Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans CANNOT TRADE for Alpha Wide Receiver After Jaylen Waddle Trade to Denver Broncos

Episode Date: March 17, 2026

The Tennessee Titans need a true #1 wide receiver, but the reality is they would have to find that in a trade to be certain they are getting one. The problem with that is, as displayed by the Jaylen W...addle trade to the Denver Broncos, the cost is simply too high for where the Titans are as a team. They need to build their roster up another year before committing that type of move. Names like AJ Brown, Garrett Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr, and Chris Olave all would make sense, but again, the cost of draft picks is one the Titans can't give up right now.   LOCKED ON TITANS EVERYDAY CLUB: https://lockedontitans.supercast.com/   Subscribe to the TicTacTitans Film Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TicTacTitans   TicTacTitans Merchandise: https://dixons-dream.square.site/shop/tictactitans-gear/C3AAPNWXSXA6SBYG3USV2I7R?page=1&limit=30&sort_by=category_order&sort_order=asc   Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitans   Follow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPod   Subscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnTitans/videos   Everydayer ClubIf you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. Starting point is 00:00:00 The Tennessee Titans can simply not afford to trade for a wide receiver 1 right now, and the Jalen Wattle trade is proof. I'll explain on today's edition of Locked on Titans. You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked On Podcast Network, your team every day. Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast. I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans. On today's show, I'm going to explain why the Tennessee Titans cannot trade for a number one wide receiver.
Starting point is 00:00:39 And if you needed proof, look at the Jalen Waddle trade. Before I dive in, do want to thank you for making Locked-on Titans, your first listen each and every day. Remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round, always for free. Make sure that you get subscribed, stay subscribed. It's your team every day. Speaking of every day, shout out to my everydayers out there. Tune in Monday through Friday. Couldn't do it without you guys.
Starting point is 00:01:00 If you aren't an everydayer, what are you doing? Free agency, still going on. And we're going to talk about how scary things are getting for the Tennessee Titans and free agency later on tonight. The draft right around the corner. And before you know it, the Tennessee Titans will be playing football once again. So make sure that you stay locked in with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world.
Starting point is 00:01:20 Locked on Titans. But with that being said, again, I have been saying to you all the entire off season that the Tennessee Titans simply cannot get their hands on a number one wide receiver unless they hit on somebody in the NFL draft because anybody who you could trade for just would not be possible. The Titans are not in a position as a team. They don't have the draft capital. They have the ability to make the kind of trades that we are seeing and look at the
Starting point is 00:01:52 Jalen Waddle trade for any proof that you need. The Denver, for Jalen Wattle, all right? Jalen Wattle is a very good player. Jalen Waddle is not an elite number one wide receiver. Like you guys say, oh, who's the Titans Wondell Robinson? There's not 32 number one wide receivers in the NFL. Jalen Waddle is not a number one wide receiver. He is like a T. Higgins high level number two like an Alec Pierce high level number two type guy. I don't even look at Jalen Wano and say oh that's an alpha number one wide receiver. He's not. In my opinion, there's only like seven or eight, maybe 10,
Starting point is 00:02:30 11, 12 at max, alpha, number one wide receivers in the NFL. Jalen Waddle ain't even that, and he went for a first, number 30, a third, and a fourth. And the Broncos got Waddle and a fourth in return. So you're telling me three draft picks, you want to call it two, a first and a third round pick for Jalen Waddle? Yeah, no. The Titans can't afford it. I mean, DJ Moore. DJ Moore went for a second round pick for DJ Moore and a fifth.
Starting point is 00:03:09 DJ Moore, a 28 year old, 29 year old declining wide receiver with a huge price tag who is not anywhere close to a number one wide receiver. I wouldn't have paid the price for DJ Moore. The Titans can't pay the price for Jalen Waddle? A first? A third? Think if the Titans got Jalen Waddle and all. they had left was pick number 35. Think if they traded 35, 66, and next year's second round pick,
Starting point is 00:03:38 which is probably what it would have cost them to create equal value to that first rounder at number 30. Think about that. The Titans cannot make those kind of moves. The Titans should not be making those kind of moves. Where the Titans are at right now? See, look at where the Broncos are at. Think about the cycle of a team. The Broncos are contenders.
