said something on Twitter a couple of weeks ago Everybody got mad at me, which is what happens quite often. But the point that I'm making here is Cam can take more steps. Can be can, can, can, can, can, can, can, can be even better. And Robert Salas' leadership and Brian Dable's leadership is what is going to bring it out of him.
Starting point is 00:06:49 And speaking of Brian Dable, I thought some of the comments about Brian Dable were absolutely fantastic. This is what Robert Sala had to say about Dable, who he calls Dabes, which kind of reminds me of raves, but whatever. Dabes and I have a tremendous relationship dating back to our time in New York, obviously on opposite sidelines, but great empathy for one another. Just going through those experiences, whenever you look at the dynamics of a head coach with his offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator,
Starting point is 00:07:17 obviously it's no different than the way Kyle kind of handled me as a D.C. There is full autonomy with game planning, putting together the playbook and the scheme that's best for this set of players. But at the same time, there will always be discussion in terms of what it's going to take between the offense, defense, special teams, what type of game plan we need to formulate in all three phases to win a football game. The communication, the collaborations, the expectations will be communicated amongst the entire staff. The idea being, while there is three phases to football, we are one team.
Starting point is 00:07:54 And I love what he said there about full. autonomy for Brian Dable. He's not going to micromanage Brian Dable and tell him what plays to call and what he wants to see and both. Let Brian Dable run the offense just like Kyle Shanahan, let Robert Sala run the defense. The reality is, guys, when you were at this high of a level, when you were at as high of a level as an NFL head coach, you have to delegate. If anybody has ever been a leader in anything, you know that trusting your people in delegating those responsibilities is absolutely critical because one man One man cannot do as much as maybe some fans think a head coach is supposed to do.
Starting point is 00:08:31 You simply cannot run everything in a micromanagement style at the NFL level. You have to trust your guys. And again, I absolutely loved what he had to say. And remember, Brian Daible is going to run the Earhart Perkins system, an offensive system that was made popular by Tom Brady, or made popular in the 70s by Earhart and Perkins, but made more modernized and more popular by the New England Patriots. Peyton Manning, I gave you a full breakdown on yesterday's show.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Ain't nobody out here doing Titans content like me if you listen to yesterday's show. Not a chance. But with that being said, they asked Robert Sala about like, hey, is it going to be hard to replace Brian Dable considering he's running this certain specific scheme? And Robert Sala said, 80 to 90% of the NFL right now is running Kyle Shanahan stuff. 80 to 90% of the NFL is running that scheme which is going to make the Titans more difficult to game plan for
Starting point is 00:09:32 that's exactly what Robert Salas said he said hey if 80 to 90% of the NFL is running this then you're going to have to do a totally new game plan when you go against our offensive scheme and that made it more enticing to him to get Brian Daibow in here I love that answer we don't want teams to be able to carry over stuff from playing the same fricking offense the Kyle Shanahan scheme
Starting point is 00:09:54 and Sean McVeigh scheme that we've seen all the time. No, we're going to make it even more difficult on them by forcing them to game plan for something that they don't see every week. And I think that that is a great perspective and a great point by Robert Sala that has me even more fired up for Brian Dable. And listen, speaking of Brian Dable,
Starting point is 00:10:14 his offensive staff is essentially complete and there is some concern about what happens when Brian Dable gets hired to be a head coach after the season. And I think I know what the plan is if that does take place. We'll talk about that. Plus, Brian Dables coaching staff right now.

We broke down some of my favorite quotes from Robert Sala in his press conference. But he talked about Brian Dable and why Brian Dable was a perfect fit with Cam Ward. I talked about that, but I want to talk about something else that he had to say about Brian Daible
Starting point is 00:13:16 that I thought was very interesting. And a lot of people are worried about, well, what happens when Brian Daible leaves after the year to go be a head coach? When he gets another head coaching opportunity, are the Titans going to be able to keep the same system from Cam Ward? How is there going to be any kind of continuity for Cam Ward if Daible is running this unique system that not a lot of people run and then he leaves? That is a fair concern. but I'm telling you, listening to Robert Sala made me way less concerned and I think I know what the plan is. So, Robert Sala was asked and there were some great questions asked.
Starting point is 00:13:50 You guys know, I'll call it out when I see BS. I'll call it out every time. But when I see great questions asked in the media, I'm going to call that out too. And Paul Khorstki and Tehran Davenport asked excellent questions. What are you going to do with Cam Ward? What's the succession plan when Brian Dable gets hired? T.D. asked about the Earn Hardin.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Perkins system. Great questions there from some of the best beat guys that the Titans have. But when asked about the succession plan, Robert Sala talked about developing coaches. And he had an interesting comment when he said, basically, when we start to announce more of the offensive staff guys, when that starts to go public, I think it'll be more obvious what our plan is. We have some guys on the staff that we really like to develop. And let me tell you this. Two guys instantly come to my mind, but one guy in particular really stands out.
