Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans Elic Ayomanor PROVING HATERS WRONG After DOMINATING Week 1 of Training Camp
Episode Date: August 2, 2026The Tennessee Titans have made it through the first week of training camp and now is the perfect time to look at things that have gone how we expected and some things that haven't. There are some thin...gs though that Tyler may have gotten wrong. Like Elic Ayomanor, who is breaking out in camp and could be a starter sooner rather than later. One of the things everyone expected that seems to be proving true, is how perfect of a fit Brian Daboll is with Cam Ward. Ward is already showing the growth we hoped for. Pads come on this week for the Titans though and that means things will change. Especially at certain positions where we expect battles for starting roles at edge , safety, linebacker and offensive line. Elykoi Manor is proving me wrong after dominating the first week of Tennessee Titans training camp.
I'll tell you what else I think I got wrong on today's edition of Locked on Titans.
You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked On Podcast Network,
your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans.

We're going to go over the biggest position battles to watch
and talk about where they're at after week one.
We're going to talk about some stuff.
I think I got right going into Tennessee Titans training camp
like Brian Daibble being a perfect fit for Cam Ward.
But we're going to start with some things that I'll
I think I might have gotten wrong going into Tennessee Titans training camp,
and that includes my thoughts on Elylech I.O. Manor who is absolutely dominated the first week of camp.
Every single day it feels like.
He has made a big time play.
Day one, we get the red zone touchdown from Cam Ward.
Day two, we get the big time jump over top of Cordell Flott.
We got a 60-yard touchdown, scramble drill on the sidelines.
And then on Saturday, in the open practice, he has a couple more big time plays,
some eye openers, some contested catches, multiple catches on the day.
Like Ellic Iommanner is taking a star turn right now.
And Calvin Ridley and his media availability on Saturday,
even called Elykeyeomanner a star multiple times.
This is someone who is taking a leap in year two.
His body looks absolutely insane.
I had somebody say to me in a private message last week.
Like, hey, I know it might have been in the comments here on YouTube.
Hey, I know that, you know, D.K. Metcalf is considered like the most built,
the most stacked, the most yoked wide receiver in the NFL.
But if you look at Elyke-ioner, you look at the thumbnail picture that I used for YouTube for this episode,
I mean, again, he looks like he took Super Soldier Serum.
Like, he looks like the Captain Canada is what we need to.
to call him. Like he looks like a Canadian
superhero right now.
And if his play on the field can match
what his body looks like,
then we do have a
starring level wide receiver. And again,
I say proving me wrong, because
coming into Tennessee Titans training
camp, I honestly, if you ask me,
I had Jim D.K. As somebody
who I thought had a better chance
of breaking out this season. DK.
I thought was a better receiver than
ELEC I-O-Manner last year.
D.K. obviously has the explosive
speed. He can play in that Z-wide receiver role that Calvin Ridley plays in. He can also be used as a
bigger-bodied slot guy. So I thought the versatility of Chimdeka, what we saw last year,
the speed, all of that. And let's just say what it is. I doubted Elyke-o Manor because of the
drops. Last year, he had a 20% on-target drop rate. And a lot of people are like, hey, a lot of
those could have been bad passes. No, that's what on-target drop rate means. It means the pass was good,
And you dropped it anyway, 20%.
That is not good.
It was one of the worst numbers.
It might have been the worst in the NFL.
So I had my reasons to doubt Elyle-O-Manner.
A contested catch guy with drops problems,
not an elite route runner,
grew up in the Canadian system where, you know,
it's like you see those videos of kids playing soccer in Spain,
you know, on the 11-year-old, 12-year-old
Barcelona teams and stuff like that.
And it's like, those kids would beat our high.
schoolers in America, the training level is just not the same.
That is the difference in football training in America versus football training in Canada.
It's just where Eli-O-Manner has talked about this himself.
So I just had my doubts.
And again, it's one week of camp.
So I am not saying I'm wrong about all these things or I'm right about all these things
for certain because we just don't know.
But through the first week of camp,
Elycao Manor 100% proven as doubters wrong, proving me wrong.
and proving that he can step up and become a starting wide receiver.
And I talked about it last week during those days where Ehrlich was having good practices.
