Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans Femi Oladejo, Keldric Faulk EDGES of the FUTURE & Wan'Dale Robinson Quiet Impact
Episode Date: May 25, 2026The Tennessee Titans have one of the best interior defensive lines in the NFL, but the edge rusher spot is still a big question. Femi Oladejo in year two and Keldric Faulk as a rookie will need to ste...p up quickly, but if they do, they could be the future at the position for years to come. Oladejo is even getting some help from a Titans legend in Jevon Kearse. On offense, all the hype has been around Carnell Tate and rightfully so, but Wan'Dale Robinson was the other important addition at receiver and his impact may be more quiet, but certainly still effective. Finally, the Titans will need to get some juice from their backup running backs too in Tyjae Spears and Nick Singleton. The Tennessee Titans could solve their edge rusher issue for years to come if Keldrick
Falk and Femiole-A-Dazio start out fast. I'll tell you why I think that's possible on today's
edition of Locked-on Titans.
You are Locked-on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked-on
podcast network, your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast. I am your host, Tyler Rowland, Titans.
Titans fans on today's show.
We are going to talk about how the running back room could get a huge boost
from a healthy Tajay Spears and rookie Nick Singleton.
We'll talk about some underrated options at wide receiver
that can make a big impact on the offense this year,
including Wondale Robinson.
But we got to start by talking about the Titans edge rusher duo
of Keldrick Falk and Femi Oladayjo
and why I think it's possible that they could solve the edge rusher problem
for years to come this season.
And again, we heard that Keldrick Falk in the open OTA last Thursday
actually had a sack during team drills.
And it seemed like a mostly offensive dominant performance
didn't hear a lot of highlights from the defense
outside of some of the young linebackers.
So for Keldrick Falk to be one of the people
to actually make an impact and get a sack in a drill in situation
that set up to majorly benefit the offense,
it shows good technique, it shows good athletic,
leticism because you're not bullying people without the pads on, things like that.
You've got to win with technique and those sorts of things.
So that's a good sign.
And I think Caldric Falk is someone who I admittedly,
I am guilty myself, have kept expectations low.
I'm not going to expect a ton from Keldrick Falk.
I'm not going to sit here and act like he's going to go Javon Curse in year one,
things like that.
I do not expect that to happen.
But it is possible.
it is possible that Keldrick Falk
who some people thought could be drafted
as high as 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
you know, in that middle teens range
Keldrick Fulk has that kind of talent.
Now there were concerns about his development,
his production, things like that
that led him to drop until the end of the first round.
But he was one of the first round talents
in this draft class where I didn't think
there were 32 first round talents.
And the Titans got two of them.
So if Keldrick Falk pays off on that talent right away, and again, gets the sack in OTAs,
maybe he's further along than we expect, the coaching that he's going to get from right now
until the beginning of the season, it's not impossible that it taps into that natural,
incredible talent that he has with the size, and it just unlocks everything.
I believe that, have you seen Aaron Whitecotton?
Did you see the videos of Aaron Whitecotton coaching the defensive line?
The intensity and the passion and the ferocity that he is coaching with?
Pretty crazy.
I think he can, it's no wonder.
Quinn and Williams from the New York Jet said,
oh, Aaron Whitecotton turned me from a very good young player
into an all-pro level player.
He changed my stance.
He did this and that.
Makes all the sense in the world with how hard Aaron Whitecotton coaches that
defensive line. Crazy.
Enjoyable to watch with him and Brian
Dable and Gus Bradley, Robert
Sala, the upbeat but
intense personalities on this team
makes me very excited. But that's a side note entirely.
But again, Caldric Falk with
that sort of coaching, the talent that we
know he already has, his physical prototype
bill, I think
maybe, and again, I'm guilty,
that we are underestimating the early
impact that he could have. And I think
one other thing that's majorly important
that I'm going to mention a lot
until we get to the season as a reminder,
because look, it needs to be known.
In Auburn's defensive system,
Keldrick Falk was asked to two-gap.
What does that mean?
Two-gapping, one-gapping.
Well, if you look at an offensive line,
think from a defensive perspective,
you're looking at an offensive line.
