On yesterday's edition of the Locked On Titans Podcast, we started part one of a little bit
of a thought experiment, a little bit of an exercise I wanted to go through with you guys
where we steal a player off another NFL
team and add them to the Tennessee Titans. Yesterday, we went team by team, division by
division through the AFC. If you missed that episode, make sure that you go back and check
that out. And today, we are going with leg two of the conversation. Part two will be the NFC.
We're going to go team by team, division by division.
And I will tell you who I think the Titans would steal off of that team
to give them a better chance at making the Super Bowl.
Going to dive into that.
And remember, having a little bit of fun, I'm going to say the name of the team,
pause for a little bit to give you guys a chance to give your
answer, and then I'll give my answer after just a brief pause.
See how many of those you guys can guess that I'm going to choose, and of course, let me
know how you feel about my choices on Twitter, at TicTacTitans, and that's actually how we
are going to lead off our first segment.
So getting into part two of who the Tennessee Titans would steal from the other teams in
the NFL on this Friday edition of the Locked On Titans podcast.
Let's get it!
We are going to dive into the NFC,
and I'm going to tell you which player off each team I think that the Titans would steal.
But before we get into that,
got to remind you guys that training camp is right around the corner,
and that's why the next few weeks on the Locked on Titans podcast
are going to be jam-packed.
Next week is our last week of three shows.
We are going to do a division preview before training camp looking at the Jacksonville
Jaguars, looking at the Houston Texans, and looking at the Indianapolis Colts.
The week after that, we are back to five days a week as I get you guys ready for Tennessee
Titans training camp
at the end of the month.
Folks, I can smell the Titans football in the air and I hope you can too.
So make sure that you never miss an episode of the Locked on Titans podcast by following
or subscribing to the show on whatever platform you do stream.
Already told you to follow me on Twitter at TicTacTitan so you can tell me how wrong I
am about the people and the players that I choose in this experiment, but also follow
us on Facebook at LockedOnTitansPod.
But before we get into our first division, I do have to take a moment and correct what
I would consider a mistake of mine. And I got to give a shout out to Andrew Rowan and Tyler Chandler on Twitter
who came at me and said,
how did you not pick Darren Waller on the Raiders?
And quite honestly, just an oversight by me.
It's not like Darren Waller plays one of the positions
that the Titans could use a big upgrade on.
Wait, what's that?
Check.
Okay, so according to my notes, Darren Waller does in fact play one of the Titans most needed
positions.
So it is truly that egregious.
But I say all that in jest, just an oversight by me.
Went with Max Crosby, had some other names on the list, didn't have Darren Waller.
Of course, if I could go back, Darren Waller would be the player that the Titans would
steal from the Raiders.
But just wanted to give a friendly shout out to Aaron Rowan or Andrew Rowan and Tyler Chandler
who threw some shade my way, deserved shade my way earlier on Thursday after that episode
came out.
But of course, if you missed yesterday's episode, check out the AFC there.
But I'm going to dive into our first division for the NFC, and it's the NFC South.
And we're going to start with the Atlanta Falcons.
And I hate to do this to you, Art, but I would steal from the Atlanta Falcons their first-round pick, tight end, Kyle Pitts.
Now, I may be trying to atone for my Darren Waller mistakes here, but either way, I'm going with Kyle Pitts. Now I may be trying to atone for my Darren Waller mistakes here, but either way,
I'm going with Kyle Pitts. Thought about Calvin Ridley. Deion Jones at linebacker definitely
would help the Titans flying around the field. Grady Jarrett, another guy on the interior
defensive line who's fantastic, but I just outlined the need that the Titans have at tight end,
and I do think Kyle Pitts has a chance to be one of those elite tight ends that everyone in the NFL is searching for.
So that's who I would take.
For the Carolina Panthers, I would take edge rusher Brian Burns.
Now I know some of you guys may be surprised by this.
Christian McCaffrey, definitely an option.
Could play slot wide receiver for the Titans.
Would definitely help spell Derrick Henry
and give them a double-headed monster in the backfield.
But Christian McCaffrey does get hurt a lot, and it's something that would concern me as
a Titans fan.
You want somebody with durability, and Brian Burns is such a young player with his star
shining so brightly in Carolina and his ability to get to the quarterback.
I would go with Brian Burns.
