Episode Date: August 27, 2025The Tennessee Titans made a ton of moves on Wednesday and one of them included cutting veteran offensive lineman Corey Levin, who had been the starting center all offseason, which puts major pressure ...on the backup center. After yesterday's news that Xavier Restrepo was being waived, we got new news that Restrepo will be returning to the Tennessee Titans practice squad along with other familiar faces. Finally, the Titans didn't make any moves at certain positions like running back and wide receiver leaving big questions at multiple spots. The Tennessee Titans made a shocking cut on the offensive line,
but it's what they didn't do on WaverWire Wednesday that has me so surprised.
I'll go over all the big moves on today's edition of Locked on Titans.

everything you need to know everything the Tennessee Titans did. The Titans set their
practice squad and Xavier Restrepo was on it. The Titans made multiple waiver claims. I'm going to
going to tell you who they picked up. I'm going to tell you about the cuts that the Titans
made, including a shocker on the offensive line. Also, we'll talk about the moves that the Titans
didn't make because there's some big question marks that Titans still have. Before we get
into all of it, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans, your first listen each and

you need to stay locked in here with the Locked-on Titans podcast.
But with that being said, the biggest shock of the day, in my opinion,
were the cuts on the offensive line, and specifically, Corey Levin.
Corey Levin was cut by the Tennessee Titans.
Levin had been the Titans starting center throughout all of the all season,
while Lloyd Cushenberry was recovering from an Achilles tear.
Now, quite honestly, while this may be a surprise and it may be a shock to Titans fans,
it's actually good news.
And let me explain what.
Corey Levin getting cut means that the Titans feel very confident
that Lloyd Cushenberry is going to be ready to go for week one against the Denver Broncos.
So having Lloyd Cushenberry ready to go and the Titans feeling confident in that,
that's a very, very good sign and a very good takeaway from Cora.
11 being cut. Not only that, but it shows that the Titans might have some confidence in
rookie Jackson Slater to be a backup center when Slater was drafted in the sixth round out of Sacramento
State or might have been the fifth round at the very end. Either way, when Jackson Slater was
drafted on day three of the draft, he was a guy who was billed as versatile on the interior
offensive line. He could play guard, but he could probably slide in and play some center.
Now, the Titans didn't use Jackson Slater at center pretty much at all during this training camp preseason period and things like that.
But maybe they do feel some confidence that the rookie could take that spot if needed.
Maybe a guy like Blake Hans could take that spot.
So that could be a good takeaway as well that maybe they have more confidence in Jackson Slater to be the backup center if needed.
But let me also say this.
Corey Levin is on the Tennessee Titans practice squad.
So if the Titans needed him, if, you know, could be.
Cushenberry weren't ready in week one.
Corey Levin would just be elevated off the practice squad for the first couple of weeks
to allow Cushingberry to get back.
So I think it means good things, but they still have Corey Levin around just in case.
So I love that addition to the practice squad.
Also, on the offensive line, John Ajuku got cut by the Tennessee Titans.
Ajuku is a guy who's been with the team for a while.
He can kind of be that jumbo tight end.
but they decided to keep the undrafted free agent rookie Brendan Crenshaw Dixon out of Florida.
They decided to keep him on the roster over a guy who's been with the team for a couple of years and a juku.
But a juku, I would imagine, goes back to the practice squad as well as somebody
who the Tennessee Titans would feel comfortable to elevate if they needed him.
So I thought the most interesting stuff of the day certainly happened on the offensive line.
But also, Xavier Restrepo is back on the practice.
I know that's something that Tennessee Titans fans were very much concerned about.
I wanted to see Xavier Restrepo back on the practice squad and that's exactly what you get.
But Restrepo isn't the only wide receiver back on the practice squad.
The Titans actually kept Mason Kinsey and James Proche on the practice squad.
That's three wide receivers right there, a little heavy, but I think this is smart.
And we talked about this possibility on yesterday's show.
The Titans cut James Prochet and it was a bit of a shocker
because Bones Fossil said that Chim D.K. wasn't ready to be the punt returner for the Titans.
Well, like we just talked about with Corey Levin,
what the Titans can do here with James Prochet is,
because he didn't have to go through waivers,
they didn't have to worry about James Prochet getting claimed by somebody.
So James Prochet can just immediately come back to the Titans,
and the Titans are telling him, hey, you're our starting punt returner.
