Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast.
I am your host, Tyler Rowland.
Titans fans, today's Monday edition of the Locked on Titans podcast is brought to you
by rockauto.com.

free agent signing vick beasley finally reported to training camp we are going to start off today's
show talking about what that means and what comes next for vick beasley as he begins the process
of catching up to his Titans teammates.
And then we also heard from four different Tennessee Titans on Friday.
Let's hear their reactions and their words of encouragement for Vic Beasley as he joins
the team.
So excited to bring you those comments as well.
And then we will cap off today's show talking about the Locked on Titans Fantasy Football
League.
I'm going to announce the first four official contestants in the league, when the draft
will be, and what we will officially be playing for.
So really excited to get into all of that with you guys.
Of course, if you don't know already, you can get your automatic entry into the Locked
On Titans Fantasy Football League by sending me a confirmation of you on rockauto.com putting
in the code LOCKEDON in the how did you hear about us box for your purchase.
That'll guarantee your spot in the league.
And to get more information about the league and more content Monday through Friday on
the Tennessee Titans, subscribe to the Locked on Titans podcast on Apple podcast, follow
on Spotify or whatever platform you do stream.
But we have a lot to talk about today in terms of what will happen next for Vic Beasley now that Beasley
Watch 2020 is over.
Let's get it.
Throughout the first few weeks of training camp around the NFL,
if you looked at the storyline surrounding each team
and you had to pick which storyline was the most quote-unquote drama-filled
throughout the entire league,
you may end up selecting Vic Beasley's absence from Tennessee Titans training camp. It's very
uncommon to see a newly signed free agent miss this sort of time, especially combined with the
mandatory fines that Beasley was being hit with, $50,000 every single day. Well, after a total of
a half a million dollars worth of fines were assessed to Beasley,
he finally arrived to Titans training camp on Friday, August the 6th.
Now, Beasley will begin the process that his teammates were already 10 days into.
Taking his COVID test, coming back with multiple negative results on those tests,
having one day of quarantine in between.
And then ultimately beginning his equipment fitting and physical.
So taking a look at the calendar right now.
Vic Beasley will have to pass a COVID-19 test.
Come back with negative results on day one.
Day two another COVID-19 test.
Hopefully with negative results.
Day three a quarantine for Vic Beasley.
Day four, another, a third COVID-19 test has to come back negative.
And then the day after that, Beasley will be allowed into the Titans facility to begin,
as I mentioned, his equipment fitting.
And then we'll have to pass his physical.
After that, if you've noticed the players who showed up on time,
they didn't go directly from the physical portion of the ramp-up period directly into on-field activities. There were conditioning phases in between. So, when Beasley does arrive, although
he will make it before the Titans' first padded practice on August 17th he will have to have that necessary ramp up period that was
negotiated by the players association before he will be able to join his teammates in normal team
activities on the field so although Beasley is getting to Titans training camp before the pads
go on he is still going to be largely behind the rest of his Titans teammates who showed up on time.
This obviously hurts Beasley than it would hurt other members of the Titans team since
he is a new free agent acquisition, is not familiar with the defense, has never played
with one of the primary defensive coaches that the Titans have on the staff, and isn't
familiar with any of his teammates teammates how they like to do things
think about a stunt on the defensive line with the defensive tackle moving to the outside to try to
take the defensive ends man so the defensive end can loop underneath something that Vic Beasley
is very good at that we showcased on a Tic Tac Titans film breakdown on Twitter and also something
that has been discussed in the Titans media as well Beasley's
ability on stunts well part of the success that you can have on those types of plays is having
chemistry between the two players who are running it know exactly what spot they're going to be at
on the field those sort of things are going to be delayed but the reality is if Beasley is able to
catch up quickly and produce on Sundays, all will be forgiven.
And by the comments from his Titans teammates over the weekend, it seems obvious that the Titans locker room is ready to welcome Beasley in with open arms so that he can help this ball club.
