Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans TOP CORNERBACKS Still a Need in NFL Draft & Boundary Options vs Slot Specialists
Episode Date: April 10, 2026The Tennessee Titans signed multiple corners in free agency, but cornerback is still a need and if the right talent is there, especially in the event of a trade back, the Titans could take one much ea...rlier than folks are expecting. Moving back and landing Jermod McCoy or Mansoor Delane would be a steal. However, it is more likely the Titans strike later in the draft and if so, they will have to choose what they actually want. There is a clear distinction in this class between longer boundary corners and smaller slot guys. No matter the round, who the Titans pick will tell us a lot about the roles within the secondary. Whether it's a trade back in the first round or later in the draft,
the Tennessee Titans must get a cornerback.
And I'll tell you the best fits on today's edition of Locked on Titans.
You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast,
part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans,
on today's show.
We are going to talk about the cornerback class in the NFL draft.
The Tennessee Titans have some great options at the top that they trade back,
but they also have a ton of different kinds of options throughout the rest of the draft
where I think they need to get at least one.
Now, before we dive into this cornerback class,
do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans,
your first listen each and every day.
Remember, Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round,
always for free.
Make sure that you get subscribed, stay subscribed. It's your team every day.
Speaking of every day, shout out to my everydayers out there.
Tune in Monday through Friday.
Couldn't do it without you guys.
If you aren't an everydayer, you need to be one.
Again, we are finishing off the 2026 Locked on Titans NFL draft preview series
went position by position through about 15 to 20 different guys at every single spot
to get you ready to go for the draft, which is less than two weeks away.
Next week, we are going to be doing mock drafts.
All week long.
We're going to do mock drafts with Daniel Jeremiah with Jeremiah Love at the top.
We're going to do mock drafts with Cornell Tate at the top.
Sony Stiles at the top.
The edge rushers at the top.
And then we're going to talk about what the best three-round outcome would be
for the Tennessee Titans in all of those different directions.
It's going to be a ton of fun.
We're going to hear more rumors, more news.
I'm going to keep you up to date.
So make sure that you stay locked in
with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world
locked on Titans. But again,
the cornerback position.
The Titans may have added three guys
in free agency. They add Flot
and Alante Taylor on big time deals.
They bring in Josh Williams as kind of
a depth corner to develop behind the scenes.
But here's the truth. You need
three starting level corners.
And while Marcus Harris
could be one of those
starting level corners, why I
do think Kevin Winston
could play some
early down nickel and fill that
slot roll on run downs.
So that could solve the problem.
I still think the Tennessee Titans need to draft a cornerback in this draft.
You can never have too many good cornerbacks.
Injuries happen.
It's one of the toughest position.
I think it's the second toughest position to play in the entire NFL behind quarterback.
Cornerback is tough, it's hard, there's injuries, you need depth there.
And let's just call it what it is.
Alante Taylor may be better in the slot.
And it sounds like, based on everything that he is saying,
that he's going to play outside,
but if the Titans want to have the most versatility possible,
they need to have another boundary cornerback
to allow Alante Taylor to play on the inside if needed.
But we don't know what they're going to do there.
But the point is, we'll talk about it more,
the point is cornerback is still a position
where they could add somebody very early in the draft.
Whether it's the first round, the second round,
they could add a cornerback.
And people are going to say, oh, they don't need corner.
They don't need corner because a lot of people only look at the 20s,
2026 depth chart when they think about the draft.
Oh, the cornerback positions are filled.
We don't need a cornerback.
But that's not the way that general managers look at this.
They think years in advance.
Okay?
And if you could have an elite cornerback,
Alante Taylor and Cordell Flot
aren't going to make you not take an elite cornerback.
Now, I will say this.
I don't think the Titans take a cornerback in the first round
unless there is a trade back.
There's no way they're taking Mansour Delane
or Jermad McCoy at number four.
that's not going to happen.
But if they trade back to 9 or lower, 9, 11, 12, 14,
and one of Dermad McCoy or Monsor Delane is on the board,
I think they would take them.
I really do.
I mean, Delane is insane.
I know that rhymes, but I didn't mean for it too.
You know what I mean?
Like some of his statistics, the lack of catches he allowed this year,
the lack of zero touchdowns.
The lack of penalties,
explosive plays, 20-yard pass plays,
he just doesn't allow things like that.
He's a smaller guy, 5 foot 11, 187 pounds,
only 30-inch arms, which is very short,
about a 4.38 40-yard dash.
He's quick, he's smart, super durable.
This dude just plays football.
He's a great cover man that will play with,
play run defense, great character.
He just, again, he has average size and length.
If he was 6'1 with 32-inch arms, he'd be a top 5 pick.
So, yeah, I'd take him if the Titans traded back to 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, somewhere in there.
I think that would be a great start to the drive.
