Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans RECORD PREDICTION: Callahan Survives Slow Start & Finishing the Season STRONG
Episode Date: August 31, 2025The Tennessee Titans have hit GAME WEEK and as they prepare to take on the Denver Broncos, it is the perfect time to look at just how many games the Titans will win this year. Tyler goes game by game ...through the schedule to give his final predictions on what the team does. Starting off with a really slow start to the season that could have Brian Callahan looking for a new job by Thanksgiving, the Titans look ugly early, but find a way to bounce back at the end of the year with some stellar performances and wins. It may not sound great, but 5-12 would be an improvement for this team. I'm gonna go game by game through the schedule tell you how many wins
I think they get different parts of the season how they go
And I'm gonna tell you why I think the Titans do start
slow but ultimately finish strong going into next season before we dive into it do want to thank
you for making Locked on Titans your first listen each and every day remember Monday through
Friday Tennessee Titans content all year round always for free make sure that you get subscribe
stay subscribed it's your team every day speaking of every day shout to my everydayers out
there tuning in Monday through Friday couldn't do it without you guys if you aren't in
every day or now is the perfect time it is game week folks the season is back I'm going to have
you covered with some more predictions the rest of this week. How many yards are Cammore going to
throw for? He's going to win rookie of the year. We're going to discuss all of that. Also,
going to have crossover Thursday, getting you guys ready for the big time matchup, a game preview
on Friday. I'll be live after the game. Tennessee Titans football is back. And if you want to
have the most fun, you can possibly have this season, you need to stay locked in right here with me
unlocked on Titans. But with all that being said again, I think the Tennessee Titans get out to a
rough start this year, but I ultimately think they do finish strong.
Now, this may not sound great, and I understand that, but I have the Tennessee Titans
winning five games this season. I have the Titans going five and 12.
And I get, again, again, again, I know that when you hear that, that does not sound great.
And make no mistake about it, it's not a great season.
But I think the Titans can win five games and just barely show enough progress to get us
going back in the right direction and then set up for a really, really good and competitive
2026 and 2027. I think that's what we have to expect here as incremental improvements from
the Tennessee Titans. Again, this is a very, very young football team with a rookie starting
quarterback with a head coach who is a younger head coach in the NFL who is only going
into his second season and still has a lot to learn. There's so much about this football program right
that's brand new to each other,
then I think the Titans start slow,
but then they gel together mid-season
and they have a great finish to the year.
And I think I continue to point to the Carolina Panthers
from last year,
who ended up with the number eight pick.
I think they went 5 and 12 as well.
Might have been 6 and 11.
But either way, the Panthers were terrible early on.
New head coached, young quarterback.
Things weren't going great.
Now, of course, they benched.
Bryce Young, I don't want that to happen with Cam Ward, of course, there's no Andy Dalton's on this team.
But they found their stride at the end of the year.
They built positive momentum going forward.
Dave Canales feels strong.
People are more excited about Bryce Young.
The Panthers are going in the right direction, the way that they played at the end of the year.
They really battled with the Eagles and the Chiefs and all that.
And I think the Titans can replicate that.
So that is the most optimistic view of the season is that the type of,
Titans finish strong.
Now, if the season doesn't go the way that I think that it might go here and they finish
5 and 12, I think there's a good chance that Brian Callahan is fired.
But if he can survive the rough early start and keep the team bought in and keep the guys listening
to his message and then they finish strong and they all start to kind of believe in themselves
as a young group going forward, I think that could still be a very successful and a very
fun season for all of us.
But it starts out with a loss to Denver.
And I got to tell you guys, spoiler alert for the end of the week.
when I do my game prediction,
I do not think the Titans are going to be very close with Denver.
I don't think it's going to be a super high scoring game,
but I just think Denver is a significantly better football team
with a significantly better coach
with significantly better continuity,
the total opposite of the Tennessee Titans.
So I think Denver is a loss, week one.
Now, I want you guys to play along with me.
Let me know your record predictions for the Titans,
how many wins you think they're going to have this year.
