Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans YOUTH MOVEMENT MUST BEGIN with Cam Ward, Gunnar Helm, Chimere Dike & Kevin Winston
Episode Date: October 23, 2025The Tennessee Titans are massive underdogs going into their Week 8 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts and considering odds are low the Titans can win, this week is a perfect time to start the youth m...ovement. That begins with better play from Cam Ward though, who needs to bounce back from a rough performance in Week 7 that included three turnovers. He could use some help from fellow rookies like Gunnar Helm, Chim Dike and Elic Ayomanor while also getting some protection from JC Latham and Peter Skoronski. On defense, the Titans will need a huge game out of T'Vondre Sweat as he is set to play without being flanked by Jeffery Simmons against the NFL's best rushing attack. He will get some help from Cedric Gray who continues to impress at linebacker. Hopefully, we see more Kevin Winston on defense this week as well. The Tennessee Titans are not going to win on Sunday,
but I still want to see their young foundational pieces improve.
And I'll tell you who they are on today's edition of Locked on Titans.
You are Locked on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast,
part of the Locked on podcast network, your team every day.
Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans.
Today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast is brought to you by Mazda.
Like our favorite players,
Mazda sweats every detail because when you make every move count,
pulling off the unexpected is only the beginning.
Stay tuned later for highlights.
And this week's moving the game forward, Mazda moment of the week.
It's Mazda Move and B Move on today's show.
It's a game plan Friday, but I want to do things just a little bit differently.
First, we're going to look at the guys on the offensive side of the ball
that I think are part of the Tennessee Titans future
and I'll talk about what I want from them in this game.
Same on the defensive side of the ball.
Who is someone the Tennessee Titans can build around going forward
and what should we expect from them against the Colts?
We'll also go over keys to victory for this game as well
and I'll cap off the show with my game and score
fantasy and gambling predictions.
Before we dive into all of it,
do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans.
Your first listen each and every day.
Remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content

It's your team every day.
Speaking of every day, shout out to my everydayers out there.
Tune in Monday through Friday.
Couldn't do it without you guys.
If you aren't an everydayer, you need to be one.
The Titans have a long season ahead with a lot of young players
that need to get opportunities that we're about to talk about right now
and there will be a long extensive head coaching search ahead of us as well.
But with all that being said, again, we're going to start on the offensive side of the ball.
And when you talk about who are,
the players that the Tennessee Titans actually might have in the future?
Who are players that the Titans can actually build around going forward that we know
are part of that foundation?
And obviously you have to start with Cam Ward.
So Cam Ward is my number one player to watch this week.
Not only because he's the quarterback of the future
because the Titans need him to be a good player for them
to turn this thing around eventually, whether it be now or into the future.
But he really needs to rebound from last week's performance.
And look, last week was a complicated performance, as we've talked about throughout this week.
Cam Ward had some of his best stuff that we've seen on tape,
some of his best throws and moving out of the pocket and doing different things.
Like, it was a pretty good performance in that regard.
But we also saw the worst of Cam Ward with dropping the football in the backfield
and with throwing inaccurate passes behind his wide receivers,
one that leads to an interception.
Like, we got the good, bad, and the ugly of Cam Ward
as I talked about on this show.
And I did my film breakdown on Ticktack Titans YouTube channel
to show you guys exactly what I'm talking about.
So like, we saw the best of both worlds with Kim Ward
and now we need to see a little bit less of the bad
and a little bit more of the good.
I want to see a bounce back performance.
And in a game where odds are,
the Titans might be down by quite a bit,
I want to see Cam Ward
because he's going to have a ton of opportunities to throw the football.
Can he be precise?
He's going to have not super content.
This is what's happened basically in every game, other than the Cardinals game,
is, well, even in the Cardinals game, it happened in the fourth quarter,
and it let Cam Ward get into a rhythm.
But teams are up by so much on the Titans late in games
that they back off on their coverage.
They're not playing tight, they're not being super aggressive,
they're keeping everything in front of them
because they don't want to let explosive plays happen
to let the Titans get back in the game,
and that's the number one way to do it.
It's quick, fast, explosive plays.
So they're basically giving Cam easy, short,
opportunities. I'm not even mad about that. I want Cam to get reps at those things.
I want Cam to get comfortable. I want Cam to show his accuracy and not be way behind wide
receivers and not drop the football in the backfield. So like, we need to see that from Cam Ward.
