Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans SPEND BIG in FREE AGENCY with MASSIVE MOVES & BIGGEST REMAINING NEEDS TO ATTACK
Episode Date: March 9, 2026The Tennessee Titans SPEND BIG on the first day of free agency with deals to Wan'Dale Robinson, Mitch Trubisky and Daniel Bellinger on offense and John Franklin-Myers, Alontae Taylor and CorDale Flott... on defense. These were mostly fantastic moves at big spots of need for the Titans and every move makes a ton of sense. What comes next now? The Titans still need help on the interior offensive line, on the edge and need depth at linebacker, safety and running back. How much more can we realistically expect them to do? Tyler goes over the remaining options in free agency. Finally, Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi opened the checkbook on Monday and some may push back like they spent too much, but that doesn't really make any sense considering the Titans don't really have anyone to spend on in the coming years and will not be hurt by any of the deals they signed today. Seven different signings.
I'm going to break them all down, tell you exactly what you need to know.
Also, we got to talk about what's going to come next for the Tennessee Titans
because they still have needs that need to be addressed.
And I'm going to tell you why you should tell all the cry babies out there to shut
up the Titans were smart to spend all of that chat. Before we get into it, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans.

But with that being said, a massive day for the Tennessee Titans.
Last that I talked to you guys, they had signed three players on the offensive side of the ball,
Wondale Robinson, Daniel Bellinger, and Mitch Trubisky.
But as soon as I got done with that, the Titans went nuts on the defensive side of the ball.
and that is where we start because my favorite signing of the day was John Franklin Myers.
John Franklin Myers, a massive interior defensive lineman can play defensive end,
can play defensive tackle, is going to rush from the interior on passing downs.
John Franklin Myers and Jeffrey Simmons together is absolute chaos.
This dude is fast, he's strong, he is violent, he is dominant up front,
one of the best versatile interior defensive lineman in the entire NFL.
The Tennessee Titans give him three years.
$63 million with $42 million guaranteed.
That is a massive contract, but well-earned and well-deserved John Franklin Myers.
Now back with Robert Sulla in his defense.
I did a film breakdown on John Franklin Myers over at the Tick-Tac Titans film channel.
If you guys are subscribed to Locked on Titans,
which getting closer to 200,000 or 20,000 subscribers
need you guys to hit that subscribe button.
You gotta head over to the Tick-Tac Titans YouTube channel
and make sure that you get all the film analysis
that I'm given to you guys for free all year round as well.
But John Franklin Myers, my favorite signing.
I've been talking about JFM as an option for the Titans
since the moment that Robert Sala was hired,
he is one of the most underrated players.
And again, him and Jeffrey Simmons rushing from the interior,
We are about to demolish quarterbacks and offensive lines all season long, absolutely nuts.
But the Titans went even more crazy at cornerback.
They signed two different cornerbacks, and they got my guy.
They got my number one cornerback on the market.
They brought him back to Tennessee.
Alante Taylor.
I mean, I could not be more excited about getting Alante Taylor on this football team.
He is big.
He is physical.
He can play anywhere at the cornerback spot,
whether it's outside, whether it's inside in the slot.
He is one of just the best versatile options out there.
He is going to get in your face only 27 years old,
and he is a Tennessee native.
So you are bringing back a native son to the state of Tennessee.
He is excellent in zone coverage,
66% zone coverage last year with the New Orleans Saints.
Brandon Staley runs a ton of cover four and cover three, just like Robert Sala.
I mean, what an excellent fit.
Now, they paid out the wazoo for Alante Taylor.
More than I thought Alante Taylor was going to get three years, $60 million,
$42 million guaranteed, but Alante Taylor is a monster of a cornerback.
And if you remember watching the Titans Saints game,
he balled out against the Tennessee Titans.
He was all over the field during that game.
We're talking about a guy who will press you at the line of scrimmage,
who can drop back in zone, who can play man coverage,
who can blitz into the backfield,
will come up and run defense and smack you.
