Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans CHAD BRINKER EXIT is a NON-FACTOR & Titans Ranked DEAD LAST in Ridiculous NFL Poll
Episode Date: April 29, 2026Tennessee Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker stepped down on Tuesday night. This has been turned into a big talking point and as is typical, is being used as a way to insult the orga...nization. That response is ridiculous and following the events it is clear to see why this would always be the outcome. Also, continuing a theme of disrespect for the team, the Titans have made massive improvements over the last few months to strengthen their roster, but in a recent NFL Power Ranking, the Titans were listed last. While offseason rankings don't affect games, it is still a insane assertion and shows a level of disrespect to the amount of talent and change that has been added not only to the roster, but the coaching staff. Chad Brinker stepping down as the Tennessee Titans president of football operations is being used as another reason to disrespect the Titans, and I am sick of it.
I'll explain why on today's edition of Locked on Titans.
You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rolid Titans fans on today's show.
We're going to talk about the big news of Chad Brinker stepping down as president of football operations for the Titans.
Why I think that it's a big nothing burger that we knew was going to happen eventually anyways
and why I am sick of the Tennessee Titans being used as a punching bag when these things happen.
Now also, we're going to talk about another example of disrespect for the Tennessee Titans
as they were ranked last in a recent power rankings,
just absolutely ridiculous stuff.
But before we get into all of it,
do want to thank you for making Locked-on Titans,
your first listen each and every day.

Tune in Monday through Friday.
Couldn't do it without you guys.
If you aren't an everydayer, you need to be one.
We're going to go over the remaining depth chart,
the biggest questions remaining for the Tennessee Titans
over the course of the next couple of days,
so make sure that you stay locked in
with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world,
locked on Titans.
With that being said, though, again,
the story came in on Tuesday night.
Chad Brinker,
the Tennessee Titans president of football operations,
will be stepping down.
Both Amy Adams Strunk and Brinker gave their statements,
this and that.
And I got to be honest with you,
it was late on Tuesday,
night, I was laying in bed about to go to bed. And when I saw that, I said, I just don't care.
It's not that big of a story to me. I know the president of football operations stepping down.
The Titans of Fired Rable and hired Carthon and hired Carthon and fired Carthon and fired Calfan and hired Brinker.
And now Chad Brinker's stepping down. And, you know, I understand that there's been a lot of change.
And that in itself is going to create a lightning bolt effect.
That's going to make everybody pays.
Oh, the stupid Titans wants more change for the Titans.
Oh, they can't act normal.
But this, but the reality is this is a nothing burger.
And you know why this is a nothing burger that I don't really care about?
Because Mike Borganzi.
Mike Borganzi is control of the franchise.
That's why Chad Brinker is leaving.
Because Chad Brinker eventually wants to control his own franchise.
And he knows that he's not going to do it here.
Now, the Titans did some weird.
stuff when they got rid of John Robinson.
They brought in Rancarthon, but they didn't trust Rancarthon.
They didn't think that Rancarthon was 100% ready.
So they hired Chad Brinker to be his babysitter, for lack of a better word.
But Brinker wasn't an overly qualified guy.
So they were just hoping that those two could work together and figure things out.
And then what we do got to give Chad Brinker credit for
and why I think Chad Brinker is one of the most over-hated characters
in Tennessee Titans football history.
Brinker was the one, in my opinion,
who told on Rancarthon.
He was the guy who snitched on Rancarthon.
He was the whistleblower on Rancarthon.
Hey, Amy, this dude's sleeping on the team playing.
He's not locked in.
He's not putting in the work behind the scenes,
not doing what he has to do.
He was the one because he's seen it before.
So he was the one who said, hey,
ran ain't doing what he's supposed to do.
And then Amy was like, all right,
well, if Rand isn't doing what he's supposed to do
and we're going to fire him,
then you, who knows what it's supposed to look like,
who told on Rand,
and I say that and it sounds negative,
but thank God that he did, right?
Like, we should be thankful
that Chad Brinker said, hey,
Rancartha ain't getting the job done.
Otherwise, we'd still have Rant.
So, she said, you,
are going to lead the hiring search.
You're going to find the next general manager.
So that's what Chad Brinker did.
Now, Brinker maybe could have been the general manager,
but he wasn't hired to be a general manager in the first place
because he didn't think he was ready to be the general manager.
