Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans BIGGEST NEED is Offensive Tackle in 2027 NFL Mock Drafts & Roster Cuts Before Camp

Episode Date: April 30, 2026

The 2027 Mock Drafts are out as they always are this time of year and the Tennessee Titans, like all teams, will have big needs again next April. Right now, it seems like offensive tackle will be high... on the list, if not the clear biggest need. That gets addressed in some of the mocks and sets up an interesting conversation about what needs to be prioritized. Whatever the needs, the Titans shouldn't be drafting as high as some of these exercises seem to have them. Changing the focus to the current rookies, with rookie camp starting this weekend, the Titans had to make room on the roster and cuts have begun to do exactly that.   LOCKED ON TITANS EVERYDAY CLUB: https://lockedontitans.supercast.com/   Subscribe to the TicTacTitans Film Channel:  https://www.youtube.com/@TicTacTitans   TicTacTitans Merchandise: https://dixons-dream.square.site/shop...   Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitans   Follow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPod   Subscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@LockedOnTitans   Everydayer ClubIf you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. Starting point is 00:00:00 If you're looking at the Tennessee Titans' biggest needs in 2027, it's clear that offensive tackle should be number one on that list. We'll look at some 2027 mock drafts on today's edition of Locked on Titans. You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day. Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast. I am your host, Tyler rolling Titans fans. On today's show, we're going to look at some 2027 mock drafts. We'll look a year
Starting point is 00:00:41 ahead at what the Tennessee Titans could be looking to do in the first round of next year's draft, and I think that offensive tackle should be number one on the list. Also, the Tennessee Titans have rookie minicamp this weekend, which means
Starting point is 00:00:58 it's time to clear out spots on the roster and the Titans made some cuts on Thursday. Before we get into all of it, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans, your first listen each and every day. Remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round, always for free.

Couldn't do it without you guys. If you aren't an everydayer, you need to be one. Tonight, we're going to do our rookie mini-camp wish list. I'm going to tell you
Starting point is 00:01:30 who I have my eye on as rookie mini-camp takes place over the weekend. what big questions. I would ask Robert Sala. Also got a mailbag coming up for you guys on Friday night. Make sure, again, that you stay locked in with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world, locked on Titans.
Starting point is 00:01:47 With that being said, though, again, 2027 mock draft season, the week after the draft concludes, as always the year in advance, the year ahead. And I do love taking a look at it and projecting a year ahead to what will the Tennessee Titans biggest needs be
Starting point is 00:02:03 then who could be the players, that makes sense. And of course, a lot is going to change with the college football season. The prospects go up and down the board, and they should, based on how they perform in the actual football games. But just looking at where things are at right now, I think it's clear that the Tennessee Titans' biggest need is going to be offensive tackle. No doubt about it.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I thought that there was a chance they might go offensive tackle even earlier in this draft. And I expected early in the draft process as we got closer to the actual event. Like, offensive tackle is maybe the second most important position in the NFL. Me personally, I think it's edge rusher. But if you ranked your positions in the NFL and you said quarterback is number one, offensive tackle is number two, and then, you know, defense receiver,
Starting point is 00:02:51 cornerback, whatever you want to go with. Like, that is somewhere where I don't think you're crazy. I don't think that you're insane. I personally go edge again, but I don't think it's insane if you want to say, we have our quarterback and we need to protect that quarterback. And those are the two most important things that you can do in football. And right now, the Tennessee Titans offensive tackle spot is a big time question. Dan Moore, not a long-term option.
Starting point is 00:03:16 He's not the franchise left tackle or anything like that. And it would not be a shock whatsoever to see the Tennessee Titans move on from Dan Moore after the season would only be, I think, $12 million in dead cap. I haven't looked at it in a while. but again, Dan Moore, not a long-term solution. And the J.C. Latham, I'm high on J.C. Latham this year. I think he finished the season really, really strong. But if Latham were to struggle again by the end of this next season,
Starting point is 00:03:42 I don't think it would be insane to think a year from now, we're looking at J.C. Latham as probably going to be a guard. Like, it's not out of the realm of possibilities. So there is a chance we get to next off season, and the Titans don't have any offensive. tackles. If Latham has a bad year, Dan Moore struggles, they're going to cut more and move Latham. So even if J.C. Latham does well, even if like I think is going to happen, J.C. Latham takes a step forward. You still have to replace Dan Moore. So to me,
Starting point is 00:04:20 the biggest need for the Titans by far in next year's all season is finding the franchise left tackle of the future to protect Cam Ward. They cannot treat the offensive line like they did this year. They don't have that luxury. So ESPN's 2027 mock draft from Jordan Reed had the Titans taking Jordan Seton, the offensive tackle LSU at number seven. And listen, we'll talk about the Titans picking at number seven.
