The Tennessee Titans have finally done it.
The Tennessee Titans win in overtime with a revenge game from Ryan Tannehill.
We're going to talk about it and break it all down on a postcast edition of the Locked On Titans podcast.
Let's get it.
You are Locked On Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast.

Welcome to a victory edition of a Locked On Titans postcast, ladies and gentlemen.
Eight straight losses we endured together.
Seven straight to finish last season.
The loss to open the year. But finally, the Tennessee Titans are back into Dubville. A big victory, 27-24
in overtime. Ryan Tannehill.
Ryan Tannehill. That is all you have to say.
We're going to get into everything that happened in this game. My instant reaction
and before we do though, thank you guys for making the Locked on Titans podcast
your first listen each and every day. Remember, Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content
all year long, always for free. It's your team every day here on the Locked on Titans
podcast. Make sure you get subscribed, stay subscribed, and throw a thumbs up on the video
right now. Throw a thumbs up on the video if you were hype about a Tennessee Titans victory. Man, it feels good.
It feels good.
We got to start.
We got to start with Ryan Tannehill.
There's no other place to start.
Revenge game.
Look, everybody was throwing dirt on Tannehill's grave.
I went over the tape.
I had my own thoughts.
I was involved in that as well, but we saw it.
All the local media.
Man, is this really the end of Ryan Tannehill? All the national media, oh, the Titans should start thinking about
benching Tannehill. We talked earlier this week, in the middle of the week, about the benching
Tannehill conversation, and as I said, the Titans should absolutely not bench Ryan Tannehill yet.
You've got to let him work through some of these things. We talked about the tape from last week.
It was a lot of missed reads that Tannehill had that caused the problems that he
had. Now there is some physical decline from a 35-year-old, but it's all things that you
thought could improve as he got more comfortable. And Ryan Tannehill got more comfortable
right away. 20 for 24.
246 yards. Had the
touchdown pass. Had the touchdown run.
I mean,
just a great performance.
While he got sacked five times.
I mean, what else can you say?
What a response by Ryan Tannehill.
He was hanging in the pocket.
He was delivering throws on crucial plays.
He made great passes.
He found the open man. I
mean, he didn't even have a play that was close to a turnover, in my opinion. Maybe one pass over
the middle that was pretty close where he forced it to Hopkins, but overall, what an incredible
response from Ryan Tannehill, and you have to remember, the revenge factor isn't just on the
haters here. Tannehill didn't just get revenge on everybody who was throwing dirt on his grave.
Where did Tannehill get hurt last year?
Against the Chargers.
So this had so many layers of redemption for Ryan Tannehill.
And to see him go out there and out-duel Justin Herbert at the end
and win the game for the Titans after they had lost eight straight games in a row
and after everybody was jumping off the ship.
This is an amazing performance by Tannehill.
He deserves all the credit.
There should be no Tannehill slander.
He was accurate.
He made big throws down the field.
Guys, those two explosive throws.
The completion to Burks.
I mean, let me know, scale of 1-10.
How hyped were you after the Traylon Burks completion?
I mean, the Titans looked like,
I mean, Mike Vrabel said after the game that the Titans were leaking oil.
It was 11-0.
The Chargers were starting to assert their dominance on the defense.
I mean, this is a good offensive team.
This Titans defense isn't the 85 Bears.
We hope it might be, you know, a good defense,
a really good defense.
This Titans defense still has its problems, all right?
We're going to talk about that more later on tonight
when I do my full 30-minute recap.
So this Titans defense wasn't going to be able
to hold down the Chargers under 20, okay?
They just weren't going to be able to do it.
And this offense, down 11-0, stepped up with a huge explosive play to Traylon Burks, 70 yards.
I mean, that is what Traylon Burks was drafted to be.
He is the deep threat.
He is the guy who makes plays down the field.
And then Tannehill, that throw to Chris Moore, what a catch by Chris Moore.
What a catch by Chris Moore on that 50-yard completion at the end. I mean, just huge throws by Tannehill.
Huge throws. He hit the short passes. We got that crossing route
to DeAndre Hopkins late in the game to set up the final touchdown.
The throw to Nick Westbrook-Akene on the touchdown. I mean,
incredible job by Ryan Tannehill.
Incredible job.
What a response.
What redemption.
What a revenge game for Tannehill.
Unbelievable stuff. But we're going to keep breaking down this win.
I'm going to do it.
This is my instant reaction.
My quick, you know, emotional thoughts really coming out of that.
We're going to talk a little bit about the defense.
I'm going to apologize to Nick Folk. I owe him a personal apology. So I'm going coming out of that. We're going to talk a little bit about the defense. I'm going to apologize to Nick Folk.
I owe him a personal apology.
So I'm going to do that here.
But again, want to remind you guys, later on tonight,
I am going to have a full 30-minute recap of this win.
I'm going to be talking what happened on offense and defense.
We're going to do tighten up and tighten down,
going over the good and the bad performances.
And spoiler alert, we're doing two segments of tighten up.
Because everybody, everybody deserves a tighten up from the Titans
after getting off an eight-game losing streak.
So we are going to dive into all that later tonight in my recap.
But I want to continue going over these reactions.
And like I said, apologize to Nick Folk for a second
for my slanderous words after the trade.

to the Tennessee Titans overtime win
over the Los Angeles Chargers 27-24.
