Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Will Levis QUITS on Tennessee Titans, Femi Oladejo's Deal Incoming & Dan Moore's Left Tackle Mystery
Episode Date: July 21, 2025Will Levis will be having surgery on his throwing shoulder and be out for the entire Tennessee Titans season according to multiple reports on Monday. Levis has clearly quit on the team after seeing th...e Titans quit on him and hand the keys to Cam Ward. While this could leave a bad taste in the mouth of fans, this absolutely makes sense for Levis, even if the timing is clearly coordinated. However, this is a great thing for Cam Ward's development, which is what matters now. The biggest question remaining for the Titans going into this week's training camp is whether they will get a deal done with Oluwafemi Oladejo, their second round pick, before he misses any practices. The chain of second-round signings is getting close to the 52nd pick in the NFL Draft and a deal should be getting closer too. Finally, the Titans made a major move on the offensive line when they signed Dan Moore, but whether he is a true answer will be something we should know in camp. Also, we got news that L'Jarius Sneed will start training camp on PUP. Will Levis quit on the Tennessee Titans?
But I actually think it's a good thing for Cam Ward.
I'll explain on today's edition of Locked on Titans.

We got to talk about Will Levis opting for surgery,
quitting on the Tennessee Titans,
and why I think it's ultimately a good thing for Cam Ward's
development.
Also, we're going to talk about some of the biggest questions
facing the Tennessee Titans heading into training camp.
Is Femioladejo going to get his contract done?
What are we going to see from Dan Moore in the offensive line? Should the Titans add some free agents?
I'm gonna get into all of that before I do do want to thank you for making

If you aren't an every dayer, now is the perfect time to be one. Training camp kicks off this
week. I'm going to be looking at the biggest training camp battles for the Tennessee Titans
on tomorrow's show. And then the Titans are on the practice field on Wednesday and I'll be here to break down all the action.
Alright, Will Levis, the big news on Monday morning, the bomb drops, Will Levis will be getting surgery on his throwing shoulder,
the one that he had injured during the season last year against the Miami Dolphins.
He is going to be out for the entire
season for the Titans. And look, there are a couple of realities about this that we have to go over.
Number one, if you're mad at Will Levis, I can't necessarily agree with you. Will Levis quit on the
Tennessee Titans, but I don't blame him. Look at the situation that he's in.
Look at what he's facing.
What makes sense for him?
If there is some sort of lingering medical
issue that could lead to better long term health for him, why would he fight
through that and play through that to be Cam Ward's backup?
He needs to look out for his long term future because it's not here in Tennessee.
So I don't necessarily blame Will Levis for deciding right now
before training camp, hey, I'm going to get that surgery.
I'm going to get this repaired and make sure that long-term,
I'm good to go.
Also, I have to confront this reality.
I don't care.
I really don't care that Will Levis did this.
Like, it doesn't make me mad.
I don't feel anything.
Like, so what? In my mind, Will Levis did this. Like, it doesn't make me mad. I don't feel anything. Like, so what?
In my mind, Will Levis is a part of the past.
He was an afterthought for this season.
I didn't want Will Levis on this team anyway.
I've been saying that since the moment that it was clear
that Cam Ward was going to be the pick for the Titans
in the early weeks of March when I felt it was very obvious
that that's what they were going to do.
I've
said, I guarantee Will Levis gets traded. I don't want Will Levis on the roster by week
one. The Titans should try to find any suitor they can. Will Levis and Cam Ward together
would not be the best thing for either of those guys. So I don't really care that this
happened. I don't think that this has any impact on the Tennessee Titans season, my
enjoyment, the excitement. Will Levis shouldn't have been around
anyway, he's a part of the past and it was time to move on.
And quite frankly, with that in mind, Will Levis quit on the Titans, but the
Titans quit on Will Levis.
Look at the timeline of what's happened here.
So Levis gets the starting role, Callahan comes in, the season happens.
Will Levis makes terrible, terrible mistakes. The Titans aren't a good team either, but Levis really the starting role, Kalahan comes in, the season happens. Will Levis makes terrible, terrible mistakes.
The Titans aren't a good team either, but Levis really shoots the team in the foot.
Kalahan's berating him on the sideline, what the heck are you doing?
