Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - TENNESSEE TITANS MOCK FREE AGENCY: Bring in Derek Carr, Splash Move for Trey Smith & Adding Value

Episode Date: February 4, 2025

OFFSEASON ROAD MAP WEEK DAY 3: The Tennessee Titans will need to be active, but measured in free agency this year. They have holes to fill, but should not commit long-term money to just anyone. Trey S...mith, Kansas City Chiefs guard, is not just anyone. The Titans need to bring the pro bowl guard back home to Tennessee. At quarterback, the Titans need to grab Derek Carr for the short-term winning need, but also add a young backup to develop. Finally, there are plenty of other value options that Titans need at positions like wide receiver, edge and linebacker. Tyler looks to fill them all in today's mock free agency. Subscribe to the TicTacTitans Film Channel:https://www.youtube.com/@TicTacTitans TicTacTitans Merchandise: https://dixons-dream.square.site/shop/tictactitans-gear/C3AAPNWXSXA6SBYG3USV2I7R?page=1&limit=30&sort_by=category_order&sort_order=asc Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitans Follow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPod Subscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnTitans/videos Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! BetterhelpDiscover your relationship “green flags” with BetterHelp. Starting point is 00:00:00 The Tennessee Titans should bring in Derek Kaur as QV1 in 2025. I'll tell you why, plus tell you every other signing I think the Titans should make in today's Mock Free Agency edition of Locked on Titans. You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day. Welcome to the Locked On Titans podcast. Use the code locked on NFL all lower case to win $50 instantly when you play $5 it is day three of off season roadmap week on day one. We talked about the off season schedule and went through all of the Tennessee Titans in-house free agents to decide who should be brought back and who they should let go. Yesterday, we talked about trades, we talked about cuts, we talked about salary cap management and determined that the Tennessee Titans would have $40 million of cap space going into free agency
Starting point is 00:01:20 based on the re-signings that we made. Well, today it is time to do a full mock free agency. I have seven signings for you guys, maybe even eight signings for you guys. We got Derek Carr quarterback. We got a splash move on the offensive line that I think everyone will love. And we're going to have some cheap value veterans at the end of the show as well. Before we dive into my mock free agency, do want to thank you for making the locked on Titans podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:49 You are first listen each and every day. Remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round, always for free, make sure you get subscribed, stay subscribed. It's your team every day. Speaking of every day, shout out to my every dayers out there tuning in Monday through Friday. If you aren't an everyday or you need to be one because tomorrow mock draft seven rounds completing our mock off season here on off season roadmap week. And then the last show of the week will be a
Starting point is 00:02:18 recap of everything that happened and what I think would be an ideal off season for the Tennessee Titans. But with that being said, Derek Carr, that is my QB1 for 2025. Now, I know the immediate thing that an informed NFL fan would say is, well, Derek Carr isn't a free agent. He's still currently on the New Orleans Saints. Well, let me throw some numbers at you as to why I believe Derek Carr will be released. The New Orleans Saints. Well, let me throw some numbers at you as to why I believe Derek Carr will be released. The New Orleans Saints are $51 million over the salary cap right now. Derek Carr has a $51 million cap hit. Well, if
Starting point is 00:03:01 the Saints release Derek Carr with a post-June 1st designation, he will save them $20 or $30 million on the salary cap. So the saints would immediately save $30 million on their negative $51 million cap bill by releasing Derek Carr as a post-June 1 designation. That's exactly what I think they do. You could say, well, why would the Saints do that? Why wouldn't they trade Derek Carr? Well, if you trade Derek Carr before June 1st, you don't save as much money. You would incur a ton more dead cap and you don't save as much money. So it would behoove the Saints to release Derek Carr as a post June 1st designation unless they intend to keep him entirely which they could do, but I don't think that they will.