You can go game by game with me on social media
at Ticktack Titans at Lockedon Titans.
anywhere or of course in the comments if you're watching on YouTube but then you go to week two
and you got to play the Los Angeles Rams and again what a very very very difficult first two weeks of the season
you play Denver you got to go across the country you got to play in elevation in a place that historically
in the opening month of the season is one of the most difficult places to play in the NFL because of the elevation
and what it does on your body and you add in the Broncos stuff that we talked about earlier that stuff
and then you come home and you play the Rams?
I think the Rams, if Matthew Stafford is healthy,
which right now appears he's going to be good to go for week one,
but I think the Rams are one of like the top six or eight teams
in the entire NFL when Matthew Stafford is healthy and rolling.
Like they're super, super talented across the board.
And I think even coming home and playing a home game
to go all the way to Denver and play a physical Denver team
that led the NFL in Sacks last year
and then come home and have to play a physical Rams team,
that was one of the best teams in the NFL last year.
That's just a difficult start, man.
So I'm going to have the Titans losing both of those games.
But week three is a must win against the Indianapolis Colts,
and I think the Titans do win that game.
I think the Colts are the worst team in the division this year.
They're going to go 5 and 12 or 4 and 13, in my opinion.
The roster isn't quite as bad as the Titans,
but the quarterback play, I think is going to be worse.
And I don't think that, you know,
Shane Steichen is some incredible coach.
I don't think he's bad,
but I don't think he's good enough to flip Daniel Jones
into a playoff guy again.
I just don't see that happening.
So I think the Titans win at home against Indianapolis.
So they're one and two after three weeks.
I'll be honest with you.
That wouldn't be all that bad.
But I think the next stretch of games
is where things get really, really difficult for the Titans.
So now you've got a three-game roadie.
You go at the Houston Texans,
at the Arizona Cardinals, at the Las Vegas Raiders.
Now, I know Houston isn't significantly west of Nashville.
but that's three straight games
where you've got to go west
you know
and yeah one game to Houston isn't that bad
but now it's followed up with
at Arizona at Vegas
and Brian Callahan already said
that they're not going to stay out west
on this trip they're going to come home
so Houston back Arizona
back Vegas back
that is so much stress on your body
that is so much travel for the Titans
and Arizona was a very competitive
fighting for the playoff team last year.
I think that Vegas is going to be significantly improved
under Pete Carroll, a real NFL head coach
and Gino Smith, a real NFL quarterback.
I think they're going to be a significantly improved team.
I think the Titans lose all three of those games.
They lose at Houston, they lose at Arizona, they lose at Vegas.
Now, I think that if I did different variations
of this prediction,
I would have the Titans, my initial record prediction was like 7 and 10, I believe.
I had the Titans winning one of those two Arizona Vegas games.
Like, if the Titans want to keep their season on track,
they have to come home from the West Coast back to back of Arizona and Vegas.
They have to come home with a win in one of those games.
But I'll be honest with you, I just don't think they get it.
I just don't think that they do.
So we're six weeks into the season,
and unfortunately, I have the Titans at 1 and 5 right now.
and I'll be honest with you, it takes a couple more weeks
before things start getting better.
Do want to let you know that today's episode is brought to you.
By game time, the NFL season is back
and honestly, there's nothing better
than being in the stadium surrounded by the fans,
cheering on your team.
But let's be honest, getting tickets can be a hassle
between the cues and the login screens

But that's why I use game time.

I bought comedy and concert tickets on game time.
Honestly, it's faster, it's cheaper, and it's way less stressful
than other ways that I bought tickets.

Titans fans, let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast,
doing my official record prediction for the Tennessee Titans again.
I have the Titans going 5 and 12 this year.
A very, very slow start to the season.
As we discuss through the first six weeks, I have the Titans at 1 in 5.
Very tough West Coast road trip, three straight games,
two really, really difficult games early on.
but then they get into the middle part of the season
and you know, things don't go well here
in my opinion and this is really what I would call
the Brian Callahan zone.
