Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans MUST TRADE Will Levis, Biggest Remaining Roster Needs & Starting O-Line Settled

Episode Date: May 5, 2025

The Tennessee Titans have complete the two biggest acquisition events of the offseason and that means any roster moves would simply be finishing touches, so what are the Titans biggest remaining roste...r questions? First, you have to consider trades and Will Levis tops the list, but we need to examine some other names that make sense like Chig Okonkwo and Roger McCreary. Next, what are the biggest remaining needs? Clearly, the Titans need help at wide receiver, but they could also use a veteran at linebacker. Finally, once you go through the questions, you start to see answers and there are some positions, like the starting offensive line, where the Titans are settled.  Subscribe to the TicTacTitans Film Channel:https://www.youtube.com/@TicTacTitans TicTacTitans Merchandise: https://dixons-dream.square.site/shop/tictactitans-gear/C3AAPNWXSXA6SBYG3USV2I7R?page=1&limit=30&sort_by=category_order&sort_order=asc Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitans Follow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPod Subscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnTitans/videos Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!UpworkVisit Upwork.com right now and post your job for free to connect with top talent and grow your business today! Skylight CalendarRight now, Skylight is offering our listeners $30 off their 15 inch Calendars by going to Skylightcal.com/NFL. Amazon Fire TV Stick 4kDid you know your Fire TV is also an Xbox? Starting point is 00:00:00 Now that the Tennessee Titans are halfway through the all season, what moves do they need to make next? Well first, they must trade Will Levis. That and more on today's edition of Locked on Titans. Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked On Podcast Network. Your team, every day. Welcome to the Locked On Titans podcast. I am your host, Tyler Rowland, Titans fans. On today's show, we're going to take a look at the biggest remaining questions for the Tennessee Titans roster. What trades do they need to make? I'll tell you who the Titans could trade away, who they could potentially trade for. We'll talk about the biggest needs remaining on this roster and outside of the questions, we'll talk about the answers that the Tennessee Titans have right now and what spots are settled heading into off season activities. Before we dive
Starting point is 00:01:02 into all of that, do want to thank you for making locked on Titans your first listen each and every day. Remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round. Always for free. You're not going to beat that anywhere else. Make sure that you get subscribed. Stay subscribed. It's your team every day.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Speaking of every day shout out to my every dayers out there tuning in Monday through Friday, couldn't do it without you guys. If you aren't an everydayer, you need to be one. On tomorrow's show, we're going to look at the biggest roster battles to pay attention to on offense. Then we'll take it the biggest, take a look at the biggest roster battles on defense as well. It might finish out the week with a little bit of a mailbag episode to get some of your guys' questions in. So with all that being said though, we got to dive into today's show and the biggest remaining questions for the Tennessee Titans roster right now. And I think the number one thing for me is who could potentially be traded away.
Starting point is 00:01:58 The Tennessee Titans found a way to make moves before the draft. Remember they traded away Kenneth Murray back at the deadline. They traded away. Ernest Jones and the Andre Hopkins to get more picks. This team has said repeatedly throughout the all season. They are a draft and develop team and getting more draft picks and stacking the cupboards with picks throughout the next couple of years is what the Tennessee Titans should be doing. And remember, they said they wanted, you know, top 100 picks and that's the best currency, of course.
Starting point is 00:02:32 But if you could stack day three picks, you still have the potential to move around, combine those picks together. So I think looking at players that could be traded for the Titans to collect additional capital is where we start. And obviously it's Will Levis. And look, as I have talked enough about Will Levis in the last week or so, when we've talked about, you know, the QB competition with air quotes, I put the snap counts, all of that. And look at the end of the day, I've continued to say, I don't buy what the Tennessee Titans are selling right now about a fair competition and competitions best for our roster.