Alante Taylor was the best cornerback in free agency,
and now he is back home in Tennessee with the Tennessee Titans.
Now, the other signing that caught me off guard, I did not expect,
and it's funny, I get you guys so prepared for free agency
that if they signed someone that I didn't talk about,
everybody's tagging me like, Tyler, why did you not talk about this guy?
How could you?
How dare you not prepare me for this signing?
But Cordell Flott is a guy who I did not expect the Titans to sign.
And I'll tell you the honest truth.
Why?
He has tiny baby arms.
30-inch arms, 4-540.
He is not fast and he is not long.
And the Titans have been telling us they want speed and length at the cornerback position.
They give him three years, $45 million with $32 million guaranteed.
again, caught me off guard.
But the former New York Giant,
when you start to look into the tape
and you start to look into the film,
excellent sticky player in coverage.
Now, is he a big guy?
No, he's a very slender guy.
He's only 24 years old, though.
So a guy who still has the capacity to get better
and New York Giants fans were freaking out
when Cordell Flot got signed.
And there was a report out there from Connor Hughes
from the New York media
that said,
Cordell Flott was a big.
about to go back to the New York Giants.
He literally had everything but his signature on the paper
set to go back to the New York Giants
and then Robert Sala called him and said,
listen, this is what I'm gonna do with you in my defense.
This is how we want to use you in Tennessee.
We're about to take you to the next level
and he told the Giants, no, I'm going to Tennessee.
What a job by Robert Sala to recruit
and get this man to flip his commitment
from the New York Jets to the Titans.
Absolutely fantastic.
And the thing about Flot is, he's not like Alante Taylor.
Taylor is physical, feisty, blitz, run defense, whatever you want.
Swiss Army knife type guy inside, outside doesn't.
Cordell Flott is an outside cornerback who is great in zone coverage.
No, he's not going to press up on you.
He's going to play off coverage, but he has great recovery, great IQ, and great ball skills.
This is a guy who's going to attack the football relentlessly when he's out in coverage.
Cordell Flott is an under-known guy, an underrated type guy,
but you should see the way that Giants fans are melting down online right now
because Cordell Flott flipped on them to come to the Tennessee Titans.
Absolutely magnificent.
So I will admit, out of all the signings,
Cordell Flott is the one that I'm like,
I don't know about that one.
But the more I dive into the film, the more I learn about him as a player, the more excited that I get.
And again, cornerback was the biggest need for the Tennessee Titans this all season.
I've been trying to tell you guys, they have no one to play cornerback.
So going out and getting two starting cornerbacks, including the number one cornerback on the market,
I mean, over the moon excited.
What a great job by the Tennessee Titans to go out and attack these big positions of need.
And speaking of that, of course, wide receiver.
I talked about Wondell Robinson on my episode earlier today.
Titans go out, they give him four years.
And let me just say,
there are some people.
I understand that when you cover a football team,
you don't necessarily have to be a fan of the football team.
Sometimes it's bad to be a fan of the football team
and cover that same football team
because you could have bias and this and that.
But there are clearly people out there
who cover this football team
who try to sell doom and gloom
and sell fear and scare tactics and nonsense.
Talking about, oh, Robinson at 19.5 million,
it was reported by Jordan Shultz the moment that the contract came out
that it was a four-year deal for Wondell Robinson for $70 million
with $8 million of incentives.
It could go up to $78 million.
And $38 million guaranteed.
All right, so everybody's out there like, oh, it's four years, $80 million.
It's $38 million guaranteed.
All right, that's not that expensive.
Quit selling doom and gloom and trying to make everybody mad and angry
and trying to rage bait your audience.
It's just despicable stuff.
All right, but regardless, obviously I love the Wondale Robinson fit.
I told you, Wondell Robinson, John Franklin Myers, Cody Bellinger, Mitch Trubisky.