I also considered interior defensive lineman Derrick, J.C. Horn, the rookie corner,
but ultimately Brian Burns is the guy that I went with for the New Orleans Saints.
I spun that theory on its head and I went with Alvin Kamara.
Alvin Kamara, while having some injury concerns, of course, has proved to be a little bit more
durable than CMC, at least in recent seasons.
So I'll go with Kamara, who gives you
the receiving and the rushing ability that would pair perfectly with Derrick Henry. You can use
Kamara as a pure wide receiver if you need to. So I don't think having Kamara and Henry would,
you know, diminish either of the players. They have some great players on the offensive line.
They have Eric McCoy at center, Taron Armstead, Ryan Ramchick at tackle. Of course, you could go with either of those. Michael Thomas, although people give him a lot of flack for his
route tree. Michael Thomas is an excellent receiver. Cam Jordan on the defensive line,
Marshawn Lattimore at cornerback, a lot of good options, but I think Alvin Kamara would take this
offense to the next level, and you can rely on him to be out there. For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a stacked roster,
but for the Bucs, my player was Devin White, the young linebacker.
Again, I think having a rangy, do-it-all linebacker,
one of the top five best interior linebackers in the NFL,
I think that would fundamentally change the ceiling of the Titans' defense
from a defense
that can be average to a defense that can be good, that can be top 10.
So with that in mind, have to take Devin White.
Of course, you look at Mike Evans, you look at Chris Godwin, Tom Brady's name is going
to come up.
You look at Ryan Jensen at center, Tristan Wurst, the young right or left tackle, very
good player as well on defense.
Shaq Barrett, Carlton Davis.
I mean, they have a stacked roster.
So it was tough to pick, but I'm going to go with Devin White
and improve that inside linebacker spot for the Titans,
which is something they're going to have to do long-term anyways.
Now, before we get into the other divisions in the NFC,

Titans fans, we are going to continue stealing players from other teams
and putting them on the Tennessee Titans.
We are in the midst of the NFC right now.
We just did the NFC South.
Falcons, I took Kyle Pitts.
Panthers, I took Brian Burns.
Saints, I took Alvin Kamara.
Buccaneers, I took Devin White. We are going to
get into the NFC East next or the NFC Least based on what their teams were able to do last year. It
was like, you know, nobody wanted to take that playoff spot, but the Washington football team
ultimately got it. And this year I expect that division, while not being fantastic, will still be ultra competitive.
But starting with the Dallas Cowboys, I went with offensive lineman Zach Martin, who eventually
is going to be a Hall of Famer, one of the greatest offensive linemen of the generation.
Now the Cowboys do have some talent out there.
You look at Demarcus Lawrence along the defensive line,
definitely could help out the Titans,
but some issues there in my mind about how he would fit into the locker room.
You also have some talented wide receivers in Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb.
I would lean CeeDee Lamb just based on age
and everything that he's able to do from
an explosive standpoint. Tyron Smith on the offensive line is obviously another guy that
you would have to take a look at, but he's an older guy, dealt with a lot of injuries,
and while Zach Morton's had his fair share of bang-ups here in his career, that's exactly where
I would go. I would slot him in at right tackle immediately and give the Titans the best offensive line in the entire NFL.
Next, the New York Giants.
I'm going with cornerback James Bradbury,
who I think is one of the top 10 cornerbacks in the NFL.
Now, my instinct led me to Leonard Williams,
the interior defensive lineman.
And funny side story, I've told this story before,
but when the Titans ultimately drafted Marcus Mariota,
I wanted them to ride Zach Mettenberger and take Leonard Williams.
Oh, man, not my best take.
And I know Marcus didn't completely work out,
but he led the Titans to a playoff win, had a lot of fantastic moments.
I would not have traded
what we got with Marcus for Leonard Williams I wouldn't have done that so I was wrong on that
and my but I really like Leonard Williams he's been a really good NFL player and he would pair
really well with Jeffrey Simmons but ultimately I think the Titans would get more value out of
bringing in a top 10 cornerback to pair with Janoris Jenkins. Not Caleb Farley and Christian Fulton down a peg.
I think that would really take the Titans from kind of an average secondary,
maybe a low-end secondary to one of the better secondaries in the NFL.
Next, you look at the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles.
And in the same vein, I went with cornerback Darius Slay.
Now, again, like Leonard Williams, you have a great defensive line option and in the same vein, I went with cornerback Darius Slay.