If Elic Aioner does become a true starting level player,
like a Michael Pittman Jr. level player,
which is kind of a comparison that I've used for him at times,
that would be incredible for the Titans' offense and for Cam Ward to have
Carnell Tate, big body, good hands, make plays.
Elyke I-O-Manner, Gunner-Helm, those three giants to help Cam Ward, and you can use
Carnell Tate in more creative ways if ELEC Ion-Manner can be your full-type X.
Like it just, it opens up a new pathway for the Titans' offense that I think would be the
most ideal for Cam-Wort.
So I might have been wrong about Ehrlich-I-O-Manner being the young wide receiver that
takes a step forward.
I thought it might be Chim D-K, and it looks like ELEC-I-O-Manner early on.
Another thing that I think I may have gotten wrong,
and this is a great time for you guys in the comments to take your victory laps.
I may have underestimated just how much John Franklin Myers is going to play on the edge.
Again, I've said, you don't want, like, I could eat a salad for dinner with no protein.
I could eat a salad for dinner and I'll be happy.
I love salad.
It's great, awesome.
I'll be happy.
But you can't eat salad for dinner every day.
You need some protein.
You need your steak, your beef.
your chicken, your lamb, your whatever you want it to be.
All right, you got to have it.
Salic cake completely take over protein.
I know the vegans in the comments are good.
Yes, it can.
Not for me.
Okay.
But I had made the argument, yeah,
John Franklin Myers can play on the edge.
And in some matchups,
he will play on the edge.
But John Franklin Myers was signed
and given $20 million per year
to come in and play on the interior
and rush from the interior next to Jeffrey Simmons.
Like Jeffrey Simmons said,
himself. Yeah, I could play on the edge, but I know what my job is. Well, I have been saying that and
thinking 9010 split, John Franklin Myers, 90 inside, 10 outside. I don't think that that is correct.
I think I was wrong. I think I underestimated how much the Titans are going to use JFM on the edge.
I would say it's probably 33, 667, 25, 75 right now. And again, that may not seem like a big jump.
That may not seem like a big deal. But I always, and if some of you are new to my content,
You'll find out quickly.
I will always admit to you guys when I think I got something wrong.
I'm not ashamed to get things wrong.
We're out here guessing all summer what the Titans are going to do.
If I knew 100% certainty what happened in every single movie,
it wouldn't be a fun movie to watch.
So, hey, that happens.
I think I underestimated how much John Franklin Myers will play on the edge.
And I think with Femiola Dejo, not quite being there.
And we'll talk more about him in a second.
With Keldrick Falk and all the change he's going through and being a real
I don't think you can count on him to be a day one starter.
I think John Franklin Myers may be the guy that we look at and say,
okay, Jeffrey Simmons, Solomon Thomas, John Franklin Myers,
Jermaine Johnson, when Jfm kicks inside next to Jeff,
it may be more veteran guy like Jacob Martin on the outside as an edge rusher,
especially in those pass rush packages.
So Femi and Keldrick Falk may not be considered a starter.
Maybe JFM on early downs, Jacob Martin on late downs,
and they are the veterans.
So I think I should have given that more credence than I did coming into training camp.
Again, one week of non-padded practice doesn't make me fully wrong,
but it does look like it's trending in that direction.
Another thing that I do want to mention is Jackson Slater.
Now, I'm just throwing this in to try to be honest,
but I am, I don't think I'm as wrong on this one as I am the first two items.
Jackson Slater, I have said, I don't think the Titans really like it.
They drafted a guy in the same exact round in Fernando Carmona.
They tried to trade up for Keelan Rutledge, the guard who went to the Texans in the first round.
They have Cordell Volson given him the first opportunity,
even though he's a veteran journeyman and Jackson Slater's been here for a year.
And a lot of people who don't agree with me that Jackson Slater has been pushed to the wayside internally would say,
well, Volson is just here to be a veteran for Slater to beat out.
They want Slater to beat him out.
Well, the very first practice, they gave Jackson Slater a majority of the first team reps.
After literally before practice, saying Cordell Voson and Austin Schlotman would be given the first opportunities to be starters.
So why did they let Cordell Vosan run one play with the first team offense and then take them out and put in Jackson Slater?
Why would they do that?
Well, Jackson Slater immediately false started.