Brinker is a smart guy.
He's calculated.
He's not going to take a bad opportunity.
And that's why he probably didn't want the Titans general manager job
after Rancourt Thon was fired.
He said, I'm not taking it.
I don't want to do this.
and then Amy said, well, help me find the guy.
And he said, okay, I'll help you find the guy.
And then they found Mike Borganzi.
And after a year of Mike Borganzi being on the job,
it was clear, oh, Mike Borganzi knows what he's doing more than Chad Brinker.
Why is Brinker the president of football operations
when he's not doing half of the things?
And I think another thing that we need to consider here is
that once Chad Brinker got demoted after a year,
which we talked about earlier this all season,
Mike Borganzi had passed the test, did a good job.
There's no need for a Brinker and a Borgonzi.
And Brinker knows that.
Brinker was only needed because Rann wasn't competent.
And Brinker wants to be a Borgonzi and have control of the roster.
Brinker wants to be involved in the football.
As president of football operations with Mike Borganzi as the general manager
with roster control and roster decision-making power and all of that,
Mike or Chad Brinker is what?
Doing the field, the equipment, the medical staff,
all these auxiliary things that the general manager would normally do.
He's doing them.
So what they were asking Chad Brinker to do was
do all the crap parts of the job
and not get to do any of the fun parts of the job,
which is what you actually want to do.
Pick players, scout, draft picks, sign free agents.
That's what Chad Brinker wants to do.
And here's the real reality as well.
The real reality.
Chad Brinker wants to be that guy.
That's what he wants to do.
So like, why would he do all the crap
and not have any of the fun?
Why would he do that?
And even if
things went well,
even if things were going well,
Chad Brinker was always going to leave anyway.
Whether it was being second in command to Rand Carthon,
he would have eventually, if things went well,
proved himself,
and he would have got a general manager job.
He wasn't going to stay in Tennessee forever.
If things went well and the Titans bounced back
and they do well and people from the organization start getting poached,
Chad Brinker would be hired away somewhere else anyway.
So there is no destination
that would involve Chad Brinker
staying with the Tennessee Titans long term.
From the moment he was hired,
the outcome was always going to be
that Chad Brinker was going to leave the organization
to go be his own general manager.
So it's like,
this is just being used
despite all of this reality
and all of this evidence.
This is just being used as, oh, Titans dumb again.
And it doesn't make any sense.
And it's shit, I'm just sick of it.
I'm just sick of every little thing that happens.
You know what?
Nobody's talking about.
Mike Vrable looks like an absolute fool right now.
One of the biggest NFL controversies we've seen in the last few years.
That would be mud on the Titans face right now.
But nobody's out there saying, man, the Titans avoided a big time scandal.
They never get any of that.
But every time, any thing,
happens, it's another reason to kick dirt in the face of the Titans.
And it's just ridiculous. It's just silly. This is not the, yes,
they deserve criticism for the path that they've been on, the Vrable to
Borgesi path that we've been on. They deserve criticism for
bad moves like hiring Rancarthon, firing Mike Vrable, hiring
Brian Callahan. They deserve the lashings for that.
But Chad Brinker's stepping down, this is not
where you need to grandstand and say,
oh, the Titans are stupid.
Like, I'm just sick of that.
And speaking of disrespect,
a power ranking came out recently
that had the Titans' last,
literally dead last in the NFL.
I think that's utterly ridiculous.
Do want to let you know that today's episode is brought to you.
By Ruggiat.
The NFL draft was here

Let's continue today's bonus edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Again, talked about the Chad Brinker situation.
It's a nothing burger for me and just a
another reason for people to pile on the Titans when they shouldn't be.
But now I want to talk about this recent power ranking from the athletic
that had the Tennessee Titans dead last.
And again, I think it's just absolutely absurd.
I know that this is going to sound homerish.
I'm a Titans fan defending the Titans.
They're not the worst team in the NFL.
They blah, blah, blah, blah, this and that.
I get it.
I get how it could be portrayed.
But I don't think that you have to be a Homer.
I don't think that it's just me being a Titans fan,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
To say that it's ridiculous that the Titans are ranked 32nd.
I mean, the Dolphins, terrible wide receiver group, terrible secondary.
They're tanking the season.
