Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans MUST ATTACK Las Vegas Raiders, JC Latham Must Return to O-Line & Chance to Streak
Episode Date: October 9, 2025The Tennessee Titans take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6 with a great chance to get a winning streak going, but to do so they must ATTACK the zone heavy defense of the Raiders and do it out of hea...vy personnel with multiple tight ends. This creates good matchups they can take advantage of. They will also need JC Latham back out on the field to help deal with Raiders all-pro Maxx Crosby. Crosby can wreck a game, just like rookie running back Ashton Jeanty. To stop Jeanty, the Titans will need impressive young linebacker Cedric Gray to continue playing well and stick with Jeanty everywhere. Finally, Tyler isn't confident the Titans win this game on the road, but thinks you can count on certain players to make a big impact. If the Tennessee Titans want to get their second win of the season,
they must attack the Las Vegas Raiders schematically.

On today's show, we are going to game plan to how the Titans can beat the Las Vegas Raiders.
I'm going to tell you how they need to attack the Raiders schematically,
specifically attack the Raiders zone defense.
We're going to talk about the players to watch in this game,
and a lot of it will have to do with taking on Max Crosby and Ashton Genty.
And then finally, I'll give you guys my predictions for this game.
We'll talk game and score prediction, fantasy, gambling, all that.
Before we dive in, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans,

But with that being said,
again, the Titans
got that win against the Cardinals
and like I talked about earlier this week,
quite honestly,
that was a fluke.
win and it doesn't make me believe in this Tennessee Titans team anymore than I already did
and I am not more confident in this Titans team than I was before but they do have some
opportunities here that give them as good of a chance to get their second win and go streaking
as they could hope for like you look at the schedule ahead I think this game against the
Raiders is one of the best chances that the Titans will have to get another victory this year for
quite some time.
Like, they have some difficult games coming up after this week.
The bye week is in there.
I would look to, what is it, week 13 or 14 against the Cleveland Browns
before I would say I would feel confident in picking the Tennessee Titans to win a game.
So this matchup, they really need to take advantage.
And as we talk about the keys to victory,
we talk about the players to watch.
I think they do have a great opportunity to get this win.
Now, what it starts with is going on the attack.
the Las Vegas Raiders
by far
I mean 20 percentage points
play more cover 3 zone
than anyone else in the NFL
and they play barely no man
whatsoever I mean we are talking about
low low percentages
of man coverage for the Raiders
and quite honestly
I think that is a huge benefit
to the Tennessee Titans
the Titans struggle against man
they're better against
I think Brian Callahan is a more creative and better play caller against zone coverage as well.
Well, Beau Hart agrees calling the plays now, but play designer, offensive structure.
I think the Titans are much better attacking zone coverages than they are attacking man coverages this year.
Because against man coverage, it's just about wide receivers winning one-on-one against their guy.
And quite frankly, the Titans don't have a lot of guys who are good at that.
Even Calvin Ridley hasn't been super good against man coverage this year, which he's their number one
man beater. But again,
Zone, it's more
schematic. It's more trying to get
your guys into good areas
on the field to attack zone
especially a team like the Raiders
who are so heavy with their
cover three. Look, you guys know Pete
Carroll, that Legion of
Boom defense from the Seattle Seahawks
it kept going with
Dan Quinn and, you know, it's
classic cover
three. Well, a lot of the
Titans' best route concepts that we've
talked about a ton, are cover three beaters where you're flooding the sideline with three
different levels. Or you're trying to spread out the intermediate defenders, the hook defenders
of cover three, and then hit underneath of them. That sort of stuff should be able to work
at max capacity this week against the Raiders. And I think you look at what the Titans have
done well, Elycaio Manor on the sideline. Calvin Ridley on quick out routes and deep out
routes on the sideline. Some of the sit-down routes from the tight ends over the middle
of the field. All of that is going to work a lot better against heavy zone coverage and
specifically against cover three. Think about when the Titans attacked on the sideline
with Elylech-ioner on multiple matchups this year. That's against cover three because the
cornerback and the wide receiver are basically in a one-on-one situation, but the
cornerback can't afford to get beat deep since they have deep responsibility and it gives
the Titans the opportunity to win some of those one-on-one
matchups on the outside and I think
this is going to be a big week in my opinion
for the Titans to continue going heavy
last week we saw them use a ton of
two tight-end sets, three tight-end sets
jumbo packages with multiple offensive linemen in
a couple of snaps there early in the game
the Titans had Corey Levin and Brendan Crenshaw Dixon in
seven offensive linemen on the field with another tight end
Like, I think the Titans are going to go super heavy in this matchup.
