Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans Mike Brogonzi's TRADE DEADLINE DUD, 2026 Draft Pick Recap & Jets Trades Help Titans
Episode Date: November 4, 2025The Tennessee Titans made no moves on trade deadline day leaving Titans fans frustrated, but even though the Titans didn't make any exciting trades, they made two "deadline deals" when they traded Dre...'Mont Jones and Roger McCreary. The Jones trade specifically was excellent and now that we know the final conditions, it looks even better. A lot of players who weren't traded remain as well like Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard and Chig Okonkwo and it should be no shock that they are players who are part of helping Cam Ward. Finally, the New York Jets made a few big-time moves and even though the Titans weren't involved, the Jets activity is great news for them as the Jets are one of the most likely teams to move up for a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. Even though the Tennessee Titans didn't make any moves on trade deadline day,
I still think the trade deadline was a massive success for the Titans.
And I'll explain why on today's edition of Locked on Titans.

We are doing a trade deadline emergency reaction episode here.
The deadline has passed.
The Tennessee Titans made no moves on trade deadline day,
may make folks feel like it was a little bit of a dud,
but I am here to tell you the trade deadline overall as a process
was a massive success for the Titans,
not only because of the deals that they made,
but because of the other deals that happened that set them up as well.
Before we dive into all of it,
I do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans,
your first listen each and every day.

It's your team.
here at the Locked on Titans podcast speaking of every day shout out to my
everydayers out there tuning in Monday through Friday couldn't do it without you
guys if you aren't an everydayer now is the perfect time to be one but with that
being said again the trade deadline day as a day Tuesday trade deadline
absolute dud for the Tennessee Titans no action whatsoever we got no moves from
the Titans in a vacuum just the Tennessee Titans activity absolutely a dud
that there were no moves that got made.
But I am here to remind you that just because the Tennessee Titans didn't make any moves
on trade deadline day does not mean that the trade deadline was a failure.
It was a success for the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans didn't make any moves on Tuesday on the deadline day,
but Roger McCreary, which got done last week, was absolutely a trade deadline trade.
Dremont Jones which got done on Monday instead of Tuesday
was absolutely a trade deadline trade
So a lot of people are saying
The Tennessee Titans didn't make any moves today
It was a failure but the Titans made two trade deadline trades
And I mean
How many big time trades or how many trades period
Did you think that they were gonna make four or five
I thought two or three made a ton of sense
That is what the Titans were looking at us
Two or three trades during the deadest
Like it's this isn't Madden where you put a player in and you press triangle and it says get offers and you just pick the best offer
That's available to you. That's not how this works
So it's not like the Tennessee Titans could do a million trades and get all these different things back if other teams weren't willing to do that
So to me, although the Titans didn't make a move on Tuesday on trade deadline day
The move of Roger McCreery was a good move the trade of Dremont Jones was famous
And as a matter of fact, we know the conditions out.
Of course, I told you guys yesterday, I'm probably going to record this and within an hour,
there will be news that makes the content irrelevant.
And that's exactly what happened.
Draymont Jones got traded literally 30 minutes, an hour after I got done recording yesterday's episode.
So of course, that's my luck.
But now that we know the conditions of the Draymont Jones trade,
that was an excellent trade for the Tennessee Titans.
You get a conditional fifth round pick that's going to be the New York Jets fifth round pick,
which is going to be in the top three or top five of the round, no matter what.
So you're getting a top five pick in the fifth round at minimum.
And if Draymont Jones, these are the conditions, if Draymont Jones
gets two sacks in the rest of the season, there's nine weeks left of the year,
Two sacks in nine weeks, and the Ravens make the playoffs,
which they may be three and five,
but they are currently the favorites to win that division.
Because the Steelers can't be trusted, and the Ravens have an easy schedule.
And even if they don't win their division,
the Ravens have a great chance to come back and make the wild card.
So all that has to happen is Draymont Jones to get two sacks,
and the Ravens make the playoffs,
and now you get a fourth round pick out of that.
Out of a guy that you signed to a one-year deal
who is a rental,
that's great value.
I mean, that is fantastic value for the Tennessee Titans.
