Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans SENSATIONAL SIX Elite Wide Receivers in NFL Draft Can Push Cam Ward to GREATNESS
Episode Date: March 31, 2026The Tennessee Titans need to get Cam Ward an elite receiver to maximize his potential and there are only six receiving prospects in the NFL Draft that could do that for Ward in Year One. Starting with... Jordyn Tyson and Carnell Tate, with KC Concepcion, Omar Cooper, Makai Lemon and Denzel Boston following after, the Titans can get one of these sensational six at many different points early in the draft. Tyson and Tate most likely would need to be in the top 10, but Lemon, Cooper and possibly Concepcion may be more mid-round options in a trade back scenario. Boston could potentially slip to the second round and would be an ideal pick at #35. If the Tennessee Titans really want to maximize Cam Ward, they need to get one of the sensational
six wide receivers in this NFL draft class.
And I'm going to tell you who they are on today's edition of Locked on Titans.
You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked On
podcast network, your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland, Tyler.
Titans fans on today's show.
We are going to talk about the sensational six,
the top six wide receivers in the NFL draft.
And if the Tennessee Titans really want to help Cam Ward
and really want to maximize his potential in year two,
these are the six wide receivers that they need to target.
Now, getting one of these wide receivers may come in different spots
early in the draft.
We'll talk about where exactly the Titans could look to get some of these guys.
But before we dive in, do want to thank you for making a lot of
Locked on Titans, your first listen each and every day.

Also, speaking of every day, shout out to my everydayers out there.
Tune in Monday through Friday.
Couldn't do it without you guys.
If you aren't an everydayer, what are you doing?
The draft is less than a month away.
We're getting into wide receivers as we continue our Locked on Titans NFL draft preview series.
We're going to talk about the top six wide receivers tonight, tomorrow show.
We're going to talk about all of the rest of the wide receivers.
And I got about another 20 to 25 of them to go through with you guys
that could be options for the Titans to make sure that you stay locked in
with the Locked on Titans podcast.
But with that being said, again, my number one wide receiver
is Jordan Tyson.
No doubt about it.
And I think that he is the first wide receiver on the board
where I look at this top six and I say,
if you want Cam Ward to be the best version of himself in year two,
if you want to give this team an actual upgrade at wide receiver,
you have to get one of these six guys.
You have to.
These guys are on a tier of their own, in my opinion, in this draft.
And it's all about expectations.
If you get one of these top six guys that I'm going to talk about,
I think that the expectation is that they need to come in and have a great year.
They might even be wide receiver 1 in terms of production.
The most stats, the most catches, the most yards.
I think if you get one of these six guys,
they may come in year 1 and be that guy right away.
If you don't get one of these six guys,
if you get somebody who I see as further down the board,
then one of these six guys, the expectations won't be the same.
I won't be able to look at the group and say,
oh, the Tennessee Titans have really gone a long way towards solving the problem.
Oh, this guy could lead the titans.
receiver group next year. I don't know that I'll feel like that about anybody else down the board for variety of your reasons.
But again, there are six guys that I think are the sensational six. They're in a tier of their own.
But I think they're in separate tiers even within their group of six.
And my number one wide receiver again is Jordan Tyson.
All right, if I could have any wide receiver in this draft, it would be Jordan Tyson.
6 foot 2, 203 pounds, 21.7 years old,
coming out as Arizona State, and guys, he just moves differently.
I have said it throughout the process.
He's the only guy who looks like to me who you could take that guy right now
and say, oh, he can be our alpha number one wide receiver.
It doesn't mean that no one else in the draft class can eventually become that,
but I can only look at Jordan Tyson and say,
I think this guy could be an alpha wide receiver on day 1.
one for a team.
The way that he runs routes
is spectacular.
The route salesmanship.
The way he wiggles his shoulders,
the way he sells his head fakes,
the way he leans one way,
cuts back the other,
the way he shakes guys,
it is just outrageous.
He's moving at a different speed
than everybody else out there.
And I don't even think that he has like
the type of speed that we're going to talk about
when we talk about my third wide receiver on the board.
Like he's not even,
he's not Tyreek Hill speed,
But again, I would say that it compares to like a Justin Jefferson, like an Amari Cooper.
The way that those guys weren't the absolute fastest guys.
People were worried, is Justin Jefferson fast enough coming out of college?
He just moves at a different speed than everybody else out there.
He's clearly the most talented guy out on the field,
and he could have done so much more in a better offense.
And the yards after catchability, too.
It's not quite as good as other options,
but again, it's good enough to where he just can make a couple guys miss,
can turn something in a nothing, take a screen, get up field,
catch the ball, bounce off a couple of people and keep going.
