Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans DRAFT GRADE CHAOS as Picks Draw MIXED REVIEWS Despite EXCELLENT Draft Strategy
Episode Date: April 26, 2026The Tennessee Titans completed their 2026 NFL Draft class this weekend and came away with a fantastic haul of new rookies, but it was more than just the players that were impressive it was the strateg...y the Titans used to get their players. An aggressive approach helped them hit their biggest needs and get high-level talent at a few spots. The Titans draft class has seen mixed reviews from public grader, but that includes some really high-end praise including an A+ grade from Sporting News. However, some poor grades are mixed in as well including a C+ from Mel Kiper at ESPN. I'm giving the Tennessee Titans a B-plus grade for the NFL draft, but not everyone agrees with me.
Let's dive into Titans draft grades on today's edition of Locked-on Titans.
You are Locked-on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked-on Podcast Network,
your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans on.
Today show, we are going to look at Tennessee Titans draft grades.
I'm going to give you my overall draft grade.
I'm going to go pick by pick and give my grades for each individual selection.
Also, we're going to look at some of the draft grades that disagree with me that think the Titans did.
Excellent in this draft, including an A plus number one rated grade.
Also, we're going to talk about the people who disagree with my draft class grade.
The other way, like Mel Kuiper, who has the Tennessee.
Titans with a C plus.
Before we dive into all of it,
do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans
your first listen each and every day.
Remember, Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans draft content.
All week long, I'm going to be talking about how these players fit,
what their long-term potential is,
what their role is right now,
maybe even do a little 2027, way too early mock draft,
so much to dive into.
But make sure, again, that you get subscribed,
stay subscribed.
It's your team every day.
Speaking of every day,
out to my everydayers out there.
Tune in Monday through Friday.

Locked on Titans.
With that being said, though, again,
my overall grade for the Tennessee Titans is a B plus.
That is going to be my not just grade of the player selected,
but the overall approach for the Tennessee Titans.
Because again, it was something that I talked about throughout draft weekend.
But the Tennessee Titans weren't drafting this week.
weekend. They were hunting this weekend. The stories that we heard from T.J. Husmanzada and
Brian Dable talking to Brian Hartline. Carmel Tate really was the Titans guy all along. That was the
guy that they wanted that they wanted to go after based on how they thought the board would go.
And that's exactly who they got. So they attacked the wide receiver position to help Cam Ward
with their number one wide receiver on the board. I like that aggressive new. They trade up. They get
Keldrick Falk. Again, my views on Falk will discuss.
minute, but nonetheless, the aggressive mindset to move up from the second round, back into the
first round. I think that was fantastic from the Titans. You get somebody who is a prototypical fit.
And again, we talk about Brian Daibel getting his guy with Carnotate. Robert Salah gets
his prototype defensive lineman with Keldrick Falk. Then you go into third round. The Titans get
aggressive again. They're going hunting. They want their guys, specific prospects. They want to
attack and make sure that they get. That's what they get with.
Anthony Hillett linebacker.
Again, Gus Bradley on the phone with them.
You shouldn't even a left.
I told you I'd be talking to you soon.
They love each other.
They knew that this was a fit.
They knew that this was their guy.
They went out and got the prospect
that they were targeting all along from that standpoint.
You could even add in, what was it,
Jackie Marshall, Nick Singleton.
It was Nick Singleton.
Jackie Marshall, you got Gus Bradley on there saying,
we were worried for 20 picks that you weren't going to fall to us.
Then the running back coach gets on the phone with Nick Singleton like,
yeah, let's go, man, I told you it was going to be us.
But it just seemed like every single pick the Titans made
was exactly who they were going for at that time
and exactly who the coaches wanted, exactly what their plan was.
They hunted their players.
They hunted their outcomes.
They didn't sit back and let the fight come to them.
They went out and took the fight to the rest of the draft.
And for that, again, with the players that they got, how it fits needs,
the Titans needed more help in the pass rush.
They got that with Caldric Falk.
Now, I think a speed rusher would have been a better fit,
which is part of the reasons I knock this draft.