Starting point is 00:03:10 And, but I don't buy what they're selling when it comes to quarterback. I think that they're trying to make sure that Will Leves is value, whatever it happens to be remains where that doesn't go down and you just don't want to treat Will Levis poorly. Okay. You don't want to treat him like crap. That's just not good business. So to me, with me not buying it, with me understanding that you should treat Will Levis properly, treat players, right? I still think that Will Levis has to be traded. He has to be traded.
Starting point is 00:03:47 He cannot be on this roster week one. Look, if the Titans want to hold him through camp, wait for an injury to happen, something like that, then great. I'm fine with that. Whatever they have to do to extract value, but week one comes. Will Levis cannot be on this roster. He can't be. Whether they cut him, whether they, I want the trade, obviously. I'd take a seventh round pick in 2028 for Will Levis.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I don't care. Hopefully they get a better trade than that, but I would take anything. But Will Levis cannot be on this roster. We want it sends such a mixed signal. It sends such a bad message to the locker room to have both those guys around it. Create so much drama, so much awkwardness. There's political aspects to the locker room, not actual American politics, Republican Democrat like politics, you know, of being in a workplace.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Anybody who's an adult, even if you've been to high school, you understand the politics of you getting a tussle with this person. Next thing you know, you upset this person. You date this person. You're going to make this person mad. Certain teachers or more of this. It's like, it's, it's a part of being a human. The human aspect of having Will Levis still in the locker room with Kim Ward. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:04:58 That is a detriment to this football team. It makes no sense from an organizational standpoint and the path that you want to chart out in the future. Like the Bengals didn't keep Andy Dalton around when they went and got Joe Burrow. So like the Bears did not keep Justin Fields around when they went and got Caleb Williams. It just doesn't make any sense. They're not going to do that. They can't do that. So Will Levis to me is the biggest trade option, obviously, but Traylon Burks is another guy who you look at the Titans numbers at wide receiver and while the talent isn't super
Starting point is 00:05:35 high, the numbers have gotten kind of high. And it is interesting to discuss who actually might get those wide receiver spots. And we're going to talk about those roster things and zoom in on specific positions in that way on tomorrow's show but Traylen Burks like Will Levis if you can get any sort of value to move off of him I would cut Traylen Burks if I'm the Titans and it gets to 53 man roster time. I would rather have Xavier Restrepo, El Hicayo Manor, Chim Dike, Bryce Oliver, Vance Joseph, that's so funny, Van Jefferson, Tyler Lockett. Like I would have any of those guys over Traylen Burks. I'm not giving Traylen Burks another chance to burn a roster spot. So if I can trade him at cut down day for us a future seventh round
Starting point is 00:06:27 conditional pick based on snaps, I'll do it because if I'm the Titans, it's not like you're going to lose additional money to cut Traylen Burke's. It's four and a half million. No matter which way you slice it. It's a sunken cost. So move on. Now some guys who I think are very interesting trade possibilities are Roger McCreary and Chigga Conqua. Both of those guys were on the last year of their contract. Their former Titans regime guys.
Starting point is 00:06:58 All right. They're John Robinson guys. You add Gunnar Helm they add Jarvis Brownlee jr. You add Marcus Harris I'm just looking at those spots and I'm saying are the Titans going to give like why would you pay Chigga Conquo eight million dollars a season when you could go out and draft the tight end in the fourth round again. Like is Chigga Conqua really a good enough player where he's worth $7 million a year more than a guy that Titans might draft in the third or fourth round. Like if you had to pay Gunnar Helm $750,000 on a rookie contract or you know $800,000 on a rookie contract, would you rather $800,000 on a rookie contract. Would you rather pay Gunnar Helm that for the next four years, or would you rather pay Chigga Conquo $30 million for the next four years?
Starting point is 00:07:52 Let's all be honest here. We like our players, but if the Titans could trade away one of the tight ends, Chigga Conquo or Josh Wiley, preferably Josh Wiley, of course, because him and Gunnar Helm skill set overlap a little bit in my opinion, they know they can't count on Wiley, preferably Josh Wiley, of course, because him and Gunnar Helm skill set overlap a little bit in my opinion. They know they can't count on Wiley. They need better. I would rather get rid of Wiley, but if the Titans got rid of one or one of Chig or Wiley, I would not be shocked.