The gaps between the offensive linemen
are the gaps that the defense needs to guard.
So you'll have, you know, in some defenses, a one gap defense.
Everyone is responsible for one gap, the linebackers, the filling safety, the edges,
the defense on the deep feet, the interior defensive line, all right?
Everybody is responsible for a gap.
So when you only have to worry about your one gap, you can penetrate that gap,
you can shoot that gap, you can do different things.
Now, in other defenses, think about like an old school,
Pittsburgh Steelers, Dick Leboe, three, four defense.
The Pittsburgh Steelers you grew up with, if you're me.
Casey Hampton at Nose Tackle. Think Vince Wolf,
you know, things like that. That's a two-gapping system
where certain defensive linemen are responsible for two different gaps.
That frees up the linebackers to roam free
and not have to worry about so many responsibilities and just go make plays.
In Robert Salas' defense, it is a one-year.
gap system. So Caldric Falk at
Auburn had to be responsible
for two different gaps. You can't be as
aggressive. You can't penetrate as quickly.
You can't shoot as fast.
This is exactly why Tavondre Sweat was
traded because Tavondre Sweat at
his best is going to be a two
gaping interior defensive
run stuff. And Robert
Sala wants penetrators.
So if
Keldrick Falk
doesn't have to worry about
the responsibility of two
gap and can just shoot one gap and use his penetration, use his athleticism, his length,
his size, his strength.
If he can use all that with improved technique from coaching and just shoot one gap to be disruptive,
he might just, again, to the moon.
It might just be a perfect concoction of, we put this, we put this, we put this, we put this,
we put this, and it's boom.
Crackers are good.
They're not incredible, but you add a little breed cheese, you put a little jam on,
there, a little sweetness, a little tang, a little, you know,
and now these crackers are the best thing that I've ever had.
You know, it's that simple.
Put a little piece of a basil on there.
Like, maybe the Titans just put it all together
and Keldrick Falk turns into an absolute monster from day one.
Especially in this defensive line where you have Jeffrey Simmons,
you have John Franklin Myers, you have Jermaine Johnson.
Right, guys who are going to take some of that attention
as well. And then you add in Femiola Dejio. And again, we're talking about the edges of the future.
And if Keldrick Falk can do that from year one and parlay that forward into the player that we hope that he can become.
And then you get Femiole deja who is training. I think I saw it was Terry McCormick or John Glennon.
I get those two mixed up all the time. I'm sorry. But one of the two reported that
Javon Kurtz is actually going to be working with
Femiola Dezio during training camp
with the Titans on pass rushing
which I think is awesome
that's great, how much it'll help
we'll see but I hope it helps a lot
either way it's a cool story.
Femi and the freak, right?
And we'll probably talk about that
when it happens and discuss that
more when it actually happens during training camp
but let's just say
that
Javon Curse helps Femiole dejo
the same coaching
that I just hyped up for Keldrick Falk
is the coaching that's going to be working with Femiola-Dazio as well.
All right.
And he can just truly move forward.
They talked about that last year with Dinar Wilson
that, hey, we want to get him moving forward,
get him used to that.
But yet they would drop him back in coverage
and have him do outside linebacker stuff
because it was a 3-4, not in this defense.
He's playing hand-in-the-dirt defensive end going forward.
Robert Salas said it multiple times this all season already.
Nope, we're not.
having him be a linebacker. He's not
Sam. He's going to be a defensive end
and go forward.
And if he can actually
this time, truly just
focus on going forward. Proper
get-off. I don't think Femiole dejo's
get-off jumping off the line of scrimmage.
I don't think it's as good as it should be for the type
of athlete he is. Which makes
sense. He's been playing linebacker. He hasn't been trying
to shoot off the ball as fast as he possibly can
like a sprinter. So that can adjust.
And with, we heard Quinn
and Williams talk about the get-off improvements that
he got from Aaron White Cotton.
We saw some of that drill work
Aaron White Cotton was doing that the Titans posted
if you haven't seen those videos, go check that out.
Just again, ferocious.