And look, guys, I didn't do it the first segment.
All right, I didn't do it the first segment.
I just talked about Tannehill, how great it was,
how nice it is to have a win.
But I told you the Titans were winning this game.
I knew it.
I knew it.
This is a Mike Rabel special.
All right?
The entire world is against the Tennessee Titans.
Home underdogs to a team like the Chargers.
And what did the Chargers do?
The Chargers were Chargering.
Terrible penalties.
What were they doing on that drive in overtime? They were discombobulated.
Let the Titans come back down double digits.
No. No way. No way the Titans were losing this game. I refuse to give up on them that early.
I refuse to give up on them that early.
All right?
So, good stuff, Mike Vrabel.
Way to get the win, man.
Way to get the win.
Huge.
But we talked about Tannehill and the offense.
Give credit to the coaching staff.
But the Titans defense, look, it wasn't always pretty.
And as I was just saying,
maybe some thought that this Titans defense would be, you know, top five in the NFL,
top three in the NFL, best defense in the NFL.
We probably got to pump the brakes on that a little bit. The pass rush fell off late in the game. They made clutch plays and that's what matters. But the pass rush
for the Titans throughout most of the game wasn't really where you hoped
it would be based on our expectations. We knew that the
coverage unit, we knew that especially with Hooker out and with Fulton out, we knew
that they would probably struggle against that passing attack. There would be some advantages that were taken there.
And that all happened. That all happened.
Pretty at times. But clutch. Absolutely
clutch. Harold Landry getting that sack at the
end of the fourth quarter to force that field goal. What a time for
Harold Landry to step up. Harold Landry did not play well in week one.
Hadn't really seen anything from him throughout the game. And for him to step up
there on that third down in a critical moment. And I mean
ultimately it allowed the Titans, won the game for the Titans, right?
Early on, the Titans were getting better pressure.
I mean, Simmons makes the sack early.
Danico Autry gets the sack, but that sack by Harold Landry.
And then the Titans' defense to just three and out.
The Chargers in overtime.
You're done.
You're not even close. The Chargers didn't even get close in overtime
to looking like they were going to have a productive drive. Didn't even get close.
The defense stepped up in big moments.
And that's what the Titans need to see because there are good
offenses in the NFL. You can't expect the Titans defense every week
to hold teams to like 16 points.
It's just not when it's going to be every week.
We all knew coming out of last year
that a lot of times the defense did enough.
It's the offense that had to improve.
And for the Titans offense to improve
and then the Titans defense
when they look like they were struggling
and they were giving out
those clutch plays at the end.
Yeah, overtime.
Incomplete.
Deep. SMB knocking it away. Yeah, overtime. Incomplete, deep.
SMB knocking it away.
Second, incomplete, deep.
Incomplete, deep.
I mean, the Chargers fell apart in overtime.
Harold Landry getting that sack to get the Titans to overtime.
Absolutely clutch.
So it wasn't all pretty for the defense, no doubt, but absolutely clutch.
And then finally, finally,
here's what I want to say.
I was bad
with my reaction to the Nick Falk trade,
and I owe him an apology.
I was wrong.
I didn't think it was wise to give up a seventh round pick
to go get Nick Falk, and I was wrong I didn't think it was wise to give up a 7th round pick to go get Nick Folt
and I was wrong
because Nick Folt has been nothing
but absolutely clutch
he's made every single kick
it hasn't even been a worry
and it was crazy man
because if you're watching that game on TV
literally once the Titans
got the ball
and sort of field goal range
in overtime,
it just started pouring.
Pouring down rain.
Pouring.
And then right before the kick,
right before the kick,
the announcer says,
Nick Folk has never missed a kick under 40 yards.
It ended up being a 41-yard field goal, so I was a little confused.
But anytime you hear an announcer say something like that,
anytime you hear that they never missed,
it's a classic broadcaster jinx.
And with the rain coming down and Nick Folk being so good for so long,
well, you know, five kicks and then made all the extra points
and made a field goal early.
Like, he had made every kick.
So for the announcer to say that,
the rain to be pouring down,
as a scarred Titans fan,
I'm like, oh my God, here it comes.
And he drilled it.
He drilled it, no doubt.
So this is my public and official apology to Nick Folk.
It was a good trade.
Smart move by Rand Carthon.
He was worth it.
Absolutely.
He got the Titans that win.
That was a huge kick in the pouring rain.
41 yards out.
Just absolutely huge.
So, shout out to Nick Folk.
My apologies.
Officially submitted.
So, I'm just, I'm so hyped, man.
The Tennessee Titans won.
Got off the schneid.
That's going to do it for my instant reaction, though, guys.
That's going to do it for my first thoughts.
Just my emotional reaction to this Titans win. My, just my emotional, uh,
reaction to this Titans win.
Finally,
the drought is over.
The Titans went again in a huge one that they absolutely needed,
but,
uh,
I'm going to continue breaking down this win for the Titans.
I'm going to talk more about what I saw on offense and defense to start.
I'm going to get tightened up and tightened down.
Um,
so much coming on tonight's full 30 minute recap.
So make sure that you tune into that.
Get subscribed. Stay subscribed.
Throw a thumbs up on the video if you're watching right now as well.
Show's always free.
All I ask for in return is the press of a button.
But that is going to do it for me on this postcast.