Starting point is 00:14:45 So the Titans have recently hired quarterback coach who's been with Brian Dable in Buffalo and then in New York, Shea Tierney, okay? He could be an option to keep that Brian Dable system going because he's been with Brian Dable for, you know, five or six years. But the guy who I really think is next in line is Luke Stalker. Luke Stalker was on the staff last year,
Starting point is 00:15:10 tight end coach. And Luke Stalker has been credited with fixing the Titans run game at the end of the season. When the Titans had their run game renaissance that started with the Cleveland Browns game and went with San Francisco and throughout the rest of the season,
Starting point is 00:15:24 the Titans run game got significantly better at the end of the year. And the word is on the street that it was Luke Stocker who got put in charge of the run game after Bill Callagher. hand left and that's why the Titans run game improves so much. Luke Stocker, former tight end, and this shouldn't be a shock to anybody.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Tight end coaches are typically fantastic offensive coordinators. Sean McVeigh was a tight end coach. And why are tight end coordinators or tight end coaches so good at becoming offensive coordinators? It's because the tight ends are involved with the run game and the past game. So the tight end coach is intimately involved with the run game and the The past game planning of both of those, how to operate both of those. Remember, who is the best, the best offensive coordinator of the last 15 years of Tennessee Titans football?
Starting point is 00:16:20 The answer is Arthur Smith. Who was Arthur Smith coaching before he got a chance to be the offensive coordinator? Answer, daily double. Tight ends. There you go. Tight end coaches are ideally suited. to be offensive coordinator. So when people worry about the Brian Dable's succession plan and what's gonna happen when he leaves,
Starting point is 00:16:40 to me, it is clear that it's either Shea Tierney, but I would imagine if Brian Dable goes to a new team to be a head coach, Tierney is gonna be his offensive coordinator. But Luke Stocker is the guy in the background and listen, there was another quote that Robert Sala had at the end of the press conference that I think not only Titans fans should pay attention to, but it should shut up some people out there as well. He said, I gotta give credit to Amy Adam Strunk.
Starting point is 00:17:08 She put her money where her mouth is. What does that mean? Amy Adam Strunk not only paid Robert Sala a pretty penny. She paid Brian Daibble as one of the highest paid offensive coordinators in the NFL. And not only that, but she paid up to make sure that they were able to get the staff that they wanted, including bringing Luke Stocker back. I think that comment right there she put her money where her mouth is
Starting point is 00:17:35 that's not just a euphemism that's not just an analogy no Robert Sala is literally telling you Amy Adams Strunk pulled out the checkbook and paid what she had to pay to create the best coaching staff possible and make sure not only did they bring over new good coaches like
Starting point is 00:17:51 Brian Daibble and his guys but keeping good coaches in the building like Luke Stocker who is on his way to being an offensive coordinator So that's my that's my little my little theory on who Robert Salas talking about
Starting point is 00:18:07 and he said once we start to announce these offensive coaches you're going to see the plan also so I think we know what's going on there but with that being said again I want to talk about the big news that happened last night because Brian Daible's offensive coaching staff
Starting point is 00:18:24 is basically complete essentially at this point in time now they're going to be offensive quality control coaches and assistance to the coaches and everything like that. But we know that Luke Stocker is gonna stay on as the tight end coach. And I wouldn't be surprised if he was also named the run game coordinator as well to get an additional title in there. But we also know that Randy Jordan, the running backs coach, is gonna stay along.
Starting point is 00:18:49 But the Titans also added Shea Tierney, who I mentioned before, gonna be quarterback coach, Brian Dables' top lieutenant in New York and in Buffalo. They also got Greg Lewis, the wide receiver coach, who coached with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2017 to 2022. Tyreek Hill, anybody developed him. Then went to the Baltimore Ravens in 2003 to 2025. Zay Flowers. Anybody? Bang.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Okay, those are pretty good pelts on the wall to work with those speed receivers right there, especially when the Titans need speed desperately. So, outside of those two, the biggest tire of them all, Carmen Bracillo. And I have had multiple people from New York media reach out to me to praise Carmen Bracillo, the offensive line coach.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I have had a ton of New York Giants fans in my comments, non-stop saying, man, you guys got a good one. Carmen Bracillo is one of the best offensive line coaches in the entire NFL in look. If you're having PTSD right now as a Titans fan, I totally understand. because we heard that about Bill Callahan.
