Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - TENNESSEE TITANS TRADE RUMORS: Jeffery Simmons is UNTOUCHABLE, TRADE EVERYONE & Expected Pick Return
Episode Date: October 21, 2025The Tennessee Titans are clearly not making the playoffs this year and are quite a ways away from being a contending team, which is why they need to be MAJOR SELLERS at the trade deadline. According t...o recent reports, it sounds like that is the plan, but it does not sound like Jeffery Simmons will be available and that is smart. However, everyone else outside of the young players needs to be on the market like Calvin Ridley, Dre'Mont Jones, Arden Key and others. The Titans need to try and get any decent return they can for veterans that are not a part of the this team's future. Now what can they get back, odds are only Day 3 picks, but those picks can be combined together to help the Titans make more moves during draft weekend. trades the Tennessee Titans are one and six they need to be sellers at the trade deadline which is a little less than two weeks away
I'm going to go over everyone who could be traded on the Tennessee Titans,
whether it's a yes or no to trading them
and what the Titans should be expecting to get back
before we dive into all of it.
Do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans.

It's your team every day.
Speaking of every day,
shout it to my everydayers out there.
Tune in Monday through Friday.
Couldn't do it without you guys if you aren't in every day.
dayer. You need to be one again. We could see a ton of trades here in the next two weeks.
I'm going to be here to break them all down for you, go over the returns that the Titans got,
what it can mean, and ultimately, who needs to step up into the new opportunities that are going to be available once some of these trades happen.
Now, before we dive into all of the different trade stuff, do want to talk about Tyler Lockett being released by the Tennessee Titans on Monday.
He asked for his release. It was granted. He'll move on.
probably signed with a new team later this week
according to all the reports that we're seeing out there
from the big time national reporters
but something I said on a short video
that I'm going to echo here
this is a great thing
they needed to get Tyler Lockett off the field
he was doing absolutely nothing for them as a player
and at the end of the day
when you have young guys behind him
like a ChimDK like hopefully eventually
Xavier Restrepo even you know a young guy
like Bryce Oliver when he's healthy
and he's able to get back on the field.
Like, we want to see those guys out on the field,
not Tyler Lockett at 34 years old at the end of his career
when you know that Tyler Lockett
is not going to be a part of the future of this football team whatsoever.
When you're at 1 and 6,
it doesn't make any sense to keep these aging veterans
who are part of the plan to try to keep you afloat.
When you have young guys who are stepping up
and who you need to see more of,
you need to get more answers on the young players.
You know who Tyler Lockett is at 34 years.
You know what he is as a player. He's not going to be a part of your future. There's no reason to keep him around.
So if he doesn't want to be around, and here's my opinion of what happened.
Chim Dike had a breakout game.
They went to Tyler Lockett on Monday morning and they said, Tyler,
you're probably not going to get many reps going forward.
And he only had 14 reps in the game against the Patriots.
They said, you know, we need to get a look at these younger guys.
And Tyler Lockett said, well, you know, you know,
That's fair, that's fine.
But if you're telling me that I'm not going to play,
I'm too old to just sit around here for nothing.
Just release me.
And the Titans did.
That's what should have happened.
And I find it hilarious.
Just the crybaby attitude of everybody right now
because the Titans are bad.
You know, it happened last week.
Everyone says,
Titans need to fire Brian Callahan.
They fire Brian Callahan.
And then he goes,
why didn't the owner talk about it?
about firing Brian Callahan. What do you mean you fired Brian Callahan and you
this is your reason for firing Brian Callahan? That press conference sucked.
Why do you need people to tell you why they fired Brian Callahan?
We all have been talking about fire and Brian Callahan for a month.
We know exactly why Brian Callahan was fired. I don't need Chad Brinker or
Mike Borganzi or Amy Adams Strunk to tell me why Brian Callahan was fired.
I know that. I have been saying he should be fired and it's a
same thing with Tyler Lockett. We have been saying
Tyler Lockett needs to be off the field.
It's time to play ChimDK. It's time to play Xavier Restrepo.
It's time to play the younger guys.
We have been saying that for weeks now.
And then the Titans actually do it.
