Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans TRADE BACK is More Valuable than Jeremiyah Love, Rueben Bain or ANY PLAYER in Draft

Episode Date: April 6, 2026

The Tennessee Titans have a lot of options at the top of the NFL Draft, but the best one is a potential trade back. It may not be a likely outcome, but it would still be the most desirable regardless ...of who it required them to pass on. No single player in this draft, including Jeremiyah Love or Rueben Bain or David Bailey, is good enough to reject a chance to double your top 100 picks or add capital for the 2027 draft. This doesn't mean they aren't great prospect, it just means their value is outweighed. The downside to this approach is obviously missing out on good players, but again this class doesn't represent traditional can't-miss options like normal classes would.   LOCKED ON TITANS EVERYDAY CLUB: https://lockedontitans.supercast.com/   Subscribe to the TicTacTitans Film Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TicTacTitans   TicTacTitans Merchandise: https://dixons-dream.square.site/shop/tictactitans-gear/C3AAPNWXSXA6SBYG3USV2I7R?page=1&limit=30&sort_by=category_order&sort_order=asc   Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitans   Follow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPod   Subscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnTitans/videos   Everydayer ClubIf you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. Starting point is 00:00:00 A trade back is the best thing the Tennessee Titans can do in the NFL draft, but it's a move that certainly has some downside. We'll make the case for and against trading down on today's edition of Locked on Titans. You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked on Podcast network, your team every day. Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast. I am your host Tyler Rowland Titans fans Today is edition of the Locked on Titans podcast
Starting point is 00:00:38 Is brought to you by Fandul right now new customers can bet just $5 and get $250 in bonus bets of your first bet wins head to fandle.com to get started on today's show We are going to make the case for Trading Down in the NFL Drap because a trade down is more valuable than any one player But I'll also acknowledge the downside of of trading down and why the Titans maybe shouldn't consider it in this draft. Before we get into it, do want to thank you for making Locked-on Titans. Your first listen each and every day.
Starting point is 00:01:12 Remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round, always for free. Make sure that you get subscribed, stay subscribed. It's your team every day. Speaking of Every Day, shout-up to my everydayers out there. Tune in Monday through Friday. If you aren't an everydayer, you need to be one. We're in the middle of our Locked-on NFL Drap preview series. I've been doing my investigation of first round options for the Titans during the bonus shows.
Starting point is 00:01:36 So much draft content for the Titans coming your way again. Make sure that you stay locked in with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world locked on Titans. But with that being said, again, I have been saying it for a while now. I have my list of prospects that I'd be happy if the Tennessee Titans took at number four. But the best option for the Titans would be to trade down. I simply do not understand when I put out mock drafts with trade down options and people say, you can't trade down. Got a stick and pick at number four.
Starting point is 00:02:10 I literally don't understand. Even if the Titans don't get a trade that's as rich and as valuable as you would see in other years, even if they don't get what the Jags gave to the Browns for Travis Hunter, even if they don't get quite as much as the Cardinals got from the Texans, You still want to trade down. That is still the best option the Titans have. And I have people in the comment sections everywhere just saying, no, they have to stick and pick it for.
Starting point is 00:02:38 And I guess I'm just very confused by it. Now, most of the people that say that are Jeremiah Love stance. They're just Jeremiah Love robust. If the Titans don't get Jeremiah Love in this draft, I'm going to be mad, I'm going to be angry. And I just, it's frustrating to have draft conversations when people are so close-minded that the, only except one player.
Starting point is 00:03:00 I mean, what if he gets taken before the Titans? You have left yourself no avenues for happiness whatsoever. Just, I want Jeremiah Love. If I don't get it, I'm going to throw a tantam and be mad forever. And I just, I can't get there. Like, I think Jeremiah Love is a fantastic player. But he's a running back. He's a fantastic running back.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Jeremiah Love is not so generationally incredible. that I would rather have if I have Jeremiah Love on one hand and two first round picks and a day three pick on the... Like, imagine if the Titans got a first round pick this year and a second round pick and a third round pick to move back. Imagine if they got a first round pick this year,
Starting point is 00:03:45 another first round pick this year because there are five teams out there that have two first round picks and a third round pick. Like I got four them from the Dallas Cowboys. What if they get a first round pick this year, a first round pick next year and a day round pick.
