Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Rueben Bain DRAFT CRASH Hurts Tennessee Titans Options & Misplaced Second Round Steal Optimism
Episode Date: April 13, 2026The Tennessee Titans were reportedly already out on Rueben Bain at the top of the NFL Draft and most figured it was for football reasons, but after recent reports surfaced about a fatal car accident i...n Bain's past, it is fair to wonder if this information was known by the Titans and already impact his viability. Regardless, the timing of this coming to light is suspicious, if most in the NFL already were aware. It makes you wonder who might have wanted this out...NOW. With that in mind, the damage is likely already done, to whatever amount and Bain will likely go lower than expected just a few months ago, which can only hurt the Titans chances of a trade back. However, Bain won't fall far enough for the Titans to snag him in Round 2, so Titans fans shouldn't be overly optimistic in that regard. Bombshell reports about Rubin Bain being involved in a serious car accident are hurting his draft stock and most likely hurting the Tennessee Titans at the same time. I'll explain how on today's edition of Locked on Titans.

We're going to talk about these new reports about Ruben Bain being involved in a fatal car crash,
talk about how they're affecting his draft stock and then how they're affecting the Tennessee
Titans as well. Now, before we get into all of it, do want to thank you for making a lot of
Locked on Titans, your first listen each and every day.

Speaking of every day, shout out to my everydayers out there.
Tune in Monday through Friday.
Couldn't do it without you guys.
If you aren't an everydayer, now is the time to be one.
The draft is less than two weeks away.
We're in the middle of Titans Trio mock draft week,
and there's a winner from last night's mock draft faceoff.
We'll go over that.
end of the show. We're doing edge rusher paths tonight and one of those edge rushers is not going
to be Rubin Bain. But make sure you stay locked in with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast
in the world locked on Titans. With that being said though again, new reports about Ruben Bain
certainly are going to hurt his draft stop. There's reporting from Ali Connerly of the Guardian,
Trey Wallace from Outkick that in 2024 Ruben Bain was involved in a serious car accident in which
One of the passengers in the other car, the driver of the other car, someone involved in the other vehicle,
went into a coma for a few months and ultimately died.
It's a very tragic story, very sad situation, but Reuben Bain was cited for careless driving.
In that incident, it was ultimately dismissed a few weeks before the death of the other person.
No criminal wrongdoing was proven or no charges in that realm were filed.
The parents of the young woman who died put out of a crime.
statement saying that, you know, they don't want attention from this, that they, you know,
wished Ruben Bain good luck going forward in his career and his life. It's just a tragic incident
at the end of the day. But there are some who are saying that maybe Ruben Bain didn't disclose
this information to NFL teams. Maybe there were NFL teams that when they did learn about
this were caught off guard and that could be considered a character red flag that you would
not inform NFL teams about this serious situation in your past, especially
considering, no, there was no criminal wrongdoing, the case was dismissed, all that different.
There's no reason to kind of lie about this kind of thing.
So there are some teams that may have been caught off guard, but at the end of the day,
NFL teams weren't caught off guard like we were all caught off guard.
There were whispers about a potential issue, but nothing had been reported publicly,
but make no mistake about it.
NFL teams knew about this months ago, and that's been stated by multiple people
within the industry over the last few hours since the story has come out.
I personally didn't hear about this whatsoever until this weekend
when I heard a whisper about it, ask some questions, got some answers
and had somebody tell me about what was going on.
And that makes you wonder why this is coming out right now.
If everybody in the NFL knew about this,
all the NFL teams had become aware of it in the last few months,
why is it coming out now?
Well, is there someone who is hoping that this does affect Ruben's Bain's stock?
Because at the end of the day, at least, if NFL teams knew about this,
their boards probably don't change.
But if NFL owners are now hearing about this, NFL fan bases now hearing about this,
it certainly is fair to say that this could impact Ruben Bain's stock
from a public perception standpoint,
which could force general managers and scouting staffs
to then move him down the board or maybe pass on him in a scenario.
So it's hard to argue that this doesn't hurt Rubin Bain in some way,
even if NFL teams knew about this months ago with it just coming out now.
I think it does make you wonder,
is someone trying to intentionally hurt Rubin Bain by having this come out right now?
Either way, I think it also does hurt the Tennessee Titans
because there's a couple of different paths that this can go.
We heard from Daniel Jeremiah a couple of weeks ago or a week ago
that the Titans were reportedly not a Rubin Bain team.
You can not believe that if you want to.
I do believe that and I understand the logic of why they wouldn't be.
But it makes you wonder,
were the Titans out on Rubin Bain for football reasons?
Or were they in on Rubin Bain and they knew about this months ago
and that's what has them out on Rubin Bain?
That hurts the Titans.
Good football player that they would have taken.
Now they don't feel comfortable taking him
and they have to pass on them.
And if it goes R. Val Rees, David Bailey, R. Val Rees,
and they really wanted an edge rusher.
Well, now an edge rushing option is off the board
because you don't feel you can take that player.
That hurts the Titans.
If they liked Ruben Bain.
It hurts the Titans.
Now, if they didn't like Ruben Bain,
and it's all just football reasons,
the arm length and things like that,
the fit, the scheme,
and they're like, okay, well, this doesn't really change our minds
because we already didn't like him,
then it doesn't hurt the Titans.
But there's another way that I think that this hurts the Titans that's outside of whether they like Bain or not.
And it's a trait.
If it goes David Bailey, R.V.L. Reese 2, 3.
If it goes Reese Bailey, whatever.
And there's a team like the Chiefs or the Cowboys that's desperate for an edge rusher.
And these guys are clearly the top three.
I think there's a big jump down to the next tier of Keldrick Falk and T.J. Parker, Malachi, Lawrence, Zion Young.
I think those guys are a significant step off from
Cassius Howl in that group, from the top three guys.
So if a team wanted to come up and get an edge rusher like Ruben Bain at 4,
it's definitely less likely to happen now that a team would not only take Rubin Bain that high,
but also trade, draft capital to come up and get him.
That's probably not going to happen.
Now, you could make the argument and it would be fair to say
that we've heard that Ruben Bain's stock had been dropping in recent weeks
unrelated to these new reports.
The arm length is a historic factor.
That is a real thing that a lot of teams are going to be scared off from.
It's a historic unicorn outlier is what you're expecting from Ruben Bain.
So from that perspective, his stock probably already dropping a little bit.
just with the teams that would be willing to take him.
But now you add in this, and here's the thing, again,
I think teams probably already knew about this months ago,
and a lot of people have said that so far.
So when we hear in recent weeks,
people aren't as high on Rubin Bain as you think.
It's probably because teams already had the concerns about the arm length
and already knew about this.
Now, I will continue.
I will continue to say,
I believe in Ruben Bain.
I think Ruben Bain is going to be a good player
and it's going to be one of those stupid things
where he drops to the Chiefs or the Ravens at 14
and he turns into an awesome player
and it's like, oh, how do we all overlook that?
Ruben Bain is awesome.
I would take him at number 4.
So I just want to put that out there.
But with that being said,
again, this hurts the Titans in a couple of different ways.
There is a path where it doesn't hurt.
them. But regardless, I'm still a believer in Ruben Bain, but what I can't do is,
I can't have him as one of the edges in tonight's Titans Trio Mock Draft Showdown.
So we'll talk about why that is, go over again, why I think the Titans are out on Rubin Bain
outside of this. And we have a winner from last night's Mock Draft Trio Showdown with
Jeremiah Love as the number one pick. I'll tell you who won that battle as we continue.