Starting point is 00:03:50 The problem is Derek Carr is a no trade clause. So if they wanted to trade Derek Carr, he could do like he did to the Raiders and say no, I don't want to trade. You're not gonna pick where I go. I'm gonna pick where I go. You have to release me. It's the same thing he did to the Raiders and he should do it here to the Saints. And I think they should oblige because it saves them $30 million in cap space as well. And then the Tennessee Titans signed Derrick Carr. And you may ask why Derrick Carr? I don't think Derrick Carr is very good.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Look, I don't think that Derrick Carr is some elite quarterback either. Derrick Carr is a mid quarterback in the NFL. He is an average starter in the NFL. If you rank Derek Carr amongst NFL quarterbacks, he's probably 16 to 22, maybe 14 to 22 on a good day. Derek Carr is an average starting quarterback. And quite frankly, that is what the Tennessee Titans need right now. I don't want the Tennessee Titans to take a quarterback number one in the NFL draft with the roster in its current state. I want a veteran quarterback who could come in.
Starting point is 00:04:55 You're going to be able to see who's playing well, wide receiver, who's playing well on the offensive line. You're going to have general good average starting quarterback play. And quite frankly, Brian Callahan needs that to prove that he should keep his job. Plus Brian Callahan and Derek Carr work together and Derek Carr's best seasons for the Raiders. So there's a connection there and Derek Carr fits the type of quarterback that Brian Callahan wants in his system who can read the field, who can read the
Starting point is 00:05:22 defense, precision timing, be accurate. I am not a big Derek Carr fan. I've called him Derek Carbage for most of my life. I don't think that Derek Carr is some great player, but he's going to be able to be as good as the roster around him. And he's going to be able to be a stop gap option for the Titans. And if the Titans do decide, Abdul Carter gets caught, you know, beaten up his girlfriend or something like that, you know, not saying that that should happen. Or I want, you know, I'm just saying these things happen. If something happened where Abdul Carter had a crazy off field issue and you
Starting point is 00:05:54 couldn't take him anymore and you decide you do want to take one of the quarterbacks. Well, Derek Carr can be a perfect bridge quarterback. I would give Derek Carr a two year, $40 million deal. So $20 million a year with year, $40 million deal. So $20 million a year with about 25 to 30 million guaranteed. You can finagle the salary cap to where his cap hit for this year is only like 12 to $15 million. So I'm taking Derek Carr.
Starting point is 00:06:18 That's my number one option over Kirk Cousins, who is absolutely washed. Aaron Rodgers, who I don't think that's happened in the jets would lose $25 million in cap space if they cut Aaron Rogers. So I don't think that's happening. So out of, you know, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rogers, Derek Carr, Derek Carr is the best player out of those people, and he's still not going to be incredibly expensive. And I would rather pay Derek Carr $20 million for only two years
Starting point is 00:06:46 than pay Sam Donald $40 million for three years. Like, I'm not paying Sam Donald $40 million a year for three years. That's too much of a commitment. I don't think that Sam Donald is that much better than Derek Carr anyways, if at all. Now, Justin Fields, Jacoby Brissette, Jamis Winston, Mason Rudolph coming back. Maybe those are options for the Titans. But what I would do if I were the Titans is go get Derek Carr after
Starting point is 00:07:15 he's released by the saints. You have the connection, you have a value contract. You're not over committing for the longterm. You can still take a quarterback number one in the draft if you really want to, but you have a veteran bridge guy who's not that expensive you can count on and if they don't want to take a quarterback which is not what my plan is going to be this offseason, I'm gonna go out and pay five million dollars for Mac Jones too. The Titans said that they are going to attack the quarterback position. That is the terminology that Mike Borghansy used.
Starting point is 00:07:46 They are going to attack. All right. Well, go get Derek Carr as your bridge quarterback and your, your presumed starter, and then go get a young guy like Mack Jones for absolutely nothing. And have those guys compete. And I think that Mack Jones could be a long-term backup for the Tennessee Titans. So get him in the building. If Derek Carr gets, again, Brian Callahan cannot risk having terrible quarterback play this year. He cannot risk it. He simply can't.