And he makes big time catches.
He just makes big time catches.
Now he'll drop some passes that are just weird.
And it's like, why'd you drop that?
But he makes big time catches, jumps over top of people.
He's just like, he's just having a good time out there.
He just seems like so much of a better athlete.
injuries. The injuries are the injuries
are the reason you can't take Jordan Tyson
at number four overall. I think if not for the injuries
Jordan Tyson would be a top five pick.
He would be like Malik neighbors
in that range but the injuries cannot be ignored.
Toran ACL in 2022 with Colorado
broke a collarbone in 2024
hamstring injury that is
pun intended hamstrung his
entire draft process, hasn't been able to work out, hasn't been able to work at the combine,
reports that he had a setback with the hamstring. Is that ever going to improve?
Can you count on him? You just can't.
And some people question is toughness. You watch his tape. He leaves yards on the table.
He will catch a slant, slide down to his knee rather than take a hit, bounce off a guy and keep going.
He just kind of gives up on plays really easy. And I think part of that is he's not a super strong guy.
People can give him problems during his routes,
and people can push him around a little bit.
But, man, he's so good.
He's so talented.
With the ball in his hands, the route running.
Like, it's just, it's hard to deny.
He's just so good.
Now, again, I don't think the Titans would take him at number four.
He is my number one wide receiver,
but I think a trade back to help stomach the injury concerns
is the only way that Jordan Tyson ends up with the Titans.
Carnell Tate is the next guy
and if I'm honest with you
I think Carnell Tate has a serious chance
to be the Titans pick at number four
if they were to move back a couple of spots
6, 7, 8, 9
I think Carnell Tate is a prime target
at that point. 6 foot 2,
192 pounds
just turned 21 years old
ran a 4.5 340 yard dash
10.25 inch hands
massive hands. He's a guy who I've compared to Alec Pierce. I know some people see him as maybe
a T. Higgins type, maybe a Nico Collins type, maybe a Drake London type of receiver. I don't think
he moves quite as well. As a guy like Drake London, like laterally, but his size, his ability to
win vertically, jump over people, get down the field. And he may not be the fastest guy ever.
but his strides are so long
that he eats up space so quickly
that he wins vertically consistently.
His hands,
his hands are some of the best that we've seen in college football.
He had zero drops last year.
His contested catch rate is historic,
like 100th percentile contested catch rate.
Doesn't that sound like a guy that works best with Cam Ward?
He would fit so perfectly
with the Titans need for an outside wide receiver,
with a guy who has a big catch radius,
with a guy who doesn't drop the football,
with a guy who can win downfield deep
where Cam Ward struggles the most.
He just perfectly supports Cam Ward's weaknesses
and perfectly fits with what the Titans don't have right now.
Now with Carnell Tate,
is he a true alpha wide receiver?
Because he got a lot of space last year
on behalf of Jeremiah Smith.
He's never been the number one guy at Ohio.
State. Doesn't give you much yards after catch. Maybe he can be better at that at the NFL level,
but it's never going to be AJ Brown level, Jamar Chase level yards after catch. And is he tough
over the middle? Against Miami, there were some plays where felt like maybe he didn't want to go
across the middle. He didn't want to take the big shot. Yeah, he'll jump over somebody down the
field, but is he going to go across the middle and boom, take the pop and make the catch?
Will he be that guy who can, it's third down in five? We need a
slant over the middle, catch the ball, get us a first down.
Is he going to be that?
Or will he always be in Alec Pierce, just a high level number two, a mid-level number two?
That's the worry with Carnell Tate.
It's not that he's going to be a bad player because he's incredibly polished and the size and the speed and the contested ability.
That's going to play.
But is he worth a top 10 pick?
Would you take Alec Pierce in the top 10?
Maybe he's better than that.
But would you do that?
That's a question that I have with Carnell Tate and why I don't want him at four.
But if the Titans make a small trade back, I think Carnell Tate and Jordan Tyson make a ton of sense.
I think the next few wide receivers honestly make more realistic sense.
If the Titans were to trade down the board and a couple of these wide receivers,
the Tennessee Titans have already met with.

Fans, let's continue today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, talking about the sensational six wide receivers in this draft class.
These are my top six guys on tomorrow's show.
I am going to go down the board at wide receiver.
There's about 20 to 25 more wide receivers after this top six
that I think could make a ton of sense for the Titans
and maybe even be a more realistic value for them.
But you never know what could happen in the draft.
The Titans could make a small trade back.
They can make a big trade back.
Maybe they trade up into the first round to get one of these guys
because they certainly have interest in some of these wide receivers
because two of the next three guys that I'm going to talk about,
the Tennessee Titans have already had a visit with.