Dramad McCoy, I just did a mock draft earlier this week,
where I traded back to 12 with the Cowboys, I took Dramad McCoy.
He is a freak athlete.
Quick Twitch, great ball skills,
Superstar potential
He needs to play with a little bit more discipline
But he's only 20 years old
So yeah don't we all need to be a little more discipline
When we're 20 years old sure
But ran a 440 after the ACL tear
Because the ACL tear is something that's been a concern
But if he's back
31 and a quarter inch arm
6 foot tall 188 pounds
Yeah you'd love him to be 6 2 61
200 32 inch arm
but man, this guy is just fantastic.
So if the Titans trade back,
I 100% think that they could take one of those guys.
But where it really becomes a more realistic possibility, in my opinion,
is at pick 35.
Because a guy like Chris Johnson out of San Diego State,
6 foot, 4-4 speed,
great instincts, great ball skills,
good movement, also a little bit stronger
than some of these guys that we just talked about
like McCoy or Delane.
of course he's 6 foot 193.
He's not the biggest guy.
And he played at San Diego State.
He barely had any games against good teams.
You know what I mean?
But boy, those ball skills, that movement ability,
the instincts to break on things,
I love Chris Johnson.
I don't know that he's going to be there at 35,
but if he is, I would 100% consider it.
Avion Torel out of Clemson,
he's more of a slot guy where Delane, McCoy,
Johnson are more boundary corners.
I could see Delane playing
a little inside if you needed him to, but
Avion Terrell from Clemson really
is a slot cornerback. There are
some people who think maybe he could be a field corner
like a Cordell Flot, you know what I mean?
But I think he's best in the slot.
511, 186, smaller guy
ran a 4-640.
That's just not fast enough to play vertically
on the outside in my opinion.
He's small, he's lean,
but man, he will press you.
he has great quickness, he's feisty.
Again, I think he's a slot guy going forward.
If the Titans were to take Avion Terrell,
that would be a surprise to me, but it would tell us,
hey, no, we are putting Alante Taylor on the outside.
Cordell Flott is your field outside corner.
We need a slot, and we don't believe in Marcus Harris yet.
That's what Avion Terrell would tell me.
Colton Hood could absolutely be there at pick number 35,
Tennessee, 511, 193, 31.5 inch arms.
We're in a 4, 4, 40-yard dash.
Still only young 21-year-old.
He is fast, he has long, he's twitchy, he's real tight in coverage.
He'll stay with you a little too sticky at times in coverage.
Be a little grabby at times.
Willing to play and run defense.
But he's not the quickest guy.
He's not the quickest guy.
He's tight in coverage, but again, he could be a little grabby.
he's strong, he'll press you.
The ball skills are lacking, though.
He doesn't really make plays on the ball enough,
and he's better in man.
His experience with zone coverage isn't great,
and we know that Robert Sala is going to run a ton of zone coverage.
So, Colton Hood is a boundary corner that I think has potential,
but I don't know if he's a great fit with the Titans.
Brandon Cesey, though, out of South Carolina as a guy
that I have liked for a long time.
I think he's a great fit for the Titans.
Now, based on his college stuff, I thought he was bigger.
He's only 5-11, 189 pounds.
I thought that he would end up being over 6 foot.
He's not.
31.3-inch arms, that's okay.
4.4-640, that's okay.
He's still 20.8 years old, though.
So a young player who can still develop.
He's long for the position, fast, straight-line speed guy.
He'll play you tighten coverage.
as well. He's a willing run defender.
He's just a little thin.
189, that's thin.
And he hasn't shown
ball skills either.
But I think as a zone corner
on the outside as a boundary guy,
he makes a ton of sense for the Titans.
35 may be a bit rich though.
He may be more of a 40 to 50 type guy.
So it might be a trade back in the second round.
The next guy is someone that everybody loves.
DeAngelo Ponds.
I'm not as high on him as others.
Guy out of Indiana.
5 foot 8, 182 pounds, 29-inch arms.
Did run a 4-3-8-40.
He's fast.
He's fast.
He's great at the catch point.
He's just not a guy with a lot of press experience.
And the size and the length is obviously terrible.
But he is just so feisty.
A lot of people like him.
I can't...
I think he's better on the outside than he is in the slot.
But I don't think that he can play on them.
the outside in the NFL. I'm not as high on pawns as a lot of other people are. I just have
questions about the size. Will that, I know he's been very good against big physical wide receivers.
Like Denzel Boston, he put him in the torture chamber. You know? He struggled against
Jeremiah Smith, but who does? But I just can't, I can't buy it. I can't buy it, especially for
the Titans as an outside corner. I don't see it. Trading Stukes. Now, he is an outside corner,
a nickel back, a safety. He's everything.
He's a Swiss Army knife like a Jalen Ramsey type guy in the secondary.