Starting point is 00:03:57 pick this year. Like how could the Tennessee Titans ever look at themselves and say that those draft packages right there that I just laid out, we can't take those, we got to take Jeremiah Love. There are conversations when we look at what's wrong with all these prospects and why it's not a good year at the top of the draft again. I've been saying it for months. I've said it over the last few weeks. I'm going to continue to hammer this home when we have these conversations. This is not an elite top of the first round.
Starting point is 00:04:28 There's no Miles Garrett, there's no Andrew Thomas, there's no Malik neighbors, there's no Brock Bowers, there's no, you know, there's not three or four good quarterbacks. This is a bad top of the first round in this draft class. Now there's depth at places in this draft class. The second, the third, the fourth round are not as bad. They're just normal draft classes. But the top 10 to 15 picks in this draft class are not as good as most years. So already in a normal draft class with blue chip talent at the top at premium positions already I would still be like yeah they probably need to trade down but there isn't a Miles Garrett on the board here there isn't a Julio Jones there isn't some elite incredible prospect there is no Joe Alt if there was a guy like that
Starting point is 00:05:23 I would say yeah stick and pick it for You stick it, but you can't pass up on one of these incredible prospects at an elite premium position. You can't do it. That's not Jeremiah Love. There's already conversations about the value of taking a running back at number four. And you're telling me that you would pass on two first round picks and an extra day three pick for a running back. When they're already are those questions, Jeremiah Love is a really good player, a great prospect. Right there with Bejean Robinson and Jameer Gibbs.
Starting point is 00:05:55 You're telling me you'd rather have Bijan Robinson or Jemir Gibbs on the Titans rather than have two first round picks and an extra day two pick. There isn't a running back in the NFL right now that I would rather have Sequin or Derek or Bejohn or there isn't a running back in the league right now. I'd rather have than two first round picks and a day two pick. Even the ones that I know were incredible all pros. So definitely not a rookie.
Starting point is 00:06:25 And then Bailey, does he have the bend to win at the NFL level? Can he play against the run? Bain, the short arms. That's a real historical factor. Cornell Tate is a wide receiver 2, not a wide receiver 1. You're going to pass on that for those players. Sonny Stiles, a non-violent linebacker who plays like a safety who's elite athletically, very good player,
Starting point is 00:06:50 but Caleb Downs is the least of those options that I'd accept. You're telling me you'd take any of those players at number four over two first round picks and an extra third. Like to me, just, I don't care who you like. I don't care what player you like. That's crazy to me. And the fact that most of the fan base is so like, we need Jeremiah love or death.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Love or death, that's funny. That's a good little tagline there. But like, I don't know. I guess sometimes I feel like I'm in the twilight zone when I'm discussing this stuff and the reaction that I see like, you guys would really rather have Jeremiah Love or Ruben Bain or David Bailey over two first round picks
Starting point is 00:07:35 and some extra capital. Like I just can't, you know, even if it's a first, a second, and a third this year, which I think would be the minimum that the Titans would accept. How could you turn that down? You know, if the Saints wanted to let you go from four to eight and give you a second and a third,
Starting point is 00:07:52 you would turn that down just know we got to take Jeremiah Love can't pass on Love I mean he might be there at 8 the Titans might be able to trade back a couple of spots and still take Jeremiah Love it's not off the table so whether it's a small trade
Starting point is 00:08:07 a medium trade a big trade there's no way that and remember the bigger the trade gets the bigger the return is going to get in terms of how far they go back I just can't believe that so many people are like nope I'd rather stick it for
Starting point is 00:08:21 than get that incredible trade package. I don't know. It's just crazy to me. And I got to tell you, if I had to guess, I don't think that Mike Borganzi would say no to a tradeback. He might not get one offered to him, but there's no way that Borganzi would turn down the opportunity to add additional first top 100 picks, an additional first, an additional third, things like that, to stay in the top five of one of the worst top five draft classes of the last 10 years. I don't know. Like, maybe I'm just venting at this point, but it's just hard for me, it's hard for me to believe sometimes. But again, as we have done with this entire first round
Starting point is 00:09:03 investigation series, I am going to acknowledge the other side. Starting point is 00:11:30 Again, looking out the trade down conversation. should the Tennessee Titans trade down. I made my point for why they should. Now we need to talk about why they shouldn't trade down because there is some risk involved. Now, when we talk about the risk involved with a trade down, I think the risk is very minimal. Very, very minimal.