So, yeah, they didn't make any moves today,
but you look at the moves that they did make
with Draymont Jones, the conditional fifth,
and then Roger McCreary and a sixth round pick
for a fifth round pick.
Like, if you look at those moves,
those are good moves for the Tennessee Titans.
and now
they're set up with a ton of draft picks
going into the end of the year
like they did get extra capital
improve their draft status as well
I mean
at this point the Titans have their first round pick
they have their second round pick of course
they have a third round pick
they have a great chance now to have two fourth round picks
they got back their fifth round pick
from the Rams, they're going to get the Jets
5th round pick from the Ravens if it doesn't move up to become a 4th round pick
they have a 6th round pick, they have another 6th round pick
and they have a 7th round pick
So the Tennessee Titans have what
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 9 picks right now
That's a good job
They did a good job
So I guess like I know that a lot of people are going to be pissed
They should have traded more.
They should have done more.
They should have got this guy and traded this guy.
But the thing is, how do you know that that was available?
How do you know that there were even offers for that guy?
And I have to tell you,
looking at what the Tennessee Titans did and who they didn't trade,
ultimately they make two trades and listen.
You can add the Jarvis Brownlee Jr. trade into this,
but I wouldn't really call that a deadline trade.
That wasn't for the trade deadline.
is we want to get rid of Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
You know what I mean?
It wasn't quite what they're doing with these two trades.
But you look at the players they did trade
and the players they didn't trade
and there were three guys traded on the defensive side of the ball.
And nobody traded on the offensive side of the ball.
And I think some of that has to do with
you don't want to absolutely destroy Cam Ward
and down the back half of the season
you would like to see Cam Ward play well
and the offense is already so bad
that if you make it even worse
things could really get off the rails
but also at the same time
the Tennessee Titans offense is a disaster
and we can't be shocked
that nobody wanted people
on the offensive side of the ball
from the Titans
so
you know
I'm just looking at
you get a pick swap
with the Jets
you get the pick swap
with the Rams
you get the fourth round
fifth round conditional from the
Ravens the Titans have improved or just got a draft pick back in all of these
circumstances and that's what they needed to do so you can be mad that there wasn't
more trades but you can't force people to take your garbage like that that's literally
dapper just said in the chat what we gonna do force people to take our garbage yeah
guys you have to realize that the Titans would probably like to have made more
trades. But that doesn't mean that trades were available. So they trade Dremont Jones and get a
great return. Roger McCreary wasn't going to be back. And if you say, well, they should have
re-signed Roger McCreary so I don't like the trade. But if you didn't want to resign
Roger McCreary back or weren't gung-ho on it, then how could you be upset with what
happened? Again, just because trade deadline day was a dud, doesn't mean that the Titans didn't
do anything during the trade deadline period. They absolutely did. And as
As a matter of fact, I'd give them like a BB plus for what they did.
And it's not just what they did, the other things that happened
that had nothing to do with the Titans on trade deadline day
help the Titans as well.
So we got to talk about all of that.

Let's continue today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast
going live here to break down everything that happened
and didn't happen at the trade deadline.
Again, the Tennessee Titans made two trade deadline trades
for everybody out there crying, acting like they didn't do anything.
Just because they did their deals earlier than other teams
doesn't mean that they didn't do any deals.
You know what I mean?
But they trade Roger McCreery
and a sixth round pick for a fifth rounder
to get the Jets pick
and then they trade
Dremont Jones for a conditional fifth round pick
from the Ravens
that could be a fourth round pick
and we know that he needs two sacks
and the Ravens have to make the playoffs
and it becomes a fourth good chance of that happening
but again a lot of what the conversation is
coming out of the trade deadline
is the moves that the Titans didn't make
And I thought it was interesting that right after the trade deadline passed,
Jordan Schultz tweeted out that the Tennessee Titans want to keep to Vondre Sweat.
They didn't want to get rid of him.
They didn't want to take, you know, a draft pick back.
I want to make sure I find the exact tweet here and give it to you guys what the language of it was.
It was they view him as a young ascending cornerstone,
a key part of the future plans and have made it clear they're not.
looking to move him. Well, then why were they taking so many phone calls on him?