6 foot 190, nearly 32 inch arms.
We're in a 4-3-340, but he's 25 years old, 24.6.
Look, he has, like Tyron Matthew,
I think would be a good comparison for trading Stoops.
Stoogues is faster, I think, but just great instincts, incredible ball skills.
smooth movement, smart player.
But again, age, he's older, he's had injuries, he's average size-wise.
If he was bigger and younger, he would probably be a top 20 pick in the draft.
That ball skills and that instincts, hard to find that.
That's what you look for.
So Trayton Stukes had a meeting with the Titans.
I would be interested to see if he's there at 35 what they do.
Because he could come in right away and be the early down nickel.
play safety if needed.
I mean, he could literally do anything in the secondary.
Keith Abney is a slot guy.
Arizona State 5-9-187.
Instinctive, good feel, physical player,
but he's small, he's over-aggressive.
You know, just your classic typical feisty, small guy,
which I know a lot about, quite honestly.
Again, if the Titans take Keith Abney,
I would be surprised.
but that would tell us immediately, yeah, that's a slot guy,
and they are going to keep everybody else outside.
Davis and Igbenoson is the last guy that I would put in this group.
This is the top 10 corners, in my opinion.
He's 6-189 with 32.8-inch arms.
He's like one of the only guys in this group
that has the size and the length for the Titans that I think they want.
Fierce mentality, press man, not scared to anything.
He just is a penalty magnet, man.
Dude gets penalties all the time, doesn't play with discipline.
More man coverage than zone coverage experience.
But great size, great length, good speed.
Davis and Ignatson could be an option at pick number 66 for the Titans.
But I think that day three, or at least late on day two,
is where the Titans really should look for a cornerback
because there are a ton of them who fit exactly what they're looking for.

Let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Again, we're breaking down the cornerback class in the NFL draft.
We talked about the top 10 corners, the two at the top, Delane and McCoy,
who could be options for the Titans in a trade down.
We talked about second round options for the Titans, boundary guys like Chris Johnson,
Colton Hood, Brandon Cesey, Davis and Ig Magnoson,
but also slot guys are versatile guys like Avion, Terrell, DeAngelo, Pons,
trading Stukes, or Keith Abney.
But again, I think the better area for the Titans to strike at cornerback in this draft
if they don't get a McCoy or a Delane is on day three.
and I think, I think my opinion is
that the Titans need a boundary cornerback.
I think the Titans need more guys on the boundary,
but they could potentially want a slot guy.
And I think regardless of what they want,
whether it's slot, whether it's boundary,
because if you take the trading Stukes meeting
as something big,
then that would lead you to believe that they want a slot guy.
They want a versatile guy.
And if you take Alante Taylor at his word that he plays outside
and Cordell Flottis said he's playing outside,
they bring in Joshua Williams, who is a 6-foot-3 outside guy,
maybe it would be fair to say they actually need a slot,
which would make Avionte Rale or Trayden Stukes or DeAngelo Ponds
or Keith Abney more appetizing early on.
But if we go to the day three options,
Jaden Kennedy,
510, 181, 30 inch arms.
He's an instinctive, good athlete,
but he's small and he doesn't have great strength.
Chandler Rivers,
out of Duke, 5 foot 9, 185,
29.3 inch arm, 4 440,
a feisty, fluid guy in coverage,
who again is small.
Keante Scott, out of Miami.
Feisty,
smart, physical, great blitzer.
All right, fast.
433 speed, 31.3 inch arm, so a little longer than Kennedy or Rivers. 510,
but he's 24.7 years old.
Now, maybe that's what the Titans want in their slot corner.
I don't think that the Titans are going to pay slot cornerbacks under Robert Salah.
I think they're going to rotate them in and out all the time.
So taking an order, if you don't plan on resigning a slot cornerback anyway,
then taking an older guy isn't as big of a deal
because when Keante Scott is done with his rookie deal
he's going to be 29 years old
you're not bringing him back anyway
you're going to find a new guy before that
so from that perspective it doesn't matter
but again with Keontay Scott
not a very big guy
older prospect not great at the catch point either
do you want a slot guy who really isn't good
with ball skills some people think Scott is more of a safety
I think guys like Trayton Stukes, Keith Abney, Keontay Scott.
Are they safeties? Are they Nichols?
That sort of role is blending in the NFL nowadays.
Some of the best nickels in the entire NFL are safeties.
Jalen Petrie, Kyle Hamilton, you know, Jalen Ramsey at this point.
Caleb Downs is going to do, I think Kevin Winston can play in that role.
We'll talk about that when we talk about safeties later on tonight,
But again, I think that role was blending in the NFL.
So some of the, are they safeties, are they nickels?
It's almost becoming the same thing for a lot of guys.
Now, if we stay with the idea that they need a boundary corner more.