Starting point is 00:04:51 I don't think that's impossible by any stretch of the imagination. I hope that there may be not up that high. but the good part about being up that high in next year's draft is you're probably going to get an excellent player. And if the Titans got the best offensive tackle in the draft or at least one of the top two with a guy we'll talk about in a second, I would be over the moon. And then they would have Latham at right,
Starting point is 00:05:11 they would have Seton at left, you got Skoronsky on a big deal at left guard, you're in a good spot. Like that would be elite for the Titans future, moving forward. Now, a lot of other mock drafts had the Titans go in defense again, the athletic, sharp football analysis, both at the Tennessee Titans taking Dylan Stewart,
Starting point is 00:05:34 the edge rusher out of South Carolina, and outside of offensive tackle, I would say edge, once again, just like this year, edge is still a major concern. I do not believe the Titans have their alpha edge rusher, especially if they are going to rush Keldrick Falk on the inside on passing downs. So when it's time to actually rush the passer,
Starting point is 00:05:58 Keldrick Falk is going to be on the inside. If that's the case, then you still need a dynamic alpha edge rusher. You do not have it then. So you would think, you know, long-term, Keldrick Fulk is your dominant interior player after Jeffrey Simmons with Jeffrey Simmons as Jeffrey Simmons gets closer to 30.
Starting point is 00:06:19 He's going to be 29 this year. So as Jeffrey Simmons starts to age, maybe Keldrick Falk in a perfect world becomes your most dominant interior pass rusher. And then you have Femmy who maybe is your good effort, power edge rusher on the outside. Jermaine Johnson is a good role player as he ages as well. But who is the alpha edge rusher?
Starting point is 00:06:39 If the Titans were to get Dylan Stewart, man, watch that guy move out on the field. It's just unbelievable. So I don't think by any stretch of the imagination that edge rusher is not still a major mean to the point where the Titans should take it in the top 10 if they're picking that hot. And then CBS,
Starting point is 00:06:59 pro football focus, sports illustrated, had the Titans taken Leonard Moore out of Notre Dame. And Leonard Moore is such a talented player, there's no way that I could pass on that. Look, I like Alante Taylor. I like Cordell Flot. The Titans had to improve their cornerback room.
Starting point is 00:07:14 They had a massive problem. But is Cordell Flot and Alante Taylor are such good players? and there's such this big financial commitment to them that they can't draft Leonard Moore who might be the best cornerback in the NFL the day he walks in or one of them. No, you don't pass on Leonard Moore
Starting point is 00:07:33 because you have Alante Taylor and Cordell Flop. Like that, they would all be great together. Cordell Flot, Alante Taylor, Leonard Moore. Like that would be one of the nastiest cornerback trios in the entire NFL. So, cornerback, still a massive need. edge, still a massive need. Offensive line, particularly offensive tackle.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Still a massive need for the future. And I would add in, if the right wide receiver is there, you take wide receiver as well, because we've had conversations about, is Carnell Tate a number one? How about I have two number ones? I get Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate back together. Cam Coleman could be a great option.
Starting point is 00:08:15 I'm not as high on Ryan Williams or Ryan Coleman Williams as he goes by now or Wingo. Not quite as high on those guys as I am Coleman and Jeremiah Smith. But if the right wide receiver was there, why not take them? Like you have Wondell Robinson, Carnell Tate, and then add in one of those wide receivers. So the major positions are the biggest positions of need for the Titans. Offensive tackle, though, is number one for me.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Then I would probably say edge. then I would say wide receiver, then I would say cornerback. That's where I would be with my list of big needs for the Titans. But all of these mock drafts have them in those spots. What's interesting is the amount of wins that the Titans would have to have to be drafting 5 through 7, like all these mock drafts have them.
Starting point is 00:09:06 And I just don't think the Titans will be drafting that high. That's a job for indeed sponsored jobs. Let's continue and cap off today's bonus edition of the Locked-on Titans Podcasts. We talked about the Tennessee Titans biggest needs and who the 2027 mock drafters gave the Titans to fill those needs.
Starting point is 00:10:50 But now I want to talk about the Tennessee Titans being in that spot because for the Titans to pick five through seven in the NFL draft, that would mean that they won basically three to five games. and I just got to say this. We talked about the Titans 4 and the Titans ceiling on yesterday's episode and I'll do my first record prediction for the Titans when the schedule comes out two weeks from today.
Starting point is 00:11:16 But six wins is the minimum for happiness for me. I may do this episode later in the all season but hype, happy hate for wins, win totals. For me to be happy. with what happened to the Titans unless, you know, they're good, and then Cam gets hurt and, you know, they do bad, something like that, you know, let's say the Titans are four and two, and Cam were to get hurt out for the season, something like that.