That's what I would say. But either way, that kind of, we talked about what it would mean
if the Tennessee Titans did trade Tevonre Sweat and what it would say about how the Titans
felt about him. Them putting out this statement through Jordan Shultz not trading Tevonre Sweat.
I think that is a positive sign in the other direction.
The Titans do believe that a new coaching staff can get the best out of Tev Andre Sweat and
they believe that he can be a building block going forward.
it was always going to go one way or another, either the Titans,
believe in him or they don't.
Now, he could still get traded this offseason
when they have more time to take deals and everything like that,
but I think this is a sign.
The Titans got offers for Tavondre Sweat,
and they could have taken one, and they didn't.
So, make sense with Tavondre Sweat.
This isn't like some of the other names
that we're going to talk about where you're just trying to ditch a guy
and get a draft pick back because you're not going to have him on the team next year.
That's not what the Tavondre Sweat situation was.
So if they were going to get rid of Tavandre Sweat,
it was going to be because they didn't want him around in the locker room.
So I think this is a good thing.
I didn't want Tavondre Sweat to be traded.
Kind of crazy that I said that like 20 times in the episode yesterday
and still had people in the comments asking why I wanted Tavondre Sweat traded,
telling me that I'm an idiot for wanting him traded,
even though I said explicitly multiple times I didn't want him traded.
And I'm glad the Titans didn't make this move out of desperation or panic
or any other reason that it would not been a smart move to trade.
to Vandre sweat right now.
So I'm glad the Titans didn't do that.
But some of the names that people did want to see traded, Arden Key,
Jihad Ward.
Listen, the Titans got Jihad Ward off the scrap heap before the season.
I am not shocked that nobody wanted to give up a draft pick for Jihad Ward.
Let's be honest, if the Titans would have gotten anything for Jihad Ward,
it would have been a seventh round pick at best.
So I'm not shocked that nobody was dialing up the phone
to get a hold of Jihad Ward.
I would rather have Joe Tryon Shorenka,
you know, who the Bears went out and got.
Arden Key was a guy who I thought could be dealt.
But you have to remember,
Arden Key hasn't played in a while.
He's banged up.
And Arden Key has been awful this year.
He's been terrible.
So again, what are you expecting back in return?
Do you think you're going to get a sixth round pick for Arden Key?
I don't think so.
I can't guarantee that.
And if you're getting a seventh round pick for Arden Key
or nothing for Arden Key.
Like Arden Key has been involved in rumors
but I bet a lot of this is,
hey, we'll give you a conditional
seventh round pick.
And teams probably didn't want to give up anything
with the injury concerns.
So you can't look at Arden Key.
I'm sorry, but you can't look at Arden Key
and be like,
the Titans definitely could have traded him.
I can't believe they didn't take an offer.
We don't know for certain
that there was ever any good offers for Arden Key.
Any even, any offers at all.
And you've traded away Dremont Jones.
You don't have very much edge depth anyway.
Femiola Dejo's on IR, you still have to field a football team.
So if you're not, if you're giving me a conditional seventh round pick in 2027 or something,
why am I doing that?
What difference is that going to make?
See, those are the trades where I'm like, why are you doing that?
And Jahad Wardy likely got nothing for it.
And then you move to the offensive side of the ball.
Again, Calvin Ridley has missed multiple games in a row.
What kind of deal do you think you're getting for Calvin Ridley?
And Jacoby Myers goes for a fourth and a six.
And Rashid Shahid goes for a fourth and a fifth.
The Titans weren't getting that out of Calvin Ridley.
That's for sure.
So those guys go to teams that are hungry for wide receiver.
Now you don't have a market.
And at the end of the day, like I said earlier,
the episode, you have to walk the fine line of, yeah, you need to get as much back as you
possibly can. You absolutely need to get as much back as you possibly can.
But you also got to make sure that you don't kill Cam Ward.
So, I mean, if you're only getting offered a 6th or a 7th for Calvin Ridley,
why do that?
I don't think anybody offered anything for Chigaconquo.
Why would anybody offer for Chigacanquo?
When you see tight ends around the league, I said this on the squad show on Tuesday morning.
You see all kinds of tight ends, no name tight ends who nobody even has a clue about.
Make big plays every week.
Tight end is one of those positions where you don't have to put a ton of assets into it to make a good tight end room.