He needs to get back to playing the best version of football that he can play right now with the
circumstances that they are. Very difficult circumstances, but Cam Ward's capable of better
than what we saw last week and at minimum more consistent play than what we saw last week.
cut out the turnover. So Cam Ward's the number one player
to watch for me. But number two is
Gunner Helm. I think
Gunner Helm is going to have opportunities and
as my guy Jake Arthur from Lockdown
Colts said in the crossover episode
yesterday, we saw what Rookiee
Gadsden did to the Colts defense last
week from the tight end position. The tight ends
line or the Colt, I'm all
over the place. The Colts linebackers
and safeties are susceptible
over the middle of the field. We know
that Cam Ward can be dangerous
over the middle of the field. And listen
Gunner Helm is one of the foundational pieces
for this offense
he is one of those guys that this team can build around
he needs more opportunities
trade Chigaconquo
don't trade Chigacanquo I don't care
but Gunner Helm needs more opportunities
and over the last couple of weeks
we have seen Gunner Helm get more snaps
we've seen Chignaquo snaps come down
they're starting to meet each other
all right and it's almost time
where Gunner Helm needs to get more snaps
than Chigahawk
He's a better blocker. He's a better route runner. He has better hands. He's a bigger target for Cam Ward.
There is no reason right now to play Chica Conquo more than Gunner Helm.
Yes, Chigiconquo is a better yards after catch option, but use him as the secondary tight end that he was always meant to be.
Chica Conquo is not a number one tight end. Gunner Helm can be. It's time to let Gunner Helm play.
And listen, while we're talking about foundational pieces for the Titans, obviously we have Cam Ward.
but along with Gunner Helm
Alec Ayo Manor
been a little quiet
the last few weeks
hasn't really made a big play
in any kind of way
the Colts outside corners
they're not going to have
Chervarius Ward in this game
because he's on injured reserve
you're looking at Mackay Blackman
you're looking at Jonathan Edwards
I think those are guys
that the Titans could take advantage of
if Iyo can win
one-on-one matchups on the sideline
Chim Dike again needs to have
another big game he's got a tough task
though dealing with Kenny Moore
And then on the offensive line, I'm looking at J.C. Latham.
Laitu Lutu is the Colts best pass rusher.
He's going to be coming off the edge, and we know that Latham has struggled with speed.
He is a speed rusher.
So it's going to be a good test for J.C. Latham has had a struggle to start this year.
Can he get things going back good?
If not, K. Mord's going to be in trouble all day.
Latham, obviously, one of the building blocks for this team, and then Peter Skoronski.
He's going to have his hands full with Grover Stewart, DeForest Buckner,
going to be tough, but Skoronsky is a building block for this Titans team.
So for me, it's Cam Ward, Guntherhelm, Elylech, Jim D.K., Peter Skoronsky, J.C. Latham.
Those are the five guys on the offensive side of the ball that I think this team can really build
around and look. I would love to put Xavier Restrepo in this conversation and say we're going
to see him, but I just don't think that's going to be the case.
Now, if the Titans are going to win the game, they're going to have to run the football.
The Titans are a bottom three team in the NFL and rushing yards per game.
have not been able to have any consistency on the ground whatsoever.
I mean, it was a debacle last week under 50 yards rushing.
That's not going to work against this team.
If the Titans want to win, their offense is going to have to control the ball,
keep the ball out of the Colts high-powered offense's hand,
and that means that they're going to have to run it.
So not only if they run the ball, will it help time of possession,
will it extend drives, will it get the offense and rhythm,
it'll give Cam Ward shorter third-down situations,
which has been the problem all year long.
and the Titans must have answers for the pressure.
Luana Rumo is not Gus Bradley.
All right, he's not going to sit back in cover three and rush four consistently.
He's going to crowd the line of scrimmage.
He's going to bring pressure.
He's going to try to mess with Cam Ward,
and the Titans better have answers
because they did not have those answers
when they played the Colts last time.
The offensive line did okay,
but there was pressure from everywhere.
So,
Titans have to be ready for the multi-pressure looks
that the Colts are going to bring,
and then no turnovers.
No surprise there.
The Titans simply can't turn over the ball
and give easy opportunities to a good Colts offense.
The Titans need to do all the things that I talked about earlier.
Long drives.
Time of possession.
Keep the ball out of the hands of the Colts explosive offense.
That's what the Titans are going to have to do.
And if they turn over the ball on offense like they have been
and like Cam Ward has been,
they have no shot whatsoever.
So I'm looking for Cam Ward.
I'm looking for Gunner Helm.
I'm looking for J.C. Latham.
The Titans need to run the football.
They need to be ready for the pressure looks of the Colts
and have answers to that
and you're not going to be able to do that
if you're leaving in 7 to block all the time
and they cannot, they simply cannot turn over the football
but let's go to the defensive side of the ball.