But nonetheless, they add to a position of need, edge, D-line, all of that.
They get wide receiver, which they desperately needed,
a guy who absolutely fits perfectly because he's a big-bodied vertical threat.
He goes perfect with what the Titans have in the wide receiver room
that's different from him.
They get that starting Mike middle linebacker
that they desperately needed to fit into Robert Sala's scheme
because Cody Barton just isn't that guy,
he's not as good of a fit.
They get interior offensive line depth.
They wanted a center.
They wanted a guard.
They hit both of those positions.
Like, you add a running back
when everybody was excited to get an explosive playmaking running back
that was a home run threat
and a dual threat out of the front.
backfield and you got that as a Titans fan.
It just wasn't Jeremiah Love.
It was a little lower on the board with Nick Singleton.
So again, the players that they got, how they hit their needs, how they hit specific
roles on this roster, the aggressive approach that they had, it's a B plus for me.
Now, Carnell Tate, B plus grade individually.
Let me know your guys' overall grade for the Tennessee Titans draft class and their approach
to the draft down below in the comments.
Hit me up on social media in the Lockdown Titans every day or group chat.
But again, as we get into the individual grades for these players,
Carnell Tate is a B plus for me.
Now, I had it as a B minus on Friday morning after day one,
but understanding now how the Titans wanted Carnell Tate,
my trust in Mike Borgonzi,
how that was a Brian Dable selection,
how close he was with Brian Hartline.
The Titans were as informed, as prepared.
They were not caught off guard.
The Carnal Tate pit makes a lot more sense right now for me.
It is a B plus.
Again, I still have my doubts about whether Cardinal Tate can be a true number one alpha
wide receiver.
But that's why that whole thing together, ultimately it's a B plus for Cardinal Tate.
I had a C plus grade on the Keldrick Falk move on day one.
But looking at it now, I did bump that up to a B.
It was an aggressive move for the Titans.
You get a prototype guy.
He has upside.
He has length.
Again, I was a little worried about the pick.
Night 1, Keldrick Falk seemed really caught off guard.
his answers about the NFL, his answers about his motivations to play the sport.
They didn't really hit me the right way.
But after hearing him speak more throughout the weekend,
seeing his press conference when he finally got to Tennessee,
I feel a lot better about Keldrick Falk and the player that they're getting there.
That's a B grade for me.
We moved to Anthony Hill,
and Anthony Hill is an absolute A grade.
Easy A for Anthony Hill.
Aggressive trade up.
I like going to get your guy.
He fits perfectly.
he has elite upside.
I look at Anthony Hill,
and the reason that I liked Anthony Hill
before the draft for the Titans in the mid-round
is because outside of Sunny Stiles,
I think that Anthony Hill has the highest upside
of any linebacker in the entire draft.
I think Rodriguez is a good player,
Kyle Lewis, C.J. Allen,
Josiah, they can all be good players.
But if you want to tell me which guy
outside of Sunny Stiles
has elite potential to be,
a game-changing player in the NFL. For me, it's Anthony Hill. And after going through every
single game of his tape over the last 12, 16 hours that I've done here, I am absolutely over the moon
about the pick of Anthony Hill. So that is an easy A grade for me. But as we get into day three,
we get some of the lower grades for the Titans. You look at Fernando Carmona. I gave that pick a C.
And it's not because if I'm just doing the player itself, I'd probably give Carmona a C plus. But when you
consider the situation, I thought he was over-drafted.
Heck was still on the board.
Bo Stevens, Keith Abney, Chandler Rivers, all still on the board,
and they went with Fernando Carmona.
The stomp on the ankle definitely does have me a little bit concerned.
Jackson Slater, what does this do to his prospects?
Carmona may be ahead of Jackson Slater.
They already had a development guard available if you wanted to,
and part of this is the Titans didn't move up sooner
and address the offensive line.
I would have liked to see the Titans
address offensive line with a trade up on day three.
They instead decide to just stick and pick
and they get Carmona.
I got to give that one a C again.
Another A grade for me, though, is Nick Singleton.