Starting point is 00:04:00 They went to the AFC championship. They won their division. They won 10 plus games, back-to-back years. That is the type of team that should go all in for a wide receiver. Where the Eagles were at when they traded for A.J. Brown. That's the type of team. The Titans are not that type of team. The Titans won three games in back-to-back seasons.
Starting point is 00:04:23 The Titans don't need to go out and push all their chips into the center for a wide receiver. That is not where the type of. Titans are rat. And we're hearing that Philadelphia wants a first round pick and a second round pick, maybe a high level third round pick for A.J. Brown. A.J. Brown's about to be 30 soon. It comes with drama. Now, I love A.J. Brown and I would take the drama. But again, the point is the Tennessee Titans are not in a position to make that kind of move.
Starting point is 00:04:59 You can't go on vacation if you can't afford your rent. You can't buy a luxury old school. I don't know enough about cars. You can't buy an old, you know, Shelby Mustang. If you can't make the car payment on your Honda Civic, the Titans can't make their car payment right now. They can't buy a luxury car. The Titans can't buy their or afford their house payment right now.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Their mortgage. They can't go buy a, uh, vacation home. So, again, I just think a lot of Titans fans have Madden Brain and they're like, oh, go get them. It'll change us around immediately. The Titans are a year away from a move like that. If the Titans go out this year, they win seven games, eight games, nine games,
Starting point is 00:05:52 compete for the playoffs. Maybe they don't make it. Maybe they're a touch away. That's when the Titans go all in and push for that kind of trade. But right now, looking at these prices, We can barely afford ground beef and you want the Titans to go buy Wagyu. That ain't happening.
Starting point is 00:06:09 It shouldn't happen. You cannot microwave this rebuild. You can't. Just because you want this, you want that, that doesn't matter. What is reality? The reality is, with these prices for this level of wide receiver, I would pay a first, a third, and a fourth for Justin Jefferson
Starting point is 00:06:27 or Jamar Chase. I ain't paying that for Jalen Waddle. So where the Titans are at The level of players that are being traded The amount that they're being traded for The Tennessee Titans cannot And should not be making those kind of moves So I know you're frustrated
Starting point is 00:06:46 And you want a true wide receiver one But the bills and the Broncos didn't get a true number one wide receiver and look what they had to pay for what they got It's just illogical and it's not going to happen Now are there guys out there Who I would like to trade for. Absolutely. There are guys out there that I would like to trade for.
Starting point is 00:07:08 But again, I don't think that it's realistic until next season. But let's talk about if I'm wrong, because I might be wrong, I always acknowledge and admit I could be wrong. What I think and what the Titans do aren't always the same thing.
Starting point is 00:07:23 So if the Titans were to go make a trade for a wide receiver, who would it be? We'll talk about those names. Event contracts are offered by Robin Hood derivatives LLC, a registered futures commission, merchant, and swap firm. Let's cap off today's bonus edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast. Again, we talked about why the Tennessee Titans should not, cannot,
Starting point is 00:09:51 trade for a number one wide receiver, but now I want to talk about some top targets that they may look after if I'm wrong. If I am wrong, and the Titans do go after a wide receiver, who could it potentially be? Well, number one on the list has to be Garrett Wilson, right? The Jets should be tanking. I mean, they went and got Gino Smith and added a bunch of people in free agency so it doesn't look like.
Starting point is 00:10:16 That's what they're doing. Aaron Glenn trying to salvage his job. that ain't going to work. So in my mind, if the Titans are doing well at the trade deadline, say the Titans are 4 and 2, 5 and 3, something like that.
Starting point is 00:10:35 They're overperforming expectations. They have a winning record. They're ahead of schedule of the cycle that I was just talking about. All right? They're ahead of schedule. Everything works. Cam is great.
Starting point is 00:10:46 The defense is balling. Sala has these boys ready to play. Dable is working. and the Titans are ahead of schedule. Garrett Wilson is number one on the list. He has been wasting away in New York. He's under control with his contract. There's familiarity with Robert Sala.
