Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans SLEEPING ON OFFENSIVE TACKLE in NFL Draft, Day 2 Can't Pass OTs & Day 3 Dart Throws
Episode Date: April 2, 2026The Tennessee Titans have much bigger needs than offensive tackle, but if the right name fell to the second round, like Caleb Lomu, Blake Miller or Kadyn Proctor, the Titans would have to pounce consi...dering the uncertainty of the future of Dan Moore at left tackle. However, they could always wait for more of a developmental option in the mid-rounds like Dametrious Crownover, Markel Bell and JC Davis. More importantly, the Titans have been sniffing around Day 3 offensive tackles as of late like Tristan Leigh and Travis Burke, which could mean they are targeting more the end of the draft for that tackle development project. I think Tennessee Titans fans are sleeping on the possibility of offensive tackle early in the draft,
myself included.
I'll tell you why I think I was wrong and the best options available on today's edition of Locked on Titans.

We're going to break down the offensive tackle class in the NFL draft.
I think my initial thoughts on offensive tackle in the draft were wrong.
I'm going to tell you why and the best options on all three days
Before we dive into it, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans

Couldn't do it without you guys.
If you aren't an everydayer, you need to be one.
We are smack dab in the middle of the 26 Locked on Titans NFL draft preview series
going position by position.
We're going to talk offensive tackle today.
But tomorrow, we're going to get to make.
the more important spot interior offensive line.
I'm going to go over the guards and the centers in this draft class.
Make sure that you don't miss that.
Stay locked in with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world.
Locked on Titans.
But with that being said, again, I think I was wrong initially
about the offensive tackle position.
I was pretty gung-ho.
I was pretty straightforward.
The Titans will not be taking an offensive tackle in round one.
The Titans will not be taking an offensive tackle in round two.
I had gone back and forth with some of you guys in the comment saying that idea is ludicrous.
They're not going to do that.
You have J.C. Latham.
You have Dan Moore.
There's just no reason to do that.
But then what happened was,
I started looking at the draft.
I started looking at the pockets of wide receivers, of edge rushers,
who I think is worth the second round pick,
who I think is worth a third round pick.
And I started to think some of the wide receivers that I was interested in in the second round,
like a Denzel Boston, like a K.C. Concepcion, like an Omar Cooper,
for example, they probably aren't going to make it to the second round.
And some of the edge rushers that I was interested in at the top of the second round,
I'm either not as interested in anymore like is the case of a guy like Zion Young,
or I'm starting to think a guy like Cassius Howe, T.J. Parker, they're not going to make it to the second round.
So if the wide receiver talent has dropped off a tier, like we talked about,
you go from Denzel Boston to Chris Brousel,
know how much the Titans are going to want to take a crisp brazzle at number 35.
Zion Young has some character concerns.
He's not really a speed rusher.
He's more of a power rusher, which the Titans already have a lot of.
Do they really want a guy like that?
So if the edge rusher and the wide receiver group isn't very good,
and this is whether they take Jeremiah Love or whether they take a defender,
regardless of that, I think the offensive tackle,
bucket could be pretty good right there.
And God forbid the Titans trade down to the late teens.
If the Titans trade down to 16, 17, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22,
something like that for some reason.
If they move that far back,
I think a lot more of these offensive tackles come into play.
If the Titans moved back that far into the late teens
into maybe the early 20s,
I would take an offensive tackle if the right one was there.
And look, you're going to have Francis Malano.
The guy from Miami 6-5, 3.30, he's a thick-bodied guy with great, strong hands.
Really strong player has not great length, not exceptional feet and range,
but I think he's going to go top five.
I don't think the Titan should take an offensive tackle at 4,
so C.C. Malanoa probably not an option.
Spencer Fano is the next guy, and there is a chance that he drops down the board.
6-5-3-13, only 32-inch arms.
So, terribly small arms, short arms for an offensive tackle.
So can he play there?
Look, he's very athletic, great range, good grip strength,
plays with good IQ, he's a good mover,
can find guys on the run and on the move, good at target location.
But not very much power.
Again, 313, 6-5, not great anchor, not great pop.
There are some people who think Spencer Fano could play at center.
So if the Titans were to trade back into the late teens, early 20s,
and Spencer Fano is there,
you could get an elite center who could kick out and play left tackle
once Dan Moore has gone after the year.
Monroe Freeling, another guy, 6-7, 315 out of Georgia,
34 and 3 4th inch arms.
Great range, great agility, good timing with his hands.
He's a great puller out in space for a guy size
just doesn't have the drive, the anchor, the wide base,
gives him a little bit of a problem, he can be too wide.