Then Will Levis is hurt against Miami, the Titans come out of the bye and they play Levis.
And now looking back it's like, okay, he's having surgery on that injury, he tried to
play through. The Titans probably win that game against the
Colts of Mason Rudolph plays, which we can all say, Hey, then they wouldn't
have got Cam Ward.
So I'm glad it didn't happen.
But in real time, that's a bad job by Brian Callahan.
And if you're Will Levis, you're like, man, it was obvious in practice that
I was hurt and Brian Callahan said the opposite.
So what's really the truth?
But if you're Will Levis, this is how you're looking at it.
And then you get benched for Mason Rudolph
because your shoulder isn't good enough to play,
but you played me last week.
And then you come back, you get benched again
during the Cincinnati game, making you look even worse.
Over the off season, Brian Callahan does a couple
of interviews where quite frankly, he didn't talk very good about Will Levis's skill set or the marriage between the two.
Then they go out and draft Cam Ward and make it obvious they're done with you to the entire world.
They hand the keys to Cam Ward and don't give you even reps and even opportunity for the mandatory minicamp
where it really starts to matter. If you're Will Levis, why would you want to again gut it out for that team?
I don't necessarily blame him.
And I think also, if you don't look at this and say,
look at the timing of when this decision was made.
Will Levis participated in the all season program.
Will Levis was training with Jordan Palmer in California,
and Brian Callahan talked about it a ton all season long.
We saw videos of Will Levis doing workouts and stuff like that.
Doesn't look like rehab on a shoulder to me.
Quite honestly, we have seen cases like this throughout the history of professional sports. You have played with people in
Pee-wee football and Little League basketball and baseball and stuff. Guys who if you're winning
they'd probably play through the injury. If things aren't going so well, ow, it hurts.
I don't want to play.
Everybody knows people.
And I'm not saying that Will Levis is, you know,
being a crybaby about this or whatever,
but I'm just saying if Will Levis was still
the starting quarterback of the Tennessee Titans,
he's not opting for surgery right now.
And I think that this is about a trade.
If Will Levis would have been traded somewhere before training camp, which is probably what he preferred.
So we could get on a new team and learn a new system and get more comfortable and get the heck out of here.
He probably just wants to get the heck out of here. And again, I don't blame him.
So I would imagine that Will Levis's camp and his agent and his people and him are like hey this shoulder thing is
in there I can play through it it probably wouldn't be that big a deal but
at long term it could be a problem why would I play for this team if they trade
me then great I'll go to a new team and I'll gut it out if they don't I'm gonna
opt to have this thing and I'm going to sit out the entire season, rehab my shoulder. I'm back to full health 100%. That what was
bothering me that affected my play last year during the season. Then the Titans have more
time to get a trade for me next off season. I can go to a new opportunity and I'm fully
healthy and good to go for the longterm. Honestly, it makes sense for both sides. And this is why it's good for Cam Ward.
I have said the entire time that we can talk like it's Madden.
And hey, if Cam Ward's better than Will Levis,
he'll beat him out.
Cam Ward's gonna beat him out and be the starting quarterback.
That's not a conversation.
But these are human beings.
These aren't Madden characters.
These aren't digits characters. These aren't
digits. This isn't a roster number. Like in the locker room, if you're Will Levis
and you know I'm angry at what happened, he admitted it sucks, and Cam Ward's the
guy now who took my opportunity, and I have to sit here and be in a backup and
be in a room with them and whatever, that sounds terrible. And if you don't have everybody in the building rowing in the same direction
it can just poison the well
and if you have a quarterback that is actively bitter about the situation in the room with Cam Ward
is he going to help Cam Ward in his development as much as a guy like Brandon Allen who knows his place in the league
and isn't fighting for his place in the league you want people who are secure in his place in the league and isn't fighting for his place in the league
You want people who are secure in their place in the league so that they are comfortable and confident to help?
Cam Ward become who he's supposed to be and that's Brandon Allen. That's a guy like Tim Boyle
Okay, like that's a guy like Teddy Bridgewater
For example who we talked about would maybe be a good fit or Jacobi Brassett who ultimately didn't come here
But these are the, Jameis Winston,
these are the type of players who I was hoping for
that would back up Cam Ward.
So now that Will Levis is gone, whatever.