I've been telling you guys about these options that the Titans were going to go get for weeks now.
slot wide receiver. No, he's not a wide receiver one.
He wasn't paid like a wide receiver one.
He's getting $17.5 million a year.
Go look at wide receiver salaries in the NFL if you want to see what a wide receiver one looks like.
You know who actually got wide receiver one money?
Alec Pierce at $29 million.
I told you guys, I did not want Alec Pierce if he was over $28 million.
I would rather take Wondale Robinson between 15 and 18.
He is such a great schematic fit in the offense.
He can beat man coverage.
He can sit in the holes of the zone.
He has the ability to win vertically down the field.
He's good in the scramble drill.
Great in the RPO game.
A chain mover type guy that can keep the Titans drives going forward.
Something that I've been saying a lot is
he is basically an NFL level talent version of a Xavier Restrepo,
which is what Cam Ward worked with so well.
And getting him back in Brian Dable's system
to teach the offense to the rest of the wide receivers
and bridge that gap between coach and player.
It's a magnificent move,
which is why we were excited about it
for weeks after I heard about it at the NFL Combine.
So love the Wondell Robinson fit.
Go to the Tick-Tat Titans YouTube channel.
I have my film breakdown on Wondale Robinson.
Out right now, both him and JFM.
They're out, go check them out,
and I'll have Alante Taylor and Cordell Flott coming soon.
The final signings that I want to do.
talk about here. Smaller depth signings on the offensive side of the ball.
Daniel Bellinger, three years, 24 million dollars, 14 million guaranteed and again
there are people out there saying oh they overpaid for Daniel Bellinger this is
is crazy. It's seven million dollars guaranteed per year. His cap hit this year is
five million dollars. The cap for the Titans is 319 million. You're telling me that
five million dollars on 319 million dollars of cap is an overpay. It is a
absurd. People selling doom and gloom. It's a great day to be a Tennessee Titans fan.
This is exactly what we wanted the Titans to do. Go out there, make a splash,
get good players at positions of need, be smart with the money, and that's exactly what they did.
Given Daniel Bellinger $5 million in year one on the cap, it's less than 2% of the Titan salary cap space.
It's 1% of the Titan salary cap space.
So sorry that I'm not gonna get on here and be like, oh, you guys should freak out.
They overpaid Daniel Bellinger.
Like, what are we talking about here?
It's absolute nonsense.
They didn't overpay Daniel Bellinger.
That's the perfect price.
6 to $8 million per season,
$5 million on the salary cap.
That's exactly what a tight end of his caliber
is supposed to get.
And he's going to be tight end too
because Gunner Helm, who's on a rookie contract
from the fourth round
who costs literally a nickel and a dime,
all right?
They can pay Daniel Bellinger $5 million
instead of what?
Two and a half, three.
The cap just went up $20 million.
An $8 million a year contract right now is basically a $5 million a year contract last year.
So again, doom and gloom nonsense.
I'm not buying into that.
They paid Daniel Bellinger exactly what he's supposed to be paid.
And a real true tight end one or tight end two that can pair with Gunner Helm that can block,
line up next to the tackle, run routes, split out when they go empty.
He can literally do everything.
He knows Brian Dable's offense and can teach it to the other tight ends.
Like, it's literally a perfect depth player, which is why on last night's show,
I predicted that they would sign Daniel Bellinger,
because it makes so much sense.
Same thing with Mitch Trubisky.
I don't got to sit here and sell this to you.
He's one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL.
He knows Brian Dable's system from their year together in the Buffalo Bills.
If Cam Ward needs to be out for a couple of weeks because there's an injury or something,
he can hold down the fort, get the Titans a win or two,
keep the season moving forward.
Mitch Trubisky is a perfect backup quarterback
for what the Titans want to do.
Knows the scheme, knows the system,
knows the coaching, and is a good backup.
We don't even know the numbers on it yet,
but I bet it's like two, we know it's a two-year deal.