I think he might go in the top 15 picks,
but if the Titans trade back to the late teens and Monroe Freeling is there,
I'd 100% take it.
Dan Moore is not going to be around much longer.
Dan Moore is an average to below average starting tackle
on every single given game day.
Average at best, below average on average.
And bad when he's at his worst,
when he has a bad matchup.
just outright bad.
So, if the Titans are trying
to look ahead here, if the Titans are trying
to help Cam Ward, if the Titans are trying to
support Cam Ward, most
of you in my comments and a lot of you guys
who yell at me all the time say, the offensive
line is the way to do it.
Well, I can't take any of the offensive
linemen at pick number four, but again,
if they make a massive trade back,
I think all these guys
make a lot of sense.
Later, if the Titans were to wait,
I think some of these guys could be there in the second
round. Caleb Loomu out of Utah. Pure left tackle, left-handed guy, 6-6, 313, 33 and a third-inch
arms, 21 years old, great athlete, good frame, plays with great technique, great timing with his
hands, great IQ. He doesn't quite have great power pop in his hands because he is a 313-66
shorter arm guy, but I mean at pick 35, you're getting a guy with insane and
experience. I'd bring him in. Caden Proctor out of Alabama 6.6. 350. 33 and a third inch arms.
ran a 7.783 cone and 3 cone is incredibly predictive for offensive line success.
That's why I really like Spencer Fano. I ran a 7.3, 4, uh, 3 cone. That's outrageous.
But Caden Proctor, not even 21 years old at.
incredible power
grip strength
once he gets his hands on you you're done
anchor to sit down
and he's got good get-off
for a guy his size he gets off the snap
good linear athlete
I mean they threw him the football
at Alabama one time for him to run down
the sideline
he's a better athlete than most guys his size
and you combine that athleticism
with the power in the frame that he has
that's why people like Caden Proctor
so much now he's not super agile
he's got to work on using
his hands independently and pass protection, a technique thing.
And like J.C. Latham coming out, who a lot of people will compare him to,
got to manage the weight.
The weight will definitely be something that people are concerned about
and that is part of his scouting report for every single team.
But if he drops to number 35, take Caden Proctor, play him at guard early on,
kick him out the left tackle next year, heck, he might beat out Dan Moore.
These guys might beat out Dan Moore, period.
A Monroe Freeling, a Caleb Lumu, a Caden Proctor,
the next guy, Blake Miller, out of Clemson, 6-6, 317, 35-inch arms.
Rent a 7.753 cones, only 22 years old.
He is an incredible athlete with great length.
Great athlete, 6-foot-6, 35-inch arms, that'll play in the NFL.
And he might go late first round, like Lomu,
Dr.
Blake Miller.
I think all these guys are more likely to go early first round.
But here's the late first round.
But if the tackles go late first round,
if the wide receivers go late first round,
at the edge I'll go late first round.
Like one of those three positions is going to drop.
And what I'm here to tell you is,
whether it be Kayla Blumoo, Monroe Freeling,
Caden Proctor, Blake Miller,
or the last guy in this tier
before there's a big drop-off,
and I think there's a mini drop off after Blake Miller
to get the Max Ian Accor
from Arizona State.
6-5-321, 4-34-5-inch arms.
He is an older guy at 24.3.
Didn't start playing football until college, though.
Played soccer growing up.
I think I said basketball the first time I talked about
in Accor.
It was soccer, not basketball.
But great frame.
Stocky build, great length,
has good range.
because he's got those soccer feet really good at mirroring guys and pass protection
and has super high upside because he's only been playing football for three years.
If he creates more power when he adds strength as a weightlifter,
gets better balance with experience, better with his IQ of knowing where to go,
knowing what his assignment is, when to use certain techniques,
how to operate with twists and stunts.
If you can teach him that stuff, you're gonna have an elite athlete athletes,
with good technique and that's going to be a good offensive tackle.
Now, he's an older prospect again, so I think some teams will knock him like,
you're a development guy and you're already 24 years old.
That's not a great combination because even if we get you good,
you're good by 26, three years, four years on the rookie contract.
Now you're 29 years old, 28 years old.
Do we want to give you a second contract?
So I wouldn't take in a core unless he got the 35,
maybe a baby trade back would be a better option,
but if Spencer Fano, Caleb Loomoo,
Caden Proctor, Blake Miller,
if those guys dropped to pick number 35,
I think you take them.
And we talk so much about supporting Cam Ward.