And what I'm about to say is controversial.
Because I have Jordan Tyson at number one wide receiver.
I have Cornell Tate at the number two wide receiver.
My number three wide receiver is a little bit of a hot take,
but it's KC. Concepcion, the wide receiver
out of Texas A&M.
That's who I would have next on my board.
And if the Tennessee Titans, who already had a visit with Casey,
and I would imagine it would be to check on his knee scope that he had earlier this all season,
that all checks out.
He looked good on tape running around already.
It was a small thing.
It was a quick turnaround on the recovery.
I'm not that worried about it.
Casey Concepcion is my number three wide receiver.
And quite honestly, I think he might have the biggest superstar potential of any wide receiver
in the entire draft class.
I think he has more superstar potential
than a guy like Jordan Tyson.
I really do.
Insane speed.
511, 196.
Just turned 21 years old.
Closer to 22 at this point,
but the speed.
I mean, this guy is,
I haven't watched Brennan Thompson on film yet.
But Casey Concepcion is the fastest dude
on tape that I have watched in this entire
draft class. The way
he moves and runs past people
is outrageous.
Jordan Tyson wins in this way. He's got
good speed. He runs good routes.
But it's different with Concepcion.
It is different.
Like, he is moving at a
different speed. When he gets the
ball, he is going to blow past you.
And he breaks through some contact
more than I would expect for a guy
5-11-196.
And we're going to talk
about the drops, but Concepcion makes clutch catches. Like when he absolutely has to,
he makes big time catches. And that's what's weird about when you get to the drops with Concepcion
because he's got an 11% drop rate. He had, you know, a good amount of drops throughout his career.
That's been a concern. But they're focused drops. They're like, oh, he took his eye off the ball.
He's not really paying attention. Some of them are, I don't want to go across.
the middle of the field and get hit, I'm going to kind of lean back.
But when he has to make the play, when he has to go make a catch,
he goes up and gets it.
And to see a guy with his speed,
his route running ability, which is out of this world,
to go up and make the big time catches and then add the yards after catchability,
like he is everything that you could ask from a superstar alpha number one wide receiver,
for everything you could ask,
I've seen him do on tape.
I've seen it.
Now, physicality is the big thing.
He does not play like a guy who wants to get hit.
Physicality during his routes,
physicality at the catch point,
all of those things in my opinion.
He just doesn't look like a guy who wants to get hit.
And that's a big problem at the NFL level,
which is why I have him third,
because I don't know how to feel about that.
The mass, again, he's a slender guy.
Can he put on more mass?
Is that part of, he doesn't want to be overly physical
because he knows he's not overly big.
And again, we talked about the drops issue.
Some people will never get over that.
Like I've said on recent podcasts,
I think that drops are a tad overrated.
You look at the people who have the most drops in the NFL.
Usually it's the best wide receivers in the NFL.
The best wide receivers in the NFL are at the top of the list in drops.
So I think it's just a touch overrated.
to be honest with you.
Because if he does all these other things
at an insane level,
so if the Titans trade back
to the teens,
11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 17, 18.
If the Titans trade back in that range
and get Casey Conception, Concepcion,
I'm going to throw a party.
I'm going to freak out.
That's a stud.
That's a freak of nature right there.
And I've talked about
Malik neighbor's role
in Brian Dable's system
and how the Titans just don't simply have anybody
who can do what he can...
Casey Concepcion can do it.
He can play in the slot.
He can play outside as a Z receiver.
I think that he has the release package,
his release packages,
him and Jordan Tyson both.
The way they're able to release
at the line of scrimmage against press,
wild speed.
Just wild movement that's just hard to replicate
and it just takes you a back.
It really does. It's so impressive.
I'm going to do a film breakdown on all of these six guys next week
on the Tick-Tac Titans film channel.
So I'm excited for that as we get closer to the draft.
But like Casey Concepcion does something to me.
Now the next guy would have on my list,
and again, might be a little controversial
because a lot of people are wondering,
where is Mackay Lemon?
I like McKay Lemon, but watching McKay Lemon's tape
made me lower on him throughout the process.
My number four wide receiver is Omar Cooper from Indiana.
6 foot, 199 pounds, 4.42 on the 40-yard dash.
He's 22.4 years old, so a little bit older than the rest of the guys that we've talked about so far.
But he is more polished.
He is a true professional.
He is just polished in every...
He has good hands.
He is a worker.
He'll get in there and block.
He runs professional routes.
how to sell him. He knows how to fake inside, go outside, sell his head this way, lean this way,
cut back inside. He's just a professional route runner who's going to get open at all three levels.