I bet it's two years,
10 to 12 million dollars, maybe $14 million at max,
$7, $8 million per year.
That's just regular standard good backup quarterback money,
not some massive overpay or anything like that.
And then the final signing that we just got
before the Titans went on, is Austin Schlotman.
All right.
I heard of Austin Schlotman.
Guess what?
I haven't either.
Okay?
Like, who?
Who is Austin Schlotman?
But he's an interior offensive lineman
that played center for four games
for the Giants last year.
He started four games.
And a lot of Giants fans say
that he's better than John Michael Schmitz
who was supposed to be their starting center.
He's 6 foot 6, 300 pounds,
so a big-bodied interior offensive lineman
with length.
He's 30 years old.
He's a guy who I don't think is the starting center.
We're going to talk about the starting center
because the Titans still need to go out and get a starting center.
But Schlotman is basically the new core 11.
He could start at center in a pinch.
He's primarily a backup.
Just another depth player from the New York Giants offense
that Brian Dable knows so well.
Nothing to freak out about.
But what do the Titans need to do next?
Let me know your favorite free agent signing down below in the comments
or hit me up on social media.
Now we talk about the needs that remain.

Fans, let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast,
breaking down a wild day one in free agency.
We went over the seven Tennessee Titans signings,
and we talked about each of them, how they fit, what the price is.
Now we've got to talk about what comes next for the Tennessee Titans.
Before I dive in, I want to thank you again for making Locked on Titans.

Free Tennessee Titans content.
Make sure that you never miss an episode and stay locked in with the Locked on Titans podcast.
But what do they do next?
The number one thing that the Tennessee Titans still need to address is the starting interior offensive linemen.
Look, I know a lot of people out there are saying that Austin Schlotman has starting potential.
You know, he played better for the Giants as the starting center last year.
But he's just a core 11 replacement, in my opinion.
He's a bigger-bodied core 11 replacement.
The Titans still need to go out and get a starting center
and a starting right guard in front of Cam Ward.
And honestly, a lot of options came off the board.
I mean, we saw Cade Mays go to Detroit.
We saw Tyler Linderbaum go to Las Vegas Raiders.
We know that Beaudish was already off the table.
We know that Connor McGovern went back to Buffalo.
But just as things look dark for the Tennessee Titans,
the skies open.
And Elton Jenkins was cut by the Green Bay Packers.
And if you don't want to believe me
that the Titans should go out and get Elkton Jenkins,
then go look at Jeffrey Simmons' Twitter account
where he retweeted the news of Elkton Jenkins getting released
with the eye emoji.
Jeffrey Simmons wants Elkton Jenkins.
I want Elton Jenkins.
This is a guy who's dealt with injuries, all right?
There's no doubt about it.
He has dealt with injuries,
but he is a former all-pro level.
level player, 6 foot 5, 310 pounds. He's played tackle, he's played guard, he's played center, wherever you want him.
He's a two-time pro bowler as well, and hey, he's dealt with injuries. This year he only played nine games, but the year before that, 17 games.
The year before that, 15 games. The year before that, 15 games. This isn't a dude who's missed a ton of time throughout his career. He's had two big injuries, and they've cost him time in two different seasons.
but the last time he played less than 15 games was 2021.
So I will take a chance on Elkton Jenkins,
a former all-pro, pro-bowl level talent from the Green Bay Packers offensive line
who Chad Brinker has to know very, very well from his time in Green Bay.
Elkton Jenkins would be a perfect option.
And again, whether he plays guard, whether he plays center,
something bad happens and he has to play tackle.
He has the capability to do it all.
So a place where I will tell you, I'm not selling dude,
doom and gloom on today's show because I think it's ridiculous on a day like today.
But it is fair to look at the center position and be like,
ugh, what are the Titans doing there?
But Elkton Jenkins would be a perfect solve for that situation
and the fact that he just got released today on Monday in the afternoon, late evening.
I guess you want to call it late afternoon, early afternoon.
I don't really care.