Starting point is 00:08:16 And with Chig Aconquo being the guy who's on the last year of his contract, another team may want to take a look at him as a playmaker and decide what they want to do going forward was in a different position But the Tennessee Titans at this point should not be resigning Chigga Conquo and with that in mind He's automatically a trade candidate and same thing with Roger McCreary last year of his contract Are you gonna pay Roger slot cornerback prices have gone up recently? So I'm thinking Roger McCreary might be around the same cost. He might be eight, nine million dollars per season. Are you going to pay Roger McCreary four years?
Starting point is 00:08:49 40 million or three years? 34 million something like that. Are you going to do three? It would be like three years. 24 million three years. 26 million something like that. Listen, I'm an athlete, not an athlete guys. But my point is, is Roger McCreary really a guy that you want to pay that kind of money? Or would you rather just move Jarvis Brownlee Jr. into the slot and continue to draft cornerbacks?
Starting point is 00:09:16 You know, like with where the Titans are at as a rebuilding team, does it actually make sense to pay some of these mid-level starting guys? It really doesn't. It really doesn't make a lot of sense. So if that's the case, then you could get a third or a fourth round pick back for a guy like Chig or Roger McCreary. I think you at least consider it, especially, you know, the we get into the season trade deadline time, depending on how the season's going. You got to mention three more defensive veterans, Arden Key, Jeffrey Simmons, Amani Hooker, but I think those guys are more middle of the season if things are going very bad for the Titans, but
Starting point is 00:09:50 Keep an open mind, but I do think Will Leves, Traylen Burks, McCreary, and Chig are guys to really keep an eye on as we move forward into the summer Today's episode is brought to you by FanDuel Sportsbook. Let's continue today's edition of the locked on Titans podcast.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Talked about some potential trade options for the Tennessee Titans. I think we'll let this must be moved. I've talked about that, but again, Roger McCreary, Chigga Conquo. Those are names that not a lot of people are talking about that again, last year of their contracts, this is a rebuilding team. Are you going to pay them next off season? I don't think that you should. So with that, if you can get value early on, I think you take that chance.
Starting point is 00:11:57 I think you look to develop younger players. You give more reps to Gunnar Helm and David Martin Robinson. You give more reps to Marcus Harris and Jarvis Brownlee, Jr like I think and Also, let me talk about this as we get into needs here. So What are the Tennessee Titans biggest needs now remaining on the team what's left? Obviously for me you have to start at wide receiver wide receiver is a place where the Titans may not need depth They may not need depth at wide receiver. They have a ton of bodies again Calvin and
Starting point is 00:12:38 Burks and Jefferson and IO manner and DK and Prochet who's a guy always always forget james proche and jaquan and brice oliver and now you add in zavier rastrepo like the titans have eight or nine guys at wide receiver on top of the you know the previous guys like a mason-kensy type guy So the Titans have so many numbers at corner or at wide receiver right now what they're really missing is talent That's what the Titans don't have at cornerback is talent
Starting point is 00:13:16 So if the Titans wanted to add talent at wide receiver, maybe they would consider a trade for someone else's play Maybe they would consider a trade for someone else's play. Look, I don't think that this guy is a fit with the culture. So there's no way. There's no way. I'm sorry that it would happen, but George Pickens is available. A guy who I think does fit the culture is a hard worker and a good guy is Brandon Iute. He's reportedly on the outs.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Would the Titans get back in that discussion? Maybe on the lower end. Gabe Davis seems to be on the outs. Would the Titans get back in that discussion? Maybe on the lower end, Gabe Davis seems to be on the outs in Jacksonville. They never mentioned him anymore in Jacksonville. They went out and made a trade. They grabbed Travis Hunter. You already have Brian Thomas Jr. Of course, like maybe that's a possibility. I'm just saying the Titans don't just need depth. So I could go over, you know, free agent options and look, Amari Cooper is still out there. Keenan Allen is still out there, but the Titans went and got Tyler Lockett, who I didn't even mention when I was going over names earlier.