Starting point is 00:20:02 So, absolutely. But let me just tell you this. Carmen Bracillo, well respected in the NFL as one of the top five, top three best offensive line coaches in the league. Last year, he took the New York Giants' offensive line that had been rough before that and turned them into a pretty good unit. Last year, they were top 10
Starting point is 00:20:24 in pass blocking grade on pro football focus. 71.1 grade. They were 11th in ESPN's pass block win rate, 65%. So a top 10, top 12 pass blocking unit. They were 18th in run block win rate, 71%. And they were fifth in total rushing yards in the NFL, 21.95. So the New York Giants were a bottom five team in the NFL, but were a top five rushing attack.
Starting point is 00:20:57 And that's going to be critical with Brian Dable's multiplicity in the run game. It's going to be critical that they helped Cam Ward. And if you want to compare that, the Giants were 11th and past block win rate. The Titans were 16th. That's an offensive line that with better coaching can go to the next level. The Titans were 26th and run block win rate. Again, the Giants 18th. That's a big jump.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Okay? He worked with the Raiders in 2022 and 2023. The Raiders went 8 and 9. in 2022. They were a pretty good team. He worked with the Patriots from 2019 to 2021. Carmen Bracillo is an absolute stud of an offensive line coach. So we have Brian Daible running the unit.
Starting point is 00:21:42 We have Shay Tierney at quarterback coach. We have Randy Jordan at running back coach. We have Greg Lewis at wide receiver coach. We have Luke Stocker at tight end coach. And we have Carmen Bracillo at offensive line coach. I mean, that's a pretty good unit. And listen, I can already hear the haters. I can already hear the crybaby doomsday Titans fans.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Wah, wah, wah. I can already hear the trolls from other teams because you've got giants and Jets fans in here crying all the time about everything. I can hear you crying and I don't care. You should be excited even if you were also excited about Brian Callahan. Because this ain't Brian Callahan's coaching staff and I'm going to tell you why it's very, very, very, different. Do want to let you guys know that today's episode is brought to you by Indeed. Talked about Brian Dable's offensive coaching staff and who I think is the successor. for Brian Daible. Now, I want to talk about why this coaching staff
Starting point is 00:24:18 is different from Brian Callahan's coaching staff and why I don't care what the trolls and the haters have to say. I am excited for Robert Salas coaching staff and you're not going to bully me off of it. But before we dive in, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans your first listen each and every day. It's basically a cup of coffee every month and you're really going to take your Titans experience to the next level. But with that being said,
Starting point is 00:25:32 this coaching staff ain't like Brian Callahan's coaching staff. And look, I get it. I said it in a short video earlier today. I was excited about Brian Cahillian. Callahan's coaching staff. I called it an all-star staff. I called it a perfect staff. I called it all perfect fits, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:25:49 And I was wrong about Brian Callahan. I was wrong. But here's a reality you need to accept. Randy Jordan, still on the staff. Luke Stocker, still on the staff. Bill Callahan already hired to the Atlanta Falcons. Dernard Wilson already hired by the New York Giants to be their defensive coordinator. A ton of other Tennessee Titans coaches on Brian Callahan staff
Starting point is 00:26:12 immediately like that, went and got jobs or kept their job, like Tony Oden, defensive backs coach. So, yeah, Brian Callahan didn't work, but that was a pretty good coaching staff, and all those dudes went out and got jobs immediately once they got let go from the Titan. So, you know, I don't feel like I'm so wrong with that, but there's one critical difference here.
Starting point is 00:26:36 There's one critical difference here that I think, I don't care what the trolls or the haters or anybody has to say, you should absolutely be over the moon about Robert Silas coaching staff. And here's the big difference. How many plays, how many years of experience in play calling did Brian Callahan have when he got the head coaching job in the NFL? Zero is the answer. How many years of play calling experience did DeNard Wilson have
Starting point is 00:27:06 before he got the job with the Titans? Zero. How many years of play calling experience? experience did Cole Anderson have on special teams in the NFL when he got the Titans job? Answer? Zero. So, between Brian Callahan, Dernard Wilson, and Cole Anderson, that's a collective zero years of NFL play calling experience. Now, let's do that with Robert Sala's coaching staff.
Starting point is 00:27:38 Robert Sala, how many years of defensive play calling experience? 9. Brian Dable, how many years of offensive coordinator play calling experience? Or just play calling in general. 12. Bones Fosser. How many years of play calling experience
Starting point is 00:27:58 on special teams? 18. Quick math for you. That's 39 years of collective play calling experience compared to Sero. for Brian Callahan's staff.