You wanted an explosive
dual threat running back with home run speed
that also has great size.
That's what you got Titans fans.
It just wasn't Jeremiah Love.
it was five rounds later with Nick Singleton.
And he doesn't have the vision, the instincts,
how to set up blocks, how to read blocks, all that.
He doesn't have that to his bag, which is why he dropped here.
But he's got elite college production.
He's still a young player, home run speed, dual threat ability,
fantastic size at 6 foot 220.
Nick Singleton is maybe my favorite pick of the entire draft.
Look at how things shook out there.
Jackie Marshall is a C to me.
Interior defensive line help.
You have Jeff.
You have John Franklin Myers.
You just drafted Keldrick Fault.
You traded for Solomon Thomas.
You brought in Jordan Elliott.
Like the Titans just have so many resources
on the interior defensive line already
that Jackie Marshall is an athletic,
run-stopping defensive tackle
who can penetrate gaps and shoot
as a former edge who put on weight
and good character and all that.
I get it, but
I just, to not get, you know, secondary
and to take interior defensive line,
it gets a C for me.
Pat Coogan, though, again, an A-minus.
To get a center that late
who could come in and potentially start from day one,
a former Rose Bowl MVP,
which is crazy to say,
a guy with elite football character
who's going to be smart, tough,
have all the intangibles that you want.
Love to pick of Pat Coogan.
That's an A-minus.
And then finally,
You have Jared Kinnick, who I said yesterday was out of Arkansas
because I was reading my Carmona notes.
He's actually out of Oklahoma.
But Kinnick is just a special teams player.
I give it a C-plus.
He could come in, maybe make an impact on special teams right away
for the Tennessee Titans.
But as a former college running quarterback who became a linebacker
who went to Tide-N in his final year,
what really is he?
I don't really know.
I don't feel comfortable saying he's anything right now
other than a special teams contributor.
So again, a B plus overall grade for the Titans.
I like how they were aggressive.
They hit some of their needs.
They helped Cam Ward.
But at the end of the day,
I would have liked to see an offensive line
addressed a little bit earlier.
Some of the picks are a little bit of reaches,
in my opinion, in terms of what they could be.
Some big question marks in terms of the high-end potential
with some of these guys.
So a B-plus overall grade, what's your overall grade for the Tennessee Titans?
But I got to tell you, again, there are people who disagree with me.
They think that the Tennessee Titans did a lot better
than what I think including one of these draft grades
who think the Tennessee Titans had the best draft in the entire NFL.
Do want to let you know that today's episode is brought to you by Ruggiat.

Let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Again, we're looking at Tennessee Titans grades.
I gave you my individual grade for each individual selection.
but I gave the Titans a B plus overall for their aggressive approach
that maybe didn't address certain needs as quickly
as I would like to see them
and took some risky picks in there as well.
But again, not everybody agrees with me.
There is one public outlet that has the Tennessee Titans
within A plus draft grade,
the best draft grade of any team in the entire NFL.
It's over from sporting news.
And my guy Vinnie Iyer,
who works here for,
for locked on as well doing some fantasy football stuff for us.
Again, A plus grade.
He said this, quote,
GM Mike Borganzi built off the offseason momentum
to do right by new defensive-minded coach Robert Sala,
offensive coordinator Brian Dable,
and second-year franchise quarterback Cam Ward.
Getting Tate was better than reaching for a running back early.
And Singleton is a sleeper there late.
Fulk and Hill can change the defense,
and Carmona leads further offensive line upgrades.
The Titans are good enough now to sneak into the wild card hunt.
A plus draft grade for the Titans and good enough to make the playoffs.
That is high praise.
Now, if you thought the Titans crushed it and got an A plus and knocked it out of the park,
that is exactly what you're thinking and exactly what you want to hear.
And listen, let's be honest about this.
I didn't think that the Tennessee Titans draft was an A plus.
Again, I gave it a B plus, but I definitely do think it's good.
And if everything does break the right way,
I do believe that the Tennessee Titans have a playoff ceiling this year.
Can the Titans make the playoffs this year?