He got released by the Green Bay Packers after all these other guys are off the board.
So the Bears traded for Garrett Bradbury.
all the other guys that I told you got signed.
So it is almost just absolutely perfect
that the Titans who are kind of sitting there like,
how are we going to get a center?
Gets a great option on the market
after a lot of the other big players
are already off the board
and the teams with the biggest needs are already off the board.
It is a perfect setup for the Tennessee Titans
to go out and get him.
And look, if they don't get Elton Jenkins,
I will still go with Dylan Parra,
who I told you the Titans would sign
on last night.
prediction episode.
Parham came from the Las Vegas Raiders.
He's worked with Carmen Brissileau,
the Titans offensive line coach.
He has played mostly at guard, right guard, left guard.
But he also has played 200 snaps at center,
started a couple of games at center,
and there were a lot of people when Parham came out of college
thinking, hey, he could play center at the next level.
And he played center with Carmen Bracillo
when Bracillo was still the offensive line coach
with the Las Vegas Raiders.
So I see an opportunity there,
Not only that, Titans, are they going to bring back Kevin Zitler?
36 years old.
I wouldn't be that mad if the Titans moved on from Kevin Zitler to look for a younger option.
Now, Zitler is a good player.
He had the best, the best in the NFL pressure rate allowed at the right guard position last year, 2.9%.
So Kevin Zytler is still a good player, but he's 36 years old.
Again, will the Titans want to look for somebody who is a little bit younger and can grow with the team?
I think the Titans bring in Dylan Parham, whether he plays guard,
whether he plays center, remadens to be seen,
but that makes a ton of sense.
I think the other interior offensive linemen that they add,
whether that's Zitler, whether that's Jenkins,
that'll really tell us what the deal for Parham is going forward.
But I would still keep your eyes peeled on Dylan Parham
as an interior offensive lineman for the Tennessee Titans.
I think that's a perfect fit.
He's a younger guy at about 25, 26 years old
who could still grow with the team.
Now, other options at guard,
If the Titans don't go with Kevin Zitler, they don't bring in Elton Jenkins,
they don't bring in Dylan Parham to play guard.
Maybe they have them at center.
We still have Wyatt Teller out there.
That's a guy who's 31 years old,
had some injuries as well,
but it's been a really good player throughout his career.
And then another guy who makes sense is Elijah Vera Tucker.
Now, Vera Tucker also had some injuries,
but is a very good player.
Like Elijah Vera Tucker is a Pro Bowl level guard,
but he has just dealt with injuries during his time with the New York Jets.
He's had three season-ending injuries.
So would the Titans take a chance on him?
I don't think so, but there was still a ton of good talent out there at Guard right now
that the Titans can go and get.
And that's why the Titans went and got cornerback.
That's why the Titans got a wide receiver.
They got an interior defensive lineman.
The tight end market moved.
The Titans went out and got guys who they simply cannot wait on.
All right?
So guard, center.
the options are off the market now.
The rest of the center's remaining,
the rest of the guards remaining
are not guys that you need to go out
and overpay and throw big dollars at to get.
So the Titans still have a ton of options
for the interior offensive line.
I am not concerned about that,
but I'm curious how they divvy those out
and what they do.
Now, edge rusher.
The Titans did not add an edge rusher at all.
Now, John Franklin Myers
has versatility to play out on the edge.
He could play defensive end
for the Tennessee Titans.
on early downs against the run.
But you don't want John Franklin Myers
lining up as a defensive end on pass rush downs.
That's not what he does well.
Let him attack guards and centers
him and Jeffrey Simmons together.
But, Trey Hendrickson,
I told you guys the Titans were not going to sign Trey Hendrickson.
That it wasn't going to happen,
that they weren't in on him,
and I still believe that that's the case.
But here's the reality.
Trey Hendrickson is still available.
He's still out there.
Arnold Ebakete still out there.
It's getting thin. Adafay Owe goes to the commanders.