Now, again, like Leonard Williams,
you have a great defensive line option in Fletcher Cox.
You also have some great options on the offensive line with Kelsey, Jason Kelsey at center,
Brandon Brooks at guard,
who I know is coming off some serious injuries,
but still a fantastic player.
Lane Johnson, who I'm not a big fan of his personality, but he's a hell of a player. It's undeniable. Also, Miles Sanders, as a guy who
could maybe pair with Derrick Henry and give you a lot out of the backfield. You could even run
those guys together. Imagine running the King Cat or the Wild King, and you got Miles Sanders
coming in motion to take that jet suite from Derrick Henry. I mean, that would just threaten NFL defenses in an entirely different way
than the Titans can do right now.
So that was my choice there.
Darius Slay, the cornerback.
Again, you add a top 10, top 12 cornerback in the NFL to this Titans secondary.
And I think it just takes the Titans defense and the secondary group
to an entirely new level that they wouldn't
be able to accomplish on their own. The last team was honestly one of the easiest teams that I went
through, although they have a lot of good talent, and that was the Washington football team.
If you aren't picking Chase Young, then you're insane. You're insane. The guy's already a top
five, top seven edge rusher in the NFL just after his rookie year.
The Predator, man, absolutely would be my pick. No question about it. No hesitation. Now, that's
not to say that the football team doesn't have some good talent. Terry McLaurin, solid wide
receiver. Brandon Scherf, great offensive lineman. Montez Sweat, really good young edge rusher.
offensive lineman. Montez Sweat, really good young edge rusher. Jonathan Allen, fantastic interior defensive lineman. Even Kyle Fuller at quarterback. I mean, the Washington football
team has a really good roster. Now Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, he's going to be average on
his good days and bad on his bad days. So, I think that the ultimate ceiling of that team is limited.
But a lot of talent to choose from.
I went with Chase Young.
Moving into the NFC North.
And I'm going to start with what might be my most controversial steal.
Of not only the NFC, but the entire process.
It's the Chicago Bears.
And I'm going with quarterback Justin Fields. So my pre-draft process, I had Justin Fields as my QB2. I believe in Justin Fields. I think Justin Fields
is going to be a heck of a quarterback. I think he's going to play for the Bears this year and
they're not going to be able to keep him off the field. I think that the idea of grooming Justin Fields is fantastic.
Sit Justin Fields behind Ryan Tannehill for the next two years, and I think you get yourself a top
10, top 5 quarterback once he's ready to go and the Titans are ready to put him in after a few
seasons. So a long-term project, but with Khalil Mack, Allen Robinson, Roquan Smith, Eddie Jackson,
I mean, the Bears have a lot of good talent,
and I could have gone with any of those players,
but the opportunity to take a guy like
Justin Fields,
who does need
a little bit of seasoning. See, Trevor Lawrence
doesn't really need a lot of seasoning.
He'd be ready to come in and play, and that would cause
some problems, but Fields, if Fields is
willing to sit behind Andy Dalton,
well, then he surely, surely would sit behind Ryan Tannehill.
Next, the Detroit Lions.
I went with tight end TJ Hawkinson, talked about the need for tight end, and it's just not a great roster.
Frank Ragnow at center is a very good player, but I'm cool with having Ben Jones there.
I don't see it as a massive upgrade.
DeAndre Swift could possibly pair with Derrick Henry, but not important enough to make that
the steal.
Jeff Okuda, the young cornerback, maybe, but I wasn't that impressed with Okuda in his
rookie year, so I'm not willing to do that.
I would take TJ Hawkinson, young, impressive tight end, can block, can catch. Could be one of the better tight ends
in the NFL by the end of the year.
I personally would take TJ Hawkinson
over Jonu Smith. I'd rather have
TJ Hawkinson on my team.
So definitely would steal Hawkinson from the Lions.
The Green Bay Packers...
Okay, no games being
played. Give me Aaron Rodgers. Just give me
Aaron Rodgers. I know what I said about
Pat Mahomes. I get it.
But the Packers don't have a Travis Kelsey.
They have Devontae Adams.
He's absolutely fantastic.
But the value at wide receiver
versus the value at quarterback.
Also, I'm very partial to Aaron Rodgers.
You guys know this.
I don't try to hide it.
So give me Aaron Rodgers.
But Jair Alexander at cornerback.