I've seen him compared to a guy like C.D. Lamb. I've seen a lot of people compare him to
like Brandon Ayuk for example. He's got yards after catchability. Watching Omar Cooper,
I was just shocked by how good of contact balance he has. He can be a little bit of a bowling ball
where he just will not go down.
So with his route running ability,
his professional mindset polished to his game
to add in the yards after catch
and the body control and just,
he's the total package at wide receiver.
The thing is,
he doesn't have elite size and length.
If he was three inches taller,
he'd be a top five pick.
I really do believe that.
But he doesn't have elite size.
He doesn't have elite speed.
Like he has good speed,
and it's crazy that 4, 4,2,
speed isn't considered elite speed anymore.
He has good speed, but it's not like Concepcion.
You know, it's just not, he doesn't have that same explosion that Concepcion has.
Also, dealing with physicality through his routes,
like we talked about with Concepcion,
similar sizes on those guys.
Can they deal with the physicality through their routes at the NFL level?
That's a question.
And the versatility.
Here's the real thing with Omar Cooper
He played mostly in the slot
Now he played a ton on the outside in 2024
But for Indiana
Excuse me
Last year
He basically played
Only in the slot
Like I talked about
Earlier and we're getting ready to talk about right now
With Mackay Lemon
How does that fit
With what the Tennessee Titans have already done?
Now Mackay Lemon is the next guy
I have him as my wide receiver five.
Okay, and I know I was a Lemonhead early on,
but after the Combine interviews,
after watching more of his tape,
I just had to bring him down a little bit.
He is going to be a good player.
I don't think that, you know, he's a Monroh St. Brown.
I think that's the type of player that he's going to be,
but he's going to be just a lesser version of that.
I think he could be like Wondell Robinson.
And that's really the question here.
Yes, Mackay Lemon is insanely tough.
He'll catch anything.
Size doesn't matter the way he catches the football.
He will jump over top of you.
He'll get contacted by two guys at once
and he's going to bring down the ball.
He has incredible hands and toughness.
He will block.
He'll get in there and play physical.
Like for a guy his size, 5-11-190, he is insanely physical.
He has great feel and zone coverage.
the holes to get in, where I'm supposed to be,
sets guys up with his man coverage ability.
Yards after catch, get the ball in his hands,
and he's going to be more elusive than you would imagine.
But at the end of the day, he is cap by his size.
He ran a 4-540, and it looks like it on tape.
He's not that explosively fast.
He's not going to be a guy who wins vertical routes consistently.
That's just not something.
And he won a lot of contested catch situations.
And you know why he won so many contested catch situations?
Because he had a lot of contested catch situations
because he did not separate.
The game against Notre Dame where he played against Leonard Moore.
He had an okay game.
I think it was four catches, 78 yards, made some plays.
But far too often, he just could not separate.
And I know that Leonard Moore is supposed to be a top five pick next year,
elite cornerback in college football.
So it's, you know, but the best players at college football go to the NFL.
And do I think Mackay Lemon is going to be able to create
as much separation in the NFL as he did in college football?
I'm skeptical.
Is he going to be able to win in contested catch situations as often in the NFL as he did in college football?
I have questions there.
And I think that Omar Cooper, KC. Concepcion, I think that they can play Jordan Tyson.
They can play on the outside.
They could play Z.
They could play that isolated Malik neighbor's role.
I think they could play that role in Brian Dable's offense.
I don't think that Mackay Lemon can do that.
He played on the outside at USC,
but I just don't think that he's going to be good enough at that.
And you're not maximizing his value if you do that.
So Mackay Lemon is a harder fit for me,
even though he had a 30 visit with the Tennessee Titans.
Concepcion had a 30 visit with the Tennessee Titans.
I don't think they need to have a visit with Cornell Tate.
He's a clean prospect.
They're probably not interested in Jordan Tyson because of the injuries whatsoever anyway.
so they're not going to burn a visit there.
Denzel Boston is a guy.
Is he going to meet with the Titans?
I think there's been some rumor,
but I haven't seen anything confirmed.
He's the guy that I want to talk about next.
So we have Jordan Tyson, Carnell Tate,
then Casey Concepcion, Omar Cooper, Mackay Lemon.
And then finally, in a tier by himself,
is Denzel Boston,
who I think the Titans could potentially get trading back
into the first round,
or potentially, if they're lucky,
Denzel Boston could slip to the second round.
Fans, let's cap off.
Today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, breaking down the top six wide receivers in the NFL.
Draft my sensational six who can raise Cam Ward's potential in year two.
Everybody else after this group of six, I can't have as high of expectations for.