I think you want the Raiders in their base defense.
That's how you want to attack them.
And you know that in their base defense, they're going to play cover three.
And if you have multiple linebackers on the field
or you have defensive linemen dropping back in the zone,
that's going to give the Titans an advantage,
especially when they have a quick and shifty tight end like Chicka Conquo
and then a smart tight end like Gunner Helm
who can sit in the zones and run good rapid.
in the intermediate areas.
I think this is a huge opportunity for the Titans offense to really get on track early and often
and they can use these heavy packages that they want to be in any way to get advantageous matchups
with the Las Vegas Raiders defense.
So I think everything about the Raiders defense essentially other than one thing,
which we'll talk about here in a second, I think it fits perfectly into what the Titans want to do on offense.
Now my number two key to victory for the Titans is to stop.
the run. The Raiders pass offense has been awful this year. Gino Smith has committed a bunch of
turnovers. They have not been able to get things going and has not been a good showing from the Raiders
pass offense. They're not good at converting on third downs and I think all the Titans have to do
here. They don't have a lot of weapons on the out. Trey Tucker is a good gadget player and a pretty
good solid wide receiver. I don't want to take credit away from him. Jacoby Myers
Not a great number one wide receiver,
but a good number two, wide receiver.
But that's not a Nico Collins.
That's not a Marvin Harris Jr.
I wouldn't even say that's close to Indianapolis's group of past catchers.
It's certainly not Devante Adams and Pooka and Akua,
and I don't think it's really Cortland Sutton either.
So if you're the Titans and you look at the Raiders talent on all,
offense. They don't really have a lot to threaten you in the passing game.
So, stop the run.
If you could stop Ashton Genty, you can win this football game.
You could put the Raiders in third and long situations.
You can get turnovers on Gino Smith.
Like, just don't let the Raiders, best players, kill you.
Because they don't have a lot of them.
They don't have a lot of them.
Like the Titans, they're a bad football team without a lot of
star players. And I'm sure a lot of what I'm saying right now is what the Raiders are going
to be saying. Don't let the Titans run the football and get into third and short. Don't let
Jeffrey Simmons wreck the game. You know what I mean? Like simple concepts. But for the
Titans, they have to make sure that they don't let Genty get going in the ground game. Because
if they do, they're just going to open up a can of worms that makes everything easier for Gino
Smith. It's going to limit the turnovers that they're able to
create, they have to stop the run. It's more important than ever this week. Now the final
thing is the turnover battle. So right now the Titans are basically middle of the pack
in the NFL when it comes to turnover differential. They're at zero overall. They've gotten
as many turnovers as they have forced. Okay? And while you want to be on the positive side,
it's nice to not be on the negative side like the Titans were last year, where the
defense wasn't forcing any turnovers and the offense was turning over the ball a ton. Well,
The Raiders, on the other hand, are second to last in the NFL and turnover margin minus six.
The defense does not create a lot of turnovers and the offense is given the ball away at a crazy rate.
Gino Smith leads the NFL with nine interceptions.
If the Titans go against a team on the road, who quite honestly isn't any better than them,
and they lose the turnover battle and give the ball away to the other team and don't take them,
it away when everyone else is taking it away,
they're not gonna have a chance to win, period.
So, at minimum, they can't lose the turnover battle,
but realistically, they need to find the way to win the turnover battle,
and it'll give them a good opportunity to win the game.