Devontae Adams, Kenny Clark,
Elton Jenkins, Dave Bocchiari.
I mean, really good roster as well,
but Aaron Rodgers was the MVP last year.
I'm taking Aaron Rodgers.
The Vikings, our last team in this segment,
the Minnesota Vikings.
Daniil Hunter, edge rusher.
I think he's fantastic.
One of the top 10 edge rushers in the NFL.
If not him, Adam Thielen to run the slot for the Titans was an option.
Dalvin Cook, again, that pairing to dynamic running backs.
But Dalvin Cook is just more of a pure runner
than the receiving type like Kamara or CMC.
Harrison Smith at safety was an option as well,
but ultimately taking that pass rush
help from one of the better pass rushers in the entire NFL.
Now we are going to move into the last segment of the week, go through the last division
that we need to steal players from and put them on the Titans.

We are going to cap off this Friday edition of the Locked on Titans podcast and this week of the Locked on Titans podcast
by going through the final division of the eight divisions
that we need to steal players from to put on the Titans.
Remember, we have gone through the from to put on the Titans.
Remember, we have gone through the NFC South,
the NFC East, and the NFC North.
It is time to go through the NFC West.
But before we do, I have to remind you guys about the Locked On Today podcast.
All the biggest sports stories from every major sport
in under 20 minutes every single weekday.
Check out the Locked On Today podcast on whatever platform you do stream.
But let's dive into this last division.
Like I said, it is the NFC West, the Arizona Cardinals.
Give me edge rusher Chandler Jones.
So I know you got DeAndre Hopkins at wide receiver.
You got J.J. Watt on the team as well.
And then another option that I was thinking of was safety Buda Baker.
But for me, for me, it's easily Chandler Jones.
Chandler Jones is still one of the top 10 edge rushers in the NFL.
He would make more of an impact on the defense than J.J. Watt, in my opinion.
So with that in mind, I would go with Chandler Jones for the Los Angeles Rams.
I went with Jalen Ramsey.
It was very tough.
I really considered Aaron Donald.
But again, if the Titans had a number one, locked down,
superb cornerback to help in the secondary,
I just think that would just overwhelm the entire competition.
It would give the Titans everything that they need to be an elite defense.
I think it would take them to the next level.
Aaron Donald was absolutely fantastic.
I know.
I know.
But I would love to see Jalen Ramsey back home.
Can't help a little bit of bias there for the hometown kid,
the Tennessee product in Jalen Ramsey.
Next though, the San Francisco 49ers. And I'm back to pass rush. Give me Nick Bosa,
one of the youngest and one of the best pass rushers in the NFL at his age. I know there's
some injury concerns, but at his age with his hand technique, I mean, he's just an absolute stud.
Now, I did consider George Kittle, but Kittle's just hurt all the time, guys.
The guy's hurt all the time, and if the Titans stole George Kittle
and then he ended up getting hurt again, what does that help us at all?
So just something that you have to consider.
Trent Williams at offensive tackle, but he's an older player,
and I just think that the best move the Titans could make
would be getting Nick Bosa to fix the pass rush.
Then the last team that we have to talk about here is the Seattle Seahawks.
I went with Jamal Adams, the safety,
and I think my reasoning here is the Titans would play Jamal Adams more
like a linebacker he
would be a sub package linebacker like they were using Kenny Vaccaro last year he can play around
the line of scrimmage and base defense I just like the versatility that Jamal Adams would provide
the Titans defense and what they could do on passing downs with covering tight ends and
covering running backs covering over the middle of the field and zone, I think Jamal Adams would really impact the Titans' defense.
Now, I did consider Bobby Wagner at linebacker for very similar reasons, quite frankly.
And also, you got to consider A.J. Brown's old college teammate, D.K. Metcalf, just because
he's an absolute stud.
But ultimately, I landed on Jamal Adams.
But that's going to do it, folks.
That is a complete breakdown of every single team,
the player I would steal from them to put on the Tennessee Titans.
Of course, this was the AFC edition.
Again, if you missed the NFC edition,
go back and check out yesterday's show to hear my answers for all of those teams.
But that is going to do it for me today.
I will be back with you guys on Monday.
Might have to put the Monday mailbag to the side for one week
as we get into our division opponent training camp previews.
Excited to dive into all of that information.
Might have a few special guests lined up as well.
But that's going to do it for me today.
That's going to do it for me this week.
As always, I am your host