You know what I mean?
To me, this is the best for both worlds
and this is a positive impact on,
and I'm not saying like,
oh, I'm glad Will Levis is hurt and has surgery.
I'm just saying like, this is what's happened.
Will Levis has gotten hurt.
He's having surgeries out for the year. And I think that if you look at the impact on Cam Ward
based on that happening, I think the impact is actually positive. I wanted Will Levis out of the
picture for the Titans all along. Now, will Will Levis come back and be in the locker room and show
up and be part of the team and rehab there but he probably might have to
but will it be the same as him being a player who's out on the field and the active backup and but
and let me also say this I've talked about this concept as well throughout the offseason
if Cam Ward misses any games at all I don't want the Titans to eke out victories with Will Levis
I want the Titans to play Brandon Allen who who's 2-8 in his 10 career starts, and lose.
Just like what happened with Joe Burrow when he got hurt his first season with the Bengals.
And then what happens they got a top 5 pick in the draft, tanking their way out because Burrow's already hurt.
Now I'm not saying that, you know, knock on wood, I would rather Cam Ward play the entire season
and the Titans get a worse draft pick because I get to see Cam Ward every single game of the season.
That is my preferred outcome.
But, you know, God forbid, if Cam Ward were to miss time, like Burrow had to or whatever,
I don't think I want the Titans to win games in that scenario.
I would rather have them get closer to a top tier edge rusher
or a top tier defensive lineman or something like that
in the draft this year.
Maybe Dan Moore's terrible and they want a top tier
offensive tackle, which there could be a lot of those.
Or trade back with all the quarterbacks
that could be available and take advantage of that
to build the roster up around Cam Ward.
Like at the end of the day,
I either want to see Cam Ward play football,
or I don't really care about the outcome
because we're not building towards the future
if Cam Ward's not leading us to victories.
That's how I feel about it.
So no matter how you want to slice it,
Will Levis quit on the Titans
and he decided to do this because he's bitter.
I don't blame him for that.
I don't really care.
Doesn't change my view of the Titan season.
And ultimately it's probably what's best for Will Levis and best for Cam Ward and don't really care. It doesn't change my view of the Titans season and ultimately
it's probably what's best for Will Levis and best for Cam Ward and best for the Titans. So that's
where I'm at on that. But as for some questions that we don't have answers to yet, is Femiel
with Dejio going to make it to training camp? We'll discuss. I do want to let you guys know that today's episode is brought to you by Rougiet.

about the Will Levis news and why I don't really blame him. I don't really care. The
Titans quit on him first
But you know, whatever again, I think it's a good thing for Cam Ward. So
But with that in mind
Training camp technically starts on Tuesday
Maybe today when you're hearing this but the first practice of the year is on Wednesday. So
We are hoping we have to hope that Tennessee Titans second round
pick Femi Oladejo finds a way to get his contract done before the first practice
now I just want to take a moment and remind you guys why it's so important
that Femi gets his contract done ASAP and doesn't miss any practice time also
want to remind you why he's still not signed.
So we're seeing this dam start to break
and we're seeing some of the dominoes start to fall.
And we talked about that at the end of last week,
but second round picks in the NFL took forever
to get their deals done.
Like 30 of the 32 second round picks
didn't have a deal done going into last week,
like a week ago or something like that,
10, seven to 10 days ago, because there's a contract thing with how much percentage
of the money in the deal is going to be guaranteed.
The first two second round picks, they had a hundred percent of their, uh, their deal
completely guaranteed.
That was, uh, Jayden Higgins with the Texans and then, uh, Carson's Wessinger with the
Cleveland Browns.
So all the other second round picks were waiting like,
hey, I want my contract fully guaranteed as well.
Well, the damn broke with Alfred Collins of the San Francisco 49ers,
which that's what we talked about last week.
But since then, we've seen a ton of other movement with second round picks getting signed.
Not everybody getting guaranteed deals, different percentages and stuff like that.
But now
there's just a couple of second round picks left. And as of this recording, this is where we're at. By the time this is public in an hour or whatever, by the time you listen to this on
Tuesday morning, it could change. But like Femi could be signed by then honestly, but
there's Quinshawn Judkins who got some legal trouble recently, which is affecting his status.
