Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans Cam Ward BEST GAME YET, JC Latham Gets Back on Track & Kevin Winston Plays Defense
Episode Date: October 28, 2025The Tennessee Titan took another big loss to the Indianapolis Colts, but Cam Ward had his best game of the season so far. Ward showed his high level arm talent, playmaking ability and even showed his ...progress with reading defenses. There were still issues that need to be cleaned up, but fans should be excited about Ward's progress over the past two weeks. The Titans offensive line had maybe it's best game of the year as well despite four sacks as players like JC Latham, Dan Moore and Peter Skoronski continued to play good football with Latham getting back on track. Finally, rookie safety Kevin Winston finally got some real run on defense and didn't do anything to stand out, but that is a good thing. I'm going to tell you guys exactly what I saw on tape in this game and we'll talk about some optimistic things.
It was Cam Ward's best game of the season even though it wasn't perfect still.
Also, there's plenty of reason for excitement on offense with the Titans' offense.
Offensive line and some of the young weapons showing out and we got to see Kevin Winston play on defense and I would expect to see a lot more of
Of Winston and rookie Marcus Harris on the defensive side of the ball going forward before we get into all of it
Do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans your first listen each and every day

Shout out to my everydayers out there
tuning in Monday through Friday
Couldn't do it without you guys
If you aren't an everydayer you need to be one
But with that being said again
I've watched the tape twice now
Offense and defense back
And I heard Titans
Offensive coordinator Nick Holz say this
And his press conference on Tuesday
And I couldn't agree more
This was Cam Ward's best game of the season
Now I know that you're going to get the trolls
You're going to get the haters
You're going to get all those suckers out there
We're going to say
the Tennessee Titans lost 38 to 14.
How could this possibly be Cam Ward's best game of the season?
And I'm here to tell you that it is possible.
And that the score of the game doesn't always tell you
how each individual player performed.
There were players in this game who were absolutely phenomenal for the Tennessee Titans
even though the score was as big as it was.
And that includes Cam Ward.
And let me say this.
Cam Ward was not perfect in this game.
There were some things that really, really frustrated me from the tape with Cam Ward.
And if you want to see all those things and see all the good stuff we're talking about,
make sure to check out my Cam Ward film breakdown that's out right now on the Tick-Tact Titans YouTube channel.
At Tick-Tac Titans on YouTube.
I'll go over all the play, show you all the footage and everything that you want to see.
But from a talking standpoint here, we saw everything that you wanted to see from Cam Ward.
I mean, some of the frozen ropes that he threw in this game,
the armed talent that was on display absolutely out of this world,
whether it be Elic I-O-Manner in the first half of the game
right before halftime when the Titans got in position
to kick the field goal that Joey Sly ultimately missed.
The big-time completion that he had to I-O-Manner
over the middle of the field was fantastic.
The Colt showed an exotic look with a cover-6 coverage.
I.O. Manor was the inside receiver on the left-hand side.
He ran a deep post route, and Cam Ward put this ball.
And I clipped it and put it on Twitter as well.
At Tick-Tac Titans, if you want to follow me over there.
But can't show film on the Locked-on Titans YouTube channel.
I just hope you guys understand that I cannot show you the film.
That's why I have a whole separate film channel
that's right on YouTube as well to show you guys the plays.
But Cam Ward threw this ball
within a small tiny window
where two linebackers for the Colts
had jumped in the air to try to get to the ball
and the ball went right over their hands
and it went right in between two deep safeties as well
to give the Titans a massive explosive passing play
to get down the field in a situation where
the Colts knew the Titans had to throw the ball
like it's before halftime
less than a minute the Titans have to throw the ball
to get down the field to try to get points
and Cam Ward still found a way while getting hit as well.
Dan Moore gets beat on an inside move,
contact to Cam Ward as soon as he throwing it,
and while taking the contact delivers an absolute strike
down the middle of the field.
Probably Cam Ward's best throw of the entire season,
I would say.
But immediately after that, the very next play,
Cam Ward delivers a strike to Chim Dekay on a quick crossing route
to give D.K.
a chance to catch the ball,
get up field, get down,
and give the Titans an opportunity to get points.
For a rookie quarterback with rookie weapons
against a very good team in the Colts
to operate in that situational football circumstance,
I thought that was incredibly impressive.
But again, there are other throws here.