They actually say, hey, we're going to play the younger guys.
We're done with Tyler Lockett.
Yeah, sure, Tyler Lockett, we'll release you.
Go ahead. Go somewhere else.
And now everybody's like, oh, it's embarrassing for the Titans.
Another veteran player asking out.
This is not a good sign for the team
But like, are you just going to cry about everything?
Is everybody just going to cry about everything?
Even when the stuff that we want to happen happens,
we're still going to cry about the way that it happened or whatever.
It's just nonsense.
It's just absolute nonsense.
Tyler Lockett needed to be released.
Tyler Lockett needed to be off the field
and the Titans needed to prioritize their young guys.
And that needs to continue as we talk about these guys
who need to be traded.
Now, the number one player
that would have the most value in a trade for the Titans
is Jeffrey Simmons
but here's the problem
Jeffrey Simmons makes a lot of money
and it would take a lot of cap space
and a lot of cap space wiggling
for any team to be able to absorb the money
of Jeffrey Simmons going forward
and let me just say this
you can't trade everyone
you can't trade everybody
and when you have Jeffrey Simmons
who may have just gotten banged up sure
but when you have Jeffrey Simmons
who has been literally the best interior
defensive lineman in the NFL
that is a player who is too good to trade
and according to all the recent reports
and according to all of the trade rumors
that have been out there from any national reporting
that you want to look at
whether it's Rusini or Fowler
or Shepter
Rappaport or any source that you want to look at
they're all echoing the same thing
the Titans are open to business
but they're not going to trade Jeffrey Simmon.
And they shouldn't.
And they shouldn't.
He's too good of a player.
He's only 27 years old.
He's going to be 28.
Like, I get that everyone's mad.
And you just want to see the team torn down all the way as much as possible
because we're so far away from competing.
But I got news for you.
Nobody is that far away from competing in the NFL.
You get one good free agent class, one good draft class this all season.
Next thing you know, the Titans are a competitive team.
You get two in a row, and next thing you know, the Titans are a playoff contender.
Like, it really does move that quickly.
So, Jeffrey Simmons is 28 now, I guess, not 27, 28 now.
Of course, birthday is in July.
Okay, so he just turned 28.
Interior defensive linemen age gracefully in the NFL.
It's one of the positions in the NFL that you can stay good for a long time.
If they were to get two first round picks back,
like the Micah Parsons deal, you can get two first round picks and a starting level player,
then all right, but they're not getting that.
Not for Jeffrey Simmons.
He's not a Micah Parsons level player.
He's not.
Okay?
So the best that they could get, in my opinion,
would be a first round pick and a third round pick.
and you're not getting that until this off season, in my opinion.
So, I just don't think it's smart, logical to trade Jeffrey Simmons in the middle of the season
and if his hamstring is actually torn and he's going to be out for a while,
well, you're not going to be able to trade him right now anyways.
So, there's a long list of guys that I want to see traded,
but I'm sorry Jeffrey Simmons is just not on that list.
We can have another conversation about that later in the off season when the season is over,
But right now it makes no sense at all to ditch Jeffrey Simmons
in the middle of the season
unless you get a Micah Parsons level package
which realistically you're not going to get.
So, with that being said,
let's talk about some guys that should be traded
and what the Titans might get back for them.
Do want to let you guys know
that today's episode is brought to you
by Game Time.
Game Time is the best play.
to buy tickets, period.
Alright, the NFL season is back and honestly
there's nothing better than being in the stadium
surrounded by fans, cheering on your team.
But let's be honest, getting tickets can be a hassle
between queues, log in screens,
prices jumping at checkout, it's frustrating.
That's why I use game time,

Today.
Titans fans.
Let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
We are talking trades.
And we talked about the Tyler Lockett release
and why I'm not mad that young guys get opportunities
over a veteran that wasn't getting the job done.
We talked about Jeffrey Simmons and the reports out there that he is untouchable.
And it does make sense.
The Titans aren't going to get the best trade for him in the middle of the season anyway.
That's an off-season conversation.
But now we need to talk about guys who do need to be traded.
Okay?
And the Titans have a ton of options that could be
worthy additions for other contending teams.