Jalen Phillips, $30 million a year for Jalen Phillips.
You had five sacks last year.
What?
$30 million a year for five sacks last year and a ton of injury history?
What are the Panthers doing there?
But either way, Oway Phillips, off the board.
Boyer Maffe goes to Cincinnati.
Kings Lianne Gbara goes off the board, I think, to the New York Jets.
There are not a ton of great options remaining on the edge
other than Trey Hendrickson, Quitty Pay.
goes to the Las Vegas Raiders.
So between Hedrickson and Arnold Ebakete,
who's more of a speed rusher,
which I think is what the Titans need right now, in my opinion.
They have a lot of strength.
They have a lot of beef.
Germaine Johnson is a trade that was made.
He's more of a strong pass rusher with power.
The Titans need some speed rusher at the edge,
and Epiquete could offer that,
but they're looking at a tough spot in edge.
And while a lot of people are looking at what's happened
at running back in the NFL and saying,
Titans are guaranteed to get Jeremiah Love.
I'm looking at that I'm saying
the Titans are going to take an edge rusher at number four.
That's personally what I believe
has always been the case.
And I think Titans fans are getting a little over their skis
thinking that it's a lock that they're going to take Jeremiah Love.
I don't think that that's a lock.
I think if the Titans could draft number one right now,
they'd be taking Arvel Reese or David Bailey.
I don't think they would take Jeremiah Love.
So just keep that in the back of your mind
because some of you guys are Jeremiah Love or Bus,
Jeremiah Love or Bust, and I just,
I don't think that's what the Titans are actually thinking right now,
in my personal opinion.
But either way, at EdgeRusher,
unless they go get Trey Hendrickson,
that's still going to be a major need going forward,
but they can't solve everything in one off season.
So it makes sense that something would have to go on the backburn
or an EdgeRusher with O'A getting $25 million a year
and Phillips getting 30 million a year.
I mean, Boye, Malfe!
Got $20 million per year.
Yeah, I ain't getting in that market if I'm the Tennessee Titans.
linebacker is going to be an interesting one.
I thought that the Tennessee Titans would make a big splash at linebacker
and go get Devin Lloyd.
I do not believe that's going to be the case anymore.
They use that other big splash signing on Alante Taylor at cornerback,
which is something that we discussed on last night's show.
But what do they do at linebacker now?
Maybe they just roll with Cody Barton,
but Tremaine Edmonds got signed by the New York Giants.
So to me, the last guy's remaining that makes sense,
Bobby O'Caricay.
another New York giant
I know that's going to make everybody angry
for some reason
there's this thought out here
that if a team is bad
all their players are bad
if a team is bad
all of their coaches are bad
have you guys ever worked at a job
where you have a terrible boss
have you ever worked at a terrible
company that you worked at
doesn't mean that you suck
I've worked at some terrible companies
I've had some terrible bosses
it doesn't mean that I'm a bad worker
or that I'm terrible at my job
that's not how that
works. So just because a guy was on the Giants and the Giants were bad last year
doesn't mean that they're a terrible player. Just because a guy was a coach for a team
last year that didn't do good doesn't mean that they're a terrible coach. That's not how
life works. So I don't like all this crybaby and about oh they're just taking a bunch
of ex-Grients. Yeah, it's people who know Brian Daibald's system.
What like what are we complaining about? Either way, Bobby O'Caricay, who was a
former New York giant last year, has worked under Dave Borganzi,
the Titans linebacker coach, has
worked under Brian Dable, has worked under Gus Bradley. He makes a ton of sense as a coverage
linebacker with length in the middle of the defense. So I think the Titans still go out there and they
add a depth linebacker. I would prefer a Bobby O'Caricay. Maybe a guy like Quay Walker who's
kind of a knucklehead, if we're being honest. But Quincy Williams is still out there, although
I'm not nearly as high on Quincy Williams as some of you guys need to be. We have a better,
younger version in Cedric Gray. I don't need a Quincy Williams.
