Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans OFFENSIVE LINE CONFUSION: Dan Moore, JC Latham are STARTING & Finding Right Guard

Episode Date: February 20, 2026

The Tennessee Titans offensive line seems to be a big spot of confusion within the fan base as many seem set on the Titans using free agency or the draft to get upgrade, but the reality is that will n...ot be happening. Especially at offensive tackle, where Dan Moore and JC Latham will be your starters in 2026. Yes, the Titans OL was not great for most of last year, but improvements after the bye week show they are fully capable of being, at minimum, a mid-tier OL. The right guard spot will need a new face as it is the only open spot, but that will likely be the only change. Cam Ward and the wide receivers also need to do their part to limit the sacks. In 2027, yes, the Titans should look to make some upgrades with high level assets or potentially move people around, but that won't be happening in 2026. Fans need to accept that.   LOCKED ON TITANS EVERYDAY CLUB: https://lockedontitans.supercast.com/   Subscribe to the TicTacTitans Film Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TicTacTitans   TicTacTitans Merchandise: https://dixons-dream.square.site/shop/tictactitans-gear/C3AAPNWXSXA6SBYG3USV2I7R?page=1&limit=30&sort_by=category_order&sort_order=asc   Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitans   Follow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPod   Subscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnTitans/videos     Everydayer ClubIf you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. I'm gonna talk about the confusion with the Tennessee Titans offensive line because it seems like some Titans fans think the O line is way worse than they actually are. I'm gonna talk about what the offensive line actually needs this all season and what we should be looking at the O line in terms of the future. Before we dive into all of it, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans,
Starting point is 00:01:10 your first listen each and every day. Remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round, always for free. Starting point is 00:01:27 The Combine is next week, free agency right around the corner. The draft right after that. If you want to stay as up to date, as entertained, and as informed as a Tennessee Titans fan could possibly be, make sure that you stay locked in with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world. Locked on Titans. But with that being said, again,
Starting point is 00:01:44 I see a lot of confusion about the Tennessee Titans offensive line within the Tennessee Titans fan base. And it kind of crystallized for me yesterday when I did the biggest need show. And I had offensive tackle as the second least need for the Tennessee Titans and the reaction to that from some people was, You know, obviously there are reactions that are way overboard, calling me names, this and that, blah, blah, blah. But, you know, there are some more reasonable people who still didn't quite understand
Starting point is 00:02:10 how offensive tackle specifically could be so far down the list. And I guess I just want to make this as clear as I possibly can. The Tennessee Titans' offensive line was nowhere near as bad as the numbers may seem, and as some of you guys may think. Yes, the Titans gave up 55, 55 sacks last year. That is a bad number. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that that is acceptable. But some of the realities of the offensive lines numbers
Starting point is 00:02:36 go back to the quarterbacks, go back to the wide receivers, and go back to coaching. There are a lot of high-level people in the NFL, former quarterbacks, former offensive linemen, former coaches, media people that I respect to will all tell you. Sacks are an offensive stat, not an offensive line stat. And again, I will continue to hammer home this point. The sacks went down in the box.