We're going to put you on the practice squad for right now
so we can keep some other developmental guys on the roster
that could get waived,
but we're still going to elevate you off the practice squad
when the games come around so that you'll be our punt returner.
So James Prochay, back on practice squad.
No surprise there.
We talked about that yesterday.
But Mason Kinsey, once again,
you just can't kill Mason Kinsey, period.
He's still around.
Now, some other guys who made the Tennessee Titans practice squad
and we'll hit the waiver claims here in just a second.
but uh
Cam Horsley
the Titans undrafted free agent
defensive lineman
Trevor Simeon is back
at quarterback to be the scout team guy
Jamar Jefferson
and Jordan Mims both the Titans
back end of the roster
running backs added
which goes along with some moves
the Titans didn't make
on Wednesday
that are a little disappointing
we'll talk about those at the end of the show
quarterback running back wide receiver
and so on
Corey Levin
Of course, like we said, on in the practice squad, Clay Webb.
Clay Webb is a guy who was a high recruit that went to Georgia for a couple of years in college
and then transferred to Sacramento, or Jacksonville State for a couple of years.
He's an interior offensive lineman with great athleticism and great talent level.
Not surprised that he left the Denver Broncos after getting waived
and came to sign with the Tennessee Titans practice squad so he can be developed by Bill Callahan.
Clay Webb is one of the six guys that were added to the Titans roster on Wednesday.
Now, it's practice squad for Webb, but part of the six guys that were added.
Kendall Brooks at safety, who had to pick six against Atlanta.
He made the practice squad.
Of course, James Prochet, as I said,
Isaiah Rakey's another interior defensive line undrafted free agent
for the Titans that was there during camp.
Ali Gay, who I thought actually would make the roster at outside linebacker,
Thomas Ode Coyer, who we know at Tide End,
The Titans will keep around.
Andrew Rupsich.
No surprise there.
I thought he had a good preseason.
Carlos Watkins, the interior defensive lineman,
will stay around.
And Amani Uruarie.
Still can't say that properly, but I think I did okay.
Gets the final spot there.
So that's the Tennessee Titans practice squad.
Again, what I love that stands out
is you have a Corey Levin
who could still be elevated on the practice squad.
And then you have a guy like Clay Webb
who could be developed to be the defensive squad.
next Corey Levin. Who you keep around is your depth center for quite some time.
The Titans keep James Prochet and play the roster loops with him. I like that.
But of course, Xavier Restrepo back on the practice squad.
I love hearing that. Continue that development. Continue that connection.
And I think Restrepo is a guy who will get called up during the year and will make an impact.
And once you actually put Xavier Restrepo in the games,
well, then you're going to see his actual impact.
Because I just have a feeling that Restrepo is a guy who,
who's going to flash in games more than he does in practice.
But again, the Titans added six players on Wednesday.
Four waiver claims, two signings,
and they cut five players as well.
We'll go over all of the moves individually right now.

Titans fans, let's continue today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast going over all of the roster movement for the Tennessee Titans.
We talked about some cuts that the Titans made on the offensive line.
We talked about the practice squad being set.
But now I want to dive into the actual waiver claims that the Tennessee Titans made.
They made four waiver claims on the day.
They added six players overall.
And I gotta tell you, I like some of these claims that the Titans made and you can see where their philosophy is at.
But before we dive into it, I do want to thank you again for making Locked on Titans your first listen.
I want to remind you locked on is doing a survey trying to hear from you guys locked on podcast.com slash survey.

helping us out. But
four waiver claims for the Titans
and they all
come on the defensive side
of the ball. So we got to start
at cornerback. The Titans really wanted to
attack cornerback. We heard early in the day from some national reporting
that the Titans were very interested in adding
cornerbacks along with the Browns. The Browns were number two in the waiver
wire. They wanted to add some corners and the Titans ultimately get
two different cornerbacks
Off the waiver wire.
Number one, Jalen Armar Davis.
We talked about JAD on yesterday's show.
I gave you an idea that the Titans could be interested in him.
He's a big physical cornerback who was cut by the Baltimore Ravens.
6 foot 1, 200 pounds.
He's 26 years old out of Alabama.
He was a fourth round pick in 2022, I think, for the Baltimore Ravens.
But he's a guy who's played 19 games in his career.
He played 94 snaps on defense in 2024, so not a ton of experience.
He's dealt with some injuries.
But he has played 302 career snaps on special teams.