Let's continue today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
We talked about who I think the foundational pieces are on the offensive side of the ball,
what I want to see from them in this game,
and my keys to victory if the Titans do intend to pull in us.
Now we're going to move to the defensive side of the ball where we do those same exact things.
Before we dive in though, thanks again for making Locked-on Titans.
Your first listen each and every day.
But the players I'm looking for on the defensive side of the ball in this one,
we start with Cedric Gray.
So, obviously,
the Tennessee Titans run defense is going to be key in this one.
Jonathan Taylor absolutely whooped them.
Last time they played and if they let the Colts run the football,
they have absolutely no chance whatsoever to win this game.
Go ahead and throw it out the window.
That's the number one key to victory for either side of the ball,
anything you want to look at.
If the Titans don't stop the run, they're in trouble.
And Cedric Gray is going to have the task
of basically trying to be the Titans' run defense by himself.
He's going to have a little help from our next player to watch
that we're going to talk about.
But the Titans' run defense has been terrible.
Cody Barton has been terrible with Femiola Dejo out.
the edge run defense hasn't been great
with Jeffrey Simmons missing this game
it's going to be even tougher
but Cedric Gray has been flying around
making plays shooting gaps
getting running backs on the ground
right now he's third in the NFL and total tackles
just an absolute excellent season
so far from the Titan second year linebacker
he's somebody that they can build around
going forward in the center of that defense
is Cedric Gray going to turn into an all pro pro bowl level player
actually I think yes
I think he might be that good of a player
Now, he's obviously going to need some help to continue to grow and become even better.
But what he's showed this year so far with his downhill aggressiveness,
his ability to tackle and not miss tackles,
he's getting better in coverage and recognizing route concepts and everything like that too.
Cedric Gray is someone the Titans defense can build around.
And with Tyler Warren out there making plays
and how the Colts like to attack the middle of the field with their drag routes across,
he's going to have his hands full and pass coverage and in run defense.
So we're going to need a big performance.
out of Cedric Gray, but obviously a foundational player.
The Titans can build around.
Tavondray Sweat is my next player to watch.
Now, obviously, Jeffrey Simmons is a foundational player for the Titans,
but I think Sweat can still be counted in that category as well.
Had a little bit of a breakout performance in the second half last week was making plays.
Rough start to the game.
You could tell that, you know, he was getting back into the swing.
But after he felt a little bit comfortable, I thought Sweat had a very good game.
And again, in this game, where stopping the run is of the utmost important,
to Vandre Sweat as somebody who has to have a big game and even more so.
Would Jeffrey Simmons likely not playing in this game?
Who is going to create the interior pressure that the Titans would need to disrupt Daniel Jones?
If you come around the edges, Titans can't really get edge pressure,
but even if they could, Daniel Jones can just step up.
He can escape out of the pocket.
He could move around.
He's going to be able to do that.
But if you bring that interior pressure and you set a firm edge and you don't get over it,
over-aggressive, there's nowhere to step up and you have nowhere to go.
All right.
So, in this game, Tevondre Sweat is going to be going against Tanner Bordellini,
Quentin Nelson, Matt Gonzalez, as I found out his name was pronounced after all the other
four different ways that I've heard it pronounce.
That's been a really good interior trio this year, but I think Tevondre Sweat can still win some of
those matchups.
And again, it can't just be in Rundi.
He's got to make an impact in pass rush as well, which he got his sack last week.
Nice to see that happen against Drake May, a mobile quarterback.
He's going to need more of that this week.
He really needs to take a major step up here with Jeffrey Simmons set to probably miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury.
But Tavondre Sweat, certainly a foundational player along with Jeffrey Simmons.
Femiola Dejo, obviously being a second round pick, he's going to be in there as well.
So Cedric Gray, Femi, Jeffrey Simmons, Tavondre Sweat, but need Cedric Gray and Tavondres
sweating this matchup since they'll be playing
to actually step up.
And I want to see more of Kevin Winston
because he got two snaps on defense last week.
He had one snap on defense the week before
and in the snaps that he was out there,
he actually made an impact.
He had a quarterback hit on a blitz off the slot
and the Titans need to do that more.
All right, because number one,
the safeties have been awful.
Like Ammoni Hooker,
Xavier Woods,
Quadra Diggs have not been good lately
last couple of weeks
and Ammoni Hooker has quite frankly been a disaster
all season long
and it's not just about
you know
we need to get Kevin Winston going to get him going
like they need to get him going because he needs
to replace some of these safeties by the end of the season
like Kevin Winston should be getting
80, 90% defensive snaps
by the end of the year because
it's not just about adding Kevin Winston into the mix on defense
Kevin Winston needs to start next year
and replace these bad safeties.