I need somebody to pair with Cedric Gray who's better in coverage.
And I think O'Caricay does fit that bill.
Now, Robert Sala is a linebacker savant.
He has developed, and Dre Greenlaw just got released.
He's more of a Cedric Gray-Will linebacker run and chase guy, though,
not the coverage-centric linebacker that I'm interested in.
So if I'm Robert Sala,
I'm just going to go draft a linebacker in a really good linebacker class
and do what I've done my entire career,
and that's turned mid-round linebackers into absolute superstars.
We're doing that at linebacker at this point
if the Titans don't want to go out and pay for Devin Lloyd,
and I'll be honest with you.
I don't see the Titans going out and giving another big-time splash deal
to Trey Hendrickson, Devin Lloyd.
I just don't see it at this point.
They got John Franklin Myers, Wondale Robinson, and Alante Taylor.
Those were the big-time deals.
So with that being said, though, they need depth at safety as well.
Maybe they bring Kevin Byard back.
doubt it. He's going to go back to Chicago. Jason Penknock is who I'm going to
continue to pound the table for. Depth safety. Been good in Robert
Salah's defense at multiple stops. Can play the big nickel, can play back
deep. Jason Penknock is a guy that I would do a reunion with with Robert Salah.
Now running back. Running back is a big spot that people thought
the Titans would go out and pay big money for. They did not. I told you
last week the Titans are not signing Kenneth Walker. I had heard it.
I had talked to people and I tried to get
you guys ready, they were not going to do that. Kenneth Walker goes to Kansas City,
Tyler Algier, who I liked a lot, goes to Arizona, Travis E.T.N.
goes to New Orleans.
And I know what you guys are thinking. Just like I talked about before.
Well, if the Cardinals got Tyler Algier and brought back James Connor,
the Chiefs paid $15 million a year to Kenneth Walker.
Well, the Chiefs aren't going to trade up for Jeremiah Love and the Cardinals surely
aren't going to take a running back at number three after those moves,
which sets up Jeremiah Love to the Tennessee Titans.
And again, I'm for it.
I'm open to love.
I like Jeremiah Love.
I will be happy if they take him.
But I still think the Titans would prefer an edge rusher at this juncture.
Now, at Bailey and Reese are both off the board.
I think the Titans would probably go Jeremiah Love at that point.
But it's fair to say that the Chiefs trade, which I never bought into,
I always thought was stupid.
The Chiefs are not going to trade two first-round pins.
to come up in the top four and draft a running back.
Like, that was always nonsense.
Never believed that.
But if you're somebody who loves Jeremiah Love,
today was a good day for you
because it eliminated the Cardinals and the Chiefs
as real threats for the Notre Dame running back.
But at this point,
I don't really care if the Titans go get a running back.
They might as well keep Tony Pollard.
Who are they going to go get at this point?
Rashad White, who doesn't really fit the powerback mold?
Maybe Brian Robinson.
Brian Robinson would make sense.
And if the Titans signed Brian Robinson to a cheap deal,
they can then cut Tony Pollard and move along.
But I think it's a situation where the Titans are going to wait
and see what happens in the draft before they decide on a guy like Tony Pollard.
But the last thing I want to mention here is kicker and punter.
And Joey Sly, I think, needs to come back.
But at punter, the punter market moved fast in free agency.
There was a ton of punters who came off the board early.
I could not believe it.
But one punter that didn't come off the board was Tom.
Townsend, who is who I want the Titans to go get, steal him from the Houston Texans,
one of the best punters in the league. And if not him,
Jamie Gillian, who has a bomb of a leg, got cut by the New York Giants,
go get one of those two guys. Because, hey, I know that nobody cares about special teams,
but we got to keep special teams special. So I'm going over kickers and punters with you guys.
But with that being said, that's the free agents, the Titans signed.
That's the moves that they need to make next in the remaining openings.
