Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans CANNOT TRADE UP for Jeremiyah Love in NFL Draft & Trading Down is the Only Option
Episode Date: March 16, 2026The Tennessee Titans have a number of paths available to them at the top of the NFL Draft, but one thing they simply cannot do is trade up and especially for Jeremiyah Love. Taking a running back that... high is already bad value in today's league, but trading multiple assets to move up and take a running back is simply malpractice. If the Titans like Love, take him at #4 and if someone wants to take him before you, it is what it is. Then you would have ample options at your disposal on the defensive side of the ball that may very well attract a team behind you to TRADE up. Trading down is the only logical trade path for the Titans going forward if they don't end up picking at #4. The Tennessee Titans can absolutely draft Jeremiah Love at number four,
but what they cannot do is trade up for them.

On today's show, I'm going to tell you why the Tennessee Titans are fine
if they take Jeremiah Love at number four,
but they absolutely cannot under any circumstance trade up for Jeremiah Love
and they shouldn't need to.
Before we dive in, do want to thank you for making a Locked on Titans.

Speaking of every day shout up to my everydayers out there turning in Monday through Friday
Couldn't do it without you guys if you aren't an everydayer what are you doing free agency
Isn't done yet we got more moves to make for the Titans and I'll be talking about that
Later on tonight also the draft right around the corner and with that
It is mock draft
Make sure that you stay locked in with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world.
Locked on Titans. But speaking of mock draft season, it is this time of year where every Tom Dick and Harry out there puts out an NFL mock draft.
And we saw one of the worst mock draft predictions I have ever seen for the Tennessee Titans from Pro Football Focus on Monday morning.
I'm not going to shout out the guy who wrote it. I'm not trying to be rude or crass.
But at the end of the day, it is one of the dumbest things that the Tennessee Titans could do.
and pro football focus has the Tennessee Titans trading up to number two
to draft Jeremiah Love.
Look, again, I talked yesterday about how I would be happy with Jeremiah Love at number four.
I would prefer an edge rusher.
I think the Titans would prefer an edge rusher.
But if the Titans took Jeremiah Love at 4,
that would be a great outcome for the team.
He's a fantastic player.
But trading up to number two to get Jeremiah Love
would be Mounted.
practice by the Tennessee Titans and especially for the trade package that PFF had the Titans giving up.
The Titans send pick number four, pick number 35, and pick number 101 to go up and get Jeremiah Love.
That would be a disaster. That would be an outright disgrace.
I would lose all faith in Mike Borganzi if he made a stupid move like that.
The Tennessee Titans did a lot in free agency.
They signed three corners.
They got John Franklin Myers.
They trade for Jermaine Johnson.
They add Wondell Robinson,
or Daniel Bellinger, you know, like,
but this team cannot afford.
They have not done anywhere near enough.
Yeah, they did a lot in free agency,
but they had one of the worst rosters in the entire NFL.
It's not like their gas tank went from empty all the way to fool here.
they went from empty to a third of a tank.
Like this team is far, far away from having one of the better rosters in the NFL
where they could justify a trade,
giving up three of their top four picks to go get a running back.
I mean, drafting a running back that high in general is already quite the risky move.
You don't get very much value when it comes to the contract
compared to other highly paid running backs in the NFL.
Running back is a luxury position that typically you should,
only draft if you feel comfortable with your premium positions and you're in a good spot,
like what the Lions did with Jemir Gibbs.
The Lions roster was in a great place when they got in Jemir Gibbs.
So it's already risky enough for the Titans to draft Jeremiah Love with the state of their roster.
And that's honestly the big pushback from people who don't want to draft Jeremiah Love.
It's that this roster is not in a place to afford the Titans the luxury to go get a running back.
So you take that into account on its own,
but it is already a massive risk
and going against the grain and going against the trends
and looking for an outlier to go get Jeremiah Love at number four.
Now you want to give up three of the Titans' top four picks.
So Jeremiah Love and pick number 66,
absolutely ridiculous.
And when you read,
when you read what the pro football focus justification is,
it gets even worse.
It says, quote, the Titans have been one of the most active teams in free agency so far,
adding several defensive line contributors in particular.
That increases the chance that they look at running back Jeremiah Love in the first round.
Okay, that right there makes a lot of sense, all right?
But this part.
But with the Cardinals ahead of them, it may be necessary to trade up.
That is where the idiocracy comes in.
That is one of the dumbest sentences ever written in pro football focus history.
Are people not paying attention to what the Arizona Cardinals are doing?
Do we just not?
I wouldn't be surprised the Cardinals like the Titans are a team that people just don't pay attention to.
Just have no clue what they're talking about.
The Cardinals still have Trey Benson, although he's coming off an injury.
They brought back Bam Knight.
They signed Tyler Algier.
They restructure James Conner's contract to keep him around.
instead of cut him. I mean, that's four different running back options right there.
The Arizona Cardinals are not taking Jeremiah Love,
and the Tennessee Titans don't have to fear the Arizona Cardinals,
and then go get Jeremiah Love ahead of him.
That is absolute nonsense.
The person who wrote that has to be a Jets fan.
Because for the Jets, to trade back, get all that draft capital,
and still get R. Vel-R. Rees, who's going to go number two, is just, sure,
it's, I mean, Cloud 9.
It's a pipe dream.
So listen, again, I would be happy with Jeremiah Love.
I think that would be a good selection for the Titans.
I am more on board with taking a running back that high in the draft this year
than I would be basically any other year
because the draft class up top isn't very good.
Jeremiah Love can be a home run hitter.
He can score points for the Titans.
It would feel good as a Titans fan to have a quarterback and a running back
all is fair in love and ward.
all of that, you know, like, it's all fun.
I love the Jeremiah Love's name.
It makes for good thumbnails and good titles.
And it's just, you know, the heartbreaker celebration.
There's so much potential there for entertainment and for fun.
But it would just be absolutely insane to trade all of that.
To trade anything at all to move up for Jeremiah Love.
Unacceptable, not happening, totally against it in my hate tier.
if they take love at 4, fine, I'm happy, but trading anything to go up and get Jeremiah
Maya Love higher than 4 when they clearly aren't going to have to do that, again, would be
absolute malpractice.
Now, trading down, trading down on the other hand, that is the only kind of trade that
the Tennessee Titans need to be considering.