Slater has been okay throughout practice, but since then, Volson is.
got more of the first team opportunity.
So it's like, in my mind, you could say I was wrong.
They're giving Jackson Slater a more serious look at right guard
than maybe what I initially tried to present.
But what I would tell you is to be a counter and stick to my guns,
I think that might have been,
hey Jackson, get in there quick and prove that you're not the guy
so that we can move on.
That's what that might have been.
So keep a pin in that one.
A couple of other small things that I want to mention that I think I got wrong.
Anthony Hill starting immediately in week one.
Anthony Hill is buried on the depth chart right now
behind a lot of veterans.
And yeah, he very well may climb his way up.
Robert Sala talked about how he's dropped 4% body fat already.
He's learning the mental aspects of everything.
Anthony Hill is working on his body, learning the playbook.
I don't think he's going to be able to jump quick enough
to get to be a starter week one.
So it probably will be Cody Barton is the starter week one.
I'm unhappy to report that, but again, it's week one.
I'm not waving the white flag and admitting defeat,
but I'm man enough to get on here and tell you,
it looks like I may be wrong about Anthony Hill starting week one.
And I thought that Nick Singleton would have a big impact in year one by the end of the season.
I'm less convinced about that now, but it is very early on.
So Anthony Hill and Nick Singleton, my hopes for them making an impact,
shaking a little bit, but not totally out on that either.
I'm not admit and defeat completely on that.
but those are some things that it looks like I could be wrong about.
Now, let's talk about some things that I think I got right.
I'm going to let you know that today's episode is brought to you by FanDool Sportsbook baseball fans.

And let's continue today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, we're looking at stuff that I think I got wrong going into Tennessee Titans training camp after one week.
Now, I want to talk about some stuff that I got right.
We're going to finish the show with an update after the first week on all the big position battles
around the roster.
So much to go into on tomorrow's Sleeper Titans podcast.
I'm going to do a preview of putting the pads on the Titans
or putting the pads on on Monday.
I'm going to be here to break it all down with you guys.
Football is so bad.
Make sure that you stay locked in
with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world.
Locked on Titans.
But with that being said,
I was so right about Brian Daible
being the perfect fit for Cam Ward.
And there's one thing in particular
that made me feel like,
yep, I was right.
This was the perfect guy.
You could not have picked a better guy in the NFL who was available.
You know, obviously I'll pull Kevin O'Connell off Minnesota
or Sean McVey off the Rams to deal with Cammore.
Sure, you know.
But out of the guys that were available,
you could not have picked a better offensive coordinator
to pair with Cam Ward than Brian Dable.
And in Brian Dable's mic'd up video,
the Titans put it out.
It's about two minutes and 20 seconds long.
nothing too crazy, nothing too crazy.
His encouragement for Cam Ward,
nice throw there, but there was a moment where
someone else
was out on the field playing quarterback, not Cam Ward.
Cam Ward was on the sideline next to Brian Daibald.
And Davele looks at him and he says,
hey, when you're not out there,
make sure that you're up here by me
so we can talk about what you're seeing.
Small moment.
I mean, literally three, five second clip
that not a lot of people paid attention to,
but it was what was most thought-provoking to me in that video.
And to me, it shows
Brian Daible is going to be hard on Cam.
And that's what Cam needs.
He needs tough love.
He needs dad love, not mom love,
right now in my opinion.
And Brian Daible is going to give him that dad love
where I think Brian Callahan was more of a feminine touch.
Not making it like that.
I'm just saying Brian Callahan is very,
very, you know, positive reinforcement.
But, blah, whereas Brian Dable is a little more,
fire and brimstone.
You know what I mean?
And I think that's so perfect.
And in that moment, he was saying,
hey, don't be back there goofing off,
talking, doing other stuff,
blah, blah.
If people are out on the field,
you need to be right here next to me
so you can learn from that too.
And it goes back to something that Robert Sala
and Brian Dable have both talked about
with the way that they orchestrate
practice. So Cam Ward doesn't run the plays in the same practice. Eventually he'll run those
plays, sure, but in the same practice, Cam doesn't run the same plays as Mitch Trubisky.