And we start on the offensive side of the ball.
And I think Calvin Ridley is a guy who could get the Titans a ton of value right now.
they can a third round pick.
I think the Titans could do
and remember it doesn't have to be
Titans trade player
for pick
and that's it.
It could absolutely be
the Titans trade
Calvin Ridley and a fifth round pick
for a third round pick
the Titans trade Calvin Ridley
and a sixth for a fourth
like it could be stuff like that
they can be more creative
than just player for a pick
but I think Calvin Ridley could net you
a third round value
I think he still has ability, he still has speed, and let's be honest,
everything that the Titans touch dies.
Okay, so Calvin Ridley, I think most teams would look at him and be like,
he's not a number one receiver.
We know that.
But if we could bring him in here, use his speed, get him in motion,
get the ball in his hands,
Calvin Ridley can still make plays and make an impact on a winning team.
And that's why I think he has the most value that the Titans could get.
Now the problem is the money
But I think the Titans could get creative with any money situation that they need to
So if the Titans trade Calvin Ridley this year
They'd have to eat $10 million in dead money next year
They would save $16 million in salary cap next year though
But the team that trades for Calvin Ridley would still have to take on about
approximately $14 million in salary
Now a lot of teams like I told
talked about with the Jeffrey Simmons situation, a lot of teams don't have
$14 million of salary cap space that they could just use right now.
Okay?
So, what can the Titans do?
What the Titans could do is they could pay some of that salary for Calvin Ridley.
So Calvin Ridley's salary was like $22 million for this year.
It's been a third of the games or a little over a third of the games.
22 divided by 3 is 7.3 or whatever, quick math.
athlete, all right? But
if the Titans were like
hey, we'll eat
half of the money remaining
so you only have to absorb
$7 million in salary and we'll eat
the other $7 million and pay it ourselves
that could be workable
that could make a trade work and
not only that but if the Titans are willing
to eat money in these deals
and pay out a big chunk of the salary
heck the Titans could pay the entire
higher remaining salary. You get Calvin Ridley for free.
But you've got to give us a better draft pick for that.
See how that works? There are ways where the Titans attach a lower draft pick.
The Titans eat more money.
There are plenty of ways for the Titans to get a better draft pick back in return
if they're willing to acquiesce the things that help the other team.
That's how these negotiations and trades work.
It's not so cut and dry a player for pit.
There are other things we can do here to jazz this thing up.
And I think Calvin Ridley, out of all of the players that we're talking about,
would be in a vacuum, the best player that the Titans could trade.
And I think maybe a third-round pick could be possible if the Titans get creative.
And not only that, but less, Calvin Ridley means more young wide receivers,
more Chim Deacon, more Elykeye-Manner.
Maybe eventually we get a Xavier Restrepo.
Like I said, Bryce Oliver, if he gets healthy,
he's back at practice.
Maybe he's ready to go this week.
Let's see some more Bryce Oliver.
Like, at this point, the team is 1 and 6.
We know who they are.
This is more difficult, I admit,
but this is someone who I think would have value
and the Titans would have the opportunity to maybe trade them.
Tony Pollard.
Tony Pollard
is not going to be here
after the season folks
he's worn down
he was never meant
to be the type of player
that the Titans have
Tony Pollard wore down
from the workload that they gave him last season
and the Titans need
a new RB1
next year
Tony Pollard's not
bad, I'm not saying he's bad, but the Titans could do a lot better.
There are a lot better players out there, and
why not get somebody cheaper? Why not draft somebody?
Like, at this point, what's the, the Titans are second,
and second worst in the NFL and run game?
Why are you paying Tony Pollard
an average starter salary in the NFL
for a terrible running game?
like the offensive line isn't good enough to get the value out of Tony Pollard
and there's a lot of running back injuries all over the NFL
and I don't think that Pollard could get what Calvin Ridley could
but the money with Pollard isn't as difficult because his salary is lower
and I think the Titans could get a fourth round pick out of Tony Pollard
maybe a fifth round pick out of Tony Pollard something like that
so not only does that remove Tony Pollard from the equation
but the Titans can get more look at Tajay Spears
who they need to see if he can handle the workload.