And last year for the Ravens, he played 135 special team snaps.
The year before that, he played 110 special team snaps.
So this is a guy who gives you a big physical outside corner,
which is where the Titans need the most help personnel-wise,
but also as special teams experience,
which being a back end of the roster guy
is absolutely critical for the Tennessee Titans.
Now, that's not the only cornerback that they signed as well.
Sam Womack, Samuel Womack,
who's 5'10, 190 pounds, also 26, out of Toledo.
He was a fifth round draft pick in 2022 for the San Francisco 49ers.
He played for the Indianapolis Colts last year,
but way more experience and way more durability than a guy like Jalen Armard Davis.
Davis, to me, is like a project guy.
Danard Wilson coached him in Baltimore for one year when he was a younger player
when DeNard was there in 2023, so there may be a connection there.
They could continue to develop him.
But I think Samuel Womack is who's actually going to be ready to play
and help the Titans right away.
Again, 5'10, 190.
It sounds like a slot cornerback.
But Womack actually played more outside for the
Colts last year. Now, the Colts changed their defensive scheme, and he didn't fit as well
with Lou Anirumo as he did previously. So, didn't fit in Indy, but played 40 games in his
career, 62 tackles. He's had three interceptions, and most of that came last year. He played
672 snaps on defense for the Indianapolis Colts. He had an interception against the Tennessee
Titans. He had two interceptions last year. One of them was against the Titans, so there you go.
But he's also a guy with special teams experience.
Now, because he was so involved on defense with the Colts last year,
Womack only played 15 snaps on special teams.
But you go back to his first two seasons in the NFL,
especially that first season with San Francisco.
He played 233 snaps on special teams in 22 and then 105 in 23.
So the only reason he didn't play special teams last year for Indy
is because he was literally a starter on the defense for them
at times during the season.
So I'm really excited about what Samuel Womack can do right now,
but I'm also very excited about what Jalen Armour Davis could be going forward.
Now, the Titans' other two waiver claims were both also on defense.
And they go to Linebacker next where I felt very, very convinced
the Titans were going to use one of their waiver claims at Linebacker
because Curtis Jacobs, not Linebacker for, in my opinion,
the Titans were looking for somebody else.
and they go out and get a guy
who they just saw in the last pre-season game
in Dorian Musai.
I think that's how you say it.
Not 100% sure.
Could be like Maasai or something like that.
But Musai, M-A-U-S-I, best I can do, Mus-Sai.
But 6-1, 234 pounds, only 23 years old.
He was an undrafted free agent this year.
Musai played for Duke early in his career.
He played for Auburn last year.
I believe he led Auburn in tackles.
He had 81 tackles last year, nine tackles for loss,
two and a half sacks, one force fumble.
This is a guy who's going to be good at blitzing.
And we know that the Titans like to blitz their linebackers
and have their linebackers be downhill threats.
So, Musai fits that.
Maybe they were impressed with what he did on special teams
in that preseason game and wanted to bring him in
and give him a look again, a cut by the Minnesota Vikings.
Now, the final waiver claim of the day
was another interior defensive lineman,
but not quite the same as Shide Tuddle,
who we'll talk about here in just a second.
Tuttle is a nose tackle.
Tuttle is a traditional nose tackle,
going to be a Tavondre sweat back up,
taking the place of Timmy Horn.
But C.J. Ravenel,
who the Titans used their fourth and final waiver claim on,
is more of a Sebastian Joseph Day type of backup.
He's a guy who's 6'5, close to 300 pounds,
25 years old still.
He was an undrafted free agent for the Ravens
out of Missouri Western last year.
He's a guy who I think has some versatility
to rush on the inside to line up as a five technique
and a three-four base defense.
Again, I think he's going to be a direct backup
for Sebastian Joseph Day
who kind of plays that five technique role for the Titans
with Devonre Sweat is the nose
and Jeffrey Simmons is the three technique.
So I think he slots in there
and it gives the Titans a direct backup
for every until.
defensive lineman, Lynch for Simmons, Tuttle for Sweat, and Ravenel for SJD.
But again, I wouldn't get too attached to some of these players
because the Titans are going to continue churning.
They could bring in these players and then they disappoint.
And they churn them again before the regular season happens and stuff like that.
But at the end of the day, I understand why the Titans are attacking these positions.
They need a depth desperately on the defensive side of the ball.