Starting point is 00:28:13 If you don't think that that deserves a level of excitement, shut up. That's what I got to say. So yeah, Brian Callahan didn't work out. Sure, you got me. I was excited. You got me. But if you think that I'm not going to notice the difference
Starting point is 00:28:30 between what Robert Salah has done and the experience that his coaching staff has and the collective experience that Brian Callahan's staff brought to the table, then you're a fool. Why would any Titans fan not be fired up looking at the difference and experience? Why would you not be over the moon
Starting point is 00:28:49 about that difference and experience? That was exactly the problem. Not only did Brian Callahan and most of his play callers have zero experience and they're learning everything for the first time. But think about the people that they hired. Brian Callahan had never worked with Nick Holtz at the NFL level.
Starting point is 00:29:07 They were together in college one time. Bill Callahan, who was the run game coordinator, had never worked with his son before. Tate Tolbert's another guy who went out and got hired immediately from Brian Callahan's staff. I still contend Brian Callahan's coaching staff outside of Cole Anderson, Nick Holtz, was a very good coaching staff.
Starting point is 00:29:28 It's just when the head coach is terrible, it doesn't matter how good the assistants are. That would be my argument to defend myself, I guess. But again, Nick Holt, Brian Callahan, Bill Callahan. None of those dudes had ever worked together before in the NFL. Dernard Wilson had called plays and worked with a couple of people on his defensive staff
Starting point is 00:29:51 at previous stops from Baltimore and New York and Philly. But they had never worked with Dernard Wilson when Dinnard Wilson was the one calling the plays. And Cole Anderson, what a joke. I mean, what are we doing there? But like, the point of a Nick Holt for Brian Callahan is Nick Holtz has to teach Brian Callahan's offense to the players. And like Robert Salah's defensive coordinator hire,
Starting point is 00:30:22 whenever we get news on that, which I would imagine, we're going to get news pretty soon on that. I think it's going to be Mike Ruttenberg from the Atlanta Falcons. But regardless, the point of a coordinator when the head coach is the play caller is they are a glorified teacher. to know the scheme as well as the head coach does. Nick Holtz needed to know Brian Callahan's scheme as well as Brian Callahan
Starting point is 00:30:50 so that he could teach it to his players. The O-line coach needed to know the scheme as well as the head coach to teach it to the players. Nick Holtz and Bill Callahan had never worked with Brian Callahan before. They were learning the scheme for the first time just like Brian Callahan was running it. for the first time. So there is no built-in experience. Everything was brand new. That ain't the case with Brian Daible. Shea Tierney, been with Brian Daible for six or seven years.
Starting point is 00:31:23 He knows Brian Daibble's system as well as Brian Daible does, and he has experience teaching it to his players. Carmen Bracillo has been working with Brian Daible before, came from the Patriot system that Brian Daible came from, coached with him in New York last year. This isn't like, oh, Brian Dable has to explain his run game and his past blocking scheme to Carmen Bracillo so that he can then deliver that to the players. No, he already knows it.
Starting point is 00:31:54 That wasn't the case with Brian Callahan's offensive staff. And then go on defense. Aaron Whitecotton worked with Robert Sala in Jacksonville, worked with Robert Sala in San Francisco, worked with Robert Sala in New York. Hopefully, they bring it. Mike Ruttenberg from the Falcons who has worked with Robert Salah
Starting point is 00:32:16 at all those different places as a linebacker coach. White Cotton is the defensive line coach. Tony Odin has worked with Robert Sala before. New York Jets. So it's not like DeNard Wilson has to teach his coaching staff what his scheme is. Brian Callahan has to teach his coaching staff
Starting point is 00:32:34 what his scheme is. And then they have to teach it to the players. No. That's already taken care of. They know what Brian Dable expects. know what Robert Sala expects. So not only the collective play calling experience difference of Robert Sala's coordinators compared to Brian Callahan's system,
Starting point is 00:32:52 but also the collective experience that the position coaches have within their coordinator's scheme, it's just night and day total difference. So again, you can get in my comments and say, oh, you like the Brian Callahan hire. You like Brian Callahan staff. You guys, you guys listening right now is Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:33:12 Titans fans. You can see people, oh, this staff, blah, blah, blah. You guys like Brian. You got the same people saying the same crap to you. The trolls, the haters, the scrubs. But if you think that the collective experience and connection of Brian Callahan's coaching staff is anything close to what we're getting with Robert Salas,
Starting point is 00:33:38 you're a fool. And that's the nicest way that I can put it. Now, let me say this before I go. My Brian Dable offensive scheme video is out right now on the Tick-Tac Titans YouTube channel. If you want a better understanding of what Brian Dable's system actually does and how it actually works.