matchups all in one place. And during the playoffs, that extra insight really matters
when you're looking at stars, role players, and key moments. It just makes the entire
playoff experience more engaging from start to finish. I personally got to take the Houston
Rockets in their series with the Lakers with Luca and Austin Reeves being out. Seems like
seems like an easy win for the Rockets to me.

And let's cap off today's bonus edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, we talked about the Ruben Bain story,
how it impacts his draft stock,
but also how it impacts the Tennessee Titans.
And again, it's like throwing the football.
Two out of the three outcomes can be bad.
That's what I was always taught in a run-heavy offense growing up.
In completion, interception, completion.
You know, and you could even add sack in there.
Three out of four, throwing the football, dangerous.
Pound the Rock.
Is that a Jeremiah Love reference?
With that being said, again, on last night's episode,
we did three different mock drafts,
three round mock drafts with Jeremiah Love
is the first player in each of all of them.
On tonight's episode,
we are going to do the edge rusher,
lead mock drafts.
Whether it's David Bailey or Val Rees,
doesn't matter, they get an edge rusher at four.
what's the best thing to do after that?
What's the best mock draft
out of the three different ones
I'm going to do it.
Remember last night we had mock draft one
which was Jeremiah Love
Malachi Lawrence
and Jeremy Bernard
that was my personal favorite
that was mock draft one.
Then we had Jeremiah Love
Chris Bell and Keeran Crawford
that was number two
and then we had Jeremiah love
Keelon Rutledge
the guard out of Georgia Tech
and then Ted Hurst
and wide receiver.
That was number three.
That was my second favorite one.
Well, you have spoken in the comments
on social media
a resounding victory
for mock draft number three.
Love triangle number three.
So Jeremiah Love
kicked things off,
explosive offensive playmaker.
Keelon Rutledge,
the big-bodied physical, nasty,
out of Georgia Tech who's getting some first round buzz right now
amongst NFL insiders.
Keelan Rutledge at number 35.
And then getting Ted Hurst at 66, I think is kind of the cherry on top for most people.
Hurst has real wide receiver 1 potential.
He has elite talent potential.
If he can raise his level of competition,
if he can be more honed in on the details,
he can be a game changer for the Titans.
He fits perfectly with what they need.
He's got a lot more pop to him than Jeremy Bernard.
So I get why everybody went that route.
It's all offense as well, which you want to support Cam Ward.
Go all offense.
We'll get an edge rusher at 101.
You know, that's what a lot of people are saying.
We'll get edge rusher in the fifth round.
We'll get linebacker.
We'll double down and get center again.
You know what I mean?
There's a lot of options, cornerback,
that the Titans could go with after those first three picks.
But it was pretty clear.
You guys were pretty unanimous.
I would say that just my approximate value of seeing the comment section,
I would say it was about 66.
mock draft 3, Love Triangle 3, and then probably, you know, 25%
mock draft 1, which was my favorite, and then whatever, do the math.
I'm not an athlete, not an athlete, but I don't know what the percentage is for number 2,
but it wasn't very much. There was like five people who said they liked number 2 the best.
It was mostly people who just really love Chris Bell and believe in him,
which I don't blame you. Chris Bell could be an absolute stud if it comes back healthy
from the ACL. But again,
what we're going to do is
that mock draft,
Love Triangle number 3,
is now going to advance to a final
competition
later in the week.
So we'll do edge rusher lead drafts tonight.
Tomorrow we'll do
Cornell Tate led mock drafts
and then Thursday we'll do
Sunny Stiles led mock drafts.
The number one mock draft
voted on by all of you guys
that advances through each of the different rounds
will all face off
on the last show of the week.
And then next week is draft week.
We'll probably get a lot of rumors in intel
and I'll be covering those on the bonus shows.