But after that, you got to go all the way down to the 47th pick,
Will Johnson with the Cardinals for a guy who's unsigned.
And then you have 48 Ariante, Ursory with the Texans.
And then you have 51 Nick Scorton with the Panthers.
And then you have Femi Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame was the 53rd pick after Femi.
He actually got a deal done with the Buccaneers within the last like 12 hours or 24 hours of me recording this.
So that's a good sign. That's the closest person to Femi Oladejo pick wise to get signed.
So right now we're looking at 51, 52 with 50 and 53 being signed and then 47 and 48 and hopefully as deals are getting done closer to Femi, it allows his deal to get done.
Look, I think this will be done soon. I think it will be done by the time training camp happens.
I think it might even get done again by the time that you're hearing this.
It might be done already, but it needs to be because it's so important for Femi to be in training camp because he is a developmental player
he is not as pro ready for his position as maybe some like
Mike Green who people considered a top 15
You know first round talent type player who had major off-field concerns. He went number 59 for the Ravens. He's going to be
ready to contribute at the edge rusher position right away quicker than Femi Oladejo who was an
off-ball linebacker in college who was converted to edge the last like six games of the year at
UCLA last year. Femi needs time to practice playing edge. He needs time to you know learn those
techniques and not only learn
the techniques, but then practice them with repetition. Hey, I do it this way, it works
better. This is not going to work for me. And I go back to Titans outside linebacker coach
talking earlier this off season about the fact that Femiola De Gio needs to get one or two moves
with power, one or two moves with speed, and
then a couple of counters off of those things.
He just needs to get a simple toolbox figured out.
Right now he's starting from the absolute bottom.
Now he's six foot three, 260, looks like a Greek god, absolute freak of nature, athletically.
So he has all the tools and he has the personality and he has the want to, and he has the work ethic to make all of it happen.
But at the end of the day, he needs that practice. He needs that repetition.
So anytime that Femiola Dezio misses whatsoever, even without the pads on, some people are going to say, oh, he, you know, even if he misses a couple of these first practices, they're without pads on, you know, it's not, no, he needs to work on his technique and doing it without pads on in
A less than 100% full go environment is critical like think about weightlifting
All of these awesome weightlifters that could put up a ton of weight
They'll even tell you don't go so high on the weight practice your form work slow rep stretch out the muscle
Contract and hold,
all that different stuff.
And I'm no weightlifting guru or anything like that.
So I'm sure there were some people listening
who are more educated
and can give more detailed explanation,
but it's simply an analogy for,
Femi needs to maybe not practice at full speed
to start and get comfortable with the motion
and get the muscle memory going
of what he's supposed to do at his new position.
So it affects the titan. So what affects the Titans, this issue,
affects the Titans much more than it maybe affects
some of the other second round picks
because those guys are maybe more ready to go
and ready to play and ready to contribute right away.
And they don't necessarily need the practice time
quite as much as Femi does.
And you add in the Titans situation. The pass rush.
We talk about is Femi gonna get his deal done,
but a major question for the Titans heading
into training camp is how good or really how bad
is this pass rush gonna be?
And Femi's obviously a big part of that,
but within the Femi conversation, you zoom out
and it's like, oh, that's a big deal even more
so not because of his individual development but because of the pass
rush issues at large which are a monster question. Now also we stay on defense we
look at some health things like Ligeria Sneed. Is he gonna be in an interview a
couple weeks ago remember we talked about this, he said,
I'm the healthiest I've ever been. Ready to remind people who Ligerious need is.
Well that means you're ready to go on day one of training camp. And Brian Kalahana said, we need him to practice more.
So, are they gonna get that going ASAP? Or are we gonna be at odds to start day one? What's the truth? Because
I've heard a lot of words now I want to see what the truth is and I think
Ligeria Steen is one of the biggest X-Factors for this team this year a top
three X-Factor for this team this year so his presence or lack thereof will
really and his level of play and whether he is the healthiest he's been
and he's just ready to go ready to play football again that'll really kind of
warp my view of how I see this team going forward on defense as well
obviously the young linebacker battle next to Cody Barton but we're gonna talk
about that tomorrow you know more in depth when we talk about the camp
battles but certainly a question but I I wanna look at some other things, like Dan Moore.