Like, Cam Ward had an absolute dime
to Chim D.K.
on the one where he escapes out of the pocket,
slides to his left,
get some more time,
and then over two different,
different Colts defenders perfectly to Chim D.K.'s hands.
I mean, the ball placement in this game was great.
So whether it be the armed talent that we saw on display,
and another throw later in the game
where he hits Elyke Iow Manor over the middle of the field
against an exotic coverage, but Iow Manor drops it.
Not his fault.
Another play, again, Iow Manor on a deep dig route in the inside
and the Colts are in a complex coverage
with a ton of bodies and a ton of traffic.
and Cam just slides a little over to the left and fires a dart to Iowa,
which he dropped.
But it was just a fantastic plays.
By Cam Ward, there's an out route, a sail coverage,
where Iyo Manor runs a deep corner route to pull the deep safety,
and then Chica Conquo is running an overrout across the middle of the field,
and it's a little sail, actually it was a seven route,
a sail route mixing all the plays up in my head right now from memory,
but a sail route where Chigaconquo is bending to the outside from his tight end.
alignment next to I.O. Manor and Cam just throws it perfectly to him on the sideline.
Like, there were great throws, high level, elite throws by Cam Ward in this game that
are just tantalizing to watch when you turn on the tape. Not only that, but we have had issues
and I have rightfully pointed out the issues with Cam Ward's ball placement. He just hasn't
been super accurate on a lot of throws. He's been behind wide receivers.
He's been a little high to wide receivers.
And other than the throw deep down the field on the right-hand side to E.
E.O. Manor, where everyone's arguing, did I.O. slow up.
Was it a bad throw by Cam Ward?
The answer is yes.
I-O. Manor did slow up on the route.
And he would have had a better opportunity to catch it if he didn't slow up.
But the ball is also a little too far out in front and a little too hot
for I-O-Manner to have a chance to make a play on it either.
And Cam Ward admitted that after the game,
that he can throw a better pass.
that would give I.O. Manor still an opportunity
even if he did slow down on the route.
So both rookie guys are at fault for that one.
But other than that pass,
there's only one other pass that I can think of
where Cam Ward was a little bit behind
Van Jefferson on an out route.
But the ball placement for Cam Ward
was as good as it's been all year long in this game.
Period. It was great.
And then you add in the playmaking stuff
on the touchdown pass to Gunner Helm,
that play is not open.
The Titans are trying to hit Chicka Conquo
with a quick one into the flat.
It is not open.
And no one else is open.
And if not for Cam Ward,
scrambling, escaping,
adding some time to the play,
that's not a touchdown for the Titans.
A couple of these other big-time throws
that I talked about,
Cam had to get out of the pocket
and make plays to make that happen.
Also, I mentioned it throughout.
His ability to read the defense.
I thought he did a great job.
the Colts are showing single high and dropping into cover 2
they're showing single high and run an invert cover 2
with a cornerback drop into a deep half
they are running cover 6 coverages that they don't normally run
they're showing different stuff and then all of a sudden
right before the stat flooding the line of scrimmage
and then dropping back out into coverage
when they're showing heavy blitzes so
Cam Ward's ability to read the defense in this game
I thought was absolutely his best performance of the year
and you could see him start to understand and throw with anticipation
and know where the holes in the defense are going to be before they even happen
and that is the type of progress that you want to see from your young rookie quarterback
and we have seen Cam Ward be better in the last two weeks
I know that the games the scores are not going great but he has clearly improved
he was 55% completion percentage through the first six weeks
1,100 yards, 83 yards per game, 5.5 yards per attempt.
And his last two games, up 10%, 65% completion percentage.
257 yards a game.
7.1 yards per attempt.
Shout out my guy Will Lomas putting the stats together from Titan sized.
But like, it is obvious that Cam Ward is progressing.
Cam Ward is getting better.
Cam Ward is starting to see things and the game is slowing down a little bit.
So I know
that
when the Titans are losing
as bad as they're losing
it's hard to find the positives
but if you watch the tape
you look at what you're seeing
you compare it to the first six weeks
Cam Ward has improved
and he is getting better
over the last couple of weeks
and that's exactly what matters most
for the Titans this year
now I'm gonna be honest
and I'm honest in my film breakdown
on the TickTac Titans YouTube page
there are some things that are still
very frustrating with Cam Ward
whether it be Bob
in the snap, whether it be, you know, him missing some guys that are open.