This is the Brian Callahan zone
where if Brian Callahan's going to get fired
it's going to come in this stretch of games
the next six weeks of games
especially because if the Titans are 1 and 5
and they head to a home game
they come back from three straight games on the road out west
and they come home and they come home
and they play Mike Vrable's New England Patriots.
Now, this was a tough game for me.
Again, this is a moment where if the Titans, as a football team,
if the Titans care about their head coach Brian Callahan,
there's no way they can lose this game.
If the Titans go to 1 and 6 with a home loss to Mike Vrable's Patriots,
that might be tough for Brian Callahan to get out of, folks.
That would be difficult.
It absolutely would.
Now, I have the Titans losing that game.
I think the Patriots and the Titans are close.
But at this time, and I know the reaction to this,
but at this time, there's no way in the world that I can say
that Brian Callahan is a better football coach than Mike Frable.
Can't say that.
Now, that doesn't mean that Mike Vrable should have kept his job in Tennessee,
but what it could mean is,
is the Titans just hired the wrong guy
and they hired the wrong guy
and Ran Carthon
and Rancarthon hired the wrong guy
and Brian Callahan.
That's what I mean when I say that
not that I wish Mike Vrable was still the coach
because I know that, you know,
we all think about the good old days
when the Titans were a better football team
and they were winning and Mike Vrable was the coach
so of course you're going to say, you know,
wish Mike Vrable was back
and he certainly looks like a better coach
than Brian Callahan right now.
But not to relitigate the situation.
but if you were really locked in and paying attention,
you saw the struggles the Titans constantly had on offense,
27th and points or less,
three out of the six years Mike Vrable was here.
You saw the hiring issues with offensive coordinator
and other places on the staff like a Craig Ackerman.
You know, like Mike Vrable had his warts.
So I think that he deserved to be fired,
but it's very possible that the Titans made a mistake
with hiring Brian Callahan.
And I think if Mike Vrable comes in,
and it's ugly, if the Patriots win 35, 13,
and the Titans drop to 1 and 6, Brian Callahan's fired.
The problem is, and we'll talk about this more in a second,
what happens after Brian Callahan is fired,
which is why we'll get to it.
But then the Titans go to Indianapolis after they play New England.
And again, I think this is a must win if the Titans are going to really beat my projection.
If the Titans want to win seven or eight games this year,
they need to win that game against it.
The path of seven or eight wins
includes more wins early on.
It includes winning one of the Vegas and Arizona games
and it includes winning one of the New England
and at Indianapolis games
in week seven and eight.
That's what they have to do.
But I'll be honest with you.
Again, I think they lose to New England.
I just don't think it's an absolute blowout.
If it is a blowout again, it's going to be crazy.
Crazy time.
I think they go to Indianapolis and they split.
Look, I don't think the courts are very good
I don't think their quarterback situation is very good
I think the roster is okay
but I don't think the courts are going to have a very good season
but at the end of the day I don't think that they're significantly
worse than the Titans
so I think it only makes sense that the Titans would split
with Indianapolis
both team taking one
that seems fair to me
then the Titans come home
and they play the Los Angeles Chargers
and I think the Chargers are going to be an awesome team this year
They're way better coached, super physical up front.
I know they have some injuries with Roshan Slater
and their wide receiver group isn't the best ever,
but their run game and they're so well coached, solid on defense.
That's really where I'm looking at the Chargers, though, is their defense.
I think that could maybe not be as good,
but they're going to be so good on offense
and such a well-coached physical, prepared football team.
I just, there's no way Brian Callahan has beaten Jim Harball
in a coached football game
when Jim Harbaal has a much better roster
there's no way man
I just can't buy that so
the Titans go to the bye week here
they get their by week
and at this time
they're 1 and 8
and if they get to the buy week at 1 and 8
it's going to be tough for Brian Callahan
to keep his job
but here's the problem
if you fire Brian Callahan
Bill Callahan probably goes with him.
And how many of these older coaches
who came here to get a job?
You're not wrong about that.
They wanted a job.
You know, it's not like DeNard Wilson
and Brian Callahan are drinking bros
or anything like that, you know what I mean?
