Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans MAXX CROSBY FALLOUT Could Lead to NEW CENTER & ELITE Special Teams Unit Forms
Episode Date: March 11, 2026The Tennessee Titans and the NFL world were shocked on Tuesday night when the Baltimore Ravens backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade and sent the edge rusher back to the Las Vegas Raiders. While this do...esn't mean the Titans will have a shot at Crosby or Tyler Linderbaum, there is a chance it could lead to a trade for Jackson Powers-Johnson, who has to change positions due to the Linderbaum signing. Also, the Titans made a few signings over the past 16 hours to bolster and complete the special teams unit with Tommy Townsend, Joey Slye and Bryce Oliver. This sets up the Titans to have an ELITE group in the special teams room. The Tennessee Titans could get help in multiple ways from all the Max Crosby chaos,
and I'll explain how on today's edition of Locked on Titans.
You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked on Podcast network,
your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans on today's show.
I'm going to explain two different ways that the Tennessee Titans did and could get help from the Max Crosby chaos with the Baltimore Ravens,
slimy Baltimore Ravens back and out of that trade.
Also, we'll talk about some of the recent Tennessee Titans signings that were made and how the Titans have set up an elite unit with their special teams group.
Before I dive in, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans, your first listen each and every day.
Remember, Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round,
Always for free. Make sure that you get subscribed. Stay subscribed. It's your team every day.
Speaking of every day. Shout out to my everydayers out there.
Tune in Monday through Friday. Couldn't do it without you guys.
If you aren't an everydayer, what are you doing?
Free agency ain't over yet and the Titans got more spots to fill.
I'm gonna tell you on tonight's episode what my remaining free agency wish list is.
Also, the draft is right around the corner.
There's a reason. This is the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world.
make sure that you stay locked in with the Locked on Titans podcast.
But with that being said, again, the Max Crosby News rocked the NFL late on Tuesday night.
The slimy Baltimore Ravens with just a despicable move to back out of the Max Crosby trade,
send him back to the Las Vegas Raiders, and then immediately signed Trey Hendrickson.
Absolutely ridiculous.
But there is a reality where...
the Tennessee Titans could get their new starting center
because of this Max Crosby Domino that fell
and I can confirm one way that the Tennessee Titans were helped
by the Baltimore Ravens being slime balls.
That's the reason that we call them the ratbirds around here.
But with that being said,
what's most important to the Titans is the potential
that they could get a new starting center.
Now, I got to tell you,
we have seen reports that would indicate this may be a tad far-fetched,
But the options are all on the table.
I point to a guy who plays for the Raiders in Jackson Powers Johnson.
One of my favorite interior offensive linemen from the 2024 draft.
He's only 23 years old, 6 foot 3, 3 125 pounds.
He played center for the Las Vegas Raiders last year, and he was good.
He is a really good young player.
But because they have signed Tyler Linderbaum,
now he's going to have to move back to guard.
And maybe with Tyler Linderbaum at $27 million a year
and Jackson Powers Johnson scheduled to get a contract extension
in two seasons,
the Raiders would be interested in getting some draft picks back
or a draft pick back for Jackson Powers Johnson.
Again, they thought that they were getting two first round picks
for Max Crosby.
Now, not only are they not getting extra draft capital to start their rebuild with Fernando Mendoza,
but they have already come out and said,
we're going to honor our contracts,
we're going to sign all the guys that we made deals with in free agency,
because we're not slime balls.
Well, if you have to add $30 million of salary for Max Crosby
back to your spending for the year,
and you're a Raiders franchise that may not have the most cash all the time.
Maybe what would be beneficial to you
is to trade Jackson Powers Johnson
a couple of years before he will require a big time extension.
And get a day two pickback.
If I'm the Tennessee Titans, I would pick up the phone.
I would call GM John Spy Tech
and I would say, hey, we'll give you pick number 66 for Jackson Powers
Johnson. Hey, we'll give you a fourth and a fifth. The Titans have two fourths and two
fifths. I'd give up a fourth and a fifth for Jackson Powers Johnson and he could be the long
term center for the Tennessee Titans for seven more years. That could be a potential way
that the Tennessee Titans could benefit. Now, it would be easy to push back and say, Tyler,
he doesn't get a contract extension for two years, a third round pick or a fourth and a
5th isn't anywhere near as good as 2 1st and you would be right.
I'm just saying I would at least make the call because he's a guy who
and he could be a guy who's better at center and doesn't want to play guard
and they could be looking at again Tyler Linderbaum for 27 million
is it wise to have all that draft capital sewn up with the big contract from Linderbom
and then the second round pick they use on JPJ is that the right way to build your team
Maybe that's what they want to do in front of Fernando Mendoza.