Starting point is 00:14:17 The Titans have so many wide receivers, but it's high end talent at wide receiver that they actually need because they have like one wide receiver, two in Calvin Ridley. And then like eight wide receiver force. So it's talent at the top. If the Titans could make a trade for somebody, maybe it would make sense. But again, I don't see them doing that. They're a rebuilding team, but the need is the need. And we can talk about depth all we want, but the reality is it's
Starting point is 00:14:44 talent at wide receiver. The Titans are missing and I don't think there was any way that they're going to be able to acquire that without some sort of big veteran trade. And at the end of the day, again, I just don't think that the Tennessee Titans are going to look to do that. Now another spot where I think the Tennessee Titans still have a need is offensive line depth. Now they added a bunch of people they do,
Starting point is 00:15:06 but the Titans are number one in the waiver claim until the season begins. So if there are teams that have more offensive line depth than the Titans and they get rid of players, they cut players, they wave players, roster cut downs. I'm perfectly fine with the Titans adding more depth. They've added Jackson Slater. They had brought back Corey Levin. They did the three man weave with with Jamie's and Udo and
Starting point is 00:15:31 Mustapher like they brought in those veterans. They've done a lot, but I would still turn the offensive line depth I wouldn't say that hey, we're set on the offensive line with the backups and we're not gonna make any changes at all I would not approach it that way, but I admit. And you know, the offensive line depth isn't as big of a concern as some of these other needs like interior defensive line, interior defensive line is a huge need again. I harped on it last year. They got Sebastian Joseph day back.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Love that you have sweat and Simmons love that I do. Draymont Jones can play a little bit of interior, you know, um, especially in passing situations, but outside of that, again, I do not like the Tennessee Titans depth on the interior defensive line. You have Keon Drake, Hobart back who had some decent moments last year, admittedly, but in my opinion serves more value to the team as a mentor for Tavandre Sweat because they were college teammates and their lockers are right next to each other. Keandre Coburn was even mentioned when the Titans drafted Tavandre Sweat a year ago. He was even mentioned as a guy who
Starting point is 00:16:42 should be a positive impact on Tavandre Sweat as he kind of You know get settled in the nfl. So Keandre Coburn is a direct backup to Tevandre Sweat Sure, sure, but after that Name a titans interior defensive lineman after that you could do the starters and sjd sweat simmons You could do the starters and SJD, Slet, Simmons, smart Titans fans. Probably, I don't want to say smart, maybe just more tapped in Titans fans, more diehard Titans fans, casual diehard, die easy, all that. Maybe no Keandre Coburn, but I would imagine that a lot of people watching the show right now, you couldn't think of Keandre Coburn off the top of your head.
Starting point is 00:17:22 And honestly, I don't intend to shame you for that. That's how bad the Tennessee Titans interior defensive line backups are. Abdullah Anderson. And then after Abdullah Anderson and Keon Dre Coburn, who are guys that were with the team last year. It's four undrafted free agents. Cam Horsley, uh, Philip Bleedy. Blighty.