Starting point is 00:03:01 back half of the season because the offensive line played better, but also Cam Ward played better. One thing that people just don't want to accept because they don't like criticizing Cam is Cam Ward caused a lot of those sacks in the first half of the year for the Titans offensive line. I had eight sacks from the Titans offensive line that were Cam Ward's fault. And you could say he could have got some more passes off on time. He could have thrown... there's one sack where Cam Ward could have literally just thrown the ball out of bounds and instead he steps out of bounds two yards short of the line of scrimmage and it's a sack but that's Cam Ward's fault that sack is on
Starting point is 00:03:39 Cam Ward and I showed that in my Cam Ward film breakdown that I did on the Ticktack Titans YouTube channel also even more than Cam Ward the inability for wide receivers to get open we all talk about how much the Tennessee Titans need wide receiver help and we talk about it through the lens of Cam Ward needs help well you know who else needs help the all Offensive line because there were plenty of times throughout the year where the offensive line gave Cam Ward a clean pocket They held the defensive pass rush, but there was no one to throw to and it turns into a sack because there's simply nowhere to go with the football and there's nothing that Cam Ward can do He can't escape and run around like Mike Vic all the time
Starting point is 00:04:19 That's not a realistic option. So I think that there is confusion with the offensive line because anytime that some people anytime they see the quarterback get sacked they go bad job offensive line oh the quarterback got sacked that had to be a bad job by the O line the O line sucks that got they're all terrible right but that's just not the reality of football
Starting point is 00:04:40 in football it's so much of a team game so I will continue to say that Cam Ward was responsible for 20% of those sacks nearly 20% the wide receivers not being able to get open even when there is a clean pocket
Starting point is 00:04:54 to throw from is responsible for another 8 to 10 sacks right there and another reality is we talk about the upgrade in coaching Brian Callahan was not helping out the offensive line by scheming wide receivers open by giving Cam Ward good answers Do you know how many times the Titans ran a concept with our wide receivers that is meant to beat cover three meant to be cover two meant to be cover four and the defense didn't even run that coverage so Brian Callahan is literally getting outsmarted by the defense coach, he's calling a concept that's specifically meant to beat this coverage and they didn't get that coverage. And there's nowhere to go with the football. So it's not only Cam Ward got better
Starting point is 00:05:36 and took less sacks and helped his offensive line. It's not only that the wide receivers couldn't get open. It's that the coaching was not creating opportunities for the players, which made the offensive line look bad. Now, if we want to go through each individual player here and talk about where they're at, I'm certainly willing to do that. And we need to talk about When do the Titans need to consider some upgrades specifically at offensive tackle? We're going to dive into that right now. Before we do, do want to let you guys know that today's episode is brought to you by Fan, Duel, Sportsbook. Ever wanted to experience the NBA Finals live and in person?

My number one pick is always going to be the grape flavor. You get the Concord grape flavor similar to like grape juice or candy. It's a soft, rounded sweetness, smooth. It's almost syrup-like in the fruit profile.
Starting point is 00:07:43 It's consistent. It's straightforward taste. It's got that classic purple candy style finish. And if I were looking for a little bit of a sleeper, I'd go with peach mango. A balanced tropical blend. It's sweet. It's got an aromatic finish. Slightly richer mouthfield and some of the citrus flavors.
Starting point is 00:07:58 I absolutely love them. So make sure that you find the new flavors of five-hour energy shots that you love. They're available online right now at five-hour energy. That's the number five-hour energy.com or on Amazon. Fans, let's continue today's bonus edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast. Talking about the confusion with the Titans offensive line. A lot of people out there just think the offensive line is absolutely terrible. They got to use a first-round pick on a tackle.
Starting point is 00:08:41 They got to spend big and free agency on the offensive. offensive line and it's just not a reality. And if you're somebody that does think this and I can't convince you otherwise, well, prepare for disappointment because the Tennessee Titans are not going to be spending a ton of resources, whether it's free agency or the draft, on the offensive line. We talked about why it's not all on the offensive line, the number of sacks that the Titans had. But now let's go piece by piece. Look, Dan Moore is slightly below average.
Starting point is 00:09:07 I told you that when Dan Moore was signed in free agency. That he would be a guy who would be with the team for two years, and then they would be looking for an upgrade after that. And we're going into year two, and the reality is, Dan Moore is exactly who he thought he was. He's going to get absolutely smoked when he's playing against somebody good. He's going to be able to have his fair share of wins when he's playing against somebody mid,
Starting point is 00:09:30 and if he's playing against a bad pass rusher, he's going to do pretty good. He is a slightly below average starting tackle in the NFL. I would say he's probably somewhere between 35 to 45, if you ranked all the 64 starting right tackles from 1 to 64. Like I would say he's probably in that range. Amongst left tackles, he's probably, you know, 20 to 30 somewhere in there. And that's not great.