But again, as the Max Crosby Domino's fall,
that could be a small way that the Titans could benefit from it.
So pick up the phone, Mike Borganzi, see what they got to say.
Now, one way that I know the Tennessee Titans got help from the Max Crosby deal is
Trey Hendrickson didn't go to the Indianapolis Colts.
It has been reported that Hendrickson was going to go to the Indianapolis Colts
if not for the Baltimore Ravens
swooping in and giving him a deal.
So, yeah, maybe the Titans get a starting center,
but at minimum, at minimum,
the Tennessee Titans significantly helped
by the Ravens taking Trey Hendrickson
away from the Indianapolis Colts.
And for the Colts to lose out on Trey Hendrickson
while paying Alec Pierce $29 million a year
while just giving a $50 million contract,
to Daniel Jones,
how does Chris Ballard
continue to have his job?
I don't know.
Give him a lifetime contract
at this point.
But I'm looking at the Colts.
They lost Michael Pittman Jr.
They lost out on Trey Hendrickson.
They gave $100 million to
Alec Pierce and Daniel Jones.
They lost out on Braden Smith
at tackle.
They're starting to dismantle their good roster
to pay two guys
who are B-level players at best.
and I could not be more happy about that.
But with that being said,
forget a B, the Tennessee Titans have an A plus
special teams group
after some of the signings they've made
in the last 12 to 16 hours.
Do want to let you know that today's episode is brought to you
by 5-hour energy.
Welcome to the 5-hour energy flavor draft.
18 different flavors to choose from
including new options like confetti craze,
fruity rainbow, cotton candy, there's something for everyone.
The board is set, the flavors are ready, and I've got my number one pick for the five-hour energy flavor draft.
And you guys know, I am going with that incredible grape flavor.
It's that Concord grape flavor that's similar to grape juice or candy.
It's got a nice soft, rounded sweetness that's almost syrup-like, it's smooth, it's consistent, straightforward taste.
that classic purple candy style finish that I absolutely love.
Now, if I had to go with a sleeper,
I would be going with the peach mango flavor.
It hits on that first sip.
It's got that mango tropical depth and sweetness,
the smooth, rounded fruit profile,
and it's a slightly richer mouth feel
than some of the other citrus flavors,
which I really like.
It's got a nice, sweet, aromatic finish
and that balanced tropical blend that you crave.
find your new favorite flavor of five-hour energy shots available now
at five-hourenergy.com or on Amazon.
Also, today's episode is brought to you by FanDuel Sportsbook.
College basketball is non-stop.
You got big games, tight spreads, momentum swings every single night
from early tip-offs to late-night West Coast shootouts.
There's always action on the board.
And now Fando is giving you a way to turn that energy into an even bigger potential
win with a college basketball parlay profit boost.
You can build any college hoops parlay you want rivalry games, ranked matchups,
whatever fits your read.
You can mix spreads, totals, player props to match how you see the slate playing out
and you can apply the profit boost and instantly boost up your potential payout.
Go safe, go bold, ride with the team that you've been following all season.
It's your parley, your style, and now with more upside behind it.

And let's continue today's bonus edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, we talked about how the fallout from the Max Crosby trade
could help the Tennessee Titans.
It absolutely helped them with Trey Hendrickson,
not going to the Colts,
but it could help them if the Titans are able to make a trade
for Jackson Powers Johnson.
I doubt it, but, hey, would be a good move.
Now, we got to talk about some of these signings
the Titans have made in the last,
12 to 16 hours depending on when you're listening to this.
Number one, Tommy Townsend, the punter.
Listen, I put out the short video,
but I called it again.
Just another tick-tack W of me getting the free agency moves correct.
All right, look, I'm not going to get them all right.
Kingsley and I'm A.
Devin Lloyd, but there were some misses in there,
but I'm up to six or seven hits in my free agency prediction out of 14.
At this point, feel like we're hitting at a pretty good clip.
right now.
But Tommy Townsend,
one of the best punters
in the entire NFL.
I compared his stats
to Johnny Hecker's.
His inside the 20 rate,
Hecker was at 29%.
Townsend was at 41%.
Their net yards
per punt.
Townsend was above league average
at 41.6.
Johnny Hecker was at like
40.7, 40.8,
something like that below.
League average.
Talk about touchback.
That percent, Tommy Townsend was at 6 percent.
Johnny Hecker was at 9 percent.
That's a massive difference in the punting world.
You are getting a pro-ball, all-pro-level punter.
And not only are you getting one of the best punters in the NFL,
you're getting a guy who's 29 years old who can conceivably be your punter for five to six more years.