Starting point is 00:08:17 So you go get Derek Carr as your number one guy. You bring in Mac Jones for cheap as well. Say you two are going to compete for the starting quarterback role. Derek Carr is your number one guy. You bring in Mac Jones for cheap as well. Say you two are going to compete for the starting quarterback role. And then after you move on from Derek Carr after a year with little dead money, you draft your number one quarterback next year. You trade up for a quarterback next year. And you have Mac Jones as a long-term backup who could be behind that guy.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Derek Carr, Mac Jones, $20 million to $18 million total on the salary cap. That is how I fixed the quarterback position for the short term for the Tennessee Titans this year, but I'm making a big splash on the offensive line next. Starting point is 00:10:21 Titans fans. Let's continue today's edition of the locked on Titans podcast. Titans fans. Let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast. It is a mock free agency part of day three of off season Roadmap Week. I bet most of you guys are foaming at the mouth right now angry that I said I wanted to bring in Derek Carr, but it makes so much sense to bring in Derek Carr, pair him with Mac Jones, gives you so much maneuverability going forward. Is it the best quarterback scenario of all time? Is it an elite quarterback? No, but quite honestly, this is one thing to keep in mind. I am not trying to maximize long-term potential with Derek Carr. This is a short-term filler, a bridge quarterback to get us to the next quarterback,
Starting point is 00:11:06 which the Titans take in the draft in the next two years. I know you quarterback folks are going to be so angry, but it is what it is, as they say. With that being said though, moving away from quarterback, which Derek Carr, Mac Jones, for about $18 million. That's where I'm at with that. But then we get to the offensive line and the offensive line needs a ton of love, obviously. No question about it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Last note, Derek Carr last year, 10 games, 67% completion percentage, 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns, five interceptions and 10 games. At about seven games onto that pretty good stat line. Derek Carr is a pretty average starting level quarterback. But you know who's not average? The Tennessee Titans starters on the right side of the offensive line. Now Dylan Radens is going to be a free agent.
Starting point is 00:12:00 And I said on Monday show that I am going to let him go. The reason for that is I want to make a big splash on the offensive line at either right guard or right tackle. The Titans need to go out at either tackle or guard and at a big time addition and we start on the interior offensive line, you have Trey Smith, who is obviously the number one possible target at guard. You have a guy like Tevin Jenkins from Chicago, Kevin Zeitler, the old time vet. He's going to be about 35 though.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Mackay Beckton, who had a resurgent year at guard with the Philadelphia Eagles this season, uh, you have Brandon Sheriff, who is a long time veteran. Zach Martin, who's like 34, 35 now been one of the best guards of my life, but definitely aging, uh, Patrick McCarrey from the Baltimore Ravens, maybe bring Dylan Radens back if we listen, I'm going to get Trey Smith. That's my big free agency move. Go get Trey Smith. Listen, Trey Smith said this week, according to, I think it was Jim
Starting point is 00:13:02 Wyatt from Tennessee Titans.com interviewed him at the Superbowl he said I love Tennessee Tennessee's always home. So clearly he wants to come back home I also saw in an interview recently that Trey Smith said I'm a Tennessee guy. I just want a piece of land and some quiet Well, if you're Trey Smith and let's say you win the Super Bowl or even if you don't You've won two super bowls, probably a three Pete with Kansas city. After this weekend, you've won bigger than any other player in NFL history is one, a three Pete. No one's ever done that. You've accomplished your rings.