So if Femio dejo's
get-off can improve, he can focus on leveraging
his physical gifts, he's getting that improved
coaching, he works with Javan Curse,
maybe get some pass-rupts tips from him,
doesn't have to worry about dropping back,
can just focus on again that violence and that
fire off and using his power
and his speed and his traits,
he could turn into the Jermaine,
replacement because again, Germain Johnson's on a one-year deal.
He's 27 years old. He's had a major injury.
Femio Lodazio can replace Jermaine Johnson as that starting three-down edge rusher.
Let Jermaine Johnson stay with the team on a contract extension,
but maybe go into a third rusher role where you have Falk and Femmy on the outsides.
Falk is that one, remember Gus Bradley described this.
Keldrick Falk on the outside is that prototypical defensive end,
with big-bodied size that can play on the outside,
but kick inside on pass rushing downs.
And eventually he takes over for John Franklin Myers
as that primary interior rusher
next to Jeffrey Simmons, and then eventually maybe
even replaces Jeffrey Simmons five, six years from now
as that primary guy.
But we're going to get them see them play together quite a bit.
But Keldrick Folk does that.
Femio dejo is the primary three-down edge rusher
and then you get, you know, a defensive pass rush guy to come in in the draft somewhere,
like a, you know, a smaller speed rusher that I was hoping for this all season, quite frankly.
But then you have Jermaine Johnson as he ages towards 30 as your backup power edge rusher behind Femmy.
You have Femmy and you have Falk and then you have your DPR who comes in on third downs with Femi
when Keldrick Fault kicks inside.
And if that isn't necessarily the path they go, well, I can tell you this.
a great path would be a top edge rusher in the NFL draft next year,
like a Dylan Stewart or Colin Simmons or something like that.
Keldrick Falk is your prototypical inside, outside defensive end.
Then Femiola-Dazio is your third edge rusher,
who comes in on the passing downs and can spell the alpha edge rusher
and Stewart or Simmons on early downs as part of the rotation.
That's a path forward as well that I would very much enjoy.
You know what I mean?
So that's still on the table.
But again, if you have Femi and you have Fulke,
can they take a step forward this year,
it could put them on the path to be the answer at edge,
and maybe this problem that has been an obvious problem
for the Titans for a few years can finally be answered.
That's what we have to hope for.
Again, how likely is it remains to be seen, but it's possible
with the coaching, the circumstances,
and some of the changes that we're going to see schematically
for both of these players.
But with that being said, we need to talk about some underrated guys
on the offensive side of the ball.
Remember, there were some absences at wide receiver
and allowed some younger guys to step up,
but Wondale Robinson,
not getting the excitement that he deserves.

Again, we talked about Femmy and Falk.
I think, I keep one to say Bulk and Skull for my old school Power Rangers fans out there,
really dating myself with that one.
Yes, I'm unc status at this point.
But again, we talked about Femmy and Falk and why they could be the edges of the future
if they both have a good start, and it's definitely possible.
But now I want to talk about some underrated players on the offensive side of the ball
coming out of OTAs last week.
Before we dive in, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titanjjjjort.

But Wondale Robinson, I don't think that Wondale Robinson is quite getting the excitement
that he deserves.
Now, it's funny because at first,
all the conversation about Wondale Robinson
when he was, before he was signed,
even to after he was signed is,
oh, Wondale Robinson, a number one wide receiver.
He got paid $70 million.
That's blah, blah, this and that,
and it was all dumb because that's not wide receiver won money.
He got, what, $17 million a year?
The best wide receivers in the NFL are getting a lot more than that.
Okay?
So that's not wide receiver won money.
and, you know, bad faith people trying to act like it was a bad signing
because, you know, he's a...
We knew that he's not the number one.
He is a slot-wide receiver
who's going to be a versatile weapon in the offense
and has been in the offense before.
We knew that.
So now, once that gets established,
then the excitement, like, goes the other way.
It was fraudulence and bad faith,
and now we've gotten to a place where it swung the total opposite way
where people are not excited enough.
about the addition of Wondell Robinson.
Now, granted,
Carnell Tate is happening,
the Tateauissance, you know what I mean,
which is more important.
If I had to choose,
I'd much rather Cornell Tate have a good season
than over Wondell Robinson.
But you know what we really want?