John Robinson, Titans general manager, made this signing because Beasley is someone who at peak performance can help this Titans ball club
immensely. That wasn't the only news from over the weekend for the Titans. Titans new free agent
acquisition also coincidentally coming over from the Atlanta Falcons defensive lineman Jack Crawford
was placed on the COVID reserve list. We don't know whether Crawford himself tested positive
for COVID-19 or if he
has just come into contact with someone who has, but we do know that he was placed on the reserve
list and will not be allowed off the list and be allowed to rejoin his teammates until he is
cleared on multiple tests and has days of quarantine. The issue with this, like Beasley,
is that Crawford is a new member of the Tennessee Titans,
and any missed time whatsoever can severely put him behind on the learning curve.
Speaking of curves, if your car is having trouble maybe taking a curve,
you might want to check out the power steering, and if there are any repairs that need to be done,
then you have to go to rockauto.com. Before I dive into all the benefits you can get from shopping at rockauto.com, I do want
to remind you that at the end of our show today, I am going to be discussing the Locked

Amazing selection, reliably low prices,
all the parts your car will ever need, rockauto.com.
To start off our show, I gave you my thoughts and the general step-by-step process on Vic Beasley
so you know exactly what comes next and what he'll have to do to get into the normal flow of things with the actual team.
Gave you my analysis and some of the cons that have come from this situation, even if Vic Beasley has returned to the team.
One thing that I didn't mention is it is a little bit of a conspiracy theory.
You get your 10 foil hats on, but why did Beasley do this?
Concerns over COVID-19 are an obvious answer,
but there are some rumblings along the interwebs
that this was a pseudo holdout that
Vic Beasley is upset about the Jadavian Clowney rumors that are connected to the Titans the amount
of money that's being discussed between Clowney and the Titans and Beasley thinks that the Titans
should maybe pay him a little bit more money if they're willing to have that money left over for
Clowney now that like said, is a complete conspiracy
theory. I didn't want to make it too official or give it too much room, but hey, just something to
mention. I wonder, just like you all wonder, why this took place, and until Vic Beasley is put in
front of a microphone, or better yet, in front of a laptop for a Zoom conference for someone to ask
him that question, we won't know for certain, but if Beasley ever does answer this question,
I will be the first to not only report it for you guys, but give you my analysis.
But not my analysis is the focus of this segment right here.
But what do Vic Beasley's teammates have to say about his return to the team?
We got some quotes from Kenny Vaccaro, from Daquan Jones, who will be teammates of Vic
Beasley on the defensive side of the football, but also got some information from Roger Saffold,
who knows a lot about Vic Beasley from his times going against him.
So I will bring you that audio now, courtesy of TennesseeTitans.com.
We will start with somewhat of a defensive leader at the safety position,
and that is Kenny Vaccaro talking about how the defense will welcome Vic Beasley
now that he has arrived to Titans training camp.
I've never met the guy.
I'm excited to get to meet him.
Whatever was going on before training camp and him getting here late
has nothing to
do with me that's his personal business you don't know what's what somebody's going through
their situation this has been a crazy year 2020 so I'm not judging anybody for when they show up
to camp if they opt out or all types of things this year so you know I'm just I'm focused on
you know my brothers that are here and this team
and, you know, John and Coach Vrabel and I'm sure they're handling whatever that situation.
Kenny makes some really great points there about the uniqueness of 2020 and how maybe
this year more than others is time to save judgment with everything that's going on.
But I do want to bring notice and
attention to the last comment that you know John and Coach Rabel got everything under control well
we know from comments from Mike Rabel that he really hasn't had much discussion with Vic Beasley
whatsoever his most recent even after the statement from John Robinson that he's had contact with Vic Beasley,
Mike Vrabel's press conference, he said he hadn't talked to him since.
So, you know, it wasn't like the lines of communication were constantly open
and Robinson and Mike Vrabel knew what was going on the whole time.