I'm going to break down the rest of the wide receiver group on tomorrow's show.
So make sure that you check that out.
But with that being said, Denzo Boston is the last guy of my sensational.
six here. And he's a guy who I think might be the most realistic option for the Tennessee
Titans out of this group of six. He might be the guy who could most likely end up with the Titans.

But again, Denzel Boston is the last guy in my sensational 6.
6'4-2-10 pounds,
22 years of age, 32-inch arms, big, huge hands.
I think Denzel Boston might be outside of Carnell Tate,
and even more so, I think Denzel Boston might be the best fit
for what the Tennessee Titans need.
The Titans need a big-bodied X-wide receiver.
Carnell Tate may be more of a, he could play the X, I do believe it,
but with his slenderness and his vertical ability,
he may be better served more as a vertical Z guy and a versatile guy.
Denzel Boston is the prototypical X wide receiver.
You know, he's like a Michael Pittman Jr., Vincent Jackson,
you know, a Mike Evans, people always compare guys like this to,
and I don't think that's the case with Denzel Boston.
But Terrell Owens, you know, he's not the athlete that Tio was, in my opinion.
but that type of big-bodied, huge, physical, wide receiver, X on the boundary,
taking press coverage.
That's what Denzel Boston is.
And that is what the Tennessee Titans need.
I mean, that size, 6'3-210.
He plays like a basketball player.
He plays above the rim.
He skies over people.
Dominates cornerbacks in the red zone.
Has great body control to jump up.
And for a guy his size, he's not quick like Mackay Lemon,
Omar Cooper, Casey Concepcion, Jordan Tyson.
He's not quick like that.
But for a guy his size, the way he's able to shake guys,
hit slant routes, quick in-routes,
win on those possession opportunities.
And that's what you need from your big physical X receiver.
Now, outside of that,
he just doesn't have great speed.
He didn't run the 40-yard dash.
There's a reason why.
He doesn't have, he would probably run a,
4, 5, 8, 4, 6, something like that.
He just doesn't have that burner speed.
Sometimes, you know, beaten press quickly.
He has the physicality to win there.
But beating it quicker has to be something that he does
at the next level.
He can get a little jammed up sometimes.
And he's not going to give you much yards after catch.
Now, he has a little bit of wiggle.
But again, it's not going to be like AJ Brown,
Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase,
Pooka Nakua. He's not going to give you yards after catch like that.
And it's worth noting, if you watch Denzel Boston,
he had his worst games against the best teams.
Michigan, Ohio State, didn't really do much.
He just bawled out on lesser teams quite a bit.
That makes me worry.
So it's funny that, and these two are probably linked,
Denzel Boston is the wide receiver I'm most nervous about out of this six.
I had the least amount of confidence
in this six-man group with Denzel Boston.
But that's also probably why he's the most likely guy
to be available for the Tennessee Titans
because he's probably going to go at the end of the first round,
maybe even drop to the second round.
I don't think that he's going to drop to the second round.
I think these six wide receivers are going to go.
But if there's any wide receiver without a trade,
if the trade back happens, all bets are off.
But just Titans sticking and picking.
Imagine if they were to get,
David Bailey and then Denzel Boston or Jeremiah Love and then Denzo Boston.
Like Denzel Boston is part of an elite start to the NFL draft.
An elite start.
So I'm a little nervous about him more than some of these other guys,
but at the end of the day, if he's there at 35, you simply couldn't pass on him.
Now, the next group of wide receivers, again, I like them.
I would like the Titans to draft them.
but I don't know if I'd be comfortable taking them at pick number 35.
I think I'd have to trade back a little bit
or look for one of these guys at pick 66.
But the problem is, will they be there at 66?
Guy like Chris Brasel, Chris Bell, Jeremy Bernard, Zachariah Branch.
That's kind of the next group of wide receivers for me
and then there's a little bit of a tear break.
And then we get to like the Ted Hurst, Skyler Bell area.
So I'm going to talk more in depth about Chris Brasel, Chris Bell, Jeremy Bernard,
Zachariah Branch, Ted Hurst, and the rest of the wide receiver group on tomorrow show.
So make sure that you guys check that out.
But that's going to do it for me today, folks.
Let me know which of your or which of these wide receivers,
these sensational six are your favorite.
How would you rank them?
Because I know a lot of you guys are going to have Mikai Lemon a little bit higher than me.
but again, Jordan Tyson, Carnell Tate, Casey Concepcion, Omar Cooper,
Mackay Lemon, Denzel Boston.
That's my top six wide receivers in the NFL.
That's going to do it for me today, though, folks, as always.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