Starting point is 00:09:54 And I'm not going to sit here and tell you that that's excellent. But the reality is look at the finances. And I had an interesting interaction with someone on Twitter on Friday where they were like, no, the Titans have to go out and get an offensive tackle. They should bring Jack Conklin back. They should be... And I said, they can't do that. Dan Moore is going to get 20,
Starting point is 00:10:12 million dollars on the salary cap this year and if you were to cut Dan Moore he's gonna cost you 5 million more and the response was oh well I didn't look at the finances and I feel like some of you guys who get in my comments you just have no idea about the financial aspects of what these moves would entail if you cut Dan Moore again you're costing yourself 5 million more dollars that's 31 million dollars of dead cap and what are you gonna do go out and sign another contract like you sign with Dan Moore 20 million dollars a year for somebody and then you got a
Starting point is 00:10:42 a first round pick and a top 10 pick and J.C. Latham, you got Dan Moore making $26 million on the salary cap sitting on the bench and then a new free agent who probably isn't going to be much better than Dan Moore playing at left tackle. Good offensive linemen do not come
Starting point is 00:10:57 available in free agency. Any offensive tackle that the Titans can go out and get in free agency is not going to be a vast improvement over Dan Moore. Okay? You need to accept that reality. All right. So Dan Moore is going be back. He's going to be your starting left tackle and whether you like it or not,
Starting point is 00:11:16 you need to accept that fact. Now, Peter Skoronsky is one of the top five guards in the entire NFL. Peter Skoronsky is incredible. He did a great job last year. Top five in the NFL and pressure rate allowed and I mean that in a good way, not a bad way. You go to center. Lloyd Cushingberry did not have a great beginning of the season, but he played better at the end of the year after he came back from his second injury and it was his first year off a major injury and an Achilles tear. All the Titans have to do is bring back a guy like Corey Levin, and they have Cush is the starter. Cori Levin is an excellent backup at center, and they're pretty solid there. There's no reason to cut Lloyd Cush &berry have $7 million, $9 million in
Starting point is 00:11:57 dead cap, go out and sign Tyler Lindenbaum for $20 million a year. Tyler Lindenbaum was in the bottom five in pressure rate allowed at center last year. Like it's not like he's an all-time center like Kevin Mawai or something like that. Like how much is that going to a lot? improve things. You go to right tackle with J.C. Latham and yes, he had the false start penalties that everybody freaked out about. But the reality is, after the by week, J.C. Latham only gave
Starting point is 00:12:22 up two sacks in eight weeks. He was nails after the biweek, after his hip was actually healed. Yeah, maybe after the season of J.C. Latham struggles in his third year, you might consider moving him to guard in year four to see if you can salvage something out of him. Yes, after this
Starting point is 00:12:38 season, you would look, hey, maybe the Titans do draft a left tackle in the the NFL draft in 2027 to replace Dan Moore. That's certainly a possibility. But the only position that they actually need to get somebody at right now is right guard. They need a starter there. Whether that's Dylan Parham, whether that's Elijah Verit Tucker, whether that's Wyatt
Starting point is 00:12:57 Teller. Maybe they can get Jermaine Illuminaur to move in from right tackle and play right guard, which I don't think that they'll be able to do. But nonetheless, maybe they're able to do it. But right guard is the only spot where the Titans are realistically going to spend in free agency to get an up. and then you have Jackson Slater as a guy who you develop to maybe be your future right guard or your future center. That's what the Titans are going to do on the offensive line.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Bring back Ali Udo who played very well as a backup tackle for J.C. Latham when he was injured. Like the Titans' offensive line doesn't need to be significantly different. They don't need to spend a bunch of resources. They don't need to go into free agency and give a big time deal. They don't need to use a first round pick on the offensive line. And I'm sorry, but the gap between people who, in my opinion, understand what they're seeing and then the gap of people who again just oh there's another sack it was the offensive lines fall there's just a knowledge gap
Starting point is 00:13:50 and how to look at football and the ends and outs of football that I'm trying to respectfully explain to you guys I'm not trying to be rude to people who are like the O line sucks blah blah blah like I'm not trying to be like you don't know football idiot you know what I mean but like at some point I don't know how many different ways that I can phrase things where you're just not seeing the game correctly of every sack that's taken you blame on the offensive line, especially the Titans offense last year, where I've gone through the quarterback, the wide receivers, the coaching, and all the different things that were responsible.
Starting point is 00:14:20 So I'm not here to tell you that the Titans have a great offensive line, but they were 16th in the NFL and pass block win rate. They were top 20, and Pro Football Focus is pass block grade. They were top 20 in ESPN's pass block win rate as a group. They're not a terrible offensive line. And once Luke Stocker got in charge of the run game at the end, of the season, they were able to run the ball pretty well as well. So I just think the conversation around the Tennessee Titans offensive line is totally off base. And there are going to be a lot
Starting point is 00:14:51 of people out there who are incredibly disappointed by the lack of attention paid to the offensive line. But what I'm telling you is you shouldn't be disappointed. But with that being said, that's going to do it for me today, folks. As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