Fans, let's continue today's bonus edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast
talking about this insane trade that pro football focus offered up for the Tennessee Titans again
absolutely ridiculous they can't trade anything to move up for and if Jeremiah Love is gone because he went number two to the Jets
then fine let that be the case and then R. Val Reese or David Bailey or Ruben Bain are going to fall directly to you
or or it is going to increase the possibility of a trade back this would be a perfect draft
for the Titans to trade back.
Yes, I would love one of Jeremiah Love,
R. Val Rees, Rubin Bain, David Bailey.
But this is not a good top of the NFL draft.
If you compare it to previous years, to standard drafts,
it is well known among all of the draft Nicks,
all of the subject matter experts in the industry,
that the top of the first round this year is much worse
than typically the top of the first round usually is.
Okay, so this would be a better year
I mean, how much better is, you know,
David Bailey than a T.J. Parker
or is David Bailey than a Cassius Howe,
or is David Bailey than a Keldrick Falk,
or like the gap between those guys or a wide receiver?
How much better is a Cornell Tate over a KC. conception
or a Denzel Boston or an Omar Cooper?
And is Jordan Tyson going to fall a little bit?
Mackay Lemon could fall a little bit.
To me, if the top of the NFL draft, the top 10 picks, top 12 picks
really aren't as good as they typically are in a normal draft,
then that would mean it would be incredible.
Imagine if the Titans were able to trade back from 4 to 12
or 4 to 10 or 4 to 9 or 4 to wherever
and get an extra first-round pick next year
in what is one of the most loaded draft classes
expected of all time with wide receivers, pass rushers, offensive tackles,
quarterbacks.
Like, having two first round picks next year would be an absolute dream.
An absolute dream.
Or just picking up additional draft capital.
Where this draft, I just said that the draft is not very good at the top.
There aren't a lot of blue chip prospects in this year's draft class.
So being able to collect more picks in the mid-round,
If the Titans were able to move back, maybe one of these teams that has two first round picks,
like the Jets, like the Cowboys, like the Browns, something like that.
If the Titans, the Chiefs, if the Titans were able to move back with one of those teams,
get a second first round pick in the 20s, or move back and get a second round pick this year,
a third round pick this year, a second round pick next year.
like that would be incredible for the Titans
and as a matter of fact
it looks like the Titans are bracing
for that possibility
they had a 30 visit
with Monsor Delane
the cornerback
at an LSU
who's widely considered
the best cornerback in the NFL draft
why would the Titans be doing that
after signing three cornerbacks
with a top four pick
they're not taking Monsor Delane
at number four, but
if they were to trade back
to 8, 9, 10, 11, 13,
14, now
Monsor Delane might make a lot of sense
for the Titans. And again, I would tell you, some people are screaming at the
screen right now. They don't need another cornerback. Yes, they do.
Okay? Alante Taylor's probably going to play in the slot.
Cordell Flott is going to play on the outside.
Marcus Harris
6th round rookie or second year player
coming off a knee injury
can you really count on him to be a full blown starter
Josh Williams played 17 snaps last year
Is he really a starting outside corner
No he's more of a special team's depth player
who they hope can develop
But they don't have
the requisite amount of cornerbacks
to be like oh if they traded back
they would never take a corner
I don't agree with that now I prefer a wide receiver
at that point like
at that point give me
take, give me lemon, give me Tyson, you know, if they trade back
five or more spots. But the point remains that
the options are completely open. If the Tennessee Titans do move back,
take Sonny Stiles, take Caleb Downs at that point, because you're getting that
player plus the additional draft capital, which is a great option for the
Titans. So again, I like Jeremiah Love. I would love to have
Jeremiah Love on the Titans, but I would hate if the Titans traded up
to get them. And quite honestly, I would love
it even more if the Titans were able to trade back.
So now, let me know your thoughts on the Titans trade potential.
Would you trade up for Jeremiah Love?
I feel like the fan base has lost their mind with love at this point.
Thinking with your heart, not your brain.
Jeremiah Love joke.
All right, whatever.
I'm not a comedian.
Okay, give me a break.
But regardless, let me know how you would feel.
Would you prefer a trade back?