Starting point is 00:17:44 I don't know. Isaiah Reikes, Devante O'Malley. Like, what are we doing here? What are we doing here? That is bad debt. Last year I kicked and screamed and cried about the Titans back up interior defensive lineman and everyone told me it was fine. And then the Titans were terrible against the run in certain points
Starting point is 00:18:07 throughout the year because they had terrible depth on the interior defensive line. I just wish people would take certain things as serious as I take them. But regardless of that. It's not the only need, but interior defensive line is a big time need. Some other needs a veteran linebacker. So I think that what the Titans should do, what the Tennessee Titans should do is they should just have Cody Barton as a starter and then let one of these young linebackers ascend, whether it be Otis Reese, whether it be Cedric Gray, whether it be James Williams, one of these young linebackers
Starting point is 00:18:45 need to step up and take that spot. Maybe David Genba or Benda or Gabenda or I don't know. I'll look it up. But the undrafted free agent linebacker out of Texas, maybe he's a guy who steps up and takes the spot. I would let a young linebacker take that spot, but the Titans don't always do what I think they should do. They do what they want to do. And sometimes that's a great thing. Let's sometimes they have better ideas than I do. Okay. So why they're getting paid more money than I am to talk about
Starting point is 00:19:15 those ideas. But CJ Mosley is still out there. And I think Mosley while being at the end of his career, it's still a valuable play. So CJ Mosley next to Cody Barton, if the Titans, if those three young linebackers or four young linebackers really just suck it up over the summer and into camp, veteran linebacker is a spot where I think you could say the Titans still have a need. We don't know that any of those young linebackers are going to step up and be quality enough. When those guys had to play last year, we talked about the run defense, when those guys had to play last year, it was a disaster in run defense. So if that's what it looks like in camp, if that's what it looks like in the joint practices
Starting point is 00:20:04 that the Titans are going to do during the preseason, they better go out and get a veteran linebacker. And CJ Mosley would be at the top of my list, but I would imagine that Mosley might get swooped up before the Titans get to the point where they feel comfortable with saying, okay, we need to get somebody in here. The last thing I want to mention here is cornerback. And I'm going to pair it with the idea that I just had about trading Roger McCreary. If the Titans were to trade Roger McCreary,
Starting point is 00:20:29 they could go out and get a veteran cornerback. There are quite a few veteran cornerbacks that are available, like Asante Samuel Jr., Mike Hilton. Mike Hilton, I cannot believe that Mike Hilton, Mike Hilton. I cannot believe that Mike Hilton is still a free agent. One of the best slot cornerbacks in the NFL, super physical can blitz, play against the run, had great years for Cincinnati when they were, you know, having their early 2020s run there.
Starting point is 00:21:00 He was an excellent part of their defense played great against the Tennessee Titans in that playoff game game. He was an excellent part of their defense played great against the Tennessee Titans in that playoff game game. He was awesome He might have had that interception on the bubble screen What a stupid play called Todd Downing. What a moron. Go God, they were on the goal line through a frickin wide receiver screen right to the oh God you guys are bozos anyways, man, ah Still makes me so so mad. But anyways, my point is maybe you trade Roger McCreary and
Starting point is 00:21:36 you sign Mike Hilton and Then you get a pick and you get a veteran. That's probably just as good as Roger. Maybe not in coverage, but like and you get a veteran that's probably just as good as Roger, maybe not in coverage, but like, maybe you go get a Sante Samuel Jr. and you move Jarvis Brownlee Jr. into the slot where he said when he was drafted, that's where he's most comfortable and where he wants to play. Maybe that's a move that you make. So I'm just saying, let's consider these things. That's the trades I would look at. That's the biggest needs. Now let's talk about some places where the Titans really are kind of settled on the roster. They're in a pretty decent spot.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Today's episode is brought to you by Skylight Calendar. Say goodbye to sticky notes, scribbled plans on the fridge, and overlapping calendar invites. So you know who's who. This sort of device has really revolutionized my home life. Personally, I love the skylight calendar right now. Skylight is offering our listeners $30 off of their 15 inch calendars by
Starting point is 00:23:14 going to skylightcow.com slash NFL. That's skylightcow.com slash NFL for $30 off your 15 inch calendar. I have one, my sister has one. Again, that is S-K-Y-L-I-G-H-T-C-A-L.com slash NFL. Titans fans, let's cap off today's edition of the locked on Titans podcast. We are talking about the biggest remaining questions for the Tennessee Titans. Now that we are basically halfway through the off season. I mean, I know it's not timing wise halfway, but we've gone through free agency.