Mitch Trubisky doesn't run the same plays as Will Levis. Why do they do that? The Titans coaches
have said that they do that on purpose so that every single quarterback can get a look at every
play. Yeah, Cam, maybe you didn't run this play that Will Levis ran, but because
Will Levis ran this play and we filmed it, now you can watch Will run the play and learn from that.
They don't have enough reps for Cam Ward to run every single play.
And you need to get every single play on tape so that you can coach it.
Well, how do you do that?
Have all of your quarterbacks run different plays throughout the day.
So instead of each quarterback only getting to see whether it's them or not, you know, 15, 20 plays,
now they all get to see a bunch of different plays that all of them ran
and there's no overlap.
I think that's a really smart way to do it.
But again, part of that is, hey, Cam,
you're not going to get to run these plays today.
You need to be watching your teammates run them
so that you can learn from them
even though you're not running that particular play today.
And telling Cam, don't be back there,
you're up here by me, learning, talking me through,
telling me what you're seeing,
you read? What would you have done? Where would you have gone? Why? Why not? What did he do that was
smart? What did he not do that he should have? You are constantly on the clock when you're here,
no breaks, mental or physical always. And that's sort of tough love. That sort of no, don't goof around.
No, don't take a break. That reminds me of Cam, we're going, no water breaks. We'll drink water
after we're done. It's the same type of determined fierce coaching
that Cam Ward gave to those young quarterbacks at his Under Armour Football Camp.
That is the type of player that Cam is, the type of person Cam is,
and that's the type of coaching that he's going to want.
Brian Daible, the perfect fit for Cam Ward, I'm convinced.
I was right. It was obvious all along.
But I also think that I'm right about Gunner Helm breaking out.
Gunner Helm, every single practice.
He doesn't get the highlight plays.
He doesn't get the O. Elikayo Manor Cardinal Tate jumping over,
cornerbacks and stuff.
But literally go through every practice this week.
Gunner Helm, multiple catches.
And all of Cam Ward's maturations,
all of the examples that people want to talk about, the report, stuff,
everything that people want to say about Cam Ward growing up as a quarterback,
It seems to involve Gunner Helm.
Oh, Cam could have take a deep shot down the field to Cornell Tate and double coverage,
but he dumped it off to Gunner Helm, and Helm got seven yards and made it second and three.
Oh, Cam Ward could have, you know, tried to run and escape it, but he just dumped it off to Gunner Helm.
Oh, Cam Ward strike over the middle of the Gunner Helm.
Oh, Gunner Helm, sideline catch, strike from Camor.
Every single practice.
You hear about Gunn or Helm.
And again, it's not the highlight plays.
it's the chain moving place.
Is there anything exciting about a seven-yard completion on first down?
A dump off to a tight end and he gets tackled for seven yards.
Or is there excitement around a 60-yard,
Elek Mago Manor over top of the corner, Bo?
What do people want to hear about?
They want to hear about the 60-yard touchdown, the mauging.
You know what I mean?
Elykeyeomanner doesn't moss people, he mocks them, okay?
Captain Canada.
but again
the maturation of Cam Ward
the breakout of Gunner Helm
will be boring
it'll be those
okay I could take a shot downfield on first and 10
but why not just take my 7
you'll never go broke taking profit
that is where Cam Ward
can grow
again like Robert Salah said
we don't need you to be Superman all the time
most of the time
need you to be Clark Kent
be Peter Parker, not Spider-Man.
Brand-new day was awesome.
Just had to throw a Spider-Man reference in there.
But I think I was right about Brian Dable for Cam
and about Gunner Helms breakout.
And I was so right about Austin Schlotman
being the starting center with no competition.
It is so confirmed now.
You know, everything.
And J.C. Latham himself literally said this offense is so hard.
They have 300 different pass protection calls.
They have 200 different adjustments.
And based on the alignment,
J.C. Latham's interview was really football boring and nerdy.
But basically the whole time he just said,
this offense is so hard to learn and I'm trying.
Like, that's basically what he was saying the whole time.
You know, and that's why Austin Slotman is going to be the starting center
with no real competition.
Right guard is the competition, not center.
Slotman is confirmed as the starter all year, unless he gets hurt.
Okay, period.
Mitch Trubisky is so quarterback too.
Will Levis is not going to make this team.
I feel as right as ever.
And shout out to Levis.