But like I think, you know,
like a Frank Bush, for example,
or a tight Tolbert, you know,
older veteran coaches
who Brian Callahan respected and brought in,
I think those guys could be like,
well, I'm out too.
I'm not going to stay
and you know
like how in the world
would Bill Callahan
stay on coaching this football team
after his son was fired
and what they're going to do
promote Bones Fossil
to interim head coach
for the rest of the season
you know like
I think the reality is
Brian Callahan's not going to get fired
during the season
I have them going 1 and 8
into the buy and he's not fired
I don't think the Titans
want to fire Brian Callahan
during the season
they know that the team isn't
great and it's just going to create controversy and it's going to stunt growth of
Cam Ward in the middle of the season. I think that Brian Callahan gets the entire season.
I don't think he's going to get fired during the season. That's where I fall. No matter
really what happens unless it's really, really bad. And there's, you know, like, you never know
controversy and scandal and anything all field. So I'm not going to say like, it's impossible. You
never know what's going to happen in the world. But I really do think the Titans would have to be like,
I mean, oh, and 13 or something for him to get fired during the season.
Like, I just, I don't think the organization wants to make rash moves like that.
I just don't.
So, at the bye week, 1 and 8, Titans come out of the buy,
chomping at the bit, and beat the Houston Texans at home.
The Titans play the Texans at home in the game after the buy.
And I think the Titans do get a win.
And I think that this begins, again, they're 1 and 8, they come out of the buy, they get a win, they're 2 and 8.
I think this win against Houston at home proves to the Titans like, hey, we were locked in, we had a better plan, we had a buy week, we're good enough to do this.
Got my collar all messed up.
But we're good enough to do this.
All right, we got to turn it on the back end of the season.
So I think that win at home against Houston will mean a ton for the vibes of the team.
but then they have to play Seattle the next week.
And look, again, Seattle is an inflection point, in my opinion.
If the Titans can win that game,
they give themselves a chance at a ceiling season
instead of a floor season.
But I don't think they beat Seattle.
It's another situation where I think it's a super well-coached football team
with a super great talented defense.
Like, that defense is going to be awesome this year.
Their offense, I think, will just be okay, but I think the Titans' offense will just be okay.
The Titan, so if the Titans have to go up against a really tough defense from Seattle,
and then Seattle's offense has to go up against maybe a good defense from the Titans,
and Seattle has the coaching advantage.
Like, it's just going to be, it's going to be a difficult game.
I think the Titans can win that one.
I'm not as confident in that, but I'll go with a loss to Seattle,
because I think Seattle is a pretty good team.
So, right now, the Titans would be
two and nine
with six games left
but I think the Titans
go on a big time run here
to again I mention the Carolina Panthers
they go on a big time run here
to finish the season strong

We're going game by game through the schedule. Right now we are at 2 and 9.
We are 2 and 9 for the Tennessee Titans
With six games remaining on the schedule
And I think the Titans finish very, very strong
Before we dive into that though
Do want to thank you again for making Locked on Titans
Your first listen each and every day
Remember I got a special thing coming out on tomorrow show
Locked on Titans Fantasy League
Got a new program for you guys to get some additional insights
And content from me
Can't wait to roll that out on tomorrow show
Make sure that you don't miss it
But we're 2 and 9
We just lost to Seattle, but now we got a home game against Jacksonville,
and I think the Tennessee Titans win that game.
I think the Titans start to feel themselves a little bit coming out of the buy.
They beat Houston.
They lose close to Seattle.
They're starting to play better football.
They take it to Jacksonville at home.
That's two wins out of the last three weeks, and two of them being division wins.
You know what I mean?
The Tennessee Titans are now three and nine.
It's not great.
It's not good, but they're telling themselves, hey, maybe we go on a little bit of a run here.
Okay, and then they get to go to the Cleveland Browns.
And I am begging the NFL.
I'm begging the Browns.
Please let that be Cam versus Shador.
Please.
We need it.
We need it.
That's a great storyline.
That's what the world needs.
Let's hope.