And they admitted they didn't know.
They hadn't talked to him.
There wasn't a lot of communication.
So keep that in mind as we hear these additional comments from additional people. they admitted they didn't know. They hadn't talked to him. There wasn't a lot of communication. So
keep that in mind as we hear these additional comments from additional people. But I think it
is worth noting, one, that Kenny Vaccaro makes some good points about 2020 being very strange
and not judging people's decisions or the time that they take. But also bring attention to
Kenny Vaccaro saying, you know, John and Mike got it under control.
That's something interesting that we'll see as a common theme
throughout these answers.
Moving forward, but staying on the defense
and staying within the defensive pass rush unit,
Daquan Jones, who doesn't talk a lot,
isn't doing a lot of media availability,
but I enjoy his candor for the most part.
Very intelligent answer.
Seems like a very thoughtful guy.
And the most tenured Titan on defense.
He was around for a lot of the rough times,
the roughest times that we remember
as people who follow the Titans.
So having Daquan put some perspective on Vic Beasley
was an interesting thing to hear.
I mean, yeah, I mean, come in and just catch him up as fast as we can. I mean,
I don't know why he was gone. That's something Coach Red Bull and John would know. I mean,
you know, just know when he comes in, just embrace him and help him learn to play as
fast as he can and get the ball rolling. Again, two big things of note coming off of that comment from Daquan Jones.
Number one, it is all about the playbook, really.
If Vic Beasley is in shape, which as a professional athlete
who just skipped 10 days of training camp,
where most of it is testing and conditioning and a physical,
so Beasley must be confident in his physical shape so after
that it all becomes the mental battle learning the playbook and especially like I mentioned in
the first segment a defensive tackle someone who's going to be working stunts and working
directly it's just like how a guard and an offensive tackle have to be on the same page
or a center and a guard for their combo blocks and getting up to the second level when they're
going to do certain double teams what technique they're going to use against certain
pass rush alignments and formations and fronts that they see it's the same thing for the defensive
tackle and the defensive end edge rush outside linebacker whatever you want to call it it's just
an edge defender there so having Beasley and someone like a Daquan Jones or Jeffrey Simmons be on the same page based
on not only the playbook and knowing the play itself but how they individually want to do things
and the chemistry they have between one another that's very important as well so Daquan having
that sort of focus with Vic Beasley will be important but secondly the second point comes back to like Daquan just said there as
long as head coach Mike Mike Vrabel general manager John Robinson know what's going on but well they
didn't know what was going on so a lot of these guys that's two comments in a row basically saying
as long as coach and and GM know what's going on or in communication, then, you know, that's all right, blah, blah, blah.
But he didn't have that communication really with them.
So that's interesting.
And you don't want to press guys or be too antagonistic
in these Zoom conferences.
As a reporter, obviously, you're just lucky to have any access at this point
with this sort of situation that we are in because of COVID-19.
So you're not going to press anybody's buttons really at this time.
But an interesting follow-up would have been.
What's your comment on the situation?
Knowing that there wasn't any communication.
But at the end of the day these guys are professionals.
And at some point as mentioned in the next comment.
It could be them in that situation.
In a pseudo holdout or an absence from training camp.
So you don't want to crush your
teammates that are just joining the team so that makes a lot of sense too but I guess that's what
I am here for is to fairly and you know reasonably in an unbiased way give you my take on the
situation but the next take that we are going to hear comes from someone on the offensive side of
the ball and that is Roger Saffold. Saffold has
actually played against Vic Beasley before so he had some really interesting comments about his
play style what he can bring to a defensive pass rush as an offensive lineman what you fear from
Vic Beasley or how he can beat you or throw you off so I really enjoyed Saffold's perspective
being an offensive lineman
who's going against Vic Beasley.
This is what he had to say.
Honestly, you know, I don't know the situation going on with that at all.
So I don't really want to comment on that.