Starting point is 00:11:04 He likes Robert Sala and has talked well about him. Garrett Wilson is a guy who I think could be a number one wide receiver in the NFL if he had decent quarterback play and a good system around him. I believe that. So I would trade for Garrett Wilson now. A first rounder? I don't think the Tennessee Titans can afford to do that. Now, a second and a third, sure.
Starting point is 00:11:31 But like, we could talk at that point. But again, the Titans would have to be doing very well to be able to make that kind of commitment. Maybe a second in Calvin Ridley. Could I interest you in that? Probably not. But either way, the Jets already have three first round picks next year. They could trade Garrett Wilson for a second
Starting point is 00:11:50 in a third and still feel happy about that, right? Right, right? Maybe not. Maybe not. But that's why I'm like, oh, I don't know if I could do this. But Garrett Wilson would be a guy who the Titan should go after if they are overperforming during the season or if they just feel confident and want to go get a wide receiver just to prove me wrong. You know Mike Borgonzi's in every day or you saw that smirk he gave me at the combine. He might be saying, all right, you think we won't, we will. So have at it, Mike, okay? Marvin Harrison Jr. is a guy that I keep coming back to. He has been somewhat of a disappointment through the first two years of his career
Starting point is 00:12:24 The Cardinals are rolling with Jacoby Brissette Absolute tank job coming in Arizona If they don't believe in Marvin Harrison Jr., they want to go a different route I would give a second and a third Or a second and a fourth For Marvin Harrison Jr. I would do that all day.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Another guy who makes some sense, Chris Olavé. Now, a lot of people have included Chris Olawe. and like these are some wide receivers who could be traded. I don't buy that. They have Tyler Shuck. I think what the Saints should be doing is adding weapons right now. They just added Travis A-chan, I guess, that's his name now, whatever. E-TN sounds so much cooler than A-chan, and I just, what are we doing?
Starting point is 00:13:08 Anyway, I've talked about that before. But they need to go add a weapon. Like the Saints need to draft Carnell Tate or Mackay Lemon or Jordan Tyson to go with Chris O'L not give Chris Olave away. And let's also say this. Olave's had a lot of concussions. And at wide receiver, you are susceptible to concussions more than other positions.
Starting point is 00:13:31 So would I even feel comfortable trading for Chris Olave? I don't think I would be for what it would cost. So I don't think the Saints should do that. And I don't think that the Titans would want to pay what it would cost to take a chance on a guy like that. I just don't like, I like Garrett Wilson and Marvin Harrison Jr. A lot better. It's funny.
Starting point is 00:13:47 All these guys are Ohio statewide receivers. Funny enough. The last guy that I want to mention here, Brian Thomas Jr., listen to me when I say this to you. I'm a hold your hand when I say this. It's a little reference in there if anybody gets it. The Jaguars
Starting point is 00:14:04 will not trade Brian Thomas Jr. To the Tennessee Titans. Zero. Zero percent chance. Let me translate to my friends in Spanish. Serro. Serro.
Starting point is 00:14:19 it's not happening. Zero percent chance. Just like I told folks, with Zaire Franklin, with Michael Pittman Jr. The Colts aren't trading anybody to the Titans. The Jacks aren't trading anybody of the Titans. The Texans aren't trading anybody of the Titans.
Starting point is 00:14:36 We're not doing inter-divisional trades that not a chance that teams are going to take that risk to make their division rival better. Not happening. So if you want to talk Garrett Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr., Chris Olave, you want to stay on the AJ Brown Hight train.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Go ahead. It ain't happening, but if that's where you want to be, then be there. But take Brian Thomas Jr. out of this. There is zero percent chance. The Tennessee Titans are getting Brian Thomas Jr. Not going to happen. But with that being said, again, I don't believe that the Titans are trading for a wide receiver anytime soon.
Starting point is 00:15:12 I don't think they should. I think that's a next year conversation, not of this offseason conversation. but let me know down below, would you make the trades that you've seen for Waddle and DJ Moore? Would you pay what it would cost to get A.J. Brown give up number four in a third round pick. Would you trade a first round pick for Garrett Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr., Chris O'Lave? Because I know that I would. But with that being said, that's going to do it for me today.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Folks, as always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland. And this was Locked on Titans.