But I don't care whether it's Joe Flacco, whether it's Shador Sanders.
Well, it's Dylan Gabriel, whether it's who do they just sign recently,
bring on another quarterback after they got rid of Tyler Huntley and they let him go.
But, blah, they bring in another quarterback.
Like, I don't care.
Jesus could play quarterback for the Cleveland Browns that day.
I am taking the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans are beating the Browns in Cleveland.
One of the most fun Titans games I ever went to
was the beat down in Cleveland
where Marcus and Derek put 45 on their head tops.
I think that was the first game of 2019, as a matter of fact.
But I think the Titans go in there and roll the Browns.
I think the Titans start feeling it.
And it's like, oh, what are the Titans doing right now?
They were terrible.
We thought Brian Callahan should have been fired.
Now they're turning things around.
The Titans win three out of four.
They're four and nine.
Three out of four and four and nine right there out of the by week.
They win three of four games out of the buy.
And we start to see it.
We start to see it come together.
We start to see the vision.
Now, they have some tough games in a row after that.
so there was at this point
4 and 9
and then they got to go to San Francisco
that's tough man
that's tough I know San Francisco didn't have a great season last year
but they still have a ton of talent
and if they're healthy they definitely have a coaching advantage
you're going across the country once again
I think the Titans
and this is part of my thing
I know that I'm about to say
that I think they lose.
But I think they play San Francisco tight as crap.
I think that's a tight game.
Remember, I compared this to the Panthers
who played the Eagles and played the Chiefs
really well at the end of the year,
even if they didn't win.
And it was still a sign that they can compete now.
And I think the Titans go to San Francisco and play close.
I think they lose, you know, 2420, something like that.
Close game.
Titans are in it all long, just not enough at the end.
And then they come home and they play Kansas City
and I think the exact same thing.
I think the Chiefs win.
I think the Titans lose to the Chiefs.
Sure.
But I think the Titans play the Chiefs super close
and the Titans have a chance to win at the end of the game.
They're just not quite there.
Just a young team that's not quite there yet.
So two losses back to back
that would take the Titans to 4 and 11.
All right.
Well, then they have a home game against the Saints.
And again, copy and paste what I said about the Browns.
The Saints are even worse than the Browns, in my opinion.
The Titans are beating the Saints at home.
So that takes the Titans to 5 and 11,
and then they play at Jacksonville at the end of the year,
and I think they lose that game.
They split with Jacksonville.
So they split with all of their division mates,
which is great momentum going into 2026.
Like, we can compete in this division.
We beat all these teams.
We've beaten all of them.
So we're going to do this.
You know, we're going to be fine.
And then finishing with some,
wins to finish 5 and 12, you go 4 and 8 in the last 8 weeks of the season, that's 500
football. If the Titans could go 4 and 8, well, not 500 football, but they go 4 and 4 over their
last 8 weeks, 4 and 4 over their last 8 weeks. That's 500 football. If the Titans could play
500 football with a close loss to San Francisco and a close loss to Kansas City, if they flip
one more of these games if they win the New England game and step up for their head coach.
If they win one of the Houston or Arizona games, just one of them.
If they win that Seattle game, like, you know, there's a path to them doing better.
But ultimately, going through the schedule, looking at the team,
I think that this can be a successful season for the Titans,
build real momentum towards 2026 for the Titans to be an actual playoff contender.
And it sounds bad because it starts out so bad,
but I think this would be a great outcome.
Cam Wardcoen and Rookie of the Year
off a good end of the season like that.
Brian Callahan would keep his job and maybe show some promise.
So I know that 5 and 12 sounds awful
and you're all like, this guy is a hater, he hates the Titans.
But I'll be honest with you.
That's what I see.
And I still think that 5 and 12 can be a positive season
that, you know, it's not the best in the world.
But I think we could have good moments and have a fun season,
even at 5 and 12.
But again, let me know your predictions down below.
Let me know how many games you think the Titans win,
which games you think they win.
But that's going to do it for me today, folks.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland,
and this was Locked on Titans.
Thank you.