Starting point is 00:24:08 We've gone through the draft. Like the Titans roster is basically what the Titans roster is with a little bit of churn and potentially some trade moves. So trades, needs. Now let's talk about where I think things are settled. Before we get into it, once again, thanks for making Locked on Titans
Starting point is 00:24:24 your first listen each and every day. Again, it's your team every day here on the locked on Titans podcast, but quarterbacks think even with the Levis trade, even if Levis is traded, that brings some uncertainty that brings up you have cam, you have Brandon Allen, you have Tim Boyle. Is that the most inspiring group of quarterbacks of all time? No. You have Cam, you have Brandon Allen, you have Tim Boyle. Is that the most inspiring group of quarterbacks of all time? No.
Starting point is 00:24:50 But again, remember, Brandon Allen was with Joe Burrow when Burrow was a young player and helped teach the offense and support him and teach him how to use the film. And that's what Brandon Allen is going to do for Cam Ward. And then Tim Boyle is a guy with a Little bit more physical talent than a guy like Brandon Allen a little younger But is a guy who's been pretty stinky when he's when he's played If we're honest with with ourselves here, so I know it's not the most inspiring group, but it's all about cam ward guys That's what matters most is cam ward, get cam ward ready. So anybody who's in the quarterback room, in my opinion, their soul goal in
Starting point is 00:25:29 their mind needs to be, I am here to get cam ward ready to be an NFL quarterback. That's my job. I'm being paid to be an arm. To operate and to be a mentor. That is what I'm being paid for not to be the greatest on field player that I can possibly be. So I think the quarterback room is set for the Titans, even if they move Levis out, which they should.
Starting point is 00:25:53 The running back group said, I don't think the Titans need to now if they want to churn and get some better special teams players, then great. But the reality for me is Tony Pollard, Tajay Spears, Superman Mullings, Julius Chestnut, let's ride. I mean, maybe a guy like Jabari Small, who was an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee last year, maybe because he's more of a, a jitterbug style player than Julius Chestnut. He fits better to pair off of Superman Mullings skill set. They brought in Micah Bernard as an undrafted free agent, but for me, you take that top four Pollard Spears Chestnut Mullings,
Starting point is 00:26:32 let's ride. Like I'm good with that. Don't really need to worry about running back all that much. Tight end. You got Gunner Helm. If you don't make any moves, you have Chig, you have Wiley. Remember, the Titans kept five tight ends last year because they kept David Martin Robinson and Thomas Odecoye, even though they barely played at the beginning of the season because they wanted to develop them. Well, now it's time for them to be good enough to be on the roster and actually play. And if they're not, then they better be off the roster. So the Titans have five guys at tight end right now. And it's like, that's enough. Pick three out of those five guys. You know if they aren't good enough then get rid of a bunch of them and bring in two new ones. But like you have enough right now to not have to worry
Starting point is 00:27:16 about that so much. The starting offensive line look I'm good with churning offensive line depth but the starting offensive line is set. Dan Moore at left tackle, Peter Skoronski at left guard, Lloyd Cushinberry at center, Kevin Zeitler at right guard, J.C. Lethem at right tackle. The offensive line is set. Now will Cushinberry be back in time? They're saying he's supposed to be ready around June, so he should be ready for training camp, but if he's ready for training camp then awesome, but that is something to keep an eye on but for the time being we'll assume that what they've told us in the timeline is correct and we're good to go there. Edge is pretty much set in my opinion like Edge is like wide receiver to me.
Starting point is 00:27:57 The Titans could use Edge talent you know they need a great edge rusher. They don't have it but numbers wise Arden key Lorenzo Carter Draymond Jones Femi Oladejo Allie gay Jaylen harrell couple undrafted free agents like It's like wide receiver. Yeah, they need like a starting edge rusher right now. They don't have that Carter Jones Femi gay harrell even Arden Key in my opinion are all backup edge rushers. They're not starting edge rushers. So where are you going to get one? You know, like you're not going to get one right now. So they can turn the bottom of that Allie Gay, Jaylen Harrell, the undrafted free agents. You can, I wouldn't even mind if they turned like a Lorenzo Carterter or whatever but you could turn that