Both.
And I think both are going to happen.
Wondell Robinson is going to make a massive impact.
He's the second best wide receiver on the team on paper
as of right now, right?
We can't count on Calvin Ridley.
I think if you tell me
Calvin Ridley's going to be healthy for all 18 weeks,
I think Calvin Redley's better than Wondale Robinson.
I do, I do.
But I can't count on that.
So right now, in my mind, and especially at OTAs,
there was no Calvin Ridley, there was no Chim Dekay,
there was no Elykeyo Manor.
So Cornell Tate balls out.
Wondale Robinson makes catches.
And I just,
I keep thinking to myself,
it's going to be those two.
Jim may overtake Calvin Ridley in that Z spot.
That would be great for the Titans.
That would be great for everybody.
I hope that happens.
But like, I know that Wondell Robinson
is going to be out there and be productive
in the slot.
And I think that slot position in this offense
is ultimately going to be more important
than the Z spot with Ridley or DK.
Like the RPO game,
and I talked about the RPO game yesterday
when we talked about how Brian Dable is going to help Cam Ward.
That was a fun episode.
Carnell Tate, Cam losing weight, Brian Dable,
go check that out if you missed it.
But the RPO game.
And remember, RPO is different than read option.
Read option is handed off to the running back or the quarterback runs.
RPO is hand off to the running back or throw it out to the wide receiver.
Now, in college, some of them include
quarterback run is a third option.
So, yes, that exists.
But when you're talking about NFL concepts,
read option is quarterback running back exchange.
RPO is running back throw.
Okay?
So in those scenarios,
you're going to get a lot of people involved.
I think Carnal Tate can do stuff like that.
Obviously, D.K. will be good at stuff like that.
But Wondale Robinson is so shifty and so good in short areas
and when guys are all over them and in a phone booth,
being a jitterbug, like those sorts of,
things are going to make him very effective on those RPO's
when you just got to have the short yardage.
Not only that, but the under the option routes
where he could go inside, he could go outside,
he could go vertically, he could stop and pull up on a spot route,
all based on the leverage of the defender playing him,
him and him and Cam Ward are going to read that at the same time,
see it the same way, be on the same page, make those connections
on third and four, third and five, third and three,
and keep the chains moving.
like, again, it's not as exciting as Cornell Tate.
I think Calvin Ridley will make bigger plays,
more exciting plays down the field with the speed
and things like the Arizona plays and, you know, things like that.
Chim Dikey with his speed obviously has the chance to be a downfield threat
like we saw against New England last year.
Elyke-O Manor will make those big contested catches going over top of guys, physical,
things like that.
may be more exciting.
But Wondale Robinson moving the chains on a quick four-yard sit-down on third and three
that gets the Titans past midfield is their second first down of the drive
and then gets them into not the red zone area but the shot area, the 40-yard line.
Those sorts of plays are going to be on Heraldton.
They're going to be unsung.
They're going to be underappreciated.
But we should.
Wondale Robinson is going to make an underrated impact.
And I'll tell you this.
I think he has the chance to go vertically as well.
We saw last year in the Giants' offense,
Wondale Robinson had the highest yards per catch
that he had in his entire career last year.
Because he got used vertically more often.
And I think it was because
Jackson Dart had the ability to push the ball vertically.
And from what we've heard in that single OTA,
all of the reports or accounts of it
are the Titans are wanting to push the ball down the field.
Brian Daibble wants to be aggressive.
He wants to go vertically.
And that plays right into who Cam Ward was in college.
Cam Ward, he said, remember when he got drafted?
He said, we're not window shopping.
No, we're going downfield.
We're not just looking.
We're not just using it as this and that.
We're not just, oh, it would be nice to go downfield,
but I'm keeping it safe.
No, we're going downfield and being aggressive
and looking for big time plays.
That's what Brian Dable was preaching in this practice.
So I think Wondell Robinson has the ability to affect the game vertically as well.
But the primary impact that he will have will be in the short yardage chain moving situations.
But if he can do that, have a little bit of an impact every so often vertically to keep defense as honest.
And then just his presence in the room.
Good guy already on the same page with Cam.