Starting point is 00:13:38 There's no reason to stay with Kansas city for maybe a little bit less money than you could get elsewhere. Come to Tennessee, revive your hometown team, be closer to your family. No matter what the chiefs pay you, you're going to be able to make more in Tennessee because no state income tax, which is a huge, huge factor for the Titans in free agency. It makes too much sense. You come home, you have J.C. Latham at left tackle, Peter Skowronski at left guard, Cushion Barry at center. Now you pay a big time contract to Trey Smith to come home and be your right guard. And you are set at those four positions for quite some time. You're set. This move would, it's a better player Trey Smith is a better player but it
Starting point is 00:14:27 reminds me of getting excuse me Roger Saffold from the Rams after they went to the Super Bowl in 2018 you get Roger Saffold now you have solidified your offensive line and you move forward so Trey Smith four years 82 million dollars the Tennessee Titans finagle the cap so that it's only $12 million in salary cap hit this year. But Tray Smith, an absolute home run signing for the Tennessee Titans. If they're able to pull it off, think in his four years in his career, 17 games, 16 games, 17 games, 17 games, 17 games, 17 games, and multiple playoff runs. He was ninth overall in pro football focus rating as a guard.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Seventh in run blocking, 19th in pass blocking. Trey Smith has given up less sacks in the past three seasons than Dylan Radens did this year in 15 games. Radens gave up Radens did this year in 15 games. Radens gave up six sacks this year in 15 games. Trey Smith has given up four sacks in three seasons. Peter Skoronsky gave up four sacks this year. And Peter Skoronsky was the seventh best pass blocking guard in the NFL. So, I just love Trey Smith.
Starting point is 00:15:44 Second best guard in the NFL and pass block win rate over the last four seasons, 95.6. Like he is just an absolute animal, one of the best guards in the NFL. I think that the Titans can afford to spend on Trey Smith and get him in the building. So I'm going to sign Trey Smith at right guard. That is my big time splash free agent signing for the Tennessee Titans to go along with the two signings that we made at quarterback with Derek Carr and Mac Jones. Now we got to move to offensive tackle because clearly a big position of need for the Titans. You got guys like Cam Robinson, Jedrick Wills, Ronnie Stanley is at
Starting point is 00:16:22 the top of the market, the Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle, Tyron Smith, who played for the Jets last year, who's obviously at the end of his career, Morgan Moses, another guy in his mid thirties, uh, Alaric Jackson from the Los Angeles Rams, Joe Noteboom could be an option as well for me. I look at that list and I made my decision. The Titans either need to give out a big contract at right tackle to Cam Robinson or Ronnie Stanley and get a cheap veteran guard or they need to give out a big contract at guard and go with a cheap veteran insurance option at right tackle so that they're
Starting point is 00:17:00 protected for the draft. I decided to go with the best player available and in my opinion that's Trey Smith. He's only 25 years old. So I'm giving a big-time contract to Trey Smith which means I'm going with a veteran insurance option at right tackle and I'm gonna go with Jedrick Wills. Jedrick Wills from the Cleveland Browns he's still only 26 years old. Injuries are a bit of an issue in his five seasons, 15 games, 13 games, 17 games, and then eight games and five games in the last two years. So you have to make sure he's healthy. But Bill Callahan got the most out of Jedrick wills. Also, you could say Jedrick wills has been a left tackle.
Starting point is 00:17:42 He was a right tackle in college and he's less important than J.C. Latham. So leave J.C. Latham at left tackle. You have Peter Skoronsky at left guard, Cushinberry at center, Trace Smith now one of the best guards in the NFL at right guard. You bring in Jedrick Wills as an insurance policy in case you can't get a right tackle early enough in the NFL draft, but you still have a guy who has played high level ball under Bill Callahan, who has
Starting point is 00:18:08 right tackle history that he can rely on. 29 games in college. Jedrick wills played it right tackle. So a big portion. All right. So that is how I attacked the offensive line. I make the big splash signing at right guard. I get a good young veteran insurance policy at right tackle.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Jedrick wills is better than Nicholas Patifor rare could ever dream of being. Even though Jedrick wills has not been at his best the last few years, but the connection to bill Callahan, his market value is only $2 million. So I'm getting Jedrick wills for $2 million with starter potential, still only 26 years old with a connection to Bill Callahan and history at the right tackle position. He may not be the starter at right tackle if we hit the draft well, but he's a dang good insurance policy for the Titans. So Derek Carr and Mack Jones at quarterback, Trey Smith at guard coming back to Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Jedrick Wills is an insurance policy at right tackle. That's my big move so far. Now I got some value options for cheap coming right now. First do want to let you guys know that today's episode is brought to you by prize picks. The big game is almost here and there's no better way to make it even more exciting than with prize picks. Run your game. Titans fans. Let's cap off today's mock free agency edition of the locked on Titans podcast. Day three of off season roadmap week. Want to remind you guys on Monday, our first show of the week, I went through every in-house
Starting point is 00:20:58 free agent for the Titans and decided whether I want to bring them back or let them go. That impacts how much money we have here in free agency and how many holes we plan to fill. I'm going to recap everything at the end of this week. But yesterday's show, we went through trade options for the Titans. We went through cap put options for the Titans. We talked about veterans that were not going to mess with their contracts. Now I'm going to amend that a little bit here in just a second, but obviously today $40 million a cap space.
