Okay, it's official.
We are very much in the final sprint to Election Day.
And face it, between debates, polling releases,
even court appearances, it can feel exhausting,
even impossible to keep up with.
I'm Brad Milke, I'm the host of Start Here,
the daily podcast from ABC News.
And every morning, my team and I get you caught up
on the day's news in a quick, straightforward way
that's easy to understand, with just enough context
so you can listen, get it, and go on with your day. So kickstart your morning,
start smart with Start Here and ABC News, because staying informed shouldn't feel overwhelming.
Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome to Deeper Lore, a bonus episode designed to be a topical guide
to the most recent episode of lore.
Now, some folks have favorites they like to revisit over and over again.
Others enjoy listening to certain topics.
They hear a new episode on one subject and it sparks an interest in other stories on the same topic.
The trouble is, with more than 300 episodes to pick from, it's hard to track down specific ones.
So this little bonus episode is here to help, offering a guide to folks who want to go a
bit deeper into the lore, thus the name, Deeper Lore.
This week for episode 265, Friend or Foe, we get a little bit creepy with a discussion
of something many of us have experience with, imaginary friends.
And contrary to the perception that this is limited to the vivid imaginations of little
school kids, the truth sends us down some terrifying roads.
Invisible visitors and unseen observers, though, are common elements in folklore and we've
covered similar tales in the past.
So here are three more episodes that resonate well with that particular theme.
First up, episode 82, Forgotten.
This is the first episode I ever
made about ghost towns, and one of the common themes that comes up in ghost town stories
time and time again is this notion that visitors to those sorts of places often report the
feeling that they're being watched. Come for the dusty abandoned towns and stay for
that spine tingling thrill. Next, download episode 131, Sea of Change.
Everyone loves a good nautical tale,
and those spooky ghost ship stories are always a hit,
but hidden within many of them is the notion
that people who step foot on a ghost ship
often feel like hidden eyes are following them.
This old episode is a classic one
that demonstrates that eerie feeling.
And finally, I recommend you go listen to episode 11 of Lore Legends, called Dark Watchers.
This one delivers exactly what's on the tin, stories of people who have felt themselves
in situations where some otherworldly visitor has stood watch over them and stalked them.
It's chilling stuff and probably best listened to with the lights on.
So there you go.
Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past.