Because I think having one of these guys as a long-term starter,
as a boundary corner with Cordell Flot in the field corner,
outside corner rule, and then Alante Taylor inside
might be the best version of the Titan secondary.
But again, Alante Taylor sounds like the plan is to play him outside.
But even then, again, you need depth at cornerback
and there are a ton of guys who are boundary corners
who I think could be day three picks.
Malik Muhammad out of Texas.
Now maybe he could play a little bit of slot.
He's 6 foot 182, 4-4-240, 32-inch arms.
He's instinctive.
He's quick, he's just thin, 182.
That's really small.
So power, he gets pushed off spots at the catch point.
That weakness matters all over the tape.
Takario Davis from Washington.
6.3, 194, 33-inch arms, 4-4 speed.
That sounds like a Titans outside cornerback right there.
Again, the size, the speed.
He's just not very quick.
He's not going to be good in mirror man coverage.
He's a zone outside cover three corner.
And that's what the Titans are going to want to do.
Dailin Everett out of Georgia.
Interesting guy, 6-1-196, 31-inch arms, 4-3-8-40-yard dash.
He's long, he's tough, he's a good athlete, he's just super undisciplined.
Got to make sure that he plays with more consistency, more calm.
Julia Neal out of Arkansas is a guy a lot of people like.
6-1-203.
That's pretty good size.
right there. 33 inch arms. Hey now. 449.40. The size, the length, he's got great ball skills too. He makes plays on the ball. He's good at the catch point. He's just not elite speed guy 449, 445. You know what I mean? That's not elite speed like the 4 3, low 4 4 type guys that we just talked about a second ago. And the thing when Neil is he's only played 16 games. It's not a lot of experience. So,
be interesting to see where he falls in the draft.
A guy who I've liked a lot.
Just like Ticario Davis, another boundary zone cornerback.
This guy played the most zone coverage of any corner in the draft.
Devin Moore, out of Florida.
6-3-198, so 6-3-200 pounds, 31.6-inch arms.
4-5s on the 40-yard dash.
That's great-sized speed combination.
Good ball skills with the long arms at the catch point.
Again, great in zone, but he's had injuries.
Basically, every year except 20, 25, he had injuries while he was in college.
So do you think that maybe he's just gotten old enough to be past that?
Is it going to follow him?
I don't know.
But that size, that speed, those ball skills, long arms, big frame, zone experience.
Devin Moore is like the perfect fit for what the Titans need as a boundary cornerback,
like a perfect fit, in my opinion.
The next guy, another guy from Washington.
Ephesians Prysock.
Ephesians Prysock.
Did I get it right that time?
Everybody yells at me about how I say this.
And then they explain how I'm saying it.
And it just sounds like how I was saying.
Ephesians Prysock from Washington.
Hope you guys are happy.
6.13-196.
33 and a third-inch arms.
4-4-5s.
height, weight speed, demon.
He needs to play with better instincts and technique.
He needs to be coached up.
But the raw height weight speed combination
is absolutely outstanding.
Absolutely outstanding.
Really like Ephesians Prysock,
just so I can keep the name going as well.
I think I was saying Ephesians.
Maybe.
Maybe that was different.
I don't remember.
Anyway.
Charles Deming.
From,
um,
Stephen F. Austin, I think it is, right?
6-1, 193, 32 and a quarter inch arms, 4-4-1.
Another height, weight, speed guy with good length, good size, great speed.
He's physical, good ball skills, too.
This dude makes plays on the ball.
He's just not great in run defense.
Needs to be more disciplined, a little bit more patient
in how he deals with routes, not getting too over-aggressives,
shooting too early, things like that.
But Charles Deming from S.F. Austin,
he's an interesting guy who's going to go on day three.
I think he fits for what the Titans want to.
Will Lee, the third out of Texas A&M.
6-1-189, 32.7-inch arms.
4.52 on the 40-yard dash.
He is a long player, long frame.
He is explosive in his movements, great instincts.
he's just super thin and undisciplined.
Another corner that moves too fast, goes too fast,
doesn't have patience.
But man, that size, that explosiveness,
the instincts,
I'd rather back him down a little
than have to make him go.
You know what I mean?
That goes for just about everything.
The last boundary guy that I want to talk about
is Hezekia masses out of cow.
6 foot 179, that's small.
31 inch arms
4-4-6
Look he's a very quick player
plays with good instincts
good ball skills
again just another guy who's very small
very weak and it shows up on tape
gets pushed around
at the catch point but he's a boundary guy who could fit
so that is
you know like 23
20 different cornerbacks
that I think could make sense for the Titans
and if they don't come away with one of these guys
I guess I'll be pretty surprised
because cornerback is still a neat
but the type of cornerback
that they draft
will give us a lot of answers
which I'm interested in as well
but with that being said