Starting point is 00:21:27 We get Derek Carr, Mac Jones, Jedrick Wills and Trey Smith. We've used about $34 million of cap space at this moment in time. I do believe is, uh, is the total of where we're at with these free agency, about 18 million with Derek Carr and Mac Jones together. Um, 2 million was the keyists or haven't got there yet, but 2 million with Jedrick wills. That's 20. Then we get 12 million with Trey Smith. That's 32.
Starting point is 00:21:57 And uh, yeah, that that's it. So we're at 32 right now. Anyways, moving right along some veteran value options. I just mentioned his name, but at wide receiver, you could go big time with T Higgins, probably 32 to $38 million per year. You could go, you know, Stefan Diggs, I guess, Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, Chris Godwin, Brandon Cooks. I don't want any of those old guys. I mean, T Higgins isn't an old guy, but T Higgins.
Starting point is 00:22:24 I've said this before. The Tennessee Titans are paying too much money to Calvin Ridley to go out and pay that much money for another veteran wide receiver. The Titans need to draft and develop again. This is not the big splash free agency that the Titans had last year. But Mike Borganzi has already said they're not going to be as aggressive in free agency. So you get your one big signing in Trey Smith, you attack the quarterback room, you add an insurance policy at right tackle. Now you just need to add some cheap veteran options to fill spots.
Starting point is 00:22:58 And that starts with Olameda Zaccheaus. Plays for the Washington commanders right now. Had a really good year this year as a depth wide receiver, 45 catches, 500 yards, three touchdowns. He gives you speed out of the slot at only five foot eight. He even played outside. He's played a ton of outside reps. So he gives you versatility and he has done punt returning in his career, which gives you another option at punt returner. It's only going to be about $2.2 million for Olameda Zaccheaus.
Starting point is 00:23:27 That's what he got paid this year by the commanders. That's going to be his rate until he's out of the NFL. But you add a speed guy who can play in the slot, who can punt return, who is cheap, but has been productive and can also be versatile in his alignment. I wanted Olameda Zaccheaus last year in free agency. I want him again now. Olameda Zaccheaus added to the wide receiver room. We're bringing back Tyler Boyd. We're bringing back NWI. You add Zaccheaus for some speed after trading Traylon Burks. I think we're getting somewhere when we add in a rookie
Starting point is 00:23:59 in that equation, but I love the value depth at wide receiver there moving forward. We go to defense where I make two signings on the defensive side of the ball. The Titans need edge depth and I cut Kenneth Murray. So the Titans needed inside linebacker at edge. You could go for a guy like Pileo Mack, who was probably going to get paid 15 to $20 million for one season as an old time veteran. A big guy that everybody is connecting the dots with for the Titans is Josh Shwett from the Philadelphia Eagles. He's only 27, going to be 28 soon. Had eight and a half sacks last year, has been part of that rotation in Philly. Look, I am not going to be mad if the
Starting point is 00:24:46 Tennessee Titans signed Josh Schwett, but if you signed Josh Schwett, I don't think that you also draft Abdul Carter because now you're giving out a big time edge contract to go along with what you're paying Harold Landry and what you're paying Arden Key and I just don't think that makes a ton of sense. Plus, I don't think that that Josh sweat is the type of pass rusher. The Titans need to add. He's not what they're missing. He has a Harold Landry level pass rusher. He's a good finisher.