It, you know, is Dan Moore in the offensive line
gonna gel right away?
That's a major question for the Titans.
We talk about the biggest questions for the team.
That's absolutely one of those big questions.
Is Dan Moore gonna be a $22 million a year left tackle? That's
franchise left tackle money. Look, it's not top tier, top market, you know, best
offensive tackle in the NFL type money, but it's a, you know, you have to overpay
in free agency and Dan Moore has to be worth that money. If we're leaving this
season saying, hey, the Titans have to consider offensive tackle in the draft because Dan Moore not getting the job done.
That would be a disaster signing, quite honestly.
So who is Dan Moore going to be?
And remember Dan Moore left one of those mandatory minicamp practices
there at the end left him early.
Is Dan Moore going to be healthy?
If Dan Moore's not out on the practice field
for the start of training camp because of that injury when it's been five weeks, six weeks, that is not a good sign.
So for me, the major zoom out big question is will the offensive line gel?
But if I'm going to zoom in that Dan Moore injury and whether he's ready to go, that's something that I'm going to be watching for on that very first practice
report or in the hopefully it's a question that's asked in the interviews to
Brian Callahan and the Tuesday press conferences.
There will be press conferences on Tuesday, which I'll add into my training camp
battles because I'm sure that questions will be asked about some of these battles
that we have to discuss like linebacker, wide receiver and stuff like that.
But we talk about biggest questions heading into training camp and I'm sorry, the offensive
line like I said last week has to be better.
Our expectation should be that it is better, but we can't know yet.
And Dan Moore is at the center of that.
I think, you know, we talked about injuries.
Will guys be healthy?
Legerius need Kevin Winston in the secondary.
Are they going to be healthy?
But Dan Moore, Lloyd Cushionberry,
is he going to start on PUP?
Is he going to be ready to go for training camp?
Brian Callahan talked like he was on track for training camp
earlier this all season.
Again, we've heard a lot of words.
Now we get to see actions and get a little bit of answers
as to what's going on.
But I want to talk about a couple of other big picture issues and should the Titans add any free agents
here before training camp starts? Today's episode is brought to you by BetterHelp. This is an ad

Titans fans, let's cap off today's edition of the Locked on Titans podcast, doing the biggest questions for the Tennessee Titans.
Now one of the biggest questions for the Titans Titans now one of the biggest questions
for the Titans was what was gonna happen with Will Levis and
Now we kind of know what's going on with that how it impacts cam ward
But then we got into Femiola Dejo's contract health updates the offensive line and now literally as I'm recording this
We get big news that
literally as I'm recording this we get big news that Ligerious Need and Lloyd Cushenberry are going to begin training camp on the PUP. I'm as healthy as I've
ever been. So it's funny that I just talked about Ligerious Need for a little
while and now we have our answer. Well I'm glad I got the answer while we were recording
so that we could discuss it.
I'm sure some of you are listening back to that.
You know, we're listening to that last segment wondering,
why doesn't he know?
But now we know.
And I guess my reaction to that is,
this is what I've been saying.
I've been saying for quite some time now
that the odds, the chances, the likelihood
that Ligerius Need ever plays impactful football for the Tennessee Titans ever again are significantly
low.
They are historically low, astronomically low.
Whatever descriptive word you want to put before low, put it there.
Disgustingly low.
Should we go there?
Unsurprisingly low.
Can I go there?
At the end of the day,
I think the Titans, if they get anything
from Ligeria Sneed this year, it's an absolute bonus.
It should be seen as an absolute luxury.
It should not be seen as an expectation. Maybe he does come back and play serviceable football this year and, you know,
four weeks from now he comes off the PUP or two weeks from now or this later this week he comes
off the PUP and everything's fine. You know, we talk about it different but I just it just
continues a pattern of moves where it's just hard for me to, uh, it's hard for me to have any faith whatsoever
that Ligeria Sneed doesn't turn into anything other than a historic bust for the Tennessee
Titans. Now, Lloyd Cushinberry, like we were talking about, didn't think that he would
be ready to go right away. I mean, there was some optimism, like I said earlier in the
year, but nope, nope not gonna be the
case and I think that's fair and they've been talking up core 11 and all that and when I did
my roster previews I talked up core 11. So there's an answer about some of the health but I can say
some positives. No Dan Moore, no Kevin Winston. So if Dan Moore and Kevin Winston aren't on there, I guess that's somewhat of a positive, right?