But all I can say is that, you know, hey, everybody goes through things.
I go through things.
Different people on the team go through things.
And it's all about how we handle it.
And as long
as the coaches and GM knows what's going on I always know they'll look after us but the one
thing I know that this team is going to do is we're going to support them we're going to love
them and we're going to just bring them in and we're going to work with them day in and day out
just popping in real quick right here in the middle of Roger Saffold's comment to bring more
attention to as long as the GM and the coach know what's going on.
Well, they didn't.
All right, back to the regularly scheduled Roger Saffold comments
about Vic Beasley.
I think that it's pretty obvious.
I mean, he has such great speed off the edge.
I mean, he's very, very athletic.
He's strong.
And, you know, you really get great production out of him.
You know, I think that that's just an excellent quality to have,
bringing him onto the team.
And then, you know, you look at a lot of our younger guys
who are just constantly making plays.
And, you know, just that consistency from our entire defensive line,
I mean, it's going to be extremely, extremely helpful.
He's got some power to speed the power game
because people are worried about the speed.
And I don't know, man.
I'm just really excited to just have him on our defense.
I think that that's a great piece to add to the team.
That's some excellent analysis there from Roger Saffold about Vic Beasley
and what his best skill as a pass rusher is.
He certainly doesn't have any fantastic moves,
as I've broken down earlier this offseason,
but he most certainly has the speed
to get around the edge, and if he can catch people off guard with the speed, get them on their heels,
and then use a little bit of power, he can make a lot of splash plays for the Titans defense. Feel
like it's a good spot, being positive, end on a positive. The holdout is over. Beasley Watch 2020
is over. Now it's time to focus on what he can do to improve this football
team but hopefully that is the last time that we talk about Vic Beasley in regards to his absence
from Titans training camp and everything else will be about his actual play on the field next
we are going to talk about the lockeded On Titans Fantasy Football League. I told
you earlier in the show how to get an automatic entry into the league by taking advantage of the
Locked On promo code on rockauto.com and sending that confirmation to me on Twitter at TicTac
Titans. We are going to talk about the specifics of the league. When is the draft going to be?
We are going to talk about the specifics of the league.
When is the draft going to be?
What are the scoring settings going to be?
The rosters?
What will be the prize? We will talk about all of that next.
The Locked On Titans Fantasy Football League will have its annual opening season here in 2020, a very strange year of course, but I feel like if we start the Fantasy Football
League now, then every year after this will be a little bit easier.
Either way, I'm going to win the league, but I want you guys to be a part of it.
I've had discussions with a lot of you on Twitter through DMs or just regular tweets
about the league, about your interest in the league, getting a lot of interest internationally
from New Zealand, the UK, Southern America.
So that stuff, I must say, really warms my heart.
Thank you so much for listening in America, of course, but listening overseas.
Definitely do appreciate all of our international listeners quite a bit since football isn't
a huge deal there.
So appreciate you guys.
But anyone can get in the league and a lot of you have asked
exactly how you can and some of you have already confirmed your spot so what I want to do is I want
to lay out the details of the league what my plan is here how you can automatically enter even though
I covered that earlier in the show rockauto.com so we'll do that we'll talk about that and i'll announce the four confirmed
members of the league so far so number one the draft will take place on august the 29th that is
the saturday two weeks from now so this upcoming saturday the 15th two weeks from then. So this upcoming Saturday, the 15th, two weeks from then, the 29th, the draft will be 8 p.m.
Eastern Standard Time when I get everyone in a group message for the league when all
of the contestants are confirmed.
We can alter the date, edit the, not the date, edit the time since there will be different
time zones represented.
We can talk about that more.
But the 29th, Saturday night, is when I would like to have it.
It's about two weeks before the season will kick off.
Well, about 10 days or so.
But that's what I'm planning on right now, the 29th.
There will be 12 people.
It will be a typical lineup with one flex position.