The Titans, and we'll talk about this here in a second, the Titans' offensive line was great
in this game, but they still gave up four sacks, and a lot of that had to do with Cam Ward.
So, while it was his best game yet, he's still a rookie making rookie mistakes, and he still
needs to get better, and we'll talk about the offensive line and where we need to see
improvement, and some other stuff on offense that has me excited right now.

Titans fans let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast
talking about some reasons to be optimistic
after I went through the tape multiple times over the last 24 hours or so
we got Cam Ward's best game of the season even if the score didn't reflect it
doesn't mean it was all perfect though
Cam Ward still needs to get better and we'll talk about that
but the Titans offense overall is getting better
is showing some signs of life again even if the score doesn't
always show it, but before we dive in, thanks again for making Locked on Titans,
your first listen each and every day.
But I want to continue the conversation around Cam Ward.
And I mentioned it, but I would say that out of the four sacks that the Titans have allowed,
only one of them was on an offensive lineman or a tight end or a running back
or a wide receiver blocking or anything like that.
like it was Kevin Zitler
got beat by a spin move
by DeForest Buckner
that was the one set or it was
Lloyd Cushenberry who got beat by
DeForest Buckner as a swim move
over the top one-on-one
beat Cushenberry and sat Cam Ward
that was the only one
the rest of it was
you know
Cam not seeing open guys
barely getting the ball off
running out of the pocket when he doesn't need to
not hit him
the open receivers like
and that's kind of part of the issue
if we're honest here
and I found it interesting. I saw a tweet
I think it was John Glennon who tweeted it out
that
ESPN's
metric
pass rush win rate
or pass block
win rate PFF
in their pass blocking score
all of that stuff
the Titans aren't that bad
if you're being honest
if you're looking at those
sorts of advanced metrics,
the Titans' offensive line
has not been all that terrible,
like Titans fans would tell you.
I mean, pro football focus
has the Titans pass blocking grade,
at least,
as number 12 in the NFL.
ESPN's pass block win rate
has the Titans above average.
They're above, you know, number 15.
So you're wondering
the Titans have given up 34 sacks this year,
But all these different sites and metrics have them as an above-average offensive line unit.
How can that be possible?
Well, guys, the answer is Cam Ward.
Cam Ward's pressure to sack rate is terrible.
He's having trouble getting the ball out of his hands quickly.
And a lot of that is in the first six weeks.
But even in this game against the Colts,
two of the Titans sacks, one of them was a coverage sack.
One was on Lloyd Cushingberry individually.
But I would say the other two sacks,
are Cam Ward's fault, not getting rid of the ball, not throwing it away, not seeing the open
guy, leaving a clean pocket and kind of panicking a little bit.
So while it was Cam Ward's best game and we should be optimistic about that,
if you want to be optimistic about the offensive line, the reality is the offensive line
sack numbers are nowhere close to indicative of how the offensive line is played.
Now, they've had bad games and they've had bad moments.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you that the Titans' offensive line
has been absolutely incredible all year,
but I'm sitting here telling you that Peter Skoronsky
has been absolutely incredible all year.
In this game, he had the highest pass-blocking grade
of any Titans player with an 85.9 per pro football focus.
They had 47 pass-block snaps.
He gave up one pressure.
I mean, Peter Skoronsky has truly been
probably the best pass-blocking guard,
in the entire NFL.
I mean, he's at least in the top five
this year from just purely
looking at how good of a player
he is right now.
He is the third best
starting guard in the NFL
in past block
grade per pro football focus.
And
one of the guys in front of him
is Joe Thuni.
And another guy in front of him
is Chris Paul, and he's given up two sacks this year.
Pete's only given up one.
And Peter has played 125 more snaps than Chris Paul.
I mean, he's better than a lot of, you know,
some of the best guards in the NFL right now.
Pete has been dominant in pass blocking.
And in run blocking,
he hasn't been absolutely incredible,
but he's still a top half starting guard in the NFL.
NFL. So Peter Scoronsky has been great. I mean, right now he's 12th in the entire NFL in run block
grade per pro football focus. And that includes some guys who have played less than, you know,
50 snaps, a guy with 24 snaps, a guy with 52 snaps, a guy with 25. So if you're looking at
starting guards who have played, Peter Scoronsky has played 495 snaps this year,
anybody even over 400 and Pete is top five. I mean, he's, he's,
He is an absolute all-pro, pro-bowl level guard
that we've always been wondering or always been hoping that he would be.
