Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans MUST BE READY for 2030 Super Bowl in Nashville & Titans Broadcast Booth Controversy

Episode Date: May 19, 2026

The Tennessee Titans are going to be awarded the Super Bowl in 2030 that will take place in the new Nissan Stadium. That is great for the city, but the Titans as a football team need to find a way to ...make themselves a contender to play in that game. It'll take wise roster moves, but what the Titans really need is for Cam Ward to become a quarterback that gives them a shot. There has also been some controversy as of late when it comes to the Titans' broadcast team. Changes have been made and now some in the fan base are not happy.   LOCKED ON TITANS EVERYDAY CLUB: https://lockedontitans.supercast.com/   Subscribe to the TicTacTitans Film Channel:  https://www.youtube.com/@TicTacTitans   TicTacTitans Merchandise: https://dixons-dream.square.site/shop...   Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitans   Follow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPod   Subscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@LockedOnTitans   Everydayer ClubIf you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. Starting point is 00:00:00 Nashville was awarded the 2030 Super Bowl, but I want to see the Tennessee Titans play in that game. And we'll talk about how they can do it on today's edition of Locked on Titans. You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked on podcast network, your team every day. Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast. I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans. Today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast is brought to you by Game Time.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Download the Game Time app, create an account, use the code locked on for $20 off your first purchase on today's show. We're going to talk about the recent controversy around the Tennessee Titans broadcasting team that I think is really just a little too much. But we're going to start with the big news that Nashville was awarded the 2030 Super Bowl. But I'm more interested with how the Tennessee Titans can play in that game. What do they need to do going forward? What can we learn this year? Again, number one, congratulations to Nashville. Excellent city, one of my favorite cities on the east side of the country.
Starting point is 00:01:12 I've been to Nashville multiple times, enjoy it every time. My kind of place. It's going to be a party, just like the draft. That was the best draft of all time. Nashville was absolutely insane for the draft. Incredible, experience, incredible weekend that everybody remembers. So I know that the Super Bowl is going to be great. congratulations if you're in Nashville and that's good news for you, your business, whatever
Starting point is 00:01:35 it happens to be great. But I will say this, I'm not going to go to that Super Bowl or be overly excited about that Super Bowl or care more about that Super Bowl because it's in Nashville if the Tennessee Titans are not involved. Now, it's happened multiple times before as my guy Brad Hopkins, the Titans legend, talked about earlier today on the Titans Squad show. You guys should be checking those out multiple times a week. But the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won a Super Bowl at home.
Starting point is 00:02:04 The Los Angeles Rams won a Super Bowl at home. So it's not like the Titans have to do something miraculous that has never happened before. And the timeline does sort of make some sense. It would be after the 20-29 season. So Cam would be in his prime. Hopefully Robert Salas built a great program and is still here. Cornell Tate, one of the better wide receivers in the NFL,
Starting point is 00:02:26 some of these young players that we've been talking about all week and we'll talk about all summer, blossom into real helpful guys on the roster. That's what I want to see. I want to see the Titans in that game. So it's great for Nashville. Congratulations, if that impacts you in a positive way. Sorry if it impacts you in a negative way.
Starting point is 00:02:44 It was always going to be the case once the Titans got a new stadium. But if the Titans could find a way, think about how magical it would be, if the Titans could find a way to be in that game. The Jersey and the stadiums, and Cam leading the way, a real franchise quarterback, some things that, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:09 I get into controversial waters when I start to say things like this, but, you know, the Titans have never had one of those consistent top of the league every single year type quarterback, wide receiver players. I love Steve to death, legend. But, you know, Steve got that MVP, and he had to split it with Peyton Manning. You know, Steve wasn't any elite.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Like, Steve isn't on the level that, like, Lamar Jackson is right now. You see what I'm saying, like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Mahomes, even Joe Burrow, I would say. I don't think Steve was quite on that level as a player. The Titans were a complete football team. Now, we're really off the rails of the conversation. But the point is, I think Cam could be on that. level with those players. And if he's that, and the Titans have never had a truly great number one wide receiver outside of AJ Brown, in my opinion, like a true number one elite dog wide receiver
Starting point is 00:04:10 in Titans history. Derek Mason is the best wide receiver in Titans history. And Derek Mason was a good wide receiver, but he was a personal player and a kick returner. And I'm not trying to hate on the past. I'm just trying to be honest about what we've seen as fans. And if you're honest, you know it's the case. We have never had a Jamar Chan. level wide receiver on this football team. And that's why losing A.J. Brown is so hurtful to this day to a lot of Titans fans because we finally had that dog, a top five dog, the wide receiver type that we've never had because the Titans have been
Starting point is 00:04:42 ground and pound offenses. So if it could be Cam with Cornell Tate, and that's what we can learn. The Titans can't win the Super Bowl in 2030 this year. They can't make it to the Super Bowl in 2030 this year. But if Cam is good, takes his game to another level with better coaching, better support system around him. If Sala proves, hey, I can get these guys going in the right direction.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Titans double their win total. Some of the young players take steps forward, which all of it would have to happen together, right? Now, the Titans still have work to do, of course, even if all of that happens. If Cam takes a step forward, Sala proves he was the right higher, young players take a step forward. They're still not good enough with that happening.