I know people are dogging him for saying,
I feel like I'm one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the NFL.
But here's the thing.
If you can do something or you can't do something, you're right.
Whatever you think about yourself, you're right.
If you think you can't, if you think you can, you're right.
So, yeah, it's not likely that Will,
Levis is going to turn his career around and turn into one of the 32 starters in the NFL, it's not
likely. But if he does, that starts with him believing in him. You'll never do anything if you
don't believe in yourself. And when the entire world doesn't believe in you, you are all you have.
So I am not going to sit here and clown Will Levis for believing in himself. If you don't,
you should clown yourself. Because one day you're going to wake up and the whole world's going to be against you.
It's going to feel like that.
You're going to feel alone.
And if you don't believe in yourself, first and foremost, inside,
you're never getting out of that hole.
Other people aren't going to be able to do it for you.
They can support you, but it starts in here with you.
So I don't really care if Will Levis succeeds or fails somewhere else.
I hope he gets another shot, though,
and I'm not going to clown him for believing in himself,
even if I don't agree with him.
But he's not going to win the backup quarterback spot.
I don't think he's going to be on the team.
Jaron Canick, the rookie tight end.
I'm going to keep it quick, but every practice,
the rookie tight end slash fullback slash special teams dynamo,
I told you, Jaron Kanek is going to make this football team.
He's going to make the team splashing every practice making plays.
Cornerback churn,
I told you that I don't think that cornerback five, six
is actually on the roster,
and the Titans have literally cut three cornerbacks
and signed three new veteran cornerbacks.
They got rid of all those.
undrafted free agent young guys and brought in veterans to compete.
I told you that was going to happen like two weeks ago
when we did the cornerback training camp episode because it's obvious.
I give you the first week some of these young guys.
All right, pads coming on.
It's time to get the veterans in here and really get to work.
But with that being said, pads are coming on.
Where do all of the biggest position battles for the Tennessee Titans stand
after week one?
Some of them, like we've talked about already, are not where I expect.

So let's cap off today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Again, we talked about some things that I might have gotten wrong
coming into Tennessee Titans training camp,
but we talked about some things that I probably got right as well.
Now, before the pads come on on Monday, we made it, baby.
I want to do an update on all of the biggest position battles on the roster
through week one of training camp.
Before we do, want to thank you again for making Locked on Titans,

Locked on Titans.
But first we start with the biggest position battle of them all,
and that is offensive line.
The offensive line is about to really start fighting.
The trenches, edge rusher, O line, run defense, run blocking.
Yeah, passing has been, you know, 7-1s, this and that.
All that is more helpful during the non-padded times than the trench play is.
You can't simulate real trench play without the pads on.
Jermaine Johnson talked about this in his recent interview.
that, you know, it's a totally different world out there when the pads come on for the trenches.
It's just totally different.
It's real football finally.
It ain't real football, especially for the offensive line.
The offensive line can't grab the pads and use their hands
and utilize their size and their masks.
Like Robert Sala even admitted it that without pads on,
the offensive line is at the greatest disadvantage of any group.
So let's see it, offensive line.
Who's going to win the battle at right guard?
Austin Shlopeman, or Cordell Voson, Jackson Slater.
Fernando Carmona.
According to my guy, Zach Lyons, Fernando Carmona has been a little impressive,
but he liked what Slater had done as well.
Cordell Voson considered the starter again.
I admitted that I might have been a little wrong on how real of a shot Jackson Slater is going to get.
But part of my brain is telling me that the way that they did that on the first day,
it does make me believe that Slater, I might be.
more right about that, then I'll hold.
I'll let you guys win that battle for now.
We'll see who wins the war on Jackson Slater.
But Slater's going to get a real chance.
He's already getting rotated in with the ones.
Volson is getting an opportunity with the ones.
They're going to be tested.
Jeffrey Simmons, John Franklin Myers,
Solomon Thomas, Jordan Elliott,
even Jackie Marshall is explosive getting up field like
they're going to be challenged.
But right now, where things sit,
Volson, still in the lead.
to start at right guard.
And we know, like I told you, Austin Slopman is going to start at center unless he gets hurt.
And let's hope that doesn't happen.
So, J.C. Latham, back at right tackle.
Dan Moore at left tackle.