So my keys to victory here,
attack the zone coverage of the Las Vegas Raiders,
stop the run, win the turnover battle.
If they do that, the Titans will win this game.
But a lot of it will come down to individual matches,
for the Titans, including how they deal with Max Crosby, but we do have somewhat good news
when it comes to potentially holding down the Raiders best player.

Titans fans. Let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Doing our game plan episode, I'm telling you how the Tennessee Titans can beat the Las Vegas Raiders.
We talked about my keys to victory in this matchup.
Now I want to dive into my players to watch before we dive in though.
Thanks again.
for making Locked on Titans, your first listen each and every day.

It is your team every day after all.
But with that being said,
some of what we talked about in the keys to victory
kind of bleed over to the players to watch in this one
because a lot of the keys to victory
are dependent on certain players making things happen.
And my first player to watch in this game is Elykeyo Manor,
the Titans rookie wide receiver.
But it's been up and down.
for I.
He's not really separating very much
against man coverage,
had a few drops here and there,
not perfect passes per se,
especially last week against the Cardinals,
but a couple of drops,
that slant on third down in the red zone,
the crossing route on third and long
that was a little behind him,
but he could have caught it.
The balls could have been better,
but Iyo could also help his quarterback
and make a play,
and he just simply hasn't done that
in quite a few weeks,
but I think he's going to have a great,
opportunity to do that here.
So, number one, the cornerback group for the Raiders is not very good.
I mean, Kayu Blue Kelly, Darnay Holmes, I don't know if they're going to have Eric Stokes
or Dary and Porter or whatever, but it's not a great group.
It is not a great group whatsoever.
One of the worst groups in the NFL, in my opinion.
And when you add in the schematic conversation that we just had about being cover three,
when have we seen ELEC do his best work?
It's against cover three
with basically a one-on-one matchup
down the sideline with a cornerback.
You could hit those back shoulder fades.
You could throw those balls up to him
and let him go make jump ball passes.
Like jump ball plays.
That is what he's going to do well here.
I think that's going to work.
And some of those out routes to the sideline
I think are going to be available for I.O.
So I think this is a big week
for ELEC I-O manner to win
some isolated matchups down the sideline
and even if the Titans get into
disadvantageous situations on offense
I think IA will have matchups
where he can win physically
okay, it's time for him to step back up
it's time for him to make some plays in this matchup
so I think Iyo Manor is a guy to watch
now I think the tight ends
I only do three players to watch but I'm giving you a bonus
I think the tight ends are ones to watch here too
okay I think with how much the Titans
are going to play in heavy personnel
where they have multiple offensive linemen
in past the five that you would typically see
or multiple tight ends out on the field.
Again, get the Raiders in their base coverage.
Get the Raiders with three linebackers,
four linebackers on the field.
And then have your tight ends
who will have good matchups in that instance
because look, here's the reality.
Devin White has been better for the Raiders
than he had been the last couple of years
where he was floating around the NFL,
but he's not good in past coverage.
It's terrible in past coverage.
Jamal Adams, not good in past coverage
and hasn't been for a long time.
These are guys who are over-aggressive
who get downhill, and again,
you want to get the Raiders into their base defense
so you also get Elandon Roberts out on the field.
Tommy Eichenberg from last year.
These are guys that you can attack in past coverage.
So, you get multiple tight-end sets out there, two tight ends, three tight ends.
You play action off that.
You have your tight ends, Chigacanquo, Gunnar Helm, matched up one-on-one with some of these linebackers
or have these linebackers bite on the play fake and then get the tight ends behind them.
I think that is a great opportunity for the Tennessee Titans tight ends to make some plays here.
But Elyke-I-O-Manor down the sideline against cover three, I also think will be incredible.
Now, we'll stay on the offensive side of the ball
where I look at J.C. Latham.
Now, Latham Limited, I think that he's going to play.
If he doesn't play, then you could just say this is Ali Udo.
But I think that Latham will play in this game, and they need him.
Because last week, Mad Max Crosby
lined up across from the right tackle, the majority of the game.
85, 90% of the game.