I loved some of his quotes recently.
he spoke with Jim Wyatt of Tennessee Titans.com.
talked about Cam Ward, he said,
on the football field, it's the armed talent.
The ball jumps off his hand, wherever we are off the field.
He is just one of those other guys.
You want to play for a quarterback like that
that you can hang out with outside of football
and just be cool with.
And on the football field, it's all business.
So I love him to death.
That's Wondale Robinson, have a great presence about him.
You see him, he's a smiley guy,
he's having a good time, good energy in the building,
going to work hard, do the right things,
be about the right things.
But part of that quote is,
Cam Ward is just that dude, man.
People love Cam Ward.
He is going to attract players throughout his career.
He is going to elevate his teammates.
His relationship with Jeffrey Simmons already from day one
and like his ability to just not back down.
And again, be the quarterback who is the leader who elevates everybody,
but also just be one of the guys.
I love Cam Ward.
Love Cam Ward. His birthday was Monday.
So happy birthday, Cam Ward.
You're a dog.
His dog's birthday was on Sunday.
He called his son.
So shout out Cam Ward's dog.
We are Cam Ward friendly podcast here.
But Wondale Robinson isn't the only wide receiver, I think,
is going to have an underrated impact here.
KJ Osborne.
So when I did my roster prediction,
I kept Will Levis on the roster.
And by the way,
what's going on with his mom
going on the Ross Tucker podcast?
talking about those videos again.
Why bring that back up?
I don't know.
That's whatever.
Shout out Mrs. Levis,
but Beth seems like a nice lady,
but I don't understand that move.
Had Titans Twitter a buzz on Monday morning
to start the holiday.
I don't know, whatever.
But if the Titans do find a way to get rid of Will Levis,
if they just don't keep him,
if they trade him,
which is what I'm still banking on a trade,
I think KJ Osborne makes it.
And I had him as the seventh wide receiver
because Bryce Oliver would be the sixth wide receiver.
He's helpful on special teams,
decent player, still young,
exclusive rights free agent,
no reason not to keep him around.
But KJ Osborne had some really good years with Minnesota.
He's a veteran.
You can count on him.
He can play that slot role.
He could probably play a little bit of Z if you needed him to.
I think KJ Osborne is an underrated player
who can make an impact on this team
and make an impact during the season.
Like, he's obviously going to be an end of the roster wide receiver.
He might only have, you know, 10, 15 catches the whole year.
But I think he could really step in at some moments where there are injuries,
guys are just banged up, they need a break, different things.
I don't think KJ Osborne is no slouch is the point.
And it looked like, at least for some of the Titans videos and things like that,
he was making plays and catching passes from Cam Ward and down the field.
And KJ Osborne, they could make an impact.
And he's a guy who nobody is talking.
talking about. Nobody. I like KJ. Osborne. Always have. The two undrafted free agents,
Tyron Montgomery out of John Carroll and Hank Beattie out of Illinois. Hank Beattie out of Illinois
is like a Kyle Phillips type play. Is what I would say. But with Elykeyeom Manor, Chim Dike,
Calvin Ridley, with them missing OTAs, we don't know if they missed all week. Did they just miss
that session? But those guys stepped up. Tyrone Montgomery had some catches. Beattie
had quite a few catches. I thought it was Jim Wyatt's observations.
After that practice is that Hank Beattie popped up with a couple of different catches.
I mean, they're probably running third team.
It sounded like though Montgomery and Beattie got some from Levis,
which would be second team reps.
So maybe the undrafted guys moving up.
And again, it's crowded at wide receiver.
We'll see if one of those guys finds a way to break through.
And at minimum, Xavier Restrepo, Mason Kinsey,
Lance McCutcheon, like you got your days or number.
didn't hear anything about those guys.
So just some underrated guys there
and staying on the topic of underrated offensive players
coming out of that OTA,
there was a lot of buzz about Tage Spears.
Let's cap off today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, we talked about Femian Falk
solving the Titans future edge, or current edge problem
for the future.
We talked about some underrated wide receivers
on offense that are making an impact in OTAs right now.
But now I want to talk about the running back spot
because again, I think that the impact that
everybody other than Tony Pollard can have
is being underestimated right now.