Dan Moore has really improved
and he's been playing good football for a month now.
You get J.C. Latham back in the fold in this game.
J.C. Latham, 74, pass-blocking grade.
Second best on the offensive line.
Zero sacks, one pressure.
So between Peter Skoronsky at left guard
and J.C. Latham at right tackle,
the Titans gave up zero sacks and two total pressures
and 47 pass block snaps
that's impressive
now looking at the tape
J.C. Latham did get more help than Peter Skronsky
they often would
leave a running back into chip or have a tight end chip
it wasn't an incredible game from J.C.
Latham I thought there were moments where
he needs to strain a little bit more
hold his block a little bit longer
but last week
after Latham struggled mightily,
no doubt about it,
and the week before struggled mightily, no doubt about it.
People were ready to throw J.C. Latham off the boat.
He's a guard.
He can't play tackle.
And listen,
I think that Latham's foot speed is an issue.
I think that he is going to have trouble with speed rushers on the outside.
But to act like J.C. Latham as an offensive tackle
was already over
was just an insane overreaction
and it's part of
kind of the overall conversation
around the Titans right now
that's frustrating to me
and just everything's bad
everything sucks
doom and gloom
one drop of rain
and you're saying it's a thunderstorm
that's how Titans fans are acting right now
there's one drizzle
and oh my whole day's ruined
it's going to storm all day
well just because it drizzles a little bit
doesn't mean it's going to thunderstorm all day
and your whole entire plans are ruined.
That's how Titans fans are acting right now.
And for me personally, I'll be honest with you guys.
I have not been as active
in going back and forth with you guys
as I was at the beginning of the season
because I simply can't take the negativity.
I can't take it.
It's absurd.
It's unfounded.
The team is bad.
They're losing games.
There are players that are playing terribly.
But all this Cam Ward's a bust.
J.C. Latham can't play offensive tackle.
You know, it's just all over the place.
It's just all over the place.
This team's going to be bad for a decade.
You know, like, it's all hyperbole.
It's an overreaction.
It's pouting is what it is.
It's crybaby tantrums.
You know, I could say Peter Skoronsky is maybe the best guard in the NFL this year.
And someone will respond with, the Titans are 1 and 7, he sucks.
And it's just like, why would I want to engage with that?
It's nonsense. It's overly dramatic.
It's overly crybaby.
And I can't take it.
So like, the offensive line has played well.
J.C. Latham had a good bounceback game.
Dan Moore has played pretty solid.
Peter Skoronsky's one of the best guards in the lead.
Cam Ward is improving and just had his best game.
Chim D.K. is blossoming into a really, really great player,
really solid player.
Gunner Helm looks like the tight end one of the future for this team.
Does that mean that all the bad stuff that we've seen doesn't exist?
No, it still exists
but there are reasons for excitement and optimism
There's no reason to act and I'm sorry
If you're somebody who thinks the NFL teams get set back
By anything by a decade
There is not a single thing that could happen in the NFL
To set a team back a decade
This is the NFL
The worst teams in the league
Become the best teams in the league
The best teams in the league fall back and are terrible
All the time
To me that's just crybaby stuff
And I just can't take it
So there are reasons for optimism for this offense and for this team.
And we're going to get to see more reasons for optimism on defense.
That's Devonre Sweat continues to play well.
Cedric Gray didn't have a great game, but has been a bright spot.
And in the secondary, we're going to get to see way more of two rookies
in Kevin Winston and Marcus Harris going forward.
I'm Cody Roark from Lockdown Broncos.

Let's cap off today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Again, we talked about Cam Ward's performance in week eight against the Colts.
It was his best game yet, even if it wasn't perfect.
We talked about plenty of the reasons for excitement on the off.
offensive side of the ball when you dive in and actually be honest about what we're seeing here.
And I think there's more reasons for excitement on the defensive side of the ball as well.
Before we get into them, thanks again for making Locked on Titans your first listen each and every day.
Remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round, always for free.
Make sure you get subscribe, stay subscribed at your team every day.
Also, make sure that you go check out my Cam Ward film breakdown on the TikTok Titans YouTube channel.
And while you're there, get subscribe because I'm going to have a ChimDK video.
Her Helm video, going to do a Kevin Winston video here in the next week or so.