But now, it does bring us to a final question that I have here that we have time for. I have some other questions like
is Special Teams going to get better? Is Brian Callahan the guy? Those are also big questions, but I think one of the big questions that people want to know too is,
are the Titans going to bring in anybody else? Are there any free agents?
And I think you look at certain positions like Edge, and I've been saying,
I think a guy like Genevieve and Clowney, pairing him back up with Denard Wilson as a cheat player,
to come in like, I would rather have Gene have Janavian Clowney than Lorenzo Carter,
especially if Femi's deal sets him back a little bit.
Zanaria Smith is out there
if you just hate Janavian Clowney because 2020,
which I think is a little absurd, but I get it, whatever.
Wide receiver, you know, Amari Cooper, Keenan Allen,
still out there.
I don't think the Titans need to do anything like that at wide receiver though
Let's just see the young guys, but at edge I would be in for that because young guys. It's just Femi
I mean, you know, Jalen Harrell is never gonna be like part of the rotation. He's a back-end of the roster guy
So Arden Key Lorenzo Carter Draymond Jones
They aren't young guys that we gotta see so why not bring in another veteran that's better than Lorenzo Carter?
Cornerback.
Legerius Need, according to a report from A to Z Sports, Legerius Need is on track to play.
Week 1 still should be back.
But again, can you count on that and look at behind that?
Now you have Roger Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
With Roger in the slot, Jarvis on the outside, Darrell Baker Jr. on the outside.
And behind him you have nine undrafted free agents and Oruwari.
So that's despicable.
You know, maybe Gabe Judy Lawley, Marcus Harris, Jamari Harris actually steps up and is worthy
of that spot.
But can you count on that? You could get like an Asante Samuel Jr. But the real free agent I think the Titan should
consider is Gerald Everett. Gerald Everett was released by the Seattle Seahawks. And is Gerald
Everett a certified starting Titan? No, he's not. And do I want him to be starting tight end over Gunnerhelm or take opportunities away from
Chigokanko? No, not necessarily, but he's better than Josh Wiley. And
what I would want to say here is, if you could replace Josh Wiley with a guy who
prior to last year
had 400 receiving yards and right around 40 catches at minimum for five straight years.
6'3", 250, not a great blocker but I think he's better than Chig.
Listen, the Titans went 3-14 last year. I know right now we have all these hopes and dreams for all of these young guys.
But I don't have very many hopes and dreams for Josh Wiley.
I'd much rather the Titans cut Josh Wiley and bring in an actual veteran Titan like Gerald Everett,
who could be a great help to Cam Ward.
Like, there are certain positions like wide receiver, where yeah, I get it.
I want to see the Titans young guys. I wanna see them get opportunities, no doubt.
But some positions like maybe inside linebacker
if the young guys don't live up to it,
like cornerback, like interior defensive line,
like offensive line depth, like tight end,
like why not?
The Titans don't have gobs of young talent at these places that you can count on.
You know, I want to see David Martin Robinson and see what he can do this year.
But I'm not going to thrust him all the way up into, you know, some sort of crazy role without knowing it.
Maybe they see it in training camp.
And Gunnar Helm is a different style of player than Gerald Everett.
Like, if I could just replace Josh Wiley with Gerald Everett, I'm doing that. Why would I not do that? That helps Cam Ward, that makes the team better.
It doesn't rob any young guys of opportunities or anything. It just makes the Tennessee Titans a
better football team and gives Cam Ward a better opportunity for success. So Edge and Gerald Everett
at tight end, I would absolutely consider that. And cornerback, I would consider that now too.
But the Titans will probably see how the young guys
respond mentally to the playbook
and the intensity of training camp
with these non-padded practices.
And if the young guys let the team down,
we'll see some churn with them
and maybe some older guys who are still available brought in.
But also the Titans were a bad football team last year
and maybe some of these older veterans
would rather play for a team
that has a better chance to get some wins if the money's
all equal but with that being said that is gonna do it for me today folks as
always I am your host Tyler Roland and this was Locked on Titans Thanks for watching guys!