And I would say interior defensive line depth was actually more important than edge depth.
when it comes to waiver claims.
We're going to talk about some of the moves the Titans didn't make
and the positions they didn't do additions at
and why I think that is.
But do want to mention the last two additions of the day for the Titans.
We talked about Shy Tuttle just now.
His signing became official with the Titans,
6 foot 3, 300 pounds, 29 years old,
been in the NFL for six seasons, 95 games,
232 tackles, 10 tackles for loss,
4-5 career sacks.
He's only missed two games in the last four years.
Tuttle is a very reliable, durable player
who can be that backup nose tackle for the Tennessee Titans
and I'm happy that they didn't play around
after all of the young interior defensive linemen
didn't pan out.
Let's go get a veteran in the trenches that we can rely on.
I'm not mad about the Titans doing that.
I think that's a smart move.
Now, the last guy that we got to talk about
is someone we mentioned before and it was Clay Webb.
Clay Webb brought over from the Denver Broncos
played at Jackson State.
Like I said, former high-level recruit
that went to Georgia for a couple of years.
He's just an athletic interior offensive lineman.
Put him on practice squad with Corey Levin
like we talked about.
And I think you have a guy who can kind of develop
to be the next core 11.
It has good athleticism
and maybe Bill Callahan could get the best out of him.
And I think that's why Clay Webb
ultimately did not sign back with the Denver Broncos
but actually signed with the Tennessee Titans instead,
even though he could have gone back.
So I think that's a good sign for the Titans.
And we've heard from, you know, Lloyd Cushenberry that he came over
because he wanted to learn from Bill Callahan.
And Dan Morris said that.
So Bill Callahan, the recruiter, baby.
That's good news for the Titans as well.
So that is the six additions to finalize the cuts that the Titans made.
We talked about Corey Levin and what the plan is with him.
John Ojuku as well was cut.
Curtis Jacobs cut, Gabe Judy Lawley cut, and Timmy Horn cut as well.
Now, some of these guys, once they get through waivers, like Jacobs,
Gabe Judy Lawley, Ajuku, once they get through waivers,
the Titans might actually bring them back on the practice squad,
and we'll update things there.
But those are the guys who got cut.
And again, Corey Levin, the only big-time shocker for me.
But with that being said, the Titans didn't make moves at running back,
at wide receiver, at edge, at quarterback,
and we got to make sense of why that might be,

Titans fans. Let's cap off today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
We talked about the Titans cuts that they've made, the waiver-wise.
additions, the practice squad being set initially. Now, we're going to talk about the moves the Titans didn't make
because there were a lot of positions that a lot of you guys were very excited to see the Titans add someone, me included,
and then we ultimately didn't. Now, before I dive into that, I do want to thank you again for making Locked on Titans.

Football on YouTube or wherever
you listen to podcast, but
the number one thing that stands out is the Tennessee
Titans did not add a running back.
We talked about
Adrick Estime, we talked about Damien Martinez,
I talked about potentially adding a veteran
like a Khalil Herbert as well.
Ultimately, none of that
happened. The Titans didn't make any moves
at running back whatsoever. Now,
they brought back, um,
Jamar Jefferson and they brought back Jordan Mims on the practice squad.
But like, you know, what's that doing?
You know, that's not going to help with Tajay Spears being out
and Callow Mullings being banged up.
Now, maybe this means that Mullings is not banged up at all.
Maybe this means that the Titans aren't worried about Colell Mullings
and they think that he can be their number two running back
until Taji Spears is back in week five.
Maybe that's the case.
But I have a hard time believing that,
if I'm honest with you.
I just have a hard time believe in that
and I'm shocked
that the Titans are willing to go into the season
with just Pollard Mullings and Chestnut.
You guys know that I'm not super high on Chestnut.
Mullings struggled in past protection in the preseason
and he's still a rookie who was converted
from linebacker to running back in college.
I just can't count on Collell Mullings
and Tony Pollard
or Tony Pollard and Julius Chestnut
like that's not
that's not a good rotation
and with how easy it is
to find decent running backs these days
honestly it's just a disappointment
now
the Titans could absolutely
the Titans could absolutely still
add a veteran running back
the Titans could absolutely still
claim somebody who gets cut
maybe later in the week or next week
they could still make a move like that
I think getting Khalil Herbert
would still make a ton of sense for the Titans, but they didn't do anything yet.