My answer is yes.
My answer is yes.
It is within the realm of possibilities.
Now, is it likely that the Tennessee Titans are going to make the playoffs this year?
No, it is not.
I am not going to predict that the Tennessee Titans make the playoffs.
I'm not going to have the Titans in my playoff predictions
when I do all the teams and everything for locked on NFL.
I'm not going to go with the Titans in the playoffs.
but last year,
last year for the Titans,
when we talked about what their floor
and what their ceiling was,
what's the worst the Titans could do,
what's the best the Titans could do?
Last year, I had the Titan ceiling at seven games.
I thought the most games,
the best outcome,
the best season that the Tennessee Titans could possibly have,
they'd win seven games.
Now, I thought their floor was three games.
I thought there was a chance,
if things went poorly, Brian Callahan, terrible, offensive line struggled, not enough weapons,
defense doesn't have enough pass rush, this and that, that the Titans could win three games.
Now, they hit their floor, unfortunately.
They weren't the only one who hit the floor.
The bodies hit the floor last year like Brian Callahan.
But again, this year is different.
My ceiling for the Titans this year, my floor for the Titans this year is higher than what it was last year.
Now the floor isn't that much higher, if I'm honest.
I could see the Titans win in four or five games and still having a rough year.
But the ceiling for this football team, last year seven wins, this year it's 10.
The ceiling of this football team has exponentially risen with this all season.
Add in Wondale Robinson, adding John Franklin Myers,
attacking the cornerback position, better backup quarterback.
Adding in more defensive line help with Keldrick Faw.
getting a running back that can actually be a home run threat for you and Nick Singleton,
getting a wide receiver who could potentially be your wide receiver one.
Now, I have my skepticism about whether Carnell Tate can be a wide receiver one.
That is absolutely the truth.
I'm a skeptic there.
But again, if he is,
if the fit is as perfect as it seems,
if Carnell Tate is a top five wide receiver,
Wondale Robinson moves the chains as a sloth.
lot God. Calvin Ridley, Chim D.K., Elyke, Eo Manor. That's good depth. At wide receiver, good
young depth as well. Think Tate, Iow Manor, D.K., Wondale. All guys 25 years are younger. Even without
Calvin Ridley, that's a solid young group. Calvin Ridley comes back healthy. Imagine if Calvin
Ridley is healthy for the entire season as just a role player. He's going to be awesome. So give me
Carnell Tate 1,000 yards.
Give me Calvin Ridley,
700.
Give me Wondale Robinson, 700.
I.O. and D.K.
Gunner helm.
Like, the offensive talent is much better.
It's the offensive line
that we got to worry about.
And the Titans defense,
I've said it before and I'm going to talk about it again soon.
But the path
to the playoffs for the Titans
is the defense.
So, again, Vinnie I are here, the top grade in the entire freaking draft
touting the Titans as a potential wildcard team.
And there is a reasonable path to it.
There's a reasonable path there.
Again, likely, no.
Reasonable path, absolutely available, absolutely on the table right now.
Now, that's not the only high grade that the Titans got.
There were other high grades in here too.
the Sports Illustrated had the Tennessee Titans as an A grade, just an outright A.
One of the best grades of the entire draft gave the Jags a D.
What are the Jags doing, man?
We'll talk about that in a second.
But, you know, the analysis here from Sports Illustrated is
Tennessee was busier than anyone in free agency,
kept it rolling in the draft after taking Tate
to give second-year quarterback Cam Ward an elite perimeter talent.
General manager Mike Borganzi traded back into the first round
and selected 21-year-year.
old fault to play alongside Jeffrey Simmons and John Franklin Myers. Tate is a stud having caught 51
passes, 8-175 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2025. Second round Hill is a terrific fit in Robert
Salas defense giving Tennessee an early starter at the second level. NFL network, I believe
it was Chad Ruter. He gave the Tennessee Titans an A as well in his draft grades,
which it was an A-minus, whatever, A-minus A, close enough, you know, but, you know, but, you.
He was impressed by what the Tennessee Titans did in the draft.