We know Skoronsky at left guard.
That's where things are at right now.
But swing tackle, Buffalo chicken dip, my boy, Brendan Crenshaw Dixon, out of Florida,
has more of a shot at the swing tackle spot over Austin Declis than I expected.
him and Declos have been rotating it right tackle throughout the first week when J.C. Latham had been out.
I think that Brendan Crenshaw-Dixon, who has remade his body, looks a lot leaner, stronger.
Brendan Crenshaw-Dixon has a real chance to beat out Austin Declis,
and I didn't think that he had as good of the chance as he actually has based on what we know from week one of training camp.
Moving along, though, quarterback two, like I said, is over.
Mitch Trubisky is quarterback too.
They can say Will Levis is fighting for the backup
spot. It's over.
Mitch Trubisky is not giving up the backup quarterback spot.
So we can throw that away.
Wide receiver depth.
Xavier Restrepo continues to make plays,
but I don't think anything's changed right now based on what I know
with the top five wide receivers we know.
And then Bryce Oliver and KJ Osborne right now, six and seven.
So Xavier Estrepo has not overtaken.
uh, Bryce, or KJ Osborne as things stand right now.
So Restrepo still has time.
Restrepo has played with the first team, the second team, the third team.
He's been all over the place.
That's a good sign.
That's a good sign right there that they're giving him chances
to prove that he's capable of being with the second and first team,
but can't put him over KJ Osborne right now.
Moving to the defensive side of the ball.
Like I talked about earlier,
I think edge two.
Jermaine Johnson is the number one edge on the team.
I think edge two is secretly a combination of John Franklin Myers and Jacob Martin.
I don't think that Femiola Dejo or Keldrick Falk are going to be seriously fighting for that.
I think like we talked about at the beginning of the show, John Franklin Myers,
Solomon Thomas, Jeffrey Simmons, Jermaine Johnson.
I think that's your starting defensive line on first down.
in the very first pass rush situation the Titans have.
I think it's going to be JJ, J.J. F.m., Jeff, and Jacob Martin,
who is the most wiggly speed rusher that the Titans have on the roster.
And I talked about how I don't like that.
I wish they had someone else in there as well.
But regardless, that's what I think it is right now.
So Edge 2 is neither Femmy or Falk, in my opinion.
Linebacker 2, like I talked about earlier,
it's not Anthony Hill.
It's still Cody Barton right now.
And we've seen some practice reports like my guy, Zach Lyons had practice reports saying that
Muhammad Diabadi, Darian Musai over Anthony Hill right now at linebacker.
So they're making the rookie earn it.
I thought he might get more chances earlier than that with the way he was calling the defense in OTAs.
But it's a lot on Anthony Hill's plate right now.
They've got to remake his body and they got to remake his mind for a new scheme.
So it's just a lot to take in.
Should maybe be a little more patient there.
Cody Barton is certainly linebacker 2 right now
and Mohamed Di Abadi might be the guy.
Challenging for that next to Cedric Gray.
And then safety too.
Remember a couple of weeks ago we talked about
is Tony Adams actually safety number 2
instead of Amani Hooker, the answer is no.
Kevin Winston and Ammani Hooker are starting at safety right now.
So that's what most people expected with Hooker starting on PUP,
his decline in play.
I wondered.
Tony Adams.
He's got a lot of history in the defense with the coaches.
Could he maybe?
Nope, right now.
It's Amani Hooker, Kevin Winston,
Alante Taylor, Cordell Flott, Marcus Harris,
Cody Barton, Cedric Gray,
John Franklin Myers, Solomon Thomas, Jeffrey Simmons,
Jermaine Johnson.
On offense, it's Dan Moore,
Peter Skoronsky, Austin Shlopman, Cordell Voulson,
J.C. Latham.
Carnell Tate, Elyle Iow Manor,
Wondale Robinson, Cam Ward,
Tony Pollard, Tajay Spears,
Ms. Trubesky backup quarterback.
That's where the depth chart is right now in practice.
So a lot of that is just status quo, quite frankly.
But again, the pads are coming on.
The battles really begin,
and I'm going to be here to break it all down with you guys
all week long.
we are back. Get subscribe, stay subscribed. That's going to do it for me today, folks. As always,