Now, they can move Max Crosby around and they do a lot of twists and stunts with Max Crosby
where it's not just on J.C. Latham, it's going to be on everybody to slow down Max Crosby.
However, when there are one-on-one situations, when it is time,
the Titans are going to need J.C. Latham to be the player that, quite frankly, they need him to be.
You know what I mean? Like, he's a former top 10 pick.
There were a lot of good offensive tackles in that draft class,
whether it be Olu Faschenou or whether
it be Tilesafuaga or be Troy Fontanu, you know, there were a lot of good offensive
tackles. And some of those guys have played pretty well behind J.C. Latham.
So the Titans desperately need Latham back in the lineup, and they need him to play up to the
level that he is expected to play to based on where his draft slot was.
So I think that Latham is going to play in this game.
I think he's going to be back out on the field, and he's going to have a very difficult
matchup.
Now, that could lead the Raiders to.
moving him over, you know, moving Max Crosby over on Dan Moore,
where I think the Titans have less of a chance for that to go well.
But at the end of the day, if Latham can hold down the fort,
it would just be such a boost to the Tennessee Titans offense
and what they're able to do throughout the day.
Now, my final actual player to watch is Cedric Gray.
And here's why. Stop the run, right?
Cody Barton's not been very good, but if Cody Barton,
can take on a block and let Cedric Gray come from behind him with speed and physicality
and make tackles, that'll be huge.
Cedric Gray cannot miss tackles.
And what's crazy is Cedric Gray is third in the NFL right now in total tackles.
In the entire NFL.
That's pretty impressive for the second year player who is basically a first year player
after missing most of his rookie year with injury.
If Cedric Gray can get Ashton Genti on the ground,
the Titans are going to have a great opportunity to get the Raiders
in those third and long situations that I'm talking about
and then force those turnovers on Gino Smith
like everybody else has throughout this year.
Now, one other sneaky thing to consider.
The Raiders have had some success
throwing the ball to Ashton Janty out of the backfield.
Okay, not something that he was incredibly known for in college,
but they've been able to do it.
If the Titans do play man coverage on the Raiders,
which I think there'll be a little bit of a bump in man coverage this year
because the Raiders don't have a lot of weapons
that threaten you a ton, especially if Brock Bowers doesn't play,
which, according to Q. Myers from Locked on Raiders in yesterday's crossover,
he doesn't anticipate him playing.
And even if he does, he's going to be banged up.
So for me, what you can't do is you can't let Ashton Genty beat a linebacker in one-on-one,
or if you're Cedric Gray, you can't get beat in one-on-one against Ashton-Gentie
in the passing game.
You can't do that.
So Cedric Gray is going to have his hands full in this one, in run defense,
and one-on-one with Gentie coming out of the backfield.
And you don't want Cody Barton, Guard, Ashton, Jenty.
So it needs to be Cedric Gray.
I think the Titans will play a lot of man coverage.
And if I'm the Titans, I want Cedric Gray as the guy
taking the running back out of the backfield.
Not Cody Barton.
You can let Cody Barton.
And honestly, Cody Barton has been the one linebacker
out on the field when the Titans go dime,
which with dime, you have six defensive backs,
one linebacker and four defensive linemen.
Okay?
If I'm the Titans, I'm running a lot of dime on third down this week.
And I would bring Kevin Winston into the game finally.
And maybe you have Cedric Gray as the linebacker who stays in zone coverage
as the hook defender over the middle.
And then you have Kevin Winston play man coverage against the running back.
And if the running back stays in, then you blitz Kevin Winston.
And with his length and his physicality and his size and speed,
he could turn into a pretty good blitzer for the Titans.
He did that pretty well in college and limited opportunities.
So I think this would be a big week
to have four safeties out there for the Titans
running their dime packages,
but replacing the linebacker with Kevin Winston.
Look for that as well.
But those are my three legit players to watch,
Elykeye O Manor, Cedric Gray, J.C. Latham.
But now it's time for my predictions for this matchup.
Do want to let you guys know that today's episode is brought to you by Fandool Sportsbook.

