Starting point is 00:00:01 Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lur, a bonus episode designed to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of lore. Why? Well, frankly, there are a lot of lore episodes in our catalog now. After 10-plus years, we've managed to write and publish over 350 episodes, each one containing multiple stories, characters, events, and creatures. It's a lot to try and remember, which is why the lore team and I have a massive spreadsheet with keywords to help us keep it all straight. So when we publish a new lore episode, they are often related in some way to older ones. And like pairing a fine wine with the right food, many of these new episodes just feel more complete when you can follow them up by listening to others that fit them. And there you go. That's the purpose of deeper lore. So let's get started, shall we? This week for episode 294, upon reflection, we go old school and discuss the folklore around mirrors
Starting point is 00:00:58 and everyone's favorite slumber party ghost, Bloody Mary. But it's not the first time we've discussed some of the creepier ghostly women from folklore. So here are three older episodes that should pair up nicely with this week's new one. First up, episode 34, All the Lovely Ladies. This episode puts a historical face on the classic Evil Queen stereotype by exploring the legends and the truth behind Elizabeth Boutre. Fans of the show have always loved this episode, so if you've missed it or you need a fresher, do check it out.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Next, download episode 112, facets. One key category of classic ghost stories is the weeping woman or woman in white, often known as La Yerona. This old classic explores a few of the variations, and I think that you'll really enjoy it. And finally, there's episode 117, Bones. Now, at first glance, this one might seem like an international episode focused on castles, but there's a hidden female ghost in the story that has embedded itself. in popular modern culture in a way that few others have.
Starting point is 00:02:01 So go give it a listen and enjoy the big reveal. And there you go, folks. Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past. Episodes 34, 112, and 117 are waiting for you in this podcast feed. Just scroll down through your app to find them. Or you can tap on their direct links in the description for this bonus episode.