Starting point is 00:05:33 They need to add in multiple off seasons that would happen between now and 2030. This coming draft, they're going to be able to have an opportunity at a great edge rusher, offensive tackle, or another dominant wide receiver. You add more premium positions. You're going to need those. I still think the Titans need an alpha edge rusher. I still think they need their long-term left tackle. I am still of the thought that if an elite wide receiver
Starting point is 00:06:07 in next year's class is there, you take them and shift Parnell Tate to a high level number two and that would be the best way to maximize Carnell Tate's potential is this a high level number two, like a T. Higgins situation, Devante Smith with the Eagles situation, you know, something like that set up, that, you know, give Cam to excellent wide receivers. and maximize him. Like I think that's a great path forward that has to be considered.
Starting point is 00:06:33 The Titans shouldn't be out of the wide receiver business because they have Carnell Tate now. I still think there's more work to do. And if, you know, Cam Coleman or Jeremiah Smith is available or something like that, like you're not going to not take them because we drafted Carnel Tate this year. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:06:50 So I'm still in for that. But they have more work to do. But the path is clear. And if they can build all, of the depth spots and hit all the non-premium spots and get them all good to go and then use their high-end capital to bang bang bang hit those and you got to hit on picks that's how you win super bowls as you hit on draft picks so yeah is it not likely sure it's not likely that the titans are going to within the next four years turn into a super bowl contender but the path is
Starting point is 00:07:20 pretty clear cam hits solid is the right higher young players advanced this year the titans win six or seven games, maybe eight, prove that they're a team on the rise. You hit with your first round draft pick next year when you get a top 13 pick and you get a really good player and a great draft at one of your premium positions. You let Borgonzi go to work in the next couple of years. And like, that's what we have to be hoping for right now. If you're a Tennessee Titans fan right now, that is the timeline.
Starting point is 00:07:54 2028, 2009, you have a legit Super Bowl contending team led by Cam Ward in his prime at the end of his rookie contract like we're going to go to war, we're going to pay him, and we're going to go to war for the next five years
Starting point is 00:08:10 as a real contender led by this dude. That is the path. That is the maximum outcome. The last couple of years of Cam Ward's rookie deal, you know, there's the first five years, and then the second five years, the decade, the CAM decade, that's what you're hoping for.
Starting point is 00:08:30 And that could lead you to true contention in 2030. Will it take miracles, quite honestly? Yes, it will. It will take some miracles. But they happen in the NFL. It happens. So we're going to learn this year, can CAM take the step forward?
Starting point is 00:08:47 Was solid the right higher? Do any of the young players step up? That's a big part of the conversation on tonight's, on Titans podcast, where I talk about second year step-up players and what we need to see from each of the second-year players going into the OTAs this week. But again, that's the path forward. And with the new stadium, all of that happening, you get the culture going. The fans get more excited.
Starting point is 00:09:14 The city gets more excited. It leads to a home Super Bowl, and the Titans are going to win that game. It would be time. It would just be time. So let's just dream for an afternoon. Can we just close our eyes and dream for a little bit? Just saying, that's what they have to do, and that's what it would look like. But controversy, the Titans, changing things up with their media team,
Starting point is 00:09:41 and apparently not everybody's happy about it. Do you want to let you know that today's episode is brought to you by Indeed. Starting point is 00:12:08 Again, we talked about Nashville getting the Super Bowl in 2030, what the Titans have to do to get there, what we can learn this season. but now I want to talk about this other Titans topic. You know, I've seen a lot of people kind of going crazy about this. It's a big deal locally, of course. The Tennessee Titans have had a lot of changes as of late. That doesn't just mean in the front office with the roster, with the jerseys, all of that.