Titans fans, let's cap off today's game plan preview edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
I told you guys my keys to victory.
I talked about my players to watch in this one, how they kind of intercept, of course.
with what the Titans need to accomplish.
But now it's time to do some predictions.
Let me know your predictions for this game down below,
who you think is going to win,
who's going to be your X-Factor player
that breaks out your keys to victory,
your players to watch, all of that.
Before we dive in, though,
thanks again for making Locked on Titans,
your first listen each and every day.
Shout out to my everydayers out there.
If you aren't an everydayer, you need to be one.
But first, we start with my prediction for this one.
And quite frankly, I just don't trust Brian Callahan.
I think the Titans are going to be in this game
I think it's going to be very close at the end
but I just trust the Raiders and Gino Smith and Pete Carroll
to find a way to pull this out at home with their back against the wall
I think the Titans do have some success
I think they score points again I think this one's very close
I think the Titans might actually be winning this game
in the fourth quarter 16 to 13
but something just tells me that the Titans
aren't going to be able to keep up their momentum
they aren't going to be able to keep things going from last week
that they got going at the end of the game,
and the Raiders aren't like a team that's worse than the Titans.
They're pretty even.
The Raiders are at home.
I don't think the Titans are going to be able to force the turnovers
that they need to to win this game.
And Max Crosby, I think, does find a way to force a turnover.
So I do think this will be really close,
but I am going to go with the Raiders to win this one, 20 to 16.
Now, moving on to keeping it plus 100,
the gambling aspect.
of the show
the Titans right now
are 5.5 point underdogs
and I think that's too much
whether the Titans lose by 4
whether the Titans win by 3
whether the Titans lose by 3
whatever it might be 20 to 19
something like that
I think this is going to be a close
game so I think
even on the road
5 and a half points is too much
right now so I would take the Titans
plus 5 and a half
on Fandle now
over under at 41 and a half
If I had to lean, I would lean under.
But you guys know, I really hate doing over-under.
So I'm just not good at them.
I just can never tell how these games are going to go.
Whenever I think it's going to be low-scoring, it's high-scoring,
whenever I think the opposite, it's the opposite.
So I feel much more comfortable with Titans plus five and a half
than I do doing the over-under.
So that's how I kind of read the gambling aspect of that.
Make sure that you guys check out fandle.com.
But
my beautiful dark-twisted fantasy player of the week
is going to be Gunner Helm
I think that Gunner Helm gets in the end zone this week
gets his first touchdown
I think the Titans are going to play more two tight-end sets
Nick Holes, the Titans offensive coordinator
entitled only in my opinion
doesn't call the plays, doesn't design the offense
okay, whatever
but he even said
Gunner Helm has earned more opportunities
and like, duh, like, how did it take so long for this to be a thing?
But either way, moving right along,
I think with everything that we've talked about,
the Raiders loving zone coverage,
the Titans being in heavy personnel, 12, 13 personnel.
I think with all of that, it's going to create more opportunities for the Titans
and the Raiders are not a good football team.
They have slower linebackers who are overly aggressive and undisciplined.
I think it's going to create massive.
opportunities for the tight ends over the middle of the field.
So I'm going to go with Gunner Helm as my beautiful dark twisted fantasy player to watch of the week.
Whether you're looking for a really cheap option in daily fantasy,
you have to stream a tight end because of buys and injuries and all of that.
Gunner Helm could be a very good option for you this week.
But that's my predictions for this game.
That's how I think things play out again.
Let me know your predictions down below.
We got another 4 o'clock game Easter time, 3 o'clock game Central.
I'm tired of it.
I really am tired of this, Grandpa, but either way,
I'll be here as soon as the game ends to break it all down with you guys.
Can't wait to see how it all plays out.
I'm actually excited for the Titans game this week.
Cannot wait to see what they're able to do in their, you know,
opportunity to go streaking through the quad to the gymnasium.
It's time.
But with that being said, that's going to do it for me today.
Folks, as always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland,
and this.
was locked on tightens.