It's that simple.
Ammoni Hooker has been terrible.
So it's not just about
adding help to the defense with a young guy
who can make plays, which is indeed what they need.
But they need to get him ready to take over
as a starter by the end of the year
or at least starting next year, period.
Just some other guys too.
I want to see more Marcus Harris.
Daryl Baker, Jalen Armar Davis.
Why not just get some looks at Marcus Harris,
the guy you drafted in the 6th round this year?
How much worse can it actually be?
I want to see some Marcus Harrison.
With how bad Cody Barton has been,
can we get a little James Williams?
Even for a series, just to see what it's like?
You know what I mean?
Like, again, that's why, you know,
I put the thumbnail on YouTube, youth movement.
Like, the Titans need to play younger guys.
They're not going to win this game.
The season is over.
The, like, the only focus going forward
should be on getting young guys ready to go.
And Mike McCoy said, like, you know, it's a balance.
We want to play young guys, but, you know,
we want to win as many games as we can.
Well, you're not going to, Mike.
You're not going to win very many games.
So, I need to see some of these young players
get some opportunities.
Now, if the Titans, for some reason,
somehow, some way, some miracle,
were to win this game.
on defense, like I said, they have to stop the run.
They have absolutely no chance whatsoever
if the courts run the football.
In the passing game,
they got to get interior pressure,
whether it's Sebastian Joseph Day,
whether it's Cedric Gray on a blitz,
whether it's Tavondre Sweat pushing the pocket back,
Blake Lynch having a miracle run,
Jihad Ward on the inside if he plays.
The Titans have to get pressure
from the interior to bother Daniel Jones.
If they get pressure from the edges,
it's just not going to do enough
because the interior will be fortified
and he can just step up and make throws.
So, they have to get interior pressure on Daniel Jones.
And finally, they got to get lucky.
I talked about this yesterday.
Like, the coach just have to play bad.
That's part of this.
The Titans are a much worse team, much worse coaching.
At some point, the coach just kind of got to throw the game away.
that's what the Titans have to be hoping for
is, you know, there's a fumbled snap,
a missed kick, penalties,
you know, false starts
and stuff like that.
That's the kind of weird stuff the Titans have to
have to ask for if they're going to win this game.
So I don't think that it's likely,
but if they're going to do it,
on defense, it's stopping the run,
getting interior pressure,
and getting a little bit lucky as well.
But with that being said,
time to get in my predictions for this game,
we'll do my game and score prediction,
some gambling and some fantasy as well.
Well, do want to let you guys know that today's episode is brought to you by Mazda's
moving the game forward moment of the week.
For those who believe it's not just about playing the game, it's about redefining it.
These are moments that do more than put points on the board.
They move crowds, they move culture, and they keep the game moving forward.
This week's moment that moved the game forward is the performance of Chim D.K.
the Titans rookie wide receiver out of Florida
had his best game as a wide receiver.
So far, four catches, 70 yards, and a touchdown.
Had another big return for 31 yards.
Right now, Chim Ray DK leads the AFC in total all-purpose yards.
He has been absolutely phenomenal in the role that he was expected to play this season.
And I think he's getting close to even outdoing the expectations
that we might have had for him going into this season.
So Chim Ray DK is the Mazda moving the game forward player of the week and moment of the week.
When you follow what moves you, the unexpected is only the beginning.
And just like there's more to every highlight, there's more to a Mazda vehicle.
It's Mazda move and be moved.
Titans fans, let's cap off today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast.
Little game plan Friday did things a little different this time.
We did some offense and defense.
We're talking about the foundational pieces of the roster and who should be around
and what we should see from them because the odds are
the Tennessee Titans are not going to win this game.
Now, before I tell you exactly what I think the score is going to be,
I do want to thank you again for making Lockdown Titans.
You were at first, listen each and every day.
remember Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content all year round, always for free.
Make sure you get subscribe, stay subscribed. It's your team every day.
But if you guys haven't figured it out, I don't think the Titans are going to win, okay?
I am not expecting a win from this team against the Colts.
The Colts are at home this time.
The Titans got beat by 21.
Now, I will tell you, I do it think it'll be closer this time.
I have the Colts winning this game 33 to 16.
I think the Titans, offense is going to play a little bit better than it has as of late.
They're not going to score as much as they did in the first matchup with the Colts
because I honestly don't think that they have a better play caller on staff than Brian Callahan.
Like if Brian Callahan was just the offensive coordinator,
I think the Titans would be better right now on offense than they are.