And Chigacu can't block to save his life.
And when you look around the NFL, the big thing on offense schematically that's happening,
this year is teams are using extra offensive linemen.
The Titans are doing it with Corey Levin all the time.
Teams are using a sixth offensive lineman to come in in their heavy sets
because blocking at the tight end position is so terrible.
So why would a team trade for Chigacanquo
when he can't block whatsoever?
Realistically, there's probably not a lot of good offers out there.
If any offers at all.
And then you look at Tony Pollard.
And let's just be honest.
Tony Pollard is out of juice.
I'm not saying he's bad.
I'm not saying he can't hit an open hole and run for 10 yards.
But Ridley does not have juice.
Look at when Tadier Spears gets the ball.
It's just so clear that Tony Pollard is not moving at that kind of pace.
The Titans ran Tony Pollard into the ground last year.
I told you guys all off season long.
that Tony Pollard was going to take a big step back.
This would be the last year that Tony Pollard would be on the Titans.
They're not going to have them on the third year of his contract.
Tadjay Spears, while exciting and explosive, unreliable,
and then he gets hurt and misses the first four games of the year.
The Titans need two running backs.
Running back is a big need for the Titans going into this all season.
It is.
They need more juice at running back than what they have with Tony Pollard.
And Tajay Spears is inconsistent.
So why would somebody go out and pay a bunch for Tony Pollard?
We talk about how running back is a position where you don't need to spend a lot of capital.
Well then why would a team give up a mid-round pick for Tony Pollard?
And if you've had your ear to the ground,
one of the teams that was most interesting getting a running back was the New England Patriots.
And there's some reporting out of New England that the Titans just didn't want to deal with the Patriots
because Amy Adam Strunk doesn't want to give players to Mike Grable.
Now, I don't know if I believe that,
and that sounds like sour grapes for the Patriots
because they didn't get the deal that they wanted.
But at the end of the day,
that could be a factor.
That could be a factor.
So, I think it's no coincidence at all
that the two players that got dealt by the Titans
are on the defensive side of the ball,
and the offense that has been so terrible
didn't have a lot of interest.
So, again, my overall point,
here is, I am not angry that the Titans didn't trade more guys because it takes two to tango
with a trade. You can't make somebody take one of your bum players and give you one of their
picks. The moves that the Titans did make the Roger McCreary trade, the Draymont Jones
trade specifically, I think those were smart good moves. So I'm giving the Titans trade deadline
effort like a B-B-plus. It wasn't bad. I don't understand how people are so angry.
Like, the team is bad. They're 1-8. You're mad about that.
you're not mad that the Titans didn't do enough at the trade deadline.
You're mad that the team sucks.
And you're letting that cloud your judgment
and analyzing how the Titans did at the trade deadline.
But let me tell you this.
The trade deadline day was great for the Titans
outside of the Titans' moves or lack of moves themselves
because what happened in the rest of the NFL
was great news for what the Titans can do this all season.

Let's cap off today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast
We talked about the trade deadline
There weren't any moves on Tuesday
But the Titans made two trade deadline moves
and I like both of them quite a bit.
We talked about who wasn't traded and why,
but now I want to talk about how the rest of the NFL's moves
actually really helped the Tennessee Titans,
most specifically, the New York Jets.
Before we dive into it, do want to thank you for making Locked-on Titans
your first listen each and every day.

Stay subscribed.
Stay locked in with the Locked-on Titans podcast.
But again, the New York Jets did the Titans a massive favor.
like in multiple ways
the New York Jets
helped the Tennessee Titans
with this trade deadline
so number one
the most obvious thing that happened
is the New York Jets
loaded up on number one picks
the Jets traded
sauce Gardner
to the Indianapolis
Colts for two first round picks
and Adonai Mitchell
I cannot believe
that the Indianapolis Colts
paid that much for Sauce
Gardner but nonetheless they did and that means that the Colts give up two first
round picks meaning the Jets have their first round pick this year and the Colts
and then next year they have their first round pick and the Colts and then the Jets
followed it up with trading Quinn and Williams the defensive lineman to the Dallas
Cowboys where they got a second round pick in this year's draft and a first round pick in
next year's draft. So that means that the Jets have two firsts and two seconds this year and have
three firsts next year. Well, let me connect the dots for you if you haven't already put it
together. The New York Jets are going to need a quarterback this offseason. The Jets would
probably be pretty interested in moving up to get a quarterback if they don't have
the number one pick.