If the edge rushers and the wide receivers go off the board early
and it pushes the offensive tackles down,
then take the best player and take a guy who can replace Dan Moore
and keep Cam Ward healthy for the next 7 to 8.
years. So I hated it early on in the draft process, but as I've seen the talent,
as I've learned about the players, as I've seen what I, the way I think the
draft will go, I love the idea of getting certain offensive tackles, either
late in the first round with a trade back or with the second round pick, pick
number 35. Do you guys think I'm crazy? Let me know down below in the comments
or hit me up on social media and let me know but now it's time to talk
about more of the mid-round targets where I think it becomes more likely that the Titan strike for an offensive tackle.

Let's continue today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
Again, taking a look at the offensive tackle group.
I talked about the offensive tackles in my tier one
that I would take for the Titans late in the first round,
early in the second round at the opportunity arose.
but now we need to get maybe a little more realistic
with the offensive tackle options
that the Tennessee Titans could be looking at.
Before we do want to thank you again
for making Locked on Titans, Your First Listen,
each and every day.
Remember tomorrow we're going to be going over
guard and center options
and that may be the more important positions
to look at here if the Titans go status quo
of what we expect because they need to add starters
on the interior offensive line
and rounds three to five are a prime time to do it
and that's basically where all the interior offensive linemen.
If you consider Spencer Fano a center,
then he would be the number one interior offensive lineman.
But after that, most of them come into play starting in the second round.
So that would be an interesting conversation then.
But the next tier of offensive tackles, to me,
is kind of a dangerous place.
Because I don't know if any of them are good enough to actually be starters,
but at the same time, like, they're good enough to get an opportunity
for people to think that they could be a starter?
Because the number one guy on that list to me is Caleb Tiernan.
The guy out of Northwestern, he's 6'7, 323 pounds,
did run an 8.083 cone, which is very alarming to me,
incredibly short arms at 32 and a quarter.
He's also old at 23.3 years old.
Like, Tiernan is the next best tackle,
but with all of those things against him,
I don't know how the Titans could justify that kind of pick
in like the third round or at once.
101 even. You know, to be that tall and have that short of arms is a deadly combination.
Because smaller edge rushers, you're not going to be able to reach them and you're too high up to
get to him. So it's just a nightmare, really a devastating build for Caleb Tiernan.
The three cone is not good so the agility isn't where it needs to be. Again, an older guy at 23 years old.
That's older than any of the guys we talked about in the first tier except Max I and a core or Ian of course.
So Caleb Tirenin is probably the next guy on most people's list,
but I don't think he makes a lot of sense for the Tennessee Titans personally.
Even with the, he's got a ton of experience.
He's played for four years.
Good linear athlete doesn't have great agility or quickness,
but he's a good linear athlete with decent range,
but just the length, the lack of anchor,
the lack of pop in the hands,
the lack of balance for a guy who should be a good athlete at that size.
If you don't have power, you better give me athleticism.
It's kind of a worst of both worlds for Caleb Tiren in from a skill set and from a measurement standpoint.
A guy who I would take a chance on.
Not in the third round, but at Pick 101,
maybe if the Titans move into the 120s.
We're really getting in this range.
Everybody else that I'm talking about is probably after pick one.
I'm not using Pick 101 on any of these guys.
These would be fifth round pick.
So 142, 144, 184.
the range that we're in now. Demetrius crown over out of Texas A&M. I've talked about them on the show
before but this is the kind of build I think the Titans would take a chance on. 6 foot 6.320 pounds
35.6.6 inch arms. That is the length the Titans are looking for in at 6 6.320 with 35 inch arms
ran a 7.883 cone now 7.7.7.7.7.
is really the cutoff for me at 3-cone, as I mentioned earlier.
But at this late, where I'm talking about, you know, 142, 144,
if you get Demetri, I don't think he'll last that long
because at 22 years old with those measurements and agility testing,
the frame, the length, the motor.
He's a nasty finisher.
He plays through the whistle.
Got really, really good feet for a guy his size.
He's able to recover and change his feet
during the middle of the play if he were to get beat.
initially and
you know
if you like
Caden Proctor
I think a discount version
is Demetrius crown over
because he is going to move
people on those double teams
where the guard engages
and then the tackle comes and hits the hip over
he gets movement
on those and the Titans
are going to be a gap run scheme
mostly it's a multiple
scheme with mid zone
inside zone some outside zone
but a lot of gap runs too.
And on those gap runs
where you're going to have a backside pulling guard
and the front side guard and tackle
need to displace the defensive tackle with a double team.
He's going to be able to do that.
Absolutely.
Now, the lateral agility,
sometimes his hands get a little too wide.