They need to see if Tajay Spears can stay healthy and consistent
to give them answers on what they need to do
with the running back room going forward next year.
So I think that Tony Pollard will be an excellent,
excellent trade candidate for the Tennessee Titans.
The run game is terrible already.
You have Tajay Spears back healthy.
go sign a veteran free agent to bring in
it's not that hard
and it's not that big of a deal
in my opinion either
Tony Pollard is not helping out this football team
and not helping Cam Ward
in a significant way to where it would be like
nope you can't trade him
not only that but continuing on offense
Chig Oconquo
Oconquo is one of the easiest guys
that makes sense
get a fifth round pick back for Chig
he's a guy who can help a better offense
as a yards after catch
check down threat
he's in the last year of his contract
you shouldn't re-sign him
Chig is a perfect
example of a cheap player
who could be a one-year rental
for a better team that needs some weapons
like
I think Chig Ongwa would look great in Kansas City right now
as a backup to Travis Kelsey
and as a yards after catch threat
Kelsey isn't a real yards after catch threat
this stage in his career. Chica Conquo can be. Add some more explosiveness there.
Tight end is hard to find bodies. And when you experience injuries at tight end, it makes it very
difficult. I think Chigacanquo's versatility as a player that can line up outside, be
an off ball tight end, all that makes him an excellent option. He's not going to be that
expensive financially or draft pick wise. I would take a sixth round pick for Chigacanquo.
You're not resigning him after the year.
There's no reason to.
So why would you not get anything back?
Like, get anything you can back for a guy
that you're not going to resign and keep next year.
It's Gunner Helm's time.
Let's see Gunner Helm.
Let's see David Martin Robinson.
We know who Chig is.
We know the player that he is.
They're not resigning him.
If you can get anything back, you need to do it.
And similarly, Kevin Zeitler.
Let's see Jackson Slater.
Let's see more Blake hands.
Why not?
What are we waiting on?
Zitler has been bad for most of the year.
He's 35 years old.
He's on a one-year contract.
I bet Kevin Zitler would love to go play somewhere that's more competitive.
And we know NFL teams desperately need offensive line help.
Like the Carolina Panthers have lost multiple.
Interior offensive linemen for the year.
You think they wouldn't want Kevin Zitler?
And I think the Titans could get a fifth or a sixth round pickback for Zitler.
Day three pick.
Sure, why not?
So, Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard,
Chigacoghaw, Kevin Zitler,
I'd move them all if you could.
Any of them you get a good deal for.
Again, you've got to get the right value.
You can't get people away for nothing.
But I think all four of those guys would make sense
as a trade candidate. Now, we move to the defensive side of the ball.

Titans fans, let's cap off today's edition of the Locked-on Titans podcast.
We are talking trades.
The trade deadline is two weeks from Tuesday.
I think that's November 4th officially, yeah, November 4th.
And I think the Tennessee Titans need to make a ton of trades.
And according to reports, they are out there canvassing the situation,
trying to find some trades.
And they got a lot of veterans that make sense.
We talked about the offensive side of the ball,
but I actually think the defensive side of the ball
might be where we see more guys traded before we don't.
dive in, thanks again for making Locked-on Titans.
You're at first listen each and every day.
But we start with the defensive line.
And I think there are three, four veterans on the Titans defensive line
who could immediately be traded and it would be a great idea for the Titans.
Number one, Arden Key.
Last year of his contract has done absolutely nothing for the Titans this year.
Coming off an injury where I'm wondering if it's a real injury
if they're just certain they can trade Arden Key and want to make sure he doesn't.
actually get injured, but I think you could get like a, like a sixth or a fifth round
pickback for Arden Key, like a sixth and key for a fifth, I think would make a ton of sense
as well. Arden Key is better as a role player. You know, you can't have Arden Key be your
number one edge rusher. That's not going to work out very well for you and it hasn't
worked out this year. But as the third edge rusher or the fourth edge rusher on a competitive
team, I think Arden Key could still provide some value. And again, he's in the last year of his
contract, you are not going to be signing Arden Key back to the football team.