And you're also stealing him away from the Houston Texans.
What an elite signing by the Tennessee Titans to go get Tommy Townsend.
And let me ask you this.
Who else out there making Titans content is getting you ready to go for punter signings?
All right?
I'm just saying that's why you come to Locked on Titans.
But it wasn't only that.
The Tennessee Titans brought back Joey Sly as well.
And I know that some people are not as happy about that.
But Joey Sly is a good kick.
Is he Brandon Aubrey?
No, he isn't.
But who is? Brandon Albury is like the best kicker of all time.
The reality is Joey Sly is a weapon for the Tennessee Titans.
He missed seven kicks last year and five of those seven misses were plus 50 yards.
And do you remember at least three of those
were Brian Callahan being a bozo and not knowing what to do?
Do we kick? Do we go?
It's the end of the first half.
What are we doing?
Oh, hurry, hurry, send the kicker out there and try to kick a 64 yarder.
I can think of three examples in my head right now
where Brian Callahan sent him out there
to kick a 63 or 64 yard field goal at the end of the first half.
And he missed?
Like, I'm not holding that against Joey Sly.
He can hit from pretty much anywhere on the field,
give him a regular opportunity to set up and kick and he's fine.
His other two misses on the year were 40 to 49 under 40 yards.
He didn't miss a single kick.
I think he missed one extra point on.
the year. Like, is Joey Sly the best kicker in the NFL? No, but he's one of the better
kickers in the NFL. So you have Joey Sly in year two with the Titans. You have Tommy
Townsend, one of the best punters in the entire NFL. You have Jim D.K. an all pro-level
returner. And not only that, but the Titans brought back Bryce Oliver,
who is one of the better special teams gunners that the Titans have had for the last few years.
And he adds depth at the wide receiver room.
Bryce Oliver dealt with injuries last year.
But he's an exclusive rights free agent,
which means the Titans are going to put a one-year deal
worth $1.3 million on him and bring him back as a depth piece.
And if he's able to stay healthy, he's a nice wide receiver 6.
And he's a good gunner on punt coverage and on kickoff coverage.
So you're getting one of your better special teams players
adding depth at wide receiver for a million bucks.
that's pretty good.
Can't really beat that.
So with a great punter, a good kicker, an elite returner,
a good special teams coverage guy,
add that to James Williams,
who was excellent on special teams last year,
and the Tennessee Titans are looking at a truly elite
top five special teams unit in the NFL,
which after the last couple of years of Mike Vrable
with Craig Ackerman
and the first year of Brian Callahan,
with Col Anderson, I mean, we're eating good, Titans fans.
How could you possibly be mad about that?
Now, they also signed Jordan Elliott.
Now, that's not a special teams related signing per se,
but I wanted to touch on it for a moment.
Jordan Elliott is an interior defensive lineman
who played with the San Francisco 49ers last year.
He is a one-gap penetrator.
He's, you know, 6-foot-3, 300 pounds,
can shoot the gaps, can stop against the run.
your Tevondre sweat replacement?
Now, I see a lot of people out there saying,
oh, guess they're not bringing SJD back,
but SJD is like a John Franklin Myers,
not a Tevandre sweat.
So maybe they don't bring Sebastian Joseph Day back.
I'm not guaranteeing that they are.
I'm just saying, seeing Jordan Elliott get signed
to a two-year, $3 million deal
does not mean that the Titans aren't going to bring back
Sebastian Joseph Day.
It would be like the Titans bringing back Ali Udo
and then everybody's saying,
oh, I guess they're done at guard.
Ali Udo doesn't play guard.
So why would Oli Udo?
Like, Sebastian Joseph Day is more of a bigger body defensive end
that can rush from the interior like John Franklin Myers
more than a guy like Jordan Elliott who is a defensive tackle
that can also play a little bit of nose tackle and stuff the run.
Like they're not the same kind of player.
So again, I'm not guaranteeing.
that Sebastian Joseph Day is back in Tennessee,
but Jordan Elliott's signing
doesn't mean, oh, they're not bringing back
SJD anymore.
Like, that's not a logical conclusion to make, in my opinion.
But with that being said,
tonight, I am going to do my current free agency wish list.
Who do I want the Titans to grab?
Not just who the options are,
but who do I want the Titans to grab
at the remaining positions
that they need to fill like safety, center, guard,
linebacker, edge, running back, offensive tackle, all of that.
All I can tell you is this.
It's time to bring Kevin Byard home.
But with that being said, that's going to do it for me today, folks.
Well, at least, until tonight.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland.
And this was Locked on Titans.