He needs to be better with his hand placement,
his strike power, his strike technique.
He's got to get better with that stuff.
But at 22 years old,
with that length and that frame,
the mobile feet,
I would take a chance on Demetrius crown over personally.
I like crown over there.
The next guy is Diego Pounds.
Out of Ole Miss,
and I'm not as high on Pounds as some others.
He's 6.5, 325,
only 33.8 inch arm,
so it doesn't have that elite length.
7.93 cone,
and he's 23.4 years old.
So older, less length.
He's got a good frame, he's got a good anchor.
He played in the SEC, so he's seen the best competition.
You know, he's got some decent foot quickness,
but really raw from a technique standpoint and pass protection,
does not have good hands,
doesn't have good lateral agility to move side to side and have range.
Loses his balance.
He has a tendency to lunge forward,
probably because he doesn't have super long arms.
Diego Pounds, like a Caleb Tiernan,
doesn't bring enough good.
to the table for the Titans to justify picking him
where they would have to pick him. Now the next guy,
I'm taking this guy if he gets to 142.
Markell Bell from Miami.
Blocked in front of Cam Ward, 6-8-346.
36-inch arms.
Yes, 36.
I mean, it reminds me of DeWan Jones from Ohio State a couple of years
who went to the Browns, had a good year for the Browns,
but has been injured a ton because he's just too big.
You know what I mean?
But Mark El Bell is a monster.
6-8-350, 36-inch arms.
That alone, you know, he's a mountain.
He truly is a mountain of a man.
He's a monster.
That might just work in itself.
I would take Markle Bell and let him be a backup to Dan Moore.
He's a mover too.
he can move. He'll get off the line of scrimmage.
You know, he's got incredible length, like I said, drive and power.
He is going to bully you off the line of scrimmage.
Great upside, man.
A guy that big, just based on that size.
Like, that's major upside.
But he can be too tall.
People can get underneath him.
They can slide around him if they're able to stay low.
He's not super quick.
Now, he's a mover like once he gets going, he can go.
But he's not, boom, boom, boom, boom.
You know, super quick.
bouncing the feet and everything. But, again, the chemistry he had with Cam Ward seemed to work well
then. I would take Mark Elbelle in the fifth round. I'd do it. Like, let's take a chance on that.
see if Carmen Priscilla can get the most out of them. And in the Titan scheme, I think he fits.
J.C. Davis is the last guy in this tier before we get to late day three dark throws.
J.C. Davis out of Illinois, 6'4, 322 pounds, 3 4, 324.
a quarter inch arm.
So we're over the 34 inch arm threshold that I'm kind of interested in
for Titans offensive tackles.
7.89 on the three cone, so not elite agility.
He's 22 and a half years old, but he's got a ton of experience.
He's played a ton of football, Illinois.
He's thick, he's strong, he's got smart hands.
He knows technique, where to punch at, the timing on it.
Doesn't have great anchor, doesn't play with great balance.
And when you're 6 foot 4, 320, you're kind of smaller.
You don't have elite length.
Again, we're talking about 35, 36 inch arms on some of these guys.
He's at 34 and a quarter, which is moderate.
But when you don't have, you're not too tall, you don't have elite length,
you're expected to be a little bit better of an athlete than J.C. Davis is.
It doesn't quite have the balance.
He's a guy who, I could see him moving into guard.
that's what I could see.
Now, speaking of moving into guard,
there's a couple of offensive tackles
that I want to talk about here
who I think are just round six,
round seven dart throws.
But the reality is,
if we look at the offensive tackles
that the Tennessee Titans had visits with
and contact with,
that might be the round and the range
that the Titans are actually looking to get one in.
Fans, let's cap off.
Today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast
breaking down the offensive tackle group
in the NFL.
It is not a great offensive tackle group.
I talked about my top tier guys who I think the Titans could look at in a trade down
or maybe at the second round mark.
I talked about the mid-round guys and there aren't really a ton of options
that I like outside of Demetrius Crownover and Markle Bell.
But the Titans again could be looking for a day three dart throw.
Before I tell you who they are, do want to thank you again
for making Locked on Titans your first list each and every day.

It's basically the cost of a cup of coffee each month.
The show's free all year round, bonus episodes every day now.
It's a small way to support me and support the show.
But with that being said, again, day three dart throws.
We know that the Tennessee Titans have had visits with Tristan Lee out of Clemson
and Travis Burke out of.
Memphis and they're kind of in this range with another guy like Emil Wagner from Notre Dame.
65-306, 34.6 inch arms.
Amil Wagner has great length there.
Had an 8.02-3 cone not close to the threshold that I'm looking for.