Starting point is 00:11:53 The only risk that there is for the Titans and a trade down, in my opinion, is missing out on elite players. You know, everybody can sit here and say everyone, including me, past me from five minutes ago, which I agree with, for the record, I agree with the trade down. I think I made that clear. But, you know, to play devil's advocate here to argue the case, the case is clear that you could miss out on an elite player.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Everybody in the world can say this is not a good top of the first round. There are no elite players. There aren't any clean blue-chip prospects available at the top of this draft. all the edge rushers have risk all the best players are non-premium positions nothing's clean, nothing's easy blah blah blah everyone in the world can say that
Starting point is 00:12:43 doesn't mean that it's true doesn't mean that it's true and for me this case is about the edge rushers more than it is Jeremiah Love running back is running back there's no way that Jeremiah Love can be good enough at running back to completely
Starting point is 00:13:01 deflate the running back arguments. You know, the positional value, the contract discount, how much a running back impacts winning. Like he could be, Jeremiah Love could be the best running back in the NFL as a rookie. And it still wouldn't necessarily change the conversation about his value. Now, the edge rushers, maybe we think David Bailey can't play against the run and doesn't have the adequate bend to win at the NFL level
Starting point is 00:13:30 like he did with a speed at the college. level. Maybe we are wrong. Maybe he will be a 15 to 17 sat guy right away and that is an elite edge rusher. Maybe Ruben Bain's arms aren't too short and his quick feet and his power and his strength and his general IQ and motor and effort. Maybe that will turn him into a 15 to 17 sat guy a year and everyone will be wrong. Maybe Arvel Reese will turn into Michael Parsons. Maybe he'll play off ballbacker, blitz, constantly cause disruption all over the field,
Starting point is 00:14:04 play at the edge, gain pass rush ability, learn his move set, use speed to power, use dip and bend, get a cross-chop move, and turn into Michael Parsons. Maybe they will. And if they do that, and the Titans passed on them, and it's another Corey Davis-Di-Jaxon, oh yeah, two first-round picks, Cory Davis, Adori Jackson, awesome jumpstart that. If it's another that, while Jeremiah loves the best running back in the NFL
Starting point is 00:14:38 or David Bailey or Rubin Bain or R. Valrice go to 15 to 17 sacks a game, well, yeah, then the Titans are going to look stupid. Because you passed up on an elite player for a team that desperately needed elite players to get, you know, more quantity over quality. That is the argument. That is the possibility. That is the nightmare for the Titans. is that they do trade back, they do trade down,
Starting point is 00:15:01 the Cowboys come up and get David Bailey, and of course David Bailey turns into a freaking superstar. And he's on the Dallas Cowboys, and Dallas Cowboys get more star players, more attention, more respect, and the Titans are just the footnote Patsys who gave away the best player. That is the downside.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Even though I agree with the other side of this argument, the downside is as clear as the upside. So I get it. That's what you guys are arguing. is that these players are just too good to pass on. They're going to be too great, too impactful, all of that to pass on, you can't do it. And I understand that that's where you're coming from.
Starting point is 00:15:41 I just think you're wrong. I don't think that David Bailey is a 15 to 17 sack guy. I think he's a, you know, 10 to 12 sack guy. Maybe 14. I think his career high could be 14 sacks one year. Now, that would probably still be worth the fourth pick because if you get a guy getting 14 sacks, 10 to 14 sacks a year for $8 to $9 million a year
Starting point is 00:16:03 when Trayvon Walker's getting $27.5 million a year, that's a great value. And that's the argument for taking edge rusher over running back early in the draft. But I just don't think that David Bailey is an elite edge. I think that Ruben Bain is a very good player. I don't think he's going to be one of the elite edge rushers in the NFL. I certainly don't think Cornel Tate is.
Starting point is 00:16:25 And I don't even think R. Val Rees is going to be available for the Titans, whether they want to trade back or stick and pick anyway. So it's a moot conversation. So again, I continue to lean and will stay with the lean of they need to trade back if they can. Even if it's a little bit cheaper than what you would expect. They need to trade back if they can. But the arguments against it are very clear. So let me know how you feel about this first round investigation.
Starting point is 00:16:48 Again, we've investigated Jeremiah Love. We've investigated Cornell Tate. Kind of did a mini investigation on Sunny Stiles in the linebacker episode. But, you know, we'll hit that again. but let me know how you feel about the trade down down below or hit me up on social media. Let me know as well. With that being said, that's going to do it for me today. Folks, well, I will be back tonight with our interior offensive line episode.
Starting point is 00:17:10 But the Titans are out practicing tomorrow, Tuesday. Can't wait. But anyway, with that being said, that's going to do it for me today, folks. As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland. And this was Locked on Titans.