Starting point is 00:25:14 He has a guy who, when he's got good depth on the defensive line around him, he's going to be able to help. He plays with good energy. Like, but he got eight and a half sacks. We're not talking about Brian burns or, you know, we're not talking about. Josh Hines, Alan, the guys that are on the tier below miles Garrett and TJ watt and Nick Bosa and Max Crosby. We're not talking about a second tier edge.
Starting point is 00:25:39 We're talking about a third tier edge. He's in the same group as Harold Landry. And I don't want to pay big time money for another Harold Landry who wasn't drafted and developed by the Titans anyway. Plus it is a known thing that Josh Shwett is a malcontent in the locker room. He's not a guy who gets along very well in the locker room. He has drama and concerns and you know, he's not a bad person, but he's just a bit of a, you know, cantankerous personality in a locker room. And that's not what the Tennessee Titans need right now.
Starting point is 00:26:10 So I don't think he's worth it for the player that he is or the personality that he is. Hassan Reddick was a guy who I wanted back before the Titans signed Bud Dupreeh. I wanted Hassan Reddick, but he's available now. Malcolm Coots, injured all year for the Raiders. Only 26 years old. Could make some sense. Chase Young back on the market. Matt Judon, Aziz Oljalary, Demarcus Lawrence are all options.
Starting point is 00:26:36 But the guy that I think makes the most sense is Baron Browning. So Baron Browning has had some injury issues, but when he played for the Denver Broncos, he had 11 sacks in three years. After his first season in the NFL, he went from off-ball linebacker to edge rusher. He's had some injuries in the last few seasons. He ended up getting traded this year to the Cardinals, but he's a free agent. Baron Browning has great athleticism because he used to be an off-ball linebacker. He's got great versatility to drop back into coverage and those zone blitzes that the Titans like to run under to Bernard Wilson.
Starting point is 00:27:14 His salary cap expectation is only about $5 million. You could probably get them on the salary cap for about $3.5 million when you finagle the contract. Baron Browning adds great debt and it also gives you insurance that if you do draft Abdul Carter with the number one pick, now you could potentially trade Arden Key or you could move on from Harold Landry because you would have Baron Browning, one of those guys and Abdul Carter.
Starting point is 00:27:41 I personally would like to see all four of them. Give me Abdul Carter, Harold Landry as starters and Baron Browning and Arden Key as rotational rushers. And I think that would be the best possible edge group the Titans could make. And it wouldn't really be that expensive because again, Baron Browning only about $5 million is the expectation. Maybe only 3.5 million on the salary cap. So love that at all fall linebacker. Again, I cut Kenneth Murray. So we have Cedric gray, James Williams, Luke Gifford,
Starting point is 00:28:12 bring Otis Reese back, Chance Campbell may be back healthy. Jack Gibbons probably not gonna be healthy for most of the season. But the way I see it, one of these young linebackers, whether it be Cedric Gray or James Williams, one of those guys need to start next year. Like we need to see it. It's time.
Starting point is 00:28:30 But with that, the Titans need one actual true starting level linebacker. I would love to add somebody in the draft, but I'm not certain you're going to be able to do that with good value, with the other needs that matter more. So you look Nick Bolton from the chiefs, incredible linebacker is available, but he's probably going to make $15 million a year. Like Patrick Queen, Aziz Al-Shayr money. I'm not paying that for a non elite off ball linebacker. Dre Greenlaw only 27 great linebacker, but injury issues, hard to pay him. Bobby Wagner
Starting point is 00:29:11 Go back to the commanders. It doesn't make any sense Ernest Jones. The titans already showed that they didn't want to pay him Zach bond great all pro year with the eagles. I'm not paying zach bond for that one year Levante david robert spleen um clay barton Or cody barton, I mean But the guy that I've identified that I want to give a shot. Is Jamie and Sherwood from the jets. He had 158 tackles last year. He's played 17 games in three straight seasons. He's only 25 years old.