Starting point is 00:12:33 There have been a lot of changes inside the building. Okay? Think about Chad Brinker's exit, Sarah Bailey being ousted as the analytics head, all the promotions that have been happening late. there were 17, like, you know, moves, promotions, transfers, people move in departments, this and that, that happened as of late. There's been a lot of change, and more change is coming. Mike Keith stepped down.
Starting point is 00:12:59 RIP, Dave McGinnis, coach Mack passed away. He was obviously doing radio stuff for the Titans or doing the broadcasting for the Titans. So just a lot of change is necessary or has been happening. and Ramone Foster, who I believe works for 104,5, the zone. He has been on this program before. I've met Ramon in person. He's a nice guy. He's always been very, very friendly.
Starting point is 00:13:25 Well, he's been named as the color analyst, the commentator. You know, you have the play-by-play and then the color analyst. That's the terms for those positions in the booth. Well, as the analyst, Ramon Foster, some people have pointed out, isn't really a Titan. He was a Tennessee Valve, but he was a Steelers guy. And there's nobody in the booth
Starting point is 00:13:49 who's just a pure Titans guy. You know what I mean? And some fans locally are upset about that. I just want to say this about the whole situation. And to add on to that, Amy Wells leaving the team. I mean, what a staple. Good luck.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Moving forward. Just so much change from like, you know, Mike Keith, coach Mac, Amy, just these people who have been voices inside the organization for the organization for so long, and it's all going to feel so different soon. And with the jerseys changing and the color palette changing, the new stadium's going to open next season. Like, it's just, it's going to be hard to recognize the team that you've been following for a long time.
Starting point is 00:14:31 And it's probably for the good. You know what I mean? It's probably for the better. That kind of branches back into the Ramon Foster thing as the analyst. I am not local. I'm not from Nashville. Some people who listen to my show maybe don't realize that.
Starting point is 00:14:48 They haven't heard me talk about it before. It's something that people still ask. I'm not there. So like I don't see the local broadcast or listen to the local radio station. So these sorts of things just do not really affect my intake of the team. It's just not something that impacts my fan
Starting point is 00:15:05 dumb in any way. You know, so I don't care. And I think Ramon is a very good guy. He's smart. knowledgeable about the game, I think he'll do a good job. So it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Congratulations, you know, like, whatever. But I understand that if you're a fan and you are local,
Starting point is 00:15:28 that having people who aren't like titans in their soul, you know, it feels different. Because I think part of the reason that I have success on this show is because a lot of people who cover the team, or talk about the team are not actually Titans fans. And at the end of the day, you know, at least for me personally, when I like content, I want someone who's knowledgeable about my team, but actually is a fan of the team and passionately cares in their soul
Starting point is 00:15:55 about how they win and how they lose and how the games go. And there's just a lot of people covering the Titans right now who it's their job. It's not the team that they actually love. And I think you can tell. I think fans today can tell. and you want somebody who's as passionate about your team as you are talking about the team. So it doesn't impact me. So I don't really care and I don't dislike anybody involved.
Starting point is 00:16:24 It's actually the opposite. But I also recognize that if I was somebody local and this did impact my game day enjoyment of my favorite team and I wasn't happy about the decisions, I think you're fair to feel that way. So I'm kind of like an innocent bystander and all these local conversations that happen because it doesn't impact my enjoyment of the team. But I also like recognize these are a big deal for fans who are local in Nashville and care about this stuff and it does impact their enjoyment. And I think you're fair to feel however you want to feel.
Starting point is 00:17:02 So that's kind of my take on it. I know it's been a big talking point for everybody in Titan circles lately, locally. I don't really have strong feelings on the matter. I just recognize that some people do. That's what's been going on again. OTA is happening right now for the Titans. There's an open one on Thursday. We'll be breaking that down later on tonight. I'm going to be talking about the second year players who need to step up
Starting point is 00:17:26 what they're going to be, who they're going to be, I think is one of the biggest talking points that will be following this team not only through the all season and through the summer, but throughout the entire season as well. But that's going to do it for today's bonus edition of Locked on Titans. I am your host, Tyler Rowland. And again, as I just told you. This was Locked on Titans.