Starting point is 00:11:49 And then the Titans go five and 12 or six and 11, or, yeah, five and 12 or whatever, you know what I mean. Then we can find happiness there. But everyone healthy enough, we play the season, If the Titans don't get six wins, I will not be happy with the outcome. There is no way with all the additions that they made, draft free agency, the change in the coaching staff. If they win five games, I won't be happy about it.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Six games doubling up last year's win total, moving in the right direction, that six or seven games is the sweet spot for me where I'd be very happy with the Titans season if they win six or seven games. Now, the thing is, if they win six or seven games, they're probably going to be picking 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. That's where the Titans will be.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Will they be able to get one of Jeremiah Smith, Cam Coleman? No. Will they be able to get one of Dylan Stewart, Colin Simmons? No. Will they be able to get Leonard Moore? No. Will they be able to get one of Jordan Seton, Trevor Goosby? Goosby.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Offensive tackle out of Texas, who I think could be the number one tackle in the draft by this time next year, it'll be close. Probably not. But I just named you 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 names. And if there are 3 quarterbacks, Dante Moore,
Starting point is 00:13:17 Julian Sane, Archmanning, Brendan Sourke B, although he's in some deep water. CJ Car out of Notre Dame is a guy. Some people have mocked high and these mock drafts
Starting point is 00:13:31 that we're talking about still. Like, if two or three quarterbacks go, maybe the Titans aren't in a position to pick one of those guys, but they'd be in a great position to trade up and get them. And I think next year is prime trade-up time. If the Titans win seven games, say the Titans go seven and ten, they're competitive all season, just not quite good enough. some of the guys take a big step forward.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Femmy, Germain Johnson looks good. The defense works out Anthony Hill, Kevin Winston. Tate does look like a number one wide receiver. Nick Singleton is a solid committee running back camboard takes that big step forward. If all that stuff happens, the Titans win seven games, they are going to be in a great position to say, hey, this is one of the best drafts that we're going to see.
Starting point is 00:14:26 there is a player at a position of need, wide receiver edge, cornerback, offensive tackle who's fallen. We can trade up from 11 to 8 and get the guy we want. We can trade up from 10 to 5. I think the Titans are in a prime position to make a move like that if things go well in 2026. It's not the time to get stingy.
Starting point is 00:14:52 No, now's the time to go get specific players to fill specific big time, premium position. position needs and get a stud and get a stud because that's what the Titans need. They need star players. I think the Titans actually have decent depth right now. But what they need is stars. They don't have a lot of star players. They have Jeffrey Simmons and hopefully Cam Ward.
Starting point is 00:15:13 And you could say that Peter Skoronsky is a star guard. But star guards don't make the impact that stars at other positions like tackle, cornerback, edge rusher, wide receiver, and quarterback do. that's the premium position discussion. It's not just financial. It's about impact on the field. So, I just think the Titans could be in a good spot. They could have a great season for them and get one of these guys next year
Starting point is 00:15:41 and just be absolutely rolling into 2028 when we steal the AFC South for a decade. But with that being said, all these rookies coming in that we talked about, I told you guys yesterday, the Titans are going to have to make roster cuts very soon. players on Thursday. Nate Lynn at defensive end, Blake Watson at running back, Allie Gay at Edge, Clay Webb at Interior offensive line, Cam Riley at linebacker, Isaiah Rakees at Interior defensive line. I think the only guy that I'm even a one out of 10 surprised about is Allie Gay.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Allie Gay has had some good moments for the Titans as a depth player, practice squad level guy, rotate in and out, be on the roster. He's had some good moments. But he's more of a 3-4 edge than a 4-3 defensive end, defensive linemen type. So I just don't think that he fits what the Titans are looking for with their edge presence. So everybody else, though, Nate Lynn, Clay Webb, Blake Watson, Cam Riley, Isaiah Reichies.
Starting point is 00:16:44 We talked about all these guys yesterday. They're young guys who were the last coaching staff's end of the roster type dudes. The new coaching staff is going to want different end of the roster type dudes. So that's why these guys are getting cut and I'll be honest with you I wouldn't be surprised to see more players get cut sometimes soon because by my count that's six guys isn't quite enough to fit
Starting point is 00:17:07 all the rookies and all the undrafted free agents that we've heard about so far. But the math is constantly working and the roster is constantly fluid. They took Ibuka Agora, the tight end that we talked about and made him an international prospect which gives him an exemption so the Titans could have
Starting point is 00:17:24 91 guys on their roster, counting him as an international guy, so I guess that's a roster move worth telling you guys about. But either way, I told you it'd be a bunch of names that you didn't even know we're on the team. You don't need to know we're on the team and now they're not on the team. So with that being said though, again, later on tonight,
Starting point is 00:17:41 rookie minicamp starts on Friday. I'm going to do, I guess, my preview for rookie minicamp. I think Carnell Tate, Anthony Hill, have to get off to a fast start. And there are some big questions I would ask Robert Salah as well. So make sure that you meet me there for that and then I'll do a mailbag for the Locked on Titans