They have the money to still do it because remember,
Wondale Robinson got $17 million per year,
but that doesn't mean that his cap hit is $17 million.
Like Daniel Bellinger.
Daniel Bellinger got $8 million per season from the Titans,
but his cap hits only $5 million.
So as we get the full contract details,
I'll continue to go over the salary cap ramifications,
but the Titans still have enough money to play with.
They could still go make moves.
And at the end of the day,
there are going to be some people out there
who are already crying and complaining about how much the Titans have spent,
and I'm going to tell you why those cry babies need to shut up.

And I'm going to tell you exactly why.
It doesn't matter how much money they spent
because they aren't going to need that money and it's not going to hurt them going forward.

But with that being said, tell the cry babies to shut up.
I am sick of people complaining about whatever the Tennessee Titans do.
The Titans didn't spend money in the first hour and a half of free agency.
and everybody was screaming, Amy needs to sell the team.
This team did it again.
They're bombs.
They're not going to use any of the money.
They're just going to do nothing.
Cry, cry, cry, wah, doom's day, blah, blah.
And now the Titans have gone out and spent a bunch of money
on a bunch of different guys.
And the same exact people who were crying that they hadn't done anything
are the same exact people who are crying that they did something.
The Titans were absolutely smart to spend the money.
And the people that are going to tell you,
only bad teams spend this money.
teams that win in free agency never win.
Well, let me tell you this.
Last year, the team that spent the most money in free agency
was the New England Patriots.
The team that spent the fourth most money in free agency
was the Seattle Seahawks.
Both those teams went to the Super Bowl.
Now, I'm not here to tell you that the Tennessee Titans
are going to go to the Super Bowl,
but I'm here to tell you that your preconceived notion
on spending in free agency is stupid.
You don't know what you're talking about.
Good teams spend money in free agency.
Bad teams spend money in free agency.
Players do not care about how good a team is.
Yeah, if you're Mike Evans or you know, you're Tom Brady in his 40s,
you have the right to look for a contender.
But that's not how it works.
These players want money.
Money.
So let me tell you this.
The reason that the Tennessee Titans can spend money in free agency like this
and it's not a problem,
is because there's nobody else to pay.
There's no one else to pay.
The Titans don't have any good young players
that they need to give contracts to any time soon.
You have Jeffrey Simmons,
and you have Peter Skoronsky.
Those are the only guys that they need to give extensions to
anytime soon.
From 2020 to basically 2024,
the Titans have about three good draft picks,
maybe four good draft picks
out of those five drafts.
The reason that it's bad to spend big money in free agency
is because it prevents you from retaining your good young players
you got in the draft.
The Titans don't have any good young players they got in the draft
that they need to retain any time soon.
Anybody who's decent,
who the Titans need to keep around like Cam Ward,
like the rookie weapons, like even J.C. Latham.
They're not going to have to do that
until these contracts, if they don't work out, are off the board.
Let me ask you this question.
Legerius Sneed, Calvin Ridley, Lloyd Cushingberry.
None of those signings worked, right?
They overpaid in free agency, and none of those signings worked.
Well, how much did that hurt the Titans this off-season?
The problem is that those players were not good on the football field.
Not that the Titans overspent money,
and it prevented them from having money in the future,
Again, there is nobody on the team the Titans need to pay.
So, yeah, go out and blow the cash.
We got money to blow, uh-oh, in free agency.
And it's not going to hurt the team whatsoever.
So the boo-hooing, the crybabyin, just tell the haters to shut up.
They don't know what they're talking about.
The Titans were perfectly smart and perfectly right to spend this money.
Period.
So, also I see a lot of people have to be.
asking about Sneed, asking about Ridley.
Again, I think they're both cut
and their guarantees don't hit
on the Titan's salary cap
until March the 15th.
So that's six days from now.
I would expect Sneed and Ridley to both be cut
by then with all the moves the Titans are making.
But with that being said,
that is going to do it for my recap of day one of free agency.