It will be PPR, which is point per reception,
if you aren't familiar with the terminology, the fantasy lingo there.
The winner will get to join me in the offseason for an entire Locked on Titans podcast.
You will be my co-host for a day.
So I'll have you on for the entire episode,
let you maybe decide a segment in the show,
and you can just give your analysis and your thoughts on whatever happens to be
the prominent stories of the day, of the episode.
So I think that'll be really fun.
And I also think that maybe one segment a week,
maybe on Friday to replace our Friday mailbag during the season,
maybe on a Monday, maybe.
Either way, I'll work that out,
but might have a member of the league on
who had an awesome performance.
I will have a segment every week
where I give an update, a highlight of what's going on
in the Locked On Titans Fantasy Football League.
So it'll be a lot of fun throughout the season,
and it'll be a good way for me and you guys to kind of connect even more, grow that relationship even more.
It's really the best part about all of this is having an experience with all of you guys as we go through this wonderful thing called football.
But that's the plan right now.
There will be no buy-in.
There will be no money.
I don't think that's the right way to do it.
We're having fun here. I don't want to have the right way to do it. We're having fun here.
I don't want to have people have to have money to be able to get into the league.
All that I am asking is you go to rockauto.com, you make a purchase,
and you put locked on in the how did you hear about us box.
Send me that confirmation on Twitter at TicTacTitans,
and you'll have an automatic entry into the league to face off against me
in fantasy football with a chance to be a co-host for a day as the ultimate prize. Now,
what you've all been waiting for. Let's do the first four members out of the 11 spots. So after
this, we'll have seven remaining spots, it's a first come first serve basis guys
send me those rockauto.com confirmations i'll confirm that you're in and i'll announce it
on the next available segment basically but i will keep track of who got in first
so let's get into the first four members with a pseudo laptop drum roll.
Random Sports Fan.
I don't know your name because it's not on your Twitter
anywhere, but you've been a very
loyal follower of me
on Twitter at TicTacTitans.
I really do appreciate going
back and forth with you on things.
Excited to have you in the league. That's
Random Sports Fan.
His at on Twitter is at ReigningRunnerUp.
So you are confirmed.
You are in.
Next, someone who is a frequent asker of questions in the Friday mailbag.
We have Colin Light.
Colin Light, you are the next confirmed member of the Locked on Titans Fantasy Football League.
At Colin Light on Twitter.
And then next we have Jeff McCullough.
Jeff at JeffMcCullough3 on Twitter.
Jeff is in the Locked on Titans Fantasy Football League.
And then finally, the last person who will be announced today.
Remember, if you want to be announced next, send those confirmations from rockauto.com.
And I understand you may not need anything from rockauto.com at this moment in time,
but there are wiper blades and air fresheners and all kinds of small items that are worthy of a purchase.
Just throw that locked on in the how did you hear about us box when you do it and send it to me. But the last person who will get their entry today is
Kyle Robb, at Kyle F. Robb on Twitter.
Kyle, you are the fourth confirmed member in the Locked on Titans Fantasy Football League.
Obviously, I'm the fifth confirmed member, so maybe you're the fifth member.
Either way, it's all semantics at this point.
But those are the four people who are confirmed in like I said I've gotten a lot of interest from a lot of different people but the official entry since there is no buy-in there is no money to
get into the league just go ahead and make a purchase at rockauto.com throw locked on in the
how did you hear about us box send that confirmation to me on twitter at TicTacTitans, and you will get your automatic entry into the Locked on Titans Fantasy Football League.
So I'm really excited to undertake this adventure with you guys.
Really excited to have a good fantasy football league to go to that we can discuss on the show.
Like I said, just bring you guys and me that much closer together as we continue this journey called football that
we love so much.
But that is going to do it for this Monday episode of the Locked on Titans podcast.
We should be getting some major on-field work taking off soon here from the Titans, so should
have some good things to talk about going forward.
But that'll do it for today's show.
As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on
Titans.