Malik Willisett quarterback.
The Raiders are going to be starting Kirk Cousins,
makeshift offensive line,
some of the worst weapons that I've ever seen outside of Brock Bowler.
Ash and Gentie.
The defense isn't good outside of Max Crosby.
The Cardinals are starting Jacoby Brissette or Gardner-Mintu.
Get out of here with that.
The Jets are going with Gino Smith.
Sounds like they might bring in Russell Wilson.
And Aaron Glenn is still their coach.
The Browns are going to be starting Deshawn Watson,
Shador Sanders, or Dylan Gabriel.
I don't care who plays.
their O-line is bad.
Their weapon group is bad.
They do have a good defense.
But they lost Jim Schwartz.
So we'll see.
All five of those teams right there,
the Dolphins, Raiders, Cardinals, Jets, Browns.
Like, especially the dolphins and the Cardinals and the Jets,
I would say, how can you have those teams over the Titans?
Not only do I think the Titans are going to be better
than all five of those teams,
Dolphins, Raiders, Cardinals,
Jets, Browns? Not only,
do I think the Titans are going to be better than them?
I think there's a chance the Titans are better than the Giants,
Falcons, Colts, Saints, Vikings, Panthers.
Like the Titans, if you're being fair to the Titans,
after Robert Sala, Brian Dable, Carmen Briscilla,
free agency, the draft, Wondell Robinson,
John Franklin Myers, Alante Taylor, Cordell Flott,
Carnell Tate,
Keldrick Falk, Anthony Hill.
Like, I know the Titans have question marks on the offensive line.
I'm going to be the first person to say that.
I'm going to be the first person in line
to question the Titans and criticize the Titans.
Like, that is, that's why the Titans aren't huge fans of me
because I will call them out.
I'm not going to be overly homerish
for the Titans.
But last,
dead last when other teams have gotten significant.
I think that there is a better chance that the Titans make the playoffs
than they are the worst team in the NFL.
I know that that is probably getting into Homer level territory.
I understand that and can acknowledge that.
But I truly believe that.
There is a better chance the Titans make the playoffs
than there is that they are the truly worst team in the NFL
and get the first overall pick again.
No way.
No way.
Don't buy it.
is disrespectful to insinuate that the Titans have gotten worse in the NFL standing.
And listen, I know what some of you are saying right now.
Power rankings don't matter.
Who cares about somebody's opinion in the New York Times about NFL teams.
I get it.
I get it.
And it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter.
Power rankings don't play games.
None of that matters.
But man, it's just stupid.
You know what I mean?
It's like the Chad Brinker thing.
Does it matter that the entire NFL world is using the Chad Brinker thing
to kick the Titans and call them dumb and stupid?
But does it matter? No.
But is it annoying?
Yes.
And again, the experience, a point that I make all the time,
the experience of being a fan of a professional sports team
to me isn't just about three hours on Sundays
and then I don't care about anything else.
It's about the conversations around your team.
team, how your team is displayed.
Doesn't everybody love a good story about the Titans?
Doesn't everybody hate when the whole NFL world was trying to kick the Titans in the teeth?
Especially when it's dumb stuff that they don't deserve the hate for,
like this Brinker situation.
It just, I'm tired of the disrespect, all right?
Sick of it. Power rankings and Brinker and all that.
I'm tired of it. Titans are coming for the get back this year, all right?
I've won it in blood, okay?
tired of these people.
Anyway, with that being said, though,
later on tonight,
I think I'm going to do
an updated Titans floor and ceiling.
I'm not going to do my win projection
like my first initial record prediction
until the schedule comes out in two weeks.
But I think I'm going to do my floor and ceiling for you guys
and we'll go over the undrafted free agent list
because a lot needs to change
for the Titans roster to add all these different people on.
So we'll go over all of that.
But make sure that you're back with me here later on tonight.
That's going to do it for today's bonus episode, though.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland.
Check out my Caldric Falk Film Breakdown, people.
Right now, I mean it.
Right now, go to the Tick-Tac Titans YouTube channel,
hit subscribe and watch the Caldric Falk Film Breakdown.
It's only 15 minutes.
It's the good and run defense, the good in pass rush,
and what needs to be improved as well.
So go right now.
I said so.
But that's going to do it for me today.
folks, as always. I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