He's 22.6 years old.
Look, he's got a decent frame.
He's built thick.
Got good length.
Plays with good range.
Like he can get out there and stop the speed rushers.
Use his independent hands.
Like he can use his right in his left hand.
differently at different times.
That's very important.
He's an okay mover.
But again, for 306 pounds,
I'm gonna need you to be a lot quicker than you are.
I'm gonna need your feet to be better than they are.
He's not good in recovery.
He doesn't have good footwork.
His feet can get too close together.
He'll clicking together and things like that.
Emil Wagner is just a guy I'm not interested in.
He doesn't bring enough high-end upside to the table
for me to even take him round six, round seven.
Drew Shelton is the next guy.
out of Penn State, 6-5-313, 33-5-inch arms, 22.3 years old.
He's a good athlete, which you need to be for that size.
He's got good twitch, you know, he's a good mover, he's got good quickness,
gets off the line of scrimmage, that gives him good range with his feet to meet edge rushers
and speed rangers at the pocket.
He's going to hit his targets at the second level in the run game because he's a good
mover, good in space, but he's just not overly strong.
His hands don't have a lot of power or strength to him.
It doesn't really drive guys.
His feet can get stopped and things like that.
So not a lot of power to him,
which means that I don't know if he can kick inside.
And since he doesn't have elite length or elite size,
I'm not as interested in a guy like Drew Shelton.
Austin Barber, though, out of Florida.
I am a little interested in him as a round six dart throw.
6-6-3-18, 33 and a third-inch arm.
So I wish there was more length there,
but if there were, he would probably go higher.
22.7.
Very good hand pop.
When he hit you with the hands, you feel it.
He's a fluid mover for a guy who's 6 foot 6.
He uses like the snatch technique thing
where he gets inside the edge rusher's chest
and can throw him down.
Has good anchor.
He's only 318 pounds but has good anchor.
Really good set technique
the way he's at whether he wants to jump out
at the edge rusher,
vertical, go backwards,
get a little more width to him.
You know, he can do a bunch of different things in that way.
So, smart technique.
He just doesn't have great range because he doesn't have great quickness.
Especially going backwards.
His feet, his ability to recover is a concern.
He's got to learn how to use independent hands as well.
That's something that he doesn't do right now.
He's more of a two-handed pusher.
And for a guy his age, with his length,
you want to see him be better with his hands
so that he's a little bit better of a player.
usable. I don't know if they'll ever be a starter
but would be a worthy development guy
that way. And then we get to the two guys I mentioned earlier. Tristan Lee
who the Titans met with out of Clemson, 6'4, 380 pounds, 34 inch arms,
he's 23 years old. I actually think that Tristan Lee
would play guard.
I think the Titans might take him as a guy they think could play guard
because he's a good athlete. He's got good length,
really strong hands to push people around
he just doesn't have the power to play outside at offensive tackle
and take on bull rushes and speed to power
and his balance can get thrown off when he's out there in space
so put him in a phone booth at guard
I think that would make more sense
if the Titans draft Tristan Lee
I think it's for him to play guard
not to play tackle but not this guy
Travis Burke out of Memphis
6-8
325
34 and a quarter inch arms.
Great size.
Strong hands.
When he gets his hands on you, you know it.
And for a guy who's 6-8, he bends at the waist pretty good.
He can get down and anchor up.
And he plays nasty, man.
There are videos out there on Twitter of him just like ragdolling dudes to the ground.
Now he's got to play with better technique.
Being that tall, he can be too tall.
Guys can get underneath him.
He's not going to be super agile at that size.
He's a bit lumbering.
His get off on the line of scrimmage, not good enough,
not explosive off the line of scrimmage.
And that could hurt him.
You know, guys could get around him, cross his face, stuff like that.
But if we're taking an offensive tackle
and we want somebody to develop behind the scenes for a couple of years,
I'm taking the 6 foot 8, 300.
It's the same way I feel about Markell Bell earlier in the draft.
Give me, if I'm taking offensive tackle in the fifth round or later,
they better have high-end upside.
I'm not taking one of these guys who's just average
or mediocre everywhere,
might just be a swing tackle at best.
Give me one of these monsters,
these six-foot-eight monsters
who have high-end potential and high-end upside.
Like Demetrius Crownover,
Markell Bell, Austin Barber, Travis Burke.
Give me someone like that.
And we're going to go after an offensive tackle
late in the draft.
But again, on tomorrow's show,
I'm going to look at the interior offensive line where the Titans absolutely must get a starter.
But with that in mind, that's going to do it for me today, folks.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