I do think, as I said before it happened,
that Brian Callahan shouldn't give up play calling due.
The Titans' offense has gotten significantly worse since he did,
that that was the only thing that Brian Callahan did well was design and call plays.
It was all the other stuff that he was terrible at,
and ultimately that's enough to be fired as the head coach,
but, you know, the Titans' offense will, I think, suffer a little bit.
And I know a lot of you already saying suffer a little bit,
like they're already suffering so much,
but I do think they're a little bit worse on offense
with Brian Callahan not calling plays.
so I don't think that the Colts will score as much either
I think we're going to get to a point where this one's pretty out of reach
like it's you know 33 to 9 in the fourth quarter
and the Titans score a late touchdown something like that
but this is just a total outmatching from every angle you know
and what it would require for the Titans to win this game
Calvin Ridley's not going to play
the Jerry is Snead probably going on I are
Jeffrey Simmons is not going to play
in this game
probably no Arden Key
will they have Jahad Ward
even I mean think about what we're saying here
we're like man I hope Jihad Ward plays
Jahad Ward
who they got off the scrap heat before the season
his team's in a bad spot
and even if things are a little more competitive
score-wise because it's closer
I don't think this game is going to be much more competitive
than the 41 to 20 beat down
that they gave the Titans in week 3
The Colts are just on right now, folks.
There's nothing else to say.
I was wrong about them.
Most of you were wrong about them.
Most Colts fans were wrong about the Colts.
Colts fans were having a meltdown before the season
about Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson
and who should start and how bad they're going to be this season.
And it's funny now that they're throwing parades
when those people were throwing depression parties before the season.
And now they're like, oh, Daniel Jones, he's the best.
You didn't believe in him either.
But anyways, moving right along.
Whatever you want to say, whatever you want to call it,
The Colts are playing great football right now.
They're one of the best teams in the entire NFL.
And the Titans are the worst team in the NFL.
Like, you could say the Jets, maybe, sure.
But it's the Jets and the Titans,
and they're significantly worse than everybody else.
So I just can't pick them to win right now.
I can't trust them to do anything right.
33 to 16, and honestly, I might be giving them too much credit.
But with that being said, obviously,
we get to keep it at plus 100, and I can't bet on the Titan.
14 and a half is nuts, though.
Like, that is an insane spread.
And everything in my body and my soul
that has ever known anything about football gambling
tells me you've got to take 14 and a half points.
That is insane in the NFL to have a 14 and a half point spread.
But the Titans are that bad, folks.
Like, if you look at lines
and you can derive value from the lines,
like, if you guys don't know if it's,
if two teams are equal,
like they're you know
Fandle thinks that they're just the same amount of good
the home team is going to be a three-point favorite
and the further you get away from three points
shows how good or bad
like if the Titans were at home
they would be minus 11 and a half
but 14 and a half shows just how bad
they think the Titans
are. I think if like you set a line,
I would be curious to see what the line would be against the Jets
because I think this is just another way of saying
the Titans are the worst team in the NFL.
I actually think the Titans might have the longest line
against the Colts in Indianapolis of any team we see all year.
So your instincts
as a better would tell you to take the 14 and a half,
but I simply can't do it.
I think the Titans might actually just be that bad.
46.5 is interesting, though.
I think I would take the over on 46.5.
The Colts are going to score points.
I think the Titans again are going to get, you know,
a late-time garbage-time touchdown in there.
33 to 16 is 49, so I'm going to take the over.
But you guys know I hate over-unders.
I just hate over-unders.
They're not for me.
So I wouldn't follow me there.
But 14 and a half is a lot of points.
I just can't lay it on this Titans team.
I can't.
They're the worst football team I've ever seen.
But, as for my beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy player of the week,
I am going with Gunner Helm.
I told you he's one of my players to watch.
I think with the Titans being down so much in this game,
they're going to check it down to Gunner Helm quite a bit.
I think even in a neutral game script early in the game
when the game is relatively close, just because it's early,
I think Gunner Helm will get involved.
I think the Titans are going to want to go with a lot of heavy,
tight-end personnel here and get the Colts out of their base nickel defense.
So I think we're going to see a lot of two tight end, a lot of three tight end,
which means a lot of Gunner Helm.
So I think he's going to have a lot of opportunities this week.
I think Gunner Helm gets his first touchdown of his career this week.
I'm going with a Gunner Helm touchdown.
He is my beautiful dark fantasy,
my beautiful dark twisted fantasy player of the week
if you're looking for a little bit of a sleeper.
But that's going to do it for me today, folks.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland.
And this was Locked on Titans.
You know,