So, the odds are high right now
that if the Tennessee Titans can get the number one overall pick,
they are going to get multiple first round picks for that pick.
Because the Jets have five first round picks over the next two years.
The Cleveland Browns have two first round picks in this year's draft.
both teams who will be looking for a quarterback.
So there's a infinitely higher chance
that the Titans end up with some of these first-round picks
that the Jets just got than anything else.
Like it would just make all the sense in the world
for the Titans to get the number one pick in the draft
and then whether it be the Jets, the Browns,
the Rams could maybe make their move for a quarterback of the future,
two first-round picks, that would make a ton of sense.
And that isn't even mentioning other teams like the Saints
that could be interested in a quarterback as well.
Like, there are going to be teams that need quarterback
and they're going to be two or three quarterbacks worth having in this draft.
Miami, yep, Caribbean Daniel.
Great point. Miami will be looking for a quarterback as well.
So, and hey, if the Arizona Cardinals want to trade Kyler Murray,
they could be in the market for a quarterback.
I'm just saying that having a team
that desperately needs a quarterback
having five first round picks
that's great news for the Titans.
That is great news for the Titans.
Now, not only that,
but the Quinn and Williams deal
trading Quinn and Williams,
who was a pro bowler in 2020.
who is about 28 years old, who is a really good interior defensive lineman.
Who does that sound like?
Former Pro Bowl all pro player.
Still in his late 20s.
One of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL.
That sounds like Jeffrey Simmons.
And Quinn and Williams got traded for a 2027 first round pick
in a 2026 second.
I don't want the Tennessee Titans to trade Jeffrey Simmons
but in my opinion
this deal for Quinn and Williams
sets the precedent
for a Jeffrey Simmons trade
if the Titans are going to trade
Jeffrey Simmons in the offseason
a future first round pick
and a second round pick
is the bare minimum
the bare minimum
period
And I think Jeffrey Simmons is better than Quinn and Williams
So in my opinion, I would want two first round picks for Jeffrey Simmons
Now the odds of getting two first round picks for Jeff
I don't think are very high either
So I think a first round pick
A second round pick and a fourth round pick
That would bridge the gap for me
I would take that deal
I would take a first a second and a fourth
That seems fair
Now, again, I don't want the Titans to trade Jeffrey Simmons.
That's not what I'm saying.
But if the Titans do trade Jeffrey Simmons,
which is not off the table at all,
if they do trade Jeffrey Simmons this offseason,
this deal right here that the Jets just made
will be the baseline.
You cannot pay us less than what the Jets got for Quinn and Williams
for Jeffrey Simmons because Jeffrey Simmons is a better play.
Period. Period. It's that simple.
So, while the Titans maybe didn't make a move on trade deadline day,
again, they made two trades, both of which I think are good,
the Draymont Jones trade I think's great.
The players that they didn't get rid of,
we can't guarantee that they had an offer
and they just so happen to be on offense so they can still help Cam Ward.
And then all of the other trades outside of the Titans that took place,
especially with the Jets,
actually helped the Tennessee Titans.
So, I don't know.
I know that the team is bad right now.
I know that being angry is the default setting for human beings in 2025.
But I'm sorry, I'm leaving out of the trade deadline thinking it's pretty good for the Titans.
It's a B plus.
If you take into account the other teams that traded that helped the Titans,
it is a B plus for me.
A B plus trade deadline.
I'm just not angry about it.
I think the Titans did a pretty good job with what they could do.
but we're going to hear from Mike Borganzi on Wednesday morning
get his thoughts on a lot of the moves that the Titans made and didn't make
can't wait to hear that we'll talk about that and then of course we have a crossover
we don't have a crossover episode it's the bye week holy crap
so we'll talk about Mike Borganzi's press conference on tomorrow show
and go over what he had to say but with that being said
that is going to do it for me today folks as always
I am your host Tyler Rowan and this was Locked on Titans
Thank you.