Again, more than mine, he said the Titan selection of the draft's top receiver was a surprise,
not because Tate's talent didn't merit it, but because top defenders,
Arvell Reese, and Sunny Stiles were available, said the Titans flipped mid-round picks for Falk,
who fits Robert Salas' defensive scheme perfectly because of his strength and his length.
The Titans found great value in their only day two selection by taking Hill
an athletic hard-hitting middle linebacker.
He said finding Singleton in the fifth should pay dividends
because he's a good dual threat back
who played on a bad Penn State team.
I've heard a lot of people say that Penn State was just bad in 2025
and like Clemson, you know, all their players
should be looked at a little bit differently based on how they did in 2024
rather than in 2025.
And if that's the case, well, Nick Singleton went over a thousand total yards in
2024 and was absolutely fantastic.
So look, I had it as a B plus, but right there, that's A plus, A, A minus from some big publications.
So the Titans getting a lot of love.
And quite honestly, if you go through like all of the grades, I got six grades in here that I think showed a pretty good example of how people are feeling about the Titans along with my own.
But if you go through, you know, every draft grade all over the place,
most of these grades for the Titans are a B at minimum.
Most of them are B, B plus A, A minus,
and again, an A plus, best in the NFL.
So I think overall,
it doesn't make you a Titans homer
to say that the Titans had a very good NFL draft process.
Now, then again, there are people who disagree with me
and disagree with that,
and don't think that the Titans did very well,
and that includes ESPN's Mel Kiper.

Let's cap off today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Again, we're looking at some Tennessee Titans draft grades.
I gave you my B plus,
but we looked at some outside publications
who had A plus, A minus.
Now we've got to talk about some folks
who maybe did not enjoy the Tennessee Titans draft as much.
Before I get into it,
I do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans
your first listen each and every day.

But again, Mel Kiper, the godfather of draft coverage,
did not like the Tennessee
Titans NFL draft. He had them at a C plus, which is below average.
He talked about some of the issues. He said there was a good case to be made that
Rvel Reese should have been the pick at number four, but I'm not going to knock general
manager Mike Borganzi for prioritizing getting Ward support.
Okay, well then why are you knocking Mike Borganzi for giving Cam Ward support,
getting Carnell Tate? I think it was more of the Keldrick Falk
selection here that Mel Kiper doesn't agree with.
There are questions about Fulke's production
two sacks last year after 7 in 2024
but there aren't any about his physical traits.
I'm putting some stock and Sala being able to maximize Fulke's power
and 6'276 pound frame.
Anthony Hill can serve as a backup linebacker,
maybe even push to start ahead of Cody Barton.
I think he is going to start ahead of Cody Barton,
honestly. The Titans also landed a backup garden
Fernando Carmona and another option at center and Pat Coogan, but this class didn't pack much
punch beyond Tate. If Fult can turn up the sack totals as a rookie, then this grade would improve.
Okay, well, you know, to say that, but then earlier say, I'm putting some stop in Sala being
able to maximize Fulke's power and frame. Well, if you think that Robert Sala is going to be able to
maximize Keldricks Falk's power and you're not knocking General Manager Mike Borgonzi for
prioritizing getting Cam Ward support with Cardinal Tate.
And you think that Nick Singleton is another piece that is decent value
and can have a nose for the end zone.
And you mention all these good things for the Tennessee Titans
and why you like their picks.
But then to give them a C plus,
I don't know.
Like if your big problem with the Titans draft class is Keldrick Falk,
what's he going to be?
But yet again, at the same time,
you're saying you're putting stock into that,
then that doesn't make much sense to me.
that seems like you're, the math that you did on the paper doesn't end up with the answer
that you gave in the grade.
So that's kind of how I feel about that.
Now, the next one that, excuse me, did not like the Tennessee Titans
was USA Today, Nate Davis, had the Titans at 25th ranked draft class C plus.
He gave a bunch of examples of why the Titans did well.
Carnell Tate, Caldric Falk should play big snaps as starters.
Second round linebacker Anthony Hill might just make a push for defensive rookie of the year.
