Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper lore, a bonus episode that's designed to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of lore. Very simply put, we have over 350 episodes, and it's difficult to track on ones that a new episode might remind you of. Since I have access to the spreadsheet and you do not, it means that I can recommend episodes to you
Starting point is 00:00:24 that pair nicely with the one that came out this week. And that, in a nutshell, is the purpose of deeper, lore. Hopefully it will keep the spooky feeling going for you well into the weekend and put a handful of old episodes into a new, more powerful context. So let's get started, shall we? This week for episode 290 growing pains, we regressed to our childhood to explore some of the folklore and stories that children have whispered for centuries. But it's not the first time that we've discussed tales at the intersection of folklore and childhood. So here are three older episodes that should pair up nicely with this week's new one. First up,
Starting point is 00:01:00 Episode 24, A Stranger Among Us. This one dates all the way back to our very first year on the air, 2015, and it's one of my favorites for a very specific reason. It tackles a common story from our childhood through the lens of actual historical events, turning what was already a creepy story, into something even more terrifying. So do check it out. Next, download episode 207, Flesh and Blood. One of the biggest fears of our childhood is probably childhood abductions. Growing up watching Unsolved Mysteries in the 1980s, this idea was hammered home pretty often for me. Kids are sometimes taken, and this episode explores some frightening examples.
Starting point is 00:01:40 It's a rough one, but it's also an important episode. And finally, there's episode 265, Friend or Foe. This is actually a pretty recent one, just from last year, but the concept is timeless. Lots of kids in a lot of different cultures have had. imaginary friends. The trouble is, some of the stories suggest that they might be more than mere figments of our imagination. Be sure to revisit this awesome episode. And there you go. Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past. Episodes 24, 207, and 265 are waiting for you in this podcast feed. You can just scroll through the episodes to find them,
Starting point is 00:02:16 or you can tap on their direct links in the description for this episode. And until next time, stay spooky.