So that's one place where I was just kind of shocked
that the Titans didn't make any moves whatsoever.
I get if you don't want to use a claim on one of these running backs,
but not using any moves at all on running back,
I am somewhat shocked by that.
Now, the other one that I want to mention here is wide receiver.
We thought that Trey Palmer would make some sense for the Titans,
maybe signing a veteran like McCull Hardman,
make some sense as well.
McCall Hardman went back to the Packers
practice squad
and the Titans didn't pick up
Trey Palmer. Someone else did.
I forget who picked up Trey Palmer.
I think it might have been the Saints.
But I think the reason for that is
what we talked about before with James Pro Shea.
I think we were all like, oh, the Titans
need a punt returner. The Titans need a punt
returner. They should pick up a wide receiver
who has punt returnability and kick returnability
and Trey Palmer has that.
McColl Hardman has that.
Well, yes, you're right, but if James Prochet is just going to be back on the practice squad
and be elevated on game day to be their punt returner, then the need for that isn't as high.
You know what I mean?
So it makes sense the Titans didn't ultimately add a wide receiver
because they brought back James Prochet to do everything that we were looking for somebody to do.
Quarterback, we'll just finish off on offense, guys.
I've been trying to tell you, I've said it as many times.
I said it on the squad show and Brad Hopkins told me to shush because it's so illogical.
You know what I mean?
Like everybody argues with me, but the Titans didn't get a quarterback.
And as a matter of fact, not only did they not go get a quarterback,
they brought back Trevor Simeon on the practice squad so they would have the exact same quarterbacks that they had before.
Guys, if Cam Ward isn't playing, the Titans want to lose.
You may not think that.
Of course, like Brad was saying,
the players aren't going to think like that.
No, the players aren't going to think like that.
But Mike Borgonzi and Chad Brinker
have to do what is best for this football team in the future.
I heard Brinker talk about it before.
Brinker's looking at the next 5 to 10 years for the Titans.
Mike Borgonzi is looking at the next 3 to 4 years for the Titans,
and Brian Callahan needs to worry about the next game.
That's what the setup is.
So, of course, of course Mike Borgonzi is going to look at the roster
and say, we aren't winning anything with a backup quarterback.
Why would we want to win with a backup quarterback?
It would be better if Cam Ward can't play.
If Cam Ward's out, we're in trouble anyway.
So it would be better to lose, get the best draft pick that we possibly can
so that we can build this bad football team.
team back up.
Some of you guys don't want to hear it.
You say, oh, that's losers mentality.
Oh, that's this and that.
Oh, that's, well, that's what they're doing.
Brandon Allen's not good.
Trevor Simeon will be a good scout team quarterback.
But I saw somebody say that, you know,
Trevor Simeon is insurance for Brandon Allen
and now they can go get a young guy.
That's not, I don't understand how people don't see what's happening at
quarterback yet.
How could you not see it, especially people.
who cover the team every day and are in the building.
How could you not understand that the plan right now is
they want guys in the quarterback room with Cam Ward
who are going to teach Cam Ward, develop Cam Ward along?
They are not concerned with having a good backup.
If Cam Ward's not in, they don't want to win.
So, like, I don't know.
People are just, where's Brandon, how can we do Brandon Allen,
Trevor Stephen, these guys suck?
Yes, of course they do.
They know that.
That is the plan.
So if you haven't accepted that yet, I don't know what else I can tell you.
I've been preaching for weeks and months that the Titans don't want a good backup.
And they're proving it to you right now.
Now, the final thing that I want to mention here is the Titans did not add an edge rusher.
And it's a bit shocking with some of the good names that were out there and available.
But I think rather than add a young edge rusher on waivers,
I do think the Titans would be better served to add a,
veteran edge rusher, like a Preston Smith, like a Zadarius Smith, like a Jadavian Clowny.
I think those names, and I've been saying those names for a while now,
the Titans need to go out if they have Arden Key, Dremont Jones, Femiole dejo,
and then one of those veteran names that I just mentioned with Jihad Ward as their number five,
and maybe you keep Jalen Harrell for special teams purposes,
that's at least a little bit better of an edge group than what we expected from the Titans early on.
So no edge rushers, but I think the edge rush edition may be coming from a veteran and free agency
more than a waiver wire, a young guy, even if that's not what we want to hear right now.
But either way, that's going to do it for all of today's news.
That's going to do it for me today, folks.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
You know,
You know,