That's what he wrote.
Anthony Hill might push for defensive rookie of the year,
given the way players at his position to say nothing of Hill's inherent ability
tend to thrive in head coach Robert Salas scheme.
So you think that Falk and Tate are going to be starters week one,
Anthony Hill might push for defensive rookie of the year.
But you gave the Titans a C plus?
It doesn't make sense.
Now, he goes on to say that he doesn't think that Carnell Tate
is a perennial pro-bowl talent or material.
He also says that, and this is the confusing part,
Titans fans will be left wondering for some time
whether Borgonzi should have figured out a way to deal up one spot
for Notre Dame running.
that Jeremiah Love, who went number three to Arizona,
where he seems miscast at present.
Well, just because he's miscast in Arizona
doesn't have anything to do with the Titans.
And seriously knocking the Titans draft
because Mike Borganzi didn't trade up in the top five
to draft a running back who didn't make sense for Arizona anyway.
Like, that logic right there just doesn't do it for me.
The Titans get a C plus grade
because Burgonzi should have traded up to three to get Jeremiah Love?
I think they might have been taking Cornell Tate the entire time anyway.
It might have been Cornell Tate anyway, even over Jeremiah Love.
So how is that a knock on the Titans?
And tell me the Titans fan out there
that wanted the Titans to trade up in the draft.
I mean, there are love nuts out there who maybe we're pushing for that,
but I think that's absolutely insane.
And pro football focus had the Titans with a B-minus,
just an average grade.
They didn't have like reasoning of why they gave the Titans that grade.
They just had like a breakdown for each player.
But like B-minus, all right.
I don't see how you could go lower than a B.
I gave a B-plus.
I don't see how you could go lower than a B.
Again, when you have people out here saying this is the best draft class
in the entire NFL,
to go the other way and say it's one of the worst,
that to me is just way overdoing it.
You get a potential number one wide receiver
for your young quarterback.
You get a potential young incredibly disruptive,
interior defensive linemen.
You get potentially the highest upside linebacker
in the NFL draft.
You add offensive line depth.
You get some high upside athletes at the end.
You add Nick Singleton, who again,
if Anthony Hill has the second highest upside
in the draft behind Sunny Stiles,
Nick Singleton might have the second highest upside in the draft behind Jeremiah Love.
And that's what you do on day three.
Again, I got to give it a B plus, others giving it A's, no way you're lower than a B.
Either way, let me know your draft grade for the Tennessee Titans down below each individual player,
their overall approach, very fun, and let me just say this.
There are some who will be in the comments or will say,
draft grades don't matter, blah, blah, blah, blah, and you are right.
draft grades don't matter.
What media people or podcast hosts or the grades that those people give,
they really do not matter.
But it's fun.
And being a football fan is fun.
The reason that I started liking football,
the reason I played football,
the reason I watch football,
the reason I like the Titans is because it's fun.
It's entertainment.
And you know what I find entertaining?
I find mock drafts entertaining.
I find draft grades entertaining.
I find power rankings, entertaining.
You know why?
Because every second that I'm talking about draft grades or power rankings
or mock drafts or whatever,
I'm not thinking about the horrors of the world.
You know what I mean?
The reason I like football is for entertainment
and draft grades are entertaining.
So that's what I got to say about that.
You cry babies crying.
Draft grades don't matter.
Yeah, we all know that draft grades don't matter.
It doesn't mean they aren't fun.
All right, but with that being said,
that's going to do it for today's edition
of Locked-on Titans.
I have so much content playing for you guys this week.
Day one rolls for these rookies,
longtime projections for these rookies,
maybe a mock draft later in the week to look at 2027
for some fun there as well.
All the different fits.
Got film content coming on the TikTok Titans YouTube channel.
The draft was here.
It was so much fun, but we got so much more to dive into
in the Titans or in the Titans,
middle of OTAs and the rookies are going to be joining by the end of the week.
So football is going to be here before you know it.
Get subscribe, stay subscribe, thumbs up on the video, tighten up down in the chat.
That's going to do it for me today, folks.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