The Titans have a bye week, so I want to get into some individual stuff from the first half of the season as well in there.
But yeah, whether you want conversations, podcasts, film breakdowns, I got you cover, folks.
So stay locked in with the Locked on Titans podcast.
But again, I got off track a little bit, ranting and raving about some of the negativity in the fan base right now.
I just simply can't take it.
Everybody says, I am negative.
I'm a negative content creator.
I'm always complaining about the team.
But even I cannot take the crybaby temper tantrum negativity that I see in the comments all the time.
I simply can't deal with it.
And one of the things that have me excited from this game that nobody is going to pay attention to
because they're too busy crying is Kevin Winston.
Finally, the rookie safety got a decent chunk of snaps, 20 plus snaps on the defensive
side of the ball, and I thought it was a great start.
Now, he didn't make any standout plays that really blow your mind,
but he looked like he knew what he was doing.
He was single high in a cover three.
He played deep half in a cover two.
He played quarters coverage in cover four.
I saw him play man coverage on Josh Downs and get him stopped at one point in time.
He came up and run defense and was physical and fast.
And the one play that wasn't good was when he had man coverage on Tyler Warren
and the coach ran a tight end screen.
And he flew up, he tried to make a play,
and he got blocked by alignment.
He's a rookie.
Like, he's not going to make every play perfectly.
But just the speed, the aggressiveness,
the physicality that he's going to play with
completely trumps anything else
that the other safeties have brought to the table this year.
Like, Xavier Woods is slow.
Amani Hooker is slow.
Quandre Diggs is slow.
None of them played with physicality.
Like, Xavier Woods played with some physicality.
early in the year.
But that's been gone for a while.
It's probably because he's so banged up and all that.
But like, Ammoni Hooker is a disaster this year.
He has to be, and I haven't checked on individual safety grades and all of that.
But Amani Hooker has to be one of the worst, by far the worst,
safeties in the entire NFL this year.
Like, I would have a hard time believing that he isn't.
And as a matter of fact, I just want to know.
I have to know.
out of starting safeties where Amani Hooker ranks here because, like,
it has to be so low with how, you know how many, like,
how many weeks I've seen Ammoni Hooker ranked at the very bottom of the Titans
defense yet.
He has the 78th, 78th graded safety in the NFL amongst players who have played at least
like 150 stamps, 117, something like that, to be exact.
Like, he has been an absolute disaster at all time.
So there is no reason whatsoever that we can't see more Kevin Winston.
Like there's just no way that we can't.
And Xavier Woods, if you're counting, is 83rd amongst the same players in run defense this year.
Terrible.
Amani Hooker 67th.
Guys, there are 32 teams in the NFL.
That means if you're not in the top 64, you're terrible.
Cuandre Diggs is 62.
Like, we need to see more Kevin Winston.
Maybe he'll make mistakes in the secondary.
He'll make coverage mistakes.
But what is there to lose?
I'm excited to see all the different stuff that he did,
all the different coverages that he ran,
the physicality, the speed that he has.
The only thing we need to change with Kevin Winston
is he got to stop wearing black accessories.
Black does not match.
with the Titans jersey colors.
Wear navy if you want to go with dark.
Wear navy blue, you know?
Like, why are we wearing black accessories
with the Titans colors?
I don't get that at all.
But that's the only thing that I want to see change from Kevin Winston.
I just want to see him out on the field more.
And Marcus Harris, the Titan sixth round pick out of Cal,
he's going to have to play a lot more now too
because he's a slot guy.
And Roger McCreary's gone.
The Titans bring in Micah Washington, I think, is the guy's name.
He's off the Packers Practice Squad.
He can get some run too, but the Titans are looking at Daryl Baker,
Jalen Armar Davis,
Marcus Harris, like, why would we not?
And Daryl Baker Jr. might be hurt.
He had a concussion.
So, I mean, why not play the young guys?
And I'm excited to see him play.
That's what this season is about going forward, guys.
It's about seeing which young players can actually be a part of this team in the years to come.
That's what we have to find out.
And that's what I'm excited about.
And that's what I'm going to keep talking about as the season progresses.
And we get to the second half of this year.
But again, I know the Titans are 1 and 7.
I know the team sucks.
But I think there are reasons for optimism.
And when you throw on the tape, it's easy to find those.
But with that being said, that is going to do it for me today.
Folks, as always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland.
And this was Locker.
on tight.