Starting point is 00:29:40 He had two sacks. He had 10 tackles for loss, three pass deflections. This is a guy who is young, violent, downhill fits perfectly what Dynard Wilson wants in a linebacker, but he's also shown a little bit of ability and coverage and at only 25 years old could stand to get better in coverage. Jamie and Sherwood has played behind guys for the New York Jets. So he hasn't really got his full opportunity to shine, but look what he did last year, 158 tackles, two sacks, 10 tackles for loss in the opportunity when he finally got to
Starting point is 00:30:15 be at the big time. You could probably get him for about two years, $15 million. It is the same exact contract that they gave Kenneth Murray last year. Just give the exact same contract to Jamie and Sherwood and see if he's better than Kenneth Murray. And I think that he could be two years, 15 million, 5.5 million on the salary cap this year, which is the same thing that the Titans did with Kenneth Murray. So, Derek Carr, two years, $40 million. Mack Jones, two years, $10 million.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Olamaita Zaccheaus, one year, $2 million. Jedrick Wills, one year, $2 million. Trey Smith, four years, $82 million. Baron Browning, one year, $5 million. Jamie and Sherwood, two years, $15 million. That is my free agency hall for the Tennessee Titans. If you add up what I think their cap hits would be, remember the average per season,
Starting point is 00:31:11 if it's four years, 20, four years, 80 million, that's 20 million a season, but your cap hit isn't going to be $20 million. That's not how it works. So for cap hits, Derek Carr, 15 million, Matt Jones, 3 million, Zacchaeus, 2 million, Wills, 2 million, Trace Smith, 12 million, Baron Browning, 3.5 and Jamie and Sherwood, 5.5. That is $43 million. Now coming into the day.
Starting point is 00:31:39 Well, let me say this, it's $43 million. But remember, only the top 51 players count towards your salary cap number. The Tennessee Titans would be adding seven players. So you knock off seven players, which is $7 million, because all of those players have about $984,000 on the salary cap. So you're adding seven, but you get to remove $7 million. So $43 million in salary cap money spent on these free agents minus 7 million gives you $35 million. Now I said yesterday, I wasn't going to touch any of the contracts of Calvin Ridley, Ligeria Snead, Cushionberry, Cheeto, but I am going to do a small
Starting point is 00:32:23 adjustment on Calvin Ridley because I expect Calvin Ridley to be with the Titans for the next two seasons, which means they're not going to cut him after the year and then have a ton of dead cap that they have to eat. They're going to have him for another year after that. I think the Titans move on from Calvin Ridley after 2026. So I'm going to do a $13 million adjustment or my apologies, an $11 million adjustment on Calvin Ridley's contract to give the Tennessee Titans a little bit more in salary cap room. So we get the Titans up to $55 million in salary cap space.
Starting point is 00:33:14 And then after that we remove down with the 35 million that we've spent. So we get up to 55 million in cap space with the Calvin Ridley restructure. And then we spend our 35 million in salary cap space on these free agents. And the Titans have $20 million of salary cap space left as they head towards the NFL draft and the summer free agent market. So that's where I'm at right now. That's everything I've done to this point. Derek Carr, Mac Jones, Olameda Zaccheaus, Jedrick Wills, Trey Smith, Baron Browning, Jamie and Sherwood. Add that to the players that we re-signed on Monday's show. And we have $20 million of cap space leftover headed to the NFL draft on tomorrow's show. Set, round, mock draft. Coming your way.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Make sure that you get subscribed, stay subscribed. But that's going to do it for me today, folks. As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