Anything that you can get for him is helpful.
And I feel the same about Draymont Jones.
And Draymont Jones has played a little bit better as of late, and that's helpful.
But I think Draymont Jones could get you a fifth round pick, a fourth round pick maybe with a combination deal.
Like, Draymont Jones is still a guy who's going to set a physical edge against the run.
He's going to do a little bit of work against the passer.
again, he's been much better in the last couple of weeks
than he was early on in the season.
And he's a guy who like Key
isn't a number one, isn't a starter.
But if you add him to a good football team
with a good defensive line and a good rotation there,
I think Draymont Jones could still absolutely have some value
for a football team.
Same thing, Jahad Ward.
Now, I think Ward is going to give you a little less.
You might only get a 7th or a 6th round pick at maximum
out of a guy like Jahad Ward.
but Ward has been all over the quarterback.
He's been the Titans' best edge rusher.
And I'm sorry, but edge rush and pass rush
is one of those places that good football teams load up on
as they continue to go throughout the season.
That is somewhere where you can never have enough depth
is the pass rush.
You want a healthy rotation of players.
That's what you should be looking for
if you're a good team on the defensive line.
So that's why I think Key, Jones, Ward,
the NFL is desperate for edge rush.
and these guys might not be good enough to be the top edge rushers for the Titans,
but they can go be backup edge rushers for better football teams.
And I think it would make a ton of sense for the Titans.
Play Jalen Harrell more.
Why not?
Play Allie Gay more.
Why not?
You know, maybe Femi comes back from injured reserve eventually.
Play him, the whole game.
Who cares?
This team's not winning anyways.
So I think the defensive line, especially Edge,
is where if the Titans make a trade,
I think it will be one of the edge rushers,
Arden Key or Draymont Jones.
Sebastian Joseph Day has to be in that conversation as well.
Sixth round pick.
Look, SJD, I wanted SJD back on the Titans.
He's a really, really solid,
third interior defensive lineman.
Really solid.
But what are we doing here?
Veteran, one-year deal,
defensive line can't get any rush anyway.
Team is one and six.
It's the same thing as all the other conversations.
I think SJD is a really good role player for a team.
But with where the Titans are at right now,
what is the point?
So I think SJD is a guy who could actually get some value back,
maybe a sixth round pick at most.
But I'd take it.
I think you'd have to take it.
And here's the thing too.
It's not just about what this one-day-
pick can be. It's, hey, if you get a sixth round pick, maybe you can combine a fifth
and a sixth and move up to the fourth. Maybe you combine a fourth and a sixth and move up to the
third. The Titans just need more picks so that they can move around the draft board and get
guys that they're interested in. And you can always combine your picks to move up and get better
picks. It happens every year. So, again, I know one sixth round pick or who they're going
to take in the sixth round, but it's about giving you the ability to move those
picks around, combine them together, and move up and get better picks out of it.
Like, it's not just what one pick will do for you.
It's what the potential is and the possibilities are from having more draft picks
and being able to combine them together.
So, I know a lot of you guys are going to be screaming, trade Cody Barton.
And look, I'd like to see James Williams get more opportunities, but why would
anyone trade for Cody Barton?
Same thing, Legerius Sneed.
What are you going to get from Legerius Sneat?
He's hurt now again.
A team would have to take on 10 minutes.
million dollars in salary to take them and of course
the Titans could eat some of that salary
but at the end of the day
Legerius Neen is playing terrible football
he's always hurt
he's got all field issues
why would anyone trade for him
now if the Titans could get anything
for Legerius Neen I'd do it
a fourth a fifth I'd do it
you know what I mean but
let's be realistic
these teams aren't just going to
trade for Cody Barton Legerius Sneed
Amani Hooker like
they're playing
terrible football. Why would you want them?
At least with guys like
Dremont Jones. You could see
how he would fit.
Jihad Ward, Sebastian Joseph Day,
Tony Pollard, Chig, Zitler.
These are guys who you could at least look at their tape
and be like, oh, they could help us.
Cody Barton, Ligerius Sneed,
Amani Hooker, Quandre Diggs,
like, nobody's going to want those guys.