Before we get into that, though,

But with that being said,
Taj Spears seem to be one of the,
quote-unquote, winners.
Coming out of maybe tomorrow,
I'll do a winners and losers of the first week of OTAs.
But Tajay Spears seem like one of the winners.
So I'll probably talk about this again tomorrow,
just to give him his,
love. But I'll talk about it from the other angle here.
But Spears is in a contract year, folks.
He's going to be a free agent after the season.
So it's now or never.
Now, I will tell you this.
Even if Taji Spears comes out and has a great year,
I think the Titans would be better suited to just let him go.
You know how it goes with guys.
Contract year, they stay healthy, they gut it out.
They play all the time.
They have their best year ever because they want to get their most money up, right?
it's a running back situation.
Spears isn't good enough, in my opinion, to re-sign him.
But he is good enough to make a pretty good impact this year.
Like, I'm not going to act like Tajay Spears is a bad player.
And when he's healthy and he's effective and he's producing,
he is electric.
He's one of the best tackle breakers or mistackle forces,
not breaking through a tackle through contact,
but just making a guy miss the difference between those two.
He is one of the best force tackle miss.
miss tackle forcers.
I'm struggling with that.
MTFs.
He's one of the best MTFs
in the entire NFL.
I reference it all the time, but he like
forced more mistackles
than Bijon Robinson per touch
last year.
He just is electric. He's hard to tackle.
So you get him the ball in space and
he can do things.
He can be very productive. And I think
if the Titans have
a good year,
they win seven games or more,
Taday Spears probably had a good season.
Because not only can he create such dynamic situations,
but it helps the quarterback tremendously.
You can just flip it off to him quickly.
So like his impact plays are also very easy plays for Cam Ward,
which is very helpful and very efficient.
So I think that Taj Spears being used more creatively in a more aggressive,
one of the problems
that the Titans' offense has had for years, in my opinion,
is people had no respect.
They were not worried that they were going to get beat deep
or beat with speed by the Titans.
We're not worried about your offense in general.
We're not worried about you having time
to drop back and throw it deep.
So we're going to play up.
We're going to play aggressive.
We're going to take away every...
And why is the Titans screen game bad?
Why did the run game be terrible for me?
most of the year. It's because teams were so aggressive coming forward. They just were not scared
of the offense at all. Well, if the Titans can flip that on its head and be ultra aggressive and
really start cutting these people when they try to play that way, it'll open up more of the easier
stuff, the run game, the quick screens, the dump balls to the running backs, the checkdowns,
because teams are more worried and they have to have more respect for the deep stuff, which
gives you more room to operate underneath. And that is a wonderland for Tage Spears.
give him a first four or five yards to warm up,
he is making the first guy miss.
There's no wet.
And I think you put Nick Singleton in this conversation.
Nick Singleton.
Now, he was working with like a trainer off to the side
or something like that, according to reports.
He's coming off a foot injury,
but he's going to be ready for training camp.
I think Brian Daible really likes to use a rotation.
He really likes a variety of runners.
I think Nick Singleton and Taday Spears are going to be way more involved in this offense
than maybe people think we're just looking at Tony Pollard and be like four straight
thousand-yard seasons him and Derek Henry only guys in the NFL to do that which is crazy right
it's crazy to think about that right it was Derek Henry the Titans had Eric Henry and now it's
Tony Pollard and it's Tony Pollard and Titans have Tony Pollard it's like so crazy that that's
a stat but it's real but either way I know that Tony Pollard you'd think that and be like
oh, it's Tony Pollard, he's the lead back.
And he is the lead back.
But I just think that it would be beneficial to Tony Pollard
and the Titans for Brian Dable to run a true three running back committee.
And I think that's what we're going to get,
even with Spears still being the lead.
And I think that value and that impact
is going a little underrated right now.
But it's early on, so everyone will catch up eventually.
With that being said, again, yeah, I think that's a good idea.
I think winners and losers of OTAs on tomorrow's show
unless some other news drops or something like that,
in which case, we'll talk about that.
But that's going to do it for me today, folks.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland,
and this was Locked on Titans.
